  • Red rank Hag main here. The only times I don't get a 4k is against super coordinated swf that know how to deny her power and force a chase but if you're smart with her trap placement and know the maps and popular travel points it makes it pretty easy to surprise them and snow ball.

I agree that if killers are locked, survivors should too, but my only problem is something that happens with me a lot of times. I start searching for a lobby, as survivor and start using blood points, sometimes in characters I prestiged, to level them up and get some perks. And a lot of times it takes a while to find a lobby, but when it does, I switch back to the character I was using before, since probably the new character doesn't have the perks I want yet and I want to keep leveling them at another time.

In the survivor lock scenario, I would get stuck with the character I was leveling. That is my only complain. Now, seeing the downside for killers, with toxic people switching at the last minute and bringing keys or something else, I have to agree that having the character I was leveling locked is a small price and that, in the general interest of everyone, the survivor should be locked in too.

Killers are locked the second they begin looking for a match. In my region during the day killer ques are super long, 10-15 minutes, but almost instant at night. That means if I want to level up my Oni but play as Hag during the day I have to spend all my BP before I ready up then switch back over and wait the 10-15 minutes for a match. If that is the real deal breaker for Survivors being locked they should make it lock after a set time in the lobby to alleviate the potential issue. Just a simple compromise like that will shut up the killer mains and the only complaint Survivor mains could come up with is such a non issue for the majority of the player base that they would be ignored and the discussion about it would end quickly.

  • Some people call things camping that aren't. I got called a camper tonight when one was hooked in the basement and I could hear an injured Ash running around the killer shack. That's not camping, that's called looking for the dumbass keeping me by the hook.

As far as actual face camping goes it's logical at the end game to secure a kill or punish an overly altruistic teammate who should just be chilling at Hatch or opening a gate instead of trying to come for a rescue. Early game its scummy and a terrible idea but toxic people will find a way to be toxic.

  • If you want to dump BP in a character just do it before you ready up. That's how I do it even when in a 4 man and my friends and I just BS while we're getting everything ready and spending BPs.

The argument that you don't want a lock because you can't spend points before readying up makes you sound like a child. As a killer you can't spend points on a killer you aren't going to play as after you ready up.

If it bothers you that much I have a compromise so killers can actually prep (which, by the way, is why they can see the Survivors and their items in lobby as it's a 4v1 game) have the Survivors locked at 30 seconds so they killer has at least a little bit of time to change a perk to deal with the inclusion of game changing items like medkits against legion and Oni or flashlights against Wraith and Hag.

  • When I have more than one early game DC I offer to farm or just go afk for a little bit until more gens get done to even the playing field a little bit because I know how much it sucks playing as Survivor and having a DC and the killer just try hards to move in to the next match instead of just relaxing and getting some extra BPs.

If more players on both sides just relaxed a little there would probably be a lot less DCs and more than likely likely a lot less toxicity in this game.

  • I thought it was really underwhelming and made no sense to her written lore. It says she grew up in a quiet village separated from civilization and uses the term hamlet and villagers which implies a time further in the past but the Tome makes it very modern. It also says she was taught charms for luck and protection, not stole them from a mysterious book belonging to her grandma. She was taken by cannibals but the Tome makes it seem like the existence of cannibals is just superstition.

  • Currently on PC they have locked the killers to begin to zero in on the individual MMR before it's implemented. My guess is they're learning from the mistakes on Xbox before they put it into the platforms with a higher player base.

  • 560 hours in game, Hybrid player (not a Killer or Survivor main) and I don't think she is OP. Her power is frustrating but most are fairly predictable in their movements and can be easily confused since scratch marks are really her only tracking ability when using her power as collision doesn't exist anymore and sounds are bugged/her character noise is louder than footsteps/breathing on healthy Survivors.

