How do I get the new heartbeat terror radius thing? Do I have to go turn it on or something?
Also where did everyone get the new black shirts with the blue cubes for their survivors?
I went on Xbox to play thinking there is a bunch of new stuff and updates but I don't see anything new.
Thanks
As @sizzlingmario4 said, the Visual Terror Radius can be found in the "Accessibility" tab of the Options menu.
Then, toggle "Heartbeat Visual Support" to on. It should be just beneath "Bloodweb Interaction Behaviour" (where you can toggle between pressing or holding on nodes) and above the Subtitle options.

And the nerfs are nothing compared to the killer perks. The nerf to killer perks are unusable whilst survivors can use them without a hassle and CoH is better than ever before.
Ain't no way you're trying to argue that current COH is better than when it was. The same healing values but with unlimited self healing at 16 seconds.
Just no.

That’s a few seconds short of any Medkit. Probably should be closer to 36 seconds.
At the cost of 2 of your 4 perk slots, one of which is self care.

I don't play him, but I've seen so many more people playing him including some ex Billy mains and they've been some of the most fun games I've had since literally patch 4.2.0. Ran from one guy so long I managed to convince him to just 1v1 me at shack during EGC and was laughing maniacally the entire time (according to the friend I was playing with, it was "minorly unhinged").
If this keeps up, there's no way it can't be a net positive.

Waitwaitwait Tinkerer Ruin Undying isn't viable anymore?
Tinkerer activates once per generator.
Hex: Ruin now regresses generators at 50%/75%/100% of the normal speed, and deactivates when cleansed or when a Survivor is killed by any means.

Lethal is a waste of a perk slot. Corrupt Intervention will always be universally good on every killer.
Lethal Pursuer turns I'm All Ears into 8 seconds of wallhacks on a 38 seconds cooldown, meaning that if you're smart on Nurse or Pyramid Head every other chase is completely free, lasting less than 20 seconds to go from healthy to downed.

I was not referring to medkits in that example. Simply Self Care + Botany.
So someone's math is still off, as GoodBoyKaru's 1st example of only self care was a 24sec heal and LeFennecFox's example of Self Care + Botany is a 30sec heal which makes no sense since only self care should be slower than self care + botany.
Thank you both again for helping me try to understand the match behind heals/heal perks/medkits/etc.
I was not using Self-Care in the example, I was using a Medkit to heal yourself. That comes with 33% speed decrease, as opposed to Self-Care which heals at 30% speed (a 70% speed decrease). Both sets of maths are correct

That makes sense. It sucks though because merchant as a concept is cool but her lore just doesn’t focus on what’s actually interesting about her
Instead of focusing on her rise to power in the business world and her indifference towards killing so long as it further her wealth they turned her into a cosplayer who enjoys killing just because basically
Good thing those tome changes mean we won't get a new tome centered around her for like another 10 years lol
-
I mean that's what happens when your writers are trying to expand on the lore of a character without any idea of what the community believes works well, what doesn't, and how to improve it. It's a lot harder to see these things in your own work than it is to see them in another's.

Self care add a negative modifier that brings you down to a speed of 0.35c/s which is independent of the medkit speeds
16 / (1.5 * 0.35) = ~30.5s
I believe they were referring to using a medkit, which now has a 33% speed decrease when healing yourself, since that's what I was using in my initial example.

Question: Should there be parenthesis for everything that is not the # of charges?
For your examples, what if we combine them? Is the correct equation the following?
16/(1*(1+0.5)*(1-0.33)) = 15.92
Thus, Botany Knowledge + Self Care = standard heal?
Yes, as far as I'm aware that's correct (and it lines up with a game I had earlier where a green medkit + botany knowledge healed me at normal speed until the medkit ran out lol)

The new meta hasn't been around for 48 hours, there isn't even a defined meta yet.

