I agree with the top 3 but Slinger is not number 4 yes he’s very strong in 1v1 but he has no map pressure like Oni and Freddy

Huntress doesn't have map pressure either but she's still top tier because she can get fast downs ie end chases quicker than normal like you mention (being great at 1 v 1's) Not only is he great at 1 v 1's but if survivors are together he can make one (or more of them) go mend somewhere. These killers can get fast downs and go Pop they're progression, that's what makes them so strong. Freddy for example has great map pressure but due to the nerfs he received after his rework he is no longer in the top 3 or 4 position he used to be in.

  • Please leave NOED alone its fine!

your only argument for him being top 3 was forever freddy. and my argument was that forever freddy was just boring to go against.

Personally I never had any issue with it, just made the games longer than necessary. (cue you saying, "they weren't good freddy's then")

which is why I said you need to prove he's top 3, because forever freddy was annoying, not overpowered.

Forever Freddy with Pop and strong pressure, smart and efficient (3 gen strats etc). He was top 3 Free!!!!!! He was S tier. Its argurable whether Freddy was top 3-5. ARGURABLE!!!! not UNARGURABLY so you know what that means right? It means it can be debated but still within the parameters so you just cant tell me "he wasnt top 3" because im gonna keep saying he was but at the same time im taking into account your points but your not taking mine into account. YOU are 1-5 that will escape a reworked Freddy game for whatever reason and thats fair enough, doesnt change the fact that he was OP and if he wasnt he would have been left the same.

you are the one who created an opinion discussion and got mad when people disagreed.

were you just expecting people to go "yeah, your friend is way off" and you could show it to him? that's sad...

Wrong i didnt get mad. You dont know anything about me so dont "assume" i was expecting people to agree with me. I actually anticipated that people would go against what i said and not agree because i know the "mentality" of the people here. Theres nothing "sad" here my friend.

    @ThanksForDaily said:

Where is the Freddy "mains" now?

Ooops sorry, the Freddy add on mains. They're gone. Not even the S+ tier lunge can save them.

I use to play against him every other game or even back to back. Now...is more rare than billy.

I play Freddy! He is stil my main too along with Twins, Hag and Doctor (I actually play 2 killers) You have anything further to say?

  • When survivors complain about NOED i tell them "but you (survivors) have Adrenaline" Your complaints cant be contradictory.

Also for some odd reason (i believe it comes from certain streamers and they're influence on their followers) people associate killers that play with NOED either arent good or have a certain playstyle. This is pure nonsense to me. There are players/killer mains like myself that plays different type of ways depending on the situation, with different killers and map difficulty. (Im excluding swf because its kinda pointless to talk about them, they're broken) So because of the many variables i never understood why the community has such a crappy attitude towards NOED and so called NOED players.

Edit: A popular streamer actually said recently that if your doing totems for a perk that you "think" the killer is going to have then your a detriment to your team. He actually said that which i don't think is cool because THAT in itself is not healthy. Why would you tell your followers and or viewers that? If a person wants to do bones let them do that and dont put a negative connotation to that. He also said that he needs people to be slamming gens not doing bones...Look at that mentality. Sadly stuff/comments like that spread because people will more often than not agree with they're top streamer just because and not think or have an opinion for themselves. I like that streamer too, they're entertaining and good but fu** that I definetely dont agree with what they said in regards to NOED, not at all.

  • One of if not my last post here.. You guys are bringing up reasons to why he wasn't top 3 and im saying he very much was top 3 and i stand by what i say. To make comments like "i dont understand the game because of x, x and x" is just ignorant because i've been playing this game for 3 years and although im a killer main im just really good at the game period (both sides) so im gonna ignore this.

Bottom line, its argurable whether Freddy was top 3 after the rework, i stand by what i say that he was and i can bring up counter points to your posts individually but im not gonna do that because i feel like it will go in a loop and be a waste of time. Best ingame slowdown next to Pig. Non nerfed snares (which people cliam is not a big deal because he still gets looped like a typical m1 killer lmao whatever) Pop, Thanatophobia, Sloppy Butcher lol, od addons but you know...none of that stuff mattered against optimal survivors slamming gens that are taking forever...You can take these things into account but not other things like gee i dunno "The Freddy being mastery or optimal" so his opinion(s) that are backed up with good validations cant be argued. So yeah go ahead and think he was a mid tier killer all you want. People arent even being reasonable giving me (him) the benefit of the doubt with the exception of he very few here (i see you). but i can at least go well he "may" have been top 3 "OR 4, so all in all yeah, im done. The mentality of people in this thread (mostly) is....nah im done

  • Interesting.

I dont think its fair to say Friday The 13th is dead so bring Jason to DBD. People still play the game regardless of how low the numbers have gotten from over the years. People still pay they're money for it and still support it. I said interesting because i actually like that idea to a degree but you didnt factor in that although yes he is supernatural, he also uses knives and bear traps.

I explained why I didn't think he was top 3, seems like others have but some could have added more to their posts.

IMO Freddy wasn't top 3 because he couldn't counter W meta the way Blight could, thus he was outclassed by the latter. His chase was overrated in my opinion, being countered by simply predropping and holding W, something that Blight can counter.

Also you called people delusional for saying he wasn't top 3, but seeing as you didn't intend to insult then it's alright.

