he looks around demogorgon tier. C-tier. he has teleport but the mobility is average. He has chase power but the chase power is unrewarding.
As a Demo main, I really disagree.
The two Killers have the same power on paper but work vastly different in practice and ultimately have vastly different play styles and strengths/weaknesses.
To put it bluntly, the two are not really comparable due to them fundamentally working differently when you consider nuance.
Also both Killers are better than people give them credit for. Demo is low B-tier to high C-tier. Unknown is low B-tier to high B-tier.

"Additionally, to make matters even worse, I cant even AFK the match either, since the anti-AFK system will just kick me and give me a DC penalty for a match that is effectively pointless to play."
I've never seen that happen with an afk Killer, or does it just not show for Survivors that the Killer gets an afk DC penalty?
It just displays like a normal DC to all players, but the anti-AFK mechanic only triggers if you sit completely still as Killer. Moving counts as activity so the system hardly does anything to counter AFK Iridescent Shard farming.

You could just waite out the timer or insted of being blood thirsty u should know where the BU guy is and hit him then down the other guy can't ftp when injured and it takes forever to heal now a day and and their tons of per like 90% of killer perk can't be counter by the survovurs so what the difference and even if their was a counter people still wouldent run it they just complain about it untill it nerfed look at adrenaline it getting rewoked because no killer would dare through on termi us to make people broken when the last gen pops
"Just hit the other Survivor," did you not read my reply from earlier?
If I down the Survivor I am chasing, the other Survivor will instantly use For The People and Buckle Up to ensure that both Survivors get away with no consequences. If I hit the Survivor with FTPBU, the Survivor I was chasing makes a massive amount of distance. This perk combo puts the Killer into a lose/lose situation.
Also what do you mean by "just wait out the timer"?
What timer? The bleedout timer? When they can just pick up? Or are you talking about the Endurance? Which waiting it out would be pointless since they have 10 whole seconds and 40 whole meters that they can use to reach a pallet or loop?
Also Idk how you can make the argument that "90% of Killers perks cant be countered" when:
- 1. Most perks can be countered, it's not the game's fault that you dont understand the counterplay for most perks
- 2. Perks that dont have meaningful counterplay (but have incredibly strong effects) should be changed regardless of the role to begin with.
And finally... what does Adrenaline have to do with anything Ive said?
I think you are trying to argue against a preconceived notion of what you think I am or opinions you think I have rather than actually acknowledging what Ive been saying. Im not a Killer main. Im not a Survivor main. I play both sides rather evenly and do my own thing bc apparently that is a hard concept for people to understand.
You can respond if you want. Im not dragging this on further beyond this and I will not respond. We have diverged too far from the subject of the original post.

I did a 360-flick using Shred on the Steve, that had 4 different P100 characters that they showed off in the lobby. The Steve instantly DCed and everyone DCed instantly after.
I dont want to be forced into a match where Im punished bc other players want to throw a tantrum.

"This combo is just to instantly undo the Killer’s work in their face and to put them into lose/lose situation" And most killers don't do that already by trying to tunneling the weak link out because they can't get downs fast enough i not saying it balanced but it is the only current counter to tunneling in dbd so until their a counter for tunneling that any better than that i don't see why it should go it no that bad and everyone knows OTR and DC are complete trash in the current state even dead hard is trash i mean if dead hard was back to the way it was or even token based for each gen that pooped so u could get more use out of it i think you would see a back off of FTP+BU plus they have to sacrifice 2 perk slots as well as the time they are not on a gen trying to FTP it just helps the killer and hinder the survivors really on top it is base kit for killer they don't have to sacrifice any perk slots to tunnel some out and make the match almost guaranteed to be in their favor and i can tell you over 70% of killers tunnel the weak like almost every game then they have to hide and have no other choice but to do so i mean that why their so many hiding survivors now a day it just killer try's to tunnel some out in 7 minutes then the games over with the game need to be better balance around chase and not about tunneling the first person you see (BTW all of this is not point toward anyone in particular i just saying the way the state of dbd is right now because it quite bad to be honest) their hasn't been a survivor buff in over a years it just the devs trying to kick killers out of boring playstyles that are unbearable to go against like the anti-face camp and ant 3 gen system they are not killer nerfs nor are they survivor buff they are system put in place to stop those particular playstyles from happening
First, you say camping and slugging. Now, you say tunneling. You are moving the goalpost.
Also like, I dont tunnel, I dont camp, and I only slug to avoid flashlight saves. Ive had many people use For The People and Buckle Up on my downs with basically no counterplay for me. Your argument that "it's fine since it counters a playstyle" does not account for the fact that this perk combo extends beyond that.
If For The People and Buckle Up made tunneling impossible but affected no other aspects of the game, I wouldnt complain, hell, Id be happy even, but the fact that it extends beyond that is what upsets me, it's just anti-fun.
-

