  • Against DS and Head On, yes. But against pallets it was a slight buff. However, now they can add more stun stuff without worrying about whether the killer has endurance. That was the main point of the change. To keep it from becoming a required perk.

  • I never deal with DS as a killer. Just don't go back to your hook and you're fine.

Second, it's a five second stun that no longer is affected by enduring so that the survivor gets a chance to get somewhere instead of just immediately being smacked back down. The perk is powerful for a reason, but whether or not it does anything is *entirely* in the hands of the killer.

just admit that you're noob who can't play without ds the end.

I literally don't run it. I never run it. I typically run self care, botany, Sprint burst, and BT since there are so many camping twats.

  • You can't delete it permanently. At any time you can go to the customer support and get it put back with a few clicks. There is no escape.

  • It's a term used by a *lot* of people to refer to self unhooking due to the ridiculously low chance of it happening. So yes, it's relevant to DBD.

perk combination does not measure someone's cap of skill you person

And about git gud, when killer gives his best and plays well, deservers 3 kills at least, they ds and say git gud. So don't talk to me that way at all, you act like you play this game in parallel universe.

The entitlement. Just because you play well doesn't mean you deserve anything. You can play well and still get outplayed. But no, go ahead and blame a perk that is 100% in you control to avoid.

The point is that DS was never meant to give the rescued survivor a free ticket to do whatever they want. Many survivors would (possibly rightfully) just keep on repairing generators next to the killer and make progress. This type of "mocking" the killer is certainly not intended. The same applies on using lockers as a save spot, although survivors won't make any progress on that, but the principle stays the same.

Survivors will work on a gen in front of a killer with or without DS. Depends on if the killer is chasing someone and how close the gen is to done. Has nothing to do with "mocking" you. Get over yourself.

Honestly, that attitude is one of the major problems with this community. You take everything done by your opponents as a personal attack. If you think working on a gen while you're nearby as an insult, then you need a reality check. Not everything is about you. They're just trying to complete their objective. Lose the ego and you'll be quite a bit happier with life.

    It's 4perks vs 12 perks.

    4 people vs 1 guy

1 ds is enough, with 4 ds's you lose 20 seconds of the game, and thats 25% of one gen.

Why did they nerf enduring then when you get hit by ds? They want survivors as power role, they can sell donuts to kids but not to adults who analyse their behaviour, their actions.

Stop tunneling and you will *never* be hit by DS. It's entirely in your power to avoid this perk as well as BT. Get your hook and move on to the next survivor. These perks exist entirely because of people like you.

As I said, Unbreakable is not required to make DS useful. At red ranks, ruin needs something else to even be remotely useful, and even then, it's trash tier.

No, you don't. Ruin is insidious and very powerful if ignored. You as the killer just need to push the survivors off of the gen for it to work.

DS does literally nothing if you don't tunnel off the hook. BT and DS are both 100% avoidable if you don't play like a jerk. I never get hit with either of them. They're completely wasted perks. The only reason they're "meta" is because most killers are toxic jerks... And only toxic jerks complain about them.

  • @ReallyBigShoe said:

No. It doesn't. You don't need unbreakable for DS to be useful at any given rank.

And you don't *need* surveillance for ruin to be useful, nor vice versa.

They actually did say they didn't want slow down perks to have as much synergy. On top of that, the suggestion was "run ruin, with pop as an insurance policy". Like...what do survivors have to run with borrowed time and DS for their insurance policy? By suggesting that we even NEED other perks as an insurance policy, they're outright admitting that Ruin is garbage now.

Survivors run unbreakable as their insurance policy for DS, since the main counter is to slug them.

  • OP, you just answered your own question I your first post. It's not fun. It is, in fact, frustrating. When it happens several games in a row, a lot of people get to the point of quitting.

Tunneling and camping is honestly one of the main reasons I'm only playing survivor for rituals or challenges now. What's the worst a survivor can do to me? Run away? Blind me with a flashlight? Pfft.

This stat shows it's almost twice as easy to get rank 1 as survivor. Game is survivor sided anyone disagreeing is kidding themselves.

Also I'm a survivor main before people start complaining

And yet there are four times as many survivors as killers. Yet only twice as many rank 1's. Sure sounds like it's slanted in the killer's favor.

I don't think your reading this correctly.

I'm asking you to tell me how killers are supposed to apply early game pressure.

CI does indeed help, but ruin has been working fantastically for me the last two days. I'm running doc most of the time and I can push people off gens quick with my blast. Just have to break off chases you can't win quickly to push them off again when that gen starts getting worked on.

Don't let a survivor pull you halfway across the map. Lot of times I injure them and come back when they're in a weaker spot.