How can One calculate Heal speed. I am interested in calculating various combinations of perks and/or medkits to see the various "self healing" specific options and how long each takes. (for simplicity, you can leave out the medkit as I am most interested in how to calculate speed)
Ex: Self Care, Botany Knowledge, Better than New, Desperate Measures, Streetwise (+medkits of course), etc.
Combo Ex: Self-Care+Botany Knowledge; Self Care+Streetwise+Brown Medkit, etc.
Thank you very much for the information from the first answer provide, it's very insightful!
Any action speed in DBD is calculated by the formula below (it looks complicated I promise it's easy):
Action speed = Total Charges / 1 * (1 + (positive modifiers + positive modifiers)) * (1 - (negative modifiers * negative modifiers))
Let's take healing. It needs 16 charges. At base, that's 16 / 1 * (1 + (0)) * (1 - (0)), or literally 16 / (1 * 1 * 1) = 16/1 = 16 seconds.
Healing yourself comes with a 33.3% speed decrease, meaning that then becomes 16 / 1 * (1 + (0)) * (1-0.33)
Again, this looks complex, but take it one step at a time and it's very simple.
16 / 1 * (1) * (0.67)) = 16 / 1*0.67 = 16/0.67 = 23.88s. In practice, it equals 24 seconds, but for the sake of my keyboard and thumbs I'm not writing out an infinite number of 3s.
So, what if you use Botany Knowledge to heal someone else?
16 / 1 * (1+(0.5)) * (1-(0)) = 16 / 1 * 1.5 * 1) 16 / 1.5 = 10.67 seconds.
Worth noting, as mentioned above, positive multipliers are applied additively, and negative multipliers are applied multiplicatively. Hence why in the initial formula, positive modifiers are added and negative modifiers are multiplied.
I wrote this mostly on my phone + had to rush to help my brother set up his xbox, so if you have any other questions just let me know and I'll explain as best I can.

I'd say this is intended

On XSX we still have the option. But ppl told me it's only working on my side as others still will see my name.
According to BHVR (@Mandy, more specifically) they cannot override platform-specific settings. On Xbox, it is mandatory that people's playertags are shown according to previous communication, and that the previous implementation would override that requirement, which is why it was removed.
The most recent Mid-Chapter Patch Notes now state that Anonymous Mode is available on consoles.
What I believe is happening is that settings yourself to Anonymous Mode will hide your name, like it would on Steam or Epic Games, for other platforms that don't have the requirement to show your name, however on platforms that do it would act as if Anonymous Mode isn't present.
But I can't test that theory just yet, because I don't have the time nor the mobile data to install 4 sets of updates on my Switch and my main internet is only good for things that don't take a whole lot right now.

Be happy? It takes 5 seconds to heal!
What perks/items make it take 5 seconds to heal? 16 seconds at 100% speed make it 8 seconds, and with Botany making it 150% speed that makes it 6 seconds, but not 5.

With BHVR giving the rift for free with Prime Gaming, it means having an extra 1000 auric cells.
1 licensed character is 500 auric cells. Meaning they're giving away 2 licensed characters for "free" like that? If you wait for 50% discounts it's 4!
That's nice for people like me that bought the game and only bought the rift, Ghostface and Pig with Tapp for the challenges (I'm a challenge maniac).
Thank you BHVR!
What will you do with an extra 1000 auric cells? Will you use them on outfits or on newer licensed characters?
Supporting Haddie's new skin so that maybe the most lore relevant character gets some more outfits

Good news, you get a "free" 1k cells, meaning you essentially can purchase any outfit you like provided you've got 80 cells left over somewhere (or like 500 spare if you want a legendary), or if you haven't been purchasing the Rift Pass before then you can now begin doing so.

