  • Balanced but the most boring killer in the game to play against by far.

  • Trash with basekit. With good add ons he's actually pretty balanced, but his basic design is trash.

  • Balanced but boring af to play against.

  • I think unofficial surveys have taken place (I saw a 4.5.0 PTB survey online that wasn't hosted by BHVR), but so far their sample size has been relatively small and it's difficult to reduce bias. If an individual hosts a survey, their followers will be more likely to fill it out rather than non-followers, which could cause results to be skewed, and that wouldn't be particularly useful.

On paper, the best method would be to make an unofficial survey and then set up an agreement with a variety of large content creators etc to publicize it and encourage their followers to fill it out before releasing the data several days later.

Essentially, your idea would definitely work, but like you said it would be logistically a bit tricky and would need to be done on a big scale. But definitely a good idea though! If a good plan with the community could be devised, it would work out great.

  • Might sound kinda dumb, but Twins. Obviously they're new, but literally no one plays them so I often just forget they exist.

Other than that, probably someone like Plague.

  • I play in EU, and in the evenings, and I've always found survivor queues to be incredibly long compared to in the mornings (long enough to have time to make a basic meal often).

I suspect it's because in the evening there are more groups of friends who are able to play with each other, which pushes up the survivor queue times, but that's just my guess.

In fairness to the Devs, it's a difficult one to solve.

  • In fairness it's true that Freddy is extremely powerful relative to the skill you need to play him. I don't think he's crazy OP in the grand scheme of things, but there can certainly be an argument to say he shouldn't be as powerful as he is.

The main issue I think are the teleports. It's free map pressure with no downside. Running BBQ + Pop on Freddy is phenomenally powerful and it definitely doesn't take skill considering what it does for you.

So I could maybe agree with a rework in terms of his teleportation, but other than that he's not the worst.

  • The report system could definitely do with improving, that's for sure.

I should hope that if the design of the game servers is even slightly decent, then multiple suspicious requests from the same clients will likely end up in their accounts being flagged automatically to allow for manual investigation to take place. I obviously don't know anything about the specifics of DBD servers, but you would think a system like this would be in place for a big multiplayer game - especially since client-side anti-cheat can often be very easy to bypass.

  • Not an exploit - the requirements are exactly as you said - you just need to have it in your library.

If the requirements were that you needed to have played the game before it was discontinued and you unlocked it since, then it would be a different story - but in this case it's perfectly legit.

  • I'm pretty sure you can't join the lobby of a non-friend through Steam (unless their privacy settings have been set to allow it). They can also decline your request, which might be why.

  • Thanks for all the responses. I managed to find an old link to what was once a site on EAC with a whitelist (which is the one maaadinsomniac mentioned I think), but it's been completely removed now so it's no use.

I won't bother emailing them since it's not a major deal. People seem to have used it for a while now from what I can see without getting banned, and I can't see how it would break any of the game rules, so I'll use it at my own risk.

    Thanks again!

  • I'm not new, but I can see why you'd think that based on what I said haha. I know BHVR never act on feedback, but for once I don't think they'll get away with this one. The image they'd get would be even worse than what they already have.

  • I think the best solution is just to give players the option to switch between the new and classic HUD in the settings. It's really the fairest decision, since the community as a whole get what they want and the Devs don't have to completely scrap something they spent time on implementing.

Pretty sure a poll was hosted a few days ago on the forums and something like 95% of people said they disliked the new HUD. I think BHVR would be crazy not to do something like this.

  • Don't get me wrong - the server setup definitely has problems, but in fairness to the Devs, grabs are very hard to 'fix'.

If BHVR were to 'fix' grabs in that grabs were always awarded to the killer in scenarios like the one in the video, you'd likely have the exact same problem but for the survivors, in that you'd get grabbed seemingly after leaving whatever you're working on. This would be just as unfun for survivors as it is for killers currently.

There are workarounds to this that could potentially mitigate the problem, but we have to appreciate that they're not always easy to implement.

  • Leatherface is definitely not OP. Sure he's stronger than he used to be thanks to his buff which the Devs did a great job on, but he's not OP.

His weapon is strong, but it still has plenty of limitations and he has a lot of counterplay. He can be countered effectively by survivors at Jungle Gyms, Shack and other strong loops. I think he's very balanced to be honest.

  • @Zesty said:

Because its ######### annoying as you have to wait for your weapon to wipe off when they could be downed right then and there!!!!

I respect your opinion, but I must admit I've never really understood why people find this toxic. If a gen is literally 99% and completing it would give your team an important advantage, then why would it be toxic to pop it in their face? It's just doing the objective efficiently for the good of your team.

Calling that toxic would be like calling a killer toxic for slugging a survivor instead of picking them up if they see an injured survivor right in front of them that they can easily down.

