I am sorry to disappoint you, but my mind does not circle around you (whoever you are). Just stating what was one of the biggest complaints during the past weeks/months.

Actually I don't think multiple survivors on the same gen was the biggest complaint at any point in the past few months. Ive seen tons of threads about ds, noed, tunneling, camping, gen times but never about survivors stacking 1 gen.

  • As far as data amount. I recently reinstalled ark and the updates for that game are so large I had to buy an external SSD -.-

And yet the most complaining came when the first Gens got done fast, because Survivors spawned together. So the Devs are basically reacting to the complains on the forum.

I never complained about survivors working on the same gen. I complained about 3 gens popping at the same time while I down 1. Survivors working on the same gen is a blessing in the beginning. The only thing this patch will do is make 3 gen stronger. If multiple survivors all get on the same gen it won't repair as fast.

  • @ChainsawCharlie said:

Very true. There's two reasons for this. Way too many people play SWF because they want to play with their friends, and a lot of killers have recently taken a break from playing killer because of recent changes. I think that's why the devs are fixing some god loops and making other changes because they realize without killers, they have no game. Plus matchmaking in general is terrible. I'ma Rank 1 survivor and somehow got a Rank 17 teammate last night.

I dont think the devs realize without killers they have no game.

No he’s right it’s something I’ve been mad about for a long time now. I think if you’re already through the vault you shouldn’t be allowed to get hit. The killers already super fast it’s not a big deal to walk around when the walls are like a foot long on either side of the vault like 100% of the time you see one. unless it’s an actual building of course. 😂 but I think killers just have too much of an advantage it’s not really fairly balanced for survivors throughout the entire map. There are usually a few good loops that’s it 🙄 killers just cut you off so easily when everything’s out in the open with knee high debris to hide behind.

Im a killer main and even I think the vaulting hit is out of whack. As survivor there have been numerous times when I vaulted, took 2 steps and I still got hit. As killer there have been plenty of times where I even think that shouldnt have connected. But killer is really in the ######### right now so they should focus on other things before tackling this.

  • If BHVR could program killer bots they most certainly would be in the game.

Thanks! I usually do but I just worry when they say they been recording and gonna show it off. I don't know what they are putting together or how I looked on their end (due to their connection to the server).

I really appreciate the reply and support. Thanks!

I've been accused of wall hacking when I was using BBQ. Unless your actually cheating I don't think you get banned.

  • I didn't see you doing anything wrong. You lead him on a good chase and screwed up a few of his mind games. He missed 3 times in a row with EW3. That killer wasn't very good. He/she was just salty they lost. Ignore end game chat. That's all I can say.

  • How come every thread I see labeled "Let's talk about" it usually involves a killer nerf?

  • I don't think new ruin is better than old ruin. Maybe better for mobile killers but they didn't need it as bad as every other killer. I'm actually surprised there isn't a new survivor tactic involving "don't cleanse ruin" just so the killer can't use PGTW.

    This is actually highly incorrect

Right lets give you your scenario but show the chain of what actually happened.

Ruin gets nurfed (even though i still see it as a buff)

Whiney killers decide to go to survivor side because they cant learn to play by using a different perk or learning how to use new ruin effectively, however the toxic bad survivors stay and eventually some newbies

Toxic killers start appearing more often tunnelling and face camping more frequently than ever causing survivors to get highly annoyed which makes some of them join killer to stop having to worry about getting taken out of the match so fast whilst others get even better at looping

Survivor turned killer will now use perks which wont include ruin and will learn how to play the game without having to use an originally useless overhyped perk

Killer turned survivor will start playing like a normal survivor

And once again the dbd world will be brought back to being 50/50 and i dont even need to show any proof of this just log onto dbd for yourself and this is highly noticeable as by the looks of it we are only just coming out of the toxic killers tunnelling and camping frequently phase

Hex ruin was never the problem it was peoples mind set on the matter than changed it into what it is now today because some people couldnt adapt and change causing them to indirectly change anyway

Matchmaking is broken and not by one meaningless, useless perk. it is just broken.

