I saw the old legion and I don't understand why people are bringing him up in this thread?

This thread is not meant to bring any of the infinite moonwalking bullcrap back.

It's only the basic attacks on his feral frenzy, to make it synergize with perks that could make him more aggressive and make the game last longer.

I do NOT want old legion back, he was super annoying to go against. I just want new legion to not be terrible against 3-4 survivors who can loop, because at the end of the day he's an M1 killer, he needs something to account for it.

Exactly, if you notice people use the exploits as some form of reasoning to why he needs to be nerfed, ummm, how about remove the two addons that allowed infinite mending and address backwards cheese? Done, Legion fixed,.... but no they act as if we want those exploits back.

Y'know I heard a funny theory that in Star Wars no one brought up the issue with the Deathstar having a massive weakpoint was because if they did, they were afraid of being force choked to death. Shoot the messenger and all that.

A problem has to get fixed regardless of whether or not the problem wasn't publicized. Steamers are just on a platform that allows them to spread the word faster.

Is Legion in a poor state and needs a complete rework? No. He's fully functional in the right hands.

This isn't Star Wars, and the streamers were doing it with the intent of getting him removed. It is bannable to show exploits on twitch.

Dont try to white knight them after the fact, their intent was harm. Nothing else.

Quick question, were you playing DBD when old legion was around?

Old Legion was probably the worst thing introduced into DBD. A lot of survivors complain about killers being unfun due to not knowing how to counter a certain killer, but Legion was generally extremely unfun to play (I didn't play as Legion until his remork) and against. There were so many exploits a Legion player could use, such as infinite mending (not exaggerating, it literally took five minutes to mend) and moonwalking Legion.

An average match of Legion would result with Legion hitting you with Frenzy, he would moonwalk whilst following the blood. The old deep wound timer would go down when not in a chase, when Legion was moonwalking it didn't count as in chase. So the survivor had two options continue mending and become an easy down, or run eventually to get downed to the deep wound timer.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8006FDP4Iw8

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85ZMo-8uqEs

Also Legion was the reason why borrowed time was buffed, let that sink in.

The backwards cheese couldve been fixed without altering the charachter in the way it was done.

Secondly, using "infinite mending" as a justification for any changes to his design is absolutely ridiculous, two addons couldve been changed or removed, in fact they didnt even disable them at first which allowed the problem to get worse due to the reason I stated above: Twitch streamers trying to get him removed and encouraging the backwards walking and infinite mending. To make matters worse they made a statement that anyone running the addons would be "auto-banned" no reporting needed,... insteead of removing the addons. Or, gasp, fixing them?

  • I dont really care, I want people to continue to buy cosmetics so the game lives a nice long life.

I dont care what it takes, BHVR keep getting that money so the investors want to continue pushing this project.

Having seen many online games die, this is one I want to continue to play for many years. It is sad when a game dies.

  • Not gonna lie, I am torn.... as a killer, when I play surv I hate button mashing, but I LOVE bloodpoints, so I always struggle to the end just for the points.

Will the skill checks award us a similar bloodpoint amount or just 50 points that may occur on 2-3 checks before rescue?

I despise mashing buttons, but want muh bloodpoints man

  • Only two I can think of.

You want the game to be over.

    Blood Warden play

  • Why?

Twitch streamers with thousands of viewers were in effort trying to get him removed from the game.

Some of the biggest streamers of this game were showing his backwards walking cheese all day, while saying openly "maybe this will get legion removed" - Back then there was no call "to nerf Legion" they wanted him "removed from the game."

Majority of players had no idea about walking backwards, nor do the majority of players think like that - the behavior was encouraged on twitch and the cheese spread.

To this day, I blame them more than anyone, none were banned, only no-name legions who ran the "forever mending" exploit were supposedly banned, but people who showed the world how to do it,... well,... they still stream the game as if nothing happened.

That's because dipshit fanboys like you keep giving them money for a broken product. Keep that up and they will never fix it. DBD really has no competition, the first competent asymmetrical horror game to compete with DBD will leave it in ruin.

I tried to do gens but then everyone just started chasing me down, I hid for a while but the survivors found the locker I was in, I really didn’t want to get hook farmed and that was the first time I had DCed in a long time. It’s fine imo to farm but don’t force it on others like a jerk.

In your example, that is bannable I believe. And I agree with everything you said. I do not farm in such a way and as a survivor have often left the match myself.

