So how does post game chat work now? Does it stay open until people leave or is that still based off killer exit?

It's definitely not based on killer exit but it's hard to be certain exactly what it is based on. My best guess currently, based on my own experience, is that there's a certain amount of time, like 2mins or so, for postgame chat before the server disconnects automatically.

  • I agree with you that a battlepass doesn't really seem to fit with DBD, but I'm open to the possibility that maybe we just need to get used to it.

Functionally, I'm far more okay with the rift than I expected to be. I love being able to earn cosmetics and extra bloodpoints for doing challenges. Ever since they changed Daily Rituals to make them way easier I've missed not really having particular goals to strive for.

My favourite thing about the Rift, though, is something which to my knowledge wasn't requested much by players, so it was just an idea of the devs, and to me proves that they actually do care more about making a fun experience and rewarding their players than about moneygrubbing. And that is the fact that if you play consistently, you can get all the content and only have to purchase the premium tier once. Essentially, if you keep the cells you get each time, every Rift after the first one is free. They could so easily have made the Rift just BPs and cosmetic rewards so that you have to pay for a new "battlepass" every few months, but they went out of their way to make it accessible like this. It was such a welcome and unexpected change, and I loved it.

  • It's not a bug. It's the dedicated servers. Because the server is no longer hosted on the killer's machine, the killer isn't necessarily the first person to connect to the lobby anymore. If you stay in there for like a minute and no killer turns up, maybe ditch then, but usually if you wait a few seconds the killer will arrive before long.

  • Also worth noting that deep wound counts as a health state in itself - for example, if you use Inner Strength while affected by BT, you will heal from the deep wound but still be injured. So I imagine that even if you used styptic, got hit, then used a syringe to heal, you would still be injured at the end, not fully healed.

  • It's a bit subjective, true. I think it's mostly that, although you still get a free hit, (a) that freedom has a timed expiry on it now, and (b) most importantly, it doesn't change the health state, which means you can no longer use it to quickly get someone up off the ground. It can basically only be used while in a chase now.

I guess balance is important just because it's not fun when something unfair happens like insta-heals or mori's etc

I sort of get that, but it depends on how you define unfair. Asymmetrical games are unfair almost by definition, so whether or not something 'feels' unfair depends, I think, largely on perspective. Most of the time those things don't bother me too much to be on the other side of, because I consider the absurdity of it to be all part of the fun. Which is not to say I don't have more fun with an ordinary, well-matched game most of the time, but occasionally I think things like keys and moris and instas can add a bit of flavour to the game.

I guess the best way to describe it is that I have a similar affection for OP addons in DBD to that which many players hold for ridiculous-looking bugs in Skyrim. Would Skyrim be an objectively better-designed and more polished game if you didn't fly into the stratosphere when hit by a giant? Sure, but you would lose something of the game's character by removing that bug. It's not a perfect comparison, but that's more or less how I feel about instas, moris and keys in DBD, and why I consider it a net loss for them be be heavily nerfed or removed.

  • Unpopular opinion, from what I've seen, but I wish they hadn't touched instaheals and I hope they don't touch moris. The reason being Dead By Daylight is not a competitive game in the sense that there is no disadvantage to losing every once in a while. So for me, I don't really care if something is balanced if it's fun, and there's something really fun about how absurdly overpowered things like moris, keys and instaheals are. It's so ridiculous it's hilarious. To me, removing them feels like taking something away from the character of the game, and that's a loss.

But I understand that that's not most people's experience, so I get why most feel that balance ought to be the ultimate goal.

Yeah I caught that too, Matthieu giving away spoilers lol XD

They did say that the roadmap was never final, that things could change so who knows what we could see next.

But yeah, i just feel like original killers coming with an original map is just more fitting and I'd honestly be disappointed if they didnt come with one. I love seeing the maps devs can create, especially when they're not going off of something licensed, new realms are always cool and maps like purgation and the chapel are really cool imo. It's just my hopes tbh

I agree about original killers coming with maps, but I'd still like the next chapter to be original because it's looking like it might include a map after all.

