Whenever a thread about tunnelling comes up, usually from the perspective of acknowledging it as a problem and attempting to come up with a fix, there's a particular rhetorical trick that some people will use. I have some issues with this trick, and I'd like to lay out why I think it's misleading and unhelpful.
The trick is the following: Someone will liken tunnelling a survivor out to genrushing, and refer to it as "tunnelling gens", to claim both sides are capable of playing their objective very efficiently but people only care when a killer does it. I think this is kind of silly, because that's obviously not what "tunnelling gens" would actually be if and when any survivors did it.
To break down why, let's define what it means for the killer to tunnel for a moment. Tunnelling, to me, is defined as the following: A killer chasing a recently unhooked survivor while ignoring everyone else, with the intent of getting that survivor sacrificed as quickly as possible. In other words, the killer is focusing on one of four objectives to the detriment of others.
The killer's objective is the survivors, and the survivors' objective is the generators. Therefore, if the survivors were to "tunnel" a generator, they would be focusing on that generator, to the detriment of others. If any survivors actually tried this, it would be extremely easy for the killer to capitalise on it. It's definitely not genrushing, which is doing all their objectives as fast as possible with the aid of the strongest tools available.
The killer equivalent of genrushing isn't tunnelling, either. It'd be playing to all their objectives as quickly as possible-- IE, it'd be spreading pressure and chewing through the whole team's hook states as quickly as possible, not just one survivor's. As you can imagine, this doesn't really exist as a realistic strategy or even reliable outcome, much in the same way that survivors "tunnelling gens" doesn't exist as a strategy. In the killer's case, it's playing extremely extremely well, and in the survivor's it'd be just throwing the match. Opposites, but equal and contrasted with one another.
I personally just dislike the notion of "tunneling" being a term applying to Generators.
People can call it anything else, just saying "tunneling Generators" sounds awful and hardly makes sense compared to the implication of "tunneling Survivors" (considering one is literally an object and the other is an actual person).

Sounds like very weird bug. Do you have the same issue in all the protons, you've tried? Maybe it's something specific to one version of GE?
As I assume - you have Steam version of the game. Have you tried Steam Recommended Settings as well?
I swapped version of Proton to test and see.
I also forgot to update this, but I swapped from Debian12 to NixOS since I was having Nvidia Driver issues. It solved my Nvidia Driver issue (for the most part) but Ive been needing to install some OOM Killers to help deal with the RAM issue, not the best solution, but at least it is something.
Also I do have the game on Steam, I dont really know where to check for the Steam Recommended Settings but Ive been using ProtonDB (website) to generally find the most compatible version of Proton that work my games.

A character like Legion shouldn't even be in DBD. A killer that has a power that lets you track every survivor after hitting one just once and forces them to mend off the effect or it downs you is beyond OP. Not to mention the fact it lets him fast vault pallets and windows too. He's just too annoying to deal with.
Ive never struggled against Legion, yes they get the first hit but then what? Their chases are kind of bad outside the first hit and their power is easily countered by running away as soon as you hear the Terror Radius (and a teammate in Deep Wounds on the HUD).
I think Lights Out is a massive exception to this since the lack of Terror Radius reduces their counterplay by a lot and getting chain downs is basically free. I know someone will probably respond and say "oh, but the SWF, the boogeyman, oh" but SoloQ makes up a massive portion of the game to begin with and they get hammered the most by Legion in Lights Out.

When I played as Survivor, I havent had too much tunneling, but Ive seen a lot of camping. Killers are having a really hard time tracking which results in them feeling as if they have nowhere to go.
I personally dont mind tunneling since it's at least engaging but camping is kind of boring for me, they kind of just sit there and do nothing, people can play how they want, just not something I like to go against.
Ive been trying my best to avoid camping and tunneling as Killer myself but Ive still gotten a lot of hateful comments from people in the post-game chat. :(
-
You cannot HEAR the Terror Radius as Survivor, but for the sake of powers being able to work, it is still there, and you can still be within it, it's also why Killers still have the Red-Stain in front of them.