I hear you but i explained why he "was" top 3 so again this is argurable which i mentioned previously. Im saying people are delusional for ignoring key factors that are either overlooked or ignored but at the same time i apologized for that with a "my bad" so there we are! )

This is what you said: He’s CERTAINLY NOT top 3 after the recent nerd to his add-ons and snare placement.

My topic in summary was that reworked Freddy was top 3. Based off your response your saying it as if im talking about Freddy the way he is currently and im not so we're not in agreement because we're talking about two different things.. If you were talking about the topic then you'd say "He CERTAINLY "WASNT" top 3" then I'd say to you this is argurable.

    @Alice_pbg said:

your friend is correct. rework freddy was never top3. ever.

because 1, billy wasn't nerfed by that point. 2, hag was always better than him. 3, blight was released at some point.

and because I saw your other comment, you are the one that needs to prove he's top 3. not the other way around. make your case for him being top 3 and we'll read it.

but even when you look at tier lists back then, he wasn't #3. he was just very boring to go against when he stacked slow downs...

The person that said this didnt elaborate on why he said what he said and when i brought up reasons why he never replied back. Freddy was a little better than Billy imo. I put Billy after the Freddy rework top 5 though which is still top tier. I personally think Hag is overrated but still top tie, i just dont agree that she is as high as people have (and still do) put her. I brought up the reasons why he was top 3 (which is argurable) you just chose to either not read fully or at all and instead just looked at the title. If you didnt "just" do these things you would not say " I need to prove he's top 3, not the other way around": Thats why i always tell people READ before you reply!

My mans really insulting people for disagreeing with them

    Allodoxaphobia, fear of opinions

Wrong! People obviously have they're own opinions and i have mine but people are also "ignoring" some important factors (addons, map etc) and they are not bringing up valid points as to why he was not top tier. People tend to look at whats only on the surface and not factor in a number of things. For example i brought up good points but those points were ignored to favor their own counter claim/argument. I dont have time to respond to this type of mentality but i do respect them to a degree. I did not insult them and if i did thats my bad. Its a mentality thing

  • I've read all the comments here and you guys are actually crazy or delusional to think that Freddy wasnt top 3 or 4 after his rework! Also some of you didnt even pay attention to what i posted. I never said he's top 4 "today" I said after the rework. He got nerfed TWICE since the rework and if that doesnt tell you something i dont know what to say. Most of you guys have a very one dimensional linear way of looking at things...You "choose" to ackknowledge some things and disregard or ignore the other important aspects. You will never get a bigger understanding this way which is why i cant even reply to 90% of these responses, its actually crazy

  • @SaltyNooty said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/275497/someone-told-me-freddy-was-not-top-3-after-the-rework

Freddy before Blight took his spot was VERY oppressive and strong, Even as a good looper; I'd say he was within top 5 if not one of the most annoying killers to go against thanks to his ability to Teleport to generators and place Snares/Dream Pallets all over them map whenever he pleased. Not to mention how Brain-dead Freddy was with BBQ or Discordance + Phobia. I hated playing against him and would often just suicide off-hook or mysteriously disappear. It was as simple as picking up Freddy and quite literally just running around TPING to gens, you don't even have to place Dream snares/pallets; it was that simple.

Freddy is powerful and still is but with his nerf, I'd say he's a little LESS oppressive; if we ignore the fact he can still teleport around the map without a problem and can easily spam the move. Highkey, I wish they'd had like a 5 - 10 second cooldown to it so the killer has to at least THINK on which gen he wants to pressure people off of instead of just teleporting around. Of course, I'm not just saying this because there are fewer Freddies than there is blight; that actually makes me laugh at how fast people will switch to killers who are braindead or very powerful just to stay relevant or anything. . . . . . .

One thing people fail to realize or take into consideration is that it was the "add-ons" with the oppressive perks, and in game slowdown perks that made him super strong. Freddy was top 3 and nothings gonna change my mind about that because i mained him and hes still my main and i can see how bs he was compared to how he is today. Freddy after the rework was top 3 at the highest level right next to Spirit and Nurse, I actually put Blight 4th right after Freddy but who was better than the other is argurable. Sloppy Butcher with Freddy alone back then made it extremely tough because thats general ingame slowdown not even to mention his add-ons which penalized survivors whether they were in the dream world or not (Swing Chains) with Jump Rope. Then to make things worse he's applying hard pressure while stacking Thanatophobia, Popping your progression with pop and or preferably stacking THAT with Dying Light.

Yep, 90% of the times you get stomped are because a huge disparity between the killer and survivor's rank.

So seeing the ranks at the end of the game is extremely useful and in fact shows the issues of the current matchmaking system in DBD.

With that said NOW RANK DISPLAYS ARE BACK AND IM HAPPY. I actually dont give a sh** about random matchmaking so long as i have the end game data. Shouldnt have been taken away in the first place. Big props to BHVR for making a good call

oof you're very humble. I can't evaluate that but i can see differences in the playstyle of various top streamers and players, so... there are differences for me.

Doesnt change the fact that showing ranks doesn't really help you in any case. What is the gain in knowledge? Do you feel better if it was a rank 1 or feel worse if it was a rank 9?

I've seen them too, they're not "that" special or unique, they're very good but not much different than me or other killers i've seen or that play at rank 1. Once again i wan to see the post rank for my own personal knowledge because it helps me get or understand the many variables that go on in my head better. I've always been that way in most of the games i play.

