There's a big mid-chapter patch with archives and whatnot due mid to late October and they usually don't overlap these things, so it wouldn't surprise me if they pushed the event back to maybe the last week of the month or even later.

I knew this post would get a lot of backlash. I don’t think there is anything wrong with wanting to see yourself represented in media, even in a video game like Dead By Daylight.
Its the same thing as people wanting more female characters, or black characters or hispanic characters etc. When you are apart of a minority it is nice to feel included. It just seems more forced with LGBT characters because sexuality is less apparent, so it always has to be made explicit.
With that being said, I don’t think any of the non-licensed characters have a defined sexuality, so it seems like its something thats purposely ambiguous, as to leave to the players interpretation.
People politely disagreeing with one another isn't the same thing as "backlash". And OP's request is not quite the same as hoping for more variation in the backgrounds of future characters. In the case of this thread, we're talking about an existing character, so it's more comparable to asking the devs to make Meg canonically transgender, or the Nurse hispanic. Diversity is fine, but retroactively plopping in irrelevant details like that purely for the sake of diversity isn't a good idea.

If the Devs had originally made David gay in his bio, although that would be very hard to even mention because how would one go about just saying someone is gay while telling the story about how they were abducted by a tentacle demon, people wouldn't be upset. But to change it now, it would very obviously just be a JK Rowling Moment of "btw he gay". Writers don't need to tell you every inch of a person's backstory, sexuality, first pet, mothers maiden name, etc unless it is pertinent to the development of the story or that character. A writer should leave that information up to the reader for them to decide, because the writer doesn't care unless them being gay is an important part of the story or that character's personality. You want David to be gay? Doesn't say he's not gay, so you can assume he's gay all you want. Just don't make the devs force it to be the official truth, becuase that is not good storytelling.
Exactly what I was trying to say. It's not about representation vs bigotry, it's about good character building and the necessity of certain facts to the story being told. If people want to imagine that David is gay, or that Kate and Jeff have a thing, they can go for it. But asking for your fanfiction to be made official canon is neither reasonable nor a good idea for multiple reasons, storytelling among them.

It's an interesting idea, though I'm not sure how weakening counterplay really contributes to the goal of making Nurse less overpowered.

DR will always be my favorite murder mystery. It brought so much to the table, especially in characters. I still don't know which series was my favorite :P
I haven't played past 2 (have to get on to 3 and UDG one of these days), but I definitely preferred the first game. I've played through it at least twice and gotten all the Steam achievements. Totally agree though, DR in general is awesome 😀

And pant less David king while we’re at it.
Lol why stop there, let's just give all the characters nude cosmetics. It's an 18+ game after all.

I have a vague recollection of a PTB where they tried the slowing down the bar when the killer was nearby thing, and the backlash was so hard they never implemented it.

Definitely not the only one. Favourite character in both games - I would love to see some kind of licensed skin crossover, but I very much doubt it would ever happen.

Still waiting on shirtless Jake. :P
Lol I saw that post and wondered if I'd started something.
-
None of the characters at the moment are overtly gay or straight or anything in between, obviously excluding licensed characters with expanded backgrounds outside of DBD. I think there's a good reason for that, and it's the best way to go about it. Unless a character's sexuality has some relevance to their lore, there is no more reason to define something like that than to define the character's favourite colour or how many siblings they have. Not to mention it would inevitably be what people focus on - David would become "the gay survivor" instead of just... David.
I don't believe LGBT representation is at all needed in a game where sexuality in general is not really represented, and if it were made official under those circumstances, it would just feel really forced and unnecessary.

@Fibijean Not an automatic Mori. Just a timer that stops when slugged and maybe while in chase. And after the timer expires you can mori.
I hope I did not get that wrong.
It's just... these toxic people have to learn the hard way. Else they won't learn. And when they get mori'd 24/7, maybe they'll think about their behavior.
Or add a tbag counter while in chase, which is displayed in the lobby as average tbags per match. Then I can bring the Mori myself and there is no need for a default one.
Firstly, there's no way to keep track of whether people are using this to punish toxic players or not. It's so open to abuse. Secondly, it's not your job to punish toxic players. We have a report system for toxic behaviour which actually affects gameplay.
People who teabag have no effect on actual gameplay, except perhaps that sometimes they lose chases because they're wasting time doing it. They are only doing it to piss you off. Don't give them what they want, don't let yourself get tilted by it. Just ignore it and play the game, and use their cockiness to your advantage if you get the chance. Bully psychology 101: if they don't get a reaction out of you, they'll lose interest. That's how you deal with people like that, not by creating an overpowered game mechanic designed to make a vigilante of the killer.
-
Thought this was going to be a post about getting revenge on a toxic player or something but this is actually so wholesome. Congrats, man :)
-
So you're proposing implementing a timed Ivory mori into every killer's basekit? Even as a perk, that would be pretty OP. As basekit, pip or not, it would be ridiculously so.
-
Kindred is good, Deliverance is even better if you have access to it.

