dude, as long as queue is as survivor now, I don't blame them for rather having you have wasted your own ten minutes in queue than themselves if they can drop the killer on you and get to play alittle bit longer. I started doing the same thing myself. It's not cheating, the game was originally designed for randoms trying to survive, and naturally, you would try to survive by any means necessary. That includes getting somebody else killed so you can stay alive when the option presents itself. There is a reason very few people are that selfless, we refer to it as "natural selection". Meaning those sort of mindsets don't keep you alive very long, and by extension, able to feed, nurture, and protect your offspring. So being Too "altruistic" is not something likely to be common, since it wasn't often passed on and when it was it was at a massive disadvantage when competing with selfishness. There is no right or wrong, those are social constructs, there is only do or don't do. And sandbagging is something I will do until I stop having ten minute (sometimes more) queues.

Collaborating with the Killer is a banable offense, one thing is going towards a gen when chased hoping he loses interest in you and goes for another person (a jerk move but not banable) an another one is intentional sandbagging, wasting pallets or leading the Killer to your position with Bond etc.

  • Thats because his lore is longer than War and Peace or Les Miserables and people (myself included) dont wanna waste 4 hours reading some tacky, cliche filled backstory.

  • The grind is awful with so many perks and characters, I believe perks should get a normalized rank or at least make all ranks cost 3000 BPs only.

Play any fighting game - Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, whatever. If devs run out of ideas after 10 killers they should hire someone creative.

Not good examples, Street Fighter has a ton of carbon copy characters with little variations like Ryu/Ken/Sagat/Akuma/Sakura/Gouken and the rest of the shotos, grapplers are usually very similar between themselves too, most of them relying on the 360º motion for their moves, yes, I know, they are not exactly the same but they are more similar between themselves than Huntress/Deathslinger.

Mortal Kombat has like how many ninjas and kunoichis?.

Guilty Gear does have more variation and unique characters as trade off its very poorly balanced (even by fighting games standards), it has some SS+ tier characters almost everyone picks and the rest of the cast which is not bad but people rarely play them, when I played GG Xrd I cant remember facing like half the cast, while the other half was non existant.

  • A Killer with Thanatophobia will want people running this thing, Desperate Measures does not increase gen speeds while Thana does slow them down.

A team running Desperate Measure against Thanatophobia will enjoy a 46% faster healing speed at the cost of 16% gen speed penalty, being at risk of getting one shooted and consuming a perk slot. I would LOVE facing said team.

Killers are great! Killer powers on the other hand... Yeah, thats repetetive. And do you know why? Perks, shared perks. Imagine if every Killer could have 4 original perks only for himself. That would be great! Every killer could be unique. Also survivors... THat would also balance the whole game. Eh.

Ps. Demogorgon is not like Huntress, he is like Witch. Duh.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1551979#Comment_1551979

He is not Original, he is Gimmicky (Billy), thats huge difference.

Powers are repetitive mainly because we have 20 Killers, there is so much you can add before running out of options because you reach a limit. Either the engine, or the game mechanics or the balance will act as a limit, or you enter Reddit tier of suggestions where some people suggest such stupidly overpowered stuff that makes you wonder if a 12 year old drunk with Naruto videos made the whole concept.

The purpose of crossplay is primarily to let friends play together regardless of platform. This grows the game, because being able to play a fun game with your friends on other systems is not a very common feature and is therefore a big draw.

On paper Crossplay seems like it would help queue times; after all, you have more people matchmaking, so can't we all find matches more easily? In practice, that only makes sense for a game with a tiny player base. There are enough people playing that the issue isn't how many people are queueing. The issue is that the balance of killers to survivors is not optimal.

Let's do a little thought experiment. If you have 10,000 people playing DBD and there are slightly under 2,000 killer mains and slightly over 8,000 survivor mains - the ratio should be a bit more than 4 survivors to 1 killer because the killer always stays to the end of the match and survivors get to re-queue early - both sides will have very fast queue times. If you have 100,000 people playing DBD and there are 50,000 killer mains and 50,000 survivor mains, though, survivor queue times are going to be absolutely horrendous, like probably 30-40 minutes, while killer queue times are going to be near instant. It doesn't matter that the player base is 10 times larger, since the ratio is more relevant for matchmaking when the player base is not small.

Since Crossplay was enabled killer queue times have been near instant and survivor queue times are way longer than they were before for me (~5 minutes). That suggests that the balance of survivors to killers tilts towards survivor on console, and that would make sense given that the poor performance on console is particularly problematic when playing killer.