Im a top fighting game player period buddy mainly street fighter. Im the (self proclaimed) best "overall" Street Fighter player in the world. Im not putting my fgc tag in a dbd community one, sorry. I do use the name in Dead By Daylight when im playing though

  • @KayTwoAyy said:

Bit of a strange rant, to be honest.

Ranks don't tell you why you win or lose.

If you want to continue improving, focus on yourself and how you can better adapt to the situations each trial throws at you. It sounds like you've plateaued because you let an arbitrary ranking system dictate whether or not you played well.

I think you just want the game to make excuses for your own short comings.

If you really care about why the game had a certain outcome, you'd find the answer by analyzing the gameplay.

I never said ranks tell me why i win or lose! You simply are not understanding what im saying...I said that i want to see the ranks post game so i can better understand what had just transpired in the game i just played won or lost. Once again another person telling me something i already know lol. Dont tell me how to "adapt" to a game im super good in. Its obvious that games differ trial to trial...My own shortcomings? lmao when did i ever say i was perfect? If im losing or lost a game there could be a number of reasons for that but dont make it seem like i dont take accountability for my own actions because if i happen to play bad i'll straight away admit that in my head "oh i should have played better/smarter that game" I can still look at the post game ranks and make more of an assesment, not just by looking at the killers (or survivors) perks! When i talk about analyzing i cant obviously analyze a game i didnt record...im talking about analyzation in retrospect but i admit i should have been a little more clear on this.

    @burt0r said:

    Just one question:

You play two matches and in both one or two survivor play like potatoes, one or two are decent and one is, like you, "godlike".

In game one you see the ranks green, purple, red, Red. This should be in accordance with what you expect/want to see.

Other game you see only red. What does this tell you for your "analytical" needs? Nothing, right? Experience in terms of hours might go from 100-5000.

So what is the difference from the system without ranks and game two?

From what u gather from this thread is that you only want visual conformation for yourself and nothing more.

Another person totally getting off point and not understanding what im saying. I can lose by playing bad bc it happens. If you paid any attention at all to what i have been saying you will see that i dont care about the mixed matchmaking, i can care less honestly at this point bc matchmaking is random. My complaint is NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE RANKS POST GAME! Everything else your said afterwards holds no relevance to the discussion with the exception of the comment you made about this being about me....

So in response to that i say this...I am not the only one who does not like that ranks are not displayed. I am the only one that is saying something about it and making emphasis on it. Alot of people are "yes" people, i am not one of those people, i dont care if my opinions etc are not popular, im an independant thinker and not a follower like most people so my views, perspectives, opinions etc wont be popular and im fine with that. Other people agree with me and or dont like not seeing post game ranks either but they arent saying anything or are talking about it on other forums, sm etc.

  • I played earlier and got 5 escapes in a row but the 6th game i lost to a Twins because the team was going down real fast, i get hooked and go to second stage of hook, get rescued but by that time the game is over because everyones death hook or out the game. 1 gen done and you can guess what happened next....i died in my attempt to get my team a second wind. Why am i bringing this up?

Because at the post game lobby I CANT SEE ANY STATS TO SEE WHY WHAT JUST HAPPENED HAPPENED!!!! Why cant people grasp this!? I simply want to see the rank of my teammates (solo) and the killer so i can know "SOMETHING" and before this patch i could do that to make at least a little sense out of things but no instead im left with no answers and "on to the next game" That is very very garbage to me and whack! smh

Edit: Serious question, is there any way i can contact BHVR to make a complaint or my dislike about something in the game? Yeah its that bad! I spent money on this game so i should at least be entitled to speak my mind about something i totally disagree with.

  • @solidhex said:

As many people already said, ranks don't say anything because of various things. The fact that red rank players are usually better than yellow ranks doesn't change that the current ranking system has flaws.

If you're that analytical you will have a hard time with Dbd, this game is super random. It's not a game where you can nail down the skill of a killer with some one-dimensional values like "kills per minute" or something like that. Every match is different. You can play against the same team 10 times and the outcome will always be different, if you have appr. the same skill level. Of course there are better or worse killers in the game, but the only way to tell this is to watch them and make long term studies. I'm also rank 1 most of the time and i'm pretty sure i'm not as good as Otz or other more famous killer players. Why? I just watch them and see them make plays i wouldn't in those situations. Of course there is no measureable value for these kind of things - you have to watch and analyse decision making, movement - it's not a simple to explain-skill like "aiming fast and precise in an ego-shooter".

If you want to get better, record your games and analyze. Ranks won't help you explaining why you made a misplay or lost or won or whatever. I really don't understand this. Since ranks are not a mirror of the survivors skill, what value does it have to see if the survivor who juked you was green or red? You have to understand the ranking system first, then you can make conclusions out of it.

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Ranks do mean something and most of what you said i know already and the rest i just dont agree with. I know how good i am at this game and honestly i would never say x player is better than me because i know how good "I" am. Top players whether they are survivors or killers are not that different from eachother so comparing players in this game is pointless. YOU can say that those players are better than you but i will never say such a thing, this is not a fighting game where you can measure how good or bad a player is comparable to yourself. I dont need to get "better" at DBD im already godlike. The ceiling for ability in this game is not "that" high like your making it out to be. I can make conclusions and opinions about the game because i've played it a long time, and im great at it. Im a killer main but im very good with survivor too. All that means is that if something is on the line i would play killer or just that im more adaptive to playing killer bc i dont like the fact that i have to rely on another person to determine whether i win, lose, unhooking me etc.

