  • Hi @Rizzo90, thank you for the well wishes. Now that I am out and got all the good vibes I needed, I'm feeling self conscious with bumping this thread every time someone responds and think it would be better if you would please move it to the Off-topic section if you would so please <3

Steroids are no joke man. Some patients get pretty testy while taking them while some can't stop eating and have the hardest time relaxing. Question, did they check your blood sugar while taking the steroids in hospital?

As far as nasal spray, some people have noted that it can cause gnarly migraines so if you're prone to headaches, be careful. But! Really any nasal spray for dry sinuses/ allergies will help but you could also just get a bowl of hot water and a towel. Just cover your head and place it over the bowl for a few minutes. You'll look silly sure but it helps a ton (also it's free hahaha). If you're ever back as a patient make sure you ask for humified oxygen!

Yes, they did my blood work every morning and it always checked out great. The only issue I have is blood pressure but we had it under control and they're going to set me up with a doctor in the future to make sure I bring it down naturally.

I'll go to walmart later and look at sprays, but I'll probably do as you suggest and use hot water and a towel. Thanks again for all of your advice and help!

Most steroids have pretty strict instructions for tapering (i.e take 4 for the first 2 days followed by 3 then 2 then 1) if I remember correctly take home prescriptions for prednisone has it laid out nicely in pimple packs so you don't even have to think about it.

Steroids make it sometimes hard to sleep at night so look at having melatonin or even Benadryl!

Yes, you are correct on making it hard to sleep, it was also causing me to have anxiety. They let me try Xanax once but I didn't want to get prescribed any and I didn't notice it do much in the hospital the one time they gave it to me, so I ended up making sure I purchased melatonin which helps. Currently, they have me on dexamethasone and have given me a prescription of 1 mg tablets in order to make it easier to count how much I take and to easily taper if off. Off of the top of my head, its like, I have to take 6 each day for the next three days and then go down to 4 pills for three days, then 2 for three days and finally 1 pill a day for three days.

I do have one question I wanted to ask. Do you have any nasal spray suggestions that would help moisturize my nasal passages? The oxygen I was on has kind of messed them up and I'm tired of all the dry blood connected to long gooey strands of mucus (sorry for that image). I've noticed improvement by rinsing with warm water in a hot shower, but I can't do that all the time. I don't want anything for allergies or similar, I know those can make it worse, which leads to using the product more and not really improving the situation. Just something to remove the dryness.

Crazy to hear that. Me I'm 43 and I only got a small fever from Covid and was fine after 3-4 days. My little sister at 29 yrs was very sick and had to go to hospital. Now over a year later she still has no smell and everything she eats taste awful. She has lost 35 kilos and is super thin now, too thin. Anyway take care!

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that about your sister. It just goes to show you that everyone isn't the same and this terrible virus affects people differently. Even though it's over a year, I genuinely wish her well and hope she eventually fully recovers and lives a long happy life.

Oh God I know that's right, I remember right before covid first burst into the public I had just gotten a management job and became extremely ill but couldn't call off in fear of losing the job so I would wake up down a bunch of DayQuil work 10+hours get home and it was nightquil O'clock, rinse and repeat for weeks.

As for mattress shopping you're on your own because I loved it. Upgraded to a king and spent about 2 hours just laying on beds, imagining a mountain of pillows to nest in and soft blankets surrounding me in fuzzy warmth 2 hours later it was delivered and set up and I napped so hard

That's usually my sick day routines! DayQuil and NyQuil. If you ever get a severe cough, I found that nothing works better than Delsym cough syrup. I've tried everything, and even though it is pricey, (everything is these days), I will spend the 12-15 bucks for the bottle. It has always brought down my constant coughing when sick from once every couple of minutes to a few times every 3-5 hours or less.

The mattress shopping is going to be annoying because of two reasons. One, I have social anxiety, so laying on mattresses in front of people is going to be a nightmare. Two, it's going to be expensive. I hate spending money and after my ordeal, I have to find a new job/career. Though I have options to hold me over, it's going to be annoying.

