Is that still going? I thought it was only until June 7.

The curated map thing was before the event, so its just a bad run of RNG. Seems to be happening more than usual though. Most nights its like 2 maps show up n thats all i get.
I think the voting stuff was for the event because it also decided which kind of rewards for logging every day during the event we were going to get.
Also I just keep getting the same maps over and over and coincidentally those were the ones on the polls.

Damn really? I didn't know about that. I'm sorry but I agree with you... that's just terrible. I hate both of those maps... but considering that I like the RPD (as a Killer and Survivor), I guarantee that the people that like Autohaven and Swamp are the same people that hate maps like RPD.
There wasnt much to choose from, maps where divided on groups of 8 and you had to choose 2 of each group of something like that, if I remember it well a good chunk of maps werent even there.

The worst most useless perks are probably going to be reworked, for example how do you make Sole Survivor, Deja Vu, Coulrophobia or Monstrous Shrine decent without reworking them? tampering with the numbers wont do, sure you could make Coulrophobia slow healing by 100% and still would be awful, Sole Survivor giving wide map aura inmunity? still trash.
Others will get tweaked, for example Lightweight and Overcharge (decent effects but weak to be good) and others will get CDs or timers, wouldnt be surprised a CD on Tinkerer and timer on Iron Will.
-
Its part of the event, they made a survey where people voted for their favorite maps and increased the winners rate of being selected for the duration of the anniversary.
Awful idea.
-
Maybe its getting a CD or an amount of seconds of use before going into CD, like you have 10 seconds of Spine Chill, once they are used you have to wait 30 seconds for it to be active again.

I mean it is, unless you have another term for an 'indirect but de facto nerf'.
It's much along the same lines as things like larger maps being a shadow nerf to M1 killers, or lighter maps being a shadow nerf to Trapper, etc.
Shadow nerf is a nerf that doesnt appear on the patch notes nor the PTR, for example "after the patch Sprint Burst gives you 80/70/60 Exhaustion and in the notes doesnt say anything and in the PTR was 60/50/40".
What they did to Resurgence is an indirect nerf, when you buff or nerf something and said change affects another thing because its linked, they didnt touch Resurgence but the change to the status effect made it indirectly much worse.

The problem with autoban is that a massive portion of the playerbase overreact and call the most innocuous things "toxic".
For a majority of survivors mains, any form of camping or tunnelling, or even gameplay that isn't in any way camping or tunnelling, is camping and tunnelling and therefore harassment and griefing. Anyone playing Wraith, Hag, Spirit or Dredge is bound to be autobanned after a wave of 'griefing' reports are filed for them simply using their powers.
For some killers, simply teabagging is blasphemy and harassment, and using flashlights is griefing.
There are cases where any of these things can be used to grief, but it's not the majority of cases.
The comunity will abuse the system 100% guaranteed, with those systems a ban its not a matter of why? its a matter of when?, I have a coworker who plays LoL, he reports all his teammates before the game starts "just to be sure" and then when it ends he reports them again if he deems they did something reportable which is entirely subjective.
And not even overreactions to toxic, people will report literally for anything out of spite "you didnt save me against a camping Leatherface?" report, "you flashlight saved your teammate and I lost a hook?" report, you are using [insert perk]? report.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/329043/players-driven-ban-is-obviously-a-bad-idea
Firstly, why be nasty to people? Especially when you know that they are outmatched?
Like...would you like to be on the other end of this, and do you think that's healthy for the state of the game, at a time when a lot of newer people are going to be playing?
Secondly, who suggested a player based auto-ban? I don't think I've ever seen this even asked for?
Thirdly...if you're going to go out of your way to be nasty to people, at least bring a damn flan.
A player driven autoban system was in talks around 2 years ago, it got frozen because the comunity backlash was colossal, with a reason several games have shown player driven autobans are a massive blunder and abused nonstop.
Thing is BHVR has been trying to curb toxicity as of late, last surveys had a clear "what do you consider toxic and how does it affect your appeal to keep playing" theme on a lot of questions, they put EGC to force Survivors to get out and end Hatch standoff, implemented a chat filter, removed Leatherface masks and some other measures also not yet implemented are a way to get rid of camping and the last person get automoried to avoid 4 minute bleedouts, obviusly what they already put didnt do much and some people (myself included) believe if the next measures dont curb toxicity the next step will be an autoban system which would be a debacle, seeing how well the autofilter works.

