I think you're reading waaay too much into it.
Eruption wasn't even supposed to be changed this patch. It was being saved for the mid-chapter, but was bumped up to now due to popular demand.
Yes but this is not even the first time BHVR has done something like this before. BHVR has provided distractions from players to drive attention away from certain elements of the game multiple times before since theyve done it with even more controversial things. It's also not uncommon to see other developers do this as well, since it's a common thing in the game development industry.

Map Prevent is disabled so people can try out the reworked Red Forest and Shelter Woods.
But I know your pain, because my and my friends got The Pale Rose 12 times in a row when doing perk roulette SWFs.

her chase add-on are under-tuned numerically. the iri add-on requires survivor to activate drone. the drone needs to turn off and survivor needs to walk into the drone area for you to gain haste. why can't add-on just give you 5% haste for using a drone?
her purple add-on is more reliable for haste... but 2% haste? that is not enough for weak m1 killer for her. it is not even bloodlust 1. At least make it bloodlust 1.
Her other add-on called randomised strobe DOES NOT have a lingering effect. It only applies 1 time bonus of -5% hindered for 3 seconds. 3 seconds. that is so little. at least increase duration to like 5-10 seconds or make it linger like purple haste add-on.
I think its more that these add-on are too weak. not that their rarity is high. they just kinda suck making 3 gen the only viable way to play her.
They are too weak given that they are Rare and Very Rare addons, but reducing their rarity would warrant their weakness and make them easier to obtain for most players; making the generator defense addons a higher rarity would also warrant their strength because they are too oppressive for Common and Uncommon addons.

I have won 20/21 games on Rancid Abattoir with one tie.Okay, then how is that map fair? Because that doesn't sound 'fair', that sounds massively killer sided.
MMR is a horrible system, you can face god-like teams as Killer, or face people with 2 hours on the game, because MMR does not measure skill but measure the proxy for skill (which, as you might guess, is an incredibly flawed system).

Most of the MacMillan and Autohaven maps are Killer-sided I feel, besides Gas Heaven and Groaning Storehouse.
RPD is probably Killer-sided but the map is just miserable, Midwich is Killer-sided.
I think Lery's is Killer-sided as well, though perhaps Killer-leaning would be more accurate. I think the same of The Game, depending on the Killer.
You already mentioned Dead Dawg
You know what, Im definitely going to have the unpopular opinion here, but I think Dead Dawg is one of the most neutral leaning maps in the game, and is an example of really well done balance since it does not lean towards a particular side.

Keep in mind that BHVR also releases event cosmetics but keeps their ingame time below 4 weeks just to ensure that they never cost Iridescent Shards (since they are treated different apparently)... They did it with the Halloween, Christmas, and Lunar New Year stuff. I do not think they care about this promise they made that much honestly.

I hate to break it to you but you can still play against her. People managed to do that before they every added her directional audio. We also don't know, if it's a bug. Sound occlusion has always been a thing in this game. Killers had to deal with it for years and it got never solved. Now that survivors are on the receiving end of that particular stick it's a problem though.
I think they should revert it to how it was with the directional audio but making it seem like the world is ending is ridiculous.
I have no idea why they touched these perks. Pretty much all of them are dead now. You could use them before and they would give you value every now and then while not being too strong. But now? Even Infectous Fright, which was quite decent before, is just bad. I guess they want us to run Eruption instead. It still works fine because you see the auras.
The Leverage nerf is probably a meme. That perk was already trash. This makes no sense. What reason could anyone possibly have to run this perk, when Sloppy Butcherer exists.
I kind of agree with this... I basically had to relearn how to play against Spirit, and it is possible, just insanely difficult compared to before (keep in mind I have a hearing impairment).
And unironically addons like Furin are made significantly worse since Furin isnt bugged and works normally (and somehow fixes the directional phasing too... which does in fact mean that Spirit's normal phase audio is bugged. Which btw is the only way I found out that it is bugged and not intended).

They don't move away from hooks, they move a little when first placed because when you begin placing one, the position you're in at that moment is where it's placed. The animation has it flying out of your hand a moment later (by which time you've walked forward a bit) and then it moves back to that original position.
They are still destroyed when within 16 meters of a hooked survivor, this has not changed.
From my experience, Ive had them move in the direction that I am moving, not where I came from/started the animation from. Perhaps it is a bug then?

This isn't even that. This is "fixing what ain't broke"
Correction, this is "taking perfectly fine object and smashing it to pieces with a hammer", it provides momentary happiness to see something get destroyed for the sake of being destroyed, until you realize that it was something valuable and you miss it.
-
Just use Nemesis in the build... it may sound dumb, but hear me out.
Game Afoot is only as effective as your ability to swap the Obsession. Even though the perk itself does swap the Obsession, you need to actually hit them to get the 5% Haste effect. Using Nemesis swaps the Obsession upon being Pallet Stunned which perfectly fits the need for Game Afoot since you are going to be chasing Survivors and breaking Pallets anyways, it just always ensures the 5% Haste.

