I’m not trying to make him that way i wanted to make him more skillful to use but don’t forget if you directly hit someone they can’t vault or drop pallets. So that would be enough encouragement to try to go for direct shots

He is already skillful to use though. It takes skill to properly line up a shot at a loop to cover that loop half way or full way of gas. You gotta remember 99.9% of people who try to play clown do not know how to play him properly. He already has a high skill ceiling due to the fact that every object in the game has a use for his bottles. I think the direct impact would prevent pallet drops etc... Is fine, but I don't agree with the fact that flask should be turned into something that's direct impact only. Maybe direct impact should have old cigar box effects on vision and that's about it besides the preventing of an action.

Flash of bleach would be removed because it’s built into clowns base kit

But then you would be relying on direct impact only for the 5% bonus slowdown. Most of your bottles should be placed on certain spot on a loop. Flask should stay. I have to disagree making direct impact give the 5% bonus slowdown due to the fact that you are mostly relying on aoe over a direct impact. Most people try to loop clown, so the 5% bonus slowdown is a big deal with flask. Bad clowns also like to throw direct impacts at actual loops. This would reinforce the idea that's how he is suppose to be played when he's not.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

After clown got his buff he’s still weak the antidote still didn’t solve his problem so here are some buffs to clown

    1. Increase number of bottles by 1
    2. make it so directly hitting someone with the after piece tonic gives them a extra 5% hindered
    3. hitting someone directly with a bottle of afterpiece tonic makes it so they cannot do actions for 2.5 seconds
    4. increase movement speed while reloading to 105% speed
    5. decrease antidote startup time from 2.5 to 1.5 seconds
    6. increase antidote speed to 150% speed and make it last 10 seconds when leaving the gas cloud
    7. Finally I would separate the bottles so let’s say I have 5 tonics and antidotes I throw 2 tonics then change to antidotes I will still have 5 antidotes. Thoughts?

Base bottles should be 6 and extra bottle addons to be changed to something else. He does not need any extra hindered effect, because that would make flask of bleach with his direct impact actually stupidly ridiculous combined with the antidote. Third one I think should be reduced down to 1.5. Movement speed during reload should be increased I agree. Antidote startup time is fine in my opinion. Antidote should be only increased an extra 5% anything higher is overkill. Clowns bottles still should be shared.

The thing with clown is that he doesn't nececarelly suck but people suck with him.

He kinda reminds me of blight where you really need to look at every single loop and how to best get a hit with it.

I would place him up there with other strong chase no mobility killers. He can be very hard to deal with. One misplaced bottle of him is enough to take away a lot of his pressure though.

As far as addons go the new aura reading addons are way stronger then exhaustion addons. With cigar box you can leave all but the safest pallets up and 100% mind game them everytime.

That's something I'm finding out slowly. Don't break as many pallets especially if they throw early. Chase straight after them. Force them to stay at the loop.

So yeah in short still very susceptible to split up and do gens but things can quickly spiral out of control if you don't respect a good one

Yep this is right. Clown doesn't suck, but every loop in the game has a bottle placement that covers most of the loops. L and T walls most clowns throw bottles improperly. Jungle gym's have certain arcs where bottles cover. Loops become extremely unsafe if these bottles are placed correctly.

Sounds like they were a noob swf. They must have copies of the survivor's rule book for killers.

They weren't exactly good lets just say that, but at the same time these survivor complaints also don't play killer or have touched killer with a 10 foot pole. These people should be forced to play killer for a while, and then they would maybe see why killers do the things they do. Might open their eyes a bit.

It's probably related to the whole "We literally can't do anything while on the Hook, and we'll get kicked out if we're on here for too long, so we wanna be taken off ASAP and play some more" thing.

Can't deny that being on the Hook isn't exactly fun.

That's not to say such complaints are valid.

It's like a fish would know that bait is bait, bites it anyway, then magically says to the guy: Godamn camper.