I think the point of why it doesn't reward stealth is because that's exactly what it is trying to prevent.
The emblem rewards danger, it rewards distraction and also being able to WIN said chase or "distraction" for your team to progress generators within the Trial. If you played immersive the entire match while letting your other teammates take the chases instead, that'd just waste your chance to give the others some room to breathe while also using up some of your hook times.
As each Survivor only gets 2 hooks before the 3rd kills them, and by not taking chases and inevitably succumbing to the chase to get hooked... you won't actually be helping your teammates who will instead be more susceptible to being killed by their 3rd hook.
Think of it as a uh... "exchange" or something. You go out and get chased, possible lose said chase or not. If so, than you bought your team some time to do generators and get back on their feet, if not you bought someone another "hooking" because you're using up your free chances for them.
The exchange rewards being able to win these chases, taking the gamble to be rewarded but also being able to assist your team in more ways than just doing gens... Which I feel is the main flaw that some Survivors don't see when they focus only on doing generators rather than taking the agro.
Still, that's essentially exactly what I described: trying to push players into a specific playstyle. Playing stealthily and avoiding aggravating the killer isn't the same as being immersed all game and just letting all your teammates die. It's great that taking risks and winning chases is rewarded, but it's not great that that is the only strategy which is. In my opinion, the best, most varied, most fun and most interesting games are always those which give players the freedom to experiment with different builds and playstyles without being punished for it.

Feng. I like her aesthetic, her character, her backstory. Been a fan of her since she came out. I used to main Meg, but I think I could just relate better to a gamer character than an athlete. Whenever I play games where you control one of a selection of characters, I like to choose the one which I can relate best to personally, because it helps me feel more immersed and enjoy the game better.

Stealth is just a bi-product. If you truly want to level up the emblem you need to actually be chased and evade the chase. Also, i'm pretty sure Chaser is already taken on Killer side anyways...
Besides, calling it chaser doesn't make sense. Who are you chasing? Aren't you the one being chased... That's why it's called evader. While the term can mean many things like evading the Killer through stealth, or evading a chase... The primary term is towards being chased and evading said chase, if it was focusing on anything else that could level it up than it would be called Stealther...
I'm not saying evader is a stupid name, personally I like it, but I was just trying to explain why the person you were responding to was claiming it didn't make sense. And I think that's the whole point of this thread, that stealth shouldn't be a byproduct, it should be just as important as winning chases. Certain aspects of the emblem system are geared towards forcing a particular playstyle by making it the only viable one, which is something I'm always against in games.

I mean it makes sense, you "evaded" the chase through stealth in the Killers terror radius, or you "evaded" the chase by either hiding them them during it or broke the chase entirely.
That's what it really boils down to.
The name makes sense, if that's actually what it does. I think the person's point was that it rewards stealth so minimally that it might as well be called Chaser because that's all it really takes into account.
-
I think it's because people have learned how to play her, and now that there are players around who are super good at Spirit, all the most powerful and unfun aspects of her gameplay have come to the fore. Even players who have been playing for a long time before and after her release, such as myself, have found playing against her much worse and more frustrating in recent months, where before she wasn't that bad. The character hasn't changed, but the proportion of players with mastery of her has.
-
I don't think this will ever be implemented, and you only need to look at your OP to see why. The points against adding voice lines are much stronger - they affect atmosphere and gameplay, while the points against are more or less just "but it might be fun".

As above, last years even likewise ended on November 2nd.
That's shifting it back a week or so though, not a month. Shifting it back a month as you suggested would mean having it happen at the end of November, which would be weird for a Halloween event. So their points are valid according to what you posted, if not according to your actual meaning.