I would pick the darkest and hardest to see. There wouldn't really be customization, just the one that gives you the most advantage.

That would obviously not be possible if the devs do it right. You'd only be able to select from a preset color scheme that the devs have tested and probably be deactivated if someone is using a colorblind mode. The brightness and hue wouldn't be accessible, just color.

What a rollercoaster of emotions! I'm happy you're free and feeling better! Idk about you but hospitals tend to give me anxiety and depression on top of being ill so I'm glad youre out and in the comfort of your own home and bed ❤️

They used to do the same for me but then the opposite happened. I was actually happy having people take care of me for once in my life! After working hard crappy jobs 12-16 hours a day everyday for most of my life, I never really knew what being taken care of felt like. It was a nice change of pace just trying to heal, chatting with the nurses and forgetting about my life's issues, so much so that I didn't want to leave because I didn't want to get back into the stress of life.

Oh, and I cannot stress this enough, it is so nice sleeping on my own bed. I actually have to buy a new mattress and maybe frame because its old and lumpy, but my goodness, I can sleep a solid 5-6 hours now rather than get up in the hospital every hour. I just hate mattress shopping.

So sorry man that you're going through this. Stay strong! It's a shame that there are still plenty of people out there who don't take covid seriously. Hope to see you back in the fog soon!

While I don’t want to turn this thread into a topic about Covid, I will say that, while yes, plenty aren’t taking it seriously, I think the problem is for a lot of people, if it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind. You don’t realize how bad it really is unless you or a loved one gets it.

My own family still don’t realize how bad it was for me and how close to lung failure I was. It doesn’t help that the media has been fear mongering things for years, just for ratings, that when the ######### hits the fan, people don’t take them seriously. Finally, education is really lacking in the “civilized” world and people think with emotion rather than facts (just look at Dbd as an example, many arguments about the game are weak and have no substance, and all based on feelings rather than data).

I just hope people come out of this alive and society comes out of this stronger and smarter. That or I just win the lottery so I can move away!

Thank you so much for being so nice and helpful! I’ll make sure to harass you if I need you. Right now my issue is just having to be careful and taper off of the annoy lung steroid and trying to fix my sleep schedule.

Well, I’m also getting obsessive on looking up healthy wholesome recipes to cook even though I’ll probably be to lazy to do.

  • Honestly, it is my most hated map in the whole game, but after playing on it over and over you do start to learn, pft yeah, no, I hates it more than Gollum hates the stinking Hobbit that stole his ring. It is terrible and the only saving grace is that its bad for both sides, so there is a chance for at least a two man escape. Unless it's an evil Piggy, all Piggies who offer up this map offering can suffer. I hate you all, not even your snoot will sway me!

  • I just wanted to give everyone an update on my status. The Bush has been freed! I am currently sitting on my computer typing this and it is so nice not sitting on the rock (hospital bed) that I've been forced to make my home for the last two weeks! The doctor says everything is looking fantastic, I didn't need to take home any extra oxygen, thank god, I wasn't looking forward to lugging a tank around everywhere. I just have to make sure I taper off of my meds properly and take it easy to build up my strength as @xBEATDOWNSx advised me to do earlier!

While I know this forum is generally filled with negativity and anger, I knew at its core we have lots of good people here in the community. Thank you so much for showing me some compassion when I was at my lowest, physically, spiritually and mentally, it really meant a lot to me even though we are all technically strangers. It just shows everyone can help just be being there.

Once again, thank you all so much and happy gaming <3

They probably prescribed you Warfarin or Lovenox for your clots/ prevention! PT would be physical therapy. Make sure you're walking around and moving your legs. Blood pools in your legs while you're sitting or laying and if left to long, you can develop a blood clot in your leg which can lead to your brain or lungs. Neither are good outcome. If you're able, go for a walk in your yard once a day. Just keep moving.