Being on the hook really isn't fun, but at the same time it's like at least let me walk away and find someone else before you do it. If not I'm going right back to the hook.

  • @Raja said:

    Narcissism

Most of the survivor players pretty much yea. Sucks too, because I play survivor quite frequently, and I'm not that stupid to literally unhook in the killers face then blame him for it.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

Most survivors don't see their own mistakes. They don't even acknowledge they made a mistake. In thier mindset they are perfect. It is the killer or the game that is mistaken :P

I don't understand it. I played a few rounds earlier today, and they would literally hook dive I could hear them behind me, and they would unhook every single time I hooked someone like 2 seconds later. One round this swf told me that I don't allow them to unhook when I literally hear them behind me while I'm carrying someone. Whenever I play survivor I always wait until the killer is long gone somewhere else to get the unhook. Common sense is not a thing in this community most of the time.

Yeah I know. Solo is really random but piping is easy. When I played killer I didn't had trouble staying in red ranks either. You just have to play enough in both cases.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1980681#Comment_1980681

I like to immerse myself into dbd that is why I probably enjoy doing it solo. But I play a lot of other multiplayer games with my friends. Last one was Nioh 2. It was pretty fun.

Dbd is one of the few games I can think of that a friend group has an advantage over because of the 4v1 aspect. Compared to other games where it's more team based. It's such a massive advantage, and considering the state of the game. It's severely difficult to pressure a decent swf, due to 4 people having communication, and you are a single person doing it all on your own as killer. No matter how good you are with that killer. It just becomes stupid how easy it can be in a friend group. Solo is a much better time, because it allows fair play.

  • @Shaped said:

I only played swf once with my rl friend and we were messing around since he is not into dbd. I kinda prefer playing this game solo tbh and I am not really interested in swf.

I was just curious how does it feel. I see that a lot of people consider it busted but it is the experience I never had so I want to see how people who do it feel about it.

Thing is, is that you don't even need to be in a sweat squad to even win the game 80-90% of the time. Winning all the time is boring too. They need to add something, because there is just too much pallets and the most maps are too big for most killers to even get decent pressure most of the time. Most of the time even in a decent team that knows how to do gens it always ends up in a depip if the killer commits to someone too long.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1977879#Comment_1977879

Yeah best thing is they'll usually act like total arses over a win as well further reducing any fun factors.

I wish playing killer wasn't such a vastly differing experience so people would at least understand what one means when they're complaining about killer gameplay.

Like yeah... Anyone can beat bad survivors like the Steve in the clip above but I don't want the win to be dependant on "how bad" the survivors are.

I just want a balanced gaming experience. If they all beat me individually in a chase (as in all of them can hold a chase of around a minute) then I will gladly accept a 4 man escape but right now you can basically -and I will quote @DevourOfSalt on this- not even breath in the direction of a gen before it pops (when facing competent/aggressive survivors).

It's extremely difficult to win against aggressive survivors. Especially if they glue to gens. Gotta worry about ds and everything in between. They don't even need to be good at chasing. If they can just drop pallets and be chased for like half a minute or so. Better kiss any chance of winning goodbye. Unless they start causing blunders, and making a ton of mistakes by grouping up giving you free hits, so you can slug. Gen speeds can make average players win every time. I play with my GF and her brother a lot, and we just split up on gens, and I'm the highest skilled in the group, and I'm slightly better than average and we win 8/10 games, by just sticking on gens.

I'm from germany so when I play in the morning I occasionally face UBK or other tournament teams, Sawpalin and his friends (who are easily better than most tournament players I've seen so far) etc.

At this point I'm not even feeling like playing in the morning anymore.

If I play at night however I too get them "EZ 4K games" that usually start like this (names censored for obvious reasons):

    https://youtu.be/nowWTCZhCM4

If I always got "these kind" of games I would say killer is hideously easy but damn... The difference between "normal survivors" and elite level survivors is just... Difficult to explain.

