He’s fine the way he is.

He can be strong during chases and denying loops, just like Clown can. But he’s slow and has almost no map pressure. Gens still pop ridiculously fast when playing as him. Plus, shouldn’t killers be STRONG? I’ll never understand that argument. Do people just want really easy killers to go against so they can abuse every loop, pallet and then tea bag in the exit gate? It seems a lot of people don’t like that he can end toxic gameplay. Leave Mr. YeeHaw alone. We finally have a killer that’s exciting to play as and against.

Actually I really do think survivors want easy killers they can loop and bully.

  • Killer is stressful and survivor is boring.

  • Try playing as him then come back to your thread.

A missed shot is very punishing. Without add ons it takes him more than 2 seconds to reload and you feel it. If you hit someone, reel them and hit them. By the time you reload they are already gone. The chase music even turns off. Smart people leave the gen they are working on when they hear his TR because it's smaller than most and many deathslingers are running m&a.

He is slow! Without his gun your basically hag without her traps or nurse without blinks. He is very susceptible to gen rush. PGTW or other gen slowing perks are a must pick for him.

His power barely slows people down. It takes you a few seconds to mend and some people just don't heal up when facing him like they are up against legion. He can deep wound one person and go after another but unless there's 2 people next to each other he is giving up a chase in the hopes of finding someone else.

Stop treating him like a normal M1 killer. Treat him more like Doc. Drop the pallets a little sooner. If you wait for him to get in melee range he's in shooting range. He doesn't need to get close enough to hit you he just needs to be able to aim before you turn a corner. Don't loop him at waist high loops. He can shoot you and pull you around.

Avoid windows. This is his sweet spot. He can reel you in and hit you over top of it so long as your close enough. He is the only killer where I hope people go to windows. The same goes for the fences on Michael's map.

It's still too early to decide how good he is. I've been using him for the past 4 days and I'm convinced he is weak. I've been getting mostly 3-4k as him but that's because I'm at rank 12 and most of the survivors I've been getting are potatoes. When I face a competent group that knows how to loop him I feel there's nothing I can do. Give it another week or 2. Knee jerk patches are how we got old Freddy.

I have about 1,5 k hours in this game and I'm not even close to having all perks for all my survivors/killers. I have some neat builds I want to try, but I can't due to the grind fest going on in the bloodweb. Leveling up a new character is unbearable and feels like a waste of time at this point. With each killer/survivor comes an exponential growth to the grind. I'm aware of the additional perk to the bloodweb from lvl 40, but it's not really cutting it.

wow. I have only 800 and I got all the perks for both sides except the newest survivor. Are you using BBQ or WGLF? Sitting on any BPS, escape cakes, survivor puddings?

Most of my play time is probably killer so that might explain some of it. I got like 4 killers to P3 with one of them maxed out. 2 survivors at p3 with only 1 maxed.

  • @ZoneDymo said:

I feel teh devs on purpose make perks borderline pointless so they dont have to worry about balance, nobody will use them anyway, gg ez.

That's what I believe. I really think the people who design new perks have no idea about existing ones. Let's all look back to MoM. Anyone who plays this game for more than 100 hours could have told them that was going to be mixed with DS, Adren and BT. It used to be I purchase a killer for their perks. Now I don't even do that anymore. I only got Deathslinger because I had shards saved up. I wasn't going to pay real money for that killer.

And yeah, OP. Furtive Chase. What is the point of a small terror radius DURING a chase? If it lowered your TR outside of a chase I think it would be pretty fun to mix that with monitor and abuse.

  • @Uistreel said:

I reckon it is probably an equalish amount of people on both sides being hypocrites, but because 70% of the posts on these forums come from killer mains/biased, they're usually the only ones you see complaining

Keep in mind theres 4 survivors for every 1 killer. If indeed most complaint threads are from killer it means one of 2 things.

A: most killers are cry babies

    Or

B: the game is very survivor sided and killers have reason to complain

  • I had a game as deathslinger. I had 3 stacks of DH. I reeled in a guy and instead of going down he only suffered deep wounds. I know for a fact DH works if you reel in someone for a melee. I've been doing it all day. Yet somehow this person only suffered BT. Then they ran out. It didn't make any sense. He wasn't unhooked recently. He was even full health.