Im surprised they didnt change Autodidact mainly because seeing some of the perks they are tweaking and changes like Hemorrhage regressing heal one can imagine they are going to do something related to healing and Autodidact being one of the most interesting healing perks mechanical wise speaking could use some changes in the way it gets tokens.
Overwhelming Pressence mainly because its utter garbage, one of the worst perks in the whole game, especially after the toolbox charge nerf.
-
I dont get tilted by it either but I believe the reason a lot of people do its because someone loooooong ago decided doing crouching motions over the corpse of other players after killing them was a way of asserting dominance and it catched on.
First time I remember seeing that was in Counter Strike Beta 5.0 so more than 20 years ago, I dont recall seeing it in Quake 2 nor Quake 1, and you couldnt crouch in Doom 1 or 2, I believe it may have started with Counter Strike.
-
If you are in a loop and it places the renmant you have to leave, it moves much slower so unless you are out of position or in a massive deadzone you will reach another tile also if its chasing you and suddenly the heartbeat stops its an indicator it has started a teleport towards a locker, get away from any you can see, Ive found the safest route is to go the direction it was chasing you, usually it will teleport to a place near your position where it thinks you will be if you kept running that way but usually out of sight (behind a wall for example) so it will be confused, you may even juke it entirely.
And stand away from the basement, if you get hooked there the only way you are getting out is if you get unhooked while its carrying someone else or it actually lets you get out because the player decided not to tunnel by teleporting to one of the lockers on shack or near the basement (almost all basements have lockers nearby, even the main building basements).
-
I dont think Corrupt and DS are going to be basekit, for DS I believe theyll do something for camping and then change the perk somehow and Corrupt base is ok for some Killers but then you have Nurse, Blight and Spirit with base Corrupt which is insane because they can patrol the 4 unblocked gens on a breeze, unles the base form is something like 10-20 seconds it would break those 3 even more.

Probably because they want more killer players or smth
There has been queues on Killer role for a few months in Europe from 12 AM to ~21:00 and they got longer after the event, its not the reason.
As someone already said, its to stop people getting the invitation and then suiciding on hook.

Why do people think that "hold W to win" is a thing? When I try to hold W as a survivor, it usually just gets me killed.
All of that is far preferable to the current state of affairs. I actually think we'll see more Lithe and Balanced Landing than Sprint Burst since they don't require you to tiptoe across the map half the game, but that's fine since they're also not an on-demand third health state that constantly guarantee escapes all game.
As someone who plays M1 killers almost exclusively, I can't wait. I defended Dead Hard until it became impossible to defend.
I play a lot of Sadako, and I guarantee you she'll be much happier without Dead Hard. I play Freddy occasionally, and I hardly think that he'll suffer much, either.
Because a streamer did a "hold W is actually strong" video where he did a very cooked test where holding W gave the Survivor quite a lot of time.

Eh, the other exhaustion perks are still useful against Nurses. Blight is going to be a much bigger issue on that front.
I use Sprint Burst, it does nothing against a good Nurse, if you run away she cuts the distance with 2 long blinks, if you wait it to force a M1 whiff for a measly 1 second longer stun it does nothing because she will be at 2 blinks distance after she recovers.
-
What if the community event is the facecamping we suffered along the way?
-
Yep, I dont think they are going to get done, 40 per person only its way too many players for such numbers, oh well its just cosmetics so its not that much of a loss.
-
If you make bleeding out go faster it will become the prefered option for Killers, why hook someone for 2 minutes when I can bleed them for 1?.
To avoid mass bleedouts there has to be a system where doing it punishes the Killer in a meaningful way, not only points, Im not talking about the situation where someone gets downed and the other 3 prance around trying to flashlight and they all end up in the ground, Im talking about 4 people downed, the Killer can hook them and he refuses because reasons until the timer runs out.
@Akumakaji said:
Another solution: don't be a d*ck to the killer. I have actually never been slugged for playing normal, but seen it a few times done when spectating. Most of the times they were really good, but also BMing the killer at every opportunity. Not saying that there aren't any really mean spirited killers out there, but I would recon that most normal games a killer wouldn't waste their own time just to ruin some random strangers gaming experience? At least not enough that it would be a real problem.
Dont apologize stuff like 4 people bleeding out for 4 minutes with hooks around because 99,9% of the times there is no valid reason to do it except "I want to be a [Insert bad word here]", bad mannering doesnt excuse bad mannering back, thats how toxicity in this game reached the point it has reached, we are at a point where the developers have to take measures to curb it like the new "last guy gets automoried" feature and if it doesnt tone down the next stop will be an autoban system, which works wonders as LoL and WoW have shown us...
-
Auto Dead Hard is a thing altough I havent encountered it THAT many times, maybe you are unlucky and faced a lot of cheaters in a row or you faced some cheaters with very good players in between and makes it look like the auto users are higher than they are.