I'm in america, but I tend do get people all over place most of the time, and early morning games for me are rough. Don't play early morning anymore due to it. I can down a person in like 15 seconds, and it doesn't matter at all. Even with 8 stacks of STBFL and being a really high tier clown player. I struggle hard in early morning games. Like you said any longer than 20 seconds and the game is over. It's rough. Late night is much better. I wish I could have fun in the game no matter what time of the day, but can't have that, because people like to be fun suckers.

  • @Yamaoka said:

Yupp. I know what you're talking about.

DBD is nearly unplayable as killer in the morning for me as that's when all the gen aggressive teams are playing in my region. Even 20 second chases will cost you the game at this level of play.

And if you even dare chase someone for around 50 seconds you can pretty much open the gates yourself.

Meanwhile when I'm playing solo survivor:

    3+ minute chase = 2 gens.

What region you play on? Same thing with me. I feel like early morning is when it's at it's worse.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/230673/sick-and-tired-of-it

It'd be statistically incredible if 2 gens popped within 20-30 seconds of chasing someone considering 2 people on a gen can only complete it in about 45 seconds or so. 80 seconds for one person. I really feel like there's too many threads on this forum wrongfully complaining about gen speed despite them being fine. As a killer main myself I never really lose gens at an uncontrollable rate. You really just have to pick your fights with survivors and make sure they don't sneak onto gens under your nose. Always split your pressure between multiple people, learn when to leave a survivor injured without downing them. Slug if you have to. if multiple people can complete a gen uninterrupted, you're doing something wrong.

If you aren't slugging you need to consider time recovering hit after down picking person up animation dragging person to the hook. That's pretty much enough time for gens to get done or close enough. That's why gens go fast. A lot of killers try to play fair, but they can't.

  • @DevourOfSalt said:

Gen speed has gotten to point you can't enjoy killer anymore i cant even chase anyone for what seems to be 20-30sec without 2 gens gone.

Its ridiculous at this point there nothing you can do unless your run the same old generic build.

There is no fun to be had with killer its gotten so bad you have start second guessing should u chase or not.

I wish I could run more fun builds, but I always have to incorporate corrupt at minimum even when I end chases generally in the 20-30 second range like you said. I have to end up slugging, but sorry have to deal with unbreakable on top of that. Earlier I ended up slugging all 4 survivors, and I still ate a 59 second ds somehow, and then they had unbreakable. Had to slug all of them again, because they did 3 gens even though I had tons of pressure. The speeds are actually stupid, and leaves no room, but having to run generic builds to even perform on a good level, because without corrupt good chance 3 gens are gone by the time you get one down.

But you seem like you just came here to find people to get angry alongside you over nothing. Nobody is forcing you to stay in endgame chat, just leave or mute it.

How did anything I said equals to me being annoyed when losing or winning? I said they rage when I win and they say quite not nice things when I lose I say gg either way, and I like having endgame chat open for people who say nice things sometimes. Clowns antiloop runs out and it’s buggy. Survivors still scream and run straight through the gas like pre-patch.

There is an added detonation delay on o the bottles and the gas expands more slowly than pre “buff” clown.

His expanded has area addons have been gutted. You basically have to screw around combining gas types to get his to the same level as pre patch clown.

Gas physics have been nerfed. Loops that would normally have been neutralized with 1 bottle can be screwed up with a bad throw since gas doesn’t react to gravity as much, and can linger above the loop instead of covering it.

Overall it was a nerf. He was better before the rework.

I figured out after playing him for a while the scream happens due to the gas just skimming them. So they need to be in at least a certain ring of the gas for it to work. We did talk about the detonation delay before, and I agree it's a serious problem with him right now. I think that these problems are bugs and not intended.

  • @Zeus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1977673#Comment_1977673

As it should be. Doctor has more to him than just anti loop. Clown is just antiloop with a limited number of bottles unlike doctor who can shock continuously. The question is whether if clown's anti loop makes up for his lack of other abilities that doctor has

Doctor is good for stalling, and his anti loop is good, but I can't say it's better than clowns though. Doc does have more to him with the ability to find people, and stall the game with madness t3. Clown doesn't have that, but if I were to put them in comparison clowns antiloop is more than likely stronger than doc's

  • @SilentPill said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1977673#Comment_1977673

Well you don’t play discipline + range doctor then. That makes his anti loop significantly better and easier to execute than clown.

