Looks like I'm bad, so as thousands of people I'm matched with. 1 escape of 10-20 games, though killer matches quite the opposite.
Feels like another killer player rant.
-
Simply put, MUCH better than it was before, but too far from normal functioning. I really think next step should be fixing MMR criteria.

I want them all, really hard to pick :)

I just simply fear on the fact that I'm facing against 4 people and I don't get to have a break </3 killers have to be on a constant chase and lookout while the other survivors who are not getting chased can just relax and do a gen until they get chased. It just intimidates me that I can chase one survivor for such a long time and might not even get a hit on them </3
So, you are talking about fear of losing? Thats the thing you should work yourself, because it's not very healthy, and relates not only to DbD. Although I find it very strange, because u mentioned maining a survivor, and that role lose constantly.
So I believe you should rephrase your question to "how to get over fear of losing" and adress that.
-
I can't tell why people DC at the start, maybe bad connection. But near the end it's almost guaranteed frustration.
I DC'd 3 times. Once my internet went down, second time game crushed (becase I tinkered with undervolting too much).
But last time I just snapped. After loosing for 15th time, seing constanly camping/gloating killers, and then killer killed two at 5 gens, something broke in me. I think it's frustration, because playing survivor is pain, and people don't like pain voluntarily. That's my only explanation.
-
Man, you playing unpunishable role, where you can hurt people, but people can't hurt you. How POSSBILY can you be scared? Scared of what, Entity?
The main "assymetry" or this game is that killer can win (kill) or break even (not kill, like at the start of the trial). Survivor on the other hand can lose (die) or break even (escape = save his life, like at the start of the trial).
Or you scared of yourself and bloodlust you gain by bringing pain and killing people? That one you should embrace, my good sir!
But if you are truly a survivor main, the pain, frustration and suffering you can endure is immeasurable. I don't know what possibly you could fear :)

doesnt really fix anything tbh
What he said. More of that, getting +25% on 5-10K bloodpoints not very comforting.

Pumping W and never 3 gen (which is almost impossible in SoloQ)

"1899 is overrated" is understatement. But pirate killer and old brig as a map would be cool. Pirate could be something like LeChuck (only grim and not fun looking)
-
I was very much before. Had so many plans, planned to open new project, buy a house, my travel itinerary was stuffed to the maximum. Until one sick f*** aka president of my country decided to cosplay one famous austrian artist. Now I don't know what will happen tomorrow, I tired live in constant anxiety and, frankly, can't guarantee if I will be alive in a month, or at least not in jail... Life year ago now look like unreal fairytale.

Only challenges or masochism. Otherwise there is completely no fun.

All outfits are great, as usual, and designers work is 10 out of 10. But, among hundreds of Meg's clothes, can we have at least one where she is without her Resting B Face?

DC'ers worse than campers and tunnelers.