  • So if I understood correctly, you hope it's not an original killer because you want all original killers to come with maps?

Fair enough, except Matthieu Cote did an interview recently with YouTuber The King in which it was mentioned that the next chapter wouldn't include a map and Matthieu's response was something along the lines of "What? Really?" and then "Well we've always said the roadmap was subject to changes". So in summary, sounds like a map might be planned for the next chapter after all.

    This. ^^^

I do, however, disagree on that America bit tho. If you've seen other countries... you surely know that the media in America in influencing them, right?

I will only mention one thing and then I will mention no more, as I don't want to get the mods involved: The Trump balloon.

    That should prove my point.

America's politics affect the world. It is sad, but it's the truth.

It is true, but not to the extent that many people from America (in my experience) seem to think. America may be a large global influence, but it's not the only one. But as you say, this is getting very much off-topic and dangerously close to the forum rules. So I digress.

hey hey bro it wasn't last patch, its hard to find right now and such waste of time

and that certain patch was major changed this game balance,

if you keep played this game since 1year ago you never miss that by any feeling or at"forums"

and that guy having my x10 posts at official forum so its his fault

It's his fault that you can't be bothered to present evidence to support your ideas?

If you think backing up your own argument is a waste of time, that's fine, but I don't know how you expect anybody else to take your ideas seriously in that case.

I've been playing this game since soon after release, and long before these forums existed, and I couldn't possibly tell you exactly which patch number a certain change was made in. Again, if you're that much better-informed, you ought to be able to procure necessary evidence without any trouble. If you're not, that's no one else's fault.

If you want to discuss your ideas, stop blaming people for trying to engage with them.

it was patch note and every other people knew and focus on subject

you don't know but wanted to involve yourself here

    hello logic

    no worth talking for nothing

The insults are unnecessary. It's not unreasonable for @NuclearBurrito to expect you to back up your claim with evidence when asked. If "everyone", yourself included, knows exactly which patch you're talking about, you shouldn't have any trouble finding that information to support your argument.

  • There are many reasons. You'll find most of them doing a quick search for "Nurse" on this forum. None of them hold any water yet, though, because no one outside of the dev team has actually seen the changes in effect.

I'm suggesting we do away with all the current Mori offerings and let the bloodpoint offerings give you the power to Mori Survivors who have been hooked twice.

I see. That wasn't very clear from your original comment, but I understand now. It's a novel idea, but there are a lot of bloodpoint offerings, and they're fairly common. I suspect that it might just amplify the problem rather than dampen it, but it's hard to say really without testing it.

  • @TAG said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/744944#Comment_744944

...because it only works on Survivors who have been hooked two times?

Okay, so I'm assuming you're talking about cypress/ivory moris. But most people agree those are fine anyway, you're suggesting we balance instaheals and moris by nerfing the less powerful moris, while leaving the one which is actually comparable to things like syringes intact?

  • How much people complain about them.

  • @TAG said:

Make the yellow and green bloodpoint offerings allow you to Mori Survivors who have been hooked twice.

That is the opposite of a fix, in what way does it fix the concern with moris being OP like instaheals?

  • As others have mentioned, "survivor mains" aren't in charge of changes in game design.

Posts like this are why these forums are so divisive. Please stop, it's not good for anyone.

"I didn't read what you said because i don't care but here's a paragraph about my opinion"

You know ignoring that you basically just kind of....... Well

"It doesn't matter and i don't care what sexuality the characters are because it has no effect on the game" see this is true but THEN

"I hate when characters are made gay for diversity" but i thought you didn't care?

I mean it kind of goes back to the first contradiction you made (about caring and not caring), i don't think you're trying to be disingenuous or anything but maybe you aren't exactly sure what you care about. I think another thing that's really telling is that you say you have no problem with gay people besides their "politics" and ignoring everything that implies what it really comes down to is this, did you care about any of this stuff before a certain change in the political climate? And to add to that, are you any happier now that you're always pissed off at something?