  • Honestly, there are only two points I can agree with: toolboxes need to be looked at and massively huge maps need to be tweaked to be more rationally sized.

I'm doing just fine at killer as a survivor main of the last 15 months. Now I main killer and am up to rank 4 after just a couple days. My only loss in two days has been on one of the larger Badham maps, but that was before I put on the ruin/surveillance combo.

Admittedly, I dodge any lobby with more than one toolbox, though.

So if it takes 30 seconds to find someone and then 2 people are on 2 gen and another person is on another gen by the time you have that 1st one one gen is done and the other almost done, then by the time their hooked the next gen is done and the other two are on another gen together and it may take 30 secs to find them that's another gen basically done within the first 2-3 mins most of the gens are done and it's basically easy from there, how can you look back at mistakes made when there's just nothing you can do to slow the gens down especially as a lot of the maps are big and a lot of the killers don't have a good ability to pressure well. It's your opinion and I have mine. Thanks for participating in a normal discussion at least unlike others lol.

I think I found your problem. Apparently, you are playing games against 6 survivors, since by the time you're chasing one there are two others on two gens and a fifth in a third gen.

You shouldn't sweat it if you're playing against hackers. Of course you'll lose. Record that game so you can report it to BHVR.

Ok. My two cent then. This patch made me switch from survivor main to killer. Gens have been completed once in two days, every other game has been a 4k. Playing Legion, Wraith, and the mostly Doc.

Queues are instant and blood points are flowing like a river. Having much more fun than I ever did as survivor. All the power of the game is in my hands. I even 4k'd on Thompson House, though it was a tough game.

So if a person is insulted by someone else essentially saying that they're gullible, financially irresponsible and have no self control, that means they're admitting that the other person is correct?

That makes absolutely no sense, but okay.

Have you considered that they play the game a lot and enjoy it and therefore want to continue to support it here and there so the game can continue to be played?

I'm nearing 900hours played since I bought the game 15 months ago. I've spent around $200 by now. That means I've gotten more than four hours of fun for every dollar I've spent. No other game or piece of entertainment has ever given me that much value before.

I certainly don't mind throwing them another $10 for a rift pass that will give me back every single auric cell I spent to get it plus a ton of cosmetics.

  • So, before paying for a rift pass to support the game, you should know that some challenges require DLC characters that you most likely already bought to support said game?

    ...K.

  • @TunnelVision said:

I did the opposite. Killer is far more fun than survivor right now. I find it easier than survivor now, you get more BP, and you have basically no queue time. Win, win, win.

Wonder if it's because there are so many bad killers that swapped to being bad survivors.

These whole forums seem to heavily be a L2P issue.

Okay, so why should I as a killer be punished for bad decision making on the side of the survivor? Why not spend an extra 10s on a gen for me to walk away instead of running to unhook right as I turn around?

It's not bad decision making. They know what they're doing. They have the perks to protect them and are smartly using them to their advantage. Stop playing their game. Punish them with a time out on the floor to think about what they've done.

  • Maps are for preventing NOED by hunting down the totems as well as to track the hatch with the right addon. Also fantastic for avoiding trapper bear traps

    "Stop playing like a Jerk"

Can we stop insulting people for playing in a manner that feels right to them?

It's only natural for players to gravitate to the path of least resistance. You can't insult people for playing in a matter that's inuative - especially when people are rescuing in a dumb manner and the person who just got rescued is terrible at making themselves scarce. That being said, I have no problems with the perk. It does what it needs to and has viable counter play. I only object to people throwing insults for styles of play.

Borrowed Time is another necessary perk because it's in the killer's best interest to NOT camp in most situations - therefore perks like this are necessary to train what is strategically the right decision. Because it's based on terror radius, the more creative killer's can counterplay if they feel they need to.

If the shoe fits, sir. The point is, there are more intelligent and efficient things you should be doing. If you do them, these two perks are wasted slots. These perks exist to counter this frustrating playstyle in the first place. Play better and they aren't an issue.

  • @Lucama said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1022714#Comment_1022714

DS is a minute of "don't touch me bro" that can be gamed with lockers, and is only needed on one surv to make it look like all 4 could have it. And apologies for camping for all of 4s as a surv comes barreling in with BT for the save, but sure it's "anti-camp". And still, it's about use rate.

You're missing the point. Just don't go after the unhooked person and you will *never* deal with DS. Ever. When you hook someone, go after someone else immediately. The hooked person can't do a gen, the one going for the unhook isn't doing a gen, and the one you're now chasing isn't doing a gen.