I was wondering, does DS count in MMR?
DCs do not count as Kills in MMR, they neither increase nor decrease your MMR. And while it would be nice to have DCs count as deaths for Adepts, I think BHVR is afraid of making that change because the implications would require them to change how MMR works.

I play all kinds of games. DBD and Slay the Spire are my "play whenever" games. I play CoD MW2 for multiplayer. Then I usually have one single player game I focus on.
It was HiFi Rush but I just beat it (highly recommend). I'm trying to get into Phoenix Point as it's been on my list for a while but I'm very slow at getting into new games.
Also a bit more unique but I am streaming Elden Ring as well. Usually I'd only do one single player game at a time but with the size of ER and that I am streaming it on Twitch, I'm not exclusively playing it as I often just don't feel like streaming and/or my health hiccups make me not want to play a game as difficult as a Souls game.
Slay the Spire is really fun... even if I am horrible at the game lol.

Ill be fine though, I mean, Ive done it before I can definitely do it again, but I reckon it will take longer to relearn it considering how Im overall just not use to gaming with a keyboard, it's something Im relatively new with... it also doesnt help that Im having to unlock all perks again on my PC account.

Im liking most of these Myers buffs yall throwing out but i wouldn't want to see TS added to basekit at all. When huntress, deathslinger, curving billy, or a pin balling blight land a hit from a crazy angle I'll go "nice hit". Myers do the bare minimum and watch a few people on gens (can kill u now)...not nice!
Ts is way to strong given the low amount skill u need to obtain it. TS Myers is about as fun as getting gen rush! leaving u with the feeling u didn't even get to play the game. Myers should absolutely not have the power to kill someone before hooking them added to basekit.
Billy can get downs by curving around shack whereas other Killers cannot. Blight can quickly position himself in areas to get hits and use their speed to their advantage to make safe loops incredibly dangerous whereas other Killers cannot. Huntress can hit people and down them from across the map considering they are skilled enough and have the information they need to do so, whereas other Killers cannot.
Myers is still an M1 Killer, he has to work around limitations that Blight, Billy, and Huntress do not have to deal with (or deal with to the same extent). His power is simple, and his skill ceiling is lower, but they have less potential to get hits and downs that others Killers get as a result, but I consider Myers to not be threatening at all, I never worry about being stalked "too much" since once Im out of that stalk juice that Myers needs, Im basically a "non-target", I become an expensed resource, there is no longer a threat since 99%ing Evil WIthin is useless if Im all juiced out, being moriable adds some consequence/weight to it IMO, and it still is counterable with lockers.
Keep in mind, this is coming from a Billy main, someone who has spent time dedicating myself to the craft of curving and such. I have been through the hundreds and thousands of hours of pain that it takes, so I at least have some credibility when I say this.

I think it would make Myers more intimidating since it would make Survivors actually want to avoid being stalked, it provides more consequences to playing carelessly, and again, it's based on the Tombstone addons and provides an area for reworking those addons.
It has nothing to do with "other Killers have a built in Mori, so why not Myers", because that mindset would be stupid to have to begin with.

Servers are more expensive than you think.
While a completely unrelated game, Battlebit Remastered (which is an indie game) spends 12k per month per regional servers, which is a lot considering the amount of regional servers you need to cover most areas in the world AND the fact that yearly expenses add up quickly.
With a game like DBD, they are going to need more servers in general since they run servers with high population but lower capacity of players per server; which as a result is significantly more expensive than what I mentioned with Battlebit Remastered. This isnt even including the costs of server maintenance and repairs.
This isnt even considering the fact that Battlebit itself is a smaller game, with a smaller community, that also does not have to deal with cross-play services, which means their costs are vastly lower than that of DBD's. You can probably just piece together some sort of guess estimation of what you might think it is, but it gets really costly and leaves BHVR in a tough situation since they have to consider if the cost of the servers can be covered by the region actually providing enough funding to keep the servers running to begin with.
Keep in mind, all of this is being funded while other things also need funding and development which can be INSANELY costly. Things are not as simple as you make them out to be.

Because having a bunch of abilities doesn't mean match when none of them are especially powerful.
-Good survivors literally don't care about darkness it's just a mild annoyance.
-The teleport loses a ton of impact when you're spending half the game breaking out of locked lockers.
-Their antiloop is decent but holding W isn't that hard and it's a 12 second cooldown.
Dredge is very decent but they can't do anything that crazy in terms of lethality and calling for a nerf for a killer that nobody plays is very odd.
I would also like to point out how people with vision impairments are negatively impacted during nightfall, on some maps I literally cannot see anything because all the colors just blend together. So handling nightfall does not necessarily depend upon skill since some people cannot inherently handle it to begin with.

