To be fair, they've actually gotten a LOT better than it was at release.

I don't really want to spend 20 minutes looking for totems, boring gameplay, I have no problem with insta down perks like huanted grounds or devour hope, them insta downs are earned
Then stop complaining about NOED if you won't spend the time to counter it. It's that simple.
Frankly, i don't understand why it's okay for survivors to stack all the second-chance perks they want to help cover for their mistakes but heavn-forbid the killer puts in a completely counter-able one.
-
I accept people who wait at the exit as a legitimate tactic to try and pull the killer's attention away from who's left in the arena. Just another tool to be used or not used as a player sees fit.
-
I'm a killer main (look up my steam achievements if you don't believe me, I have nothing to hide)
I have no problems with holding W to win from my opponents.
3/4ths of this playerbase is destroyed effortlessly - the occasional smart play is more of a refreshing surprise than an annoyance.

First off who cares second off that's exactly what i just said.
Not the right attitude to have if you want to get your point out there.
If you don't take the time to make your point easy to read, then you don't care enough about what you have to say for the rest of us to give a damn
-
Because the survivor bias doesn't occur until the highest level of play and a majority of the playerbase doesn't play at that level.
Something I wish certain content creator would get through his skull when he prattles on about how unbalanced the game is.
-
Question....
Why do you care what other people say?
Play in a matter that pleases you - that's all that matters.
If you want to camp, do it. If you don't want to camp, don't.
Trying to please the fickle randoms you go up against is just going to lead you to frustration and disappoint.
-
I always figured it was because the original release of Shadowborn became a "must run" given how wide the FoV it used to give. They learned from that point on not to give away to much FOV in subsiquent perks, thus the two we have don't stack.
To be fair though, the original Shadowborn FOV increase was crazy good.

Yeah why do o give tips? 😂 just watch otz.
Trapper isn't my main, so I don't feel qualified to give tips on him. But.... Otz obviously knows his ######### and taught me a few things.
Now, ask me about the Doc and I can write an essay....
-
You need to look up anything Otzdarva has on YouTube about the Trapper. Easily one of the best Trapper's out there and has good guides.
-
Frankly, no matter what they do to gen defense perks - they will always be top pick simply because that's the biggest source of stress killers have. Nerfing them to encourage u sing other things is a losing battle.

Between toxic players constant bugs getting disconnect timer even when I finish a match and behaviors either inability or not wanting to fix bugs that have been a problem since the beginning I can't even bring myself to load up this game any more which is sad because I love this game but apparently all they care about is the money they get for a new chapter fix your game because as of right now it's unplayable
Unplayable....
And yet I've been playing all day.
Look - I get that it has issues. But ffs, I wish people would stop with this hyperbolic nonsense. Certain words like "Toxic" and "unplayable" and "broken" have lost all sense of weight and meaning because people have misused and overused the terms.'
Nobody has any sense of tact or moderation anymore. Everything is "OMGWORSETHING EVER" or "THIS AWESOME".
All sense of wordcraft is completely lost. I think it's time for me to pour another drink....