Stop wasting time camping and going after freshly unhooked people just to complain about gen times. You're the one not pushing the others off the gens.

  • @Lucama said:

DS wasn't nerfed, BT was nerfed from god mode to merely S tier, still used in more than 80% of loadouts I'd imagine.

DS was heavily nerfed. It used to work on all 4 survivors every time they were picked up until they hit it. Now, it only procs if the killer is playing like a jerk.

BT only exists to allow saves for when the killer is camping. Stop camping and it will be a useless perk. It's exceptionally rare for me to get hit with DS or to see someone get the deep wound from BT.

Play better. In my games, every survivor with those perks might as well only have two perks all game.

Ruin used in 80% for lack of ideas

You honestly believe that killers used Ruin because they just weren't creative?

I used Ruin because I didn't have a choice. My creativity was limited because the game was so unbalanced that a single perk was basically required for consistent results on certain killers.

Do you think BBQ is used so often because killers just don't know how to get more points?

You had plenty of choice. I wasn't using ruin before and did fine. Now I use the new one and do even better than I was.

  • I don't think anyone is of "equal" skill. If I lose, they were better. If win, they were worse. Pretty simple. No one will ever be your perfect equal.

  • If I can do it with Doc, addonless wraith, and Legion, you can do it. Some maps are too big that's all.

  • I honestly don't see how people are having a hard time now. I played 5 killer games last night, 2-4 red rank survivors each game, and. One was a full red SWF. I only had 4 escapes the entire night. One hatch, three on Badham.

First game was Legion on the swamp, 4k.

Next was Wraith without add-ons on the chapel map. 4k.

Then three games as Doc, the first one I used NOED and that was the game with 3 escapes and the only game with more than 3 gens being completed.

The other two were horrible 4k slaughters using the ruin/surveillance combo on the Game and Ironworks. The one on the Game map was the SWF and ended with 4 Iris and a perfect score.

Double pipped from rank 7 up to 5 with a black pip on the one I 'lost'. I played super nice every game. No camping, no tunneling. I expect to soar through red ranks next time I play.

I don't see why everyone is complaining. None of the games had a high mobility killer and I didn't sweat my ass off either. I don't even consider myself a great killer. If you can't do the same, you aren't as good as you think. I'm happy having switched to main killer in this patch, Doc in particular.

  • Stop using toolboxes. Go break totems. Don't bring an item at all and go loot chests. Go be altruistic. Watching a gen regress and freeze for a few seconds because someone missed a skill check was annoying.

Or go play killer. You'll have a ton to do if you're so bored.

The real solution is to fix ranking and matchmaking so red ranks stop getting paired with green ranked killers.

Good killers already didn't run ruin as it was unreliable.

If you already have a totem in mind finding is usually less than 10 sec

Yes, once. I can go tank hits as much as is needed all game without concern.

  • @OtakuFreak said:

When is this perk going to be fixed? It is intended as a defensive perk for survivors when a killer tunnels them. As such, it is essentially an ''anti-tunnel'' perk yet it benefits the survivor even outside this context.

I propose these changes for the perk, in order to ensure it stays in the role of ''anti-tunnel'' and not ''anti-momentum'' or 60 seconds of invincibility:

    1) Decisive Strike immediately deactivates upon another survivor being hooked. The killer directly chasing, downing and hooking another survivor (even if it's within a minute) is not considered ''tunnelling'' and thus, DS should deactivate.

    2) As a defensive perk, it should allow a survivor a chance to escape and regain their bearings (i.e escape, heal). As such, any aggressive actions such as: unhooking other survivors, repairing generators, or stunning the killer immediately deactivate the perk.

    3) Should a survivor hide inside a locker and be picked up, Decisive Strike's effectiveness will be weakened by 50% (to 2.5 seconds of stun). As this strategy ensures a stun, it is reasonable for the strength of the strategy to be weakened.

Thoughts? I'm pretty adamant on the first two being absolute. Perhaps the third one is negotiable... but then again hiding inside a locker with no counter play isn't entirely fair.

Decisive was already nerfed just fine. I haven't been hit by a Decisive I wasn't intending to be hit by since it was nerfed. Just slug them and come back later or ignore them if they hop in a locker. Or just eat it and get it out of the way.

The perk has plenty of ways to work around it, most notably by not racing back to the hook when someone is unhooked.

  • @HYthinger said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1017135#Comment_1017135

    no not at all.

    noed works like this.

While Adreanaline rewards you for doing your objective noed rewards you for losing.

Even though both perks a crutches. one of them is atleast deserved the other is not.

While other perks like unbreakable or DS are just second chances. unbreakable removes the punishment of being downed if the killer trys to win time by slugging and ds can active even if u downed 2 others as long as the timer didnt run out.