Ranks actually matter a little bit, but they're generally disregarded because it's a loose correlation.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424012#Comment_2424012

Well, time played, of which ranks are a proxy, is again loosely correlated with skills.

There's no doubt that on average someone who plays more than someone else is going to be more proficient at the game. Of course, there will be outliers, but the keywords here are 'on average'.

By productivity alone, I usually can tell very quickly if I'm going against red rank survivors, or if the lobby is purple of worse.

The difference in looping might be negligeable in many cases. However, nobody stays in red ranks consistently by hiding in lockers the whole trial.

It might not look like a big divider on the surface, but it's going to carry a lot of weight when people are productive instead if being scarredy cats.

So, I don't agree with the notion that ranks are completely disjointed from skills. Even though I recognize the rank system has enormous pitfalls when it comes to that.

Well said! Its one thing to say that ranks dont matter "much" but people are saying that it doesnt matter at all which is absolutely crazy thinking to me.

I don't play this game crazily. If you want proof, I don't think I ever made it past level 35 in any rift. Heck, as someone that knows this game for more than 5 years and has been playing for almost 5 years, I only have 1200 hours.

With this amount of playtime, I've literally never been red rank. With MMR on, I always have at least a red rank in my games. Which probably means that I am indeed a purple-red rank player, that plays very little, and never gets to rank up fast enough.

And don't get me wrong, I never struggle to rank up. When I play more than usual, I get to purple ranks. But that usually happens right before reset.

Ranking works in other games because it is not pure grind. There are things like jumping over ranks, qualification and most importantly, no reseting. All that happens at most is a season end which means you have to requalify. If you do very good, you might as well be higher than before.

I forgot to multi quote, sorry. I just wanted to comment about your comment regarding rank working in other games because you say it isnt a pure grind and you are completely wrong about that. I come from the fgc (fighting game community) which i must admit is very different than the dbd community in some ways although its mostly about "mindset" comparisons that i wont get into here. Ranking is very much a grind in other gams, fighting games in particular because you have to get exp and grind not just mastering your character (execution, reacting to things etc) but you have to grind the match-ups as well. People seeing this statement and bring up the online vs offline debate but regardless of whatever reason for playing online or off your still grinding the mu and preparing for tournaments. DBD is obviously not a competitive game but they are taking the one thing that you can use to make assesments for a game like this away and like i've said before its a turnoff and personally i think its a mistake but time will tell.

  • @Hex_Llama said:

Everybody likes to understand why they won or lost, but it sounds like you're main explanation for why you win or lose is other people's ranks. Can't you just look at what happens in the match and say, "Oh, we won/lost because we did that?"

I solo que and the majority of the time if i lose its because players make bad decisions and or plays and these are coming from the green and some purple ranks and rarely the red ranks. I gave an above example where a Meg decided that doing a gen while me and another survivor were hooked and someone was being chased but she was full map away doing a gen and i had Kindred......I checked after the match and lo and behold she was a rank 9...Thats just one example of why green and purple (below rank 5) ranks should not be paired with red ranks. I wouldnt have a problem with this but they're pairing me up with these rank spreads into yellow against RANK 1''s. Why would they think thats a good idea? Even still i would prefer that type of matchmaking as opposed to not seeing any ranks at all because i cant make good assesments again because i have rank display taken away from me post game!

If i play really well with survivor and i escape but i can tell that the killer was good but struggled because of the map, i'd like to see if the rank 1 depiped or not so i can understand things more because as a killer main i like to see it from both perspectives. If i derank at rank 1 because im using a non conventional "fun" build on The Game or Haddonfield against all red ranks i at least know why i lost. With this new mmr system i know very little to nothing to make a good assesment and analyze things more clearly because the ranks are no longer visible. Im not saying i cant get outplayed because i can but i still want some form of knowing what i "went" up against to help me understand things better!

Lol Why cant people get this or see where im coming from?

  • DerpyPlayz

You said: Yhea, they have voiced they're distaste of it for a while if I recall correctly. With that being said however, I am not sure it is a mistake. The ranking system as it is is terribly flawed. Although I think I would prefer it over a MMR system, even if they manage to make it work correctly.

My comment: This remains to be seen, we'll see.

You said: Or you just don't understand what it dictates. Rank does not account for skill at all.

I have a friend who has got the game a few months ago and he hit rank 3 in roughly a few weeks. He however, is more like what I would consider a rank 11. Clearly there are issues here. Its also common for newer players to get to Rank 1, hence why so many R1 do not play like how you would think the best rank in the game would play the game. If they did, every single match would be 30x more hell then what they already are at times.

Truthfully, as the devs have said, all rank is, is play time. Nothing more, nothing less.

Based of rank alone, you couldn't tell the difference between a rank 1 who has played for 100 hours, nor one that has played 1,000,000 hours.

