no problem lmao, i love reading entirely those patch notes and i have a pretty good reading memory so, glad it helped

It's good to have the extra help, as I'm not a robot and cannot memorize every detail... especially when several questions come in a day.

So thank you for the assistance, it really does solidify any doubts the OP has.

Red Twine does show hook placements, since the hooks come under "killer belongings". And Map + Red Twine would be a viable setup for what Boss is suggesting, since you wouldn't necessarily be playing KYF in the situation OP is describing.

The OP never really specified if this is in a LIVE match or a KYFs match. They only asked if this was possible to do in a general scenario. Since they accepted the answer... its clear that it didn't matter either way, since they can deduce themselves that a Killer constantly chasing one of the 4 SWFs members would kind of ruin the run if the hooks spawned in on a big map with the maximum hooks it could hold.

Regardless, they seem satisfied with what they've been given, which was and is my primary intention to do so.

But besides the OP and the question...

I did not know Red Twine specified "Killer Belongings" as the hooks as well, since as stated above I never use that add-on... mainly because the only time I ever used maps was when I was using a Rainbow map.

And, if you used this in a KYFs, it's a better idea to use a Rainbow Map RATHER than a simple map with a wasted add-on slot to track the hooks. That doesn't mean Boss's idea is terrible, it just means there are better alternatives to use which benefits the SWFs a lot more.

While also not ever using that add-on, at first glance the add-on never specifies that it also tracks the hooks... since its specification is under "Killers Belongings" which could mean many things. Is this the Killers chest? The basement hooks? the hooks themselves? All of the above? I wouldn't know.

Regardless, I was just memeing him anyways, despite being wrong.

If it wasn't in the patch notes, that makes it either a shadow nerf or a bug, and it's impossible for either of us to tell the difference between the two. That was OP's original question - whether the perk was nerfed or just bugged - so they don't really have an answer, but they have the best answer we can give them, which is that, for whatever reason, UP doesn't seem to work on DS currently.

Perhaps a dev might be able to clarify whether this is an intended feature or not, but that's the most we as community members can do.

    image.png

I think this is as official as it gets, since I missed this in the patch notes until Kagari cleared it up. As the balance change states, the debuff does not appear in the HUD (Which it clearly doesn't from the images above) until the debuff is applied.

While this can be interpreted in many ways as intentional or not, it seems to actually be an intended change by the devs. This is further backed up by the fact that the debuff never did apply itself to these actions until you actually worked on generators, healed Survivors, healed yourself, or sabotaged hooks... so it would make sense that the change is centered around the idea that UP only applies to these actions WHEN you're working on them, rather than being a constant "presence" if you will.

As such, the change buffs DS, regardless if that was a part of the initial change or not. So, this is actually an answer for the OP since the change is stated clearly in the 3.4.0 patch notes.

I can agree that the DS buff is unknown on whether it's intentional or not, but the UP change was clearly intended. So what does this mean? It means the answer is a half and half. The DS buff is a by-product of this intentional change to UP, but was this also intentional? That's still unknown.

Isnt it related to this patch note ? I feel like Unnerving Presence now only activates when you work on gen, heal or sabo so DS is not anymore affected.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/634/QS1CJRGKLT9Q.png

Ah, I was looking for specifically it saying "Unnerving Presence" rather than it being in a bunched area... which is usually how I miss some things in the patch notes sadly... since it's usually only said at the END of this bunched area.

Regardless, it's in the patch notes clearly... since it literally says RIGHT THERE that the HUD doesn't show until you start working on something, so DS isn't hit by it since Unnerving Presence only activates when you're working on something now.

Whether that was an intentional buff to DS, or it was a side effect of the change is unknown.

I'd be interested (and I'm sure the wiki editor would, too) in the official source of that information, because the wiki is usually accurate and it says the opposite. This is from the bottom of the "Unnerving Presence" page, which was last updated a bit over a month ago.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/898/2BCCU9577B9P.png

    https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Unnerving_Presence

So yeah, it was nerfed it seems... from the images provided above.

I wouldn't say he was right though Fibijean, since he didn't provide any information on if that was true or not... but that really doesn't honestly matter tbh.

Either way, the OP has their answer!

  • @tdon

Yeah, it was nerfed it seems. I didn't find anything about the nerf on the patch notes (could of clearly missed it) but I did test it in a KYFs to confirm if it was nerfed or not.

    Here's the results

These two images were taken today on 12/18/2019.

    20191228104859_1.jpg image.png 20191228104945_1.jpg

As you can see, Unnerving Presence doesn't activate until I started working on a generator... when i'm not working on a generator, it deactivates itself. So DS doesn't shrink anymore as a result of this change in-game.

Now here's how it looked like before

This image was taken on 9/12/2019. So Unnerving Presence was indeed changed, since before it would show the Unnerving Presence icon when you're in the Killers Terror Radius DESPITE doing nothing before... but now in the newer images above, it no longer shows the image when you're in the Killers Terror Radius doing nothing. You need to now be on a generator, healing someone, or breaking a hook for Unnerving Presence to activate IN the Killers Terror Radius.

Unnerving Vs DS (Old).jpg Unnerving Presence DS Skill Check.png

    in conclusion (and your answer)

Yes, it was nerfed. If it's in the patch notes than... there you go. If it isn't, than it must of been "shadow nerfed" or something. The images prove this to be true, so there you go.