Playing the "guessing game" against her can be frustrating but I am also a player that doesn't run one tile as long as I can, I run tiles together to moderate success against most killers. Also I have had amazing luck against them by breaking LoS and camping a pallet until she comes by, then I either get a hit and a stun or I get a stun and run off to the next tile.

To the argument that "Every good spirit runs Stridor", out of probably 40 games I've played against Spirit I have only seen maybe four with Stridor in any rank and didn't even notice a difference in their play style.

She is a killer that has some frustrations but like many of the killers people keep complaining about lately she just requires you to change how you play instead of robot running the same loops the same way you run every m1 killer.

Oh really? Well thank you for that information! I been getting very sweaty survivors (possibly swf groups) so I doubt I'll get the ruin one. But that's very helpful to know!😊

If you have an offering for the new silent hill map that makes it super easy literally just have to trap the hallway, especially if you just run her adept build, most will die on first hook because people can't find them.

  • If I see a Laurie or two I'll know 100% there's gonna be a DS, Claudette is almost always gonna bring Self Care, most Meg's bring Sprint Burst, almost every David brings Dead Hard, most Bill's will be running Unbreakable and BT. By seeing the Survivor I can get an idea of at least 1 perk they're running so I can sort of plan for that but the big thing is items. If everyone last second switches to tool boxes chances are one or more has a BNP so it would be good if I could add Franklin's or Pop to my build. If everyone switches last second to medkits I need time to prep Sloppy, Franklin's, Nurse's, or Overwhelming Presence. If they last second switch to flashlights and I'm playing Hag or Wraith, who get their powers gutted by flashlights, I need time to adjust my build with Franklin's so they're not as punishing. These items, by themselves and present before 6 seconds of the match starting, are not really an issue since they can be adjusted for. The problem is the last second switch where the killer can't form a plan or make any tweaks to assist them.

  • @CampMeToDeath said:

I personally think they are fun plus good rewards, for the most part. Meg and Ace aren't my mains, but for the Wraith's weapon and Tiki charm, I will get to level 70. However for the first tier of the rift.. I'm really not liking the Hex ones, since the one Hex challenge is to hit 10 survivors, may not be hard but knowing my luck it will get broken instantly. Same with the ruin challenge. Can't wait to see what Wraith's challenges will be. 😊

The Hex ones don't require it to stay up. I play Hag with Third Seal all the time and it got cleansed after I hit all 4 Survivors once and two of them twice but I still got the challenge. Same with the ruin one, as long as you bring the perk and get the 4k or close hatch before all the gens are done you'll get the challenge.

I feel like the true amount of tunneling and camping is mixed between what survivors say and what killers say. So, by that I mean that the amount of tunneling is greater than what killers think and less than what survivors think.

Definitely, most mains on both sides claim it's more or less than what it really is, I don't deny tunneling happens. Coming back to an unhook and I only see the person that was just unhooked and I down them and hook them again, that's not tunneling, that's a smart play punishing a bad play, and if I eat DS from it then they have a chance to escape. Finding a group and just focusing on one person until they are out of the game is hard tunneling. Getting to a gen and knowing that the Nancy has Sprint Burst and the Jake does not so downing the injured Jake regardless of if he's been recently unhooked is not tunneling, it's the smarter play.

Really it boils down to entitlement, survivor mains will claim anything is tunneling or camping and drive up the idea that it's a rampant issue when it's really only a minor one and killer mains will deny it happens ever to try to save face and it deepens the us vs them mentality and gives people the justification to DC despite DCs at any time being the scummiest thing you can do imo.

"... when I'm up against a bully squad that just wants to back to back pallet stun, head on, and flashlight blind instead of playing the game.." This is the same as camper/tunnelers. But you can find it 10 games in a row perfectly.

You have to define tunneling to me, because a lot of people will claim "Tunneler" when it isn't. I see it from both sides too. Playing killer I get called tunneler when it's been two hooks since I last downed the person claiming I tunneled them, as Survivor my friends will claim the killer is tunneling when I see they aren't through aura reading perks and paying attention to the health states of my team. In all actuality tunneling isn't as big of a thing as so many mains claim it is. Proxy camping is a bit of an issue but running kindred I can see it's because there are two other people near the hook not being nearly as stealthy as they think they are.

