Bro, I just made a post nearby. You won't teach people with only incentives.
There is new "killer-easy-win" mode today, and abusing of camping and tunneling is off the charts.
I wonder if there will be button in setting "press F to kill all survivors", it would be used almost everytime.

@Peanits said:
This is our first modifier, so we're still experimenting to find what works best. There's a couple reasons why it's only available for a limited time, but a big one is to help get matches going in the modifier. If it were available permanently, there would eventually come a point where the novelty wears off for many people and they move on, leading to extremely long queue times for the few people who still want to play it. Like an event, we'd like for modifiers to be fun things that pop up from time to time that people are excited to take part in.
There will be more modifiers in the future, though, and it's not out of the question that popular modes could return in the future. Any feedback is welcome!
Whatever that is, or whether I miss the gameplay point of this mode, the "experiment" menu is super welcomed and great. The more, the merrier.
I don't think it should be limited to "new-super-elaborate-gameplay-mode", some things like "no-lullaby-onryo-mode-test" would be very appreciated too, you know :)
-
Btw, what was the idea behind it? Some counterplay, or tactic, or whatever?
Now it looks boring from either side.
From survivor side, you just die, because you cannot anticipate killer approach in any way, you don't see him or hear him, he just appear beside you. So, no chasing, no hiding. What then?
From killer side, you don't need to do anything, you just walk along conveniently higligted red spots aka gens and kille anyone near.
And with all of that, some still camp and tunnel.
So, what was the idea? I'm trying to find, but obviously missing the point.

@GentlemanFridge said:
I think the event favours killer somewhat, and very much favours specific killers that can benefit from not being seen from afar.
Bubba and Billy in particular have a really easy time, since they can get in lethal range before they're noticed.
Somewhat? :)
Every killer has undetectable, and you cannot see him until he's in front of you. So - no chases, just die.
Killer see hooks and generators! No downfall.
Killer doesn't see scratchmarks, but, frankly, even if I'm brain dead, it was never a crucial part of killer gameplay for me, you still find survivors near gens.
But the most atrocious part: camping and tunneling still here. They could remove it just for this mode, just to test (for example, you cannot hook same survivor twice or something like that). And 5 recent matches - it's just tunneling and camping. Anyone cannot even tell if killer is near hook, or went after tunnelee.
Event Dredge was seen and heard from afar (I was wondering why spoil him so cruel, now I know)
-
Ok, my bad, I apologize.
I said that camping and tunneling reduced. Nope. Killer players found out that "easy wins" are way too hard and gladly took "effortless wins" xD
-
Update killer side:
certain killers completely wipe survivors. They have infinite undetectable, when hillbilly pops out behind you, it's like gg instantly.
I took Hag for a stroll, and she obliterated team effortlessly.
So "Lights out" is basically SoloQ simulator for both sides.
One the bright side 💡
no one tunnel or camp as a killer, because no reason to) If that is a antitunneling mechanic, my respect :)
Again, I'm very up for new modes or test cases, that could appear in this separate section menu. PTB is very "niche".
-
It's closer to reality, but doubtfully fun gameplaywise. Everyone just wander around aimlessly, killers with oneshot or mobility are OP, chases came down to 2 seconds long.
UPDATE (surv side):
Everyone just stick to gens if they could find them (no anti-3-gen strategy possible), chases are nonexistent because killer appear behind you and kill (you're always injured because you don't know where teammates are).
If it is supposed to be scary, it's not (probably because of almost 2K hours of DbD)
BUT!
If BHVR will add more gameplay modes to test, like this one, I'm up for it with both hands! Bring them on! To hell with PTB.
-
Anyone with oneshot (Billy, Bubba, etc). Gamemode is ridiculous)
-
Just said it in anothe post: yesterday I set new antirecord since chapter release: 50 surv games with only 1 escape. Survivor games are getting more fun each update.
It's 100% because Sadako is too strong and need nerfs.
-
As for the perks, I found the best combo and cannot get away from this "presonal meta".
Kindred - must have. Know when killer is camping and don't bother if he does. Also see when someone going for save. I don't understand why no one use it, it's a must have.
Inner Strength - for very fast heals after you are unhooked. Healthy survivor is harder to find.
Distortion - know killer info perks and predict killer decisions, plus stay invisible.
4th perk vary, usually some VROOM stuff, like Lithe or SB, but I change it when some book-challenge is required.
All DH, DS, OTR don't do much, at least for me.
The perk I would really like to use is Windows, but I have no place to shove it in.
So, unlike killer, playing survivor is completely chore and frustration, with zero perk variety (if you don't want to finish the match in 2 minutes, ofc), I play only for completing the book and hate it a lot.
-
Frankly, they don't help much, especially with new gen-regression mechanic. You just don't have enough time now, every 2nd game or more often there is a tunneler, and every tunneler just use gen regression perks (pain res/surge) to tunnel even more efforlessly. Even if tunnelee is a good looper, it's not enough now.
For example, last match tuneled survivor was very decent looper, looped almost 2 minutes, and team was very gen-efficient, still, with all gen explosions and we got only to 2 gens left when first one was tunneled out.
Yesterday I set new antirecord: 50 surv games with only 1 escape. Survivor games are getting more fun each update.
But I know what the problem is. Sadako is too strong, gotta nerf her more.
-
@Krazzik said:
It should. Most people don't play DBD to go against bots and if survivors decide they just wanna leave, it's not fair for the killer to end up having to finish a boring game.
I would like the same option for survivors too. Because I rarely see a game where one survivor is not hard tunneled out, while all other players are practically invisible for killer. Waiting for hook to suicide or slug-bleedout is very tiresome.
Of course there is some ways, for example I almost finished new audiobook while killing time since this chapter, but the thing is - it's not why I play a game.
-
The only feedback I could come up with is that Dr. Nagao works in BHVR and want to throw Sadako in the well as quickly as possible.
-
At first I was quite surprised devs decided to deal with "3-gens", when it was absolutely acceptable tactic, and which I used a lot, especially when doing adepts (old ones). But I don't remember when I kicked gens more than 8 times...
Now, every damaged generator by any means, will be destroyed to 0 almost guaranteed, unless killer go to other side of the map. So in almost every match every killer-player just effortlessly tunnel and camp. That much tunneling I've seen only when Dead Hard and DS were nerfed the first time.
Very nice indeed. Very fun. Now it's even more genrush and more tunneling.
-
For some reason devs are stubborn to give her some chase power (moving through windows/pallets incorporeal, increased flicker duration/flicker interval time, etc) or stealth (remove lullaby), trying to play with condemn mechanic, although unsuccessful again.
She is either too opressive for newbies, or comletely useless. Strong players won't have problems either way.
To contend with strong players - she MUST have at least something for chase, or at least ambush.
To make her stronger, tapes should have some value and threat, required attention(pig's traps/wesker's deodorant/nox's emp). Now they don't, again.
Poor poor sadako....

