I just feel like the game is slowly losing its way, it has always been buggy, but at least back then it had style.
I know how that is.
I am proud to call myself the most old fashioned player in the history of Dead by Daylight. I really, REALLY miss the old game.

I really miss the DBD that I started playing in 2019, I would take it back in a heartbeat, old mori's/old hatch and all.
I like how you think :)

Honestly, I still can't believe there were people that great with old Freddy back then, because sadly I honestly thought he was one of the worst killers at anything besides tunneling since he can just force the survivor he wants to go for into sleep while leaving the other survivors and bypassing bt. So I genuinely am impressed you managed it, honestly wish they made old Freddy come back because you make me feel nostalgic, though I wonder what version of old Freddy do you want most? PTB Freddy or nerfed release Freddy?
The best version of Freddy, in my honest opinion, is his on-release version. Prior to his very first nerf, I strongly believe he was the only perfect killer BHVR has ever designed. But that is just me :)
"So I genuinely am impressed you managed it"
Thank you <3
Your words warm my heart, my friend, but really it was no big deal. Certainly not as impressive as OP's Billy streak.
Freddy had a lot of hidden potential, and if you knew what you were doing you had a very powerful killer in your hands.
-
Well all have our own opinions when it comes to maps :)
I loved the old maps, and I always will. For me, they will always be the best!

Though while the removal of exhaustion addons from Doctor and Clown and getting rid of LF's masks were asked for, most of these things were unnecessarily changed. While some of them were solely changed to be on-par with other aspects of the game, like Doctor and Trapper getting redesigned and Survivors getting their models updated, most of them were uncalled for.
And not only many things were uncalled for, they were also forced upon us.
Think of Battlefront 2, for example. Not the absolute best game in the world, but when they changed the default appearance of two of their units they've kept the old visual there, giving you the option to choose.
This is not difficult to do, and DBD could have done that for several of its unnecessary changes.
But they didn't, which is extremely disappointing.
-
There are several things in DBD which should be reverted, but I never thought I would add Mettle of Man to that list...
And yet, here we are.
-
I wasn't, and won't be, around for that combo but from what I've read it is an extremely annoying combination that most people were glad was gone. DBD has countless things that should come back, but perhaps this was not one of them.
The MoM nerf is dumb.
I don't think the DS nerf is something that cannot be adapted to, but it certainly wasn't needed. And I think the killer buffs should have come in the form of perks that affect the intended areas, such as Fire Up and STBFL.
So yeah...I think I agree.
-
An option is always a good thing to have.
They should have done that with COUNTLESS changes: make them optional, not unavoidable.

oh I know, and I've tried to be a voice in that as well. The bottom line is that they just don't care about constructive feedback, and there will never be rhyme and reason to their design choices.
Unfortunately so, yes.
You know things are bad when you can say that weird and unnecessary changes are a common thing.

They balance through Chaos. One game's bad rng is offset by another game's good rng. They will always have objectively bad things they refuse to fix, while having objectively good thing that will be destroyed, "just to mix it up." They don't see metas as a symptom of poor game design, they just see them as another opportunity to shake the ant colony.
The problem is when that "objectively good thing that will be destroyed" happens to be your favorite thing in the game.
No one likes that.
No one should have to go through that.

Today at Lerys I was a bit unperceptive and got marked and downed by a Ghostface within the first minute of the game. I then didn't suicide on hook, got saved, got tunneled by the Ghostface and put on deathhook, while 2 gens popped.
The other survivors reset, got me off hook and I had already planned my escape route. Ghostface came after me and I ran him for another gen, then another survivor took the aggro, I got away, reset and we basically took the game out of Ghostface's hand from that moment on, slamming the last couple of gens out, playing it rather save and escaped with all 4 survivors.
We have some amazing matches from time to my time, don't we?
I have one to tell, a story I've shared with the Forums before. It is an Old DBD tale, of course, but it is still fresh in my mind.
So there I was, playing Survivor on Old Shelter Woods against an Insta-Saw Billy. Said Billy was easily one of the best killer players I've ever seen: full P3 and extremely aggressive, barely gave us any time to do our objective.
But us Survivors did not back down. Even as Solo Queue, we would prevail.
We fought tooth and nail, really gave it our all. One could say that trial was a test of skill, in a way.
In the end, only two of us escaped. A tie, by my standards, but damn it felt like a victory.
And at the time it was a victory to be proud of! Now it is a treasured memory from a better time...
-
Another tip for Solo Queue players:
Expect to do most of the work, especially regarding gens.