Did you camp and tunnel though? Try and remember there are others playing who want to have fun. So many killers forget that and ruin the whole game.
Your fun is nobodies responsibility but yours
Devs have said there is no rules against this.
Good luck reporting for this kind of thing, because I'm laying down money it won't be banned.
-
So people hate it when the killer camps and tunnels.
Then they want to nerf the perk that rewards killers who rotate hooks and gives them a reason to leave the hook
This flippin' community.... I swear.
-
They're calling for more on the zombies because on most maps they are a non factor
I've done nothing but survivor all day and exactly 2 times out of the whole day the zombies did something that affected me.... which was drive me off a gen for a bit... THATS IT (and I'm an absolute GARBAGE survivor)
They're weak, easy to deal with and only come into play mid chase when you are distracted. There is just too few of them for the large and open maps that exist.
They're fine for the smaller and more closed in maps like Game and Lery's and so forth - but that's it.
-
I generally roll my eyes and mutter about selfish punks. But I don't let it ruin my night.
As mainly a killer player, I understand how it screws a team. I've had times were a person DC'd on first hit and I decided since the rest of them were so bad to grant everybody an "Extra hook". That is, I'd carry them to the hook, but then drop them on the ground and leave. That was my way of making up for the punk who quit.
I'm not always so nice though - and I don't expect the killer to be nice either. People just need to stop logging in entirely if they don't have the ability to tough out a bad game.
-
I actually picked him up yesterday. Having a LOT of difficulty with him. But.... it's still early, we'll see.
Frankly, I don't think I have to mechanical skill for him.
-
I disagree with #1
Don't dodge ANYTHING. If you aren't in the mood to handle the worst this game dishes out, don't even log in to begin with.
-
If you take butt-dancing personally, you have no business playing multiplayer games.
If people would stop letting the abuse of the crouch key bother them, they'd stop doing it.
-
Size and the openess of the map. Zombies have less effect on maps that have wide-open areas such as cornfields.
More open or large the map, the more zombies should spawn. I'm thinking no more than 6 to start, then adjust based on the data they get back.
-
I don't know what's worse....
People who still believe that BE is dumb enough to believe reports on things that are totally allowed within the confines of the games
Or dumbasses who believe you can report for that to begin with.
Look, I know BE makes mistakes, but they've been pretty lax with their bans even when going through them manually.... what makes people think their system is going to be so strict? If anything, they're going to tailor their system around what they already do in the way of the hand-reviewed reports.
I mean, think about it. If review of certain actors shows that they give off frivilous reports... don't you think they'd build a system that ignores these bad-actors who give off excessive reports?
FFS
-
At the lower ranks, killer sided
However, if everybody in the match knows what they're doing, it's survivor sided
-
I don't farm because I don't learn anything by farming. Only way to get better is to play for real.
I don't mind a few extra points at the end of the match though. But until those gates are open, I'm running wide open
-
I used to tunnel Nea's who wore the zebra pants because they offended my eyes.
But I didn't consider them toxic - just bad taste.
-
Bullying? No.
Acceptable? I'm not against it. You must allow for experienced players to play with their friends. So I always give groups like this the benefit of the doubt.
It's NEVER acceptable for anybody to berate ANYBODY in chat for ANY reason PERIOD
Yes it's happened to me several times. I moved on and don't even remember the names of those who did it. Just another nameless angry person who can be safely dismissed.
-
Like it matters? 3/4ths of this playerbase seems to be allergic to generators anyway.
-
This is what happens when a bunch of people don't play hard and let people farm and rank up even when they don't deserve to - thus setting up a system where red rank is just a matter of time.
Think about that next time somebody lets you farm...
-
Here's how you fix keys
If you bring a key into play, everybody can be moried on first down. Go ahead and remove Moris from the offering pool. remove keys from chests
Fixed.
-
I know I said he's technically right, but I do believe it's starting to get unwieldy
Frankly they need to just do away with perk levels and do away with 2/3rds of the grind. That will make things reasonable for another year or two.
-
I mean, you ain't wrong.
And feeling like i need to unlock the perks via the character has surprised me in which characters I'll like or dislike - so it has it's good points.
I never thought i'd like plague or Demigorgan - but grinding them for their perks taught me I like them.
-
Frankly, I'd just be happy with letting us play any killer we want in the bot match after clearing it. If for no other reason, so that people can get comfortable with the basics of the killer's power before going live.