TL;DR Killer/Survivor balance matters more to queue times than overall player base. Crossplay just lets you play with your friends.

I believe you made a mistake, if you have 50000 Survivors and 50000 Killers the ones who get queue are Killers since you need 4 Survivors for 1 Killer.

MMR isn't affecting matchmaking, but I am absolutely willing to bet that it is still gathering data in the background for its rerelease.

Im sure this is the reason they didnt disable Killer lock.

  • I moonwalk as Myers in the Exit Gates if the Survivors had good sportsmanship and I stay looking at the last guy in the hook like Myers in Halloween 1978 if he has been a jerk, especially a jerk to the other survivors.

The ability to tilt his head is the only thing he really needs right now.

As Jigsaw I let people boop the snot in the Exit games if they had good sportsmanship.

  • Hells no, broken keys are not very useful and on top of that they show as a normal key on your hand, painting a target the size of the Everest on your back.

  • I had a very bad experience with TF2, once it went F2P the servers were swarmed by AWFUL and clueless players, they were so bad it wasnt enjoyable to play with or against them, on your team they were useless, on the enemy team they were boring to massacre.

Unless they put a decent MMR system I think F2P would scare away most people playing Survivor by the sheer amount of potatos we would get paired, also decent Killers would quit as stomping potatos all day long gets boring, eventually.

  • I dont think a well done MMR is an unpopular opinion, but what we got was extremely messy thing with several oversights (like no base MMR for Killers).

    What I've noticed:

    As Killer: 30 matches

    • 26 4k matches (I count carrying the last survivor to the hatch as a 4k for this purpose) with at least 2 gens left in all. These matches had at least 3 console survivors in each. They were total potatoes. The worst rank was rank 8 with most being red rank. I'm rank 2 now. These guys do not do gens. They Urban Evade and Selfcare constantly. Dumb move vs Trapper and Pig.
    • 2 matches with 4 PC survivors - both were very good SWFs. Though they were fun matches, I admit to losing both as all 4 escaped each time. To my credit, they were all on death hook and I let the last one go in one of them. Gens were flying off shelves like toilet paper in a pandemic!
    • 2 Matches with primarily console survivors where 2 escaped.

Overall findings - Console players rely too much on 360s, which don't work well vs PC killers due to optimization. They tend to run more Selfcare, DS and Urban Evasion. Selfcare makes you the killer's best friend (you are off selfcaring while I down another survivor. By the time you are healed, I hit you again. You are not on a gen - thank you for that). DS is great if you are facing a tunneling killer, but I prefer to seek and destroy the next in line. I got DS'ed only one time in all of those games. Overall, I grew bored as heck facing so many potatoes. I thank them for the BP, but I prefer to be challenged. The only fun matches I had were vs those two SWF.....Gawd help me! I actually was happy to see an SWF!!!! Oh, then there is a disappearing bug. I have had several console survivors literally vanish in front of me. Just POOF! Gone.

    As survivor:

12 matches (I don't like playing solo que as it is - this was even worse!!!!)

    • The Selfcare/Urban Evade survivor teammates from console were about as useful as a football bat.
    • 8 Matches vs Console killers - pure nightmare. They are yo-yos on my screen. They seem to glitch back and forth. Timing pallet drops or vaults is very hard due to their frames being so low. I got hit through more walls and solid objects than ever before. I had a huntress hit me from 30 meters while I was hiding behind a T-Wall. Literally through the wall. We were not in chase, just BAM! WTH?! I think a lot of the console killers are thinking that PC survivors can't loop well, but in reality, it is a huge problem timing your loops when the killer is phasing throughout the map. One second he is roughly 16 meters away, then you get smacked!

Overall findings - Some of the console survivors broke the mold and played well. I saw why they 360 so much. The console killers really struggled vs the 360. I started using it when I'd see a phasing yo-yo killer chasing me and it worked really well. I was able to make that poor Doc miss 8 times in a row! That's a new record! I never got more than 2 in a row before - I'm not very good with 360s. The console killers were very difficult due to timing issues. Before figuring out to just 360, I struggled on loops because I could not tell if he was in swinging distance or not.

In short, I turned off cross play. It is a disaster.

Similar here, I also found Console Survivors tend to use way more meta perks than PC, more Unbreakable+DS combo, more Self-Care and for some reason way less BT than I see on PC.

My console teammates as Survivor have been... cuestionable to say the least.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/182291/aren-t-pc-players-supposed-to-be-better

My experience has been the complete opposite lol

Every console killer I play against gets completely wrecked unless except for once or twice and the same goes for survivors when I play killer

Yeah same here, both as Survivor and Killer, people with the globe get smashed to smithereens.

