  • There are a *lot* of problems with dedicated servers. The movement changes tested in the last PTB seemed to help them a lot.

I'd still rather get into a game and know my ping it good than have to leave game after game in a row trying to find one without 1k ping though cause they're playing on McDonald's WiFi. I also don't have to worry about it showing green ping then lagging horribly because some idiot is using a VPN to get easy games where the survivors lag out.

  • The stats they put out a few months back excluded any game where there was at least one DC. Overall, in games played to completion by all five players the kill rate was around 60% on average. The dreaded, elite 4 man SWF was a miniscule percentage not worth considering, and even at red ranks with SWF, the kill rate was larger than survival rate.

In short, killers kill more than they don't, but still complain because they feel they should kill everyone and every escape is a personal assault on their family honor.

Pack up everyone, debates over. This guy says he does really good as killer and not so good as survivor, our arguments has been destroyed.

Ever consider the fact that you just aren't good or that the OP is lying to support the 'I just want easy 4k's every game because PoWeR rOlE' agenda? Cause on my nearly 1000 hours of experience, killer is an easy, laid back role of a bully running around kicking puppies and as survivor I can't stop shouting at the screen "STOP EXPLODING YOU COWARDS!"

He's not complaining that he won. He's complaining that the experience was crappy and frustrating. Because it was.

Fun is subjective. You can't say he had fun or not. He's saying he didn't have fun and it was a frustrating experience. You're arguing that because he 4K'd, he cannot complain when he has every right to complain and you cannot say otherwise because you cannot say what he can or cannot find fun. This is an argument you cannot win.

I escape 90% of my games as survivor in 7 minutes or less and I find those games to be #########. Am I complaining that I won, too?

Yes, you are complaining that you won. You literally just did that by saying the games were #########.

You can't balance around 'fun', because that is subjective by its' very nature. Plenty of people fine iri head hatched huntress with Ebony Mori to be 'fun', and while it is typically not 'fun' for the people that play against it, its' also not 'fair'. Therefore, it should be changed.

If you want to complain that games go too quickly, then you need to nerf killer capabilities as well as gen times. If gens can pop too quickly, then killers can definitely down too quickly. Heals should be faster, hook timers longer, and anything that insta-downs should be removed.

Until a killer is incapable of downing all four survivors in less than a minute, I think the 80-second gen times are fine if not too long against tryhards that stack every advantage they can and play as cheaply a possible.

You are blind ..truly lol I’m not complaining about winning I’m complaining about gen rushing and how stressful it is it simply is not fun for killers

Which translates to being upset that a group of survivors made you try. This is far beyond the average rate gens are done and you still slaughtered them. Sounds to me like the only possible complaint is the rate at which you can down them. If they can all died that fast, then they should be able to win that fast purely for the sake of fairness.

  • I play in red ranks typically as Wraith, Legion, and Doc. I don't have to sweat. Most survivors are terrible and go down quickly. I don't enjoy kicking puppies, so I don't play killer much.

This is the thing I don't think most killer mains understand. As killer, the absolute worst thing a survivor can do to you is stun or blind you briefly. They can run and evade. That's it. "Losing" just means you didn't get to kill anybody. How sad for you.

As survivor, losing means death so quickly you didn't get a chance to even do anything. You were the fly getting it's wings torn off before being burned by a magnifying glass.

Winning as killer is less fun to me than losing as survivor.

Killer: I don't think survivors being able to finish 3 generators in less than 2 minutes is very fai--

Survivor: WHAT DO YOU WANT, SURVIVORS TO SPAWN ON HOOKS FOR YOU?!?

Seriously, why do people always try to strawman the issue here with "Killers only want 4ks" excuse? Stop. The only thing you contribute is creating white noise that washes out actual dialogue. Everyone wants the same thing: a fun, enjoyable experience.

Having generators being done in only a couple of minutes generally isn't fun for neither side, and it isn't fun for neither side either for the killer to have to slug everyone to apply pressure to wipe them out in one go because of they don't generators pop in just a couple of minutes, either.

This isn't a problem of one side being more powerful than the other. It's a discussion about the overall game health and flow.

He still killed every last one of them. He's complaining that he won. That he had to try. If you can't see the absurdity of that complaint, then you are also horribly biased towards the idea that you should 4k every game without effort.

He played against tryhard survivors, so he actually had to try. You aren't going to earn sympathy with whining about that.

Not only gens are done super fast, survivors have lots of crutches (borrowed time, decisive strike, adrenaline, unbreakable, dead hard, deliverance, insta endurance and heal medkits, keys, toolboxes and super safe maps) and killers don't. Usually one gen pops even after the killer finds the first survivor if they are unlucky with survivor spawns. Killers only have NOED and that doesn't guarantee win, pip or anything.