I want the moonlight offerings back as well. Why can't we pick more than one option D:

My whole drink moment would be getting that 4% - pulling yourself off the hook without perks or luck offerings.

Not OP, just super unfun to play against. Which is unfortunately a consequence of the nature of her power, not its relative strength or weakness.

Going AFK temporarily isn't bannable, but I believe what you're proposing comes under "botting", which is.

It would have required extra work to rework that button so that it's compatible with the new SWF lobby system. So they had two choices: delay the lobby rework until the button was also fixed, or remove the button temporarily and release the lobby rework as-is. Given the high demand for the lobbies, they chose the latter. But I'm sure they're working on reimplementing the button in a future patch.

As a stealth player, being sick ruins me most of the time, and corrupt purge is not that difficult to avoid with enough LOS blockers. I find it about as much of a challenge as Huntress with her hatchets. But the thing that seals the deal for me is that "very rare" addons are not actually very rare, and the fact that Black Incense exists is just too much of a risk to take.
That said, if I could, I would change my answer to "cleanse strategically" rather than immediately. That is, cleanse ASAP, but don't be stupid about it. Find a fountain that's somewhat out of the way, and don't do it when she's right nearby.

The unfortunate truth; due to toxicity, personal preference and the stereotyping of characters, certain details need to be hidden to prevent excessive lobby dodging.
Yep. I'd personally be in favour of even more information being hidden tbh, for that exact reason.
-
To actually answer the original question though, you can't report someone just for being toxic because toxicity is such an objective thing. There are some people who consider bringing a pink item or addon to be toxic. There are some people who consider playing with friends to be toxic. If those things were actually reportable, the poor support team would never get anything done. As I recall, you can report people for actual bad manners or unsportsmanlike behaviour, however.

It would surprise me if the demo was just a once-off. I'm betting he was only the beginning, and they're planning to overhaul chase music for all the killers.

Yes I addressed this in a later post, completely my bad on that one. I'd blame it on the time but I'm just a ditz. 😂
No worries, I must have missed it, I just skimmed the thread because I was worried about getting sick from all the toxic waste.
-
I agree, but it's not really possible at the moment. With the peer-to-peer connection, it's impossible to track people who lagswitch reliably - and if you're going to issue a permaban, it should be based on some hard evidence.
-
@Ringy01 You're incorrect about the hatch spawn conditions, but right about everything else. People like this guy are why everyone thinks that survivor mains are toxic and entitled. The only consolation in this case is that his entitlement and misplaced rage are so over the top that no one could possibly take him seriously enough to judge others by his standard.

We use the “OP” key. To avoid NO ONE ESCAPES DEATH.....to avoid end game collapse. 🙄😒 not to be toxic. 9 times outta 10 WE CANT EVEN MAKE IT TO GET A HATCH ESCAPE EARLY BECAUSE KILLERS STEADY CAMP AND TUNNEL. There’s literally nothing we can do..It’s gotten to the point where we cant even get all 5 gens done. And you wanna say keys are toxic. 💀💀 that’s funny. Killers still get more points for killing 2 survivors while the ones who’s took hatch STILL HAVE BARELY ANY POINTS.
I do not want to say keys are toxic. You're putting words into my mouth. I am a heavy survivor main, and I am of the opinion that no pink items or addons are toxic in themselves. I was merely pointing out the huge double standard you're operating on here, as many others have before me.

I’m gonna hate the player and the game because the player KNOWS what they’re doing and knows they’re gonna make someone mad...AND THE GAMES ALLOWING IT.
But... you could make the exact same argument about the key. So either all OP items and addons are toxic, or none of them are. Pick one.

I like bloodhunts and all, but I wish they were longer. And honestly I think bloodpoint gains should just be permanently doubled or at least increased at this point, with the amount of characters and perks in the game now.

I also think We're Gonna Live Forever should be base kit for survivors!
Would be cool, although the requirements might need to be adjusted a bit. There's only a max of 8 rescuable hooks in a game, and encouraging bodyblocking for stacks might not be the best idea. Perhaps if it were base kit, you could also get stacks for repairing a generator, or healing other survivors or something. But we're getting a bit off-topic, lol!