My response: How exactly is a rank 1 suppose to play because your assigning prerequisites to players that like to play a variety of ways with a variety of killers and a variety of perks. I play 11 killers at rank 1 and one of those killers is Clown. I play Insideous Clown and 7/7 games (using this particular build) with him i managed to pip or go even (not depiping) but im using Insideous so ppl have messaged me complaining. I can care less but this goes to show that what you said is a bad example because not everyone plays sweaty at rank 1. I only play sweaty at rank 2 because obviously i want my rank 1 back so i dont get your "how a rank 1 is suppose to play" comment. People in general play the way they want HOW they want to, period! I never once mentioned skill im talking about "ability" player ability. I'll give you that its hard to tell the difference between 100hr rank 1's and 1000 hr rank 1's though.

You: Rank doesn't mean anything, you could be vsing a smurf. You could be facing someone who artificially ranked down. The list goes on. All that tells you, is the play time on the account was not enough for them to be able to get to R15.

Me: Im talking about the majority not the minority and i mentioned this in an above post. Rank DOES mean something/matter!

You: Simple, they were better then you, you did poorly, they capitalized on something in a close game, they are a swf with strat or you are vsing survs who are playing the game correctly and you are playing a weak killer. Inverse would be the same reasons you win.

ME: No, i win or lose and know the reason for a number of reasons. Knowing an opponents (or teammates) rank is a part of it but also who im playing and what map im on because counterpick maps ie difficult maps need to be equated. Bottom line, since i cant see ranks i cant fully asses why im losing or why i have won at times. Im very analytical and everyone is different so you saying all those things, i know that already but if i want to see ranks i should be able to see ranks, period!

    You: Because they dont.

    Me: Yes they do!

You: No one knows what goes on in the mind of the devs. One second they make a good chapter with good changes, the next second they are focusing on Pyramid Head's butt appearance in game (while glorifying it).

Me: That is rather odd...good point.

You: I agree tbh, I don't think MMR is good for DBD.

Me: Yeah we're in agreeance here!

You: Agreed, but not for the reason listed. I agree because at least in the old match making, I didn't have to sweat every match to a insane degree and resort to camping nor tunneling (smartly) in specific situations as weak killers to make traction.

Me: If you your a killer at rank 1 often than you should know that it was easier to get kills, pip, 4k etc because of the old matchmaking. They would pair green, with a red, with two purples or one purple and a 2 greens and a yellow. This didnt turn out well for survivors paired up with lesser ability players ie weaker survivors.

You: You can't compare fighting games and this game, for one this is a 4 v 1. So just that fact makes it hard to be balanced, but in other games rank might actually mean something unlike in this game.

Me: I brought that up as a point of reference although i can give some good examples and compare i wont do that again bc i brought it up as a point of reference. I dont agree with you, rank "does" matter!

You: That is not smart to say, because that doesn't make sense. If a yellow and red play at the same skill level, WHICH IS VERY COMMON because RANK DOESN'T MATTER for this game, then it is good to pair them together, provided the game's balance doesn't get crushed like in this game.

Me: Red ranks and yellow ranks Do NOT play at the same skill level on average! What im saying totally makes sense. Playing the game as long as we (may) have you'll notice that yellow ranks (im not talking about smurfs) make horrible descisions, period! I can bring up many examples from personal experience as well as watching others play so you saying what im saying isnt "smart" has no validity here.

You: To filter people like you complaining about the ranks, although you seem to complain about how they tried to stop you complaining about what you are complaining about... so it didn't completely work.

Me: Its a bad idea period and they just "took something away" that they didnt have to. If you paid attention you would see that i wasnt really complaining about getting matched up with lower ranks. As a matter of fact im gonna look back at my original post because i dont think i was complaining about that at all. My "complaint" was the fact that i cant "see" the ranks and i should be able to "see ranks" The actual matchmaking itself is whatever but once again as a player that is analytical i need to know why and or understand why i lost a game or won a game. Not being able to see ranks now takes this aspect away from me.

You: I play R1 both, since 2 years, with roughly 5000 hours. In that time, I realized how stupid it is to try to use ethos because it is a fallacy in this sense. How long you have played mostly doesn't matter, and it certainly doesn't matter in the sense of what you have said in this post

Me: I have NO idea what you just said let alone what your getting at *shrugs*

  • Just for the record i am a very analytical player in ALL games i play. Therefore something like this in DBD is a nightmare for me and a turnoff because i need to make sense of things! I cant say oh its over and THATS IT, no i need to analyze why i lose and even win at times so i can understand things better and improve (If theres improvment/adjustments to be made). Seeing the survivors and killers perks at the end simply isnt enough for me, i need more than that because all i know is what ppl were running and nothing else. Everyones different! Im well aware that people smurf in games but im not talking about these people because before they're smurf accounts they're Super Grand Master or whatever the games ranking system is before they got on that account so for whatever reason they're smurfing (i personally dont get why ppl do this but to each his own)

  • @GrimoireWeiss said:

Because ranks in this game only reflect how much you play this game, not how good you are. I mostly play killer and I always get to rank 1 one or two days after reset, but I'd never consider myself on the level of people like Otz or Dowsey just because I'm the same rank as them.

You don't consider yourself on their level (or above) because you "envy" them. A quick story..Before i came a "top player" in fighting games there were other players that i played and "beat" and i didn't really know who they were until after when the people at the arcade told me. I honestly didnt care who they were, i knew how good i was and i wanted to win so "names" didnt mean much to me because in order to be a top player i first had to beat these high level fighting game players and eventually became a top name myself. Otz and Dowsey (not disrespect to them) are not special! They along with all of us who play at rank 1 are the same as everyone else. Theres no way you can measure how good you are as a killer vs other killers in this game because theres no stats, leaderboards etc and theres no challenge aspect to DBD to find this out so your just downplaying yourself. Yeah you can say x person is better than me but that doesnt really apply to DBD because there are way too many variables to determine this.