(Sorry for the long post but killers holding on to the grasp of saying this perk was good in anyway shape or form really annoy me, the perk was designed to be somewhat an assistance perk not a "ill do everything for you perk" the new ruin sets this up perfectly as now you actually have to be doing something for it to be effective making it the perk it was supposed to be in the first place)

I agree with some of your post but Im the opposite. I do believe the ruin nerf was a bad idea but then again ruin wasnt that good to begin with. The real issue is map size and many killers lack map pressure or powers that help end chases. Ruin was a band aid slapped onto this problem without addressing the core issue. It wasnt much but it was something. By nerfing it without addressing the real problem, things got worse.

There's also the group mentality in every game. If people say something is UP/OP then people will believe it. Either way, Im not having fun playing killer anymore and Im taking Kotes advice. "Play something else" :P

  • If they ever get a Leprechaun in here it had better be Warwick Davis's version :P

All you say its alright, but if you see someone unhooking someone and u go for the unhooked one, you a really an #########. That's is tunneling and, not go for the injured one, is go for the injured one previously unhooked and not give any time for do nothing. Understand what i mean?

The devs have stated tunneling is not a crime. The killer is not obligated to leave anyone alone. If you unhook right in the killer's face expect things to go bad. If your running BT and DS then in those cases it is better to go after the rescuer. Which is why I don't usually tunnel off the hook for anticipation of those 2 perks. If those 2 perks are in effect then it is a better use of my time to go after the unhooker. Not because it's unsportsmanlike, certainly not because it's a rule in the survivor's rule book for killers, but because it's best for MY objective. Not yours. If I am playing killer and your playing survivor, I will kill your team in the best way I can. Your fun be damned. You certainly don't care about mine.

Solution to tunneling. Don't unhook in the killer's face. If the killer doesn't leave, do gens and get out. The killer only benefits if the team turns 1k into more because of over altruism.

why don't you watch killer gameplay on youtube or twitch? otz, monto and tru3 are some examples of good killer gameplay. watch them and git gud

This right here is the problem.

Killer has complaints, they tell you to watch some of best killers in the world and tell you to git gud. As if every killer should be held to that standard.

A survivor has a problem and the devs make the game easier for them. The only reason ruin was nerfed is because survivor's didn't want to learn how to hit great skill checks. This should be the textbook definition of favoritism.

No...its really not OP. You're only saying that because you've never tried to run it. Myers has to stalk every survivor to the max in order to be able to use his power. And, by that time, most, if not all, gens would be repaired and the survivors would be camping the doors or the hatch like they do to be toxic. Burger King Myers is one of the hardest builds to run, and it the opposite of OP.

I'm more afraid of Huntress iridescent heads and military belt than Myer's add ons.

  • @Hopesfall said:

This game has gotten really stale for killers at red ranks post ruin nerf.. roll your eyes all you want, it's truth. If I want to try interesting builds that deviate from the 6-7 "meta" perks for killers, gens fly and it's generally a miserable experience. You will of course have some wins, but more often than not, Brutal Killer/Displeased is your result.

Survivors can run meme or thematic builds all day long because they have 3 other people to carry them. If i want to run an all hex build, stealth, or perma injure build.. it might work a quarter of the time. Injured people at high ranks just split up and sit on gens so it doesn't really matter.. plus they get dead hard constantly.

I realize X killer may have Y build that works for them, that only proves that you're being pigeonholed. "If you want to use this killer, here are the perks that actually work".

I am essentially locked into using the same build for every killer unless I want 3 chases and the game to be over in 5 mins. Boring.

    BBQ / Corrupt / Pop / Discordance /// Nurses / Monitor

"THEN JUST SLUG" - no thanks that's not fun

"DONT WORRY ABOUT RANK" -- maybe I don't like seeing "Entity Displeased" every game when I try experimenting

"PLAY ANOTHER GAME THEN" - i have been thanks

Sure would be nice to be able to run interesting builds without being absolutely punished by the game.

