Tell that to all the people on console/with low end PCs who can't play the game because of the unbearable lag this update has brought, as if it wasn't bad enough.
Listen, I understand not every update and chapter is going to be perfect and I in no way support harassing the developers but you have to think, how did they screw up so bad?
Low-end PCs? Bestie I spent over 1.3 grand on this PC and it still stutters at this game.

Dang you were so close to being out!
By the way, most excellent rant! :)
Thank you I was very angry.
I have since installed a tower fan into the side of my pc. A barely noticable adjustment that has lead to me being .2° cooler and not helped the issues at all.
EDIT: After posting this I went and hoovered the floor because I couldn't see how bad it was without taking the picture lmao.
Yay, awful eyesight

Without ever intending to, it looks like they have finally shared the console experience with everyone.
Pull up a pew and I'll have someone take your drink order. Welcome brother!
Oh, I know the console experience. I played on Switch, a laptop that couldn't break 15fps and an old desktop that averaged 7.
I spent 1.3k to escape that hell. I know how awful it is.
And yet I am doomed to return

Frankly it has been for years now. Feels like the topic is only picking up traction now with this thread.
But since BHVR has ignored optimization for so long, they have shown they won't do it for the community. If Pulsar is able to talk to a news site, then maybe BHVR will do it if their reputation is at stake.
If Pulsar can't I'll make an effort to.

Don't have high hopes that they'll fix it. They didn't even mention optimization in that earlier announcement, only what they broke with "our latest release."
I try my absolute best to look on the positive side of things when it comes to companies. I hope so, so badly that they fix this.
Because, quite frankly, this is genuinely unacceptable.

Okay, just played my first game of Nemesis and here's my input on it:
What the #########?!
I was dropping frames and freezing. PC, Ryzen 7 3700x, 6GB GTX 1660, 32GB (4x8GB) RAM, 1TB Samsung SSD, And I was dropping frames and freezing. No other game has this issue. No other game stuttered as badly as this one match did. My computer is reaching record-high levels of temperature and I have the side of the PC off because I knew how hot it'd get. That didn't help.
What the actual ######### is this?! In the nicest possible way, of course.
I should not be dropping frames. I can play other multiplayer and single player games just fine. I should not be dropping frames on a game with minimum specs as low as an AMD FX-8120, a 1GB GTX 460, and 8GB RAM. I should not be dropping frames when the recommended specs are an Intel i3-4170, a 4GB GeForce 760, and 8GB RAM.
I don't really know what else to say, except from what the #########?!
If this cannot cope with it- a machine costing upwards of £1300 built in 2020 (bearing in mind, a 2016 game), what hope do lower end consoles have at the current level?
I'm aware BHVR have said they're looking into this. If they don't fix the abysmal optimisation in total, despite having said 60fps in 2018, then it's honestly not enough.
I've said enough times for you that you've got enough staff on enough teams BHVR. I've summarised your streams and told it exactly like you have.
Now prove to me, and to the rest of your consumers, that you mean you'll fix this.
-
Delete her from the game and make her an actual Ghost of DBD since she'll only exist in memories.

Are you saying they picked the Remaked characters and that's why the backstories are #########? Cause that doesn't make sense at all, their backstory is exactly the same. The Remakes didn't change the backstory for the characters, just events in the games are different, and that's mostly on RE3 Remake, but the lore is the same. Capcom doesn't need DbD, if the Chapter fails, wich it is already doing, then it doesn't hurt Capcom one bit, not only is DbD too small it's also just guest characters, their presence in DbD has no impact for what Capcom is gonna do with RE in the future or the Legacy of the characters in Gaming History, their presence in DbD is merely a foot note like something on a wiki page. It's DbD that should care about doing their best with the oportunity they have to use the characters.
No I'm saying they took the characters from early on in their respective games which is why the backstories are so short.

I think this is as close to an official statement as we're going to get.
The same ######### as always
-
This is me paraphrasing from @MadLordJack but basically it's a really good change for him because it's multi-coloured instead of just dark, making it significantly harder to see. The human eye is weird and they actually camouflage really well now.

Thank you

Name and profile change applies to Cybil, Jon, and Lisa. Does not apply to Krampus or Minotaur. Chris and Claire have unique voices, cannot confirm if Lisa/Cybil do or don't.

@lemonsway said:
Guys Capcom doesn't need to give them creative freedom with the Backsotry, BHVR just needs to put the existing backstory into DbD. It's simple copy and paste and not even that did they do. This isn't a creative freedom problem. BHVR simply did not give these characters their backstory.
Because they have to take the characters from partway through RE2/3??

But herin lies my complaint. They did such a good job before. Ghostface was well written too, and he's liscenced. I'm sure a skilled writer could find ways to make Capcom happy, while still doing a good story.
Ghostface as a mask is licensed. Ghostface as a character is completely original- Danny "Jed Olsen" Johnson exists nowhere but DBD and related fanworks.
So, no, all licensed characters have short lore.
-
@lemonsway said:
It's not Capcom, Capcom doesn't need BHVR and DbD to get popularity on the characters. Capcom loses no money in the Chapter being hot garbage. The Map was disabled not because of Capcom, Players are facing severe performance issues not because of Capcom. It's not because of Capcom...
This is about character bios, which is Capcom, and not the 103 other issues with the patch, which is not Capcom.
Look at their more recent characters- Elodie, Trickster, Felix, Twins; their backstories are really long and detailed. I doubt that BHVR would just decide "So lads you've done a great job these past couple chapters, so for this chapter I want you all to do ######### all"

I was confused and wasn't sure if it still dropped the item or not. Does it and if it does it drains percentage instead of deletes the item? If thats the case, its a small improvement but not enough. You still have to collect the item which in my opinion makes franklins too powerful by giving you an extra thing to do if you want the item.
It drops the item definitely.
I can't confirm if it drains percentage over time it's on the ground or just deletes a certain percent of charges. However it doesn't destroy the item anymore.