    @Crowman said:

The problem you have is that you are trying to tie a value to ranks when there is no real value to them. It's really easy to stay in purple/red ranks if you ever hit them once since you don't reset very far. Not to mention if you ever take an extended break from the game you'll get reset down to low ranks, but you'll still stomp players at those rank because you are still better than them.

The rank system fails at judging actual skill at the game and the devs want a matchmaking system that tries to create more balance games. You just need to accept that ranks don't really mean much.

I know all this but this is NOT creating balance. A balance matchmaking is having all red ranks go against a rank 1 or 2 killer and vice versa with no in between. I'm not going to accept that because that's not what i believe/feel. Ranks very much do matter and the 3 years that i've played this game i've seen why.

    @Purgatorian said:

I am a solo player and always climbing my way to red ranks. I am a low purple/high green rank player at best but because I put time into it I got to red ranks. It is too easy to get there and too hard to get out of without screwing team mates over and I won't dc just to derank.

Its easy to get to rank 1 with killer because the matchmaking has always been bad.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2424025#Comment_2424025

Rank doesn't mean much...at red rank. There can be some bad red ranks and there are some really good red ranks. However the ratio of bad players to good players skews further and further toward bad the worse rank they are. That's not to say there aren't some great players at the lower ranks that don't play often, but they are exceedingly rare and will very rapidly rank up in the sparing time they do have. Only need a pip in like 12 games to move an entire rank color and it resets once a month so odds are they won't be very low even with little gametime.

Thats not the majority, its the minority. The weaker or bad players are the purple ranks and below again for different reasons. If your paired with other red ranks 100% of the time one out of the other three of the survivors may not be up to par but this is every other game..Your saying it like the majority of red ranks play bad most of the time and this simply is not the case. Its not rare to see these players because even if they are not playing so well they're still better than 90% of the purple and green ranks you'll get paired up with. Check this scenerio out. Two ppl are hooked myself included, the third survivor gets downed, the fourth survivor is full map away doing a gen AND I have Kindred...lol You know w hy we all died that game? Because at the end of the match i checked the ranks and the player (It was a Meg) was a rank 9 and THATS why i lost. I lost that game because BHVR decided it was a good idea to pair me up with this green rank resulting in my loss. Now of course there was no way for me to know this until post game which brings me back to my original point. They're efforts to create "balance" with this new MMR system is bad and a terrible one because they're matchmaking is very flawed. Now post game i cant even see if a killer (when im playing survivor) depiped or not because i have no stats/information on they're rank and thus i DONT know why i lost that game (or won)

I really dont think people are understanding this or comprehending why this is such a horrible idea!!

  • Its very similar to the Iron Will bug when using certain perks with survivor. For instance when im using Chris with Flashbang something (still haven't figured out exactly what) and im injured i will make no noise as if i had Iron Will when i dont but if i go in a locker and when exiting from one im noisy again so..

  • Undying Ruin is much better than running ruin alone. You can expect your Undying to go down fast but its purpose is to give you more time to find survivors and get downs, hooks etc before Ruin gets found and destroyed. All in all it does its job. I've played with killers without Undying/Ruin and its crazy how much of a difference it makes having it vs not having it (Undying/Ruin) There will be times when both will go down back to back. This has happened to me and i've seen it happen to a killer when i was playing survivor which shocked me because i thought i was the only one to have such bad luck but it will work out for you more often than not. Gens just go way too fast so the games "balance" is revolved around Undying/Ruin if your going against strong survivors whether they are solo or not. Not to mention also your that your going to be playing on bad or disadvantage maps most of the time so you want an equalizer. Unfortunately this means you have to learn how to play with 2 perks only as both can go down fairly quick but its much better to have Undying/Ruin as opposed to Ruin alone. I main killer and that's my take. Medium high risk, high reward vs just having ruin alone which is high risk, high reward

If you want to use Ruin alone i strongly suggest against it and instead use that slot for something you'll get more value out of like Sloppy Butcher, Corrupt and or Pop considering you dont have them on your perk build already.

  • These people (all racist people) are ignorant and they're consciousness/awareness is low on that scale. Its hard to ignore but just continue reporting them, maybe one day actions can be taken on these people. Its not right and never will be right!

I play survivor so here is the combos I found works the most.

    1. Autodidact/Solidarity or Bite the bullet

    2. Fixated/Sprint Burst

    3. Windows of oppurtunity/Any Means Necessary

    4. Counterforce or Small Game/ Inner Strength

    6. Plunderer's Instinct/ Appraisal or Ace In the hole

    7. Blast Mine/ Red Herring

That's all I can think off for now. I can add more when I thi think of them.

Yeah Pluderer's Instinct/ Ace In The Hole/ Appraisal is THAT perk combo with a purple cut coin to maximize utility of the build. These are pretty decent

    Nemisis/Furtive Chase

    Franklin's Demise/Hoarder

    Iron Grap/Aggitation

Im a killer main as well and i've never tried Nemesis with Furtive Chase together. I'll try that at rank 1 (and rank 1 only). I tried Hoarder and BBQ once but and it seemed ok but i can see why you would play that and Franklins, not bad!