  • Since I play PC I cant speak about extra sweatiness from PC Killers since they what I usually face but I can say console Survivors are super toxic, not that it tilts me as I take the game as what it is, a game but the amount of T-bag, meta perk spam and clicky flashlights is astounding. Best part is they dont even have to skills to backup such attempts at toxicity and they usually end sacrificed, are console Killers so soft that Survivors have grow overconfident? If thats the case they are going to learn to show the proper respect in blood.

I think ive met more toxic console survivors in the few days after crossplay was implemented than in the whole 2020.

  • Yeah, adept Killer achievements are outdated and should get reworked to be only 4K with no Mori offering.

Nea is swedish, David is english, Jeff is canadian, Ace is Argentinian.

The color of the skin doesn't matter, the country their are from is. I'm glad devs created survivors that aren't all americans like it was at the beginning ( the four original are americans )

As for killer you forgot Hag and Trapper who are both people of color.

I think Trapper is white but his flesh is scorched by The Entity torture.

  • She feels generic for me.

She's just typical Buzzfeed unsolved woman with no real character and tomboy aesthetic nothing new for DBD sadly :/

Nailed, while this archetype was rare a long time ago, now is super abundant, its similar to PoC women with attitude and an afro, it feels like most developers went with "Oh look, how progressive and inclusive Ill carbon copy the design", they dont feel forced but they do feel uninspired.

Jane for example is a decent Zarina archetype (strong-willed minority woman with principles) but she doesnt feel as reiterative as Zarina.

  • I would buy that DLC for sure.

  • It depends, some people wont stop asking for their favorite licenses no matter how obscure or unfitting they are, this very forum is cluttered with "How about (obscure character) in the game? Its super iconic and it will fit very well!", I think one of the problems we have for a patch centered only about bug fixing is the sheer number of people who will just buy any license they put in the game, that money is hard to ignore.

Also the thing that bothers me the most about those supposed 2 licenses is, if one is Candyman, who is a rather obsscure character with only 3 films, 2 of them AWFUL beyond words, who is the other one? once they run out of known licenses there is only the crappy b-movie/exlpoitation slasher films left. (Jason is not going to happen with the legal trouble and Chucky gameplaywise would be awful, only Pinhead left and I dont think is easy to get, outside of that there isnt much left to work with unless you go for crap like Maniac Cop or even worse things).

I guess designer team cant take responsibility for fixing bugs it isnt in their competence. Their simply do their job - design and try to balance game and at the same time another team working on bugs

Yeah but any change the designers think of must be coded into the game, those coders could help fix bugs instead of coding more perks and Killers nobody uses after the first month. Designers can keep designing things and putting them on hold meanwhile the bulk of the workforce focuses on fixing all the problems and bugs the game has.

Some leakers say the next 2 chapters can only be bought with Auric Cells, those are usually used for licenced characters (one is supposed to be Candyman).

  • I think they should stop churning out Killers and Survivors for sometime and focus on fixing or at least minimize all the issues the game has.

I doubt it will be the case in the near future as DLCs are prepared and worked on from months on advance and if the next 2 chapters are licensed they have milestone to fulfill and contractual obligations.

That's exactly what they should have done in the first place - let it rank us, then push it live for matchmaking. Awesome.

That an also add a baseline MMR for all Killers since people with 1000 hours that never touch a Killer were paired against Survivors with 3 hours.

  • @Aneurysm said:

If the killer lock stays it probably means it's coming back after some adjustments

If you are 3 genning yourself you are already probably going to lose.

As everyone already pointed out, there is literally no point to kicking gens if you don't have pop, or maybe surveillance. The amount of regression you get is usually not worth the few seconds you take to kick it, especially when gen tapping is a thing.

With a base 5% regression 3gen would be inevitable in a lot of maps and there is a point in kicking a gen, sure it might get taped 10 seconds after you leave it but it might not be taped at all.

Ive seen enough generators regress from more than 70% to 0% with base, regular kicks both as Survivor and as a Killer to know that not kicking a gen is not always the best course of action, as everything in this game it depends on a lot of variables and adhering to a rule just because is recipe for mistakes.

I understand the yellow one is mostly harmless but in my experience if I see a hidden Killer offering 95% of times is an Ebony and in my experience Ebonies are brought to vent steam because some meanies were mean towards the Killer last match and someone has to pay for that. I used my Huntress games as a real example, I play Huntress everyday and end up facing new survivors all the times, thats why I won't let them escape, otherwise their MMR would rise a lot. Yeah, it's sad they will get stomped and probably stop playing, but at least I'm doing them a favor.