Might want to run that through Google Translate again, dude. "Solo queue is absolutely hell to play right now between stacked slowdowns and other survivors reacting to stacked slowdowns" does not equal "I want to bully killers in a 4-man SWF." When it comes to the ######### killer queue times - most survivor players are solos and coordinated bullying was never on the cards.
This.
-
Ah yes, let us nerf this perk on everyone, EXCEPT on the killers that actually need Thanatophobia nerf.
Pretty good job so far, BHVR.
-
It didn't use to be.
-
You want BHVR to LISTEN?
You ask for far too much.

I love how launch freddy wasn’t even OP and he got nerfed too, I miss that guy
Exactly!
That situation was so dumb, that for a very long time it was the one Old DBD mystery I could not solve.

And?

I don't know who the Nurse was, but this is probably the first time they encountered good matchmaking in the entire streak if it was an actual comp Nurse. And it was a 3 out. In what universe does this prove Nurse has no counterplay? DbD matchmaking is awful and places little to no space between the top-middle-bottom skill levels. This is a recording.
Agreed.

Look, I can't really speak from experience on this one because I left the Fog prior to the existence of this combo.
However...from what I've read it was nothing but a badly designed aspect of the meta that most people were happy that it was gone.
I am all from bringing stuff back, but this one doesn't seem ideal.

MoM + OoO = old OoO. SWF will feast on always knowing where the killer is.
To be fair, they already can.
The developers changed OoO because it was deemed "unfair", but the information the perk provided was only slightly more precise than what a 4-man SWF already has by default (if they want to really take advantage of it, which most do not).
So, even if those changes go through, the strength of SWF will not change much. Old OoO has always been possible to defeat.
So will this combo.
-
It used to be Brutal Strength on...well, everyone.

@Pulsar said:
if you've got nothing good to say then don't say anything.
No. I love this game and I assume most other people here do as well. I will not be quiet about things I believe to be detrimental to the game's current and future state.
This.
-
Ah, there is something you are forgetting:
Nerfing Freddy one week, ONE WEEK, after his release.
That was so freaking dumb, that to this day I struggle to believe it actually happened. And I am more dedicated to Old DBD than anyone else.
All BHVR do is take, take, TAKE, and they never give anything. And who knows, maybe it is your favorite thing they are going to butcher next!
-
Those situations are indeed unfortunate.
My longest winstreak was with Old Freddy, a long time ago. I don't remember exactly the number of matches, but I do remember how I lost it.
It was because of a key.
-
Based on what I read so far.
By the way, hi! It has been a while.
-
"Does anyone enjoy this map from killer perspective?"
I certainly used to.
It was once a good map for killers.
Now? Nope.
-
We got BHVRed.
Again.
-
I have never seen this combo in action, left the Fog before it became a thing.
However...from what I have heard, it sounds absolutely atrocious to play against it.
I am not sure why they are bringing it back. There are countless things that should be brought back, but this is not one of them.
-

I could agree. Myself, that is how I play. Yet, many never will in that situation, so why do survivors insist on feeding them?
They don't.
No one intentionally WANTS to be tunneled.
People just make mistakes. It is natural.
-
Average BHVR experience, I am afraid.

Staying in a "dangerous area" could easily be defined as "killer came back to the hook and you were there". Running, in that case, is generally not a good idea.
So is your rescuer.
A killer does not have to tunnel in that situation. They can choose to go against the person who rescued you. MYC, perhaps.
This is within the killer's control.
-
@TitanoKing said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3107567#Comment_3107567
I agree, however when survivors unhook right in front of the killer it guarantees they'll be tunneled. The best strategy is to unhook when they're gone (unfortunately MANY survivors can't fathom the idea)
Agreed. This is also the case of a Survivor making a mistake, which can potentially cause tunneling.
Cannot blame the killer if this happens.
-
It is hardly a surprise, to be honest.
-
No, I don't think so.
Tunneling is, and always has been, a strategy. An annoying and looked down upon strategy, but a strategy nonetheless. And, just like every single strategy, is completely optional.
Tunneling has never been caused by Survivors. It is up to the killer to decide whether or not he will tunnel, keeping in mind the situations where tunneling is the only possible move in order to win.
The only situation where tunneling is caused by Survivors is when they make the mistake of refusing to leave a dangerous area, or things like trying to fix a generator you are actively defending.
Outside of those situations, no. Tunneling is 100% within the killer's control.