  • @catbeans said:

DBD is broken at it's core. The game is filled to the bring with terrible design choices that the community often abused making most games a complete waste of time especially with how que times can be. If they do not fix these issues DBD will be lucky to last another 4 years

In 2017, people cried about map designs, and que times, and here we are in 2020. And the doomsayers still here.

This is a game where people spend over $500 on cosmetics my dude, it will be here long after you stop playing it.

  • Well, you get shards for free playing the game and in 3 years you should definitely have enough saved to buy the DLCs that are not licensed.

I understand your grievance, but one should not act as if they do not give free DLC ability.

You mean this one? Yeah, this is a good read considering the game hasn't slowed down yet.

Okay, time to address the topic. Yeah, DBD has issues. Serious issues. Single skins costing as much as full DLC is one of those. And the new "Legendary" skins (which I still think are stupid and BHVR should feel bad for creating them) are even worse offenders. The amount of chapters that you must pay for that aren't licensed is also pretty bad. The last free chapter we got was with Huntress THREE YEARS AGO! Seriously, give people something else to give them a break. And the Battle Pass System doesn't belong in a Pay to Play game.

The game also has so many bugs that they could call the best exterminator in the world and still not clear out half of them.

But all that said, saying BHVR haven't become a voice would be lying. We all know how stingy Konami is, but BHVR was able to reach them and obtained Silent Hill, which is no small feat. In no other game can you play as Pyramid Head chasing down Ashley Williams down the halls of Hawkins Laboratory. Or be Michael Myers stalking down Cheryl/Heather Mason through an abandoned preschool in Ohio. No other game does this, and even if we got another similar game, it would have to compete with a game that has NINE different licenses from across the horror genre and we know has at least two more coming in.

I don't think DBD is going anywhere.

"The last free chapter we got was with Huntress THREE YEARS AGO!"

I just bought Oni, Deathslinger with shards....

The problem is nobody wants gen simulator and a lack of altruism and chase points most people want to actually play the game and a lot of the time if you don’t farm your team will farm you and let you get hard tunneled off hook while sandbagging you

Maybe I guess people have different ideas of farming, I am not talking about sitting at the hook and letting people unhook.

I basically hook every one once as normal chases for BBQ stacks,.., and then continue to chase and down them, I just dont kill them. I still chase and slug them, sometimes i even kill 1 or 2, there are different and non unfun ways to get some extra points. Somes I hook them all twice, then slug rest of the match and let them pick each other up but I dont sit there at the hook farming and letting people slam me with pallets, but if i see 5 cakes, I play nicer for sure. 200k games rule. Once I maxed on hits if someone tries to slam with a pallet I will kill em.

As they said you must agree to wanting to farm many of the devs have strictly said if someone tries to farm rather then playing the game when that’s what you want to do they can be banned for it that is the main reason they barely do bp events too many people farm when thats not everyone else’s play style

As a survivor when killer is farming, I do the gens and leave. Not sure what the complain is, no one is forcing you to farm. Did 4 of the 5 gens two nights ago on a farming killer.

I play both sides and can see it from both angles as I have almost 1000 hours just on surv side.

  • @siren_sorceress said:

Farming was fun when I was 100hrs in. Farming was okay 1000hrs in maybe. 5k hours in I will instantly leave the match if a farming killer refuses to kill me. You have to really suck as killer to need to farm considering how many more points you make compared to survivors.

So you farmed to get where you are, and then ridicule others who are doing the same thing you did.

  • "I just got some new games and I'm having more fun playing those."

Yet, you're on a DbD forum not playing those games.

Speaks volumes about the longevity of this game.

It is still like that. The trap must be ACTIVATED for that to work, they have to leave via an exit gate and cannot be dropped over the line by the Pig.

Traps only activate after a generator is complete, so no endgame traps.

Hatch does not activate the trap.

ok, but wasn't it changed to be that way? I only recently started to play Pig, she is one of the final killers I need to p3.

I was under the impression it was nerfed before I took my 10 month break, I was gone from the game for 3 DLCs

As long as the pyramid head has sight of you and is in range and knows what they're doing, they can simply wait for the vault animation.

In the situation described, if you play against any decent PH you will be hit. Faking the window works against bad PH's. Good ones will simply M1 if you do that.

    So there IS counterplay.

  • @azame said:

Alot of people believe these these three killers have counterplay so I decided to make a thread going in depth the reasons why they lack counterplay. If I am wrong and you they do have counter play feel free to provide it.