Actually it doesnt punish tunneling, it makes the adept easier (smart tunneling anyway) because you get easier downs and someone dead faster to reduce the efficiency.
And that achievement isnt hard? It's just long winded because you have to be on RPD and open the gate. Pretty strong map for survivors if you know the layout and can loop/push gens. Even after the change theres a few god pallets and safe pallets to use not to mention it's hard for killers to get around without wasting time
Tunneling is very punishable by adept, because other three survivors DOING GENS! And you have no slowdown/second-chance perks to delay that process, so you have to apply pressure on all 4, like a pro. My adept matches 90% was very fun. I like when result, bad or good, is on me, not because someone else. You will say that map could be bad or team to strong, or other thing. But it's just how easy or hard it is, still interesting and fun. Unlike survivor adeps where you dependant on your "team".
And yes, "Outbreak breakout" is super hard. I'm literally grinding it since Wesker release and don't have much progress. Because:
- map offerings are scarce and already all burned
- rare occasion of RPD map in pool
- when it happens, someone probably DC or kill himself on hook
- if not, people don't do gens
- also killer must be not tunneler/camper (which is 50%)
- when miracle happen and all gens are done, it has to be YOU to open the door, not someone else
So, multiplying all probabilities you know how small number in the result?
It is very frustrating, like OP said, "what can I do"?
All my points in that achievement was when I'm the last and successfully do gate tech. Today had 3 RPD maps, no one ever survived, though couldnt say that killers were tournament masters. Definetely casual killers.
I would gladly do all killer adepts all over again for that RPD trash-achievement. 🙏
-
I love killer adepts. It get you to understand killer mechanic and his personal perks. Also adept punish campers and tunnelers, which is awesome. I did all adepts and all was fun, some hard, some not.
Wanna see atrocious achievement? Go do "Outbreak breakout" :)
-
If by "badass" you really mean badass, than it's only three, Wesker, Oni and Knight. And it's obviously Wesker, because he is literal badass, others more like "menace".
Others more like tools (like Nemi or Pyramid), or doing their job (Pinhead)
-
Killer of course. But, sadly, survivor take it's time too (because of challenges and achievements)
Unlike survivor, killer can play from start to end, everything that is happening is his skill or his fault. As a survivor, you are dependent on "outer" circumstances. You dependent on teammates, on cooperation, on not-tunneling/camping killer, and usual match is full of frustration and annoyance. You are either holding M1, or being camped, or tunneled and BM'd.
I'd play hundreds 0K as a killer, than suffer boring and undeserved miserable playtime as survivor.
-
You, my good sir or mam, are definetely not a developer :)
How they accidentally broke folliage, how they accidentally spawn 7 pallets near each other, that the only things I understand easily. It's something everyone does, like dropping production database on release day. Every programmer baptised by this.
What is obvious (and not good) is that it looks they were in a rush and past all deadlines. And that hotfixes are not here past few days. That both are questions to management.

@StereoGang said:
Lmao, why the hell did they let the depip mechanic on ? x)
Just getting a bit harder to pip would be enough, without being infuriating each time you loose some for unlucky reason / some playstyle. Sadly, my friends playing with me are less experienced that I am, and from the top of my 700 hours in the game, that's seems not enough
@Nick said:
I also don't get why you can lose pips, since its just a playtime thing now which has nothing to do with matchmaking. As a solo survivor there are so many things you have to rely on to get a pip, that's it's almost impossible
You both might be surprised, but back in a days, before MMR, you even could derank yourself if you depip while having zero pips on your grade :)
-
@Krazzik said:
It's the last big achievement I've got left to get. I've gotten to Iri 3 a couple times but pipping is just way too tough as survivor once you hit Iri. Heck even at Gold rank I slow right down.
OMG, I feel that pain literally 😑 I think that Iri1 run left psychological mark on me.
Some times are incredibly frustrating to unhealthy point. I remember when I was on Iri 2 with +4 peps, hands shaking, eyes bulging, last pip, and I'm getting in a row basement Bubba, tunneler and raqequitter-teammate! And I fall to +1. I damaged the wall as I punched it with frustration, had to fix and repaint it. The thing when you worked so hard towards your goal and you lost not because your fault, it's depressing, really depressing.
That's why I won't condone ever on tunneling, camping, dc-ing and other unhealty usage of holes in game mechanic.