It depends where you have your game purchased.
Steam version runs even on Steam Deck, so it probably should run fine with Proton 8 (or GE/Experimental). High probability Steam has it preconfigured to install it for out-of-the box experience.
Epic Store version have unsolved Easy AntiCheat problem. And game won't run no matter what. At least I don't know what to do to make it work, and the support couldn't help me either.
Im running the game on Steam, after doing testing, it seems to be fine, though I still have a memory leak issue where assets dont deallocate from the RAM once they are done being used, they just stick there until I close the game altogether, and Ive been having the issue for awhile and just have no idea how to even fix it.
Luckily running things through Direct X12 in Proton GE has reduced the RAM usage by a lot overall but it's still an issue I need to fix nonetheless.
-
The only time I lobby dodge is if there is a TTV in the lobby since most of the time they accuse me of stuff in the post game chat and I dont like that.
None of this is to say that all TTVs are bad, Ive also had a lot of good experiences, but I rather just outright avoid the potential drama.
Ill never dodge someone for their prestige, I mostly just want to avoid toxicity and confrontations.

Hey bud, never in my many paragraphs have I said the devs can’t touch something I paid for, I even mentioned I just hope they don’t completely ruin the perk after the change implying that I know a change is coming. Please read thoroughly and carefully before commenting, Thanks son.
My point, regardless, still stands, BHVR can change content whenever and however they want since DBD, being a live service game, has all aspects subject to change, regardless if you agree with it or not.
Also my first point was tackling the very first statement you started with, you are not inherently entitled to something because you spent money on it, I too bought the Alien chapter for Ultimate Weapon, you might not like the idea of Ultimate Weapon being nerfed or even gutted but the entire idea of a live service game to add content and make changes accordingly, thus resulting in the potential for Ultimate Weapon being nerfed.
I read the rest of the post, Im not illiterate, I focused in on a point I disagreed with, and talked about it, it's an open forum so Im allowed to do that like any other post. If I wanted to tackle each and every problematic aspect of this perk, I could, but it would be a giant wall of text that 95% wont even bother to read, which is why I dont bother most of the time.

I haven’t played Dead by Daylight in six months and recently got back into it again. I bought Xenomorph for the perk “Ultimate Weapon” because I find survivors stealthing and just playing immersion very boring and non-interactive, searching for them for half the game is very time consuming and could debatably be considered the same as a killer stalling the game by gen regression as it’s a way to stop the game from progressing as well.
Historically I notice a pattern of everytime a perk getting nerfed it becomes unusable, I’m hoping this doesn’t happen with Ultimate Weapon because it is such a Quality-of-Life improving perk specially when playing a killer that doesn’t have information built into their kit.
Also the last gen regression perk killers have gotten was when I first started playing the game around Onryo’s release - “Call of Brine”. And with almost every new update survivors have received a gen progression/speed perk. I really appreciate this information perk “Ultimate Weapon” when I first saw it I knew I had to fit it into my perk load out even tho it doesn’t synergies with the rest of the 3 perks because survivors playing stealth and me having to look over the entire map for them has to be my least favorite part of each game.
I hope the team keeps up the good work and continue to provide killers with such nice perks that improve our gameplay quality, thank you!¡!
I payed for End Transmission and MFT got nerfed. I payed for the Halloween Chapter and STBFL got nerfed.
You point that "I payed for it, therefore it must remain unchanged" is pointless since all aspects of the game are subject to change.
-
Adrenaline Vial still got nerfed with the update compared to before the update, I know they buffed it from PTB to live servers but it's still a considerable nerf.
- Token Recharge: 7 seconds => 14 seconds
- Maximum Tokens: (Unchanged)
- Movement Speed Increase: 10% => 5%
- Look Angle Increase: 50% => 20%
- Reduced Turn Rate: (Removed)
That is still a nerf considering how busted the original version was, the recharge for his power is basically double what it was before (with the addon) and the look angle, the main appeal of the addon, also got nerfed as well.
That being said, I feel as if it still should be completely reworked entirely, it's just a weird addon that has never really had a niche or identity since it's been changed so much and had so many effects added and removed over the years.
-
There is already a mechanic where completely AFK Killers will be kicked from a match after 3-5 minutes or so. Unless that feature is currently bugged, or the Killers are not entirely AFK, the mechanic should be kicking AFK Killers and giving them a DC Penalty.