He's saying that Red Twine allows you to track the hooks with the Map, which you can then communicate with your friends over voice chat. Not that Red Twine itself communicates hook locations.

But if Red Twine only tracks the Killers belongings, than how does it track hook placement?

I assume Red Twine defines "Killer belongings" as the Killers basement chest, but I guess it can also mean the hooks as well... so he wasn't wrong if that's the case.

I never use Red Twine anyways, since the Rainbow Map tracks the hooks auras by default, so it just makes that add-on useless in comparison I guess... plus it saves add-on space AND this is mostly done in a KYFs, so.

One says "Killers belongings" and the other (Rainbow Map) actually says "Hooks" in its description... so... can be confusing. It never outright says it tracks hooks, but it never says it doesn't either lol.

But yeah, it confused me since you'd naturally use a Rainbow map in a KYFs since it doesn't matter... right? Saves an add-on slot and lets you use the Jelly and Crystal Bead to let people see the auras WHILE having the charges last longer.

  • @Boss said:

    Probably.

You might want to have 1 guy with a Rainbow Map though, or Map + Red Twine, so they can communicate the locations of Hooks.

"or Map + Red Twine, so they can communicate the locations of Hooks."

I'm relatively new, and the guy saying I was exploiting was lvl 16 or something, so I'm guessing that you guys are right and he just doesn't know how Killer Instinct works, xd He was hiding and I kept running straight towards him, I bet he just thought I had maphacks or something.

That's probably why yea... I've grabbed people out of lockers that didn't know this before, but I've never been accused of exploiting from a Feral Frenzy grab before lmao.

It just seems like he's new and doesn't know about the ability yet. So he just jumped to the conclusion, rather than just checking if you had an ability that lets you know about Killer Instinct. Just sounds like a misunderstanding to me is all.

Thank you for the tips, guys, I removed the screenshot and my steam profile link. I didn't think, I was a little panicky! I feel a lot better now that they were probably trying to scare me, I was scared I was doing something wrong without realizing. Hugs to both!

The BP exploit wasn't even mentioned by the accuser. The only person that mentioned it was what seemed to be a random person who was just making a suggestion as to what the accuser could possibly be referring to. Contextual clues make me think that that's not even what the accuser themselves was talking about, so I think the real issue is something completely different and the "BP exploit" part is largely irrelevant.

Who knows honestly, their profile has nothing on it anyways... (the OPs from their link) and the images provided don't really show anything else to tip us off to something.

It just shows us the post-chat box and that's it, if it had something to do with the stats or perks or add-ons than we'd need the full image with everyones names cut out for obvious reasons.

I also went off of what the other accuser said to get an idea of what they mean, since they also could be skeptical to whatever fishy thing that happened... which we have no information on since we weren't there.

What an... interesting claim by the accuser I guess? The OP shouldn't really be worried about it, since if they know they weren't exploiting than they'll be fine.

  • @Fibijean said:

First off, best to censor the others' names out of those screenshots, since your post may reflect badly on them.

Secondly, I don't really know what they're talking about either. If you have screenshots of the earlier parts of the chat that could be helpful. Your profile is private, so unless they're your friends, there's no information they could have got from there. Given that, my guess would be that they're talking out their rear end and just trying to scare you.

Either that, or they're mistaken, which is not uncommon - sometimes survivors don't understand how certain killer perks or mechanics work (Legion's Killer Instinct is a common example of this) and so they assume the killer must be using hacks.

Either way, if you know you didn't use an exploit, you have nothing to worry about when it comes to getting banned. The devs won't ban anyone if there is any doubt whatsoever that they are innocent, and since you didn't do anything wrong there's no way he could have gathered sufficient evidence to get you punished. So don't worry, you're fine!

The concept of a "BP exploit" is subjective, since they didn't specify what he did anyways. And by subjective, I mean the forums and anywhere else has had many documented reports that're under the name "BP exploit."

From what I found, they're either talking about duping BPs... which makes no sense and how would you even know they're doing that anyways? Or they're talking about some exploit from around 2018 to early 2019 that allowed you to cancel everyones progress by DCing... I think? And than it would remove their items and BPs... or something?

I don't honestly know, because they didn't explain anything in the post-chat. They just said "EXPLOIT" and basically left... while also apparently saying they submitted a report when the game ended... somehow...?

(Both of these examples don't really have any documented proof of existing... so... idk).

  • @lunadelpalmar

I wouldn't give out your steam profile link on the forums, despite it not really doing anything anyways. Regardless, this post doesn't really make any sense. (I'd also censor their names in the image)

From my knowledge there is no "BP" or "BPS" exploit that's well known or even known to exist at this time, and your steam profile doesn't show anything that would indicate this. It doesn't even show anything at all, so I don't see why adding it matters.

And no, there isn't a bug related to those perks. I honestly don't know why they reported you or why they think you're exploiting DESPITE losing the match lol...

    basically...

Just ignore it, it doesn't even make sense that they reported you in the first place.

  • @Boss

For their power? Hands down it USED to be The Pig with Hangman's Trick and Surveillance. But Surveillance was buffed to be actually pretty good at Red Ranks now, and Hangman's Trick is the only perk she has that isn't really helpful honestly...