One thing is playing properly like those Survivors did or Killer trying to get the 4K and another thing is DCing/suiciding on first hook and camping/tunneling, normal gameplay is to be expected.

That's...a little paranoid. Plus, even if that were the case - you'd still have gotten plenty of BP from them playing for fun :).
I agree on the BP part but one thing everyone hates is being made fools or the butt of someones joke. I like when I get plenty of BPs even if I end up dead but getting plenty of BPs and then feeling like someone played me like a fiddle... not so much, thats what happens with "le honest AFK daddy Myers... with Tombstone+Tuft" and "le funny farming memeing Wraith... with NOED+Blood Warden+No Way Out+Remember Me" builds.
Imagine you get out of your home to do groceries, some edgy super original youtuber tosses a cream pie at your face and then gives you a 20€ bill, says its a joke and its ok we are all friends here, I wouldnt like it very much, even if he handled me a 50€ bill, he can stick it in a place I wont say because I risk a ban.

I hope DBD Devs choose to make them expire so that people will stop being annoying about it.
The community hasnt earned a single cake/flan/BPS from me, I refuse to burn them only for people to camp, tunnel, DC and suicide on first hook which is what a lot of people decide to do during events.
That being said, if people burn them I wont do any of that, normal gameplay so they can earn their extra BPs.

There's a difference between playing a bad killer and losing, and sitting AFK for 8 hours, game after game. In scenario A. the other side can at least pip and get BP, and...actually play the game, and in scenario B. the other side are basically having their time wasted.
It all depends because for example I despise Wraith, never use him unless for certain challenges that require gamethrowing so my MMR with him is rock bottom, literally rock bottom, most times I do the challenge and then go AFK or smash some breakable walls if the maps have them. Because of this I face Survivors with hours on the game, that being said if I have to play him for wathever reason (challenges/rituals) I hold back inmensely because I dont want to terrorize 4 people who just bought the game.
Should I be banned? I tanked my MMR deliberately (to an extent) and Im playing against people way below my skill but how do you judge if Im abusing the MMR or just dealing with poor gameplay designs like certain challenges requiring literally to throw and I dont want to tank my MMR on Killers I actually enjoy, its only wrong if you dont hold back? how do we judge this?.
Smurfing is a problem and it doesnt have an easy solution to it, banning people or issuing reprimands shouldnt be done on a general basis and reserved only to most extreme and obvious cases.

If this perks is like a global effect (aka you don't have to work with that Survivor together in order to this perk work, so anyone at anytime could fail with no punishmenet), then I don't like this. This would make gens even bit faster GLOBALY and 0 punishement for fail skilchecks for ANYONE at all time because 10+ tokens is super generous. Don't like this.
If this perks only works if you work with someone, then it would be nice small buff but that perk it would still be bad.
10 great skillchecks are the equivalent of 8 seconds, which is negligible for a perk, gens wouldnt fly unless you manage to score great after great to replenish them which can be done but not everyone manages that, there is a reason why nobody uses Stake Out or Fast Track even when they are very similar to what OP proposed.
That being said I believe the great skillcheck part shouldnt be added, this perk should stay as training wheels for newbies when they play with a friend, the global proposed change is a good idea and maybe a few more tokens.

