People really over exaggerate with "only a few killers viable at rank 1" ,tbh.

    No.

  • Microtransactions to gain edge (which you would by just spending money to level your characters and not actually playing the game to do it) are atrocious.

@anarchy753 I personally find Ghost Face pretty good at red ranks and the fact that a majority of my games are 4Ks with no add-ons proves that he is playable at rank 1 with proper mind games and red glow tricks. Ghost Face is no nurse or spirit but he is definitely not bad. In terms of placement he is around high Mid tier or high tier. I consider him good against average red ranks, but if you're going up against a really good Survive with friends group the game isn't going to be easy.

Thing is that Ghost Face is still new and if DbD's history has shown anything, it's that Survivors are unwilling and slow to adapt to new stuff. It's been the same with Legion and Plague before, until Survivors started figuring out how to play against them. Legion and Plague have since become extremely rare occurrences in red ranks in comparison to Spirits, Nurses and Billies.

I think the same will happen to Ghost Face, his kit does not contain the tools that make the aforementioned Killers viable on red ranks.

Why would other survivors that do not have an obsession perk have a chance to be the obsession?

Because that is how the mechanic works.

And no, you also don't understand how the Map Offerings work, because they work the same as the Obsession mechanic.

Using any does NOT guarantee you that Realm. It vastly increases the chance, yes, but you can still end up in a different Realm. In my 2300 hours, I've had this happen at least half a dozen times.

You aren't being logical here, you just take your personal experience and project it as a given fact.

bond came on shrine around 21 times if I remember correctly, while certain DLC perks just a handful of times. I mean, u can call it "random" but at the end of the Day noone knows if its really random or not. Only the programmer behind the shrine knows.

There is literally an archive of each Shrine since its inception featured on the Wiki.

Bond appeared 12 times so far, not 21. The Perk that appeared the most so far is Calm Spirit with 16 occurrences.

  • I was wondering if you can play at red rank without some sort of tunneling/focus down some survivors. I would like to give out a challenge.

I've tried to avoid tunnelling for a long time last year. Eventually, I gave up trying to be nice as Survivors didn't give a damn. Give them a hand, they'll take the entire arm attached to it too.

Nowadays I play efficient, and doing that means getting rid of Survivors as quickly as possible to diminish their combined strength as early on in the game as possible and tunnelling is the best tool for that as there is simply not enough time to hook all Survivors one or two times before you go about sacrificing any of them.

It depends a bit on the Killer, but if I don't tunnel the ######### out of Survivors as Freddy, Wraith, Clown or Legion, I will get my ######### handed to me, and each time I digress from that and try giving them some lenience, I pay dearly for it, confirming my observation, that tunnelling is very efficient as a playstyle.

I know, Survivors don't consider it fun, and neither do I when I'm on the receiving end, but I don't scream bloody murder about it. I know it's efficient, so I accept it, albeit begrudgingly, as a tunnelled Survivor.

And honestly, Survivors show time and time again, that they don't care in the slightest about my fun as Killer, so why should I care about theirs? Correct, I shouldn't.

  • I like the Cowboy and the Scarecrow tops from the Bloodstained Sack DLC. From the new ones I only really like the Hallowed Blight Hammer and the pants with dead rabbits dangling from it.

That means that if you're the only DS user in a match you should be the obsession.

Increasing the chance doesn't mean that you're not gonna be the obsession most of the time,it actually means the opposite.

Its a bug,end of the story.

No, it isn't. You simply don't understand what "increases the chance" means, it's not a guarantee to be the Obsession.

Even if DS has a multiplier of 9999 and the multiplier for the other Survivors stays at 1, there is still a tiny, but possible chance, that any of those other Survivors might end up being the Obsession.

So you bought plague and legion but refuse to buy GF who is arguably better balanced than both of them?

    😂

I know this is just a weak attempt of yours to try and get a stab at me, but I'll humour you.

I bought Darkness Among Us for Jeff, not Legion. Incidentally, since his rework and playing him like I'd play Spirit, I quite enjoy playing as Legion and might consider making him my new main. Nevertheless, Legion was a disappointment and still is if you play him like, well, Legion.

I bought Demise of the Unfaithful because I very much enjoyed the PTB Plague and was very much looking forward to a new upper mid-tier Killer. Like many others, I got let down by the devs nerfing her in the spots that hurt her viability the most.

Ghost Face suffers from the same philosophy that made the devs create Legion and Plague: "fun" for Survivors (Legion) and a power that is in the control of Survivors (Plague).

You said arguably better balanced and I would like to emphasise the "arguably", which is why I do not support Ghost Face and probably never will. It's quite possible that I also won't support the Killer of the next Chapter, should the devs continue with their new philosophy.

It's possible that you'll ignore this since you have a personal problem with me, but I don't care too much. I mostly typed this up for anyone else that would be interested in my actual reasoning for not supporting Ghost Face.