IDK how the devs think this is a good solution and killers are just toys for survivors. Survivor queues are insane right now.

As a red rank survivor and killer, gens rarely get completed in any game I play on either side. Most of my escapes are hatch since the teammates I get paired with go down faster than a meth addict.

As killer, it's been days since gens were all completed. I don't even play the strong killers. Wraith, Legion, Doc. Most survivors drop like flies. Even Otz's recent video of gens popping left and right with toolboxes and coordination still resulted in a straight up 4k.

Learn to admit to yourself that you actually got outplayed once in a while instead of complaining about not having your ruin crutch to carry you against bad survivors. It's okay to lose from time to time.

  • @MrGummeBear said:

How much fun it is going against a AFK wraith or play against a killer that you make give I'm talking 2 Gens left give up make them stand in a Corner and they don't dc.

Survivors do you still have fun if the Killer just stops playing? No Chases, No Unhooks,Talking nothing not even a hit to heal.

This has only happened to me once. And it was because I was doing the flashlight save challenge and I got someone off the trapper's shoulder. I hate using flashlights and when he went to camp the exit so he could open it the second the gens were done I felt horrible.

That being said, how many killers use cheap tactics and feel bad when they make a survivor DC or just give up and suicide on hook? I don't think I've ever met one that wasn't cackling like a hyena with glee at the notion that they just upset someone.

  • @GHOSTfaceP3 said:

I’d also like to say that I did kill them all but only because I slugged everyone of them during blood fury

This game is completely broken. How dare survivors complete any gens at all? They should spawn right next to hooks and just wait for you to come down and hook them.

Do you realize how ridiculous it is to complain about a game you still slaughtered them in? It doesn't matter if they did three gens in two minutes or twenty. They only got three done and all died.

If anything this is a damning indictment that killers are too powerful and the unlimited self pick-ups of no mother should be baseline. Until killers are incapable of snowballing a game from nothing to 4k in less than a minute, gen times are more than fair.

No one's on a soapbox, you're just saying things that simply aren't genuine. Those groups don't need to be elite if they know how to hold M1 efficiently.

"Most games are a 3-4k unless the killer player was absolute trash."

Most my games are majority team escapes on rank 1 survivor so I don't see this at all.

"Most survivors I run into in both survivor and killer games do every totem and chest they see and don't last more than 20-30 seconds in a chase ever. They rarely run toolboxes, if they run any item at all, and Prove Thyself is extremely rare."

Then we are playing 2 totally different games.

"Even if someone brought DS or BT, it almost never gets used more than maybe once in a game."

Because they are forced too play inefficiently to avoid them, we've gone over this.

"I think maybe 1 in 20 games I'll see a 4-man escape. Unlike 4ks which happen nearly half the time."

Nearly half the games I play on survivor are 4 escapes unless the killers running a NOED and facecamps the first guy at the end which is basically a 4 escape anyway.

"Unless all four survivors completely and utterly focus on gens to the exclusion of all else, the game is entirely in the killer's hands. I never run into random teammates that do that. Ever."

Which is the majority of rank 1 games, which puts most games not in the killers hands. Luckily most survivors are bad.

Then we're very much playing different games or you only play SWF. The survivors I get matched with go down insanely fast. If I run the killer for over a minute, I will usually not see even a single gen pop.

As killer, if you feel you are being "forced" to not intentionally ruin the game for others, you have worse problems than DS and BT. You shouldn't feel like you're being forced to avoid playing like a prick. You should just genuinely not want to play like a dick. I still get far more kills than escapes and I avoid tunneling and camping entirely. Not because of fear of some perk a survivor may or may not have, but because it's both actively detrimental to winning and ruins the experience for the one you do it to.

Most survivors tend to heal. Let them use the time. By the time there is an unhook and a heal, you should already be in a chase if not already have someone down.

No no, you misunderstand. Though I did not mention I was speaking for everyone on the subject. I did purposefully imply it.

Reasoning for why I used, "you" instead of, "I" is that I believe the majority would agree with what I said, thus I stated it as a fact. Admittedly I should have stated "most" when referring to either side, but having it as though the reader would agree with what is said helps to convince most of what you're saying to be the truth. Bit dishonest, I know. But I'll do what I must for the game I feel can be so much better.

See what I did there? I typed it as though it is a fact, which makes for a slightly more convincing tone. At least in my opinion.

And hence I was staying that it was, indeed, not a fact. Just your personal preference. Then I offered my own as counterpoint. I love stealth. Even playing as Kate in bright pinkish purple clothing.

I was never a ruin Killer but damn ever since the update its like Survivors just want to do gens and not get chased any more. Yeah I understand gens are their objective. Hooks are Killers but I don't find in fun just camping hooks to get kills. I'm red rank Killer and I'm finding hard to even enjoy the game anymore. I just get Potatos that can't handle chases, Survivors with every Second chance perk DS and BT are overkill. Or I get Tools boxes and keys. I use to have fun in chases now I'm just rushing to kick gens facing hatch escapes.