  • Forgot to mention, but my personal opinion is that they should.

  • I'm not an expert of course, and this is purely speculation, but I would say the ping at which hit validation activates is probably too high. Killers with ping that isn't necessarily awful but still isn't at all good can still get away with some pretty questionable hits as everyone has been saying.

It probably just needs some more testing to find the optimal cut off point.

  • Not necessarily every update, but errors occur every few weeks for me and I have to verify them. Pretty much used to it now lol.

  • Red Forest - especially Mother's Dwelling. It's simply too big. Second would be Swamp since it's just boring in my opinion.

It's something that I'd love to have implemented, purely because it would make reporting so much easier for everyone and give the ACM's a much easier time of it if they could pull up a replay of a particular match if it's flagged.

That's actually a really good point, didn't even think of that. I can imagine it must be really difficult for your team currently to convict a player of cheating with hard evidence if only statistics of each match are saved instead of a full replay.

What would be really awesome I think (from the point of view of a player) would be the ability to save a local copy of the game replay for yourself and have the ability to replay it whenever you want via a special spectator mode hosted locally on your DBD client with options to pause, move your camera and speed up etc. Of course it would be a crazy amount of work to implement, but man it would just be incredible!

Fair enough. It definitely is less flexible, and they should look more terrified/ in pain.

Yeah I can definitely agree with you there!

I see the connection. Despite what some people are saying, it is clearly more difficult to "360"(spin like a tornado) now. My friends that only play Survivor think it's the worst thing that could of happened to the game. And it's because it now takes a miniscule amount of strategy to evade a Killer. Even Otz had a look of confusion on his face yesterday when playing the new Survivor mechanics.(Even though he's more of a Killer) I've been hoping this would happen, and it did. Good luck in the fog.

I respect your opinion, but I still don't really understand your point.

It's not as if 360s were overpowered or something in the first place. They're like a last-resort if you have nothing left to work with and just want to delay your down as quickly as possible, and they're not even a consistent strategy.

Plus, I could be slightly wrong with what I stated earlier - if they simply changed the animations and not the movement, then 360s might still be just as possible, it's just that a different technique might be required for them to work again.

I mean it's not the end of the world, I'm not obsessed enough to care a huge deal, I just liked the old movement for it's feeling of freedom and flexibility.

  • Many older players have either left for good, got tired of the game or are considering leaving, and you can't really blame them for it. The game just isn't what it once was. Not saying that everything has made a turn for the worse - the Devs have done a great job with many balance changes for example over the years, and we've had some good content here and there, but on the whole I think they could be doing a lot better.

Also, as ALostPuppy pointed out, it constantly feels as if feedback isn't acted upon. I mean I'm sure they read it, but most of the time there isn't even a proper response to it, let alone even the consideration of making changes to the game based on it.

I don't want to come across as disrespectful to the Devs, it's just really frustrating the way the game has been going.

  • Whether you agree or disagree with Scott (and I agree with him for sure), he does bring up a good point about the monopoly.

BHVR are seriously lucky that they have such a unique game and don't have competition. If a big games studio came in with a game that rivaled DBD, DBD would be at serious risk of dying out for good. It's worrying to be honest, because DBD is a game I absolutely love.

I'm sure plenty of excessively entitled Survivor mains can't tolerate how they can't spin around 6 times per second like the Tasmanian Devil. The running looks much cleaner and realistic. Great job BHVR!

I don't really see the connection between being an "excessively entitled survivor main" and disliking the new movement.

I would disagree on it being realistic. I'm not saying that the old animations were realistic - but the new ones certainly don't feel life-like.

  • @SkeletalElite said:

I played a few matches and in terms of 360s/moon walking/tbagging/ect. are all doable even if they look at little different. Mechnically it feels the exact same but it looks a little better now. Only thing I think is worse is the idle standing animation. They're standing very casually but like, they're being hunted by a monstrous killer they should be a little hunched / on guard.

Thing is, even though most are doable, the change in animation has definitely made many more difficult. Aaron Techs, certain styles of 360s etc have become really difficult to do which is a bit annoying. I can't tell whether the movement itself has been changed, or if my judgement of what keys to press when has changed due to the changes of the animations that I'm not used to.

Even disregarding the memey stuff though, I don't really think the new animations fulfilled their design goal of being smoother particularly.

  • @boostedsurvivormain said:

The new downed animations look really good imo. But the standing and injured running animations look really out of place. It's kinda surprising someone looked at these and were like "Yeah, this is perfect"

Yeah, I would agree. Especially with the injured running animation xD

  • Update: I'm aware of the pinned thread about what seems to be a similar issue. I wasn't sure if this was the same issue or not, but the descriptions of what occurred in the issue described by the pinned thread seemed different to mine, so I posted a separate thread. Apologies if I have done this wrong.