There are also Killers like Demogorgons Cruel Limits that does... hardly anything noteworthy, or The Clowns Coulrophobia, which basically doesn't hinder nor help him since it works with any Killers power (Except GF, Myers, Pig Crouching, and Wraith cloaked) but isn't exactly something that boosts his.

But if I had to say who has the worst teachable perks that don't really add anything to their powers? It would have to be either Huntresses Territorial Imperative or The Hags Hex: Third Seal. Hex: Third Seal really doesn't help The Hag or any Killer for that matter... except it used to for The Pig I think? (I never really found information on if the Billy boxes auras were blocked by Third Seal... so... idk 100%) and Territorial Imperative is for someone like LeatherFace that benefits from Survivors being in the basement, for The Huntress it doesn't really do much if you're either moderately far or decently close either... since the shack will block your hatch throws.

Even building that have the basement sometimes will still block the hatchet throws, and if you're not there to get on top of it, than you'll never make it to down both the Survivors or maybe even one... depending on the map honestly. Having the maps depend on if the perk helps the Huntress is why I think it's tied with The Hags Hex: Third Seal.

So for me personally, The Hags and Huntresses 2 bad perks are the worst for them, either that or M&A that literally works against The Doctors power lol.

I wasnt actually GOING for it or anything, Ive just been running iron will alot and got use to being injured a decent amount without immediately feeling the need to get healed.

I mean hey, least you got it to get it over with... despite not actively going for it. The achievements bugged, but that doesn't mean if you're constantly injured and healing someone... that you won't get it!

It just sometimes doesn't count progress, like some other achievements struggle with. I suppose it has something to do with the healing mechanic as a whole or something.

I assumed you both used the gamepedia wiki and thought it was reputable, since it's the one you linked in your post.

I didn't really think too hard about if the DBD wiki is the gamepedia wiki.

Regardless, I only really used it for the confirmation that Minimum to Maximum hook spawns exist, I did the rest of the tests myself to figure out what those roughly were.

I now see what you mean by it displaying these numbers, so that was in-general a waste of time to do. But I still did it regardless to get him his answer, so...

It's basically the same information I gave above, except some maps have a higher minimum than others, and their max hook spawns can be 12 or 11. Says here Azarov's can be 12, Mother's 13, etc. But that wasn't entirely the point of why I even got those figures, it was just to prove to him what IS and ISN'T possible in-game because of these minimums and maximums that can happen through RNG.

Long story short, if you 99% literally all the hooks, most of these can be done with 4 people easily. If you do this without preparations, blindly, and with only that perk, it's less do-able because of map size and awareness of where the hooks spawned. And the obvious one that's the RNG is random so...

  • Sometimes working for others isn't really a 100% confirmation that the achievement is fixed. It can still be completed anyways, but it just takes away because of that.

But it's good you still got it done, despite how... slow some of the achievements can be because of this.

Just for the record, you can find information about the minimum and maximum hook numbers on a per-map basis on each map's page on the gamepedia wiki.

    I don't use that wiki, so I wouldn't know.

I only use the DBD Wiki and mostly official information here on the forums/other official information from BHVR created sites and or reputable areas... like the DBD Wiki for example. Of course anyone can find out this information with enough man-power and time, so I don't doubt that they also have a solid grasp of the minimum to maximum range of hook spawns in each map... but I don't bother using anything else, mainly because it isn't reputable.

(Or at least it isn't reputable to my knowledge, you can argue if it is or not).

  • @slipttees said:

Yes. I do need to be broken or just injured?

Either one works. Being Broken still makes you injured... since you can't heal from being broken. And being Injured also works as well, since it's the primary thing that's required for this achievement.

So you can use No Mither for this, which is what I did to complete this challenge... or you can just get hit and than 99% your health until you need to heal for a chase. To 100% make sure you get the maximum amount of chances to heal someone, i'd just use No Mither for the whole thing.

At least that's how I personally feel. It's up to you in the end, so you can do whatever.

  • @slipttees said:

This bug fixed? We need broken or only injured?

I skimmed through both the PC and PS4 Patch Notes for 3.4.2. No, nothing was listed there that this issue has been fixed.

The achievement itself is random with what's acceptable as progress and what's not. So you can still do the achievement, but some things might not count towards it.

Did you just accept your own answer to your question XD

    I question why that's even a feature...

Kinda weird, I wonder if it even counts towards the "Answers" badge. That'd be... interesting if it did.....

  • I just wave randomly, whether you interpret that as "the Killer is camping" or "hurry up and save me" is entirely subjective and up to anyone you're teamed with.

Sometimes I do it to signal "hurry up and save me." but for the most part I just do it to give me something to do...

  • @johnmwarner

Sadly, some Survivors/Killers do this for "ez wins" as some say. Either it's for their own amusement, or they actually can't handle the higher rank brackets. This is cause of skill or other reasons, but either way... if you're set at the rank, you shouldn't derank because you simply don't like it.

It's unfair to other Killers/Survivors that have to face you, since they're either not as skilled or fairly new to the game... and being pinned up against a higher tiered Killer/Survivor team can be quite a bad first impression for some newer players.

But you can't really DC anymore to do this, so we should see a lot less of it from now on... (when the DC penalty system is fully implemented)

  • @ocafghanistan

Fibijeans right, but maps like "The biggest" being Mother's Dwelling or "the longest" being Azarov's Resting Place... it could take more time. Maps like "The Game" and Hawkins are 100% do-able with even some extra time... maybe.

