Its their cash cow they won't sell it its the only sorta successful game they have ever had. They are gonna milk the community until it dies.
That makes sense. The reason they won't properly balance it is because they can't. Bunch of journeyman programmers that stumbled onto a good idea, but their own inexperience will cause it to fail.
-
Oh yeah, it's about to be a dark time for survivors. We're going to be buried in salt.
-
I run it so the game lasts longer than 6 minutes. I run it so I can player weaker killers like plague and not have to worry about depipping. Now I'm going to have to run my best killer with the sweatiest tactics, perks and addons in order to have a chance at winning.

K. Have fun being miserable!
Long as I'm not alone. The salt is going to be epic.
-
It's a short term gain, long term loss. They're looking at keeping new survivors but they're going to drive killers away. Lose 100 killers and 400 survivors will have a longer queue time. Lose 100 survivors and not much happens.

This won't make you feel better, trust me. You're taking revenge on players that probably didn't have nothing to do with this. If anything, this is a chance to improve altogether
You don't know me, this is going to make me feel a WHOLE lot better. Misery loves company, and if BHVR is going to screw over this many killers, I feel it's only fair to let the survivors feel the pain too.

I don't know.. I guess I'm a minority on this, but I've always debated that ruin was/is a bad perk and I don't run it anyway. The thing is it helps you stomp bad teams which you would beat anyway and at the same time good teams work through it just fine, so to me it's just a wasted perk slot which could be used for a much more useful tracking/chase perk. I'm actually hoping that killers will now experiment with new builds and see that the whole "I need ruin to do good" is just a placebo. My personal opinion though.
Regarding the actual change - I might actually use it now with the change - not because it will be strong, but because it introduces a new mechanic that might be fun to play around with.
Every time I've tried running without it, one of two things happens.
- The gens are done in 5 minutes, gates are open in 6, and even if I get a 2-3K, I still depip.
- I get looped by strong survivors and am lucky to get a 1K.
Oh, I know exactly what build I'm going to be running. Slug noed nurse. The gloves are off.

You are blackmailing BHVR to derank and, quoting you, "make survivors life as miserable as possible" even to the point of deranking to make newer players suffer... How do you people even live knowing that you're taking your frustrations on innocent people that didn't ask for any of this...? It legitemely makes me want to cry.
Don't care, the crybaby survivors are the reason ruin is getting nerfed in the first place. I'm going to give them something to cry about, and I hope every other killer does the same. BHVR caused this, not me.
-
They're full of sh-it. Like, blue eyes turning brown full. There's not a single killer that uses it for the emblems, they use it so the game isn't over in 6 minutes.
-
@NurseMainBTW said:
Thank God... All this blackmailing was making me sick.
Like, I haven't seen such a negative response like this ever!
Tells you something about how piss poorly balanced the gen times are. I genuinely think BHVR had finally gone too far and the game is seriously going to suffer for it.
-
Every time I've tried, the gens are done in under 5 minutes, the gates are open in under 6, and even with a 2-3K, I get entity displeased.

@Accullla said:
I don't know, I think it's funnier now.
Once the PTB is out, some people will have actually tested things and would potentially know what they're talking about, meaning much less ridiculousness, unfortunately!
Ruin will rarely be used after this. There will be absolutely no reason to use it. It's going to have all of the limitations of the old ruin with no upside. They should have deleted it entirely rather than insult our intelligence with this "it's going to be an OP late game perk" bull-shite.
-
The devs have this mentality of "I can do well without __ perk, so everyone should be able to".
-
I am going to make red/purple rank survivors as miserable as possible, purposely derank myself, then make the green/yellow rank survivors as miserable as possible. I'm talking slugging, tunneling, noed, ebony moris, tombstone meyers, insidious camping, the works. I'm going to do this for about two weeks, then quit the game and go back to Deep Rock Galactic, 7 days to die, and StarCraft 2.

without a doubt the killer community is extremely toxic and bullying towards devs. there are 2 sides to this game and i don't see survivors bullying devs like this . its disgusting. devs should not even pay attention to these kind of players
Of course the survivors aren't bullying them, all of the recent changes have been designed around their fun.

How are the changes to doctor a nerf? being able to shock and hit without having to change stances seems pretty good to me. Maybe static blast could make use of an small tweak.
Early reports are talking about a 3 second stun to the doctor after shocking someone. So basically a nurse style fatigue without injuring the survivor. That's a major nerf.
-
BUT THEY WONT!!!!!! If they change gen speeds, it will be buffing them, not nerfing.