Took you 156 game to get it from gold 1 EvilSerje ¿
Well, I aint ready for that. Played a bit today and manage to get 1 pip and two black pips... Worse in that is I didn't played that bad on both black pip attempt, I just got 1 point away from the pip each time.
I don't know if a keep trying or if I choose to save my sanity right now. I enjoy the game, but at this rate, I'm gonna be burnt before the grade reset.
I'm going to try to look for a SWF. At least, that sould prevent all suicide on hook, DC, selfcaring in a corner, etc etc.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3276982#Comment_3276982
I did it before Killer's massive update and with pre-reworked Legion. I did the count back then, it took me 88 games.
I didn't counted for survivor, but I know I'm already far beyond that number.
Yep, exactly 156. Of course I'm not a pro, but I don't think I'm complete trash either, I definetely know what to do and how to be efficient. But results are this.
I definetely wouldn't go for it in normal scenario, but I'm achievement junkie and it was last achievement, so...
After that I played survivor a lot (for example to get that stupid "Outbreak breakout" achievement, on which I stuck completely), but never so ferociously (like every day 4 hours) and never get past Gold 4 - that's the answer for regular "just play the game and eventually you'll get it". 😀 Nope, doesnt work, can confirm.
P.S.
If you have very experienced SWF squad, I think it is much much easier, though. But that I haven't tested.
-
Don't wanna repeat myself again, in short: it is the hardest and most frustrating experience I've ever had. I was grinding for half a year to get to IRI 1, it was exhausting battle, and absolutely unfun one. And it was before "killer-patch". Now I think it is nearly impossible for average players.

The devs have said the new map is bugged. And players in the game are allowed to use items and perks in the game.
Besides the devs have already nerfed tunneling with basekit bt. Tunneling existing is not unhealthy, because the game is an elimination game. If you want to remove tunneling you would have to completely change dbd where survivors don't die. Otherwise the killer is a human player capable of making their own decisions and forcing an early death is simply one of those decisions.
DbD is not "elimination" game, because goal is not to kill 1 survivor, but all 4. Mechanic exploit that works only on SoloQ and weak loopers, that is very unfun on top of all and completely doesn't work with strong teams, is unhealthy. If it was healthy devs wouldn't add something like BT, OTR and basekit BT. Unhealthy, same as camping. Same as bodyblocking.
And yes, unfun = unhealthy. If some player deny another player in playing game, it is unhealthy.

I didn't mention fun at all. And the devs have said that cheating is against the game rules and tunneling is not.
Ok, I understand. Exploits and holes in game mechanic are should be embraced. Interesting to finally see one person that renders healthy maps with 5 pallets next to each other, SWF teams with overpowered items, etc. Still don't understand why they removed lockers flashlight saves, was pretty healthy.

@Crowman said:

There's nothing unhealthy about tunneling. Dbd is an elimination game. The goal for the killer is to kill survivor. It does not matter how they do that.
Everything is unhealthy in computer game that fun for only one person. Why others have to spend their free time for something unfun? Continuing your thought: cheating is fun for cheater; bodyblocking, unhookspamming, etc. fun for troll.
Garden of Joy, Game and especially last map are healthy, because it's easy for survivors to escape and do goal.
SWF + 4 medkits + CoH is healty, because it's easy for survivors to bully killer and escape.
I could continue.
I don't understand, is it swollen ego or avoiding any thought process that allow one to think that anyone around are paid actors or AI npc, that are only purpose to please that player?
-
You asked to buff Trapper, so he wouldn't be the worst killer? Here you are, now he is not :)
-
The major thing that is wrong is poor tunneled out "st1grus". Event hook counter sparked out of this filthy transgression.
-
Finally played on it with Knight. The only solution - 3 gen, which I guarded from the start. Then you win, but it is a very boring and long game. It is what it is.
-
Besides all trash that we have in DbD, I still wanted to vote for DbD. But I couldnt because game is not available in store in my country. And my vote go to Hunt: Showdown.
But, looking back, it's fine. Playing survivor again, I remembered how miserable gameplay is. Camping, tunneling, camping, tunneling, again, again and again. We can have another dozen of very nice characters and chapters, but it's like embelish garbage can with flowers. No matter how many flowers, garbage is still a garbage. When trash will be cleaned (unfun and detrimental mechanics cleaned), then flowers would be appropriate and welcome. No amount of new super awesome killers will help frustration of constant camp/tunnel fest.
-
No, he is pretty strong*
*with hard camping and hard tunneling against SoloQ, which are my last 5 matches
-
Some suspicious nicknames, like insults, racist phrases, etc. I check profile and if there are "fun" comments or profile is "unappealing" I can drop lobby. Because 90% that person would be complete unfun for both me and other survivors.
As survivor the same rule plus if someone start BM-ing or arguing in chat.
-
Maybe it is offtopic, but both as Knight and survivors I've never played on new map, also I've never met Knight as survivor.
-
Personally it's like E tier to me, worse than trapper. I hope I still don't understand his mechanic, but he feels worse than trapper.
- AI is stupid as hell, I've almost never seen survivor in two days that cannot escape guardsman block.
- When I use summon, I 50% of time lose a survivor and cannot find him, it is only good for quick pallet/door break, but still questionable (because of losing survivor)
- The ONLY way I have won any games is just playing powerless M1 killers. The more I use power, the worse it is to me. And it is not even mechanically hard!
Zero mobility, zero pressure, very detrimental and slow power. People said Sadako is crap? I played almost only Sadako since march and I rarely had even 1K, let alone 0K. And I understand how weak she is against swat-seal-survivors. I was among people that was saying a lot to buff her, but I never intended buff be to give us completely impotent killer... I think evil genies are work in BHVR.
-
Agree with OP, I haven't felt such powerless and useless in a long time. But before that it came with mechanically hard killers (blight, oni), but now it's just it. I never had so many 0K in a row with anyone, including trapper.