Hard to be positive when everyone's had to put up with BHVR's BS for the past 5 years and the game has regressed this patch in terms of performance yet again, which was already terrible on console and has been since it launched on there. It's now unplayable for a lot of people. It's fine to act positive but don't go and insult others because they're not sharing the same positivity that you are.
Point to where I insulted anybody please. I insulted nobody at all. If you are offended I'm amused at the fact that certain people on this forum can't take a moment to appreciate a good moment for this game, that's on you and you should maybe reflect on that.
Frankly, I don't understand why people have to come into a thread saying "Hey look, they broke some records" and be a bunch of wet-blankets. We already have a couple dozen negative threads all over this forum complaining about bugs, performance issues, NOED, Campers, looping, and everything else we see regularly.
I'm sorry you all are such a miserable bunch you can't let anybody have a moment of positivity.
-
LOL @ everything I see above. A moment of positivity in this forum is like trying to feed Vampires garlic apparently.
-
Funny, my own experience has shown me that console players are typically better at pounding out their objectives than the PC players. PC players are usually the ones trying to meme or show off.
We really need to stop this "us vs them" mentality against our console cousins. They're still gamer family.
-
I'd probably go with Deathslinger
I know Doc is my boi, but he's not somebody I'd sit down and have a beer with.
But Caleb? He seems like a Whiskey guy like me. So I'd probably knock a few back with him and ask him where he got that kickass duster, because I want one.
-
Gunslinger is not my main, but I REALLY like him. And if he ever got a cosmetic that made him look like Alister Vale during Orden Ogan's "Gunman" album, I'd probably snap it up and switch mains because I played the HELL out the title track years ago.
"The toll of the warning bell
My boots sink in bullet shells
I have become an outlaw, nightmare of the damned
The hangman left the scaffold
I took him out, still blindfold
I made this place a ghost town, painted the lanes red
I'll find you
I'll hunt you down
I'll be your final nightmare"
-
Game already allows for the occasional DC, you just can't make a habit of it.
I myself still DC from time to time - but I make it a personal rule that if I feel like I must do that, I stop playing for the rest of the night as I'm obviously not in the right mental headspace to play anymore. (you have to go in accepting you are sometimes just going to have a bad game and need to just tough it out for the sake of the other players)
I haven't been hit with a DC penalty for months. But, I'm very picky about my mental heaqdspace before I even log in. If I don't feel I can handle what this game can throw at me at it's worst, I just don't play.

How many kills would you need to get to say that? I'm guessing if you said that you probably got a 3 or 4k. If your average drops down to 2k, and more times than not you trying results in a 2k, do you think you will feel the same?
Sorry for the late response.
I'm usually satisfied with a minimum of 2 kills, even if I had to scrape and claw for them. It's rare that I'm happy with a 1k. And most no kills were usually pretty miserable games I had to force myself through.
With MMR, I do expect that I will get zero and 1k's from time to time. But if it lowers the overall complete blowouts (from either side), I'd say it was better than what we have now. (we're still going to get blowouts, regardless of what they do. All we can do is hope they stop being most of our games)
-
You actually already have the ability to open the gates for yourself when the last generator is powered. I personally don't object to the killer being able to open them after certain amount of time is passed and forcing the EGC to start.
-
I don't like facerolls anymore than I like being made felt helpless and out of control of the match.
I'm most engaged when I feel like I have a chance, but I have to work for it.
If I give a team "GG, you guys made me work for that one", I'm usually very happy and pleased with the game.
-
People going easy on their opponents just makes the matchmaker worse than it already is.
and
It's currently impossible to balance the game for high level play without completely screwing over the majority of the playerbase.
-
I feel like this guy is trying to imitate Sluzzy, but is doing it really badly.