The wires that crossed your body are probably the telemetry wires and your continuous pulse ox. SED/ PAS/ IPC's are the wraps they put on your legs that hook up your legs that squeeze them. It mimics the muscle contractions in your legs and simulates what your legs do while walking. You're supposed to wear them while you're in bed for long periods of time though some people will use TED hose.

I'm here if you need anything man. Covid is scary and the unknowns behind it make it worse. Just make sure you're washing your hands and moving around the best you can. Keep an eye on any fever, eat and drink fluids, and stay healthy. I'm here if you need anything, man!

Thank you for all of your advice! I was wondering why they were giving me blood clot medication and didn’t realize it was due to being bedridden and immobile. I assumed it was due to the virus and medication they put me on. It makes sense and I’ll be sure to constantly get up once an hour and try to move for 10-15 minutes at a time.

They didn’t put any wires on my legs, just some leads that were placed on my chest and sides. I would have liked if they would have but I didn’t know it was an option.

Ill be sure to stay clean, my OCD basically requires it of me. I’m actually looking forward to going to walmart and buying cleaning supplies!

  • If you have the patience and evidence you should, but if you feel like it’s a waste of your time you shouldn’t. It’s a video game and not a job, you should only be here to play, not file reports.

If it gets bad enough, the devs will be forced to do something or they can just watch the game die.

They should have a better in game report system to make things easier. It would be nice.

  • @xBEATDOWNSx said:

    Nurse and covid survivor here.

Keep your head up and eyes forward. Make sure you work with PT and keep your damn SED's/ PAS on in bed. Last thing I want to hear is you got a blood clot.

I'm here if you need to talk/ have questions. Same to anyone here

Thank you so much! They’ve been giving me daily blood clot medication though they don’t think I need it anymore.

What do you mean by “PT” and what are SED’s/PAS? Are those the annoying monitors and wires that I was tethered to? If so, they were so annoying! I’m rather hairy and they refused to stick. Ended up basically wrapped in medical tape to keep them in place. They have actually taken me off of them yesterday!

From my understanding, I’ll probably be sent home with a steroid prescription for my lungs and some blood pressure medication. I’m just happy that I won’t be needing an oxygen tank!

I think my biggest problem leaving the hospital is pacing myself, taking it easy and slowly rebuilding my lost muscle mass. That and some issues with life that I have to deal with, but I’m gonna take baby steps!

    *PS.

In case no one has ever said it to you, thank you for choosing to be a nurse. I’ve never truly appreciated how important health care workers are until I needed them and after being here for two weeks, I see how much stress and bull crap you guys go through. I don't know why we need new DLCS every 3 months I get it because of the money, but there's bigger things we need to worry about in this game.

Behavior needs a new chapter every three months because they have people they need to pay and they need to show profits for shareholders.

The game also needs something to consistently attract new players and bring back old disgruntled players, even if temporary. As stale as the chapters have been in recent time, the newness still helps “freshen” up the monotony of the game. At it’s core, the game is actually simple and just becomes tedious over time. New maps and killer powers help remedy it.

I think the best thing Behaviour can do is just hire a separate new team that focuses on a new engine but I don’t know the costs for something like that and if it would be worth it for them. They might see this game as a sinking ship and are now just trying to bleed it dry as much as they can.

  • Honestly, I don’t think there is much they can do without a full rewrite of the game, which lets be honest, will never happen. It’s disappointing, but it is what it is.

I don’t think the devs are happy with the performance of their game and the rampant cheaters, but I don’t think they get a say on what they can work on. Their bean counter bosses are probably constantly breathing down their throats to keep content coming every three months when they need 2 years to rewrite the game in modern code with modern anti-cheat.

Heck, the games code is so bad, every chapter release in the last year came out in a broken unplayable mess, which looks like is only going to get worse.

My only hope for this game is for another company to purchase the game and do it justice, but that can backfire too.