You have to factor in if the Killer stops you mid-way, if this is just a KYFs test, etc. If this is a KYFs test, than you should easily be able to make it to each base length of each hook before the 3 minute respawn timer... since it's literally 4 people doing it all at once, taking up sections of the map.

The respawn is a flat 180 seconds, so it's about like... 3 and a quarter minutes.

Source of hook respawn timer: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Hooks

    But is this actually do-able?

Well, despite me always testing this in a KYFs, having 4 people including me to help is not easy to find... especially when it's like 5AM lol...

If it was breaking hooks one by one without the previously established 99%... than no way would you be able to do this in under 3 and a quarter minutes... If you had the 99% grace break, than yes, you'll do this.

Off of opinion, you can do this, off of actual proof, I cannot give you this at this time or really find that proof anywhere.

You can either take our word for it or not, but I doubt anyone else has the manpower to do it i'm afraid... maybe I could if it wasn't 5AM, but even than I might not have 4 people to be willing to waste that much time to find out.

so... you answer is kind of meh... but... here's why it's true

An opinionated answer is not always 100% wrong, and here's why.

Since version 2.5.0, each map features a minimum to maximum amount of hooks that spawn. It's no longer a random amount of hooks, so there's a set amount of hooks that DO spawn. And, it also depends on the distance (for base-kit) between each hooks spawn, so the maps size also plays a factor into this... which makes the minimum amount of hooks that spawn come into effect.

I did have someone help me test this in-game, by counting the smallest maps hooks to the "biggest" maps hooks. I even had them do the "longest" maps, and redo the "biggest" maps to see if anything changed!

    Here's the results:

The Game (13 Hooks in the entire map)

    Hook Count 2.jpg

Mother's Dwelling "First Count" (9 Hooks in the entire map)

    Hook Count 1.jpg

Azarov's Resting Place (8 Hooks in the entire map)

    Hook Count 3.jpg

Mother's Dwelling "Second Count" (13 Hooks in the entire map)

    Hook Count 4.jpg

    my final ANALYSIS

The minimum amount of hooks seem to be around 7 to 8 for larger/longer maps like Azarov's and Mother's Dwelling... but they can actually reach up to 13 hooks!

It seems to be that the max amount of hooks in any map is around 13, but it might even go up to 14! From all the tests, it's only ever been 13.

What does this mean? Well, your answer is basically this

The hook spawns are based off of RNG it seems, and a minimum amount of hooks do exist for each map... this minimum seems to be 7 to 8, while the max is about 13.

Meaning, at the minimum, you'll 100% break all 7 to 8 hooks with 4 people, hands down 100% for sure. If it's 13 hooks... it might be do-able, but that's unknown. If it's on a map like The Game, you'll do it with 13 hooks due to the size!

If it's a map like Mother's Dwelling, you'll be able to hit the minimum yes, but the maximum hook spawns for a map that big? That's unknown. If each player takes up a quadrant of each section of the map, and plan this out, than you should be able to break every hook before the 3 and a quarter timer respawns the first broken hook.

If you did this on 99% broken hooks of course, if this was for hooks that had no progress done... than you might do it for The Games minimum hook spawns, but not something like Mother's Dwelling or Azarov's, I don't personally think so.

    additional information

Also, the minimum for small maps like The Game might be bigger than other maps like Mother's Dwelling... but it seems the hook spawns are rather small or big, depending on the RNG.

So are the minimum for big or small maps the same? That's unknown. Is the maximum the same? From these tests, that seems to be the case yes! So could the minimum be the same for every map? I'd say personally yes.

  • @edogast

We also did this entire test in another question (me and Fibijean) and the amount of tiers you'd get is like... 33 or 34? I don't remember if it's either 33 or 34.

But basically, you'd get that many tiers and it depends on the 800 EXP Rift Fragments you'd get while also doing the challenges... which is even more math.

But to make this simple, just do what Fibijean said, if you pace yourself while and not get to tier 70 before completing the challenges... than you'll make the most out of easy Rift Fragment grabs. Since that's 100x better than just rushing to tier 70 from regular 800EXP matches, which you won't get 800EXP for each match... more like 600EXP... so... yeah, more math, another discussion.

So yeah, just pace yourself for the next Rift. It makes it a lot easier and more chill.

  • @JedsRaze

My internet clocks at about 700MBs-400MBs I believe? At least that's from what the package claims... before, my download speeds at 2MBs or 1.5MBs... with the actual download speed being 600KBs if i'm lucky.

But thanks to an upgrade to our internet, 1GB now only takes less than 5 minutes. But here's the thing, despite 700MBs or 400MBs being your download speed, the real download speed is subjective... depending on if you're connected to a LAN line from your Router to your PC, or if you're going off of Wifi that's far away or close.

Going off of a google download speed test, my download speed is about 17MBs per second. The upload speed... didn't really come up for some reason, but I don't really need that for this question. And since Steam isn't the greatest for downloading files for... some reason... this could be less or the same depending on if anyone else is using the internet (which my internet ignores) or how your internet handles Steams file downloads.

    basically...