Like Survivors Mains. I want to play the game to with having to be forced to slug, tunnel to get D's out the way, and camp hooks, I don't want have to plan a 3 gen Strategy every game.

I just want it to be like the old times I guess.

A lot of contradictory statements in here. Never ran ruin, but somehow the game is more difficult for you.

Don't camp or tunnel but always having to 'get DS out of the way but tunnelinog'. Why are you worrying about DS at all if you don't camp and tunnel?

"You are talking about a very small minority of players. The average survivor does not last more than a minute in a chase. In nearly 1000 hours played, I've seen far, far, far more survivors go down in less than thirty seconds from the perspective of playing either side."

The average survivor doesn't even need to last more 20 seconds in a chase for them to still win with how fast gens go. You call that a minority that play well, but my games are at rank 1 so I amm facing that minority a lot more than most. Survivors don't need to last long in a chase if the team knows how to efficiently hold M1.

"They don't respect killers that play cheap or use perks/addons/moris which feel cheap."

There's very few cheap things on the killer side compared to survivor. Most killers have either 1 or none. Survivors have multiple that can be stacked and are simply perks, not one time use addons.

"People complain about NOED because it feels unearned. People complain about moris because it feels cheap, like the game is handing you kills because you spent 7000 bloodpoints. It's the same about iridescent head hatchets for huntress, or pinky finger on clown. It feels cheap. Things that feel cheap are going to get complained about."

I haven't disagreed with any of this.

"The difference is, the things killers complain about survivors having that's 'cheap' is entirely within their power to avoid."

Wrong. Playing in the way that entirely avoids the survivor "cheap" things against good survivors is how you lose the game if you aren't on a top tier killer. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario when on weaker killers against good survivors.

"Except perhaps Adrenaline. I could see a change for adrenaline where it became an obsession perk and the heal only worked for the obsession."

Adrenaline is totally fine. It costs you a perk all game and rewards you for completing your objective, it is a well balanced perk. Adrenaline only seems bad to some people because it's stacked on top of all the other "second chance" perks and in a game balance time where their objectives do go too fast.

"But DS and BT are both very easy to play around unless you're intentionally trying to make the game poor for a single person. At that point, they're more protection from... and you guessed it... behavior from a killer that feels cheap!"

Wrong. As I stated before, playing in the way that entirely avoids those perks as a weak killer against good survivors is how you lose. There are times when you are forced to camp or tunnel.

"I would also rework Head On. It's I consistent and unreliable thanks to dedicated servers, and is only ever used to troll the killer. Would probably rework flashlights entirely as well for similar reasons."

Both these work fine for me and I don't think they need changes.

I play in and against all red ranks myself, so you can kindly come down from that soapbox. These elite survivor squads that just rush to gens and only do gens are by far in the minority. Most games are a 3-4k unless the killer player was absolute trash.

Most survivors I run into in both survivor and killer games do every totem and chest they see and don't last more than 20-30 seconds in a chase ever. They rarely run toolboxes, if they run any item at all, and Prove Thyself is extremely rare.

Even if someone brought DS or BT, it almost never gets used more than maybe once in a game. I personally don't run either of them. My typical build right now is self-care, Sprint burst, iron will, and calm spirit. I usually end up doing my of the gens and unhooks myself. Most survivors are complete potatoes, even in red ranks.

I think maybe 1 in 20 games I'll see a 4-man escape. Unlike 4ks which happen nearly half the time. Unless all four survivors completely and utterly focus on gens to the exclusion of all else, the game is entirely in the killer's hands. I never run into random teammates that do that. Ever.

  • You didn't say you were talking strictly about yourself. You said "when you play" and "when you do". Using 'you' instead of 'I' means you're referring to the reader, not yourself.

In other words, everything you said, you implied was the truth for everyone that read it. It may not have been your intention, but it's what you said.

  • @AlbinoViera said:

Gens are too quick for the state the game is in now. Neither side can really enjoy a game when the objectives are done in 5 minutes. However, any longer without having something else to do as a survivor is just boring. At the same time, as a killer you are under immense pressure to be perfect because by the time you get a single down, a gen has been done. I've seen 4 gens in 3 minutes multiple times. "Just pressure the gens" they say. Yeah, pressuring 4 people at once is kiiiinda virtually impossible if at least one of them is off doing other gens.