So being on hook for 2 mins, with little to no interaction is still considered playing the game? I dont see it.

Being on hook is part of the game, yes. Being on hook until you die because the killer wont leave long enough to let anyone help you should not be part of the game.

And no, you're not actually doing anything while you're on a hook. That is the purpose of the hook and the purpose of camping. To prevent a player from playing the game long enough to kill them and take the advantage.

Yes, you are doing something while being on the hook, it’s called being patient and hanging on for as long as possible in order to give your teammates time to get as many gens completed as possible.

It’s not that you don’t see it, it’s that you just don’t want to accept that it’s part of playing the game because it’s just not “fun”.

  • Camping and tunneling do not take the game hostage, stop being over dramatic. You are still playing the game when getting tunneled and even when getting camped. Yes, they’re frustrating and boring, still doesn’t mean you’re not playing.

Complaining about “wasted time” is moot. Unless you earn a living do this, all video games can be considered a waste of time.

Finally, the game is 1 Vs 4. The 1 should be able to dictate who they go after and how fast they want them out of the match, granted that they can catch them first. Nerfing tunneling and camping will break that power dynamic and will also kill the game.

While I’d like to see face camping gone, there really aren’t many options to get rid of it without drastically changing the core game mechanics, something that if done wrong, can kill this game. So I don’t blame the devs for being overly cautious about it.

  • I think it’s just part of the cycle of toxicity that comes with this game. Perhaps the Bubba in question had a string of bad games and playing different killers and got bullied, insulted, t-bagged over and over, and have decided that they’re going to get revenge on their next poor sap they catch.

Heck, with how the game is at its core, they don’t even have to have been bullied or insulted for them to just feel like everything is against them, sometimes the survivors are just that much better than them and it just makes them feel like they are in a downward battle and decide to camp.

And sometimes, they’re just toxic and want to camp to rile some feathers, but that isn’t just a Bubba player thing and and more for someone who just wants a power trip because they couldn’t get one in real life.

Thankfully, in my experience, camping Bubbas are not as common as the complaints on the forums make it seem. I haven’t been able to play in a while due to health (I should be released from the hospital today, yay!), but I’ve rarely seen a full face camping Bubba unless we plow through three gens before they get their first hook or it’s endgame.

In the end, I’d rather have a camping Bubba vs an Iridescent Head Huntress Camper.

  • They really should implement a new animation that kicks in after a minute and third seconds, where if the game detects that both the killer and a survivor haven’t moved, it would allow the survivor to either lose collision for 15 seconds or just have the ability to push the killer out of the way.

  • Maybe because killers who complain don’t want to play in the same way as Blight did in your example? Perhaps some, if not most, killer players would rather spread out the hooks, give the unhooked survivor a chance and go after the unhooker, and has repeatedly tried to do so, only to have it come back and bite them in the butt with gloating survivors at the exit gate?

  • I hate indoor maps since I’m bad at the game in general, but variety is the spice of life and I will be sad to see Hawkins go because it’s just one unique map that will no longer be in rotation.

Im hoping this is just part of a marketing ploy between Behaviour and Netflix and that they’ll release a new Stranger Things chapter with a new map and characters in the future (I know, wishful thinking, but would be nice).

  • @nicnc82 said:

In the last dev stream, they actually admitted they ARE working on ways to punish camping. Not proxy end game camping but hard camping. And killers deserve that.

Yes, they did, but they haven’t given any idea as to what route they’d go down to achieving Like a lot of empty promises, this can turn out to be no different, so don’t get your hopes up.

Barring teleporting hooks, I don’t think camping will ever be removed.

  • I want to rub your head.

  • I’d just add a perquisite to its use, something that the player needs to have prepared in order to have the perk ready to be used.

I don’t know what it should be, but it’s better than the, hur dur, I’m caught with my pants around my ankles, lemme push a button to pull them up. With all the complaints of killer having to “earn” their perks/abilities, same should apply to survivors.