    Spirit:

Spirit lack of counterplay comes from the fact that her power has no tell in a chase leaving the survivors mostly in the dark. This lack of tell leaves survivors to guess. This guess is very much in the spirits favor. Add stridor into the mix and you have a broken build more on that later.

The reason the guess is in the spirits favor is because she can stand still observe your moves and act accordingly. If you walk/run away she phrases to your location and hits you, if you walk towards her she hits you. Against a good spirit there isnt much you are able to do and you are pretty much choosing which way you prefer to die. If you are injured it doesnt matter because like I said a good spirit is immediately phasing towards you and downing you.

Stridor spirit is a dirty build and has really.no counterplay. This is because it counters iron will which is usually the reply to "how do I counter spirit." When you are injured you are counting down the seconds until your death. There isnt really much to say on this because the majority of spirits run this.

    Deathslinger:

There isnt much to cover mostly his zoning and quick shots.

I'm gonna start with his quick shots. The quick shot shoots in less than a second it shoots very quickly you can not react to that. Because you can not react to his shot you have to guess when hes gonna shoot and dodge accordingly. This is the problem let's say you are dodging preemptively you are losing speed and distance, then he can get up close and m1. You either guess right and he misses. Or you dont guess right and he walks up and m1s you due to your constant dodging.

His zoning is insanely strong and oppressive in chases. He can ads in and out. So let's say you are running from a deathslinger and he aims then you dodge. You start losing speed and distance then be does this a couple more times and now he had caught up and m1'd. His zoning strength comes from the fear of being shot and the fact you have to guess.

    Pyramid Head:

Pyramid Head is short and sweet his zoning is far to powerful for how easy it is to do. Let's say you are running towards a vault and a PH is behind you, you vault he hits you with his range if you fake he hits you with his m1. The problem is there is zero delay after cancelling his punishment of the damn to m1. I have footage of this if you want proof. That's really it for PH

    Final:

One more thing before I go the usual answer for all of these is to rush gens but then gen rush is complained about kinda confused here but that's all for now. Until next time.

"Let's say you are running towards a vault and a PH is behind you, you vault he hits you with his range if you fake he hits you with his m1. The problem is there is"

The problem there is.... you should fake the vault, I did it last night and easily dodged a PH range attack like 4 times in one chase

    Plenty of counterplay to PH.

  • This is absolutely the best idea I have seen as a punishment for DCing, just let them.

    Clown is love.

You're certainly not wrong about there not being sweaty Killers, because there certainly are! Personally I think they should incorporate bots into custom matches so that way people don't have to search for friends in order to get a non-toxic game going, plus it would give new players a chance to practice without having to worry about competing.

I am glad though that the developers fully admitted that ranks don't matter (which begs the question, "why then bother with rank resets?"). The new MMR obviously won't get rid of toxicity, but hopefully it can keep the casual DBD community playing with each other, and keep the toxic hardcore red rank community where they belong.

"why then bother with rank resets?"

There's only one real reason for rank reset, it is to cause players to play more to re-reach the previous rank, it serves no purpose.

Majority of players wouldnt play as much if their rank carried over to next month.

One word could answer it though: shareholders

This would honestly be too strong. You can shut down basically every loop around 3 gens if you just start with them all and can carry them as you please. It would be beatable by a well coordinated team, but your average solo queue players would likely get destroyed by this kind of setup.

Gotcha, ok, it revolves around the 3 gen strat, I can understand that.

  • @CornHub said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470623#Comment_1470623

With just 5 traps, a trapper could easily close off alot of loops and possibly half the map depending. His traps are also the most lethal out of the other 2 trap killers. Imagine your on shelter woods a trapper could easily trap shack and 4 other loops all before you even have half a gen done. Also, preventing a 3 gen becomes significantly harder if a trapper spawns around a 3 gen.

I understand, but the counter debate is, while what you say is true, you forgot to mention Claudette urban evading behind him disarming those traps. He can only be in one place at a time, and while he is at one gen, you can be disarming at another?