Gotta admit though, it's funny when you're a survivor when the gens fly by, but definitely disheartening when you're playing as a killer, think they'd feel like giving up. Same with chases, it's fun as survivor, way too stressful as killer. Lead a killer to a pallet, stun him, click click the flashlight. Watch and laugh as he gets blinded for kicking it. Then repeat. Ya feel powerful, and for me that's enjoyable. But, from the other perspective it's goes like this: Oh look, a safe pallet. Oh wow, blinded if I try to kick it, looped if I don't. I'll go off to find a different survivor, even though I just wasted a minute and had a gen go off.

Honestly, it's why I don't understand if the balance team understand their game or not. Make it easier for survivors who already don't have to do much, but make killers have to sweat even more than the swimming pool they filled already? It's no wonder matchmaking times have increased. Think Civ 5 has most of our killer playerbase now.

    In short.

Too quick. Needs some sort of slowdown to at least the start of the game.

You don't speak for everyone. I don't find being chased fun at all. I much prefer stealthing around the killer when he's near. The only time I enjoy a chase is if I can give the killer the slip. Running in circles and dropping pallets has never been fun for me.

For similar reasons, playing as killer is not very enjoyable for me in general. I don't enjoy hitting people or running in circles. I tend to play as fairly as possible and feel bad about killing them unless they get salty about it in endgame chat.

  • @Blueberry said:

This has absolutely nothing to do with why survivors don't respect killers.

The reason survivors don't respect killers is because survivors are the power role and they don't need to respect them. They are strong enough that they can play with the killer and don't feel threatened.

You are talking about a very small minority of players. The average survivor does not last more than a minute in a chase. In nearly 1000 hours played, I've seen far, far, far more survivors go down in less than thirty seconds from the perspective of playing either side.

They don't respect killers that play cheap or use perks/addons/moris which feel cheap. No one complains about devour hope because when you get exposed by it, you know it was earned through gameplay. No one complains about make your choice for the same reason. The killer had to leave the hook for it.

People complain about NOED because it feels unearned. People complain about moris because it feels cheap, like the game is handing you kills because you spent 7000 bloodpoints. It's the same about iridescent head hatchets for huntress, or pinky finger on clown. It feels cheap. Things that feel cheap are going to get complained about.

  • Killers can go in naked and win. Tru3 did an entire challenge month without perks and got to rank one on both sides. It's perfectly possible.

I pretty much only play M1 killers: Wraith, Legion, and Doc both old and new. I was running CI before the patch and either run it or new ruin after.

The perks aren't supposed to *make* the pressure for you. Downing and hooking or slugging survivors creates your pressure. It's not difficult to snowball with only one or two gens left and make survivor progress practically non-existent until you end up with 3 or 4 kills. You aren't expected to ever keep 5 gens past the first few minutes.

Strategize. Pick a side of the map and hold it. Burn the pallets there ASAP and when they get down to the last 2 gens they need they have no where safe to run to as you patrol it. There are tons of plans and strategies that don't rely on survivors to be potatoes at skillchecks.

It's not "ruin" that's was the problem so much as why they nerfed it in the first place. To make the game easier for newbies. That kind of behavior is screwing with the game. Every time they lower the bar for the new players it becomes easier for the skilled ones. It was a perk that only affected bad survivors. So then why did they nerf it in the first place? It helped keep those newbies out of red ranks. Now they rank up even easier than before. We got red survivors that drop pallets prematurely. Tell me the ruin nerf didn't encourage that?

Ruin was a band aid that was thrown over a severed limb. It wasn't much but it was something. Now that its gone the main issue is still not addressed. Also toolboxes are strong now because there is nothing stopping them early game. You could run Franklins but you cant hit everyone carrying one before they complete a gen.

Everyone just dismiss's the gen speeds by saying apply pressure or git gud. Well you cant pressure 4 people at once. Perks are not a solution to something that is broken with the core mechanics. You also say that if you depended on ruin your a bad killer. I call bullshit. Many of the killers lack early game pressure and mobility. They need ruin, intervention, pgtw or something that slows down the game. And I dont care how old this argument gets. It wont go away until it's fixed or the game dies. Keep nerfing killers and buffing newbie survivors and that's exactly where its heading.

Okay.. and what's stopping them from running CI or PGtW then? Even new ruin can slow the game down plenty of they don't break it and you can push them off gens. Combining it with a tracking perk like BBQ, discordance, or surveillance let's you know where to go to apply that pressure.

You have options. Lots of them. You just can't rely on ruin to do it all for you now.

Toolboxes, Prove Thyself, huge maps, and how small the penalty for stacking on a gen is... Those are the real problems. Not base gen speeds.

  • @ABannedCat said:

While I sympathise with the time pressure placed on killer caused by generator-speed, I also try to see it from the other side.

If survivors weren't able to pump out all 5 generators within 2 minutes, it would mean that in order to win the killer just needs to camp everyone on the hook to death, since the survivors have no meaningful way to punish it. Thus making fast generators a nessecary evil.