With my old DSL 3MBs download speed with Steam download reducing that to 600KBs... it used to take me about idk... 2-3-4 hours to download 1 GB? If my memory is correct. If you're using a 50MB wifi connection while downloading from steam... it'll prolly take you like, 1-2-3 hours? Since my DSL used a LAN line as well from the Router to PC... despite being a terrible download speed in-general... and since you're using Wifi to do this, it might be worse or the same... maybe.

But basically, you'll be there for a bit... but not all day no... it never took me ALL DAY to download 1 GB, which is usually the update size...

But... you're downloading 30 or 15 GBs... depending on if you're downloading DLC or just the base-game... maybe it's less, or 30-15, I don't know for sure. But I know this, if it does that 30-15, or even 10 or 5, you'll be there for more than a few hours... depending on if that 50 MBs is the download speed... or the internet package speed, and converting that to Steams download speed will reduce it.

If it's 50MBs of download speed, than you'll 100% be more than fine lmao... but I doubt that since that would mean that Cafe has like a 1GB download speed package, which I highly doubt.

So you'll probably get like 5MBs of download per second from 50, or 3, and converted to steam makes it like... 2 or 1? or 3?

I mean, than it would be a lot easier to gain tokens for Killers that don't camp or tunnel. The tokens would be easier to gain, and as such you'd get the full 8 stacks a lot faster.

I see no down-side to this for Killer, but for Survivor it would be a nightmare for the Plague builds... kinda... not really, cause if you can consistently down Survivors, than this isn't a huge OP change.

This change... doesn't really do much of anything tbh. (Not to sound rude, it just doesn't really add much of anything if you already down people normally).

That's from ingame. And I still have the word "radius" on Focus Lens and Power Bulb addons. You don't see that ingame? How could that be?

They could've just missed the description changes for the other add-ons, it happens sometimes.

It isn't really that big of a deal, if both mean the same thing than it should be find, just going off the most recent change should give you an idea of what it actual means.

That should be good enough tbh.

Plus, there was a LIVE stream about it, as said by Fibijean above. So it's pretty much 100% confirmed that they're still working on it... I wouldn't see why they would abandon it in the first place, but it's good to have confirmation.

  • @Boss

From a technical and literal stand-point, DBD has never shown "battle damage" or physical/visible wounds on it's Survivors after being downed and or hit...

So, since being hit by a literal hammer doesn't cause visible damage to Survivors... neither does a "hole" in the side of your shoulder shows up after being unhooked from a meat hook... despite making sense.

But... from a more realistic stand-point, it's a game and that never really was added in during development I suppose... it would be cool to see how many hooks a Survivor has from visible damage or something, or if they've been downed before from bandages and or slash/hammer marks showing on their clothes/body. But everything has limitations, and I don't think that was considered before.

    I think... I don't really know, i'm not a dev.

From a meme stand-point though, they just walk it off...

I wouldn't say it's always toxic, I've met some very nice people in post-chat.

(The answer is yes, it's above the same size as a regular skill checks Great skill check... but this skillcheck doesn't have a "good skill check" ring to back it up, so it can actually be very hard to hit... but still do-able!)

  • @ocafghanistan

It depends on the maps size and if the Killer is anyone besides Wraith, Pig Crouching, Tier l Myers, and GhostFace in NightShroud.

If they have the undetectable status effect, than you won't see them period. You will get notified from the OoO light turning on... since it'll turn into a pocket Spine-chill if they look in your direction. But otherwise no, if they have the undetectable status effect on, than you won't see them WHEN it's on.

but besides that, here's some info

Would you see a Killer with a base 32 Terror Radius like... Trapper... across the map with OoO and 4 open handeds...

Well, you can see Trappers aura at the farthest range of 72 Meters with tier lll Object of Obsession. At 32 meters (his Terror Radius), OoO turns off... since you're in his Terror Radius, which turns off Object of Obsession.

But that's base Tier lll OoO against a regular Killer, if you added 4 Open Handeds into the mix than the results are quite different. Open Handed doesn't hard-cap at 24 Meters with OoO, like it does with Kindred... so, 4 max tier Open Handeds with a Tier lll Object of Obsession would yield a aura reading range of 104 that turns off at 32 (because of the base 32 Terror Radius that Trapper has).

So, on maps like "The Game" you'll easily see the Killer from one end to the other, even without 4 Open Handeds. For a map like say Mother's Dwelling (Considered to be the longest map) you'll probably almost make it from one point to the other with OoO Tier lll and 4 Open Handeds.

    my explanation to this...

For one, that map is considered to be the longest map (or at least the biggest) with a size in square tiles of 188, and a size in m^2 of 12,032.

While i'm not the greatest at measurements, this is the largest map of any other map... including Rotten Fields. Now, Empathy originally had a range of "Unlimited" which reached one end to the other of any map in the game. This was changed to 128 meters, but surprisingly enough, this wasn't actually a nerf to the perks aura reading.

This means 128 meters can hit point A to point B on any map in DBD. So, does 104 meters of range with OoO and 4 Open handeds also read from point A to point B on a map like Mother's Dwelling?

My first findings for the "largest map"

For one, we tested the aura reading of Empathy on two maps... the "largest map" Mother's Dwelling, and the "longest map" Azarov's Resting Place.

From the farthest corner of Mother's Dwelling, the aura of Empathy stops literally an inch from one of the Survivors corners, right before they even make it to that side (by this I mean hugging the corner)

OoO Test 1.jpg OoO Test 2.jpg OoO Test 3.jpg

The first image was going off of some estimates when moving forward and adding "phantom" meters that we couldn't really get... since we didn't have 4 people with Open Handed to test this with.