What's wrong with Singularity, except disorienting camera traversal?

You should be able to turn it off. I'm a grown man I can decide whether or not I need to be protected from words.
Exactly my thoughts. In 18+ games we have some clunky childish "beeping" that constantly triggering on normal words.
If someone want to insult another:
a) he can do it by using synonims/obscuring anyway
b) if you see something like "you are a ####### trash!" you understand what that word is, so what's the point?
c) you can't stop someone from being racist, hatuful and other forms of miserable. It's the problem with that person, you cannot cure it by covering with blanket.
d) it works only in english, in other languages it's doesn't work, luckily. Of couse I saw some obviously "hot discussions" in other languages and didn't understand a word, but in my native language there was such "conversations" that BHVR puritan filter creator would lose last hairs. But I'm ok, because I'm a grown up man, playing a game for grown-ups with very disturbing and mature content, not "My Little Pony".
But we have situation where "kitchen knives are banned because someone stabbed someone". EGC cannot be used by more than "gg" and "ez", because when you try to write a full centence, for some reason it all become "#########################" when filter triggers on words like "Leon".
-
Neither. There are much better choices.
-
It was never acceptable. For a simple reaons:
- unfun
- cheap effortless win
- works only on weak\average survivors

In any other circumstances I would agree, but understand topic-starter and totally side with him.
You should never come to multiplayer games with toxic mentality in the first place. But spending 10 minutes in lobby, then 5 minutes in match and then another 5-10 minutes being camped, or tunneled, or slugged, then waiting when killer-player will done with t-bags/hookslaps/nodding, over and over again. It's like 75% of killers are played by salty kids that came primarily to abuse power-role to punish non-involved for the blues of real world.
Try playing survivor for once, you'll be surprised.
If BHVR doesn't want to deal with "detrimenal playstyles", let at least drop such match to not waste time and build even more frustration.