While some might think it's an empty gesture others don't especially since its origin is based in simulating a sexual act performed on an unconscious and obviously not consenting victim. While many of the people who use it don't understand that many wouldn't care and I don't see a difference between it and when gamers would say they were going to r word someone as a metaphor for winning in a video game. It's unnecessary BM showing immaturity and poor sportsmanship at best and can be far worse.
My point was taking it seriously and emotionally, that I don't get it. Again, if person could do BM to me face to face IRL, I could take it seriously, but in internet, where some sorry kid feel complete impunity, not so much.
Great example that doesn't even go outside of DbD - hook slaps. Can survivor slap killer? No. It is onesided. I could only feel sorry for this kid, loosing his mind in a computer game.

Because the bot isn't insulting me; the human is. I do distinguish between a greeting crouch, thank you crouch, etc but a teabag is giving a digital middle finger.
I don't understand how anyone can take seriously when someone on the internet give a middle finger. It's absolutely empty, because there is no repercussion. It has some meaning if they give it to you face to face, but, in my experience, few dared :)
Anyway, when bots went to corner and started t-bagging, I exploded in laughter, I didn't laugh so much for a while, thank you, BHVR. Also has one toxic-Ada-bot that flash-clicked repeatedly when I picked another bot. If it is an easter egg, it is great. But I wish they fix their pathing, because half of the time bots stuck in windows of jungle jims.

Another "Club of Anonymous Killers" where poor downtrodden killers share tears who hard it is to kill people. What you call playing "nice" I call effecient. Because without that "nice" (aka no camping and tunneling) high caliber teams will wipe floor with killer. Works only on weak teams and unorganized solos.
Anyway, still cannot understand that "playing game to ruin someone day" mindset. "Hateful", "stop being nice", my god... The most hillarious thing is that such behaviour is just taking out anger on completely innocent next team that has nothing to do with previous one.
-
This is 1000s biased post.
You said it yourself, "I play mostly killers". So your "data selection" for survivor is less accurate than for killers.
More of that, you said you are "quite merciful". Now compare, how many "ggs" and "thank you"s you got comparing to trash talk?
I'm playing very merciful and always let survivors go when I win, unless doing achievement. And I can tell you, I have hundreds (literally hundreds) nice chats in the end (I did screenshots before, but after 100th stopped). And about 5-7 trash talks (I remember because it's so rare and, therefore, so vivid).
But from survivors side (which I have to play much more for last year because all the achievements are left for survivor and I really hate that role) trash talk from killers are extremely high. It gives impression that many killer-players not playing the game, but trying to raise self-esteem, broken in real life. How many "ez", "l2p" and "hope you die" say killers comparing to "gg"? All that not counting facecamping and hard-tunneling, which, of course, bring up "fair" reviews from survivors in endgame chat.
So my point is, check the ratio of nice-talks/trash-talks/silent-chats and it would be more obvious. And do the same from survivor side. You'll be surprised.

