so The hit after the reel in doesn’t count as an obsession hit?

I think it does and you have to let the chain break. But I might be wrong.

  • There's a similar challenge in the current tome where you have to get a 4k by any means. One of my survivors bled out on the floor and I still got the challenge done.

  • I assume you're talking about the hot mess that was just deleted. 🤭

    Edit: and yes, thank you!

  • 'In before the flood of salt'. As in, they are expecting people will not agree with you.

  • Nobody is going to care about this but I feel the need to share my story on how I finished this challenge. I brought DS against a Trapper on Lampkin Lane. Played like an absolute muffin so I'd get tunneled in order to be able to use DS. Got tunneled, used DS and became the obsession. Fast forward to the end, I'm on death hook and only me and Meg are still alive, one gen to go. We finish the last gen while Trapper is walking towards us. Meg and I split up and he decides to go after me.

I go stand behind a bush and mentally give up. He lunges from behind the bush and whacks the bush with all his might. I think "oh, he missed!" and start running. He lunges at me at a pallet and misses. He lunges at me again and misses. I run inside a building near the exit gate and go upstairs. He lunges and misses. In the meantime, Meg had opened the exit gate. I vault the upstairs window towards the gate but don't have nearly enough distance to make it. Then, as I'm desperately running towards freedom, I hear a loud grunt behind me and realise the Trapper walked into his own trap. I escape.

This was the most insane way I ever completed a challenge.

I have a full time job where i have to work from home. I also have a young child who is going to school from home. Between all of that i work, i take care of my kid and spend time with my family, have time after my kid goes to bed to watch netflix or play a game or something with my wife and i still have a couple of hours every night. On top of that, i play other games as well, generally i dedicate an hour or so on average a night playing DBD.

If you can't find 7 hours a week to play, the battle pass is not made for you. Or, you can buy levels to keep up. That is your choice to make. The point i am making is that 7 hours a week is pretty fair, especially when you compare it to other games that expect you to play their game as a full time job in order to finish a battlepass.

Are you sure 1 hour a day is enough? I've really been going for this rift because I've never made it to tier 70 before, I've played 1-3 hours every day of the rift so far, and I'm at tier 43... And I have completed all but 4 challenges so far.

  • I agree with the message you're trying to convey but boy would this have been better with some paragraphs.

  • "At least they're rare", I say as I get a bloodweb with two ebony moris on it.

I think the most problem former Legion mains have with the Legion today is not the question if he is weak or not - as Legion main you are used to play a weaker killer anyways.

It is the question if you have fun, or not and to compare a default m1 killer with a adrenaline rushing killer Legion was before... There can the current version just lose.

It's like comparing a vw beetle with a ferrari. I bet the former ferrari driver will always think back on his ferarri, even if he is forced to drive a vw beetle, for whatever reason.

But what the topic matters - I had not try to say that the Legion is weak. Just a bit boring since the rework patch.

Ah, well, I started playing the game after Legion was changed to how they are now, so I have nothing to compare it to. For me, they feel great, but I understand that they probably felt even better to play before the change.

  • I don't really get why people say Legion is weak. I pretty much main them and do as well with them as I do with any other killer (I'm rank 2, playing against ranks 1-5). I think it's just about playing what you enjoy. If you play something 'weak' that you like, you're going to perform better than when you play something 'strong' that you really don't enjoy.

As for tips, don't try to swing too fast in Feral Frenzy. About 50% of the survivors I chase with Frenzy will try to 360 me as I try to lunge; let them do their juke first and then hit them. As I've read before, they also try to vault a pallet and immediately vault it again after you've vaulted it. Again, don't try to be too fast (but also not too slow because then they will successfully vault back). Usually, taking your time pays off.

If you stab a survivor with Frenzy and hear no one else, cancel it. If you stab a survivor with Frenzy and they start mending in the middle of nowhere, cancel it and down them.