That is a fair point.
Also it would be fair to point out that antibiotics should be used sparingly to begin with since mutations that build resistance to antibiotics can occur.
It also bothers me when people fail to make the distinction between a virus/plague and the disease, since the diseases are the direct result of the initial virus infection, and while diseases can have the property of viruses (since they are heavily tied together), they are vastly different considering they are measuring the point of infection and it's effects on the body (e.g. viruses are when the first viral matter enters the body and leaves the body into a new host, while diseases are used to classify it's current state in a host and long term effects).

BHvR should invest in this technology.
Not really.
I had the AI redo the perks 72+ times (multiply that by 3, and you get 216 perks I had to read through) because most perks were already existing in current DBD, but also AI only uses existing mechanics, it does a horrible job at trying to introduce or make new types of mechanics and perks.
Humans, of course, can easily make perks and Killers without needing to go through this process, not only that but we understand the nuances to designing new mechanics for the game whereas an AI doesnt, humans know what is and isnt possible with the engine the game is in and the limitations that exist where as an AI doesnt.
You could argue "well the technology is not as advance and ChatGPT is not meant for stuff like this", but humans will produce more interesting things in less time with less effort than sorting through the results an AI generates; humans understand the nuances that AI will never understand.

Can I just ask why you don't have much faith? They've produced some incredible horror movies in the past (Get Out, Us, Split, Sinister, among others). I think it more-so depends on who the director will be. They even mention working with James Wan who co-created Saw and Insidious. I actually have decent faith in this project. Though I will say, depends largely on whoever directs this. Also, the upcoming FNAF movie with Blumhouse will probably be a sneak peak at how they want to turn video games into movies. If the FNAF one is actually good, I trust the DBD one will be too.
Blum House release some good films sometimes, but most of their other films are basically just the "shovelware" of horror. They do not have a consistent form of quality control because they care more about quantity over quality in most instances.
Also most movie companies in general do a horrible job of converting horror games to horror movies (I mean, just look at the Silent Hill and Resident Evil films).

Definitely not SH: Pain Resonance, if perks are nerfed based on: 1. balance, 2. people complaining; then SH: PR will definitely remain the same. The only complaints Ive seen regarding SH: PR is with teammates not getting off the generator when Dead Man's Switch is in play, and even, it's not complaining about the perk itself, it's complaining about the awful teammates. And balance-wise, it's in a good spot.

@Chocolate_Cosmos said:
While you could do that it would be big waste of time.
Reseting normal pallet takes 4 seconds and gives info to the killer that you are there. Same goes for fake pallets, they also give away info (unless you play the brown add-on).
I don't think this perk change does much extra againts this type of Freddy.
I mean if you know someone is in chase or the Killer is carrying someone, nothing is stopping you from checking a nearby pallet or two. Id imagine in coordinated teams it could completely hard counter DP Freddy, since I think the perk will be ran anyways because you can reset pallets from "hold W" gameplay.
-
@Technature said:
Oh boy.
I guess if no one rigged the map, people are of similar skill, all that, things as balanced as possible.
Freddy I think on average.
Knight has an advantage indoors.
Twins is just difficult to actually play but can be nasty in the right hands.
And Clown I feel gets a bad reputation because nobody wants to use yellow bottles.
Freddy on the other hand gets less teleport spots as time goes on and his abilities otherwise only work when people are asleep. Being unable to see him far away most of the time generally doesn't do that much.
Honestly, Im just going to say it, the Knight is not as bad as people make them out to be. The only "issue" the Knight has is that their power is boring to play with and against.
I have always stood by the idea that Dream Pallet Freddy and Sadako are the worst Killers in the game atm, mostly leaning towards DP Freddy, since their power is entirely countered by memorization (and soon to be Any Means Necessary since you can just drop all the DPs and reset any actual pallets with no consequence).

Even then, I thought old Deathslinger was fun to be in chase with. His old power was much more thrilling to play with and against.
Also with Billy, I would like to point out how only their insta-saw addons were an issue, all of his addons being gutted didnt make sense, nor were the basekit nerfs to their power. Even as a Billy main, I really feel like they did him dirty compared to the Nurse nerf.

What r u doing to make people hate you bro?😭 If ur face camping or tunneling every match I think your solution is to not do that lmao
I dont even camp or tunnel, and most of my matches I bring gimmicky and meme builds. I seriously have no idea who is doing this nor do I understand why they are doing this.
It also concerns me that I might not be the only person dealing with this as well, if they go to these lengths to harass me, surely Im not the only one, there are probably people before me that had to deal with this, and people who will deal with this once they move onto a new person to harass.