Map design, and survivors stacking up 2nd chance perks are more of a problem in my opinion. If you have a big map like Mother's Dwelling or a map littered with zero-counterplay loops like Blood Lodge, there is really nothing the killer can do if survivors are determined to finish the generators. The chasetime and the time it takes for killers to patrol generators is what causes the imbalance in my opinion.

Honestly, a good way to change that is to remove the hook timer altogether. Camping is now utterly pointless. Everyone gets three hook phases (replacing the struggle mashing with a simple give up button), and now we can slow other things down some.

Can still leave the penalty for trying to Kobe as three failed attempts will put you into struggle phase. Have it so that if you're the last survivor in the trial and you were already hooked, it just kills you instead of drawing it out.

  • Honestly? Standard repair times are largely fine. Toolboxes, Prove Thyself, huge maps, and stacking on a gen are where things can get silly.

Without any of those things, it can already be very difficult for average survivors to get gens done. So changing any of the base times is not a good plan. Prove thyself should be reworked to have nothing to do with gen speeds, stacking on a gen should have a much harsher penalty than it does currently, and toolboxes need to do something other than just improve gen times. Perhaps making working on one quieter or counter perks around gen auras like surveillance or discordance for as long as it's being used.

Point is, you need to work only on the crazy outlier situations and not the general gen times.

    Crazy idea for prove thyself:

"Escaping the killer in a chase fills you with confidence, granting you one token, stacking three times. Each token reduces repair/healing/cleansing/opening exit speeds by 9/7/5% but increases movement speed by 3%. At three stacks, gain the broken status. Being hooked removes all tokens."

Exactly, you are not playing to provide fun for opposite side, you are playing for YOUR fun so play any style you like, if you like NOED, tunnel, camp, just do it. Survivors will not ask you if they can gen rush or voice comm. They dont care about killers fun you dont have to care about their 😉

Exactly. Do everything you can to make sure the other four people playing have the worst time possible. Make sure they never want to play this game again! We don't need people playing this game. Screw this game! Yeah! Anarchy! Burn it all down!

Oh... Wait no... That's only how you think if you're a bit touched in the head. Pretty sure you lot don't want queue times for killers going like they go on new chapter ptbs. Maybe don't try to go out of your way to make the game as miserable as possible for your opponents. That goes for killers and survivors alike.

I'm in the same boat. Since they nerfed ruin survivors have an easier time ranking up. Killers are depipping because it's harder without early game pressure. So the red ranks are flooded with survivors that shouldnt be there and killers very scarce cause no one is playing till they fix this mess. Once you que up long enough the match making then throws the first available killer your way. regardless of what rank you are.

Which is why they are going to hide the ranks so you can't "see" that your getting screwed.

Learn not to rely on ruin to screw over survivors with bad reaction times. The perk basically won the game against bad survivors and did nearly nothing against good ones.

If it's really about "eArLy GaMe PrEsSuRe" then use Corrupt Intervention and make it so the survivors have to come closer earlier. If they hide, they forfeit two minutes for which you can find one and start a chase.

Ruin was an unhealthy perk for the game. It taught killers they didn't need to try at low ranks and survivors felt immediate annoyance upon seeing that skillcheck. So much so that at low ranks people abandoned trying to do the gens and wandered the map all game for the one totem stopping them, often getting all four killed.

  • I'd say that considering you still 3k'd in spite of the rather severe rank disparity shows that Freddy is a bit too strong.

Oh sorry English teacher, I'll try better next time. Of course I know what pretentious means or I wouldn't of used it, my point still stands in that survivor mains feel like they are better than everyone else by BMing in end chat, teabagging after dropping a pallet and flashlight clicking throughout the game.

Don't assume I'm stupid and please for the love of God, don't correct people's grammar, you haven't done it here but you're definitely one of those people. Never assume 🙂

Using a word incorrectly annoys the piss out of me. Every time I see someone here say "the point is mute" I want to beat my head into a wall. The word is moot. Moot. Not mute. This isn't about grammar so much as it is making you look ignorant while attempting to appear intelligent. You come off the exact opposite of how you think.

Also, I run into far more BMing killers than survivors. Nodding, shaking their heads, spamming attacks on the hooked survivor, etc. Hell a Ghostface the other day cost himself the fourth kill because once he finally downed me at one gen left he just kept hitting me on the hook, giving the last survivor just enough time to beat him to the hatch.

BMing is dumb for both sides. Getting triggered by it is even dumber. They're giving you free time instead of doing something useful. Laugh at their stupidity and move on

If a perk slot is the cost itself then we have a lot of other perks that are getting double negatives that aren't even as strong. Calling that the cost for it's strength level is a bit of a stretch. Current BT you just yolo in for the save with zero thought or timing because of it's current design.