I did complain back in a days, about her lore. Her lore is complete laughable trash.
But she looks absolutely gorgeous and she's very strong. Still love crow-mommy.
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but ain't this one of the most entitled post?
"recently won around 80-90% of my games" + "However as of recent, I'm running into EXTREMELY sweaty matches every single game" = Isn't it like MMR should work?
It work like that in EVERY game with MMR system, no?
Or you just want always win with zero effort, right? ;-)
If you play sweaty, that's on you. If you lose so much even with sweat, you don't belong on that level. You'll lose a row of matches, MMR will drop to your level.
"despite the fact the game (and devs) naturally favors survivors" - that's complete BS, btw, telling that from personal experience, because I have to play survivor too (book challenges), and it's the most unfair and miserable experience, and the problem is that I couldn't drop in MMR any lower. Try survivor, you'll understand.
-
Snowballs are fun first or maybe second game. After that it's just annoying. Doesn't add anything gameplay-wise.
Nobody uses snoman for stealth anymore (like it was in previous events).
Snowman decoys hit by survivors very much, showing killer where someone is for free.
All in all, without any gameplay impact, all snowy things wear off pretty fast.
I would suggest add something changing, at least like it was on Halloween with alternate dimension and ghosts. But would be better add a completely new gamemode you want to taste. And if someone doesn't want to play it, just add it exactly as new gamemode (e.g. separate menu button or a switch on killer/survivor screen)

I’m on the road to low mmr. The games are MUCH more fun down there, and solo skill expression carries a whole lot more weight. Much more enjoyable experience. (Speaking on the survivor side)
Fun? Seriosly, there is fun down there? Like fun fun? Monsieur, you have quite puculiar taste. Please, share, how many whips, leather bondages, plugs and spiked collars do you have at your home?
I'm on low MMR constantly. There is only pain. Now I'm currios how more worse it could be on higher MMR.... 😬
-
I would never ever played suvivor if not these stupid "surv-only" challenges. Playing survivor is like a very painful humiliation chore, and it's the only time I'm thinking a lot about dropping DbD.
I've started to hate all new events, chapters and game development, because with each step there will be a book, and in this book will be odious suvivor-challenges, and you will have to do them to get rifts/skins/etc. And I'm forcing myself to do at least one challenge in a day, like a bitter pill. "Why do I do that?" - I'm asking myself. Ain't game should be fun? It's pure masochism.
Then I play killer and bad thoughts mitigate a little. And I always let at least one survivor go after I win. Because I know how atrocious is survivor's experience 😖

Personally, I play a couple hours every day, on average. So not an extraordinary amount. If there's a Bloodhunt, I might play 3-4 hours a day. During really lucrative events (like the Anniversary and Lunar New Year), I really lean into it and then take a break.
Since it was introduced, I only (well, 95% of the time) play the role with the BP bonus at any given time, and I use all my BPS, cakes and other BP boosters only when I get maximum return. I keep an eye out for codes, etc., and redeem them when available. I usually und up in the iridescent grades for both roles every month.
Beyond that, I don't feel like I do anything unusual.
But really, the BHVR should give more BP. Like a lot more. If you compare their value to shards and auric cells, even "large" bonuses are comparatively tiny. I broke it down in another thread discussing what a joke the 400K Prime reward is when compared to a full outfit. The conversion rate there is bad.

Playing with Bloodpoint Offering especially during events, some players are old players like me who already had every character maxed before they reworked the bloodweb. Playing with friends or with BP-Bonuses for certain roles help too.
There are perks that increase your BP gain - some being more obvious like Distressing, some are more hidden like Stake Out (Every great Gen Skill Check gives you 300 BP. Stake Out helping with great skill checks increases your BP gain passively for sure).
Don't forget Grades every 13th (2mil BP) and codes (especially for prime). There are a lot of ways to increase your Bloodpoint Gain if you already have certain things helping you. It's a lil' harder for newer players since they are short on some ressources.
I play even more, and always with BP offerings (basically never take any other ones). I even collect every BP codes.
But I don't pick BP perks. Is it that mandatory and everyone is always use them? Because from what I see, I need to play 9 hours a day to get so high prestiges (not that I need it, but just curious).
I understand why streamers has their P100 characters, but everyone else?
So, everyone is farming, right?
-
Where do you get so many BPs? You ever break from playing DbD?
I play for 4 years, did every book, every event and every achievement, and my highest prestige characters are Sadako, Spirit and Artist (all red background and around P10), other fav killers (Plague and Hag) are 6-7. And from survivor side only Jill P15, all other survivors are around P3.
Where do you get SO MUCH MONEY? 😶
-
Well, I can tell after 1700h, before I had 1 in 30 escapes, recently it improved to 1 to 5-10. Have I started to play better? Nope. I think it's just lots of good players started to drop down on bottom. I see people over P50, everyone in general knows what they are doing. I think that's main issue - good players on low MMR.