🤷🏻♂️ remove your social media association?
kinda an obvious solution. maybe i'm just big brained her.
not that you should have to suffer or anything. it's not your fault the world is full of scumbags.
but if you know that they exist - which you should if you're an adult who isn't completely sheltered from reality - then you should have at least realized that there are certain levels of safety you have to take to protect yourself.
there's a reason why people carry stun guns and pepper spray when walking home from work or taking a train or bus.
The issue is that this has been persistent for a really long time. I have already removed all association between my social media accounts and my Steam account but Im suck in a situation where the people harassing me already know it to begin with.
Another issue I would like to bring up is that some of these individuals are apart of groups that go out of their way to slander me outside of social media. As Ive said before, I have been DDOSed, but also DOXed, leading to my personal information along with slander being published on "free speech" forums in which I can only remove the slanderous claims by paying arbitration fees (which I cannot do it, nor will I do it). This however has stopped a few weeks ago, at least from what I can see.
They also found out that I am friends with smaller DBD streamers, and some of them have been using alternative accounts to use hacked clients to even stream snipe and harass me and my friends whenever we play DBD, which has lead to a situation where people have stop associating with me because they do not want to be harassed like I am. (Which thankfully BHVR has been taking action to deal with hacking since this has gone down a lot since.)
This entire issue just stems from pissing off the wrong individuals who have too much free time on their hands. It's a weird situation overall since I do not know many individuals who have had to deal with this, and I do know some of the pieces of information but not enough to exactly pinpoint who are the figures behind this.
My only idea as for "what do I do now?" has been to rebrand and change everything to move on from the situation. At the same time, I have spent countless hours building up to where I am now, which is why I am so unsure on what to do.
-
Dont get me wrong, I do not like camping and tunneling, but this is the worst idea I have seen.

Here’s the buffs I would give to the exhaustion perks.
Smash hit-When you throw down a pallet break into a sprint at 150% for 3 seconds. If you stun the killer by any means or blind them break into a sprint at 150% for 4 seconds.
Head on-when you enter a locker the perk activates instantly. When you rush out of the locker stun the killer for 3 seconds and break into a sprint at 150% for 3 seconds(NOTE does not stack with smash hit).
Overcome-When you get damaged retain the speed boost for 2 seconds(if your injured and you get hit with BT or any endurance you get the overcome effect).
That’s pretty much it the other exhaustion perks are pretty much fine I would give a nerf to adrenaline but I’m not sure how they would react
I also feel as if Balanced Landing could have it's duration extended, since you need to be in specific parts of the map to use it (and on some maps, you cant even uses it anywhere).

Making it hard to throw a match WILL make people stop doing it, no matter how you say or believe it doesn't.
You know how much people DC when DC penalty is not there? same thing, people do it because it's easy, no exception.
We don't need overhaul to fix obvious hole in the bucket, just patch it up, it's SO easy.
Here is the thing, your solutions still do not do anything other than delay what is bound to happen.
If someone wants to throw the match, they are going to throw the match, why else would forums posts of people DCing, giving up on hook, working with the Killer, etc. be so common to begin with? Uh, I dont know, maybe because you cant "fix" people throwing matches, you can punish them or attempt to reduce it, but you cannot outright prevent it without major changes.

Yes and the only Killer addon version of that spreads them apart... which is unironically horrible for Killer.
You want Survivors be bunched together, since you are actively preventing multiple Survivors from doing their objective by pressuring them. And also spawning them closer to the Killer would be helpful for weaker Killers, but stronger Killers would already have that type of pressure anyways so it wouldnt matter to them.

Then just remove kobeing altogether and rework slippery meat, It's just that I will gladly take "survivor buff" over giving free rights of throwing the game for arbitrary reasons.
People will always throw a match regardless.
If Survivors cant DC, they will off themselves on hook. If they cant off themselves on hook, then they will just throw themselves in front of the Killer for all 3 hook states. Etc.
The only way to remove this would require large overhauls to the game that people on both sides will hate.

This would be a horrible idea, at least I think so.

It's not necessarily "vital" to the game, but it also isnt something to get upset over either.

Okay. Fair enough with lethal pursuer. Hmm…
okay how about this then.
instead of losing a health state what if it were instead players start the trial exhausted?
That would basically just only counter Sprint Burst and make the first chase piss easy (but Survivors would recover from Exhaustion by the time your second chase starts). I think the Survivors being injured idea could work if Blight, Nurse, and Spirit were not so strong in their current state (basically requiring a nerf); an alternative could be forcing the Survivors to spawn closer to the Killer and within closer proximity to one another (for easier pressure).

Bloodpoints.