Gen rushing doesn't bring anyone any points or pips. But if you're not there to chase survivors off the gens, what else are they going to do?
You assume that the survivors care about points and pips. It's about bullying, and BHVR just gave them the green light to do it.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
lol all this for a just a ruin nerf seriously?
It's not just about the nerf. I am going to make it my personal mission to make survivors as miserable as BHVR is making killers. Mori, noed, tunneling, tombstone meyers, insidious camping, etc. I'm done being nice, and I can only pray that I get a dev or two in my matches. Every time I get salt in chat, I'm going to direct them here to take it out on the devs.
-
Oh wait, let me guess, we have your permission to not run it.. I remember now.

Exactly, I don't need to taste a turd to know it tastes like #########.

@Mandy said:
Can I remind you that it's still got to be tested on the PTB - numbers can still be adjusted, please just try it out, then give feedback on it.
Effen lol....Nurse changes are hated by all and she's the least played killer. Her numbers haven't been adjusted. Dev's must have put you mods on high alert today.
-
I don't care if it's acceptable or not, it's my new play style. I'm going to make a lot of survivors very miserable.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals said:
The new Hex: Ruin hasn't even been tested on the PTB and people are already slandering it and talking about how survivors should receive equivalent nerfs.
Wait until the PTB rolls out, try it and give constructive feedback.
A developer post about potential changes should not result in unqualified survivor nerfs.
I don't need the PTB to spot a garbage change. It's a late game perk that will never make it to the late game.
-
@altruistic said:
Nobody cares if you leave the game.
80%+ of players using the perk, just as Self Care did. It needed to be nerfed, sorry to bring you back to reality.
You're sure as sh-it going to care when killers stop playing killer. In case you haven't noticed, this game needs killers, otherwise it's not a game.
-
Pfft. DS and unbreakable are going to be the new meta, because killers are going to have to slug and tunnel to survive without ruin.
-
@Mandy said:
These are not the full patch notes - just a starter of what is in the PTB, you'll find out the full information tomorrow.
Oh goody! I'm quite sure there will be something in there that will piss off 80% of the survivors and destroy their chances of winning....
-
Are you ######### kidding? They're going to get a buff.
-
@beatddb said:
I thought that at first, but it regresses the gen right after a survivor stops working on it, without the needing of the killer to kick it. They could've explained it better at the notes.
It still wont matter, the survivors have the numbers game to constantly rotate out, plus ruin will still be gone in 30-100 seconds anyway. It needs to not be a hex if they do this.

Of course this is true - after all there has been no recent changes that have affected killers positively have there? Oh wait, Freddy got a really large rework and is now pretty strong, Balanced Landing got altered and that was a huge Killer complaint and many many more things. Fact is the Developers are not killer or survivor sided, they make changes for the better health of the game!
I'm trying to be respectful here, but are you paying attention? It's been nothing but killer nerfs going back to September and not small ones either... They butchered nurse, oni, and legion, plus they nerfed Freddy...Sound is broken, matchmaking is broken, the emblem system is broken...Better nerf ruin to nothing....
-
No, this is another cash grab. They keep talking about how it's best combined with surveillance, which will force you to buy one of their most expensive DLC's to get it.
Any survivors that play against me....They're going to have a REAL bad time in tunnel/slug town.
-
I do wish this was a joke, but we are a long way from April 1st.... Just about the only good perk that killers had to stop the gen rush is now gone.....Convinced the devs don't have a brain in their head. The ONLY thing you've done here is guarantee fewer killers, and the ones that are left are going to tunnel like their lives depend on it.
This ruin will NEVER come in to play because the totem is still going to be gone instantly, and SWF are still going to have one rabbit and the rest will be on gens.
-
@Peanits said:
I would definitely say give it a try first. Having played around with it, it can be pretty nasty once you get some pressure. Combine it with Surveillance and you also get some outrageous tracking (since generators automatically regress). You'll always know which generators are being worked on.
It's still a hex totem, thus it's never going to stay up long enough to get pressure.