As for my build, I use Surge, Thrilling, Pop and Tinkerer. It's been working wonders for me. At this point I feel like Surge, Thrilling and Pop are fixed slots in the build for me. I've been trying to combine it with different things, such as Enduring or Bamboozle (which are also great), but I've recently been having a lot of success with Tinkerer.

  • Confirming that it's definitely possible to escape. I held W and at some point I just broke through it and was able to leave.

  • Sometimes you have to use it to try and dodge a hit when the killer stands between you and the exit, and at those times it feels very frustrating to be exhausted on the floor. Other than that, yeah, try to use it for distance I guess.

  • I never saw him before the 'nerf', and I never see him now.

Well, I barely play survivor that much but I assumed holding m1 on gens and then escaping isn't the fun part of the game for the vast majority of people. I've never heard anyone say that they enjoy that more than the chase

Fine, then I'll say it. :p I enjoy the suspense of doing generators because the killer might show up at any time. I'm constantly looking around trying to see if he's coming or not. I also simply enjoy escaping because it makes me feel like I won, even if I didn't have to engage in a single chase all game.

  • I swear I'm going to eat my shoe the next time someone mentions Billy as the perfect standard for balance. I thought he was too strong before the nerf and he still destroys me equally hard after the nerf. I only play solo queue and as soon as one person goes down he just snowballs with BBQ and Infectious Fright and it might not be instantly gg but it quickly reaches a point where the only option is a one man hatch escape.

He's the only killer in the game that feels too strong to me. I personally feel like a killer should have a weakness, whereas Billy has it all. He moves extremely fast and if you make a single mistake, you're dead. In this case, Deathslinger's weakness is his mobility, and his strength lies in his chase. That seems more balanced to me.

  • Billy is not the golden standard of killer balance.

  • I helped two survivors out of there who were stuck at the same time, then went to the other side of the map to give them time to heal. I basically reset the game and then continued as normal. They thanked me afterwards, and I felt good about life for a moment.

  • I have been waiting for them to add a hot guy to this game and they finally did it.

  • @IMilkNobody said:

dbd is a 1v4 game you 4 are a team if a killer is camping do gens and the game will be over fast

Nobody seems to understand this. Whenever I am camped on hook, I see two or sometimes even all of my teammates just awkwardly standing around waiting for the killer to leave. Whenever a teammate of mine gets camped on hook they let themselves die because how dare we do gens instead of saving them. They don't seem to realise that the best thing to do is just wait it out. I know, it's boring for you, but it buys your team some time to actually do gens and have a chance. And last I checked it's still a team game...

  • Please for the love of god give us crossplay, we've been asking for it for so long. :(

Day two of crossplay: "Stop Cross Play"

  • Yeah people seem to forget that the in-game mechanics don't necessarily apply to this duel and that a harpoon to the face, with or without reeling, is still quite deadly. My money's on Caleb.

Well rank reset happened like 4 hours ago not many red ranks right now.

True, I hadn't thought of that. We'll see how it progresses.

  • I've played five games today as a rank 5 killer and all my games have been against rank 5-6 survivors. Not a single red rank.

  • @Deathslinger said:

I’m scared to play against pc 😱

Just sling some death and you should be ok.

  • My killer queues have also been instant! Don't know if it's related but I've also started getting completely destroyed by the survivors today. :^) But at least it's instant! I used to have to wait for at least five minutes each time.

  • I didn't understand what this was about at first but now I think I get it. Sadly, I'm far from having everything unlocked on the characters I like, so no reason for me to save up the bloodpoints... The grind is real yo. It probably doesn't help that I actively play both sides.

To go into even more detail..

There are 20 killers in the game. 2 of them aren't even human so they *do not* count (DemoPls and Pyramidhead), 1 of them we don't even know their race (Ghostface).

    The rest:

Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Nurse, Myers, Hag, Doctor, Huntress, Bubba, Freddy, Pig, Clown, Spirit, Legion, Plague, Oni, Deathslinger.