Im not trying to be a dick nor am i out to change hearts or minds one way or the other im just saying maybe a certain someone took office and now everybody is pissed off at everything even if a few years ago they couldn't even imagine having an opinion. And that goes for most of America, national outrage is a bi partisan past time. Maybe if we all just chilled the ######### out and didn't constantly fight because of "politics" then we would all be a lot happier and "politics" wouldn't invade every facet of our lives even where "politics" are not at all involved. Like a guy being gay in a video game about being murdered

However, and i can't stress this enough, Clown IS bisexual. I've seen him suck david and nea with the same look of euphoric pleasure on his face. Thems the facts

For the record, just based on the quotes you sent, I don't think he was contradicting himself at all. It was pretty clear to me that what he cares about is not whether the characters are gay, but why the designers made that choice.

Also heated political debate has been going on around homosexuality, gay rights, gay representation, etc. for literal decades, so bringing "a certain someone" into this is not only against forum rules but also irrelevant - both because of what I just mentioned, and because America is not the entire world and not everyone's opinions are influenced by the political climate in the US.

  • I think it would be okay for the killer to choose locations, but they shouldn't be able to choose them for each individual hex. They should just get to choose a number of spots equal to however many hexes they have active, and the perks themselves are randomly distributed, so they can't strategise around specific locations.

But fixing totem spawns is the more obvious and easier to implement solution, and would also help killers running NOED.

According to leaks, everyone who plays the PTB will receive 2000 Auric cells (PTB only) to try out the Rift. If that translates to Live Servers as assumed, it puts the price for the Paid Rift Track at $20.

That's great news, at least for the temporary cells thing. They did a similar thing when they released the Store on PTB, I was wondering if they'd do it this time around as well.

  • @JawsIsTheNextKiller said:

All killers need to be roughly the same in ability for balance. To establish this, some need a slight nerf and some need a major buff. I want to see a buff to Legion to compensate though.

The addons look far more interesting. I always used the same addons every build, now I have reasons to try the new addons.

New Nurse players now have a common addon to help learn their blink ranges.

The add-ons do look quite interesting. And it's hard to get a concrete idea at this stage of how well or badly they're going to play out, because it's difficult to anticipate what kind of creative combinations people will use them in until they start doing it.

  • @Kumakx said:

I agree with that idea (noot sure about time, could be adjusted). Or ANY other idea that would stop low rank survivors from keeping the game hostage.

Maybe after certain time survivors would get crows that they cant get rid of.

Maybe after certain time just walking across the map doesnt remove crows - you actually have to fix gens / cleanse totems / heal someone / get in chase to get them removed.

I was about to say something along the lines of "don't be silly, that pretty much never happens" but then I remembered a game I had as Pig the other week where two survivors remaining hid and did nothing for a good fifteen minutes, and by the end of it I was ready to hook myself if it would end the bloody game already.

    So... yeah. I agree.

  • It depends what you mean by overpowered or balanced. Yes, ebony moris dramatically turn the tide of a game in the killer's favour, but they only do that in maybe one game in fifty (rough estimate based on my own experience). I chose to vote for "overpowered" on the former basis, but you could also make a good argument for their being balanced in the grand scheme of things on the latter basis.

  • Excuse you what the HECK did you just say about Chess?

  • @Tucking_Friggered said:

Good. Takeover as a Nurse main for the SWF groups. I'm sure they'll need a few replacements. Most of the killers, myself included, are just frankly burned out with the circle jerk. It doesn't matter if she's only a little less or a lot less of her former self.

The constant coddling to the most vocal on the forums has wore thin. Frankly, it's about as amateur of a design decision a company can make, to balance their game based on forum politics. Each and every game that does so fines itself in decline.

Players attuned to it know they have to spend an inordinate amount of time on the forums protecting their preferred playstyle or others who dedicate their lives to helping nerf their competition will in their absence. Time they could be spending in game instead.