BU AND FTP counter killer base kit of slugging that most of the community does to gain an advantage and a turn the match 80 % in the killer favour so unless people stop slugging I don't see it ever going away too many killers are boosted mmr with slugging and camping and then cry on the fourms because their matches. Are hard because God forbid they not get a 4k every match
“Countering slugging” is when the Killer downs a Survivor and the other Survivor uses FTPBU while the Killer is in the hit recovery animation...
All jokes aside, For The People and Buckle Up isn’t used for slugging since if the Killer is slugging you would not need For The People. This combo is just to instantly undo the Killer’s work in their face and to put them into lose/lose situation (i.e. if you hit the healthy Survivor, the person you were chasing gets distance; if you down the Survivor, your work gets undo and both Survivors get 10 seconds of Endurance).
I don’t see why people defend For The People + Buckle Up as if it isn’t a busted perk combo. (Likewise, Idk why people defend busted perk combos on Killer either.)

yes it was. eruption was 22% pick-rate perk. it was #1 perk followed by pain res. I don't use ultimate weapon on most my builds. the biggest issue is that it alert survivor that they've been spotted which encourages survivor to pre-run and play defensive. It is best used on mobile killers that can close-gap quickly.
Ultimate weapons falls under an anti-meta perk. The main strength is being able bypass distortion and turn off Window of opportunity. It can help support play-styles such as scouting near hook, tunneling survivors off death hook and helping killer close out end games but other information perk are able to do same thing.
I never said didnt Eruption have the #1 usage rate. I said “not every Killer was running it.” A 22% pick-rate is not every Killer. My point being that even if something is meta or the best out there, usage rate is not the best way to determine it since there will always be people who run other things or opt into other options depending on their playstyle.
Also I wouldn’t count Ultimate Weapon as anti-meta.
Distortion is not “meta,” it isn’t the most efficient tactic possible, blocking Aura Reading can be nice but there are better perks and more effective ways of playing the game; likewise Windows of Opportunity is not “meta,” since most people who use it are new players or SoloQ players requiring the information.
Meta’s are defined by WHY people run the perk, not HOW MANY run the perk, the distinction between the two is abundantly obvious since things can be popular but not necessarily be efficient.
-
Usage Rate =/= Strength
Eruption was a busted perk but it was not used every single match by Killers.
Also you have to consider Killer powers. Killers like Nurse, Wesker, Blight, and Huntress will feel more inclined to bring Aura Reading since it provides more accurate information relevant to their power; all of which are highly used Killers. Ultimate Weapon can still work for them but to a lesser effect. (I know Nightlight says otherwise but Nightlight is not reliable since it is player submitted information which can easily be spoofed or lied about.)
Ultimate Weapon has a stronger effect on other Killers who just need the tracking but not insanely accurate information. Ultimate Weapon also synergies with certain builds/powers seeing how Killers that rely on interactions being interrupted (Sadako, Pig, etc.) can reliable use it.

I'll admit, I haven't read the other posts. Sorry about that.
That's terrible. I really don't understand why anyone would care about that. But I guess, using logic to explain this isn't the right approach in the first place. That's definitely despicable behavior and I hope these people get banned.
It's just a pattern of colors after all. To some it means something but to me it's nothing more, so I really don't get the fuss about it. If it makes people feel happy to have a specific pattern of colors in the game, then good for them. But why would anyone else care?
It's a bit more than colors. It's a symbol of existence. It's a symbol of being able to stand after being dragged down repeatedly.
It holds a lot of meaning to those who wave it, which is why certain people dont like it.