You see these tryhard doctors using the iri addons when they don’t realize his best anti loop addons are discipline. Range lets you deny everything from further away. Double discipline is outrageous.

Clown needs a fair amount of setup time at any loop. He needs to smash yellow gas on himself then purple gas the side the survivor is one. Doc just needs to shock as they run towards the pallet.

I know those addons are good, but the problem is, is that the slowdown that occurs when he's shocking at stronger loops it feels like you have to break the pallet or you waste more time than you chasing around it. Clown doesn't have that slowdown. Most loops can be handled with the tonic alone, and don't need the antidote for most. Usually the antidote is best for holding w in between loops.

  • @SilentPill said:

He’s really not that bad, he used to be one of my favorite killers before the rework since with good map/loop knowledge it was easy to herd survivors into the add-on pumped gas.

Now it’s a bit harder since you have to mix and match the bottles due to the purple bottle detonation delay making his slowdown weaker but I still find his anti loop more formidable than half of the killer roster.

In my opinion even though I'm a clown fanboy. I've played all the anti loop based killers quite a bit, but I still think his anti loop is possibly even stronger than doctors because of the fact you can take control of a good pallet without much of an issue. The problem with doc is that he still has that delay, and people put doc way higher than clown, and I have no idea why. I find doc way easier to loop than clown.

Edit: and id add bill to the list of survivors to grind first

  • @ThisBetch said:

Why play with your friends if you can't even talk to them? Don't get so worked up over it, sometimes you lose, sometimes you win. 99% of swfs aren't out to be rude to you, they're just having a good time with friends chatting and joking around. It's only when you get tilted and act snarky in chat, that they will see an opportunity to mess with you. Just say "gg <3" and move on, don't dwell on a loss. And besides, hard matches are the ones that make you improve! GL! <3

What do you mean? Whenever a swf loses to me they start raging at me. Whenever they win they call me a baby killer. The killer generally never gets snarky at all.

Tunnelling is a necessary strategy against good swf. I generally don't tunnel, but if someone draws me into a chase, and 3 gens pop before the 4 minute chase ends. I'm tunnelling at least 1 person out, I'll eat the ds and all.

I had some streamer call me every name in the book yesterday, because I ate ds and all when they were popping gen left and right on badham. When they were the weakest link. Couldn't last longer than 20 seconds in chase. Their swf was hiding just doing gens, but I spotted them each time. Ended with a 3k which is fine on badham for me, but that's the only way to win against a strong swf usually.

"change how the game is played entirely" = they can't tunnel to their heart's content oh no :(

If you have 4 ds in a strong swf, and you are going to lose, because you can't get anyone out of the game, but still eat a ds even though they are popping every generator after 2 minutes, and you still end up losing, because of a perk giving them extra time. Let alone when you don't even tunnel the person and they can sit on a generator and finish it, and still end up eating a 59 second ds is a serious problem. I ate 2 ds at the end of the round yesterday, and only got a 2k because of it. I only ate them, because the gates were open, and they were right by them. Yes it's a problem.

I've been told shadowborn is op so not that far off from MS, and I only use it, because it's extremely useful on clown with narrow throwing of bottles helps not mess up a bottle toss, and the default fov is absolutely dumpster fire with clowns bottle throwing in my opinion, but some people think it's op. I know these people exist. People will stoop to an absolute low to think a perk that is such an uncommon occurrence is overpowered.

The gloves that change the arc of his gloves though just make the arc more straight in case anyone is wondering, I myself don't think it is that great and I don't like it.

He doesn't give any actual tutorials or gameplay, just vague statements about how amazing clown secretly is despite his forum name.

