  • Just play the game. If you win, then awesome, if you lose then just think of how you could've played better and move onto the next game.

There's no reason to take any sort of in-game toxicity personally. If anything, that just worsens it.

They were hands off from the start. You cannot expect them to support something they never wanted in the first place.

The community found a way to replace the icons and it will be the community that finds a way to do it again.

Of course, but as the community grew to such a large size, it's just a shame they didn't recognize it when it would've taken such little effort.

Replacing icons is no longer as simple and risk-free as it once was. The files used for the in-game HUD are now stored internally and not in an easily accessible folder like before that EAC does not check.

Anyway, don't get me wrong - I'm not super annoyed or anything, just questioning how this decision was made.

  • As well as for the reasons everyone has listed, it would also be a problem for stream sniping. It would be pretty annoying as a streamer if people could snipe you and then ban the two best perks that they knew you were running and know which ones they would need to ban. I just don't think it would work unfortunately.

  • @Mr_K said:

They never been for or against. They only warned what could happen if EAC decides to ban because of it.

I'm aware of that, but it's the lack of effort they've put into recognizing this as a problem that's frustrating. I know it's far from top-priority, but they've consistently turned a blind eye towards this part of the community and failed to recognize its value.

  • @Boss said:

    I don't think they care.

And if they do, it's gonna be low on the bucket list.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't to be honest. I don't think people even expect them to do anything anytime soon (I certainly don't), but at the very least I think the community would appreciate a statement.

  • I like the idea, but I think doing it weekly might be a little too much. I'd rather they thought it through properly and had time to test it and then aim to make at least three changes to existing perks every mid-chapter and chapter release.

  • Are you sure they weren't banned? As horrible as that is (and I'm sorry you had to go through that) the ban could unfortunately be as little as 24 hours.

If you reported them, and what you're saying is true, then that should 100% result in a ban of some kind soon.

Not against the rules, if they can bully me then I think it is only fair I can bully back. In my 5k hours of this game no one has ever said bleed out was bannable

Although slugging isn't bannable, I'd still be careful. A 4 man bleed out when you can easily hook people could be considered holding the game hostage.

  • Not gonna lie, I don't really get this. If they weren't doing gens, then why not play normally? You get more points and it's more satisfying as a win. Don't give them the attention lol.

  • If you want to run it, then run it, but I'd highly advise not using it. Completely aside from survivors complaining about it, it doesn't help you skill-wise as a killer. It teaches you poor game practices and running it will make it more difficult to get better at the killer you're playing.

At the end of the day, it's your choice but I wouldn't recommend it if you want to become a better killer.

  • Although I think NOED is a poorly designed perk, I'm not the sort of person who whines about it all the time. Like sure, it can be pretty annoying (especially when a killer gets gifted kills even after playing badly), but it's not particularly strong on the whole.

So overall, it probably needs a rework, but it's not something I'm super bothered about.

  • Like AhoyWolf mentioned, the emblem/rank system is completely broken at the moment so don't worry too much about your rank, it doesn't mean much at the moment. A lot of people have gone down in rank even as much as 10 ranks.

  • The current 'hitbox' issue is actually caused by de-sync (not hitboxes) between players, so from the point of view of killers, everything will look completely normal whereas for survivors, hits will look very off.

In other words, in the killer's eyes, a survivor might be right in front of them, but from the survivor's perspective, they might actually be considerably further ahead.

  • If your matchmaking ban is bugged, you should send a support ticket under the 'Disconnection Penalty Appeal' category:

© 2015-2020 and BEHAVIOUR, DEAD BY DAYLIGHT and other related trademarks and logos belong to Behaviour Interactive Inc. All rights reserved.

(I assume that's what you mean by "When the time ist at 0 it restart instant at 72hrs and again and again and again".)

  • Slightly more survivor main than killer main but nowadays not by a huge amount, roughly 50/50.

  • A lot of people saying it's just knowledge, and although it's true knowledge is absolutely vital, without skill your knowledge would be useless. Nothing beats actual experience. Playing DBD well is definitely dependent on skill.

  • @MadLordJack said:

If DbD didn't take skill, then there would be little difference between a 100 hour player and a 1000 hour player.

    Exactly my thoughts.

How can I get the blue shirt for Quinten Smith?

Basically same as before - you need to buy the chapter from the PS Store (Nightmare On Elm Street DLC).

I would personally recommend buying chapters from your platform's store rather than using auric cells in-game. This way you get both the characters and any DLC-exclusive cosmetics.

  • The cross-progression feature between consoles and PC is work-in-progress.

  • Honestly I'd just move on. They probably knew each other or something hence them saying "you wouldn't understand". I mean technically it could be against the rules, but I wouldn't bother with it. They were probably just messing around. Best just to go next game and move on.

  • Yeah, this is a weird one. For some reason DBD has always taken ages to update even if you have a perfectly decent internet connection and drive speed.