Regardless, we found that the "largest maps" max meters from one corner to the other (the longest corners from each other) was 129-130 meters. We also tested this with the other corners, and came to the same conclusion... the maps longest corners (both corner sets) span about 129-130 meters... this doesn't mean the entire map is 129-130 meters in a circle, it's from corner to corner, not wall to wall.

Now my 2nd findings for the "longest map"

Next, we tested Empathys 128 aura reading on the "longest map" in DBD. We came to the conclusion that Wall to Wall aura reading reached 128 and than some... but Corner to Corner was a different story...

OoO Test 4.jpg OoO Test 5.jpg OoO Test 6.jpg OoO Test 7.jpg

The first two images was Wall to Wall, Empathy reached both ends without an issue. Than came Corner to Corner... and the results for this was quite different.

For one, the 3rd image was from my Wall (Moving a bit forward) to my friends corner (the farthest corner in the map). This is where the Aura for Empathy just about ends... Than, when it came to Corner to Corner, the Aura reading was very far from each other.

This means from Corner to Corner, the Aura Reading is exceeded! Which ALSO MEANS that the "longest maps" Corner to Corner is about 128+ Meters or from a rough estimate... 140+ or so.

What does this all mean? Well here's the answer... (it's very interesting)

This means that if Empathy cannot reach the farthest corner (hugging the corners from the largest map) in Mothers Dwelling... than OoO as the Obsession with max tier Open Handeds at 104 Meters will for sure not reach it either... since it's 24 meters off from Empathys 128.

So for your answer, no, OoO with 4 Open Handeds will not show the Killers aura from any part of the Longest and Largest maps... key word (any part). Meaning in a practical use in-game, it'll for sure show their Aura constantly from outside of their Terror Radius.

But, if we're talking ANY position of those maps or similar maps with that length, it'll not make it. And since Rotten fields come close to Mother's Dwelling, that map will always show their aura on any spot... maybe not Corner to Corner since the map is more rounded, but any other spot yes.

and an additional answer that's very INTERESTING!

I go back to DBD wikis description of Empathy... it states and I quote "It should be noted, that changing Tier III from unlimited to 128 metres is not a nerf, no Map is large enough to have a larger distance in-between two points."

Going off of this info, the quote is technically not wrong in some cases... from Wall to Wall on most maps, this is the case for sure. For Corner to Corner, scraping every inch together... every meter... the "unlimited" aura reading, or 128 meters doesn't reach some of these Corner to Corner points... as proven above!

Meaning, the "Unlimited" description of Empathy was never Unlimited! Since it states that the aura reading was not a nerf... but it doesn't really say if the aura reading is the same either! So, technically it's unknown if the "unlimited" description was always 128 meters or no... since nobody ever bothered to really test this (it would seem).

Plus, the DBD Wiki isn't an official statement, so there's that as well.

    my sources

Object of Obsession (Same info in-game): https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Object_of_Obsession

    Empathy (Same info in-game): https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Empathy

Map Sizes (Info is not in-game): https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Realms#Autohaven_Wreckers

The last link is subjective, since it's not an official statement BUT DBD Wiki has not really been proven as wrong yet. Either way, it's not an official statement... so it's unknown if Mother's Dwelling or Azarov's Resting Place is the "longest" and "biggest" maps. Mother's being the biggest, and Azarov's being the longest.

This information is widely accepted as truth by the community, but I can't find official information on if this is true... this info might be taken from an official statement or official charts, and I wouldn't know.

  • @mightymorphinjustin

What the Killer did was... distasteful yes, but there was a "definite end" to the match. What I mean by "definite end," is that there was a for sure end to your match in the foreseeable future...

This means despite being t-bagged until you got hooked or killed by the bleed-out, you still would've died from either of the two... despite it taking a bit of time. If for example, they trapped you in a corner and than left the monitor to go get take out, than that would be "holding the game hostage" which has no foreseeable end to it. This is because it's unknown when they'll return, if they'll DC, or if they'll kill you after 5 hours of sitting there.

The only thing keeping you there is you, since you can DC anytime you want... but it's still seen as "holding the game hostage" since you're forced to do nothing BUT DC to escape that ordeal. Something like downing you and than t-bagging you until you bleed out or get hooked on 1 second from bleed out isn't "holding the game hostage." Mainly because of the thing I said above, there was a definite end. You would of either died from bleed-out or died from being hooked... if you were body-blocked in a corner by the Killer, than it's unknown when the game would end.

    anyways, here's your options.

You can report the player in-game for trolling and than try to pursue it with a follow up ticket to the support team. But if you were expecting a permanent ban or temp-ban, than that's up to the devs to decide.

Do I personally think they would get banned for this? No. Because they technically didn't really break any rules... you still died either way, despite it taking so long. And while I apologize for that experience, it's still not grounds for a ban.

Besides all that, here's the support link

As stated above, if you want to pursue this with a support ticket, than here's the support link: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

If you didn't report them in-game first though, than don't bother submitting a support ticket... since an in-game report is mandatory.

  • @DizMan2010

how to change your profile image

To change your profile picture, you'll need to click the "cog" icon in the top right hand corner of the forum page. There, once the pop up comes up, you'll want to click "Edit Profile."