Out of those 17 killers, Wraith (Black), Hag (Black), Doctor (Black), Spirit (Asian), Legion (I believe Joe is black, and Susie is Asian..?), Plague (Egyptian) and Oni (Asian) are of color.

Again, basically half the cast of killers. Of course I'd welcome more, but knock that "this game isn't diverse" crap off. Actual virtue signalling. Literally half the entire cast, killer or survivor, is of another ethnicity.

This is a game developed by a diverse crew in one of the most diverse cities you'll ever visit. DBD has a LOT of issues. DIVERSITY IS CLEARLY NOT ONE OF THEM.

100% agree with you on this one.

DS is OP, though. It needs conditions, like both Pop and BBQ have. All it is now is 60 seconds of invincibility. What did the survivor do to earn it? Screw up by getting caught.

Pop has a condition - you have to chase, hit a survivor twice, pick them up and hook them to even use it; and survivors still have a counter to it in Repressed Alliance. Same with BBQ - except in addition to the aforementioned conditions, the killer also has to hope to god the survivors aren't doing one of the many counters to it's aura reading (which isn't even the main reason people use it).

When it comes to DS - it has a "counter". Slugging. Though, saying slugging is a counter to DS is like saying "don't get caught" is a counter to camping; but I'll humor you and say sure, the DS counter is slugging. But then Unbreakable exists. A counter to the killers counter. Both of which are high up in survivor meta.

But yes, a perk that has one counter, where that counter has it's own counter, isn't overpowered. You have no idea what balance is.

The counter to DS is slugging though. When I smack a survivor that has just been unhooked, I don't do it because I expect to immediately re-hook them. I do it for the extra pressure. I expect them to get back up. If they have Unbreakable, so be it, at least they've been down and useless for a moment while I go find someone else and they now have 3.5 perks instead of 4. If they need someone else to come pick them up, even better.

I don't use DS myself because it doesn't do anything in most of my games. I find that, against a killer who plays correctly, the only time you could use DS would be if you've been unhooked next to an opened exit gate and they have no choice but to pick you up. That situation just doesn't happen often enough for me to waste a perk slot on DS. I also don't know how often survivors escape on you like that for you to be so upset about it (in one of your later comments), but this has happened to me exactly once in the eight months I've been playing this game. I can live with that.

Finally, I'd like to add that providing logic and reasoning doesn't necessarily make someone right about something. You can't be objectively right about something subjective like 'is this perk combination too strong?'. You might say yes, and others might say no. Both parties would have their own logic and reasoning. Neither party would be objectively right.

  • I'm at 16 as well. Finished the current tome level in like 5 days and I can't really be bothered to play this game much without challenges. I've just been doing my daily game of killer and survivor for the daily xp bonus.

  • I think the limitation is there because you would be able to abuse potatoes without actually removing them from the game (you wouldn't even have to injure them) and use the stalk you got off them to take out the stronger players first.

  • I keep reading that Dead Hard has no activation requirement but you literally have to be injured. That's a requirement.

  • Assuming you're talking about a survivor tapping a gen mid chase and continuing to run, I'd say you probably knew that survivor was there and it was a waste of time to kick that gen in the first place.

If my ideas is is too much of a nerf for u two, then sure, I want both parties to have fun in this game, Killer right now is just Frustrating and stressfull

I won't disagree on that. It's why I tend to play only one game of killer per day for my daily bonus and then switch to solo survivor or play with my bro.

  • @Tuscan said:

When did i say that i wanna restrict people from playing with friends?

And when you say: "queue together by playing solo" Do you mean that they both press play solo at the same time and wait until they are in the same lobby?

And yes you CAN NERF SWF: If the game registers that two players are in the same lobby because they got invite etc then that is a clear indication that they are a SWF on comms

I always play this game with my brother and we have not once used comms because we feel like the game wasn't meant to be played like that. At most I will send him a Steam message telling him where the hatch is if I've seen it and I'm dead.