I agree. But I specifically would want BBQ's Bloodpoint incentive moved off the perk and into the base kit, so there isn't a "Should I use this perk because it gives me more BP?" quandary (which would still be the case, no matter how many BP you're getting otherwise).
All of this is useless though, because Behaviour refuses to show any contrition over the unwieldy state of the grind. It's all part of the sham security blanket that they cling to because they're terrified that less grind would equal more player churn, and so they prioritize that over long-term player happiness (paging @Peanits in case anyone's attitude has changed over there, though I don't reasonably expect anyone at Behaviour to reply and actually have a conversation about this, because no one ever wants to confront it honestly and directly, even though it is the single biggest problem with their game).
The only reason I say everyone should get more bloodpoints than they do, rather than just BBQ should be basekit, is that killers already get about twice as many bloodpoints per game as survivors, and I don't see it as being a good idea to widen that gap even further.
I agree about the grind thing, though. We're trying so hard to expand the community, and getting all these new players, but at the same time, between the imposingly huge grind, the best perks mostly being DLC, and the broken matchmaking, it seems like we're shooting ourselves in the foot at the same time. I'm not mad about it or anything, it's just a real shame.
-
I'd leave a lobby, but not a game over it. Given the choice between playing against a rank 1 Nurse or Spirit and literally anything else, of course I would choose not to. Just like if there were a way to know for sure if a team was SWF, or if those medkits had instaheals, most killers would choose not to play that match every time. The uncertainty of the lobbies is what gets people matches on both sides.

I voted for the BP's primarily but I also don't see any reason to remove the aura reading from it. It even encourages "fun" game play by getting the killer to leave hooks.
Neither do I, really. I should clarify, the point I'm trying to prove is not that BBQ should be nerfed in some way. I was talking to someone who insisted that almost all killers use it for the auras and don't really care about the bloodpoints, and I told him it was the other way around. So I'm gathering evidence to back up that claim.
-
@Rydog said:
I would absolutely not use BBQ just for the aura reading. If the BP bonus were not a factor, I would swap it out for Discordance or Surveillance, or some other better tracking perk.
I wish the BP bonus mechanic were just baked into the killer's base kit, so I could have more perk flexibility.
I think everyone could do with just permanent double bloodpoints. The grind is too real with the amount of perks and characters in the game now.

"git gud" it's hard to be "gud" when youre a rank 6 killer going against rank 3s and 4s
That's actually the best way to git gud. The quickest way to improve your skills in a game is to learn to play with opponents who are better than you.
-
@Yung_Slug said:
I love the aura reading, but the points are the real reason I use it. Still, it would suck to have to bring a perk for extra bloodpoints if it doesn't have an actual effect.
I really wish WGLF would be buffed to have a real effect. If you're gonna have a perk that rewards you for sandbagging the team with unsafe hooks, at least don't have it also sandbag the team by being a useless perk slot in-game.
It would be nice, but off the top of my head I can't think of any effect that people wouldn't say is too strong. Maybe a small boost to altruistic speed, or to self-healing?
Also it's worth noting that WGLF no longer rewards for unsafe hooks. The game has to consider it a safe unhook to get the stack. Seems to be the same thing with pallet and flashlight saves - you get stacks for those, but only if they don't get downed again immediately.
Survivors do have other BP-boosting perks, but none as good as WGLF and no survivor perk is as good as the killer perks for boosting BP. (Which, considering killers already get way more per match, is... a puzzling design choice. But I digress.) When I'm serious about farming points, I run WGLF with BT (for guaranteed safe unhooks), Prove Thyself and No One Left Behind. Gets me about 50-70k in a good game.

You know the bloodhunt doesn't stack with bbq right? You just go from 2x bps with bbq to 3x bps.
It's the same as playing with a pudding.
Still makes it more worth running during a bloodhunt though. If you don't feel like it's worth a perk slot for 200% bloodpoints ordinarily, you might feel that it's worth it for 300% during the bloodhunt.
-

Double blood points is something I can't miss on most killers. Hag is the exception because of how I play her means I don't use the aura. Aura reading is a great.
It's interesting how many people are saying they can't choose between the two. From the way I've heard people talk, it seemed like most people just used it for one or the other.
-
Why, though? It makes literally no difference to you how many bloodpoints another player earns. There's no competitive market for bloodpoints. We're all in the same grindy boat here, so what would even be the point in restricting bloodpoint gains even further?
-
There are plenty of games in which the characters have unique abilities, and it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone just plays the same ones, nor does it impact negatively on cosmetic sales. I think as long as it's balanced properly, it would be fun and add a bit more variety to the game.
