Maybe add a reputation bar?
The game has a feature to rate survivors and killers. Why doesn't it impact anything? What do you think of an idea to sort out the players? It'd be nice to see toxic players go with other toxic players and good ones play with good ones.
I get it, there will be a lot of people who will just dislike everyone just because. Maybe add some kind of bonus for liking someone? Like, you can dislike someone but you'll have to sacrifice your potential bonus for that.

Because it would cause lobby dodging and it would be abused by people that can't accept that they lost fair and square.
Too many people would down rep for the wrong reasons.
I don't see it adding any value to the game.
If it was positive only, sure. Considering the amount of dbd players who are enraged when you beat them (or even when they beat you, sometimes) everyone would have a bad rating otherwise.
There are way too many sore losers for this to be a remotely good idea.
So you all just gave up on the idea because you think the community sucks? And you don't even want to try to implement something that would encourage people to be better? Some world we live in.
You know, there will still be a difference in reputation between players who play "inappropriately" and players who act toxic. It's hard to tell how big will it be but, I think, it'll still be enough to separate players. It would just be important to motivate people to like each other rather than dislike to keep the difference.
You all just say "well, people will just dislike and that's it". C'mon...
Not really unless you can only see the reputation after the game so it's basically the same as it ever has been but now you have badges of honor(Salt) in your name.
I agree with this. I think a positive-only rating system would actually be good for the game and for the community, and we basically already have one in place (the "give props" feature). The only problem is, props don't seem to do anything currently, but I think it has a lot of potential to be expanded into something that incentivises positive behaviour. The more props you get, the more your reputation increases, and perhaps you could earn cosmetic rewards, like charms or iridescent shards, if your reputation is good enough.
The League of Legends Honour system is a good example of the kind of thing I'm envisioning: https://leagueoflegends.fandom.com/wiki/Honor
Survivors would report killers for:
Tunnelling, camping, nodding, head shaking, killing them, using Ruin, using NOED, using Insidious, using PGTW, 3 gen stratting, mindgaming/outplaying survivors, and/or using their power effectively.
Killers would report survivors for:
Looping, using God windows, genrushing, using DS, using BT, mindgaming/outplaying them, tbagging, nodding, shaking their heads, bodyblocking, getting the hatch, playing in SWF, using toolboxes, using keys, using flashlights, using quick heals.
Survivors would report each other for:
Sandbagging, being potato, suiciding on hook, using No Mither, leaving them to die on hook, leading the killer to each other, and not saving despite the killer camping.
This wouldn't work, sorry man.
Come on, this isn't Deceit. Besides, people would abuse the hell out of it.
You underestimate the potential for toxicity that people are capable of.
maybe you weren't here where we had event with 2nd objective, when survs had to gather nectar, and most of them were gathering all they could and then tell killers to kill them xd
so from amazing idea with 2nd objective and great event, community made it dog crap and pretty much unplayable for other players
we have challenges (especially from 1st and 2nd tome) you could do it over time, but survs were trying to speedrun them with throwing game in the same time
so yea, this community can make everything into ....,
and even if you tell me "well thats survivors doing" killers that wants to make their archives and if i remember correctly in (in that event you had to play both roles and gather on both sides) they did that too (to not play too much as surv)
because its hard to tell killer is throwing game because he is throwing it only for himself
Sounds like a good alternative.
Sidenote...
Filthy survivor main...
This is actually a dope idea. Like a rep bar above survivors heads that changes with how they’re rated. I love it.
The survivor used DS, DH, Adrenaline and BT? "-rep for being a crutch user."
Killer used Ruin, BBQ, Pop and Enduring? "-rep for being a crutch user."
Survivor accidentally ran the killer to someone working on a gen? "-rep, he lead the killer to me"
Killer farmed? "+rep nice killer"
It's so easy to exploit such a system. I don't see any survivor that died in a trial give killers a +rep.
Would cause lobby dodging, like someone else already stated.
Well yeah. If the community sucks and you want to implement a community policing system then that's the nail on the head.
What'll happen is you'll get 1 * for winning as killer then everyone will dodge you or you'll solo and they'll rage and 1*you.
It would be abused by people who already abuse the reporting system. The same people that think body blocking the hook is reportable or tbagging or flashlights, camping, tunneling, etc.
Any implementation of this I can think of would be pointless at best and encourage more dodging at worst.
You already have people that are surprised when they figure out that camping, tbagging or whatever else isn't a reportable and bannable offense. You'd probably also get the people genuinely "playing for salt" trying to get a bad rep just like they desperately bait people to leave messages on their Steam profiles 😄
If it was only positive it'd be better, but at that point it's again kinda pointless.
In a perfect world, that would be great. Although I've seen people report each other for incredibly petty things, or accuse killers of camping or tunneling when they were playing perfectly fairly. I wouldn't want to see someone get bad matches just because they played against some people that didn't like the way they played.
Then make it so you can ONLY commend people, and you can prop people for different things "A Usefull Distraction" or "A Helping Hand" for example, Overwatch uses a system like this and it works great there, I see no reason for it to not work in dbd aswell
This is unfortunately true. The toxicity is real in this game. I would support a system that put lobby dodgers on a lower queue though. Like if you are a killer that never dodges lobbies then you should be put at the top of the queue for lobbies. That seems fair.
Given how the community is, if they ever did something like this, it would be one more trolling tool and I would just give up on the game for good. I already came close twice, this would definitely do it.
Overwatch is also a symmetrical game. The people you're playing against could be your teammates in the next match. In DbD, on the other hand, it's asymmetrical, and a lot of people only play one side. There ends up being a lot of animosity because of that.
But more importantly, having it influence matchmaking in any way would have the same effect, even if they are only positive. You'd still be reliant on people using the system (and using it correctly).
We are too toxic for a reputation system. God damn lol
I feel like since ive started playing (Which was only like half a year ago) the game has gotten less toxic. Still by far the most toxic game I have ever played but not as toxic
Oh, it influencing matchmaking is a different matter entirely, I was thinking about the whole reputation thing being just to show that you're a good sport.