I'm not talking about the time it takes to perform the animation. I'm talking about the time you take to go to that location near the start of the match instead of starting the gen hunt, or the distance a survivor makes towards the next tile and how much longer they can loop you for if you didn't neutralize the threat early. 2.6 seconds in a chase is only 2.6 seconds if the survivor stands perfectly still. The only case where a breakable wall actually only takes 2.6 seconds is when you take the risk, don't find anyone that runs to the strong loop area, and patrol the breakable wall spot for the first time when there are no survivors nearby. Then yes, it's just a few seconds to approach the wall and break it.
It's bad design. Breakable walls rarely fall into a happy medium of being something the killer might want up in some situations and might want down in others. 95% of the time, they're something that has to be removed immediately or should never be touched.
I've never watched any video on the subject. My opinion on them being a PITA is wholly from my own gameplay.
If taking a moment to break a god loop destroys the game for you, then you aren't as good as a killer as you think you are.
We are not so strapped for time against most of the playerbase that this is going to be a make or break mechanic for most of the games we play. You are blowing this out of proportion.
-
@Laluzi said:
They're either pointless, or a chore the killer has to perform because they enable a broken loop that shouldn't have been implemented. In most cases they've been used, they're not an interactive mechanic.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2265316#Comment_2265316
It's way more than two seconds. Either you go out of your way to break the wall early, which can be a significant detour, or you risk your first time encountering that wall being in a chase, and the survivor makes significant distance on you while you're stuck breaking it - which ends up being more than two seconds lost unless the survivor really mucks it up.
There are some maps with breakable walls that feel like an actual choice - mainly Badham and Saloon (though Saloon has 3 god loop walls that are mandatory breaks, too, and plenty more you shouldn't be touching.) But for the most part, they're either things you'd rarely/never want to break, or things that shouldn't be there in the first place and you have to go out of your way to break them to be able to play the map.
Less than 3 seconds. 2.6 to be exact. My mistake for making estimations without looking it up and using the word "Literally". I'll own that.
But still, a minor inconvenience we have to deal with so that most of the survivor base (which, lets be honest, is BAD) can have a breather. Because let's face it, the game NEEDS strong loops for the weaker survivors. But we can't let these loops be permanent. This is the best compromise we have.
People need to stop listening to certain streamers that prattle on about "high level play" and look at the big picture.
-
None, I'm still behind at least 3 killers before Nemesis actually drops. My BP is likely going to Blight soon as I finish up Pyramidhead.
-
@lemonsway said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2265281#Comment_2265281
That's the problem itself, you're giving bad survivors a tool that can be exploited by good survivors wich forces killers to have to deal with the wall first instead of teaching bad survivors how to loop, instead of fixing the map so it isn't exploitable.
It's literally 2 seconds out of your match to break a breakable wall. A temporary inconvenience that is being blown out of proportion.

Are any of you using your more oppressive addons right now before the autoban system kicks in soon? I am using up my iridescent heads for huntress and iridescent addons for doc but I just know I will be reported for something stupid like padded jaws basement trapper 😂 and yes a swf reported me for that yesterday telling me in the endgame...I told them they are the ones who went to the killer shack.
Nope. But I'm not Chicken-Little either. So I don't think the sky is falling.
-
I don't get it either to be honest. To me it seems to be a fair compromise between giving weaker survivors a strong place they can use, but preventing the loops to be in play the entire game where they can be abused by the good survivors
Game isn't always about experienced players - you have to give the weaker survivors a place they can catch a temporary breather.
-
this is how I rate them fun-wise
SS tier I generally find fun even if I'm losing badly
Wraith was my first killer, and I never really let go of my love for his ability to be invisible even when he was bad.
Doctor - I'm usually laughing maniacally along with him. Madness runs also runs in my family, so I feel a connection to him.
Plague... I haven't figured out why exactly I like her to be honest. I suck with her pretty bad, but still find her fun. But I can't really pin my finger on why I like her.
S Tier
Pig is a combination of how sadistic her power can be if you want to be, combine that with how adorable she is
Myers was my first red rank killer, and despite how badly he's aged, he still gets reactions out of people.
Demigorgan - I love this howls of rage and how clever placement of his portals can set up nice ambushes.
Deathslinger, I'm a sucker for long coats and I find his power (despite my piss-poor aim) fun to work with.
Trapper is a thinkin' man's killer that rewards good planning and I like that.
A Tier
Oni - Everybody has a dark side, and mine was always my rage until I aged out of. Oni taps into that dark part of me and so it feels familiar. What holds him back from me putting him in S Tier is that I find his power clunky to use.
Pyramidhead - I never played Silent Hill - shocker I know. But... I find the lore surrounding this guy to be fascinating. I find his ability to skip hooks fascinating and like working with it. I also like trying to find ways get get people tormented. I just find his ranged attack clunky and hard to use.
Spirit - It's mostly an aesthetic thing for me in this case. I find using her power to be okay, but I like her mobility more than her anti-loop. I don't play her enough to have much more of an opinion than that.
Anything below that - I just don't find the killers fun to play to various degrees.
Any missing killers are one's I just haven't played yet and thus haven't formed an opinion on them.
-

What don't y'all understand about smurfing? Players will be able to de-rank no matter what system we put in place, so don't act like it's exclusively MMR that allows that to happen.
If somebody wants to smurf given this game's grind... good luck to them.