At least you are getting Billy, Ive done nothing but get Knights since he is back from the Killswitch... It's been a horrible experience.
-
You should lose collision with the Killer while having unhook Endurance or BT Endurance.
Not only can the Survivors bodyblock the Killer, but it goes both ways, the Survivors can easily be bodyblocked and tunneled out. The entire point of unhook Endurance/BT is to prevent tunneling but it can sometimes be very ineffective at it or be used offensively.

I don't know how GE gets sold as anti-tunnel. You hook one player, activate it+DMS, then proxy camp the hook for free. You can essentially put someone into struggle for free between Pain Res+GE+DMS, then tunnel them put and play a 3v1 with the rest of your GE and Pain Res tokens. It's so poorly thought out
Pardon me for asking, but also isnt this the main strategy that is used in Comp?
SH: Pain Resonance has been a staple and even after the nerfs it still sees a lot of usage since tunneling out a Survivors brings into to a 3v1 plus you still have the extra slowdown when needed.

Perks: Tinkerer, Agitation, Make your Choice and the last perk is up to you.
Similar to the last request, if multiple builds are listed, Ill only do the first one to give people an opportunity to post their builds.
Your build is: Cenobite (Impaling Wire and Greasy Black Lens) ~ Lethal Pursuer, Deathbound, Deadlock, and SH: Floods of Rage.

Chill build for any killer (I like it especially on Doc because it synergises well with his power): BBQ, Lethal Pursuer, Lightborn. 4th perk slot used to be Shadowborn but now I might switch it to Huntress' Lullaby.
It's a build designed for you to sit back, relax and just chase. I use it whenever I just want to turn off my brain and chill.
Hillbilly with Apex Muffler, Spiked Boots, Plaything, Pentimento, Trail of Torment and BBQ. Send yourself to Coldwind for good measure.
It's so satisfying when it works. With the upcoming buff it will be even better. Just run around with the chainsaw and hit them like a truck when they don't watch out.
Bodyguard Bubba: PWYF, Dark Devotion, Lethal Pursuer, Insidious. No addons required (although tantrum addons can be nice, if you're less experienced).
After years spent chasing, slashing and killing survivors Bubba remembers his old life. He used to be a good boy and now wants to redeem himself. When the match starts, Lethal Pursuer activates to help him find the client (obsession). Once he found them, he will start following them around. Bubba does not hit the client under any circumstances.
Instead he fully devotes himself to the client's protection. Survivors entering his security perimeter (completely random area around the obsession) must first be scared off by revving the chainsaw. Should they not leave the area to let the client work in peace, then violence will deemed necessary and Bubba chainsaws and hooks that survivor. He will do everything in his power to ensure the client will not be disturbed.
Oh and of course the "You're definitely going to hell" build: Myers with Tombstone, PWYF, Lethal Pursuer and Insidious.
Use Lethal Purser to find the obession and get your PWYF stacks. Stalk until you have 99% tier 3 then hook the obession (preferrably in basement or on a hill) and hide nearby just out of range of the AFC. When a survivor comes for the rescue, activate tier 3 and kill both of them. Works especially well on Midwich (because you can camp above the basement).
I want to get to other requests so I only did the first build you listed. Was a fun match, Survivors flew through gens and they werent really affected by H: Huntress Lullaby (which I substituted for Shadowborn since Shadowborn is basekit now).
Your build is: Dredge (Haddie's Calender and Malthinker's Skull) ~ BBQ, Zanshin Tactics, Darkness Revealed, Iron Maiden.

Scratched Mirror Myers.
Undying
Haunted Grounds
PWYF
Franklins’ Demise.
Of course, you should have an indoor map offering.
This build is best when the group has lots of nice flashlights and items.
Play hit and run but don’t go too far. Instead, hide behind a wall nearest to their dropped item. Scare the pee out of them when they come to retrieve it.
The point of this thread is to trade builds. My apologies but if you are unable to play the build I give you, then I will not fill out the request.
To better clarify, I wanted to try this out since it encourages me to go out of my comfort zone and try out Killers I hardly play (since I mostly play Demo), and vice versa, let people try out builds that they would never even think of. It's a fun and neat idea but it requires both sides to do their part.
-
Intentionally sent to Gideon's by the Survivors. They did nothing by predrop every pallet, I was only able to get a single hook and trap placed, and it was on the No Mither gamer since I grabbed them off a Generator using Pig's Stealth.

