  • I play both sides. However, I hate playing Killer. It is not fun for me. I play it to do dailies now, basically.

And yet, despite being 80/20 Survivor favored most of my arguments are pro-Killer.

Being able to bring a powerful Hex for free would not be healthy.

Hex perks are high risk high reward. An extra, "free" perk slot like this exclusively for a Hex perk removes much of the risk involved in bringing a Hex perk as, part of the risk is in the fact that if it gets cleansed you're out of a perk for the rest of the match which is a pretty big deal with only 4 base slots.

This balancing around SWF idea isn't healthy as it would completely crush poor solo queue players who, contrary to popular belief, matter.

If a 5the perk slot was added on either side it would need to be on both and even then I can't see that ever happening as it could cause too many issues.

Ah yes. The old "high risk, high reward" myth. Told around the campfire like Bigfoot.

No hex matters if it gets blown up in 30 seconds.

And very few hex perks are "powerful" enough to deserve it. Maybe NOED, Devour, and Ruin, and NOED only applies to endgame and Devour does nothing until activated with tokens.

Because the issue with censorship is that it is used to create and maintain dictatorships but that has nothing to do with private organisations, they are not obligated to let you say or do what you want. For example, if you visit me in my house and you do/say something I don't like I can throw you out for that and that doesn't mean you are being censored because you are still able to say/do this things in your own home, I'm just enforcing my house rules. It's the same when a company enforces certain rules. You are still free to avoid the company and you free to create your own company with your own rules.

I fundamentally disagree with the idea that "the privacy of your own home", which is a single dwelling, is conflatable with a multi-million user publicly traded entity.

Some of you people have every Killer and Survivor at level 50. Some of you have them at level 50 AND Prestige 3.

We are now seeing an expos of low skill survivors that were being carried by a crutch perk.

Dead by daylight is a game of either stealth evading the killer or looping the killer effectively. If you are good at those 2 things and play the game as it was meant to be played, then you don't need to use Ds in the manner it was used.

Most of the survivors complaining now arent very skilful and would get off on the fact that the killer couldn't keep track of how long ago they downed them and they got a free getaway and wasted The Killers time leading to a win they didn't really deserve.

Exactly. I am bad at looping. So I use stealth. If I get seen my objective is to try to lose a Killer in a tile and use my Fixated perk to exit away without scratch marks.

  • BHVR should make it so that tapping a generator procs a Skill Check to stop regression.

Why are people struggling to get what I'm saying here lol I swear people are just reading the part where I say "DS buff" and immediately disagree with everything just because it's DS.

DS and BT are the only proper anti-tunnelling perks in the game. If you don't want to rely on your teammates then DS is your only option.

What if it's a killer chasing a rank 10 survivor who doesn't last a minute in chase? Is it fair that they got a perk to help with tunnelling only to see that it can be easily avoided by the killer who just camps their slugged body.

If I choose to play Spirit later and tunnel one survivor to death every game, you better believe DS won't stop them from dying. If they aren't great at looping then believe they will be dead before 3 gens have been completed.

" Is it fair that they got a perk to help with tunnelling only to see that it can be easily avoided by the killer who just camps their slugged body?"

Yes. For the reason I mentioned.

"Why? Based on what criteria and reasoning?"

Based on the fact that you're playing with actual human beings and shouldn't be going out of your way to make them deliberately miserable? How is that a difficult concept for you to understand? Other than the perk, do you have any empathy at all?

You can literally remove/disable/hinder everything you listed - you even mentioned a perk that does some of it yourself. I'm just saying an anti-tunnel perk should maybe actually stop you from being tunnelled, which I don't belive the current DS does. I think it needs a longer stun duration and maybe two activations.

"BHVR makes the rules of the game. No player should be at the mercy of the other side to dictate how they can play."

Really? You don't think BHVR has made any changes based on player feedback? Do you remember the changes to Freddy on launch? Are you new? They clearly do and have made changes based on player complaints. DS is one of them. I just feel it was slightly over nerfed.

As I've said multiple times now, we clearly don't see eye to eye. Not only do our views on gameplay vary, but also our views on how we treat people. Neither of us are gaining anything from interacting so please just stop replying to me.