Yeah the rank system could do with a rework, question is how? I mean maybe they should consider matchmaking based of off hours but even then I've seen many with 1000h that has made some really questionable plays. They can't scrap ranks that's the thing though.
Hours won't work either. I have 132 and I can 4K against 500-1000 hour survivors. I don't get nervous until I see 1500 hours. Someone like me would DESTROY 130 hour survivors.
-
The emblem system is totally jacked to start with, when you add in DC's, it's worse.
-
I've afked vs a sweaty gen rush team, but I've never rage quit.
-
Matchmaking is supposedly broken, I think it's a lack of killers. It will make you better over time..
Me three weeks ago...
Me now...
-
Because it would cause lobby dodging and it would be abused by people that can't accept that they lost fair and square.
-
It's what makes them OP. Nothing can be done with discord or teamspeak, short of removing SWF, which they will never do.
-
I would love all kinds of volume options. Turn off chase music for instance, but it would be too OP. I find it amusing that the skill check always happens right when the hook scream happens. Got me more than once when I was still new to the game.
-
BBQ counter mostly. Every other time, I will take my own looping skills over a locker.
-
The thing about this game is that you have many different levels of players and certain things seem OP, depending on your skill level. New players will hate Ruin, NOED, and BBQ, but experienced players don't have issue with it. Where a normal game is balanced at the top level of play, BHVR seems to balance around the average. This can be an issue when you get top level players, because they exploit the things that are supposed to be there to help the lesser players.
My main issues come in with a lack of reasonable counter play. DS with the doors open has no counter play. Head on has no counter play. 90* flashlights have no counter play. These things by themselves aren't strong and are great for solo, but when they get in the hands of a strong SWF team, it's insanely overpowered.
Overall, the game isn't in a terrible state balance wise. A tweak here or there and it could be solved.

look i was just trying to make it not super broken lol
The more I think it about it, if he's TRULY invisible before stalking and not like wraith invisible, he could be decent, but if there's any indication that he's nearby, survivors would abuse you.
-
I did that as trapper. Tried like 10 games to get the 5 traps, finally got it and I didn't have the challenge selected. I cried a little.
-
Opposite for me. Rank 7 killer, I get instant lobbies with rank 2 survivors. As rank 9 Survivor, it's a 5 minute wait.
-
People are toxic little children. I had a Wraith that was trying to get it done. He had two in the basement, one slugged, and me injured. Knew I was screwed, so I was coming to let him have the challenge, but the slugged nea had unbreakable, got up, and booked it to the other end of the map.
-
No. 3 minutes is excessive. They honestly just need to make the maps smaller.
-
New map is too dark, but it's still not as bad as rotten fields.

That’s very interesting you instantly resort to name calling to try to get your point across. I see it’s no use trying to argue or to point out other issues and that it’s not the only crutch perk. You must be a difficult person to communicate with in real life as well. Must be a reason why you play killer and not swf. I’ll see ya around kiddo
I wasn't aware that "Junior, and Sonny" were name calling, especially when I'm older than you. As for rude behavior, lets look at how you started, then continued this conversation.....
"Lmao. “I’m a pretty good killer, rank 7” Omegalul."
"as a “pretty good killer” those perks should be cake walks to play against for you"
"If you wish to speak about your issues as a baby killer dealing with the few half decent nerfed into the ground perks that survivors have to deal with toxic killers, make a different thread."
Those are childish and antagonistic comments to someone you've never played against. I will leave you with a simple request.... Grow up.

Oh yeah, let's deactive a perk that is anti tunneling, in the end game, where you are 100% being tunneled, awesome fix.
How about we stop crying about it, if survivors make it to the EGC you failed at doing you're objective, protect generators, so that's your fault.. survivors should not get punished for it
First off, you've got to play the entire match, you haven't failed at anything until they've escaped. Second off, the biggest complaint about tunneling is that it gives you no chance to do anything else, so no PIP, no bloodpoints, but by the time the EGC comes around, that's over. There are no gens or doors to patrol, the only thing you have left is tunneling.
You down someone near the door at the EGC and hook him, he's on second hook now. His buddy rushes the hook and unhooks him. The one that just unhooked leaves the match, now the one lying on the ground has DS, so you can't pick him up, but he's close enough to the open door to crawl away. There is no counter play at that point. So either DS needs to be deactivated at that point, or the exit needs a mini bloodwarden where a survivor can't crawl to safety with the killer standing directly on the exit.

Thank you very much for your words and the little tips, sometimes we are so blinded by the fury that we do not think. I assure you that if they usually are, if I touched people around my range it would not happen, it has only happened since it puts me with red ranks, I will try to put other strategies into play "A toxic murderer is not born is done.