Charms are so small on survivors, why anyone would even focus on them to choose who to target really speaks volumes. Or in my case 10011100110.
Also noteworthy: I do have the fact that I am trans on my Steam profile, but it's like a small section in a wall of text stuck in the middle of my bio... they can technically use that if they use Steam.

Is that really a thing people do? And how is it correlated to the new killer? If you're gonna act like an ######### then you can do it with any killer but i haven't heard of it before (not that I was actively looking for it).
I don't deny that this happens but I simply have a hard time wrapping my head around it. Who cares, if someone uses a specific charm? I find it more likely that this is just happenstance. Someone is targeted and they happen to have that specific charm.
This reminds me of Bubba's faces. Apparently people used them to be racist too but I have never seen anyone do that. And honestly I don't understand why anyone would. This is just a game after all. The person on the other end of the screen could be anyone and you wouldn't know a damn thing about them. Because it doesn't matter.
I dont mean to sound rude, but you really did not read the thread did you?

It’s blatantly obvious that they are targeting me for being trans and using the Trans Pride charm.
Also again, some have left transphobic comments on my profile or harassed me in the post-game, yet again, another blatant thing showing that I was being targeted.

Blindness addons typically apply Blindness for 60-90 seconds which is more applicable for preventing Aura Reading in chase.

badham is such a terrible map for killer where basement camping is one of good and reliable strategies to win. Temple of Purgation has a back hook at back of the temple that camping killer can exploit. At least I always attempt to hook in basement/back hook. it is just free wins as killer where I do not need to work hard to get W.
Have you considered that both things can be problematic?
Badham RNG is miserable to go against, I know, I’ve been there before many times, but I don’t think that is a valid excuse for more flawed map design. The argument that “this problematic issues balances out this other problematic issue” does not really work since if one issue gets fixed you are still left with the other.
Ultimately, we should be striving for everything to get fixed, ideally together, though based on BHVR’s development process it might not always been possible for them to be fixed at the same time unfortunately.

Distortion isn't meta. Complaining about Distortion is though.
My issue isnt even from the Killer end of things.
If I play Killer and want to run Aura Reading, I just use Gearhead since Gearhead eats through Distortion tokens. Again, the perk isnt even that strong since it is 100% counterable as Killer.
My issue stems from how it affects my matches as Survivor, they are often not chased, never contribute in altruistic actions, and hide a huge portion of the match.
@GolbezGarlandGabrant said:
Survivors are going to play selfishly no matter what. It's not a Distortion problem. I've used both Empathic and Better Together and sometimes I feel like people use the information to sandbag.
Yes players will play like that, it's bound to happen.
But you also have to consider the fact that these perks help enable this playstyle and make it worse to deal with as Survivor. Distortion specifically has the same issue that the other "sandbag" perks suffer from, they work from your being thrown under the bus and/or have a passive effect that hardly has to be earned.
To put it bluntly, I dont want Distortion's gimmick of preventing Aura Reading to be nerfed, perks like Off The Record and B: Shadow Step do the same thing and that aspect I have no problem with. I just want Distortion to reward a more active role in the team instead of rewarding a passive role.

I can agree with this. But comparatively, the issues posed here to not scratch the importance of dealing with Tunneling currently, at least imo.
I'd like these concerns to be addressed as well, but there is a priority list, and this isn't at the top.
Still, I'd be curious how big an issue you feel this is, so I know where you are with this.
I don’t think it’s a massive issue, but I still feel as if it is worth talking about since it is an issue with the game nonetheless.
Obviously other things SHOULD take priority, but core mechanic changes with the game are harder for BHVR to make since it’s really easy to polarize the community and/or make things too favored in a particular side (e.g. the effects from adding 10 charges to Generators).
TLDR; although I would prefer other aspect to be changed first, Distortion (and other perks like it) would be easier and less polarizing for the community to change.
-
@Spare_Them_Mori_Me said:
Gut tunneling first. Distortion is the best tool against it for Solo'Q. Sorry about your experiences, but it isn't mine so I can't get on board. Not to mention the 'lone wolf' playstyle is just as viable as tunneling itself. Survivors are just plagued with issues, aren't they? Wish they'd get some BHVR killer treatment!
Off The Record blocks Aura Reading… I don’t know how people constantly forget that?
Also I think “X is an issue,” “nerf Y first” gets us nowhere, especially when core issues with the game take years for BHVR to address, just look at how long it took the anti-camp mechanic to actually be added (also not bashing BHVR either, game development takes time, it’s not as cut and dry as people make it out to be).
Multiple things can be an issue. Multiple things can be addressed (rather it be together or separate).