  • I've been playing deathslinger all day and I'm convinced he is weak as far as gen pressure goes. I deranked back to 18 when I started playing again. I'm back to like 12. I've been in plenty of matches with potato survivors but I've also had plenty of reds/purples. When I was lvling him up I got m&a early which is sweet on him. At like lvl 15 I got pgtw and my game completely changed at that point. There have been severla matches where all the gens would have been completed if I did not bring that perk. If he had better movement speed or gen pressure, he could be pretty dangerous but I think it's still too early. Also I havent used him at red ranks yet so I can't comment.

This is a shot I don't think should have connected. At the slow mo it looks like I was aiming at her medkit.

  • Yeah.....I haven't a clue. At first I thought she was on the other side of the pallet and you didn't see her. After watching the vid again she clearly wasn't there.

    in How Comment by EvilJoshy
  • I haven't had any difficulty hitting survivors while they are healing. If I miss it's probably because of my aim. The hit box could be whackey. There's also the time it takes for the harpoon to travel though he was clearly standing still in that video. I don't think this is a bug but I will keep an eye out the next time I play deathslinger.

  • @Mandy said:

You're using the Pussy Willow Catkins add-on on your Hag - this shows you the aura's of survivors when they trigger your trap, so I'm naturally wondering whether they triggered your trap and you saw the aura at that point? Without a video it's pretty hard to tell.

Maybe. I hadnt used hag in a long time. I used her because I had a ritual so whatever add ons I was running were on her the last time I used her. I just wanted another set of eyes to look at this and tell me if I was missing something. Unless it's clearly obvious, when I see something fishy in a game I assume there's an explanation.

    ty

  • I like haddiesfield on trapper. If the roof can only be accessed by a window, if I trap the roof side there is no way they can disarm that trap unless they step in it.

  • Survivors have a perk called decisive strike and it is singlehandedly the source of all our troubles as killers. If you hook someone, they get saved, they have 60 seconds where if you down and pick them up again they can break free. The problem is it lasts 60 seconds and often you can run into that person by sheer chance and forget they were just pulled off a hook.

Slugging is downing someone but leaving them to bleed out for awhile. If you down someone and you see another survivor nearby it might be better to down that person too instead of immediately going for the hook. Or most cases you slug someone and count to 60 in your head so you know DS won't save them.

An example of when to slug. One game I had 2 people hooked close together and I downed a 3rd. I got 2 people hooked and 1 bleeding on the floor. Instead of picking up the 3rd I looked around for the 4th. If I down them before they save anyone that's GG for me.

Play however you want. Do not listen to survivors on how to play killer. They are bias, toxic and don't give 2 shits about your fun.

  • Or maybe it's because they've been on the air for so long they've predicted every possible scenario that could happen lol

Where I work they just got a few confirmed cases of Corona in the county so they shut down the site at my job. Instead of going to work I'm told to "work from home" The problem is there's nothing I can do from home. My job is pretty much impossible unless I'm "at" work.

  • Survivor rule #79. If you hook someone your a camper if your still on the map :P

  • Actually it's The Simpson's fault. They predicted Trump would get elected president years ago. They also predicted in 2020 there would be a respiratory virus that wipes out half the population.

  • I haven't played against him but I've used him a bit. I find his biggest weakness is tall jungle gyms. If it's half height I can try to shoot over top of them but tall ones, I'm gotta loop. He is slow and it takes him a long time to catch up to people without shooting but don't push your luck. If he is getting around the corner before you do, drop that pallet. Pallets work just as well only you need to drop them early like your facing the doctor. I'm often catching people during a pallet loop. They try to loop me one too many times, like I'm an M1 killer. Only to be shot before they can drop the pallet. If they drop it one cycle sooner I can't hit them.

Don't trust windows. I find those to be where he shines. Even if you vault he can shoot you, reel you in and hit you over the vault.

Missed shots really punish him without reload add ons. Most of the time if I get a shot off and land a hit. Once I'm done reloading the chase music is gone. If your looping a jungle gym and he tries to shoot you as he comes around a corner, any miss shots punish him.