"sloppy rates are going up" -> iw will see more uptime and therefore higher Pickrate (aka might become meta again)-> please buff by removing exhaustion restriction (even when the perk is fine the way it is)
I don't see were i misunderstood anything.
I just think that there is no logical correlation or necessity to buff an already working and fine perk just because it might see more usage.
The higher uptime due to sloppy alone is enough incentive to increase the pick rate and value you get out of the perk and doesn't need a further buff.
It would be the same when killer player would say "gen regression perk X is getting nerfed so we will have to use perk Y instead, please additionally buff it even when it was fine/balanced already".
Tbh I really doubt IW will ever be meta again. 75% and a lack of synergy with one of the strongest Survivor perks in the game (Sprint Burst), while also managing to be outclassed by Off The Record and Bite The Bullet (which really is quite impressive). If people want that stealth value, they'd be better off bringing a double heal Medkit w/ BTB and BTL, or slapping on OTR and getting bonus anti-tunnel protection from those that wait out the Endurance.
If it was 100% but not while Exhausted, or just a flat 75%, I think it'd have a solid chance of coming back into being used, but not overwhelming. 100% but not whole exhausted means you can use it with some exhaustion perks, like Lithe or Balanced, but it locks it out of use with the strongest exhaustion perk SB, meaning that you have to sacrifice the most consistently good exhaustion perk for the most consistently good stealth perks (this is a good thing). A flat 75% across the board means you'd have to decide between having consistently reduced sounds of pain, unlike BTB and OTR, but it's a weaker form of the effect since it's far less situational (again, forcing people to make the choice is a good thing).
Like, I think it's time people started to see that a lot of perks in 6.1.0 were overnnerfed. DS could honestly go back up to 5 seconds, because it's deactivated on conspicuous action and in endgame, for example. Ruin and PGTW, while maybe not being a full revert, could at least get some buffs to help take them out of the dumpster they were thrown in. And of course, we give the BP Bonus back to BBQ, so you can return to your old PFP and the world will truly know peace).
IW was just another victim of overrnerfing, imho, and could do with one of the two nerfs being reverted (but not both of them, please)

So are you literally not going to argue any point?
The 10 extra seconds gained mean nothing when surviors recieved shiny new tools to speed up said progress, and all the killer slowdown power level went down as a result.Keep in mind as well that not all generators are equal. The first 2 gens that pop are most of the time unstoppable anyway. If you were going to 3 gen, every other gen on the map might as well not exist.
Eruption was indeed stupid, the same way original
ds was,or MoM.It was an anomaly and an incredibly broken perk, nothing else.
Ds is still strong,it's in top 15 most picked perks, and i see atleast one every game.If the killer is camping don't unhook and allow they to tunnel?Use the brand new reassurance,or bring ds and dh and tank 3 extra hits.
Dh got nerfed vs m1 killers. It's still strong vs virtually any meta killer since their attack are predictable and typically have a narrow window to down the survivors.Considering it's high pickrate i would argue it's far from heavily nerfed, and i would argue its heavily buffed vs Nurse and blight, since you tank a hit and get a speedboost on top.The original problem the perk presented is also still in the game, the ability to DH to a pallet and be uncountable,or to do it to a window and turn it into a 50/50.
Not any killer, and maybe vs solos at best. As mentioned previously, yes those 2 abominations could, but if trickster was 3gening your 5k hour swf then i'm afraid I hate to tell you a secret.
The changes were cute in making m1 killers 5% stronger, and look where they are now,the same punching bags for survivors to abuse. The only killers that could stand a chance got nerfed.Blight, nurse and spirit don't want to hold a 3 gen they want to get rewarded for chases, thats what their power promots.

You missed my entire point.Back when all those ridiculous things existed moris allowed you to skip sacrifice stages and kill a survivor earlier than they should. The game was a mess,it was technically survivor sided, but if one sided wanted a free win there wasn't a lot you could do.
"You missed my entire point.Back when all those ridiculous things existed moris allowed you to skip sacrifice stages and kill a survivor earlier than they should. The game was a mess,it was technically survivor sided, but if one sided wanted a free win there wasn't a lot you could do. "
Moris needed you to have hooked them once, unless we're going right back to the start of DBD in which case I can bring out the old killer vault speeds, 20 second CD SB, double window on shack, etc.
In order to hook them, you had to battle through literal infinite loops, DH, SB, old DS, IW, you had to re chase them down through BT, you couldn't leave them because Self Care was 24 seconds and was actually meta. You had to deal with pallet vaccuum, window vaccuum, double pallets- hell, triple pallets, even. Jungle gyms with 2 pallets and 2 windows, no Entity blocker, no bloodlust.
So sure, you could kill someone earlier in theory, but to do that you had to catch them. And the only saving grace is that people were a lot worse at DBD in 2017 than they are now.
-
Yeah, this was kinda a big thing back when they standardised and clarified the difference between damaging a generator and a generator beginning regressing. The interaction was bugged for a while, and blocked generators would still regress, however they really aren't supposed to. The progress is meant to be frozen at whatever it was when the generator was blocked, and not regress further until after it has been unblocked.