Not sure why - I've only ever had this issue with DBD, but it's strange.

  • Verifying your game files shouldn't take that long unless you have a really slow internet connection or computer.

  • Look guys, let's focus on the positives here. BHVR are acknowledging the issues, and that's a big step forward. Let's let them do what they need to do and see what happens from there.

"The community as a whole" is not a fair assessment - the community is not a monolith and many people are neutral or prefer the new HUD. Users tend to hate UI changes in every piece of software regardless of how good or bad they are, so making changes based on the first impressions of a small percentage of the user base on one platform does not make any sense. They have no incentive to ignore feedback, though, and I'm sure they're not ignoring it.

What "major" bugs are we talking about here? They did fix a number of bugs from the PTB and in 4.5.0 in general, but I haven't heard of anything large that's broken. Regardless this game has had more than its fair share of bugs since launch and we're all still here, so it's not like this patch is suddenly an example of the devs losing the plot.

I don't have the same impression of the devs putting up a brick wall with the community. To pick a goofy example, if some members of the community say "I want shirtless daddy Myers" and the devs never address it, that doesn't mean they're not listening. It just means the community is not the only factor here. They need to focus on what is going to keep the game alive long term, which bug fixes and enhancements offer the most bang for buck, what is legally possible, etc., and I don't blame them for not feeling the need to break down the intricacies of every one of these decisions with us. On the contrary, I feel it's unreasonable for us to expect that level of transparency.

I also honestly empathize with them not interacting with spiteful, incendiary posts and I feel they have done a decent job with their changes and communicating the motivation behind them. I'm close to deleting my forum account because I'm tired of the constant whining and I don't even work there.

"The community as a whole" is definitely a fair assessment. Of course I'm not denying there will be some people who don't mind, but the vast majority are against this change. You only have to look at the polls for this. People aren't just saying it's bad because they don't like getting used to change - people are annoyed about it because it's an obectively poor design. The previous one was simple, elegant and concise from a graphic-design standpoint. Not scattered all over the screen, no over-complicated graphics - just a simple, clear UI that allowed you to access a lot of information at once very efficiently. There was absolutely no reason to change it.

In terms of major bugs that are still here from the PTB, I'm talking stuff like being able to walk through solid walls on the reworked maps (no collision), jerky transitions during movement and the irritating hook audio bug. I know DBD has always been buggy, but it's astonishing that such major problems don't get fixed, even after players mention them on the forums again and again. Even regardless of the PTB, there are bugs that have been in the game for months - even years now potentially and still haven't been fixed. Take the infamous Nurse bug for example.

I do a fair bit of programming myself (not game programming) and although I do realize how much of a pain debugging can be, it's clear that's it's not being done as well as it could be.

Finally, in terms of the brick wall thing, I don't really think your example is particularly fair. "Shirtless Myers" is just a meme, I don't think anyone is genuinely expecting the Devs to listen to their opinions on adding stuff like that. I'm more referring to the lack of acknowledgment BHVR give towards common concerns the community has. That's all the community really wants - to be listened to. So many players (especially those who have been playing the game for several years now) have been alienated.

  • The Undying nerf was definitely justified in my opinion, but I do agree that totem spawns can be pretty messed up lol. The other day I spawned next to one even closer than in the picture here. I could cleanse it without even having to move from my spawnpoint. Pretty crazy.

Thanks for sharing an actual video footage! For me the music doesn't cut, it just changes smoothly to a different one. Definately NOT how they intented it to be, I think. LOL

Yeah, it's weird because sometimes the music cuts completely (like in the video) and other times it switches back and forth like you described for me. Strange bug.

Why do you say the feedback is being ignored? UI changes don't happen overnight, and neither does getting used to UI changes.

I can understand that changes take time, but it's BHVR's failure to even recognize that poor changes have been made that's frustrating the community. Ever since the UI changes were first publicized, the community has been very vocal as a whole about their negative opinions on it. PTB came along, we tested the changes, and pretty much everyone hated them after testing them. People put time into completing the surveys and posting constructive feedback on the forums for the Devs to take in and work on.

And here we are at the final release with: no response to our feedback from the Devs and a patch that's full of major bugs from the PTB that have still not been fixed.

Nobody expects them to be super-human, we all know they're amazing people irl, but it's the brick wall they're building between themselves and the rest of the community that's incredibly annoying - especially for players who have been here for a long time and have put thousands of hours into the game and its community.

  • Although it's nice to see Clown get some attention, I don't think his "buff" will really make a significant difference.

His increased reload speed is a great change, so credit to the Devs for that, but I can't really see the logic behind the new yellow bottles. At loops, there's no reason to use them over the normal bottles and although they can give you distance when catching up to a survivor, that extra time you've just saved by using them is often completely cancelled out by the time you have to spend reloading as a result of using them.

I was expecting a bit more of a proper rework when the news first surfaced of his buff, but oh well. It's not great, but it's better than nothing right?

