  • Well friend. Let me walk you through the day of a doctor main.

He's sitting down in his chair, ready to play some dead by daylight. Probably just finished watching three hours of stand up comedy. He sees the doctor, hears that loving laugh, and gets into queue.

That didn't take long, which is a shame because he was trying out so many of the doctor's cosmetics! Today he's wearing a suit, using a baseball bat and has absolutely no skin on his head this time. Because Doctor.

Now, where to find the survivors? Doctor doesn't need any game sense. He just pulses his magic circle and he's found someone!

Hooray! Now to begin the chase!

The survivor wants to throw down pallets and vault windows, but you're a doctor main. You know when to perfectly time your shocks. Sometimes Tier 3 Madness blocks the survivor for you! You never have to deal with pallet drops or loops or anything. The only skill you need is timing your shock correctly.

Wow, that was fun! No loops, always know where survivors are. Just press M2 at the right time and it's practically a single player game!

...through every laugh you realize the cold, hard reality. Every match is exactly the same. There's no PvP. You realize why nobody really plays Hag either, despite Hag and Doctor both being strong killers. Once you learn to time your shocks correctly, you realize there is no game. No counterplay, but now you're stuck.

You never learned how to find survivors and you never learned how to deal with loops. Your power did that for you. You can't play any other killer, or really even play Dead by Daylight at all. You're stuck playing Doctor, forever.

At least his laugh is good right?

  • Changing Doctor's power to something more insanity related.

Oh great he made a circle and knows where I am. Better vault a - wait I can't do that either. What a great killer.

  • The box says Silent Hill but those eyes say Raccoon City.

  • I use the World War II dress from the charity case DLC and the bone cutter with the rose on it. I swap the head around. Sometimes I use a gas mask and others I use the one that gives her a red smile. No particular reason. I just like it.

  • If Technician is anything to go off they'll remove the exhaustion effect and make the survivor moan the entire time they're on a generator.

  • People expect more out of killers nowadays and there's more options. Back in yonder day an infinite was solved by bear trapping the window, blocking it with invis wraith, zooming around as Hillbilly or blinking over it as nurse. A lot of killers just don't have that kind of area denial so infinites had to go. Then windows blocked by the Entity etc.

I do wonder sometimes how I did as well as I did back then. It's easier now but at the same time it's not for both sides.

  • They're not annoying friend. They give me a chuckle when I open the threads.

Dunno how pig got an investment though. Her traps only work when a gen is done, unless it's the last one.

McMillan grade bear traps would be better imo.

  • What else am I supposed to do with my life?

  • Look straight down at your feet to blink in place as they run towards you, then bap them for playing like I do.

    That'll teach'em.

  • Survivors can still use vaults and pallets. We should really scrap that.

What if Felix pregnant girlfriend was brought in? Like how Steve and Nancy are together?

It'd be a waste. The whole Felix vs Talbot chapter is about ambition getting the better of you. You'd probably be looking at something like lust vs love. A succubus killer vs. a housewife tbh.

  • If you're enjoying Pig, by all means have a blast. She's a fun killer to play.

...but if I run by you injured on accident with an active trap, just slug me. Don't hook and then proxy camp. That is the biggest salt generator ever and I know you don't realize it but I destroy the entire planet and jump timelines each time it happens. So be aware.

  • I've tried the offerings, they're not even guaranteed to work. I had a hatch offering spawn the hatch by the exit gate instead.

    It's a placebo pill.

  • Lel. To be blunt about my opinion first so you understand where I stand:

This game is about serial killers brutally killing/sacrificing innocent people to a spider god over and over. It's about as high tier violent as you can get and on the same level of violence as Team Fortress 2 if you think about the gore factor.

However this is like, the cuddliest community always getting upset over bad words and people being toxic. They don't want *huntress slams her axe into a survivors skull* anyone to be mean or see anyone get hurt.

Okay with that out of the way...

I think a preggy survivor skin could work but it would have major game implications on how survivors interact with each other in the fog. iirc a long time ago in a Q&A it was actually asked about a baby in the game and they said it would die. A lot. Obviously a lot of countries don't like seeing kids killed in video games so you get weird things like the immortal children of Skyrim etc.

Women don't show for a few months so how do you not know all the survivors are already pregnant? How do you not know the Huntress isn't pregnant, singing her lullaby to her unborn child? It's your game, imagine it how you want to.

I'd be okay with it if the game had a reason for it. Like the character has a solid background and just happens to be in her 4th month.