  • @DBD_IS_AWSOME said:

So if I have a killer that is 4.6m/s, and I have a perk that increases his movement speed by 2% each token that the perk gets, how much is 2%? Like how much would I add? For example like add 0.8m/s to the base speed. You know what I mean?

I can answer your question using Body Block Hag (Scarred Hand & Waterlog Shoe) as an example. Hag on default is 4.4m or 110 movement speed. Waterlog shoe gives her slightly more movement speed which makes her 112.5% movement which is quite interesting. PWYF one stack makes her 117.5%, two stacks 122.5% and 127.5% movement speed or around 5.2 meters which is insane for a Hag that has a good amount of traps set. Even one stack with these add-ons makes her like a 4.7m which is pretty good.

Btw if your interested to know what my Body Block Hag build is, its Blood Warden/Play With Your Food/STBFL/Hex: No One Escapes Death with Scarred Hand & Waterlog Shoe.

  • DH is perfectly fine. Well...unless your on console then your Dead Hard doesnt really go anywhere and or the game drops frames as your doing it and you get bodied! lol

  • I 100% dont agree with this. Self Care already got nerfed (did you see the first two versions of self care lol) and people have died because others are Self Caring and it can happen from time to time. Why would you want aura reading on Self Care players when the killer can run Nurses? This change you suggested is not a good one at all, sorry!

  • @xenotimebong said:

I don’t agree with #3 at all. If every survivor avoids gens and runs around the map looking for totems, the game is at a complete standstill. It’s a terrible feeling when one survivor is being chased and buys enough time for people to do gens, only to be hooked and see their entire team running around like headless chickens looking for a totem.

Just check the totem spots near where you spawn and cleanse the ones you find. If it’s not Ruin, hop on a gen. When you move around the map, check the other spots. If all survivors do this you’ll probably get two gens done and find the totem before long anyway.

The problem with this is that if you run into a killer like myself who hit and runs and patrols gens when Ruin is up your back to square one which is "Ruin is still up" I run BBQ most of the time so im always gonna have info. What usually happens is I down a survivor (as a rank 2) with Freddy and i teleport to that gen being worked on, the survivor is now off the gen and i have the auras to know if other gens are being worked on and while someone is hooked or downed (slugged) as well. I can care less about a gen or even 2 getting done with Ruin still up because my pressure is OD and Ruin (Undying/Ruin) is THAT strong. So what you suggest/state is not a long term plan but a short term one and once again a killer main like me will exploit your team easily

  • @Phasmamain said:

It is infuriating when you’re team attempts to power through a ruin tinkerer blight only to die at 4 gens and call ruin OP

Lol Yeah this is exactly what im talking about, thanks for bringing this up! People will try and power through the gens only to find out that the killer is good and it doesnt work. 90% of Blights run Undying/Ruin/BBQ/Tinkerer so i dont understand why you would want to "not" look for Ruin against a top 3 killer lol. That is insane to me. Smh people man!

  • I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Only reason i dont give it 5 stars is because it needs to be combined with other perks to be effective. One of my survivors (Claudette) has Lithe/Spine Chill/Iron Will/Lucky Break with a medkit with good add-ons. My survival % is 85-90% which is very good for solo. Its the same for Killer where Haunted Grounds is good but to be very effective needs to be paired with Retribution, same thing.

  • Freddy is better than Wraith but Wraith is pretty good.

  • If your not really tryna survive than its not scary but if you actually care about the games your in you'll certain feel tension if not full out scariedness. I played this game for 3 years and still get jumpscared by Myers, Ghostface, Pig and in rarer cases Tinkerer, Trail Of Torment and Insidious users

  • @TwitchyMike said:

Than what they need to do is a casual play matchmaking and ranked. And in ranked you see your fellow survivors perks in the main lobby and in the loading screen. And the killer obviously wouldn't see their perks. And vise versa. No my idea is survivors see each others perks only. Period.

Casual play is without seeing perks.

Ranked is seeing other players perks.

Yeah and i think thats bad because it takes away from the core game of solo which is 'how would people randomly paired up together work together in a effort to survive"? SWF is swf and they know eachothers perks 95% of the time so let that stay separate from the i gotta know all perspective because honestly on a personal standpoint that would greatly kill the games fun factor for me. Its bad enough that games are dumbed down for this generation of gamers/players so i feel the game should stay the same in regards to this.

  • No..I think the idea of seeing other survivors perks is a horrible one

Problem is Devs don't think that Totems are bad. They keep buffing/encouraging survivors to find totems with the recent perks, but fail to notice that most totems are right in the open, next to a Gen or even next to a survivors at the start of the match.

Totem placements were changed at some point. I think Totem spawns should be revisited.

  • First three games i played today as survivor, i ran into two Undying/Ruin killers and one Ruin only killer! Just saying.

  • Not at rank 2 no. At rank 1 i use non meta builds on various killers i play and Ruin & or Undying/Ruin on my weaker killers. I've gotten a number of messages from players thanking me for playing unconventional builds against them and how fun the game was as opposed to Pop, Tinkerer etc. and it makes the game fun for me because running full meta perk builds is boring to me so i play a wide variety of builds and type (theme) of builds. Again your right im not a good killer to run into when i have rank 2, nor is it fun for those involved.