Run spinechill. A lot of people are catching on to using m&a on him because of his slow movement speed. His TR is pretty small even without monitor.

On haddiesfield you are not safe on the roof. If he can see you from the street he can pull you off the roof.

Serpentine! That hook does has a travel time and the further away and more erratic you move, the harder it is to hit you. But there will always be that CoD, CS:GO, Overwatch player that only uses snipers and doesn't miss. Can't be helped

This may sound stupid but if your standing next to another survivor and he fires his gun, try to be the first one hit. In that instance it's like Legion using his frenzy. He deep wounds the first person then he goes after someone else to spread around the dmg. That may not always apply if he doesn't think ahead.

  • @BabyBubbaMain said:

Here’s a 100% legitimate fix to DS to not make it an immunity perk.

    1. Each time the killer hooks a different survivor, timer is reduced by 15 seconds
    2. If a survivor does any action during the decisive timer (healing, cleansing, repairing, mending etc) the timer regresses double the rate.
    3. Getting into a locker will immediately deactivate Decisive strike.

    Boom. Fixed.

One more thing I would fix personally is:

    • If the survivor were to pick themselves up off the ground with the perk unbreakable during the decisive timer, the timer gets reduced by 30 seconds.

I think we should just make it so

1: If the killer hooks another survivor, DS shuts off

2: If the person saved is healed they lose their DS

  • I think I'm rank 14 right now. I played like 6 games of deathslinger yesterday. I had one game of rank 14-18 and 1 r1. Another match of green and purples. One of all yellows. One match of like 2 reds a purple and a green. Then more yellows. For the most part the majority of survivors I was being paired with were between like 10 and 15 with the occasional high rank. Which sounds like it's what MM should be doing. This is the first time I played since the dc penalties were introduced. I am noticing people flat out walking in front of me, letting themselves get hit so they can suicide hook.

"I'm not that good a shot. I don't know why you gave up?"

  • Since the dlc launched I think my MM has actually improved.

I stopped playing when the nurse got reworked. I came back for a little bit in Feb. I deranked all the way back to 18 on my killer because of my break. Every match was against purples/reds. I stopped playing again because of that. No matter my rank there was a good chance I would be paired against reds. I don't like using the meta every game. Sometimes I want to mess around and have fun. I can;t have fun if I'm getting bullied cause the game is imbalanced.

Now that the dlc dropped and there's more people playing killer, there's less people playing survivor. My que times are about the same but now I'm no getting reds nearly as much. It's better than it was. Just more evidence to suggest MM is fine, the issue is hardly anyone wants to play killer.

  • I had a match as deathslinger the other day. I only have like 2 perks for him cause I unlocked him yesterday. Gens were flying. 3 gens were completed and I had maybe 2 hooks. It was my first time on the new map too so I don't know the terrain.

I downed Ash and hooked him by a gen they were working on. As I was carrying him to the hook I saw Steve crouch by a wagon. After I hook Ash I down Steve with a melee then a quick shot+reel. I hook Steve right next to Ash. A 4th gen pops. I got 2 people on hooks and the other 2 are still injured. So I stick around. I slug the 3rd. Ash dies on hook. I carry the 3rd to the basement and the 4th saves Steve. I walk back upstairs and I run into Steve as I walk out of the shack. He doesn't have DS, surprisingly. So I finish him off and look for the hatch. I find it, close it then I catch the last survivor trying to open a door.

Then in the chat they start spamming "We want to have fun too!"

"Well what about my fun? Gens were flying and no matter the amount of pressure I apply someone else will always work on a gen as I'm chasing someone. I was losing that match till I slugged. Had I left I may not have got a single kill. I slugged because it was in my best interest, not because I wanted to ruin your game."

I don't know why I try to reason with survivors in the end game chat. I keep trying to make them understand and they keep giving me a salty bias response. I told them to complain on the forums and I'm certain the devs will nerf deathslinger.

  • I've no clue the ratio. I've read studies that claim it's damn near 50/50 but when you look at the data you notice they include mobile games like candy crush. To me those don't make you a gamer. From my experience I mostly find guys playing video games and the occasional girl. Maybe it's just the games I play.