120s hook timer is too much. I'd remove unhook grabs from healthy, they are so stupid and extremely unfun when you get grabbed. I also personally don't find it very from as killer either, when you mistime it and don't get the grab it feels bad, the mechanic just feels bad either way. And when I actually do get grabs, which is usually on newer players, it just messes the entire game up since now I get one guy on stage 2 and another free hook.
The only argument against removing unhook grabs from healthy is that it would incentivize late, risky saves since a trade is guaranteed. But if the killer wanted to prevent a save they should have gone and injured someone or applied pressure somehow, not camped the hook. I firmly believe that forcing the killer to go out and injure to prevent rescues would be very good for the game, and removing hook grabs would do just that. Why stay if you know you're gonna get traded on?
That's just the first part though, lots of killers have powers that allow camping. I guess a bandaid solution could be that killer powers don't interrupt unhooks at all, meaning if you manage to start the unhook animation vs a Bubba, you'll always get your unhook even if you get downed for it. And he possibly downs the guy you unhooked immediately after. Oh well.
So in short, remove unhook grabs from healthy, make killer powers not interrupt unhook animation, even if you get downed and you're in the early part of the animation.
That won't help at all. I agree about removing hook grabs, because it is stupid stalemate of waiting whoever fail the move, multiplied by lag. But besides that, how this helps against Bubba or Huntress?
I still think that proximity to hook should slowdown timer. Another addition is to remove hookprogress from killer HUD, just show stages with ticks. Maybe make a hook timer FASTER when killer not within 40 meters, but slower the closer killer is and completely pause when killer in Kindred range.
-
I thought everything with flashy ultra-bright colors will go. Also if you just do a couple of squats in front of killr, some killer triggers by that. But good killers won't buy flashy outfit or squats, they do their evil job of applying pain to all 4 at once.

Kindred + WoO is a must, or even MUST. Can't understand what could be done without these perks.

Dun dun dun! As of today, I have finally collected them all! Phew, feels really good and kinda liberating. Now I can just play any way I want. In a couple of weeks we will get 4 or 5 new achievments, but I recon that they won't be as asinine as that Outbreak Breakout one. That was a real slog and every bit as frustrating and unfun as predicted.
How are you doing? Whats on your menu?
Wow, bro! Congrats!
I can't get it, it's too much. I pushed only to 5 since then.
-
Most unfun - campers/tunnelers/toxic low selfesteem ones
Not fun - farmers (from the start), giver-uppers.
Meh - bad killers/new killers
Fun - pro-killer that steamrolls survivors and apply immense pressure
Super fun - killers of "my caliber", which I can compete, but it is really hard
Specific killer doesn't matter, I went against great Bubba once (although 99% of them are scum trash) or camping nurse, so any killer could be fun or unfun, depends on player.
-
I'm sorry, only now???
-
It's kinda is, otherwise you have to grind it so hard that even asian gamers would be shocked.
Back in a days I didn't pay much attention to DbD, bought few DLC, another few was gifted. And I remember that I constanly hunted perks in Shrine. In the end I bought all DLCs and that's it.
Unlike many other games where constant investment of money will only bring you cosmetics and not affect gameplay, it is like other many games where you are really handicapped without it.
It would be fine, if you can't play certain characters, but their perks is a problem.
-
You can manually tweak sensitivity in "input.ini" file (I'm using much lower sensitivity too). But yeah, fixed slider with predefined range is suxx.
Also no ability to set multiple buttons on same action in UI and it's needed to edit ini file again.