The MMR system with the "10 matches played" clearly is not working, as I would expect because in a game like DBD you can't measure players skill with such little data. Like I said on my post, all your Killer's MMR should reflect on the Killer you're queuing.

Yeah I know, but I clearly stated I played Nurse 6 games in my life, none of those in 2020 when allegedly they started recording statistics for MMR matchmaking.

The matchmaking was using my 0 MMR as Nurse and treating my like a newcomer so it paired me against newcomers even when I have 1000 hours in the game. By letting they live the game is going to calculate and raise their MMR as they had beaten someone with 0 MMR not like they beat me as Myers (the one I play the most and reached Rank1 all seasons until today for like 1 year).

What im trying to say is by letting them escape with a low MMR Killer they wont be getting any higher in the system, since the game doesnt take on account other Killers or playtime. And newcomer Survivor is harsh and disencouraging enough for me to bully fresh fishes just because the MMR is busted, I dont want the comunity to shrink because it will hurt me in the long time.

On a sidenote, Killer mains always complain how incredible frustrating and miserable they feel and how the evil SWF bullies them to misery and hopelesness yet since the MMR got implemented Ive seen some really nasty acts from veteran Killers against super obvious newcomers, like tunneling, facecamping, slugging to an excesive degree, Mori etc... thats the magic of being paired with newcomers as Survivor too, you can watch some red ranks going postal on ranks 20.

  • @Kees_T said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1528783#Comment_1528783

Don't let survivors escape, just kill them. By allowing them to leave you will increase their MMR and they will end up again with another experienced Killer just to be stomped again.

(EDIT* If you manage to escape against a Killer with a high MMR you MMR as survivor will go up very fast. That's why as a experienced Killer, you never should let "baby survivors" escape, they will get stomped the next game, make them stay in the lower base to avoid this)

He wanted to say that your experience in other Killer's should reflect in your global MMR killer, since the experience of playing Killer is all the same(basic concept of looping, mindgames, m1, m2).

They should make a global MMR for all Killer's you have. For example, I played 100 matches with Huntress and I've done a good job on my matches(a lot of 4ks), the next time I play with another Killer, my MMR with other Killer's should reflect with the Killer I will be queuing, that means I won't have my MMR at 0 for that Killer, but it will start from a X margin, avoiding unbalanced matches.

"By allowing them to leave you will increase their MMR and they will end up again with another experienced Killer just to be stomped again."

They got paired against a guy with 1000 hours and red rank because the game only took my 0 games as Nurse for the matchmaking, which is extremely wrong and needs to change, they will be paired against people with very little time on the Killers they select not little time in the game, only if the system gets fixed theyll get paired against new players too.

Also, how much lower MMR can a guy with 26 minutes in the game get? Id rather play the game holding back and throw them a bone by letting them escape after I get my hooks and chases than bullying newcomers sot hey can close the game, uninstall and never touch it again.

"If you manage to escape against a Killer with a high MMR you MMR as survivor will go up very fast. That's why as a experienced Killer, you never should let "baby survivors" escape, they will get stomped the next game, make them stay in the lower base to avoid this)"

Right now they wont because the game took only my MMR as Nurse (which was 0 since I didnt play her during all 2020 and half of 2019), the game tought they escaped against someone as new as they, thats why there has to be a baseline MMR for Killers, to avoid pairing newcomers against people who know the basics and the advanced stuff.

what do you mean? just starting all killers at rank 10 if they've been to red ranks as any killer?

That would be a start, Im rank1 as Killer, usually play Myers or Jigsaw, the other day I played one game with Nurse (I have 6 games in total with her) to test the MMR, I got 3 rank 20 that had only one perk.

I stomped them (I let them escape at the end) even with Bamboozle no-blink Nurse I would have beaten them easily, one had like 20 minutes of total gameplay.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/181303/why-did-you-guys-change-the-heat-mechanic

Dashing around the map forever was never the problem. The problem was always that he could use it both to travel insane distances in a matter of seconds and THEN spam it in chase, even if he missed 3 or 4 times, he could just rev it up and try, try again.

As far as the survivor things you complained about... what? lol flashlights literally last 8 seconds or less (depending on add ons), gen tapping because useless when Hex Ruin got changed, pallets can be broken by the killer, none of these things you mentioned count as abuse of any game mechanic

Add to that he could easily catch up to you after a pallet stun.