I love how the survivor community believes the ruin nerf changed nothing. It most certainly did. Killer can afford zero mistakes, you need certain perks and it just isn't fun anymore. You can;t tell me the game is fine the way it is with 20 mins survivor que times or rank 16 killers being matched against red survivors. Nothing is wrong with MM. When Deathslinger came out que times improved because there was an influx of people playing the new killer. When the hype died down it went back to what it is now. The fact is no one wants to play killer cause it sucks and they will stay this way unless something substantial is done to the game.

  • Actually it does. Unless they pour points into that one killer, they won't have a stock pile of those add ons for long. I main trapper and I rarely have any bloody coils. That Michael was running 2 ultra rares which makes it even less likely to have a supply. Most killers don't use only one killer. It's often boring to play the same killer every single game.

  • Most of his add ons only help him stalk people when he IS NOT leaning. Which often gets you revealed. Only the ultra rare speeds up stalking while leaning. I rarely crouch as GF unless I'm coming to a gen and there's nothing blocking LoS. I do feel Pig should get a boost to her crouch speed since GF makes her feel so slow.

  • Also they are both ultra rare add ons. You won't run into that often.

No skill in the World can prevent the killer from tunneling you right off the hook. That has nothing to do with having to get better at the game.

Actually there is and it's been here all along. Don;t rescue right in the killer's face. At least not without BT. Wait for the killer to actually leave. If they don't leave, do gens and get out. Camping a hook is actually a detriment to the killer if survivors know what they're doing.

I'm a killer main and most of the time I don't tunnel off the hook. Not because I think tunneling is wrong, cause it isn't. I go after the rescuer because I assume the person pulled off the hook has Ds and BT. In that case it's actually better for me to go after the one who did the saving. Spreads the dmg out. If I see 1 healthy and 1 injured survivor, it's 90% of the time best for me to go after the injured one. If I suspect DS and BT, it's better for me to go after someone else. Provided there is someone else. If I tunnel off the hook it's because I couldn't find anyone else or you were being a douche and deserved it.

Sounds like killers are shooting themselves in the foot. If enough survivors start asking for a longer DS stun time (10-12 seconds perhaps)....let's see them eat through that.

What's sad is if enough people bitched and moaned for that. I bet BHVR would do it. Worst part is they would think it was a QoL change like the pallet stun/flash light timing patch.

I think it’d be better if the gates just started regression when nobody was interacting with them

I agree and it would have to be real regression. Not like 99%, 2 mins later it's still at 80%. I'm talking 99%, leave it alone for 5 seconds and it's back to 0%.

  • I don't play with DS. If I need it to survive then I shouldn't have escaped. I don't use it because I try to get better at looping/routing.

So you're legit saying what I am already saying, if they are in a 4 stack and playing together then it's difficult, but what do you think would help fix it?

How would I fix it? I would make killers powerful enough to stand an even chance against a swf. Let the solos git gud like everyone else. BHVR, stop handing out participation trophies and let the new comers learn.

    @Todgeweiht said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1184083#Comment_1184083

It depends on what you define as a "meta killer", I can play almost any killer at high ranks without any problem and end chases in 40ish seconds, it depends on the map I am playing in and the survivors I got against, of course, but you are just making a massive generalization saying "meta killers".

And again with the stupid argument of trying to make the objective as simple as some fractions, do you people ever take into account other factors like healing, unhooking, cleansing totems, and searching chests? Or the perks the killer may bring, making the gens go by slower? The only killers that really was time with their power are the ones that need to set up.

Jesus, you people just repeat whatever the forum tells you like NPCs

The problem with alternative objectives is the survivors can choose to ignore those. I've seen people waste zero time looking for totems unless they see DH. I've mostly seen competent survivors searching for chests when the gates are open. I've seen survivors repair gens injured just to get adren to pop. If the survivors decide to rush the gens, the gens get rushed. Except for pgtw not much else really slows down the gens. Ruin is garbage now, intervention only works in the beginning, surge is meh, thrilling tremors blocks gens "not" being worked on(sounds like it should have been the other way around) OC only works on newbs, lullaby is useless until you get 5 stacks and by then gens are either done or its cleansed.

The survivors hold all the power provided they know how to use it. Which is not what this game should be.