What if the crows could "mark" survs that disturb them, maybe showing their whereabouts for a couple of seconds? Maybe even their direction?
And then Spies doubles down on that info, or gets reworked into something else?
Why? Going in that direction is not easy enough? Maybe make crows even injure survivors or lock them in place for 1 minute.
-
Killer doesn't need anything to compensate, Kindred is only for Solos, SWF don't use it. Besides, killer already have basekit info: crows.
-
Love such triggering posts, shows how salty, sweaty and miserable some players are. "Easy wins", "Survivor rulebook" and other bs 😁
And I like how you put yourself in such very strict challenge (with hook order).
I think you should split your topic in three parts: rulebook, challenges and strategy.
As for myself, my rulebook is simple: if I win (all alive survivors are downed), I let everyone go. And could even throw in some achievements (like pallet stun, or last survivor finish gens and escape through door), because I play both roles and know how painful and hard playing as survivor.
As for challenges: I almost always play without perks or addons (unless doing some book challenge). Make understand killers powers more.
As for strategy very simple too: gens over survivors. I understand why camping and tunneling are detrimental, therefore could compete with solid teams.
And, surprise, surprise, I almost never had any toxicity as a killer. Like maybe 5 times. In a few thousands. But love-messages - PLENTY. I think "<3" symbol in nearly every single EGC as a killer.
Players that tunnel / camp / sweat and hate other side, always complain about toxicity, gen-rush and survivor-sidedness. Why is that, I wonder? xD
-
Before update, the only things she was needed were Iri tape basekit, Newspaper basekit, remove lullaby and Drawing basekit + triggering on healing progress, not health state. That's it. I don't know why they tried the whole overhaul, that, I'm afraid, they'll nerf back. Don't harass Sadako!
-
Killer that fun to play as are basically that you are comforing in control or using power + you like them aesthetically.
For example, killers I hate to play: Oni, Blight, Billy (great design but cannot control at all), Legion, Merchant (easy to control, but trash design and lore)
I like very much Sadako, Plague, Huntress, Pig, and now Chucky. Also Artist and Spirit, but they all require a lot of warmup to get used to their powers, you cannot just "ignite and go".
To play against: every killer is fine when no camping and tunneling. So it's basically players, not killers.
Therefore killers I hate to go against are Bubba, Nemesis, Pyramidhead and Trickster. But if their players are not miserable, they are all fine.
Plus I struggle with stealth killers (like Ghostface), but its not that I don't like to go against them, it's just I never win.
-
Very "convinient" and relaxing to play killer: no hard mechanic, built in slowdown and stealth.
Attack power is trash (used basically to scare survivors out of loops).
If devs tweak her just one bit: make her roar at the start of actual rush (like Chucky), not at the beginning of charging, she would be perfect killer.
But we all know, Pig can get only nerfs, that's life.
-
Ehh... We don't...? At least I definetely don't. Another ######### thing about playing survivor is that you have single same loadout, if you intend at least try to win.
Kindred is a "must have".