With the ruin nerf, I feel NOED is more punishing survivors for not breaking totems than rewarding the killer. As of today, I no longer look down on killers that run it. You have time to break totems now. Just do it.

That said, glad to see ruin gutted. It was very annoying, even if I can hit greats more often than not.

  • @Waffleyumboy said:

Actually inner strength is still faster adding totem breaking

Not if you add finding one into the mix. Yes breaking and hopping into an adjacent locker would be faster. But that's not reliable, nor is it something you can do frequently. And if you're competing with multiple other people for totems for inner strength...

I can break every totem without concern, and I can heal myself in the exit to go for that last minute save.

I've run the totem/locker build that Puppets has been using a lot. I still frequently end up wishing I had self care in the moment. I am red ranked every month and have been for over a year. I find it invaluable as someone that likes to play altruistically and self-sufficient.

  • I take self care because it's just flat out universally reliable. Inner strength has a limit on how many heals you can possibly get and encourages skipping totems to not waste potential heals. If you are in the end game and already used it, it would take far more time to find a totem, break it, and then find a locker, then get in and heal than it ever would to just self care. And without self care, it's largely suicide to go back in for the save.

You don't need to hell immediately every time you're hit, but when you need to, nothing will *always* get you healed like self care can.

So again, IF its actually over, then why does the game not just end the moment the last gen is popped?

Lets forget NoeD all together and just have the game end then right?

Might sound weird but im more in favor of skipping the bs and just doing it that way then ellongating the match further for apperently no reason.

You can still get kills. You just aren't entitled to them. When the last gen pops, the game is basically over. Just like when you close the hatch, the game is basically over and nine times out of ten that last survivor is screwed.

Just because you have another chance to escape/get kills does not mean the game isn't basically over. That timer exists to end the game definitely. Last call. Do what you can while you can, but the game is essentially over.

Does that means survivors are also not entitled to key/hatch escapes when they haven't done a single gen?

If so, I agree with you.

They are not entitled to anything. If they get to a hatch then they get the escape. They don't 'deserve' the escape, no. By finding it before the killer or using a key that the killer failed to keep from them, then they earned that escape, gens or not.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1014113#Comment_1014113

EGC is pressure for both sides. There’s no “free pressure” my guy. Both sides have a 2 minute timer, but when a killer does their job in EGC they are penalized by a slowdown that aids survivors with the chance to save their teammate or make it to a gate. are you really not realizing how that’s favorable to a survivor more than a killer? EGC should be straightforward. Bam 2 minute timer thats it. BHVR indirectly penalizes a killer with additional time to survivors for a killer hooking or downing a survivor.

The killer is under no added pressure during EGC. That happened the moment the last gen popped. EGC is entirely to make survivors leave. 99'ing a gate is to try and help teammates before putting them under added pressure. Yes, the slowdown is entirely designed to give the survivors a chance to save. You are not entitled to a kill because you surprise-downed a survivor with NOED.

If you want kills, try earning them before they finish the gens. EGC is to make the game end once it is basically over. It's already heavily in favor of killers. All you have to do is keep a survivor on the wrong side of a loop during it and it's a free kill.

  • @newavitar said:

Open chests and break totems you walk by. Find and heal the injured teammate, or find the one being chased and swap in for them. Sabotage hooks around a generator in case a friend goes down. You can be productive while not doing generators, and giving the killer the chance to actually play the game. If you've done all that and the killer still hasn't killed anyone then that's their fault not yours, just like if you don't tunnel anyone and still 4 man 5 gen them that's their fault not yours.

Sabotaging not only requires a perk or item, but is also a complete waste of time as the hooks will respawn fairly quickly.

Opening a chest without Plunderer's and Ace in the Hole or knowing no one has it is a complete waste of the item inside.

Breaking a totem unnecessarily could screw a teammate that uses Inner Strength from a a potentially clutch heal.

Your suggestions are all the equivalent of telling the killer to go stand on a hill and spin in circles in how they're either wasting time or hindering your team.

If you want survivors to do something aside from gens/unhooking/healing then you need to make it a requirement for escaping.

Conversely, a killer leaving an unhooked survivor in order to down the unhooker is both better for pressure and still contributes to the killer's objective. Especially since things like Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike exist.

Actual gen rushing (ie. Stacked toolboxes and Prove Thyself) is the equivalent of putting on an Ebony Mori and the most powerful add-ons you can. Stop equating doing gens at all with tunneling. Hell, outside of a solid team of survivors, in most games the gens don't even get done in the first place, and the statistics show it.