  • @VCDiamondFinder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1183305#Comment_1183305

And how many times do you see 4 survivors hit all skill checks, evade the killer, and take no hits? Cause I've never seen that, unless you face a 4 stack SWF it's almost impossible to have 4 escape without the killer playing like a bot or missing every hit

Unless your a meta kiler the survivors can loop you for 3 gens easy. 3/5s of their objective is completed before the killer gets 1/12. If they got headsets you can chase someone else, 1 perosn is on a gen, 1 makes the save+heal then they both duo a gen. Match ends in 4 mins. If the survivors know what they are doing and are coordinated the killer is at a severe disadvantage.

And may I ask, have you ever played Ghostface? Because I've played as him and against him and I can tell you that in my opinion his revealing is a problem. Once he's revealed he's basically an M1 killer that just hits you, without his stealth ability he's weak.

I rarely play against gf but i have no trouble revealing him. He is my 2nd favorite killer at the moment and, unless the survivors are potatoes, they dont have trouble revealing me.

My advice. Treat him like Mikey. Run away from him. Block los and get a teammate to reveal him. If you challenge him to a staring contest he usually wins. So dont challenge him and let soneone else do it.

Rank 1 survivor and killer here.

Last time I was camped was last week in EGC, and I've never been tunneled, not to be confused with the killer going for you because you're injured and not near a pallet.

    This.

If the killer goes after you that's not tunneling. Every time you think the killer is being unfair ask yourself this. Look at the situation and say "Wouldn't I do the same thing if I was in their shoes?"

You see 2 survivors. One is healthy and near a jungle gym. The other is out in the open injured. ######### wouldn't you go after the injured one? It's the most efficient use of the killer's time.

And OP, your screen shot of red rank. That means nothing. It's so easy to rank up as survivor in this game it has no value. Your screenshot is just a participation trophy.

  • @VCDiamondFinder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1182079#Comment_1182079

How so? I cant think of a killer, that if played correctly, that needs a buff

I think the problem is it's not the killer's skill, it's the survivor's skill that determines the outcome. The game is designed to depend on one side making a mistake. If both the killer and survivor's play well, the survivors will win because there is 4 of them. No killer can pressure all 4 at the same time.

  • The answer to the OP's question, No.

Every single killer in the game. There is someone on these forums who thinks they are OP.

The Ruin change is nothing to do with ted ranks having more people. It is the fact people are being matched with rank 15 killers so they get easy matches etc Ruin is nothing to do with that.

Yes it did. Now that ruin is gone even rank 18s can blow through gens without a problem. The ranking system hardly reflects skill so much as playtime for that month. They made survivor's objective easier therefore more people are ranking up. More people in red ranks means there's longer que times because there's a higher demand. The way MM works is it looks for a killer close to your rank and if it can't find one it looks in other ranks. Wait long enough and it will throw the very first killer available in your direction just so you have a game. The MM pairs reds with a r15 killer not because it's broken. It's because the game can't find a killer closer to their rank. The reason they can't find a red killer is simple. After ruin nerf, killer's job got harder. No one wants to play killer and new players are being paired with red survivors. So were not getting any new killers on top of the veteran killers playing survivor or playing something else.

  • @SurviveByDaylight said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1182650#Comment_1182650

killers are not as underpowered as you think, you just need to have better map control. Get good as they say :)

I admit git gud is the answer to most problems but not this one. Maps need to be smaller, gens get repaired way too fast, not all killers have map pressure or powers that help end chases quicker and the survivors have too many 2nd chances. The devs basically made this game balanced only if the survivors are potatoes. If they know what they are doing, it's broken.

As for needing ruin, before the nerf I swapped it out for corrupt intervention cause I main trapper but nerfing ruin was a mistake. Gen speeds are a problem for most killers. Instead of addressing this issue the devs released a perk that barely helped. Then they forgot why it was in place and removed it without addressing the issue yet again. Now were experiencing the affects. No one wants to play killer because gens can be completed in 4 mins. Were seeing a rise in tunneling, camping, mori's because killers are being abused more than usual. When we bring our complaints to the devs we are ignored because we are the minority. This game needs to swing back into the killers favor if you want it to keep living. I can't imagine how new players feel when they try out killer and get paired with red ranks all running DS+Adren+BT. Heaven forbid if they gave those perks the ruin treatment. You say I complain about Ruin nerf as if I need it yet I bet you run every survivor meta perk in the game and DC whenever your the first one to be downed. No new players want to play killer and the few that are end up playing something else because it's not fun anymore. But what do I know. I'm just a killer main who hasn't really played in months because of the imbalances. So plug your ears and pretend killer is fine. Enjoy your que times while I enjoy RE3.