Does anyone else have as much fun as I do breaking walls for a little bit of extra points on the new map?

Where is the breakable wall? I only played on the new map once and I didn't see it. Course they were gen rushing and I had no gen perks. I had to slug to win that game.

  • I only used him like 4 times. Mostly rank 15s, a few green/purples and the occasional red. I don't think he is strong. Often if I reel/hit someone, if I reload I lose the chase music. Probably bring pwyf? People try to loop him at waist high loops and expect to not get hit by him. Id say give it another week or 2 before we decide.

  • I was wondering if this would be a good perk for him. I just started using him a half hour ago and noticed I tend to lose the chase music if I reload after a reel+hit. It probably would be very good for him.

I proposed a perk cooldown loadout system awhile back but one of the devs wasn't convinced. I can see why. You just want to go in with what you want. But then again, the perk stacking is a real issue.

Agreed. Some perks are tolerable but mixed with others, it becomes broken. In my opinion, if you couldnt mix it with ds, bt, adren. Old MoM might have been fine. "Might".

  • Basically what everyone else said. Your not meant to know who the killer will be before the match starts because you will bring the perks that counter them.

If it was a doc everyone would bring calm spirit. If it was a trapper people might bring small game. Mikey/Wraith/Pig/GF people would all bring spinechill.

Any game that has a winner and a loser is a competitive game.

I'm going to quote commander Warf in Star Trek: Next Generation

"If winning is not important, why keep score"

As for removing keys and moris. I have so many moris I forget to use them. Id be fine with losing them if survivors lost keys. However. If I somehow get 5 stacks of Devour Hope don't touch my mori. I worked for that one damn it!

  • It was Haddiesfield. I was huntress and it was about 2 years ago. So I wasn't as good a killer as I am now. This group was doing gens and hiding when they heard me coming. I had a hard time finding anybody. I was patrolling and heard someone working on the gen in Mikey's house. I hear them go out the window. I go out the window and I don't see them. No tracks, nothing. I go on patrol. I come back, same thing. I hear them go out the window and I don't see them. I look around for any other window on the 2nd floor. I leave and by the 3rd time I come back I finally found out what happened. I heard them hop out the window. I go out the window. I turn around and I see Claudette crouched in the bushes right underneath the window. I'm like "Are you #@$%ing kidding me?" /smack

That survivor ended up befriending me lol

  • Survivor: BT+WGLF. Im a bp ######### :P

Killer: I don't really have one but if I had to guess. Spirit fury+Enduring has got to be up there on the list.

  • I stopped playing since the nurse rework. I came back before deathslinger came out. Im rank 18 now and im still getting red ranks. It feels like i never deranked.

Ill check back in another 6 months and see if things improve.

I'm pretty sure my previous comment can vouch for why we continue playing. It's because we can sense a lot of potential in the game and we would hate to see it go to waste

I felt the same way about Evolve, only that game died :(

  • Personal opinion, id rather not have Jason in here if they are going to make him weak. Which we all know the devs are afraid to make a strong killer. Jason would need his trusty machete and an arsenal of tools to be lore friendly. Say what you will about the reboot. I liked the idea that he had tunnels dug all around the lake and trip wires rigged to different bells so he knew which direction people were. It was also the only time I think I saw Jason run. In that movie he wasn't just some big guy with a machete. He could hunt, live off the land, scavenge, operate machinery, he even know how to use a breaker box to light up the camp. So he had to pick up knowledge of electricity and wiring.

If he was in here I thought him busting through walls would have been cool but were already getting that. Maybe if he could turn into a mist form for like 1-2 seconds and walk through obstacles like the nurses blink. Cut back on long ass loops, time it just right and you'll walk right through a pallet being dropped on you. In door maps would make him scary as hell if you could mask your TR. A power like that he could come from anywhere. You'd be working on a gen watching the only door into the room and suddenly he magically walks through the wall.

His mori would have to be the sleeping bag :P

    Honestly please no.

The Xenomorph is meant to be an unstoppable, terrifying, killing machine.