Wait people didn't know this??? I remember playing in a duo with my bf when Nemesis released using Any Means/Head On and flashlights, calling ourselves the Zombie Hunters, and we'd just ######### around killing zombies. I thought it was common knowledge
It doesnt even appear on the wiki so I think very few people know it.
-
I believe this is a Microsoft and Sony problem more than technical problem.
On a sidenote, BHVR is not as big as you may think, its not a small company but its not a powerhouse in the videogame world like Rockstar, EA or Activision-Blizzard and even those cant force Microsoft and Sony to bend the knee.
-
Yes, some maps are Survivor friendly but, and this is a bit of whattaboutism, some other maps are Killer friendly like Midwich, Shelter Woods, Sanctum, Azarovs, Suffocation and some others.
Also there are certain maps which are extremely Killer specific friendly, you get Mother's Dwelling as Hillbilly and you hit the jackpot, you get it as Myers and you are in for a world of pain while if you get Lery's as Hillbilly you are going to suffer but get it as Myers and you have half the match in the bag.
-
You can destroy Nemesis zombies with Head On.

I will never understand to be honest. Once I realized that BP offerings don't only turn a great BP game into a fantastic BP game, but they also turn a meh (think like 10-14k) BP game into a decent or better BP game depending on the amount of them, I no longer really cared about maximizing points while using such offerings. No matter what, I'm getting at least double BP gain efficiency, while some weirdomax people go out of their way to play more "anti-BP gain" the more cakes they see the majority of the time the match would've gone the same way no matter if there's 0 cakes or 5 cakes anyway, with the exception of a lot of cakes increasing the odds of straight up farming being initiated.
The way I see it its not about my BP gains which for me mean little, I have the characters I want maxed out right now Im putting BPs on Killers I unlocked with shards because they were laying around and I didnt have their useless perks, its about not giving a BP increase to someone who will behave like a [insert bad word here] out of spite because thats how most games go during events, especially when they see BPS or cakes.
I would burn every single aniversary BP offering if it only affected my side, either as Killer or Survivor but burning a 106% BP increase only for some chumps to suicide on first hook or DC to screw the offering or some animal to facecamp because "lol they wasted their offerings while Ill benefit from them tee-hee"... nah, as I said, Id rather destroy them than giving trolls bigger reasons to troll.
Burned once, twice shy.
-
This was especially infuriating when Moris were available after first hook, it was one of the main reasons I stopped burning BPS and anniversary cakes as Survivor.
-
Yes, its more common for Survivors because Killers can snowball harder but it can happen to both, usually one bad bodyblock at a hook or 2 people getting downed at the same time is a game breaker.
-
Id rather throw my cakes to the pigs than using one and getting a facecamper or suiciders on first hook, no thanks.

Fixing various speedhacks, flying, etc. could be done, but the way DBD is implemented, it is always going to be just patching holes. They would need to have an instance of the game running on the server and use that as the source of truth for player locations, player state, etc.
Even huge companies with inmense human and monetary resources like Activision-Blizzard, EA or Rockstar have huge problems with cheaters, some of them far worse than DBD and they have the same problem, they get rid of one another appears 1 week later and they are at square 1 again, its the way it is.
-
Fixing hackers is like chasing the horizon, you get rid of one hack program and the coders start working into the next one, its a never ending cycle and you can only minimize the problem, never get rid of it.
Obviusly there are times where they are more abundant because the tool to detect and ban the new hack is still on development then it gets implemented, almost everyone gets banned and they become scarce, then the cycle starts a new, cheaters on games are inherent to it, its a sad reality.
Also anytime the game goes free to play for a weekend or free on a platform expect a massive influx of cheaters, the last mass influx was when Epic Games Store made it free to get.