  • @OtakuFreak said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1182229#Comment_1182229

For low-tier killers it absolutely did. Anyone who has any competence in the game would notice how faster games went by without ruin.

Not to mention, ruin kept newbie survivors where they belonged. In yellow ranks. It was not coincidence that red ranks swelled with survivors who cant loop or hit a great skill check shortly after the nerf.

When deathslinger came out que times improved. Just further supports theres nothing wrong with MM, no one wants to play killer cause its more frustrating than fun. Now that the hype died down, survivors are back to 20 min que times. If your que times are that bad it should be a ######### slap of truth one side is under powered.

  • @BlueFirebilly said:

Yes, the gens aren’t the problem, map size is

I think it's a bit of both. Map size certainly is an issue but gen speeds can vary depending on the killer being used. Certain killers obviously have powers that help them down people faster while many have to rely on M1. For people like Billy, Spirit, Huntress, Nurse and to a lesser degree Oni. These killers have powers that help them win the chase sooner. Meanwhile you have a lot of killers that could benefit from increase gen times because of how long it takes them to down a survivor.

Making the gens take longer would be great for certain killers but broken for the good ones. That's why I think gen speed should be adjusted to which killer is being used. Personaly id rather have the Entity(an AI) oversee the progress of a match. If one side is doing too well adjust it accordingly so the match isn't a blow out.

  • If you want it to be scary, put more power into the killers. Unless the killer sneaks up on me I'm not afraid cause I know I can loop them provided I run in the right direction.

  • @rita_book said:

BBQ and Chili is completely out of hand and overpowered. I am going endless waves of matches against killers ALL of whom take it. THEN, survivors getting lucky if we even get ONE generator down.

The reading aura portion of the perk is absurd and should be removed. The aura reading after a hook creates a snow ball effect for the next hook, eventually leading to a win for the killer.

It is also completely unaballanced. One perk should not instantly lead to 4 kills and zero generators.

Would you like us to put a skill check that is damn near impossible to miss like DS?

Should the devs give survivors a built in distortion?

I know. Let's make the gens repair even faster!

  • From my experience, any killer whose power is determined by the survivors is a bad design.

    Trapper's traps

    GFs stealth

    Plagues corrupt purge

    Oni's rage

Hags traps but not nearly as bad as trapper. Her traps can be replanted very fast and she doesn't have to go across the map to get them.

Don't forget t-bagging two feet from the safety of the exit. That's a critical skill.

This is why blood warden is one of my favorite perks. The few times you get it to work are epic. Best part is when you hook someone near the end to activate it and NO ONE can get out unless they have a key.

Yeah i think that would be the best choice for episodic games. Wait for the whole thing to release. Since i recall there being a few episodic games, that never got finished. Sure there will be like a episode or two but they never finish the rest of the episodes. Leaving you with half a game or less. That and by waiting, hey might be able to find it on sale as well. Since that how i pick up a few games i was interested in. Totally forgot about them after sometimes but than remember oh right, this was something i wanted after seeing it on sale for a good price.

That and FF has been going downhill lately. I did not like 15. All the dlc, the anime, the cg movie. I shouldn't have to invest that much time into side stuff to understand the game itself. Plus the combat was boring. Hold this button to dodge, stock up on cheapest item in the game for extra lives. I played FF7 when it first came out on the playstation 1. They better not screw this up.

  • @Ghostwithaface said:

Yeah sometimes it best to take a break and go do something else. Of course no idea what the op likes. Yet if they are into games that are tough but fair. Dark souls remastered can be easily found on their platform of choice, be pc or console. Which has so many guides out there these days, you can easily find all the help you need for a build or how to beat a tough boss. That or if they want to kill loads and loads of orc. Shadow of war does have the Nemesis system, which can make fighting these orcs rather fun by giving them a bit of character.