Also, bully squads that make it a point to stun the killer as much as possible aren't advancing the objective at all in a game that is in their hands to move it along whereas a killer that is doing everything in their power to secure a kill is making the game move along so you can go on to the next match, not keeping you hostage.

  • It's kinda funny though, Survivors constantly DC when there is no penalty but the only times I've even considered it as a killer is when I'm up against a bully squad that just wants to back to back pallet stun, head on, and flashlight blind instead of playing the game. Even then I don't DC, I go to the basement and stand facing a corner so they can't continue to bully me and are forced to do gens and escape.

What's the point of the Ranking system if the MMR system overrides it?

They've said that rank isn't really a determination of skill but more so how much you've played in a month. I'm guessing keeping ranks is so people have another visible goal they can work towards. Kinda like how Player level means absolutely nothing other than getting Iri shards but I'm still paying attention to it and looking at how long it will be to get to devotion three right now.

  • @TAG said:

Camping during the endgame isn't toxic, though.

Some think it is. I've been "called out" for it in post game chat a couple times. What they don't understand is that if you didn't rush through the gens against a baby Huntress learning how to best use her power and we all actually had a fun game I wouldn't care and would probably have just hooked and walked away both of those times, lol.

I don't recall the last time I bought an entire set of cosmetics for a character. I usually just like that one part. Being forced to buy all three parts just makes it a no-go for me. Its too expensive.

That's fair enough, personally I don't like mixing and matching for the most part. The only ones I don't use full sets on are Huntress and Jane because I like the cat mask for huntress with her winter clothes and I prefer the longer flowing hairstyle on Jane from her tome outfit over her basic head. If there's a set I don't feel like paying $10 for its usually also 21,000 shards so I can save up shards if I feel like it. My main point in my comment though was there is only 1 "Legendary" in the game that costs more for the full set.

  • @Pawcelot said:

I've been calling them legendaries because all legendaries so far have been linked sets. The price sure is legendary, at least.

The only legendary so far is Lisa and she's also the only linked skin that costs more at $15, all the rest are still $10

  • My main Survivor is Nea but I also play a lot of Jane and David too, working in getting all of the perks on David next now that I've got them on Nea and Jane. I like Nea's look and style the most and I really enjoy Jane and David's lore.

Yeah true, it does give extra chase points for both sides and you have a slight chance at catching someone which is pretty exciting lol. Op should give it a try sometime.

Except with most killers they'll have Chase maxed out by that point, and holding their hand out the gate isn't worth the additional 100-200 points for getting a hit when they could just, you know, leave.

  • Doc and Hag are mine. Herman's silly laugh when he hits Survivors with his static blast is so satisfying to me. I love Lisa's power and her backstory is cool to me and I can't wait for more with the upcoming tome.

  • I imagine Zarina with a camera for part of her head and have surveillance equipment and microphones in her design with some crazy stalking ability, nobody could hide from the twisted reporter that Zarina became.

I also imagine Nea traveling through twisted murals painted on the walls of maps like Demo and his portals but since her Survivor perks are more stealth oriented having her be a stealthy killer, kinda like a combo of Ghostface and Demo. Or she would straight up be the entity and lean into the joke lol

  • As a red rank Hag myself I'm looking forward to her lore but I'm not looking forward to flashlight meta and as Survivor I'm not looking forward to Hexes everywhere.

I've been playing only Huntress since the 13th, except for a few Spirit games (maybe like 5?). I got full red ranks when I picked Nurse who I haven't played in over 2 months.

I don't think individual killer MMR exists, because you can switch between killers in the lobby.

Interesting, in their news release on the 20th they said it was going live on all regions on Xbox and killers would be locked. Wonder if they're having some technical issues or something.