Once that page comes up, on the right hand side under your image (and email that's private to you), click the option "Change my Picture." It's also located above your badges in its own box on that page.

    a question you might ask

Once you click that, you can choose from an assortment of pictures to use as your profile picture. You might also ask "But what about your image? Or an image like Mandytalks?" Well, my image is a standard issued image for either the "Forum User of the Month" or one of the Trusted members. I'm a Trusted member, you can see from the tag next to my name that says "trusted." Some other forum users might have the red background image, but no trusted tag... that means they were given the image as a reward for being the "forum user of the month" for that month it was given to them.

As for a custom image like Mandytalks, images that're custom are only for the moderators/devs of the DBD forums.

another way to change your profile image

Also, instead of doing the first thing above, you can also change your profile image by going to your profile (simply click your image in the top right hand corner to go to your profile page) and than click the "blue man with the arrow pointing down" to the left of your current image on your profile page.

Once clicked, it'll drop down a tab that'll give you the option to "edit profile." Once clicked, the rest follows the same pattern as the first explanation above.

well the thing is tunneling and camping like i said, i dont mind, but what about slugging and leaving all 4 survivors on the ground until they're nearly completely bled out, then hooking them in the last 2 odd mins before they all die?

Slugging isn't bannable, and neither is what he's doing at the end I'm afraid.

It falls under the category of a "definite end." Meaning despite it taking so long, there was an end to your match. Now you can argue that a game lasting 5 hours from a Killer holding it hostage and than finally DCing is a "definite end," but what they mean by a definite end is that there's a for sure death for the Survivors in short or decent amount of time.

Holding the game hostage means there's no definite end. This is because it's unknown how long you'll be there, unless you force a DC to leave the match...

You could've reported him for bad sportsmanlike conduct and or trolling/griefing, but its debatable if they'll ban him for that... and if they did, it wouldn't be permanently.

It would more or less just catalog him as "that" type of player... so they might keep an eye on him after the report.

If you didn't report him in-game, than there's nothing you can do sadly... in-game reports are mandatory for follow up support tickets. It might not be for every ticket, but most that involve in-game bans require an in-game report to further pursue.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/115225/wow-okay-so-the-killer-adept-achievements

The only achievemnt that is too hard is, imo, not an Adept.

Evil Incarnate, Kill All 4 Survivors Using a Tombstone.

PWYF, NOED, BloodWarden, M&A (Optional) or Ruin.

NOED gives a speed boost when all 5 gens are done, PWYF can gain 3 speed boost tokens when breaking chases with the obsession. This works well with this achievement since you're not actually attacking anyone until you're in Tier lll to mori them.

Blood-Warden for a last resort mori on the last 2 Survivors, and Ruin because it's ruin... if left alone it'll keep generator progress from happening... unless the Survivors can hit Great Skill checks constantly.

Also, use "The Game" or Lery's offering, both maps are amazing for Myers stealth and can make for easy stalks around corners. You can also try Hawkins, but the best map for this is "The Game."

  • @Multiplenames

    Recently? No. In-general? Yes.

Some Survivors are just naturally toxic to others for some reasons... and than they're just toxic for absolutely no reason. While I'm sorry for the inconvenience this brought, this still isn't a bannable offence (the "making it your goal to ruin peoples games" part, not the highly racist things he was saying in post-game... that is actually bannable!)

But yeah, tunneling and or camping Survivors to ruin their game isn't bannable, since it follows under the argument that camping/tunneling is a strategy for Killers to do. While that's not bannable, targeting specific Survivors in-game is actually reportable! But the thing is, this Killer wasn't doing that, it just seems like they were actively ruining anyone's matches, not just a specific player.

But, making those comments at the end of the game, especially the very offensive term they used... is reportable, and I advise you also follow up with a ticket submission as well if you haven't already done so.

Here's the support link again for context: https://support.deadbydaylight.com

Otherwise, is camping/tunneling bannable? No. Is ruining any Survivors match also bannable? No. If they did something like... block you in a corner and didn't move, than went to get fast food for 2 hours... than that's bannable. If they make... those types of comments in post-chat, than that's reportable. If they're actively rude and or offensive to you with swears and such in post-chat, than you can also report that.

But is random camping/tunneling to Survivors they don't know bannable? While also camping/tunneling them to death? No. Unless they did other actions that are actually bannable, than it isn't bannable i'm afraid.

Also, here's the game rules link again for context: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system#latest

You'll find all the information you need in the game rules link, if you haven't done so already. If you did report them for the post-chat comments they made with the offensive lingo, than please do follow it up with a support ticket. If you didn't report them in-game, than there isn't much you can do i'm afraid.

In-game reports are mandatory, so if you didn't report them for that post-chat comment, than there isn't much you can do now.

  • @Aztreonam78

PTB dates are fairly random, as said above, the "14 days left" doesn't mean the PTB is coming in 14 days... that's just for the end of that Rift and soon after the new Rift will begin.

PTBs are usually backed up by an official response as well, so unless an official response is made... than the PTB isn't coming yet.

Are you reading it in-game or on another website?

    Based on the Wiki page:

"A wide lens made of unscratchable sapphire that optimises the power and range of the light beam.