So have at it. No matter how one chooses to view it, each time a bold Nurse player took a match with confidence that they knew was SWF in the past can no longer and must now instead consider whether it is any longer feasible or worth the extra energy. One thing we all know is she isn't as good as she was before and that is demoralizing.

Strange thing is, from what I've seen (especially lately), the most vocal on the forums are by far self-declared killer mains such as yourself. Not saying that's a bad thing, just that if what you're saying is true about the devs catering to survivor mains, it's certainly not because they're the most vocal.

Both of those and the purple toolbox (Comminus? Whatever) are the ones MOST USED for "gen rushing".

I still think getting 25% of a gen done instantly is a big deal. But it's okay for us to disagree.

It sounds like a big deal, but I think in the grand scheme of things it's not as powerful as it seems at first glance. Also, I think I'm still missing what the connection is you're making between gen rushing and add-on rarities. Are you suggesting that these other items are of comparative power level to BNPs and shouldn't be as common as they are, or that BNPs are way more powerful than any of those add-ons?

That said, we're not really talking about medkits anymore so I feel like we should stop derailing this thread, ongoing misunderstandings or no.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/743856#Comment_743856

What you said, shows how fast gens are!

Anyway, Why isnt it? You have Swivel Joints and Instructions at a yellow rank...

I'm not sure what the relevance is of the other toolbox add-ons, you'd have to expand on that a bit for me to understand the point you're trying to make there.

The reason I say it's not ultra-rare-level powerful is exactly what I said. Compared to the amount of game-changing potential things like syringes or ebony moris have, the difference a brand new part makes is comparatively negligible. It saves survivors a maximum of 15 seconds in completing their objective during a game, out of an average of around 800 seconds. It's a difference - it's not an ultra-rare kind of difference.

  • If you're genuinely looking for a reason, my best guess is they reworked her add-ons, then decided that she was still too powerful and so nerfed her basekit.

  • @UlvenDagoth said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/743835#Comment_743835

Fixes a 1/4th a gen in one go if you get the skill checks. I'm sorry its not 2016-2017 when it was 100%

Which saves about 15 seconds for a good player, and about 7 if you can't reliably hit difficult skill checks. That's not an extraordinary amount of time, compared to other ultra-rare addons in the game. I know exactly what they used to do, I know exactly what they do now. I know why they made the change, and I don't think it was a bad one. I do think that it's not powerful enough to justify being the same rarity level as a syringe or an ebony mori.

  • I hope they don't do to instaheals what they did to BNP. I get why they did it, but BNP now are nowhere near powerful enough to justify being ultra-rare. And I think the whole instaheal thing is still very much up in the air in terms of the consensus on how powerful/game-breaking it is.

  • She does have addons to counter a lot of the negative effects of the nerf, but that in itself is concerning, because it suggests she might become one of those "only good with good add-ons" killers. She does still have more map pressure than most, though.

  • Ew, no. Mobile game mechanics don't belong on PC and consoles. The games that do that do it because they're free to begin with and need more ways to monetise. DBD is not free, it doesn't need ads all through it. And auric cells are not meant to be earnable any way except with real money (excepting the occasions where the devs basically use them in place of cash prizes for competitions and such). That's what iridescent shards are for.

  • @AshleyWB said:

I personally think if a new Survivor was released and in the bio it had a line about sexuality then it would be a nice touch. Every Survivor follows a theme we've got the gen repair nerd, runner girl, healing expert and the survivalist. We have a methhead, a TV show host, a reserved rocker guy, a musician maybe a Survivor who just loves and respects is near.

I think a Survivor with the theme of love and respect to everyone and everything is interesting and in no way at all infringing upon controversy.

It doesn't have to state specifically the actual sexuality and use it as a label.

It might sound a little dumb of an idea but there's definitely a gap for a 'lover' Survivor in dbd. Coming with perks which help unify teammates or something like that.

Just think how can respect to fellow players be possible in the game. Perhaps a new offering which benefits everyone. Maybe even just removing pointing, teabagging and other toxic stuff during chase. A base level of respect.