The last thing we need is that legacy ruined by survivors t-bagging it at the exit gates.

Imagine how boring the alien movies would have been if instead of sending Ripley, marines, or whatever(predators) to defeat the xenomorphs. All you needed was a board of wood.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/136781/this-game-is-no-longer-fun

I switched my killer mindset to get as many bloodpoints as possible and if I kill any survivor's well be, but i'm getting tired of feeling the constant stress of not even getting my all my BBQ stacks. I'm done convincing the devs that the least they can do for killer's is fix the damn bugs, but they won't listen to killers.

When I'm playing survivor after completing half a gen, I'm bored. Chase's aren't fun to me anymore because killer's are either easily looped or too counterable

The game isn't fun for me anymore, but the reason why I still play is simply because the game has so much potential to better than what it is now, but the devs are too ignorant because they only wanna cater and listen to 1 side of their community.

This just gave me an idea. Devs only listen to survivors right? What if we all band together, pretend to be survivors and bomb the forums with "Killer is weak. We want the game to be scary" :P

  • Trapper. His backstory resonated with me. How many of us had a bad day at work and just wanted to vent :P

Also I main trapper and when I face a good one I know it. If "I" step in a trap I have to say "Well played" Cause I should have known that was a good spot for a trap. You don't see anyone complaining trapper is OP.

Maybe not that instant. I don't think making him a supernatural killer would do him any justice.

His set up is fine. SWF counters everything in this game anyway. The problem is that he has to wander around trying to put down traps and pick others up.

If it can't be super natural how about an alternate trap. Like one he designed himself. He literally drops it where he is standing and it arms itself after a fair amount of time?

  • Play something else. Check back in 6 months. That's what I've been doing.

  • Most issues have been said about trapper. My issues is he is countered hard by headsets. When one person see's him plant a trap they all know where it is. I wonder if it would not be better if his traps were deployed like freddys snares. Move your hand, push a button and the traps is deployed. Slowly arms itself after a time.

  • I get accused of wall hacking every time i play nurse.

I get told I'm hacking the game when I'm using whispers to find people.

    I kind of disagree

Gearhead - The nerf was stupid, but the perk itself is still pretty solid, it may be a good replacement for discordance or surveillance. Nurse and Oni will get.a ton of value out of it.

Dead mans switch - This perk is basically a better, reversed version of Thrilling Tremors for high pressure killers, its basically 45 seconds of the survivors being unable to do anything, in that time you can easily down someone, go back and kick that gen.

Retribution - Alone its not really useful, but if you combine it with thrilling tremors it can be hell to go against.

As for Deathslinger, He may not be the best killer out there, but he is definitely one of the most fun and with some practice I bet anyone can stomp any survivor team with him.

Ill mess around with the perks some more but I do believe the killer is a weaker huntress. Sure he can be fun but if he can be bullied by competent survivors I'm no longer having fun. We have too many killers that struggle against survivors who make no mistakes. We need more well rounded killers. Not someone who looks like he was designed to attract the FPS crowd.

  • @lazytension said:

It's only active for 60 seconds. If the 60 seconds is up, they have to wait until their next unhook (if they are lucky enough to get unhooked). Again, killers have several perks that they can use to FULLY benefit them, a big one being NOED to give them a 4k that they MIGHT'VE not even deserved.. There are ways to counter it, dude. You have to take your chances and play your cards right. It's not a game-breaking perk.

The problem is when someone with DS gets in your face. Say I hook survivor A. I leave. I find and hook survivor B. Survivor A saves survivor B. I assume B has BT and DS so I go after A. A still has DS!!!

That's the problem were having. I did not tunnel and yet the person with DS came to me because they know they are safe. My only option is to slug and if they are running unbreakable/no mither then all my work is for nothing. You have more than enough ways to survive killer yet the devs keep giving you more because you are the majority A very very vocal majority at that.. This is why the game is dying and no one is playing killer. The devs keep giving you buffs to help out the lower skilled survivors. This makes the experienced survivors too powerful. Killer realizes how broken this game is and they play something else. Your waiting 20 mins for a match because there are no killers.

    I rest my case.

1 … 84 85 86 87 88 … 98