And again, tunnelling is not directly making someone miserable. It is a Killer getting two hook states which is literally one of the things they are scored on for their Emblems. This is in no way comparable to things designed purely to create misery, like racial slurs in endgame chat or holding the game hostage.

It has nothing to do with empathy. It is not only allowable, it is an encouraged part of gameplay by virtue of how the game is designed. I don't like it when gens fly, by your logic I could argue that Survivors doing gens have no empathy because doing so makes me miserable.

BHVR can change the rules, if they want. They control the game code. But players are going to play with how it is written now. If you want to write a sternly worded letter to Almo, be my guest.

The only thing I would change about Decisive Strike is remove the timer entirely. If a Survivor wants to remove themselves from the game for over 60 seconds, that's a choice they can make themselves. But trying to make this about "sportsmanship" is a faulty form of logic. Sportsmanship is for baseball, not a game where Killers are literally paid in-game currency to do the thing you are upset about.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2062372#Comment_2062372

Well first and foremost, your assertion that you can only be downed if you played badly is false and insulting. You can play well and still be downed. Spirit for example, though mostly mindgames, is largely a 50:50 guess on both parts. Also, its very poor to not at least try and take aggro/a hook stage if your teammates are all on death hook and you haven't been hooked yet. To think getting downed once means you're trash is false and a highly flawed thought process.

Secondly, can we stop with the "all survivors" and "all killers" speak? You and I both know that's not a thing. I do think both sides have responsibility towards the enjoyment of the otherside. I know a lot disagree with this and think only their gameplay matters, but in an ideal world where people are actually considerate towards other human beings it would be ideal. We can all play the game in a way to make it as miserable experience for the otherside. I don't think that should be encouraged.

"I do think both sides have responsibility towards the enjoyment of the otherside."

Why? Based on what criteria and reasoning?

By that logic I should be allowed to ban anything I want that reduces my fun of the match. Flashlights? Gone. Pallets? Gone. Window vaults? Bamboozled after every vault. Exit Gates? Regress now as soon as the Survivor's hand leaves the handle.

BHVR makes the rules of the game. No player should be at the mercy of the other side to dictate how they can play.

  • Get this idea out of your head that you are being tunneled if you happen to be the Survivor the Killer hooks twice in a row.

What compromise is there to "I played badly and got hooked and now I blame the Killer for it"?

The faulty premise of that statement is that it is somehow the Killer's responsibility to make the game fun for Survivors. This is doubly true when you see that Survivors actively go out of their way to antagonize the Killer. This is a pathetic double standard that needs to end.

killers kill. and survivors... survive? I'm not going to ask for survivors to be immune to being injured. or that survivors shouldn't be able to be downed. it's dumb to say that something isn't detrimental to the game because you clearly don't play both sides. if you did you wouldn't be so cavalier about other people's experiences.

I take it youre the type of person that complains about survivor "crutch perks" but when survivors complain about something they view as unbalanced you retort with a groundbreakingly brilliant "git gud". A gamestyle you clearly can't learn yourself...

I do play both sides and my Survivor rank is red and way better than my Killer rank. If anything that should suggest I'm Survivor biased and clearly I am not.

What I do is own up to MY screw-ups. If I immediately run left at match start, piss off two crows and get spotted by Leatherface (an actual scenario for me yesterday) and get downed in the next 15 seconds... that is on me. I do not run to these forums crying about how Leatherface is OP and needs to be nerfed and crows are unhealthy for the game and Scratch Marks shouldn't appear in the first five minutes of the game and pull the woe is me game that Survivor Mains pull on these forums.

I don't think any perks are crutch perks. Dead Hard is fine and so is NOED.

Everything you just said is wrong.

so should we just... have survivors spawn on hooks? in struggle phase ofc as a chance to kobe would be game breaking. why? because killers are meant to kill. duh.

no? because that wouldn't be fun or engaging gameplay? right...

It means that Killers kill. It's in the title. Crying that killers go after survivors is asinine.

Most of the complaints Survivors have are along the lines of "What am I supposed to do after I am already screwed!?" and fail to take responsibility for letting themselves get screwed in the first place.

If you are on the hook, you already failed in some capacity. With every successive Survivor failure, that sympathy for said failure diminishes. If you don't want to get tunneled off the hook, get better at not being hooked. If that sounds overly simplistic, it's because IT IS.