Lorewise, if not perk-wise, Kate is meant to be that person. And there's no getting around that if a character was added for the sake of adding a gay character, unofficially at least they would be forever known as "the gay one".

The bottom line, in my opinion, is that if someone can't relate to a character's personality without sharing their sexuality or skin colour, that says more about them than it does about the game.

Yeah, it's really strange. I was so hyped for the servers when they were announced but even though one of it is located litterally right next to me, I had a lot of bad experiences with them when they were live and also in the last ptb. It's sad, but I hope they will not officially release them in the current state :(

I hope they can fix this issue somehow...

I hope so too. And I think the more information they have, the easier that will be to find and fix the problems, so thanks for sharing your experience!

  • @AngryFluffy said:

Sadly the servers did not work for me, even though I live near Frankfurt and had a ping of 30 ms for almost every match.

I didn't had problems with lags, there were none, but the hitboxes and latency were terrible.

I got hit through solid walls, I got hit after I vaulted a pallet and already were standing on the other side, I got hit from hatchets, which just flew past me like 2 seconds ago and the list goes on. These things didn't happen only one time. They happened in almost every match with the dedicated servers.

Even when I'm in a killer lobby with a ping of 175ms the hitboxes and latency aren't that terrible like they were with the dedicated servers.

Sorry to hear that :( But how strange. I wonder what's causing these huge discrepancies in people's experiences, even in similar areas or connecting to the same server.

. Transporting the survivors when they're in the dying state

My thoughts is that he can grab their leg or something and drag them around lol (which would be freaking hilarious).

    . Hooking the survivors

My thought is, you could change the hook. Maybe make a cage or something different? That or an extremely hilarious hook animation that throws them up there lmao.

. How saves work against him for example flashlight saves and pallet saves.

Those I imagine would be the same. Now flashlight blinds in general would most likely be harder and different angles. But as far as pickups and such they would be in the same position as other killers, in my view of it.

I feel like this is basically the main problem with the Chucky thing though. Not only that it was be very difficult to pull off, but even if they did, it would probably end up being "freaking hilarious" and not at all terrifying.

It's bad enough seeing the demogorgon plodding around like a good little dog chucking survivors on hooks, I don't think they could pull it off with someone who is so much less physically imposing to begin with.

Yeah, that's why I made the poll - mixed was a lot better than I was expecting tbh. Looking at all the complaining that goes on on the forums, one would think that everyone is having a gamebreaking experience with them. According to the poll (to which respondees seemed to be mostly Australian or European, so maybe that's relevant) a good chunk of people actually consider them at least on par with their previous experience, if not an improvement.

True, but Pig doesn't vault, hit, pick up survivors, hook survivors, or do any actions really while crouched. Chucky would have to be able to do all those things at half the height of a usual killer. How would he reach hooks, or reach windows to vault while still looking intimidating and not stupid? He would be so easy to bully around loops because he couldn't see over most of them. Not to mention they would have to remake most of the animations in the game just for him.

Sorry to be a buzzkill... I just don't see how it could be feasible given how the game has been designed thus far.

@Fibijean Hmmm ok then. I just thought you could have been serious and I didn't want you to make it seem like they were doing something wrong by playing the game. I'm chill now you've clarified it was a joke.

Also for anyone who wants to raise the question about infringing upon the law to play a game underage then I can say that the certificate rating is a means to highlight what audience it is suitable for, you may be required to be a particular age rating when buying but playing is a different story.

It's basically so 5 year olds don't accidentally buy the new resident evil games and find it too much to handle.

Also the certificate rating system is kinda outdated and dumb. I've got a massive gripe with how EA basically have gambling in their games and it's suitable for ages 3 and above.

Just a little insight to those who feel like you're breaking the law by playing, you're not the certificate rating is just a guideline.

I'm only going on because if it was me would be feeling as if I shouldn't be playing with the question of legality going around. I hope I put that question to bed.