  • my-image.png

    Here's mine

  • @thesuicidefox said:

    Bad.

Rank 1 killer. Rank 20 survivors regularly. Last night I got a 1 rank 1 in a few games but most were low ranks. Only 2 games were all red ranks, and one of those was my friends. I picked a memey Nurse build but my friends Xbox crashed in the loading screen LOL.

Since they're doing individual killer MMR I'm wondering what killer you are actually red rank with and which ones you're not as good with and if that had made any difference? For me I'm a red rank killer and would say I deserve that rank with Hag, Doc, and Legion but skillwise I'd say I'm a rank 20 with Nurse, Billy, PH, Ghostface and Demogorgon. So if I'm trying to learn Nurse are they actually getting things to a balance or if I pick up Hag will I be having 3 minute matches against baby Survivors?

  • @Rivyn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470780#Comment_1470780

How does it work with either? I'm thinking of picking up Deathslinger soon, so I want some ideas.

I run it on Hag and for her if you miss the attack after immediately teleporting its a little less punishing so you can get back in the chase and attack again a little bit faster. Not really sure how it helps Deathslinger though.

  • Depends on what you qualify as tunneling. Is it necessarily tunneling if I don't find anyone and go back towards an unhook but the person that was just on the hook run right into me? Do I slug them and pass up a hook state at 3-5 gens still up or do I gamble on getting a DS out of the game early or a 2nd hook early? Is that actually tunneling? If it's not, will I still be called a tunneler despite going for the smarter play?

To me tunneling is targeting one person purposely to remove them from the game despite others throwing themselves at the killer to try to get them to change targets and despite the 2nd chance meta.

If I'm playing killer and you unhook and I can't find the unhooker but the injured Survivor is right there I'm going for the smarter play and targeting the easy prey in front of me. If I'm playing Survivor and someone unhooks me without borrowed in the killers face I'm not going to hold it against the killer for downing and hooking me a 2nd time because my supposed teammate decided to just farm me.

"Tunneling" is more complex than some people make it out to be. Scott Jund made a video about the entitlement issue that touches greatly on tunneling after he was "called out" for tunneling despite video from his perspective showing he clearly wasn't.

In regards to the OP here though, true tunneling (focusing solely on one person to remove them from the game immediately) is not necessary but what many consider tunneling (not seeing anyone else and going for the already injured target) can be necessary to progress the killer objective.

  • @SpaceCoconut I feel like a lot of people don't read or understand what most killers are concerned about with this. Like you said, it's the last second switch that's the problem, not seeing a bunch of flashlights in the lobby and swapping to Franklin's or Lightborn. It's the Survivor ability to change before the killer can react that is the issue with only killers being locked. If Survivors were locked when they begin searching for a match it would solve the issue at hand while keeping things fair for both sides and maintain the objective of allowing killers to have individual MMR ratings.

  • @KRG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1462604#Comment_1462604

You do realise that killers are different with different abilities and survivors are just skins?

About the items you can always change your build if you want to use franklins for example.

You guys need to stop with this whining thing im getting sick of it honestly.

I shouldn't have to waste a perk slot on Hag or Wraith to eliminate multiple flashlights, an item that completely guts their powers. Also, the issue is them being able to switch last minute so I can't equip Franklins or Lightborn before the match starts. I'm okay with being locked but I feel Survivors shouldn't be able to switch items last minute, which incidentally would prevent them from switching their "skin" with a different items already equipped.

  • Depends on how you want to play, for me personally I'd recommend Feng, Jake, Claudette, and Meg first. Lithe is my go to exhaustion perk and Alert is great for information, Iron Will is one of the best Survivor perks it's great for escaping chases and avoiding detection when injured, Self Care comes in handy or Botany Knowledge when playing altruistic and Empathy is great for info and altruism, and Meg has Adrenaline which is great but a little situational and quick and quiet which is very useful.