I understand the retort, but it leaves out the fact his traps can be disarmed so is it because he becomes too powerful or do survivors run too much and cause him to be OP by their own mistakes? Because traps are not eternal, and it doesnt matter if he sets up 2 or 5 they can be disarmed by that sneaky little pest Dwight. Maybe Im just not thinking it through, I just dont see it the same, I also expect survivors to not play like idiots, because there is a difference between him being OP and survivor habits of running causing him to be OP

Because hed be able to lock down a whole area in about 30 seconds if he could do that. Hed have you 3 genned before you even knew where 3 gens were. 2 to 3 traps at base is sufficient without being oppressive

I guess but his traps can be disarmed. I admit I do not have the hours in trapper yet, I have p3ed almost all my other killers so I am now p3ing the ones I didn't play much, like Trapper, Pig, etc,... but I have enjoyed the games I have played with him recently and stacked about 50 cakes on him so despite having quite a few hours, my 4d understanding of trapper is indeed limited, but I am starting to like playing him more. I have lots of hours as Hag so thats why I want clarification on why he doesnt start with all traps. Thanks for response.

For balance reasons, if they did this I think the max capacity without a bag should be 2.

    Rank 1 Trapper main.

For balance? Sort of vague reason imo.

Has it been tested? What sort of imbalance does it create? He still has to set them up around the map, I just honestly do not see a reason for it in the current meta. I have never seen any legit reason for it and just started to p3 him and find it makes me want to run perks that stall the beginning of the game, whereas I never do that on other killers including Hag. I have played my hag to p3 in red ranks and just see it as awkward to have to run around map to get traps and then set them when hag starts out with all ten.

  • I don't know why but I got the urge to start playing Pig more over the last week. She was one of my neglected, not played, not even leveled past 50 killers, but I am now p3ing her and enjoying her more.

  • Can anyone even provide a valid reason for him to not start out with ALL his traps?

I'm referring to how it is perceived by many new players when they first buy the game. It is not seen as a hardcore game. There are several people who join this game thinking it is something it is not. This game is not marketed as a hardcore pvp game. We can get into semantics or you can just talk to new players. I know when I joined the game it was due to a link from a site promoting "party horror games to play with friends". Yeah, not exactly the right description for it.

I can understand that, but I dont really play easy games and never expected this to be easy. When I purchased this game, I was playing PUBG and Darkest Dungeon. I never expcted this to be some easy game, its sold as a 4v1 which by definition = competitive PVP. I was turned off heavily by the looting in PUBG, and liked that there was no looting and shooting in DbD,.... (before Huntress was added) having to loot every match was why I stopped playing PUBG and now have over 1700 hours in this game.

But I guess if people assume things it could be misinterpreted, but I always watch a streamer play a game before I buy them after I foudn twitch so theres no misleading idea of what the game is like

My main point of contention is with your statement that the problem is with the new generation of gamers. As I said in my post, I think the main problems are in game design and how the game is advertised. The game attracts horror fans and sells itself in many ways as a fun, jump-scare, almost casual party game but turns out to be a hardcore toxic fight-fest.

The problem is with the current generation of gamers that can't take a step back and say, hey, these guys I'm facing are obviously not too good, I'll take the foot off the pedal and try to have some fun here. There is zero, I mean zero, sportsmanship in this current generation of gamer. The old-school guys still remember what it was like to act like an oppressive arse while playing a game in front of another person. It often ended with a fat lip and no friends. They tend to play games with those lessons in mind. This current generation grew up behind a monitor and have no empathy or concept of casual gameplay.

Don't blame people for wanting a more laidback experience in a game that comes off as a fun jump-scare party game. This is not Call of Duty. If someone goes into Call of Duty expecting casual and fun gameplay, they are delusional.

Where is this game marketed as casual? I just looked over the steam page and it is sold as a "team based survival horror PVP game"

not one word about it being casual. Casual games are games like Golf With Friends, this game is not casual in any way or definition

A casual game is a video game targeted at a wide, mass market audience, as opposed to a hardcore game, which is a game targeted at a more niche audience of hobbyist gamers. Casual games may exhibit any type of gameplay and genre. They generally have simpler rules, shorter sessions, and less learned skill than hardcore games.[1]

    Compare to https://store.steampowered.com/tags/en/Casual/

    @Pryzm you are right

You totally missed the entire point of the post. New players who leave a game after they die too many times is the player, not the game.

Carebear mentality is not new in games, I mentioned PUBG because theres simply no way the likes of these defeatist attitude minded players could handle PVP games.

This is a PVP game, I treat it as such.

"I got killed too fast" is not part of my vocabulary.

  • While people may disagree, I started playing this game due to its simplicity.