Again no offense to Fibi I'm just making sure if this concern is raised again it won't hold any significance. 🙂

No offence taken, sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Sometimes it's hard to communicate or receive the intended message over text 🙂

If you think there's something wrong with being too young to play then you need to get real.

@Aldo @Aldofer Hardly a problematic poll trying to see how diverse the playerbase is. Just leave them alone the both of you.

Chill out, mate. I was clearly joking around.

  • Any one of the OG three. Billy is not as noob-friendly as the other two, but he's not extremely difficult either and he is the most powerful of the three. Wraith and Trapper are easy to learn but play very differently. I would give him a brief description of their powers, and tell him to choose whichever one appeals most to him.

  • That's my estimate, based on SWF groups I've come across myself and those I've been a part of. Also no one but the absolute top players even know the maps well enough to be able to communicate precise locations for pallet drops and such, so I'm guess there will be a fairly low percentage of people using comms to their full advantage. If you have more concrete data to refute that, though, I'd love to see it.

The stats show Nurse is one of the killers with the lowest kill rates. So I guess the devs should buff her then according to your logic?

Oh wait the devs aren't buffing her, infact they're nerfing her add-ons. Because when good players used them they curb stomped survivors.

It's the same with good players and SWF. They can curb stomp killers. If something is so OP that when good players use it becomes problematic devs shouldn't hide behind the excuse of drunk and casual players not abusing mechanics. They should instead address said OP mechanics.

Closing the SWF-Solo gap and the changing maps/buffing killers is the fairest way to address SWF.

I don't necessarily think Nurse ought to be buffed just because of that, but I do believe that they ought to look into why she has low kill rates on consoles. Maybe her controls aren't console-friendly, and they ought to take a look at that.

But yes, I do believe that it's not a good idea for game developers to make changes just because a number of players complain loudly enough about it on the forums, if they have access to actual data which gives them different information. Indiscriminately making changes because the players say so is how you ruin games. I believe that they should use all the information they have available to make informed decisions about changing the game.

Notice that I never said the gap between solo and SWF players was a non-issue or that it didn't exist. Nor did I say that they should or should not make game changes based on statistics. That's something you're projecting onto me. All I have said is that according to the stats, the issue is not as widespread as many believe it to be, and suggested NOT that it therefore should be ignored, but simply that that may be why the developers aren't making fixing it as much of a priority as some people think they should be.

    I think they'll happen concurrently.

Only because i think the devs will believe throwing an event, archives and rifts at people at once would be overwhelming.

Event would be weeks in before mid chapter

That's exactly my point, it would be too much all at once. So I think either the mid-chapter will be significantly delayed until after the event in November, or the event will happen late in the month a week or so after mid-chapter comes out.

You are simply not a ln optimal swf group. Simple. Just take a look at the depip squad and how well they communicate informations. And they aren't even talking that much, sometimes I watch streamers and they call EVERY SINGLE PALLET DROP out for the team to avoid that anyone runs into deadzones by accident. Just because you and your team can't (or don't want to) fully capitalise on the advantage voice coms can give doesn't mean others can't.

I know I'm not in an optimal SWF group. That's exactly my point. I'm in a typical SWF group. 4-man SWF takes up about 5% of all queues, and of that 5%, maybe 1 in 20 (if we're being really generous) of those groups use voicecoms to their full advantage. My point has always been not that coms cannot be used to gain a significant advantage, but that the problem is nowhere near as widespread as people like to pretend, because it only occurs in a generous 0.25% of all games.

The OP asked why nothing is being done to balance it. My guess is, that's why. Because it's not statistically as huge a problem as people are making it out to be.

Oh. I didn’t know that. Thank you but I was talking about me personally tho. And I’ll ditch, I’m not having fun and I don’t know the people I’m playing with, so...

Unfortunately, that's exactly the kind of self-serving attitude that creates division and toxicity within the community.

I DCed my last game because it wasn’t fun. Was being tunneled. I like to have fun on the game

So do the other people on the team you ditched.