Are you going to nerf us too?

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

I'm still not sure if MMR is inconsistent or if all of the potatoes on the forum are surprised they're not as good as they think they are lol. I haven't played much killer with the new MMR, but with survivors my teammates have been consistently competent. That has never been the case before even at rank 1. I've been loving it.

I just played with a guy in my team that has 12 hours on DbD. I have 435 hours. I might not be "as good as I think I am" but I'd hope I'm better than a rank 17 with 12 hours into the game.

  • Yesterday I played on Midwich and heard a gen being done above me. While looking for (and not finding) a way up, the guy who was doing the gen actually jumped down and landed right next to me. He instantly disconnected. The game had literally just started...

  • @Roobnus said:

I also don't understand why people think it's hard to play Survivor. As long as you constantly do SOMETHING, you will most likely win.

The only problem are new players that hide in lockers on the opposite side of the map and as soon as they hear a heartbeat they panic and sprint away, waste all pallets when being chased ect.

That's my biggest annoyance now that I'm more often being teamed up with newer players. Newer players have so much downtime. I get hooked after a chase and their auras are revealed to me only to see that they're all kinda just standing there.

So yes OP, count yourself lucky when you get teammates that actually do something productive. :p

  • I do think we need some kind of penalty for disconnecting though. Even now, with the penalty, some people still disconnect when I play killer. I've had three people disconnect on me in the past week, which isn't much, but just imagine how much higher that number could be if there was no penalty.

And this is coming from someone whose internet sometimes decides it's time for a break, so I know the pain of being penalized for leaving against your will.

  • I just wish they had phrased it along the lines of "Be alive at the time a survivor escapes the trial 3 times". The word "survive" really threw me off, because it sounds like you have to escape as well. In reality, it's fine if you die. I helped two people escape but got caught right at the exit and died. Still got 2/3.

So on the flipside, someone who gets good at any killer, can now pick a new one to roflstomp new survivors with. Great.

I'd imagine if you roflstomp new survivors, your mmr for that killer will quickly go up, so you should only be able to do that a couple times. Which is still far better than the matchmaking we have now, I'd say.

  • Probably to make it a perk people would consider using. Even now, like you said, I still won't be using it.

The challenge's not as bad as it sounds. I managed to do it in 2 games at Rank 1.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DOY9CPN9VTYE/dbd-tome-4.jpg

How on earth did you complete all the challenges in one day? ._. I played all evening yesterday and only completed six of them...

  • The worst game in a while for me happened yesterday against a Freddy on Midwich. One person dead, only one gen left. I'm 75% through the last gen when Freddy finds me and eventually downs me. I get hooked and see no auras, which wasn't due to the new and 'improved' auras, they were literally just both in a locker. I get saved, go down again, get hooked and once again don't see them anywhere. I eventually died and decided to spectate them to see what on earth they were doing. That game went on for another ten minutes (TEN MINUTES) of them hiding in lockers until one of them finally died and the other one rushed for the hatch.

I'm okay with people playing the 'who dies first' game when there's still three gens left and no reasonable way of finishing them. However, I'm not okay with people hiding around when there's three people left in the game and only one gen left to go.

From what I understood you don't need a 4 man escape to do this challenge..you should be able to gain 1 point towards it each time a survivor leaves the trial before you die/escape, so you could do it even in 3 different trials I believe?

    Am I getting this wrong?

You're getting part of it wrong when you say "each time a survivor leaves the trial before you die/escape", because you yourself also have to escape in order to get credit.

  • @Seanzu said:

I think most people are misunderstanding, this isn't just in one trial, it's multiple trials, you could get it in one game, you could get it in multiple, this is so far from being a disgusting challenge, imagine just being in the exit gate and someone leaves before you, easy point towards the challenge, lol.

Ooh, I had no idea. I feel like this challenge could definitely be worded better, because my first impression was that I would need to do this in one trial. Yeah, that makes it a lot better.