With 60% kill rate, the win rate is always higher than lose rate. You can try to math every possible out come for 12 kills out of 20 survivors in 5 matches.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3661394#Comment_3661394
That is correct, a decent killer should have at least 2K against a decent team. So most killers who say "try to 4K against a decent team" definitely not better than decent team to earn 4K.
I dont want this to come off the wrong way, but most really good players (1v1 format players and comp players) play in Custom Matches most of their matches, they rarely touch pubs... so it's not like the best players die that often in their matches.
St1v1 is a prime example, absolute goated player, lasts minutes in chase against some of the best players in the game, but rarely plays Pubs.
But also... bc actual comp players dont really play Pubs often, I dont think Pubs should be balanced around Comp Teams, the game could maybe use more support for Comp outside of Pubs (e.g. Custom Match settings and Ranked playlist).

FOMO ("Fear of Missing Out") is literally predatory.
The entire origin on the word is based on manipulating people who have varies forms of anxiety, self-esteem issues, or those suffering from negative deprivation; people within those groups are hurt and manipulated the most by this tactic, and considering the wide scope of the internet, it isnt hard to companies to find and advertise to these people, which is frustrating since it's become so common place in the world as a whole.
It might be fine to you, but the tactic is still scummy, it's design is focused on targeting and manipulating vulnerable people for profit, which I (and many others) cannot stand for.

That being said, I do think there are balance aspects that can and should be talked about, and I wanted to tackle what tunneling is and why it is prevalent since I see so many posts talking about tunneling being an issue but never actually talking about why tunneling exists in the first place.
-
Idk what results you expect from this but you are only going to attract two crowds: those for tunneling, those against tunneling.
I would include people who feel indifferent, such as myself, but 95% of the time we get grouped into either group by other people regardless of our opinion.
Though if you are curious, I did make a post about it that tries to explain both sides from a position that tries to remove a lot of bias, obviously not completely removing all bias since it would be impossible but attempting to remove a lot of it.
-
By this logic, Killers have to bring slowdown to prevent "genrushing", so Survivors have to bring perks to prevent tunneling.
Not trying to defend tunneling but your logic is pretty flawed, if you want to make an argument against tunneling there are far better things to bring up other than that.
-
@Gabe_Soma said:
This reasoning is yes partly correct, but not applicable to this game and especially to this community.
Many players would tunnel regardless, even at the cost of losing the game, just for the sheer fun of it.
And the devs are even partially trying to counter this, but the results are disappointing.
Over time the killers have become stronger and stronger, the maps less to their detriment, perks like PR, NWO, GE that require you to hook multiple survivors have been added, but also in general perks like Friends till the end that invite the killer to switch targets have not helped.
A killer would only stop tunnelling, and I'm not sure about this, if he had the certainty of being able to hook 12 times the survivors without the slightest effort, which is probably the direction in which it is going.
Ultimately outliers WILL exist, I feel as if it would be redundant to put it since the "variety of paths" part leaves a lot of room for interpretation and nuance.
I put the "EASIEST WAY TO DECREASE TUNNELING" since it is not the most effective way to actually remove it. The only way to outright prevent tunneling is to remove it as a path, but I dont think that is the direction the developers are aiming for.
-
I mostly use the Bugbear (or Moth Gun); I love it's design and the iron sights are amazing.
Though I like this thread since it gives me an idea of what I should and shouldnt purchase since I want something that not only looks good but functions well, and while the art team is really good, sometimes the cosmetics hinder gameplay (which bumbs me out a bit since they work really hard on stuff). :(

I’ve actually wanted that to happen when the map was released. I’ve also wanted them to have luxurious leaves made of ink that drip upwards into the sky.
Id be down for that.
It buffs Trapper. Gives Survivors some hiding places. Doesnt block Killer powers. And allows for fun plays on both sides.