  • I agree that nobody should be personally attacking the Devs etc - that's completely unacceptable, but if people don't express their feedback, it'll never be heard.

People are frustrated because the Devs implement poorly executed changes and then when the community gives them feedback through surveys and the forums it's completely ignored. People are complaining because they care about the game - they're not just doing it for the sake of complaining.

  • Wow, I've heard some bad stories about losing progress, but this is one of the worst I've ever seen. 18 days? That's crazy.

Good luck getting your stuff back, that must be incredibly annoying.

  • I'm pretty certain this is sarcastic, but if in the small chance it isn't, then Clown definitely is NOT top tier xD

  • Agreed. I'm just taking a break from the game until the next update. If the next update fixes these issues, I'll happily return. If not, I will definitely be playing it a lot less than before. The game isn't fun in its current state, so I have no reason to spend my time and money on it.

This is easily one of the worst patches for any game I've personally experienced in recent years.

  • 2021-02-09_20h45_14.png

Depipped from rank 1 and yet black pipped according to my Rank Progress and yet pipped according to the UI.

  • I had the same problem on the 4.5.0 PTB, and have had some questionable hits since installing the update, but not enough to make a full judgement yet on whether they're worse than before. I wouldn't be surprised if they are though considering the PTB.

  • I dislike the new animations - they don't look natural or smooth at all. Much preferred the old ones. The main thing for me though are the transitions. They're so awkward and buggy.

  • Hit validation never worked properly. We've all been experiencing stupid hits (despite having a good ping). Hopefully it'll be fine-tuned over time, because currently it's not doing its job that well lmao.

  • I've been experiencing exactly the same problem. It's really irritating.

I have some footage of it here if it's useful: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XAZ9QUZbOSW-VjplHCCh4Q3BMPLsCTeQ/view?usp=sharing

(Apologies for the non-native res, I use stretched for better FPS).

  • The movement is awful but at least the reworked maps look cool.

  • If they don't revert this change by the next update, then I'll probably lose what little hope I have for the Devs listening to feedback.

I get that removing new changes they've implemented in the PTB in time for the main update is difficult and time-consuming, so I'm willing to wait for one more update to let them do what they have to do.

I seriously hope they listen though, but you know, it's BHVR.

  • The new HUD is one of the worst decisions they've made in my opinion. Objectively a very poor design.

  • Probably best you ask this under the Optimization sub-forum with some details.

I don't play on console, but I've heard so many PS4 players complaining about lag, which must suck. I think the game is just overall poorly optimized.

  • It's just a poorly designed perk that has no proper use outside of using it for the memes. Hopefully it'll get a rework soon.

  • @mochuisleJACK13 said:

Ok. Thank you. I don’t play I’m asking for my son. Which chapter do I need to purchase? And which store? He plays on a PS4.

The Stranger Things chapter via the Play Station Store.

  • What platform are you on? I haven't seen this issue before personally, but I'll try to help.

There are a few simple things you could try first (some of which I'm sure you've already tried, but just in case):

    • Restart game
    • Restart router to reset your connection to the servers
    • Set you and your friend's status to 'Online' if it isn't already
    • Try inviting them to your lobby via the Steam/Xbox/PS UI instead of using the in-game invitation options or vice versa (I play on PC but I'm assuming console has some equivalent to this)
    • Verify the integrity of your game files

If none of these work, then that's really strange if you're still experiencing the same issue. Are you sure you're not banned or something on Steam/Xbox/PS? I know players can get banned from Xbox Live etc which prevents them from playing with friends online, but I highly doubt this is the cause of the issue.

  • @Chchchcheryl said:

On one of the unreleased swamp maps there was a big tree you could loop and had ways to hide and stuff and a way to proc balanced i'm pretty sure, I'd just like them to move that or just revamp the middle tree to actually do something in shelter woods

I was gonna say exactly the same thing - I think it would be a great idea to implement this into Shelter Woods.

  • I used to have the same problem every now and again ages ago (on the same PC as I'm using currently), and what fixed it for me was changing my struggle key. (For me I changed it to F from Space, but you'd have to do something else on console of course). My previous keyboard had a slightly dodgy space bar which I think was the issue, but based on what you're describing, this seems to be a different issue unless your X key has a dodgy sensor.

I know a lot of people use mouse wheel down for struggle, but again that wouldn't work on console for obvious reasons.

  • I agree. I think everything we've seen recently has been very disappointing. Poor Halloween event, poor new Chapter and some awful changes made in 4.5.0 (not all changes are bad, but many are).

If the next chapter is as bad as the last, DBD could be in some trouble.

  • Depends on your rank, how many hooks you got and how quick chases were etc... If you're red ranks or purple ranks then it's entirely possible to not pip with a 3K if you didn't get a lot of hooks.

But yeah I feel bad, sometimes it can be pretty frustrating if you're really close to getting a pip but just miss out.