"Exhaustion perks aside, every single survivor perk is heavily situational. Most games will go by without using half of them. Even the "meta" perks are all situational."

The current survivor meta perks are quite literally the opposite of situational. DS, BT, Unbreakable etc are not situational, let me explain. Even IF the perks do not activate, they have STILL done a lot for you. If they didn't activate then the killer played completely "fair" by survivor standards and you would have won the game anyway if you and your team were actually good. If you still lost then ya'll misplayed a lot. The fact that they force a killer to play a certain way to intentionally avoid them activating IS why they are strong.

"Adrenaline requires gens completed and even then can be completely useless if you're uninjured and not currently in a Chase."

I have zero issue with Adrenaline. It rewards doing their objective with a perk down. Well designed perk.

"DS is useless if you don't get tunneled. BT is useless if the killer doesn't camp. Unbreakable does nothing if you don't get slugged. So on and so on."

Refer to my response on meta perks above. You're entirely missing the value those perks are giving you even when they don't activate.

"Hell, three of those perks wouldn't even be the "meta" if killers just played better. They'd be useless."

I don't think you play killer at a high level or you would see how much this sentence isn't accurate at all.

Was rank 3 before I memed in the basement with bubba for a few hours. I normally play Legion, Doc(before and after rework), and Wraith. I never deal with BT. Occasionally a survivor with DS does something stupid and ends up eating dirt for a little while, but I don't ever go after them after the unhook. I always run BBQ and go for someone else after a hook. I won't go back when they get unhooked unless it's down to just two survivors.

I still usually get 3-4 kills. Playing killer isn't as hard as the poor martyrs on this forum want you to believe. Yeah, maybe one in ten games you face that elite squad that plays 100% optimal and all escape. Yeah sorry, but I'm not going to play that hard for what amounts to a normally easy, relaxed game. I'd rather have one bad game every now and then than just crap all over every survivor I face. Most survivors are potatoes.

Boy, do you even play killer?

    • DS can be used even when not being tunneled
    • BT can be used even when not being camped
    • Adrenaline allows you to speed trough gens and can save your ass if slugged or being chased after the last gen pops.
    • Agreed, unbreakable is easily counterable by just picking up survivors

Yes, I do. I hover around rank 4-5 right now since I don't find playing bully simulator very fun. Most games are a complete slaughter with 3-4 kills depending on if the last one finds hatch before me. I never get DS'd nor do I have to deal with BT.

But hey, feel free to ignore me and complain about easily avoidable perks because you want to play like a jerk. The perks do exist because of killers' behavior after all.

I actually see the no TR on some killers as one of the only weaknesses/downsides to using the perk which seems fine to me. Kinda like facing a Plague after you brought We'll Make It, Botany, etc. Gotta have some downsides, it's a game swinging perk that asks nothing of the survivor already. As far as downsides on other perks go I'd say having it countered by just a couple killers situationally is already being pretty generous. For how strong it is it should have probably had more tbh.

Asks nothing of the survivor running it? Just a perk slot that's useless against people that don't camp.

Exhaustion perks aside, every single survivor perk is heavily situational. Most games will go by without using half of them. Even the "meta" perks are all situational.

Adrenaline requires gens completed and even then can be completely useless if you're uninjured and not currently in a Chase.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

So solos have no counter to camping? Sounds fair enough, they'll just have to run another core survival perk that covers up issues with game mechanics.

Memes aside, this would only be healthy tbh. Too bad that there are no more options for altruistic builds, but them's the dice.

Uh... You have BT to counter camping. If you unhook someone in front of a camper and they weren't running BT, that's on them, not you. The perk still does exactly what it was designed for, but now let's you decide if you want that protection instead of the random stranger coming to farm... er unhook you.

There's a reason why people main specific Killers. Maybe strength, preferred playstyle, but I wonder about the other side. I ask you, survivor mains of the Fog, do you main a specific Survivor? Survivors don't have something others don't, they have teachables, but those are shared with others, so I'm rather curious as to why people main specific ones. If you do main a specifc Survivor, who, and why do you?

I main Kate cause she's hot as hell and great to look at. I wish I could say there was more to it than that, but it is what it is. Even if I lean towards the menfolk myself, they really aren't much to look at and picking the survivor skin is all about aesthetics.

So I just got a 4k as doctor. I am currently rank 10 and use brown add-ons (low on blood points due to systematically leveling up my killers) and they had two rank 5's and two rank 4's. I didn't tunnel, nor did I camp. I type in ggwp in the end and they say gg. Then they notice I had NoEd and then said, nevermind, no gg because of it.

How does one compute that thought process? They cleansed my Ruin right after they completed their first gen. So I was already down to three perks left. Then I kill them all, except for one who died on her second hook because they took too long to get her. NoEd never activated since there was still one gen left, so I was basically playing the match with just two perks! Imagine if killers were able to completely two negate perks like survivors could and limit them to two perks for most of a match, they would riot.