    TL;DR - git gud

They are trying to have an easy win by making sure they stop the other side from playing the game. If they're bringing a perk to stop tunnelling it should at the very least prevent them being tunnelled.

    Yes... that's what... Killer means.

  • @SleepyWillo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2061556#Comment_2061556

I don't think that's a fitting punishment. If a killer is going out of their way to ruin the game for someone and remove that person from the game, and that person is bringing a perk to specifically aid them in that given situation that literally does nothing else and will deactivate if that survivor does ANYTHING other than be tunnelled, that perk better do something hella godlike and ensure they actually escape. Hell at this stage I'd be cool if after the stun the entity teleports the survivor to a random locker.

The killer isn't going out of their way to ruin someone's game.

They are tactically removing a survivor as it is their game objective.

Quit trying to conflate tunneling with an act of malice.

  • @CashelP14 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2061469#Comment_2061469

It's still got the same problems it had before. Killer tunnels you for longer than 1 minute or camps your slugged body then it does nothing. Plus once you've used DS it's a free tunnel.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2061476#Comment_2061476

I said the change was very good lad lol I understand how the perk works and understand quite well what is and isn't tunnelling.

My main point is that a killer could tunnel someone to death easily even with DS if they wanted. It was really used because of it's offensive capabilities as well as potential tunnelling. Since it's anti-tunnelling is flawed and it has no offensive ability it'll never be run, meaning even easier tunnelling.

All I want is just a buff to the anti-tunnelling part of the perk.

If you wasted over a full minute of the Killer's time in a chase you have nothing to complain about. That's 80% of any generators that started when the chase began, and full completion of any generator that was 1/4 done or more. This is a WEIRD complaint.

  • It doesn't punish the Killer?

How is a FIVE second stun in any way, shape, manner, or form NOT a form of punishment?

  • This thread is over two years old.

  • @Nicholas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2057221#Comment_2057221

Nope. The point we're discussing is whether it's necessary to tunnel a survivor. It is not. You try to conflate the issue of "tunneling" a generator, I clearly outlined the difference. A survivor's sacrificial progress isn't regressed, so you don't have to tunnel a survivor. Generators can roll back to 0% from 99%, a survivor cannot go from two hook states to zero.

Give me one good tactical reason why you should not tunnel a Survivor.

  • This perk is going to have Survivor mains HOWLING for all the extra free time "bad" killers can use NOED.

What is the counterplay for a solo Q survivor who doesn't run DS who gets farmed from the hook and tunneled?

The counterplay is if you are going to run solo AND refuse to run Decisive Strike then you should be aware of your limitations and hide better. Your example is the END result, and you should playing to avoid that scenario in the first place. I'm fond of Spine Chill and Fixated myself. I rarely get farmed off the hook because I do everything I can to not get hooked, and I do that by playing like a ninja.

If you wanna run around teabagging and flashlight clicking then you took a calculated risk in this outcome.

  • @Nicholas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2055634#Comment_2055634

Unlike a killer's investment in a survivor's sacrificial progress, generators can be regressed so it makes sense that survivors will, according to you, "tunnel" a generator. obviously this mechanic helps The Killer, because he can periodically go back to a generator that has a lot of progress investment.

    Generators regress and make progress.

Survivors lose Health states and get healed.

There are more toxic killer strategies then toxic survivor strategies and the survivors ones don’t outright prevent you from playing the game.

Flashlight stunning literally shuts down your ability to act and can be chained. Yet "flashlights are fine, there's counterplay". Despite the fact there is counterplay to both camping and tunneling as well, but that's "scummy". Because: reasons.

  • Why is it the game is always dying because of toxic strategies that KILLERS use?

Why is it that there is no such thing as a toxic Survivor strategy?

  • @PhantomChimera said:

I was trying to get the killer to hook me for an achievement and he kept ignoring me so I would run behind him and unhook the other survivors thinking he would stop me yet he/she wouldn't which figures. Murphy's Law I guess.

So is that boosting? Trying to get the killer to hook you for an achievement and if so it's not allowed?

Boosting is when a Survivor gets down to low ranks, like Red Ranks, by being in groups with players much better than them. Making their rank "boosted".

I have no idea what "boosted" means in the context of this example though.