That's more or less what i've been doing since the nurse rework. Played other games till deathslinger, got him to 40 and went back to other games. Just beat Doom Eternal and waiting for RE3. Id love to play FF7 remake but I don't have a playstation. I hope by the time the pc version comes out the whole game is released by then. I hate episodic.

  • As far as which killer I decide to use. It all depends on the mood I'm in and what happened to me the previous match.

I like using trapper and ghost face. I like out smarting people with well placed traps and the jump scares from gf are funny. However there are matches where I get crushed by a competent team and I felt so powerless. Being looped for 3 gens doesn't feel fair and certainly isn't fun for me. Trapper needs time to setup. Otherwise he is a basic M1 killer. SWF counters trapper harder than most. One person see's me plant a trap and they all know where it is. GF can be kicked out of stealth provided the survivors have a brain and run while looking behind them. Instead of standing out in the open staring at him leaning around a corner then wonder why they didn't reveal him. Once those happen enough times I get upset and switch to my Nurse because I feel more in control. However I don't like using Nurse because one single screw up costs me a lot as her. I feel so slow since her so called "rework". It's not a guaranteed win but I feel I have more say in the out come. If I place my blinks I feel I can actually win a match by playing well. As my "fun" killers I feel I only excel if the survivors make a mistake. As Nurse I don't need to hope they screw up. I can just win by playing better than them. As trapper, no matter how well I play, if they are disarming my traps and know where to run, I can play well and still lose horrible because of the time required for me to catch up to them.

If you think about it this game puts a lot of importance on how fast you can make that first down. Start of the match

4 people on gens. You chase someone, 3 people on gens. That's the key point right there. You down someone. 1 person on a hook, 2 on gens, 1 making a save. You chase someone else that's 1 on hook, 1 going for a save, 1 being chased and 1 on a gen. The sooner you can make that first hook and chase someone else you went from 4 gens being worked on to 1.

When playing as killer in this game I have to make a choice. Do I want to have fun or do I want to have frustration? Either I play a fun killer but run the chance I get demolished or play a killer that can dominate but I don't have much fun using that killer. For me it's a boiling point. I play for fun until my rage hits it's limit. Then I switch to a meta killer and slaughter the next unfortunate group I come across. Then go back to using a fun killer.

    TL:DR

As a fun killer I feel my success is determined by the survivor's skill. As a meta killer, my success is determined by "my" skill.

If the game didn't roll us back from point B back to point A so often, I could maybe learn how to loop the killer for much longer. Every time it rolls back and I get hit, It is so frustrating, I just suicide and leave my team.

Your just new. This game will turn on its head when you learn how to play. The problem is the devs hear your complaints and keep nerfing killers. Thus making the experienced survivors even stronger. Please don't take offense to this but please keep your complaints off the forums. Killer has it bad enough. If you want advice that's perfectly cool but your new and you should not have a say in how OP or UP something is.

  • The only new thing they did with traps is allow the trapper to rearm them without having to pick it up. Maybe it's a bug that slipped in when they implemented that mechanic?

  • When i first lvled deathslinger i was rank 18. Hadnt played since the nurse rework. When i wasnt facing potatoe survivors i was struggling with gen pressure. Then at 15 the bloodweb blessed me with pgtw. It made a big difference. Matches i should have lost were saved because of it. Perks are needed on many killers.

Here we go again. Just a killer that obviuosly cant play the game properly and has a huge lack of game sense. its gettin boring guys.

    I sense a survivor main.

  • I wouldnt call noed 2nd chance. Its more of a punisher perk for rushing gens. A 2nd chance perk would be something that adds another gen that has to be completed.

No, survivors want killers with counterplay. Deathslingers counterplay is Genrush. This is not a great exerpience for both sides, isnt it?

Actually the way these devs balance the game, there never is a great experience for both sides. Gen rushing counters all killers by the way. The deathslinger has plenty of counter play unless the killer is a pro FPS player. I'm clearly not one of them. I've had people bait my aim and missed plenty of shots.