I hardly ever see Killers complain in chat after a match, nor do I ever see them insult someone as often as I see survivors do. Are Survivors a bunch of 14 year olds these days?

I just don't understand Survivor mains thought process. Even if NoEd does activate, it would have completely been their fault. Seems like Killers can't get respect unless they go in to meme and let everyone escape. Why play the game if you aren't willing to lose sometimes? Just go play some Animal Crossing or something if you can't handle it.

I limit survivors to one or two perks all the time. I don't tunnel, so never eat a DS. Don't camp, so BT is a wasted perk. Don't slug often so unbreakable is useless 95% of the time...

Really, it's not hard to deny survivor perks.

This isnt punishing stealth play and "stealth play" shouldnt be rewarded. Hiding from the killer all game means doing nothing. If u work on a gen you will be found. Maybe get good at chases instead of urban evasioning around lol. It literally rewards a single surv by encouraging interaction and allows teamwork because it allows gens to actually begin to be worked on. It hurts no one in the long term and makes killer feel less hopeless.

Last night I "hid from the killer" most of the game. Was chased once, where I slipped them, did three gens myself and unhooked 4 people safely, then broke his 3-stack devour hope and another hex as well as two dull totems. Then proceeded to escape through the hatch as my potato team finally perished.

Considering I basically did *everything* myself, I find it hard to take you seriously when you say stealth play accomplishes nothing.

  • @luka2211 said:

@thrawn3054 i never understood what's so fun about stealthing? There is so small amount of interaction between killer and survivor,if there's any tbh at all. Enlighten me

It's the thrill of evading the killer. He's there and he's actively looking for you while you slip around an object. I find it far more enjoyable to play cat and mouse in this scenario than I ever have playing ring-around-the-rosie with loops.

In a chase, I look for an opportunity to stop running and slip from sight, to lose the killer entirely and disappear like a ghost. It's far more thrilling for me to genuinely outplay and lose a killer, to watch them frantically searching where they'd lost me than it ever was to run them in circles until they down me or give up.

I don't feel I won when they choose to walk away. When I slip away though, those are the moments I love most.

  • @KrispiesChicken said:

In honesty I believe every killer is missing something. It's supposed to be a horror sided and no one is actually scared of any of the killers. Only Spirit freaks me out

The problem starts with all the tracking perks and abilities killers have at their disposal. If those were removed, stealth becomes viable, with stealth viable we can gut the entire concept of looping and the game becomes all about stealth. Because the moment you're found, you know you're screwed fairly quickly.

If stealth becomes the focus, you won't see people running everywhere all the time and pounding out gens with the killer nearby. Suddenly the killer is frightening and the gen speeds slow to a crawl.

Getting rid of the tracking perks is the first step to fixing a hell of a lot of this game's issues.

You won't wisdom? It's a game a casual one at that stop coming on here bullying others because they post something you dislike. Red rank survivor you say like it is a trophy you mount on wall when nobody cares what rank you, me or anyone is.

Take a leaf out of the first commenter book or just don't comment now stop quoting me I do not want to talk to someone that thinks less of people if they do specific thing and thinks rank is some trophy rather than showing to time spent on playing current season.

Point is, there is a legit reason for 99'ing the gates and it's done on purpose because it has several advantages.

Ignoring advantages is ignorant at best, willfully selfish or malicious at worst.

  • @Cronk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1071742#Comment_1071742

So people are stupid for playing the game how it was intended? There's really no discussion to be had with someone that thinks that sorry

Intentionally taking an action that hurts your team is either selfish or stupid. It comes from being self-centered or ignorant. If you know better than to do it, you're self-centered. If you don't, then it's ignorance. Not difficult to follow the logic.

Opening the gate early puts pressure on everyone else for no reason. If you have a reason to disadvantage everyone else in the game other than selfishness or stupidity, please feel free to share. The rest of us red ranked survivors would love to hear your wisdom.

Do you even know what that word means? I didn't demand anything I politely asked and you come here just to ######### on me as though you are some almighty pro player.

Your logic is flawed so if someone is getting chased your logic is to not even open a gate but to expect them to go down because you want to cheese a killer out of a perk that rarely gets used anyway. Please don't make up lies saying I'm demanding anything when clearly I haven't if you don't like me you can kindly ignore posts with my user attached to them

You 99 the gate and then wait at the switch to watch for the survivor being chased. When you see him, you open and run to take protection hits. It's not rocket science. It's better for you being chased if the gates aren't open when you go down, your team has the time to come for you. If the EGC timer is running and you get hooked, you're more likely to be abandoned.

You don't 99 the gates for yourself. It's for the team. Only the selfish and the stupid open the gates without the killer right there.