Since i no longer have to worry about those pesky keys being dropped and picked up by someone else i've implemented and successfully completed a few times now the 4k no hook challenge!
Fun for all ages(not survivors apparently though), some restrictions apply.
Thank you BHVR for encouraging this new strategy.
So... You 4man slugged teams because of a nerf to a perk?
This isn't the epic protest you thought it was.

Ok so which is it? Why does the link above say one thing but it does another in game? Is it a change coming or what?
According to the patch notes the items lose a % of their charges based on the time they're on the floor for.

Meaning in the main game? For example if I go into the tutorial to play some bot matches (which I've been looking forward to doing), does that mean that when I'm done and exit the tutorial my online characters will be reverted to their vanilla state?
Sorry to be so specific, this is just something I was planning on doing so I need to know what I'm in for.
Yes. Everything should remain unlocked however you'd have to Re-equip it and any broken sets would have to be re-broken

Match Making Ranking

Hey folks, it’s Patrick! Your friendly Lead Game Designer on Dead by Daylight, and I’m here to talk about the recent Matchmaking test.
First of all, a big thanks to everyone who played during the 48 hour test! The data we have gathered, along with general feedback has been extremely useful for the team.
"What is SBMM, anyway?"
- SBMM stands for “Skill Based Match-Making”, and is a number used by the system to attempt to build balanced matches by putting players of equal skill together. You may also hear the term MMR (Match Making Ranking) used to describe the system!
- Players have a single SBMM Rating shared by all their Survivor characters, but individual Ratings assigned to each Killer they play
- The SBMM is a dynamic value that adjusts each match based on your performance and the Rating of your opponents (if you do well against someone who has a much higher Rating, your SBMM Rating increases much more than if you had done well against someone with a much lower Rating than you)
- Note: This is a very general summary of the system. There is a lot more nuance and specialized rules for DbD, so in an effort to keep this brief I am oversimplifying a lot.
One of the main focuses of this test was to try a different approach to how we handle “unrated” players. An unrated player is someone who doesn’t have any matches played that have been tracked by the system. Usually, these players are new. However, they can also be people returning from a break! In this test, we only used matches from the past 3-ish weeks to build our SBMM (rather than our customary months of play data). This meant that our initial SBMM values for most players were a little inaccurate and required some additional games to adjust.
"How did the test go?"
- Halfway through our test, we were seeing many reports of high-skill Killers being matched against low-skill Survivors. At around 1PM EST on Thursday (around halfway through the test) we enabled a system that would assign unrated Killers a starting Rating based on their other Killers. To put this another way, if you had a high Rating with The Shape and The Trapper then decided to try out The Oni for the very first time, your Oni rating would start higher than the normal default due to your experience with other Killers. Enabling this appears to have resulted in an improvement of match quality, and we intend to improve this system in our next iteration.
- Mixed in with this, we also heard many reports of Hillbilly Killers getting matched against new players at a much higher rate than expected. This panned out when we checked our stats: HillBilly kill rates had spiked over the course of the test! It seems as though the matchmaking system is ignoring the proper SBMM value just for Hillbilly and was instead matching HillBilly players using the default “new” player rating no matter what. Thankfully, we were able to track down the problem. Did you notice how I’ve been spelling Hillbilly two different ways during this note? If so, you’ve got a hint about why this bug was occurring. 😉
Overall, our stats showed that as the test continued and people played more, games became more balanced over time. By the end of the test the system was able to match people against similarly skilled opponents the majority of the time.
Going forward, we will continue to refine the system and collect data in the background to improve it further, and will hopefully be moving to this system fulltime Soon™!

They announced it in 2018 and uh...
Uhhhhh...

Or have you maybe thought... I don't know. People are exaggerating? Or just because you see 100 people online comment that they suffer from lag, that does not mean everyone is. What if there is 10000s of players who may don't suffer from lag. I mean there 100000s of people who play on console, it may seem like it's a big issue online, but the vast people of people don't comment on this forum or twitter. I personally thinks it's a old hardware issue from the base ps4/xbox one, since people with the new consoles don't lag or the mid-upgrade consoles ps4 pro/xbox one X.
If you sell a game or service for full price, with plenty of DLC and cosmetics, released in 2016 with promises of 60fps in 2018 then you better be prepared for people to ask where this 60fps is three years later.
I've played on my ex's PS4, it was atrocious. I've played on Switch, it's abysmal. I've seen my brother play on an Xbox One X, it's awful. These are capable of running Resident Evil Village better than Dead By Daylight. Even Cyberpunk ran better and that literally bricked hardware.
Edit: Also does this thread mean nothing to you?

Okay so I bought the DLC for the new RE chapter. I was super excited to play it and have fun with this killer
Only issue is that I can't :)
I'm not too sure if this is a whole issue for all sides of people playing, but this happened when I played Nemisis. Every time you try and use his ability the game will just freeze. This issue also applies to any animation that you try and preform with him in general, such as searching lockers, breaking pallets, and even punching survivors
At one point my game froze for three seconds before crashing and sending me back to the xbox dashboard
So yeah he's currently unplayable which is really sad considering how amazing he was in the PTB
