Ok thanks for confirming ^-^

As a skin for Oni more than anything.
(i haven't played For Honor in so long, but this is the guy with the kanabo right?)

Looking to get as many challenges done as possible to save extra BP, today I attempted to do the kicks with Oppression challenge in two matches. In both, the survivors grouped up on gens and I didn’t get any Oppression value.

That means it's working, and was obviously a good idea.
Any time you didn't see those balancing problems in the previous system, it's because you were very badly mismatched against newer or lesser skilled players- excepting for the occasional meme squad or fun player like you'd still see now. MMR didn't magically make people play sweaty; people who have played the game for a little while are gonna feel like harder opponents.
As for what's happening within the matches, see above. It being more frequent is, paradoxically, a good thing. Especially now that we know the meta shakeup is coming soon(ish).
Even if on paper it is a better system, in the current state of Dbd and the meta, and in the current state of SBMM, the game is (in my humble opinion) less enjoyable than before MMR was introduced. This does not mean that it cannot improve, which is something that I failed to consider, and I’m convinced that MMR feel a lot better once the meta improves. (in hindsight I regret what I chose as the title of this thread)
If you’re saying balance issues being more noticeable is good because they’re more likely to be fixed this way, that is true but it’s certainly not pleasant for the player to have to deal with these kinds of things on a match to match basis.
Side note- MMR didn’t turn people into sweaty players but they certainly become more and more common to see the more you win against less experienced players.

I find that the people who think MMR made the game worse, or just in general have disagreements with the system existing at all, invariably end up showing a fundamental misunderstanding either of what it currently does, or what it's meant to do.
I also don't quite understand the idea that this system is somehow more competitive than the old one. It asks less of you, and sorts into general, invisible brackets, instead of showing you both your own ranks and the amount by which you're climbing each match. Assuming that ranks functioned, which they didn't, they'd be an immensely more competitive matchmaker system, since there's... ranks, like, there's a ladder to climb.
It was obviously a good idea and, after I've looked into it a little, I feel confident saying that its basic concepts (IE, being win based) are also pretty obviously fine. It's made the game slightly better, and improvements to it will continue making the game better. Most of the bad experiences people have had with it are more of a balance thing, though, so improvements to the matchmaker probably won't be that obvious from the outside until the meta is in a healthier spot.
I agree that the main thing responsible for bad player experience is balancing, though even with that in mind, MMR has (at least in my experience) caused those balancing issues to be more prominent in my games and cause them to be much less enjoyable overall.
and when I said MMR was more competitive, I was trying to refer more towards what’s happening within the matches rather than the feedback the system gives to the player. I apologize if I caused a misunderstanding there.

I don’t see how MMR made it more competitive than rank based matchmaking? The only difference is how the rank is calculated and that there is no setting back each month, but the idea of MMR is actually to match those that are on the same skill level with each other instead of making super unfair matches that are already decided before they start.
rankbased matchmaking didn’t work and a new/different system was needed.
SBMM does need many improvements, some were already confirmed to come, others (like an indication how well the system worked for a match without giving definitive numbers) hopefully will still come.. also it shouldn’t be based solely on kills/escapes..
I think that was my fault for not using the correct word/just not really explaining myself correctly. My point was that because of how MMR is designed it’s going to become naturally more and more competitive as you get more wins. Facing opponents who bring better and better stuff and are better players is inevitable, as it should be. SBMM is more competitive because it actually tries to be a decent matchmaking system. The problem is that matching opponents based on skill doesn’t work for Dbd in particular right now both because of how many things in the game can give you an advantage without actually having to outplay your opponent, and because of how the game itself defines “skill”.

I mean, playing her isn't fun either

But how am I going to prove that I am the best Dead By Daylight player if I don't have 100k cakes stockpiled?
-
I understand why people complain, it’s boring to sit on the ground and do nothing.
However I don’t understand people being mad if I slug as, for example, Oni, when they are all grouped up.
-
I cannot seem to ever win as Doctor. Not that I enjoy him even when I do well.
-
If you really have that attitude then why the hell are you still playing
-
You’ll keep the perks you’ve already unlocked!
-
Lol
-
It’s not that I don’t like going against good players. It’s that people at high MMR will use map offerings, predrop and hold W, and use the same 4 perks because those are the safest strategies to not die.
-
Pop is probably his best slowdown perk, especially when combined with PR.
Overall Devour is probably my favorite perk on him. Haunted and MYC are great too. If you want something really wacky Iron Maiden will let you instantly teleport over to a survivor that gets out of a locker. Doesn’t happen often though.
-
MMR is flawed and even if it wasn’t it creates a situation where everyone brings the strongest stuff all the time instead of trying to keep it fresh, which makes matches incredibly frustrating but boring at the same time.
-
At least it’s not Springtrap

I cycle between anyone that's P3 50, excluding Spirit who I got there to prove a point. Everyone with any work put into them except Hag (who I'm working on currently) has every perk up to Sadako unlocked at T3, with Sadako herself having every perk in the game unlocked at T3.
I enjoy killer, which is why you see me give feedback on it far less, because solo survivor is an eternal hellscape that needs addressing alongside top-end killer gameplay.
Loving that icon for Legion
-
Bond for survivor because aura reading is all-important for solo
I’m All Ears for killer, specifically Blight, Pyramid Head, or Oni. Its helped me out so many times.
-
I'm having fun and doing well with him. "Too many buttons to press" Is something that you get used to after like 5 matches. Afterwards it is not complicated at all.
-
Isn’t nightfall 60 seconds? Just look at when the timer has 1/5 left.
-
I think how you’re supposed to use it is while chasing a survivor at night you quickly pop in and out of a locker and shut down the tile.