Dang! It's definitely a different win condition with that build!
It's my favorite Plague build because I feel like her power is clunky and unpleasant to use mid-chase. I think it also hits that gen-defense playstyle that Skull Merchant was originally designed around, without feeling incredibly unfair to Survivors. I don't mind playing a purely M1 killer, and that is more or less how I play Plague in quasi-stealth that build.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/5LJB0KIQTZ6F/image.png
I'm not sure what the deal with Thwack! was--probably my first time using the perk--but it did not activate once. I kicked a ton of gens, often with a Survivor recently hopping off of it.
I also didn't get an value out of dissolution, but I did not need to as Ada threw every pallet on Shelter Woods in the first chase.
10 hooks total, Yui ended it on second hook so Claud could find hatch. Fun match, down for another rec
THWACK! only applies on breaking pallets, it causes all Survivors in 30-meters or so to scream and have their aura be revealed, it even works on Undetectable killers, it can also proc from Dissolution activating.
THWACK! is not a bad perk but it has a few drawbacks. If Survivors play it safe and prevent downs and/or heavily predrop pallets, your value gets limited heavily. Survivors who are more prone to playing pallets and actually loop are what this perk thrives off of.

The Shape with J.Myers Memorial and Hair Bow
Monitor and Abuse, Bamboozle, Pop Goes The Weasel, Corrupt Intervention
I got Gideon's, managed to get 8 hooks.
Bamboozle was beyond useless and Survivors played it incredibly safe by predropping all the pallets instantly, but I reckon they maybe thought I had tombstone since getting Tier 3 for the first time took awhile since I never really had a good time to use it.

Freddy with Corrupt Intervention, Pain Res, STBFL and Brutal Strength. Add-ons are up to you, but it must contain Dream Pallets.
Good luck!
I got Nostromo Wreckage and there was literally no room for Dream Pallets at the start. Kate also DCed bc I grabbed her off a Generator while she was lagging really badly.
Your build is now: Trapper (Setting Tools and Trapper Gloves) ~ Machine Learning, Trail of Torment, Monitor and Abuse, H: NOED.
Also... I wish I was joking but that is actually my main Trapper build, youd be surprised how effective it can be sometimes.

Im in a similar boat since Im missing Chucky and his corresponding perks.

I think Spine Chill can be brought back as a utility perk like Resilience is.
Remove it's effect applying on Killers that are undetectable (or if you are oblivious) and reduce the effective range. Action Speeds can be increased and Vault Speed can return but with a diminished effect.
Premonition can be reworked to be a better anti-stealth perk, it's always been a bad perk, I think it needs some time in the spotlight.

Oblivious isnt too bad tbh. And I already dont use Exhaustion perks often anyways.
Back when H: Plaything was bugged, Id go entire matches without being able to cleanse the totem, Im kind of use to it.

I feel there's a time and place. Legion can still just M1 for a hook if everyone is injured, but it should be saved until all other safe pallets/loops are exhausted. Otherwise you can 100% get away with not healing and just loop the funny M1 killer.
I mostly just do it to protect teammates who are on Death Hook, depending on the match state, if they die, we lose the match. Maybe it's just my incredibly altruistic brain (I will go down to protect teammates who are going to die).

@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:
Generators have no feelings but survivors does. So generators will not cry after you finish to repair them.
I actually kind of agree with this.
The inherent issue is that people feel as if they are being forced out to the match too early compared to other players, especially when playing with friends since you are forced to spectate and sit in the "time out corner" as a result.
I personally think the best solution is to provide something for dead players to do to make them feel as part of the team even after dying, like being able to roam the map and handle side objectives exclusive to them (obviously they wouldnt be able to see the Killers or Survivors to prevent SWFs from calling out information).
-
Just a small first look at what to expect:
https://twitter.com/DeadbyDaylight/status/1750911601589252246Basically Survivors will be shrouded in Nightfall permanently (either that or there will be a new fog/mist effect used for this, but generally the same concept regardless, limited visibility).
Im honestly excited for this since I think the limited visibility will open up Killers to more stealth oriented playstyles instead of relying on regression, which means we could see a bit more build diversity. Either way, even if it is a simple gamemode, I like that it just mixes things up.