Neither do I but there are plenty around here that do. You look in the killer's direction the wrong way and they claim it's justification to make the game as miserable as possible for all involved.
I faced one Nemesis twice who had a name something like "This perk and that perk = tunnel and face camp" first game was going normally, he had 3 hooks, then suddenly someone used that perk and then it became a facecamp and tunnel fest, second game was a few days later and the same, the game was a normal one and then someone used this perk and the same attitude, he didnt even camp the person who used this perk and he knew it, for some reason it clicked it was the same dork so I pushed the gens ignoring the camp and we managed a 3 escape.
I was baffled at his pettiness especially since we cant even see his name and his supposed rule... like how do you expect us to know the childswitch is those 2 perks? we cant see your name, some people just love to be cringy I guess...
And there was this other time where I got facecamped because I juked the Killer on every chase and the reason was "I facecamp cowards like you who just want to escape chases instead of prolonging them".

Interesting to hear but doesn't sound any less fun that being camped on hook during end game because there's literally zero objectives for the killer, sounds like both are a huge waste of everyones time, at least with the kobe you get a CHANCE at making it to the gate which would be pretty reasonable paired with ds depending on distance.
The key point to take away is that they removed choice which is always a terrible implementation.
But right now if you are the last one you dont get camped, once you get hooked you get instakilled, which takes seconds.
In any case the amount of cases where you get hooked with noone else on the trial with DS unused where you actually get to kobe (4% chance on 3 attempts) where you are close enough to a door to be able to crawl before DS goes off are so small its not worth the insane amount of cases where people will drag a match, general situations take preference over fringe ones.

This is not the first post where a Killer slugged Survivors to death for no reason. But all the time people are making up reasons.
No Hooks? Might be possible, but for 3 Survivors? Eh, doubt it.
Unhooks/Deliverance? Wait in front of the Hook and slug them (and nobody can tell me that this would be a problem).
And I am surprised that it did not come up yet: "You dont know what the Survivors were doing, maybe they were toxic!!111"....
Sometimes players just do it to be annoying. No other reason.
The things Ive seen people defending on Reddit, generals, Steam and this forum... I believe its the worst aspect of this comunity.
-
Nah its Cybil, she sounds as if the audio was taken out of an adult movie, its really awkward.
-
There was a time where being the last one didnt sacrifice you instantly, giving you your 3 kobe chances and struggle stage, what happened almost always was the guy who actually kobed was downed again and then slugged for 1 minute, then hooked and usually out of spite he dragged 1 minute more during struggle stage.
It was super engaging® and fun™.
-
Movement speed is a stat that can break the game very easily, it shouldnt be touched, having a few perks with harsh activation conditions is ok but changing it on a base level? thats too much. As Kaitsja said, the problem with low mobility Killers isnt their speed but the size of certain maps and their gen spawns like Mother's Dwelling or Disturbed Ward.
Why do you think subtle hackers almost universally tamper their movement speeds? because an extra 5% its so damn strong that can turn the tide of a game easily for both sides.
There are certain stats that are better left untouched because how ingrained they are at the core mechanics and how much the rest of the balance depends on said stats being an unchanged constant.

I'm not saying I'm surprised everyone runs BBQ - everyone does run BBQ. But new players don't have it available and I thought that would skew the pick rates, considering how heavily you can see the influence of new players everywhere else in the stats. For BBQ to be at the top despite being DLC illustrates how absolutely dominant it is as a pick (and of course, we all know why that is.)
I think its more like Ruin has fallen to second place than BBQ overtaking it, Ive seen a lot less Ruins lately because it has awful synergy with Pain Resonance+Dead Man Switch, while BBQ is the only BP perk Ruin has other alternatives that can displace it.
And as you suggest, BBQ being there is a clear indicator the grind is disgusting because outside of the extra BPs the aura reveal is not that great for most of the cast.

I’ll say this. When playing killer with 1 survivor left, there’s a big difference between carrying them to the hatch vs. them walking to it themselves.
When you carry them, you’re saying “I won, you know I won, but I’ll be merciful.”
When they walk to it, even if you led them there, the message gets muddied a bit and they may get it in their heads that they somehow won out.
Overall I like the addition of the auto-mori - cuz let’s be honest, the animations are awesome and need more screentime in a non-toxic manner! Still, I’m not thrilled of the only option being to either let the survivor find and take hatch themselves or brutally end their game.
You can always hit them, go after them and once in range for the killing blow just go away or follow them around or find hatch, stand there and then when you see them nod and go away if you really have the need to assert dominance.