Why,cause the gens got an extra 10 seconds to complete, while all the gen regression perks were butchered one after the another? You gave us a bigger bucket, but if you can't empty the water you will still drown. They also introdcued a bunch of perks to speed up the gens.
Because Ds was nerfed? OTR i would argue is stronger vs most killers, pair it with basekit bt on top.
All the stronger killers (untill next patch ig) got nerfed in one way or another.Dh right now allows you to get a free speed boost vs them since their abilities are predictable.Nurse got heavily nerfed no debating there.
All the maps released are reworks are terrible as well.
Holding a 3gen i would argue isn't as strong as chase orietend regression(but it might be a playstyle difference).
But hey m1 killers are 5% stronger, they might get one extra hook vs a competent team!
DH for Distance is gone, 5 second DS is gone, Exhastion Perk stacking is gone, pallet and window vaccuum is gone, double pallets are gone, pallet spawns have been seriously nerfed and reduced, Deadlock exists as a very strong perk, etc.
You're missing quite a few key changes that happened in the game. Also, you literally admitted that old DBD was so Survivor Sided:tm: that it was "an unbalanced mess" (which I think puts it generously).
Nurse and Blight may be harder to win with now compared to their hay day (and for Blight, that's when RuinDyingTinkerer was around), but on average (meaning across every killer), it is objectively easier now than it was.
Sincerely, someone who played through and suffered through the early days.

You're not supposed to let go from the gen like with Pain Res / DMS.
You just need to hit the skillchecks. Or what's the problem here?
@[Deleted User] said:
Not sure what you mean by let go? You don't want to do that. Not sure what SoloQ has to do with it either. SWF doesn't stop you from missing skill checks. I swear some people must think SWF are these gods that never lose games or make mistakes.
The perk is bugged so that hitting the skill checks causes the generator to regress by a substantial amount, usually between 85% and 100% of the way, but only sometimes. The exact causes of the bug are unknown, so avoiding it is also unknown, but letting go of the generator, taking the 10% missed skill check penalty, and having the gen be blocked is often the better option instead of needing to re-repair every generator.
The reason solo queue is involved is because you cannot tell them "oh yeah they have merciless btw don't forget it's bugged and to let go". Cross-platform games means you can't remind people in pre-game chat, either.

Remember when they deleted Ruin so hard that it genuinely could be a regular perk not a Hex perk and it would still be bad?
Pain Res was butchered less than Ruin was, so I don't see it losing the Scourge Hook part.
Sure, it isn't great, but at least it still is able to add an entire extra generator to repair. Making it not a SH perk would require a complete overhaul of either it or Grim Embrace, because otherwise they would fill effectively the same niches.

What else can I do to balance it? I made it so survivors become vulnerable after using the guns
Well because the actual post is now deleted I don't have exact numbers, but from what I've remembered the ability to push the killer back, stunlock them, blind them with very little agency, etc, all with absurd ammo counts wasn't exactly fair.
For context, a yellow flashlight can blind the killer ~4 times unless you chainblind (which is easily avoidable). It takes ~1.8-2 seconds to blind, and at a useage rate of 1 charge a second and having 8 charges, it has 8 seconds of use.
I remember the blinding gun having between 10 and 15 "bullets" (charges), let alone however many could be added with add-ons. I remember the stunning gun having more than that, too.
Also, I really don't think you understand just how massive turning a killer from 115% to 106% (the 8% slowdown one that was there) is. A 110% killer would become 102% speed. That means that, because Survivors have a smaller hitbox so can hug objects tighter, the Survivor would be able to gain distance. It'd be like if every Survivor was running a better version of hope.
Plus, being able to push the killer back? Absolutely not.
I just don't see a realistic way to make guns, or really any form of truly fighting back against the killer, work in DBD. In other assymetrical games, where the game has been planned and designed from scratch with this in mind? Absolutely. In DBD where you greatest defences are pallets, windows, and a David King perk? No.
-
Well, balanced is certainly an adjective.