  • Agreed, I have great perks on Deathslinger and Demogorgon from bloodwebs RNG but I'm a potato with both.

  • My proposal is to have a condition where only one DS can be active at a time. That would help with the egc DS plays and show that "Hey, I've hooked someone else, I'm not tunneling you!" DS in and of itself isn't the issue, the issue arises when you have two or more in a match paired with Unbreakable and BT. They synergize too well with one another.

  • Cause no DC penalty right now and a lot of people still hate the Doc rework. As Hag I've had at least one DC per match. Some Survivors think certain killers are unfair or dislike them so much they'd rather DC like children than tough it out and possibly do well or at least get some BP for their troubles.

  • The only two changes Pig needs is make it so she can't see the boxes and find a way to reduce the RNG for bear trap removal. Nearly every Pig I play against tunnels the RBT out of the game because they know the Survivor will get it off first try or almost die from it, there's almost no in-between.

  • Yeah, it lets you know if you're on a gen or something like that "hey, I hear this humming and need to be more vigilant cause Freddy is nearby."

Ah, I see. I feel like it would be a lot better if they added/replaced one of those abilities with one where every 7 seconds a survivor is sleeping, their position is revealed for 3 seconds or something like that. I feel like the way it is right now doesn’t really intimidate survivors the way it should.

The idea is that oblivious is supposed to provide that oppression/intimidation but they added the nursery rhyme as a terror radius for him that makes it kinda pointless. If they had the nursery rhyme be random across the map instead of a terror radius that would add to the intimidation factor since Freddy is supposed to have power in the dream world but that would potentially make him a little too OP.

  • Faves are Otz, Ardetha, Yerv, and Tru3 (albeit Tru3 uploads way too much imo)

    Least favorite/almost hate is Noob.

I also enjoy Space Coconut when he's not bemoaning the state of the game for 10 minutes straight. Much more prefer his gameplay/informative videos, his vids got me into Hag initially.

    • Inflicts deep would state on the victim

Deep wound is a joke to me, that'd be better for a yellow or maybe green add-on but not red.

  • Odd, cause when I play "immersed" I get 4 gens and all the totems done by myself while watching hook trades happen constantly from across the map. Then when I am found I die on first hook as the rest of my team heals in the corner.....

  • Why not make it inflict broken status? Instead of being an insta down it makes it so they just can't heal for a minute like the negative aspect of For the People? That would be a fair trade off for an ultra rare offering without making it useless or OP.

With OoO you can still see them, but they cant see you. Thats why its REALLY good on fred since Object screws him so hard

Good to know, I haven't faced an OoO while running it yet.

  • It makes it so they can't see auras after getting hit by a basic attack, so no aura of Survivors on the hook and it counters bond, aftercare, empathy, not sure about OoO, but it renders all Survivor aura reading perks pointless.

  • I know right? Especially on the indoor maps

  • I've been using The Third Seal a lot lately. It does a lot of great work but if it's destroyed it doesn't change up my play style any. I've found using hexes like ruin or devour always get destroyed and aren't worth it but some can make a huge difference without actually making a difference to how you play.

  • I am getting Demo and Deathslinger up to 40 and have so many cakes on them now. It kinda sucks having those great offerings on meh killers but it just gives me the encouragement to try to get better with them. Or play them for farming if I want to get more BP.

Ever heard the term "supply follows demand?" If no one says they want springtrap, then devs won't get it.

But we don't need 50 threads with the same 12 people commenting in every one.

  • As a hybrid player I think they should keep the overheat but make it less punishing. There is absolutely no reason that a full charge to get to sprint gets up almost 1/3 of his overheat. And why does it cool down faster once full overheated? It should cool down faster when the bar is still red, not after it's turned white. Just reduce some numbers greatly and I think the overheat will be okay. Billy shouldn't be able to feather infinitely but he also shouldn't be gutted for playing efficiently.