NOED, Dead Hard, and Nurse are fine. It’s SWF’s that need to get deleted.
This sure is an opinion
-
This will sound odd, but disrespect every pallet in the beginning of the match. If you play more cautiously, they’ll think that you’ll be easier to bully.
-
Don’t worry about wasting your frenzy, you’ll have it all the time.
Thana is good, Ruin is great. Also make sure to bodyblock windows and pallets (prioritize windows more) when you come out of frenzy.

Sol survivor is possible,
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2995728#Comment_2995728
POV: ur talking to a killer main that plays Survivor once every Blood Moon so the MMR on survivor is obviously a little different
It’s possible but I started late in the month and I had terrible luck with teammates :(
-
MYC is a great pick if you ever unlock it for her. I’d trade Merciless storm or Dissolution for Corrupt, and put on Pop or Ruin once you get it. You don’t have that much to work with right now though.

Enjoy him, Devs hate Killers being competent so they will nerf everything about him until no one plays him anymore.
But no worries, they'll buff him 4 years from now by making his Nightfall meter fill up a whopping 2% faster!
Thanks for the money, have fun!
"Devs hate killers being competent"
Laughs in Blight (yes I know they're nerfing hug tech but only because it's a bug)

Vision range is fine, however I'm not a fan of the darkness effects on the edges of the screen, I have to strain my eyes to see anything.
-
I'd love a squid killer, idk tho never seen the show so I'm not sure.
-
I did it once as Dredge, on swamp no less. Very funny to do because you drag the survivor into the locker so you can educate them about our lord and savior Dwight Fairfield.

How do you guys deal with the constant deafening screams during nightfall? He blinds himself too.
It's nice to have a killer without all the head bobbing, but damn they still find a way to make playing killer tiresome.
The screams aren’t really as bad as say, Plague’s whispers. And he doesn’t really blind himself, just makes the map monochrome. It’s not really so terrible for me.

Noooo, you must ignore all that and demand they slow him down and make him clunky and awful to play!
Just look at Artist. She is soooo popular, even though she does what Dredge does but even better.
This is the first killer in a long time that i don't get peeved when i lose while playing, and i figured out why! It's because he isn't clunky or annoying like nurses fatigue head shake, followed by helplessly walking after a survivor every 8 seconds. Or Deathslingers slow... everything.
If a survivor is annoying you you can just port away and instantly get in a chase with someone else instead of doing the agonising walk of shame while gens pop because it takes 20-25 seconds to cross a map.
I think that’s why I’m enjoying him as well. Everything feels smooth and seamless. He isn’t frustrating at all.

He's still an M1 killer who has to hit survivors twice. So he has to deal with the full effects of BT/DS/DH and anyone with BT can just run straight up and save in your face with nothing you can realistically do about it.
You can grab them off of hook

For your information it failed miserably and is considered an embarrassment in the gaming community
Oh, I know what Stadia is. I just don’t know why it exists.

Enjoy the bloodpoints! I got Iri 1 on killer and I tried to get it on solo survivor but I didn’t because… actually I should have just stopped at “solo survivor”.

Boring, worse Sprint Burst imo

Imagine Shadow Step and Iron Will up there, just a thought. Don’t do it though. That would be ridiculous.

But my Dead Hard didn’t save me, you know what that means Gann.

I think she shouldn’t be slowed down while manifesting, TV cooldown should be shorter, and that inserting tapes should take longer.
I’d also love if her TV’s would actually face generators
-
Yeah that’s true, and it’s what’s so painful about solo survivor. I’ve been playing it so I can get to a good rank for grade reset and it’s made me want to slam my head against a table.

Wdym? Sadako is literally the most Hold W killer in the game. She can't really use teleport in chases but dredge can. And dredge has anti-loop. Also... she really doesn't have stealth. A killer with tinkerer is more stealthy than sadako.
Ah, but what if I put tinkerer on Sadako!

I guess that's the base problem, you're fine with A tier, I'm not.
All I care about is viable and not viable, with viable meaning against an equally skilled top tier SWF group you have a fair chance at winning without just hard tunneling/noed plays. A tier in DBD does not fit viable by those standards, S tier does. S tier is the balanced tier aka viable and of which all killers should be balanced to.
Anything A tier and below needs varying degrees of buffs in my opinion.
In other words, solo queue players and anyone who isn’t playing in a top tier SEF with the strongest perks, addons, and map offerings can go screw themselves?