Why would the perk descriptions need to be changed? As far as I'm aware, every single perk and addon that shows aura's only says the word "Aura" or "Aura's." No mention of color.
Blast Mine, Lucky Star, Surveillance, Trail of torment, etc. There are lots of "colored" perks. Maybe addons too.
-
Singularity. It's not about killer, it's about killer players. For some reason, 90% of Nemesises are filthy salty campers and tunnelers. If you see Nemesis, prepare for a super unfun match, no matter the outcome.
Objectively, both are fine.
-
I don't think it's a super great idea, because you need somehow correspond it with perks description.
But what I want is more distinguishable overlapping auras. Like red survivor in front of red gen (BBQ). Or yellow teammate behind yellow gen or pallet (WoO + Kindred / Bond).
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Yeah, it is stupid. It has always been the case that Killer Challenges are "Play the game" and Survivor Challenges are "Do anything except for the Objective". But this Challenge is just stupid.
I dont mind challenges being...challenging. But if we look at the current Tome Level, there is a big difference between getting to Saves (or blinds while Hooking) in one game and hitting 8 different Survivors. The former one can take some time AND requires the Survivor to throw the game while the latter is just playing two games.
I would honestly not mind if it was one time per game or if it would have to be completed in multiple games.
Exactly this. 50% of survivor's challenges are "throw a game". I gave up few tomes back and skip such challenges.
-
- Cool design
- Cool concept and gameplay
- Cool voice-lines and voice-acting
- Proper killer for DbD lore-wise (unlike 4 stupid kids with knives or strong™ intellegent™ independant™ woman™ with drones, for example )
Ain't that enought already?
-
They did a super great job, Tiffany and Chucky are outstanding. I haven't enjoyed new release so much since Sadako release. Although Chuck is definetely not my killer, cannot control him, like Blight, Billy and Oni, still he is super fun to play, aesthetically.
-
I was always bewildered about people with such accute hearing. Survivors breathing? I heard only smoker Meg's panting after she sprints for 10 seconds and only while playing her. If I play killer and in chase, it's pretty much eyes only, I don't hear anything besides chase music (except pallet drops and loud notifications).
At the same time I'm pretty much ok with sound in other games, even ones with very sound-depending core mechanic. But in DbD?
People say they can hear survivor in the locker! How? I especiall tested it, when I saw survivor hide in closet, just came close and tried to listen. It's complete silence. How?
-
@radiantHero23 said:
I think they should be hidden. This prevents a lot of prejudice and bias in lobbies.
I watched a streamer yesterday, that, I kid you not, checked every survivors steam profile (if possible) just to find out who has the lowest hours. Why did they do that? To tunnel that person out as fast as possible when the match starts.
This kind of mindset is very unhealthy I feel like.
Prestige does the same but a little more tame.
Ooooogh! That's some "scum of the earth". Exactly what I was talking about in another post.
-
I wish I have any survivors with P100, because if someone dodge, seeing P100 marker, then:
- that player is insecure (in video game!!!)
- that player afraid of challenge or losing (which is even more red flag)
- this player obvously is sweaty, looking for easy matches and/or to prey on Solos, with high probability will camp or tunnel.
So, good riddance.
Besides that, I stomped huge amount of P100 with zero problem, and was steamrolled by a lot of P0 - P3 (because anyone could switch to another not prestige survivor because of daily or just for fun, not a rocket science)
-
I'd rank them like this (again, it's from my PERSONAL experience):
Easy:
- Merchant
- Gunslinger (if KB/M)
- Trickster (if KB/M)
Skill investment requred:
- Twins
- Singularity
- Alien
- Dredge
Very hard to master:
- Spirit
- Oni
Of course something could shift. For example, if I use Spirit with detection addon, she is going closer to "Easy". If someone play Gunslinger with controller, then he probably go to "Hard" section.
---------------------------
Update!!!
I saw the notion about "not be humiliated". That's important. If you are humiliated in computer game, that probably best scenario would be go play Animal Crossing and forget about DbD. You will be humiliated anyway when, every killer eventually go to respectful MMR.
If you are talking about strong killer in general, then Sprit, Oni and Twins would be your pick, but they require dedication and mastering. For example, after 1600 hours I still cannot control Oni and he is one of the killers which sits on low MMR position.
-
Totally agree, but there is some means against facecamping to be fair, very weak though, also many survivors dont bring "Kindred" and don't pay attention that killer is nearby, therefor no autounhooking happens. And some "professional
mor...facecampers" just use proxycamping now.Tunneling still "Press W to win" though, and there are lots of tunnelers.
But yeah, I wish there was some "quit" method when tunneling/camping happen, not waiting for hooking to suicide.
-
Distortion is great and I take it every single game. It's the only counter to "Nowhere to hide" and "Darkness", when you can waste a lot of killer time while he is searching the area around gens, also a supper helpful vs. "Lethal" so you don't end on the hook in the first minute. Overall very great perk that prolong your inmatch time.
Some wrong statements:
- survivors only hide. These survivors would hide and ignore gens with or without this perk.
- bad at chase. Yes, they are. And I am. On your god-like MMR where everyone is tournament player probably it's common, but on my MMR almost everyone bad at chase. After 1600 hours I still don't know how to chase more than 15 seconds, unless killer is very sloppy. On the other hand, if you have hiding crouching survivors, maybe you are on the very low MMR with new players.
If you don't use infoperks, then this perk is a waste of slot, btw.