The spirit stands-still for 1.5 second to begin the power. as for audio clarity, the game expect you to have proper hearing when playing as the spirit. the game cannot account for disabilities. your free to play the game on your accord with said disabilities however those disabilities may impair your performance in the game.
The lack of ambition really shows with this.
Why not want BHVR to strive to do better? Especially when making the game more accessible helps players get into the game, draws in more money for the Developers, and thus funds better quality content.
The developers released the visual Terror Radius to help people with hearing impairments, and Im asking for this system to be expanded and improved, as well as making a Killer more accessible for both sides, only to be met with "oh yea, they have disabilities, they should know they are at a disadvantage, they shouldnt ask for improvements," like what?
Also "The Spirit stands still for 1.5 seconds to begin their power" isnt even an appropriate way of judging? If I cant hear them using their power, they can just sit still without using their power. They can use addons that increase their power charge speed. There are MANY, and I mean MANY situations in which that does not clarify as meaningful counterplay.

What's wrong with a killer being different? Part of playing as and against spirit is the mindgame of "do nothing"
That's awful design. If every single Killer has visual and auditory clarity with their power, why should Spirit be the exception?
It literally does not matter if they are different or not, the only other Killer that cannot see Survivors while using their power is Knight and Spirit and Knight are fundamentally different enough in terms of identity to begin with.
-
Nea...
I know a lot of people main Nea bc (insert YouTuber) got them into playing DBD, but I like Nea since I love punk stuff, and I feel like I can identify with them more since Im trans.
That being said, I also like other characters like Jeff since I enjoy making art but I dont play them as much as Nea since I dont really identify with their body type.
-
Not trying to make an "Us VS Them" with this (I play both sides, Im just using this to make a point here), but whenever I run non-meta things as Killer, the gens absolutely fly and it feels like there is nothing I can do, and it feels awful if I bring a BPS or Terrormisu.
This exists for both sides, if you dont bring meta, you shouldnt expect to win, that's just how it is to put it bluntly.
I partly think SBMM has pushed the game into this state. Ranks were really awful and people recognize that, but since DBD boasts about having SBMM and MMR, I think it just pushes people on both sides to play "optimal" instead of "for fun", but even then people still did it way back in the day, since people enjoy winning.
Gens fly, Killers tunnel, grass grows, and the sun shines, it's the same as it's ever been.

@GannTM said:
Oh Lord help me. And how exactly do you plan on addressing her? You never mentioned any suggestions, just the issues you have.
My main thing is provide better visual and auditory clarity.
If you look at a Killer like Knight (which I am aware is a weaker Killer), they have an animation for sticking their sword into the ground and an audio cue (the audio for the sword being planted + the wisp audio).
Killers like Wraith have their Bell audio, the crackling when uncloaking, and visual clarity as to when they uncloak and cloak (hitting the bell and becoming more visible).
Maybe an animation can play to indicate when the Spirit starts to phase, and having better auditory indicators for phasing. As for the Killer POV, visual aids can be used to help Spirit a bit more, Scratchmarks can become a lot more visible or providing Killer's Instinct post-phase to help with tracking after she is done with her power.
It isnt much but it's something, and it still keeps her core concept without reworking her entire power.

I mean yea, I guess that would also explain Crows swarming Survivors who sit still for too long.
The Entity is just poking them with a stick and saying "come on, do something".

Bc NOED feels cheap to many players. They did their objective and got punished for it.
It's the same reason why people complained about MFT, it feels awful to get punished while your opponent gets rewarded just for trying to play the game.
-
I will say this time and time again.
We SHOULDNT punish players for playing with their friends. IT SHOULD be encouraged since it promotes more social activity with the game THUS it spreads the word about the game more.
SoloQ and SWF being at different strength levels is a result of many different problems at once; Instead of nerfing SWF, we should be BUFFING SoloQ.
IF SWF gets too out of hand, we THEN can BUFF/REWORK Killers.

I do it if I have my Objective Category already maxed out.
I moved from Console to PC so Im back on that Bloodpoint grind since Im trying to unlock all Survivor perks. As a result I have no need to work on Generators if I already maxed it out.