  • @Tr1nity said:

The issue is thats using a perk slot thats only useful if they bodyblock.

That’s the game. Equip the perks you think that will help you. It sucks, but it is what it is. Body Blocking, while annoying, is a non-issue. As others have pointed out, it means survivors aren’t on generators and are in front of your blade. Capitalize on it by equipping perks that will help.

Starstruck with Infectious Fright will keep them out of your way if you see it often. You can tone it down and pick one perk and use Mad Grit, you just need to be decent at hitting while carrying.

From a solo survivor perspective, yeah, everything is designed against them. Play solo survivor a couple times a week so you can learn.

I main Claudette, have for over 2900 hours, and only play solo. No, not everything is designed against solo, it’s as easy as can be when you have teammates that aren’t powered by potato batteries.

Im terrible at the game and hit my skill ceiling long ago, yet, I can waste enough time of the killers that 3 gens pop before they down me, all I have to do is start running the second I see the killer coming. And this is with just “shift + W” and just running past pallets without dropping them. The only time I get put down quickly is when I screw up, which is often since I can’t look behind myself while running (spine chill is my crutch), or if it’s a stealth killer, since I always walk into them and push their blade into my heart.

Absolutely, I have no idea why they haven't done more test weekends like the bloodlust one, it is such a missed opportunity that can gather so much feedback.

They could also make a separate mode specifically for tests, so it doesn't feel forced onto people.

    Also get well soon <3

They don’t have to do it on weekends when it’s high play time! They can do it on Tuesday and Wednesdays, twice a month. I’m just going to blame the bean counters and pretend the devs have no say so.

  • I am! They doctor was talking about releasing me as soon as this weekends if not by Monday. It depends on the continued healing of my lungs. I’m a little worried because of how bad I was before I admitted myself and now that I’m getting better, I attribute it to being in the hospital and have gotten attached. It’s weird, I never thought I’d be attached to a hospital or not want to leave it.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2609104#Comment_2609104

There are definitely things they can do to prevent tunneling, its camping thats the tricky part. Like you said you can only really add incentives.

And even changing core mechanics can be tricky as well, for instance I've been writing a post of how I would rework the trials, make things feel fresh, unique but also eliminate the main frustrations of the game. Camping is the trickiest one BY FAR and I've been writing this thing for over 3 months now, every idea that I've come up with there's always a flaw. So really I'm gonna give some slack to the devs because it isn't an easy task.

    *Also thank you :)

    * You’re welcome,

I know the solutions much more difficult than us layman can comprehend and I don’t hate the devs, I’m just frustrated with them. I just wish they’d do two day trials like they did with the bloodlust weekend and see what works and what doesn’t on live servers. If it works, great, if not, just revert it.

They need to do something, because the game just feels more and more stale. Hell, I haven’t been able to play in over two weeks due to being hospitalized, and just thinking about coming back to the game doesn’t seem exciting.

  • @Shroompy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2609065#Comment_2609065

Fair enough but what people also fail to understand is these frustrations are completely valid, not saying Camping and Tunneling aren't, they're viable strategies but they aren't fun strategies.

From what I can tell majority of people play killer on the forums considering the topic of threads made every day, and the moment some one makes a post about Survivor frustrations they immediately get ridiculed.

Almost every one who mains one side always views the other side as the "easier" side.

I honestly think the complaints about both sides are pretty much equal, except for the usual Nerf NoeD or monthly Sluzzy post.

I agree that tunneling and camping aren’t fun, but what can be done to discourage killers from doing them while still keeping their player agency? I never thought about it until another player explained it to me.

I don’t think anything other than encouraging the killer to leave the hook, by providing incentives, would work. Trying to have the game force the killer away against their will will just be more hand holding and make the survivor role easier and killer role more difficult, which will kill the game.

As far as balance goes, unless the devs decide to grow some balls and change core mechanics, this is the best we will ever be at.

*Off topic, I love your name.