That i'd put you to shame. 100% with trapper. legion and Clown, and to show you why they're not F tier as you call em,

Because you SERIOUSLY doubt a good killer main that can do well with said killers,

When or where did i ever say Trapper, Legion or Clown was F tier? Your mistaken. You don't even know what my tier list is but feel free to ask if you want

  • @Chocolate_Cosmos said:

What bothers me the most is Clown being totaly unplayeble thanks to his power not working many times.

Okay, map for two weeks is sad (For me personaly it is amazing since that map is total garbage to play) but can you imagine waiting +2 weeks for a Killer to be playeble? I am disapointed.

I personally cant learn Nemesis because of this. Whiffing as you know can lose you the game and hit % and dexterity is extremely important. This being the case Nemesis is nearly unplayable and because of this i find myself using his ability less which is bad. Same here man

Imma be real if your ruin + undying is going that fast use a different perk combo.

Also, Ruin + Undying + Pop on Freddy and you still can't prevent gens being done? Maybe the issue lies elsewhere.

Once again people are oblivious to what is being said or they're just skimming through what i said without really looking/pondering on it... I dont lose with Freddy when i have Undying/Ruin/BBQ/Pop unless on extremely rare occasions at rank 2. I "said" the games where i dont use Undying/Ruin with a variety of killers and use non meta or non conventional builds is when i struggle because once again, the gens go too fast! Yes I can have bad games but i rarely have bad games when i have Undying/Ruin if at all so for the umpteenth time the problem is the gen speeds. If you lose with Ruin up that means that you didnt apply good enough pressure period. Once again i main killer and mess around at rank 1 because theres no point going hard at rank 1 (for me) so i like to have fun and use gimmic or non meta builds. Maybe learn to not rely on those 2 perks? You know they have a high chance of being removed early on, if you insist on using them it's on you.

Everyone saying the same thing lol. Play a weaker killer at rank 1 without it and see how you do (consistently) versus efficient survivors at rank. Your gonna lose a little more than you win and its not because your not that good or whatever, its because the gens will go too fast.

Right now, there have been a lot of anti-hex perks on the survivor side that have been added or buffed. You have to really consider how easy it is for survivors to get totems, even if they are hidden in the absolute best spot in the map. The meta has shifted away from hex perks, so you have to adjust.

If the meta has shifted than why do so many people run Ruin in their games if it wasnt so bad? I play killer at rank 1 and at rank 1 i play multiple killers with non-ruin builds (except Clown) and i definetely notice the difference. At rank 2 i'll play my main(s) like Freddy and get back to rank 1. I played Freddy at rank 2 one time and i actually lost which is very rare. Those games i had no Ruin/Undying and had just other perks Sloppy Butcher etc. The moment i use Undying/Ruin theres an automatic difference. Survivors struggle all of a sudden and this is the case because Ruin (Undying) takes them out of they're comfort zone which is to sit on a gen until its done or at worst if the killer comes to that gen another survivor can just finish it although this is mostly the case for swf or aware survivors. I adjust very well but the problems still remain and imho you need to learn how to play 2 or 3 perks as the meta.

Run Ruin+Pop, not Ruin+Undying, so you'll lose only one perk and still have gen regression.

Didnt you read my post? I said i use Undying/Ruin/BBQ/Pop with Freddy so im gonna have Pop regardless. Once again the problem is it going in the first 30 seconds and having 2-3 perks per game. It can last the entire game or it can go really fast, thats why i said (In the title) its best to learn how to play with 2 perks. You really have to assume that they'll go down quick.

Better yet: learn to play without Ruin. It's not even close to being a mandatory perk to win.

I play without Ruin and i "do" win. The problem is that i will win more with Ruin builds as opposed to having 4 perks and no Ruin or Undying/Ruin and i can potentially lose depending on what killer i have.

    Yuck.

People still rely on Ruin / Undying?

you don't need that. just rely on your skill and you'll get the kills my guy, lol

Yuck? lol There are many, many people that still play with Undying/Ruin because the gens go very fast against a optimal team and sometimes they dont even need to be fully optimal for you to lose. Im very good at DBD so i dont need you telling me about skill etc, im actually great at the game and wish there were tournaments for it but anyway with that said like i mentioned above i win without it but the % of me winning with Undying/Ruin is considerably greater and noticeable as opposed to me playing 4 (no gen reduction perks) perks. Pop sometimes is not enough... Do you even main killer? Try playing Clown or Trapper 3 consecutive games without any Ruin and see how well that goes. Oh yeah play him at rank 1 btw to increase your chances of going against stronger survivors. Once you do that "then" come talk to me about Undying/Ruin being overrated or whatever it is your trying to get at

  • People arent running red and purple keys enough imo. I think keys are very broken but that's just my opinion. Red or Purple Key with Left Behind is actually OP!

He's the worst killer right now no exaggeration. Clown and legion are way better than him.

Unfortunately he's not going to be buffed for an extreme amount of time because the devs just gave him some buffs even though it wasn't enough.

I main killer and I play Clown and Legion, they are not that much better than Trickster! Trickster, Trapper, Clown and Legion are all B+ or at worst i'll put Trickster B. Why do people think this killer isnt viable when he is. There is not one killer in dbd thats terrible or even bad, i dont understand this line of thinking

  • No hes not. Trickster isnt bad at all