Bushes are vital to the game. Without them the game would die. I suggest we water and fertilize the bushes on Eerie of Crows so they can perform better.
Then remove collision from them and make them like the ones on Dead Dawg.
The dead bushes on Eyrie bring me nothing but pain since they have wider collision than they visually have and block a lot of powers. As Survivor, they dont have much room the hide since you can literally see through the them.

It only added 4 seconds to the heal timer though it makes no sense to nerf it this way.
Like even nerfing it half adding 2 seconds would still be bad.
This perk was just nice for time, not keeping everyone injured. Now it has neither.
Plus Trapper/Freddy/Myers didn't get buffed so just because they buffed killers doesn't mean this change is good for everyone.
Then use other slowdown and perks. If it's "only 4 seconds of slowdown", run something else that has more slowdown potential. If healing is an issue, there are other anti-healing perks to use.
Also if Survivors wait out the Mangled, they ultimately are leaving themselves vulnerable. If they all huddle together with Vigil, they are wasting time by not doing Generators (and if they are doing Generators, it's note very efficient compared to splitting Gens).
I personally dont mind it, having more options and strategies to playing as Survivors makes the game more dynamic, the opens the room to actually thinking instead of playing an M1 simulator. Likewise, as Killer, it makes me weight the costs and benefits to perks more,
To put it bluntly, I like this change.

Shred cooldown after Breaking a Pallet is 2 seconds - not 3 seconds. With your logic they should buff for example Bubba's / Billy's Breaking speed etc etc.
Breaking a Pallet with Shred takes 2 seconds, but you have to consider the time it takes to charge the power to begin with.
Ultimately I feel that the normal Pallet Break speed and Demogorgon's power should be kept more in line for the sake of consistency (and rewarding Demo for using their power for various actions instead of just doing them normally).
-
I think they are increasing the pallet break speed of Shred, or at least I would hope so.
There we’re a lot of typos in the post so I wouldn’t be surprised if they left it out, since everyone is bound to make simple mistakes like that (even I do it sometimes).

WAS THAT THE TEASER OF 87’?
I remember when one of the teasers had “1987” on it and FNAF fans were freaking out bc they thought it was FNAF. I don’t care if FNAF gets in the game but I found it really funny how much people were hyping it up only to be disappointed.

The rift is really good.
Nea got a good outfit, which is rare for the most part, Nea’s punk aesthetics are meant to look generally bad (on purpose) since it’s meant to go against establishment and societal standards (which is why I like them), but having an outfit that is generally designed to look good is a change of pace that I appreciate.
Ive been too busy with college to make a massive post about it and stuff but I planned on doing it.

This is a fair statement. Although I don't know why Nurse or Blight are considered hard to balance. BHVR just doesn't want to touch their basekit, which in turn means their nerfs don't really impact them that hard.
I think Nurse is considered hard to balance since messing with blink distance and movement speed, etc can easily result in Nurse not gaining enough distance to actually keep up with Survivors.
As for Blight... I kind of just slipped it in since it seems like BHVR is really struggling to balance his Iridescent addons. I see what they are going for with it but they are just really struggling with it. Basekit, he is fine.

eyyy fellow warframe player who do you main?
im playing volt but trying to get citrine
Zephyr Prime...
I have farmed out 3 sets so I have different Archon Shard configurations.
I also do play a lot of Volt Prime and Saryn Prime but I lean more towards the birb lady since I think she is criminally underrated and often ignored by most of the community despite being one of the best damage platforms (crit + room for damage buffs like Roar... also Jet Steam being an augment is nice for certain weapons) and tanks in the game.
I also made an off-topic post about my Warframe fashion if you care to look for it, but that's up to you.

While I do think the server can handle hits better, I do not agree with the idea that Killers constantly lag out their game for an advantage.
Yes some do, but a lot of players just have really bad internet, rather it be bc of the area they live in or financial reasons, so I think it's unfair to assume that all players are trying to gain an advantage.