Definitely not on the top of the agenda by any means, but if they did add a carrying survivor I'd probably just shrug and hope she has good cosmetics. Same as I do with every character really.

  • Death is not an escape in this community.

    The sacrifices will continue.

  • Hey, once you hit P3 you never have to worry about it again. It's never there to tempt you in the back of your mind. "Don't push the button", you say to yourself, forever tempted.

    But the reality is...

you want to press the button.

  • Should survivors even be allowed to run perks? They're just sacrifices for the Entity, I mean come on. Aren't cosmetics enough?

  • I'm at a little over 1k hours so that's like 250 hours a year. Lobby times have gotten much, much better for red rank killers lately but I spent a lot of that time in lobbys too. So. Yeah.

  • These are some old polls but this is what I could find.

    https://www.strawpoll.me/16257582/r (Survivor)

    https://www.strawpoll.me/16257592/r (Killer)

Obviously people more active in the community are more likely to be higher rank because of the investment they have. I'm no exception and consistently hit red ranks on both sides.

  • All the time. When I'm running my heal-heavy tank build if the runner is injured I try to draw agro so the runner can go heal, but if the killer baps me and lets me run off instead I patch myself up very quickly with my build and go in to take another hit...and another...and another...

Sometimes I spice this up by using Mett...no I never do that. I use Head on and bap the killer as he runs the loop with the runner.

To me it's just tactics, but I imagine I'm very very irritating to tunnelers.

  • It's rare I play Trapper without ultra rare add ons+bag (he's my P3 bloodpoint dump - I can afford to do that) but you really don't have a reason to play with anything less. Trapper needs something else. I don't know what, but he needs something. Window traps. Pallet traps. Something. Land mines are great but he's the face of the game. Make him shine.

  • If it makes you feel any better Perm T3 or Tombstone Myers aren't the easiest things to get set up. He's a team effort counter, but of course in this game you don't get to choose who your team is.

  • I have an opinion on this topic...wait never mind I'm bored.

    steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net.jpg

    Abandoned +600

  • As long as I'm not trying to do a specific mission and am only there to gather bloodpoints solo survivor is fine.

Once I run a green or higher item or I have something specific to do, my blood pressure gets to me. This game just does not cooperate.

  • Oh god. When I was a baby Dwight - and this'll surprise you I know - I used to hide in a locker at the start of the match until someone got injured so I could make sure I wouldn't be the first person in chase. I was too scared and didn't wanna go down instantly.

When I was a new killer I would just follow survivors until I got close enough to hit them (ie I wouldn't cut them off or mindgame)

You vaulted a window? I'll vault it too. You dropped a pallet? Cool, let me break it so you can continue leading me to the magical places this map holds. Did I get too close? Here let me press M1 to give you a speed boost to continue our tour.

Heck I didn't know the maps. Might as well make survivors useful as a tour guide.

Never hook camped though. That's so boring. (I did like NOED though for a long time. Then I got good enough to the point the gates wouldn't open frequently enough to justify it.)

  • Feels good man.png

    You mean great feature.

It's an abrupt reminder that this is not a competitive game and try hards gonna die hard.

Edited in picture of my own shenanigans

  • Plague is tactical. If you can tell the person is a good looper just launch goo at them until their bottom left icon says they're infected. They'll cleanse quickly and open up another corrupt pool for you. If you see a corrupt pool as you're walking by, consume it.

If you can get right up on a survivor that's not in a strong position, puke on them until you break them, then go for a down.

Other than that she's a normal M1 killer. If you're in corrupt phase, then use your M2 to spray people. As you get better you'll get more lethal with it. In your normal phase just puke on generators as you pass by them and tag survivors with sickness. If you can avoid it in a chase break them before you hit them. You can deny the sprint burst from just hitting them.

  • Yeah but would you rather be learning a lethal killer like Nurse, Huntress or Blight or a killer that's quirky but not that strong? Still gonna recommend zoomie boi over zappy boi. I really don't think if you asked a survivor "Hey do you like playing against Doctor?" You'd find a yes.

  • I got Shelter Woods on accident. Make it higher plz.

So what you're saying is that you don't use them? What would be an example of your loadout?

I have all the perks etc unlocked on my main so I'm mainly just messing around. Right now it's Self Care/Botany/Desperate Measures/Soul Guard since hex totems are big right now.