Oh I agree. But that's killer to killer. I'm comparing killer to survivor.

The survivors are already running in circles, looping for ages, pallet slams, window vaults, exhaustion perks, BT, all the other things people complain about. So why should they be able to walk around a corner faster than me? I just want to be able to wall hug at the same efficiency that they do. It will cut down on looping.

Because you're 10-15% faster. Looping is literally the only defense against a killer once you're found and there are far too many tracking perks and abilities to make it more of a game of hide and seek.

  • @CrescentGent said:

My god are survivor mains self pretentious and over privileged. Sigh.

How does one become "self pretentious"? Do you even know what pretentious means or are you just using a big word you heard on TV once in an attempt to sound intelligent?

Pretentious means acting like you're better than someone else. Like what you're attempting and failing to do with your post. Please don't use words you don't understand. It's very transparent.

On topic: Most killers relied heavily on ruin and/or NOED. Without ruin, they have no idea what to do against survivors that aren't potatoes. Many of these killers have now swapped to survivor to join the potato farm and the remaining killers still get easy wins more often than not.

In my killer games, (I hover around rank 4-5 because I don't play killer without a ritual or challenge) I rarely have more than a hatch escape. Having a game with a full team of good survivors is insanely rare. Didn't have all five gens get done against me once in the last few days.

  • @neekocheeko said:

Doing the killer challenges was god damn painful, I might just skip the killer side of the tomes honestly. I don't belong in red ranks as killer, hell I don't even have 90% of the teachables there.

Playing as survivor has been super boring lately too. Matches are done within 3-5 minutes, and sometimes I won't even see the killer cause someone on my team will run him forever. So I just end up going from gen to gen cause what else am I gonna do?

Stop playing with your elite SWF death squad and you'll realize the game isn't like that at all for the average player

    Game is survivor sided.

That doesn't seem like a fact, as you're just bringing it up without any proof to back it up.

If you think a 5 minute game is fair in a game like this, then. It's just a bad mixup for you. Sorry to say, but the facts aren't just there.

They released these stats not that long ago, even disregarding all games where someone DC'd. They were posted right here on the forums. The kill rate was something like 60% even if you only count all games where all the survivors played until they escaped or died.

If you counted the DC games that number would be astronomically more in favor of killers. Killers just like being able to walk in and 4k the majority of their games without effort.

  • Should really make a thread titled "Why Did You Lie About Quitting DBD?" If you have feedback, leave it, but don't pretend you quit. If you quit you wouldn't be here trying to engage with the "toxic, survivor heavy" community.

Fact: Killers get more kills than escapes across all ranks. But please continue to tell us how "survivor-sided" the game is.

I dont mind playing with friends but the issue its communication and optimal play.

It's just not possible to prevent. If you somehow prevent people from using discord, people will just use their phones. People want to play with their friends. Short of killing the game, you cannot prevent it.

The only thing you can do is find ways to buff the solo queue players up to that level and then tweak killer balance to compensate.

Also, don't forget that most SWF are actually playing worse than solos. Most are just talking with friends as they play and the voice chat is more distracting and detrimental than helpful. The elite SWF coordinating on comms to play absolutely optimal is extremely rare.

Honestly removing the entire emblem system and ranking altogether would go a long way to improving the health of the game. It's a casual game and needs to stop pretending to be otherwise.

  • @Victor_hensley said:

Killers cant be toxic if survivors are nothing but toxic

The overwhelming majority of people playing this game are toxic. They do whatever they can to ruin the experience of the other players whether it's the killer doing it to survivors, survivors doing it to the killer, or survivors doing it to other survivors.

The real reason SWF is such an advantage is because you at least know the other three with you aren't going to be ######### that intentionally sandbag you or farm you in front of the majority of killers that camp.

Easy For one I matched with the same 3 people who admitted they were SWF at the end game chat. She kept trying for flashlight save and followed me.

And the next game all were on Com's becuase of how they were playing calling out my location using toolboxes and just all on generator's. Im not mad just saying I can't try different playstyles when all everyone wants to do is rush generator's. Now I can play seriously but in the end I just don't like playing that way for a game that isn't that serious. And when entitled survivor mains like you jump in and im playing tryhard you'll still whine and cry camper tunneling!

How did they have time to rush gens if they were following you around with a flashlight?

  • I'm red ranked and have been every month since I started in October 2018. I run self care. Why? Because it's reliable. If I need to get past a killer in an exit gate, self care can make that possible. If I need to go for the unhook, self care can make it possible.

Just last night I used it to help unhook someone from a camping Legion and bodyblock a hit for him. If I hadn't been able to heal, I don't think I could have saved him or escaped at all.

Just because you don't like the perk doesn't make it a bad perk. It still uses less time to self care than it does to find another survivor and then get them to heal you.