Get to the loop, loop him, throw pallet get a stun (or not but he has to break if its safe anyway) you start running to get some distance, he uses chainsaw dash to catch up with you immediately, if the next loop was close you have a chance, if not you are dead because he canceled the chainsaw, ran just behind you and instadowned you.

  • It depends on certain parameters.

In terms of raw power I would say Nurse, as a god Nurse has literally almost no counters except stealth, I find her somewhat balanced in the sense that god Nurses are super rare and require tons and tons of hours.

In terms of low skill/high reward I would say Freddy, super easy to play and super easy to get Kills, imo is the Premium DLC.

Overall and my definite answer as most unbalanced Killer I would go with Spirit, easy enough to play, has very few counters, small TR, good stealth and huge mobility, can proxy camp easily, can fake her power with very little counter from the Survivor and on top of that Stridor negates the only decent counter Survivors have.

As a bonus I believe the most unbalanced Killers from the bottom are Plague or Deathslinger, Deathslinger is weird in the sense his chase potential is INSANE but thats it, its like old Legion but worse, whoever gets found first is downed and there is nothing you can do about it but unlike old Legion he has 0 mobility and while a good DS has a guaranteed down he cant end chases as fast as old Legion, (shooting, reeling, hitting, reloading does take time) so he cant patrol gens, in the end he gets rushed while some poor chump gets stomped.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/180989/gen-tapping

What they should do is making kicking a gen do a "mini-PGTW" then nerf PGTW to compensate. For example kicking by default just regresses a gen by 5%, PGTW gets nerfed to be 20%, so it becomes 25% again. Then if someone taps a gen, you can just kick it again and you just regressed it by 10% for free.

That would be way too strong, especially on 3 and 4 gen situations.

I wouldnt mind a base kit Pop, every killer gets a 5% regression after hooking someone and then adjust Pop to maintain its value.

  • A whole minute of being blinded is either the blinded forever bug or an exaggeration.

Even if they all brought purple flashlights with both bateries and blinded you for that amount of time first, you can look up to avoid the blinding, also if 4 guys are blinding you for 1 minute is annoying sure, but they are not working on gens or doing nothing of worth so its not that big of a deal.

  • People who camp without a reason do it for the sake of it.

    Trolling is its own reward.

  • Because pain and pleasure neurochemical pathways are the same.

  • For gen taping and disappearing Urban Evasion works very well, I use it a lot.

  • You can learn the basics faster by watching videos, like what are Dull Totems and why are they important, how to fast vault properly, how to hide, what are safe and unsafe pallets etc.

To learn advanced things is better to learn by yourself, many times Ive seen inexperienced players trying to pull advanced stuff only to fail big time, like messing body blocks, trying to mindgame super safe pallets, playing super risky or super aggresive etc, advanced stuff is better if it comes naturally by putting hours.

  • I believe its a sacrifice for the community, seeing how many "nerf this, nerf that, Killer feels miserable, Survivor miserable" threads we have they decided to put all the new players against the sweatballs so they can assert dominance and appease their sense of entitlement.

  • I noticed lately I dont know if its just RNG or a bug in the algorithm, Ive been getting Blood Lodge, Azarov's and Sanctum of Wrath A LOT lately.

Im not a big fan of youtubers but there is this guy who said in a video "this is a game and the other side needs to have fun too" and he is damn right, also if your idea of fun is stomping and getting 4k always or escaping always after looping for 5 gens Im sorry, but its your idea of fun whats wrong, not the game itself.

The problem is Myers comes from a film, he has his own weird way of walking and they should leave as close as possible to the source material, the new animation has too much gesticulation.

  • I believe there isnt as my personal experience with Killers I rarely play (or not play at all, yesterday I tried a game with Nurse, a Killer I may have played like 10 times in a game where I have ~1000 hours) and I got paired against Survivors with less than 3 hours in the game judging by their Steam profile, the poor guys got stomped, similar experiences with Hag (which I bought for this Rift) and Spirit which I only played for her Rift.

With a baseline MMR I wouldnt be paired with people that fresh.

  • While the idea is good they will never implement an Iridiscent to Auric exchange as Auric cells are the equivalent to money.

There is also a possibility for Michael Myers being changed, but that would be a very slight change most likely, since he has one too many Uncommon addons.

Personally, I'd be fine with them straight up removing the Glass Fragment. Only works at Tier 1 and isn't that good.

Yeah glass fragment is very outdated, from the older days where you could downrank from EW2 to EW1, with that in mind the addon is not that bad but right now is pretty much useless.