My battle build is Borrowed Time/Dead Hard/Botany/Self Care when I'm playing serious though. Some solo survivors can do without the ability to heal themselves but if you face a stealth killer that can blow up in your face real quick. Camping is just what a lot of killers do and it can screw an emblem if someone gets downed off the hook, so you must take borrowed time, and Dead Hard can really extend a chase.

  • I'm solo, and you generally want builds that help you solo because you have zero idea what kind of situation you're going into. Aura perks tell you what's going on, but do not help your ability to do something about it.

Both are really fun. Doc is easier to learn; you'll get good results with him sooner.

Don't recommend Doctor to people, he builds bad habits and doesn't teach you how to find survivors and his gimmick is really hard to land for newbies. You're setting him up for failure. (Not to mention nobody likes Doctor.)

    Play Blight new bro.

  • I've had a good few. Last fun game I had I was running around as the Plague, and David offered me his medkit in an attempt to parley. I refused and hooked him.

Later in the match two of their team are sacrificed and I see David again, and he again instead of being a normal survivor and do normal survivor chases he pleads for mercy.

I proceed to puke on him for the next three minutes. Fully amused by this, I decided to let him and the sneaky other survivor do gens under my supervision. Maybe David wears green because he wants to get in touch with my inner digestive juices. Maybe he knew.

  • Survivormain.png

I-I'm not a killer main...see, Dwight is my profile picture! I like to do generators and the vaulting thing! I even break...I mean throw pallets!

But that exit gate sure is cool huh?

  • Trying to make this game do what I want it to. Okay I want to do this during this specific round.

It just leads to frustration. I can do everything I want and more when I'm not trying but when I sit down and try to force it, it always just ends up irritating the piss out of me.

  • I'm on PC and rubber banding a little today. It's let a lot more survivors live than should have. The servers have thrown some of my games which doesn't put me in a great mood.

  • There are some games at high ranks where you just can't win as killer (unless you're omniscient, which nobody is). It happens to the best.

I wouldn't recommend avoiding SWF, just note that they'll call out if you're camping and gen rush you, but otherwise they will try to save their friends.

Normally I'm barely paying attention. If they all leave before I can sacrifice, well, that's their loss.

  • It used to be. Usually when a survivor chases a killer around your gen you have to abandon it. With the old gens you made zero noise with level 3 technician so as long as the killer didn't see you, there was very little way to even know you were repairing under his nose.

Right now as far as I can tell Technician is bugged out. They need to get a technician on technician.

  • Makes you feel better, but ultimately nothing.

Well, it's not always something in-game. Some days I'll be like 'hmm I kinda wanna play DBD' ... then I launch it, go back and fourth on whether I wanna play killer or survivor and if killer what killer/build I'm gonna play.

Then I just think... 'well actually... I don't really want to play DBD'. I think I ponder too much, start thinking of all the worst scenarios such as ebony mori's, iri head, swf clicky clicky squads and all the stress with it. Then I just quit and watch youtube/twitch!

    I'm a bit weird.

This. I'll load up the game, sit in the menus and maybe queue up, decide it's too close to bedtime or something else and log out without even playing a match. I'm very silly about it but unintentionally.

Life just gets too busy sometimes for hide and seek game

Ironically, after posting this I got my 3 Iridescent Devouts.

Yeah it's not as bad as it feels. Campy killer players aren't gonna have a good time though.

  • If only there was a way to reduce the four man team's numbers,

  • This game will not become more scary. I'm 100% certain it'll flanderize. That's not bad, but once you play the game for a while the scare factor dies. The only way to increase the scary is to make the maps themselves scary and the closest the game does to that right now is the Midwich locker. While fun, until walking into a piece of furniture causes plates to fall out of it and start smashing as they hit the floor or maguffins getting knocked loose from a powering generator I don't know what they could do.

I'm going to say 2 licensed killers and 2 original killers. The Licensed ones will be lukewarm, and the 2 original killers will be designed for the game and be nasty strong. At least, until the community learns the counters of course.

They tried pustula flowers for a while. I enjoyed that a lot. I don't think they'll make the killer killable in this game. As much as I would love to do so sometimes, it would be kind of out of place since it's the Entity using a lot of them as a puppet. Oh no you killed my puppet. Nah.

I like single player mode, like an expanded tutorial. The game's pretty big now and just having a peaceful place to learn your killer or master skill checks would be kinda nifty.

As for what I personally think will change...well. The maps. I have a lot of maps memorized (to a degree) so the map shake up has the potential to be pretty brutal.

  • Every time I use self care though my team gets mad at me.