    • Slightly increases Flashlight Beam range.
    • Moderately increases Flashlight Beam width.
    • Moderately increases Flashlight Beam brightness.
    • Moderately increases Blindness duration."

The only "Slightly increases Flashlight Beam" says "Range". Range means maximum distance from which you can blind the Killer.

And on that same website, it shows only "width". "Radius" was the old wording, which is not in-game anymore.

That's probably where he's getting it from.

The values for "moderately" and "slightly" is subjective, and unless it's on the DBD wiki... than the actual values isn't really known.

But since the add-on is quite old, i'm sure the values already exist on the DBD wiki, but he seems to be confused with the old terminology.

  • But he has no alternatives so... this is mostly true!

Well... he does, but I hardly see them.

I think the outfit the sheep skin jacket comes with is hideous, but I do think the jacket all by itself is decent looking.

If you pair it with the L4D pants... it's pretty cool imo.

That and the goatee Jake face, but that's just my opinion on it lol.

  • @Toastyy

There are no "infinite" loops in DBD anymore, infinites are just a word people use for very strong loops. Yes, at a time there were infinite loops in this game that were impossible to catch up to, but those loops are now not infinites... thanks to nerfs and or bloodlust.

But here's a list of the strongest loops as of this current version of DBD (I may leave some out for the sake of time)

    • Ironworks of Misery Window (This loop is considered to be the strongest loop, so you'll need to be familiar with this loop before you decide if it's worth chasing the Survivor doing it... it's best to avoid the loop if the Survivor DOES know how to use it).
    • Cow Tree (A loop that has many dead cows strung up on a tree in the cold-wind maps)
    • Killer Shack (Which is on every map except Meat Plant, and Hawkins).
    • Rancid Abattoir Window (This maps "infinite" window loop depends on RNG, but one window is always open in that build that's considered a strong loop).
    • Fractured Cowshed Windows (Again, depends on RNG for the window spawns... but these windows are not that strong compared to Ironworks as an example).
    • Coal Tower Window (Any of the window spawns requires you to vault the window in a chase)
    • Groaning Store House Window (Depends on the window spawns, but this isn't that big of a loop surprisingly)
    • Disturbed Ward Loop (The entire building has windows and pallets that're relatively safe for the most part, this loop requires a lot of brute force chasing against a good Survivor that can manipulate them all to the fullest)
    • Suffocation Pit Window (Not the strongest... nor is it that big of a deal to face, but it can waste a few seconds if used correctly... or not depending on the Survivors skill with the pallets around the building)

And that's kind of it, there are more but this is some examples of what to be aware of. Window loops like Ironworks of Misery or Rancid Abattoir (the good window spawn) really depend on you just brute forcing it in a chase...

Most of the time though, if they know how to use the loop and do so to the fullest, than it's not worth chasing them. Just break off the chase and move on, it's only a good idea to continue the chase if they clearly don't know how to use it to the fullest... so spend only like 10 or 20 seconds on it before you can decide if its worth it or not.

The rest of these loops like Disturbed Ward require a lot of brute force chasing to destroy the pallets... than the only thing good about that building is the windows, which can be circumvented with some simple mind-games and or jumping off the top of the building onto the other-side.

Cow-Tree can be mind-gamed at the window by simply flashing your light around the corner and than moonwalking to the other side of the window, if they're too smart for it than just make them waste the pallet to make the loop a lot easier...

Suffocation Pit has a decently strong window depending on the spawn, but both of them are pretty tame compared to the top-tier loops above.

Groaning Store house really just depends on if they know how to use the good window that spawns in it, if they don't than it's an easy loop... if they do than it depends on if you personally have time to brute force the chase.

Coal Tower requires you to vault the window in the chase... so if they have balanced landing for the 2nd part, than it's easier to chase them after because of the BL nerf, but the window can break chases a lot... depending on the situation.

This is the best I can provide in terms of "tips"

But I will provide a video that will teach you a lot about the basic tiles in-game AND even bring up some of these tiles that I mentioned above... it's good to watch this video to familiarize yourself with a lot of the basic tiles that come with every map.

And it can even help you tackle some of the bigger tiles on if it's worth the chase or not!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6QYjInzLeM&t=18s

    Good Luck!

Sometimes you gotta play a bit scummy. I just got the challenge a few games ago as Pig. I got Disturbed Ward and the basement was in the killer shack and I got two potatoes who went down near the shack and their teammates didn’t save them. I downed a baby Claudette in shack and crouched in a corner and waited for the Meg to come for the save. She saw me and Sprint Bursted away. I downed her in the main building and I kept having her wiggle free until I got her close enough to the basement.

Basically you gotta play a killer who is good at defending the basement (Huntress, Trapper, Leatherface, Demogorgon, Hag) or play a bit campy and hope they are overly altruistic.

That just sounds like an opportunity, rather than "scummy."

I mean, I guess camping isn't something people like? I personally don't do it, so I did this challenge in a more... creative way. Instead of just camping or proxy camping the basement with LeatherFace, I just played normally... after they're on their 3rd hook (death hook) I put them in the basement to be sacrificed and that's about it.

I played LeatherFace for the opportunity you had... where I can still chase people but guard the basement with a chainsaw and down both the Survivors, but I instead just played normally and killed everyone in the basement on their death hook with LeatherFace.

LeatherFace was just there for any potential 1-hit downs I could do at the entrance of the basement.