Truth is clown is just SLIGHTLY better than he was before. The reload time reduction was much needed. Yellow bottles...yeah, most often not worth using. Hell, even Otz struggled in his video to justify using them even if he was genuinely trying to explain the proper time to use them. They have extremely niche uses that require the stars to align to get proper use from for a underwhelming speed buff.

Which is all a shame because a lot of us where expecting a big rework, not some small buffs to his already underwhelming power.

I'm collecting gameplay for a video that I will make against some good teams with clown using yellow bottles since you requested it. I have some, but would like a few more.

All this is known to me, I just think Deathslinger takes more skill with aiming vs clowns skill with bottle placement.

Thing is with deathslinger is that this game is slow paced. Most people who have played dbd most likely have played FPS. Where the game is typically much faster pace compared to dbd. Aiming with deathslinger is a joke if you have some sort of prior experience in fps games. Now that the fps genre is mostly fast paced. Playing deathslinger is a massive step down compared to playing those games, so playing him isn't that hard. Plus he is hard countered by a lot of pallets in the game while clown isn't. Sure you can shoot through things with him, and possibly get an injure or hit, but how often is that worth while? Like never. I run into good deathslingers all the time, and how often do I run into a good clown? I only have ran into one like I said and it was verconn which he has a lot of time clocked in on clown also.

Clown really doesn’t have that high of a skill cap, just requires some creativity with his bottles.

It's part creativity, but it's about timing properly also. If you misplace a bottle you can literally not get a hit because the bottle allowed them to get .1 second ahead of you. There is tons of objects that need bottles need to be properly placed on for it to work out in the end. Every single object in the game as some sort of use for clowns bottles. Even people who have hundreds of hours + more clocked in on clown like me are still figuring out most of these things, because there is so many things that you can do with him. Sure there is barely any clown mains, and or people who say they are clown mains but only have like 20 hours clocked in on him, but actual people who actually have spent a ton of time on clown will tell you he can be deadly, and he has one of the highest skill caps in the game, just because of how his bottles work due to all the objects in the game you have to figure out where you place these bottles at in order for it to be worthwhile. Combine all that with all the maps, and you have things to learn for like thousands of hours with him. Now with his new bottles you can learn a lot more.

Deathslinger - Strong chase power, no mobility

Clown - Strong chase power, no mobility (better Mobility then Slinger)

Deathslinger does have a stronger power but requires more skill

Clown has stronger power but requires less skill

I would place Deathslinger above clown and Clown right below him.

Honestly just because there is a better option doesn’t mean the other options are bad.

What do you mean? Clown has an extremely high skill cap. That's why you barely see any good clowns. It's an incredibly rare sight to see a decent clown let alone a top tier one. I've gone against like 100+ clowns and only one of them was good. Deathslinger isn't that hard to use. Even for people with not much fps skill.

I'd take this post more seriously if I didn't see people complain about facecamping when the actual problem is hook farmers that encourage the behavior.

But that's just none of my business I guess.

Should read my steam comments. :) People hover around the hook and complain when I stay around it.

the only reliable counter to certain killers and playstyles.

I go for 12 hooks games as clown, but I have been having to be less nice about going for those 12 hook games which sucks, because I want to get as much bp as possible.

    Instant Killer queue times again.

First game, coldwind offering, fractured cowshed.

1 hook and 2 gens gone. About to hook a 2nd and get a 2 man hook bodyblock, and there's only 1 gen left. Flash light clicks. I just left.

    "gg ez" in chat

DBD is back to normal, yay!

I don't know about you, but that's been like that ever since the new patch. People just gen rushing like maniacs.

Because killers aren't allowed to do or have anything.. rule #111 of the survivor handbook

Sorry I need to go stand in a corner and count to 10 minutes after 1 hook. :)

if anything they should be complaining about noed, devour hope, ruin....etc. not barbecue and chilli

When I use to run ruin way back. I got a lot of complaints about it. I still get complaints about several other perks which aren't run as frequently as most.