  • Exhaustion no longer recovers when running because it should not be a thing that those Perks activate twice in a single chase or even more in the absolute worst case scenario. You'd re-enable that with your Vigil suggestion.

    My answer is: no.

  • Not any more. Ghost Face is the first DLC I did not buy and will not buy.

Oh, it was abused? didn't know, k thx.

    how can laughing be abused?!

You stroke it through, but I'll still answer it: LOL basically replaced the by then (for the first time) removed vote down, in regards to what it meant.

Read Clyde's reasoning again and you'll know why there is no longer a LOL button and why there won't be any ever again.

  • For the sake of keeping both us old Freddy mains happy and those that look forward to new Freddy, I suggested that the devs give him two equip-able powers, the old one and the new one, so that we could choose.

  • @George_Soros said:

Jesus. Was a perfect tool for expressing disagreement, without going into details. Some discussions can actually benefit from less arguing, just some silent ayes and nays, especially the ones about simple statements.

Congrats to whoever abused it enough to be banned :/

Well, as was pointed out, it had happened before already. It was just a matter of time.

  • Well, we told you guys that that would happen again. There's a reason people can't have nice things any more.

I do welcome the change though.

  • Well, it's not like we told them so.

  • Barbecue and Chilli was created precisely for this purpose, but guess what? Survivors didn't like Killers being rewarded to leave the Hook, so they got it watered down enough for Killers now often not getting any Aura-reading, which they often have to equate with someone sneaking around the freshly hooked Survivor.

  • I made this suggestion, which would give Freddy players the choice to play him with his old or his new power.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/72554/two-powers-freddy

  • My brother and I roleplay: Ace (me) is constantly on the look-out for good-looking ladies (or guys if he wears the leopard shirt) and Dwight (him) is always looking for another truck driver he can murder and steal the pants off (my brother wears Dwight's prestige skins, except for the pants, which look like they came off a truck driver. The rest figures).

  • Freddy currently has the best stall power and he has the highest skill cap around. This rework is nerfing his stall power.

    @Tsulan said:

I just wanted some QoL changes. Shorter transition, ability to interact with survivors that hold m1, no cooldown between 2 transitions and addons that change the requirements to wake up (hit a skill check, hit a great skill) although the last one might be a little to strong. Maybe test first...

My thoughts as well. I'm dreading the rework and losing my main.

I suggested a new concept for him because of this, giving us players the choice of playing him with his old power or with his new power: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/72554/two-powers-freddy

That way everyone would be happy.

  • @ClogWench said:

He's not even out yet, it's way too soon to act like he's being nerfed.

We've been through this already. That excuse does not work anymore.

  • I've been digging through the DbD file change tracker. The devs indeed removed some modifiers from the older "Mangled" Add-ons. The 3.0.1 Patch is tagged with "cleanup, fixes", so that might be part of some upcoming changes to the Chainsaw Add-ons.

  • @tehshadowman33 If you're already copying stuff you found on the Wiki, at least do it properly. The climb mechanic has nothing to do with trees and the Smasher could never be found in the game files, the devs simply told us of him.

  • The Nurse is on the list for an Add-on pass and that is sufficient.

The Nurse is alright, it's her Add-ons that can make her nigh-impossible to counter unless you're a very skilled Survivors (which let's be honest, most Survivors these days aren't with their reliance on second chances).

That's only if you assume it's this or nothing.

They just need to reduce the grind in general. There are lots of ways to do that without ADDING frustration to the system. For example, the average bloodweb at level 50+ costs me 50K blood points. There would be absolutely no downside if that number was lowered to 35K. Lots of little changes like that would add up to be a massive grind improvement without forcing people to play games where they won't have fun. Which frankly makes me just want to face camp to get it over as fast as possible tbh.

I'm gonna be honest with you, I don't see this adding any frustration. I think people can be expected to use a Perk to level it up.

Other than that, I know there are other ideas around and other ways to change the grind, but this is not the thread to discuss those, those can be discussed in separate threads.

    @weirdkid5 said:

All they need to really do is get rid of Tier 1 and Tier 2 perks. There's honestly no reason for it anymore.

As Orion pointed out, there is. There aren't enough Perks around to get rid of Tier 1 and 2 altogether.

Typical killer mains supporting extra loud survivors and an almost free M&A

Why do Survivor mains have to exaggerate everything Killers request?

It's about restoring the volume levels to how they used to be a long time ago, when they weren't broken.

    • The chase music is supposed to be loud, just not to an extent that it drowns out all other noises.
    • Survivors are supposed to make noise that the Killer can hear, just not in excess or none at all.
    • The background music is supposed to play constantly to add to the game's atmosphere, just not to an extent that it drowns out Survivor noises or is nearly silent.

Stop jumping to extremes, it just makes you look silly and quite salty.

  • Jed Olsen is the journalist alter ego of Danny Johnson.

  • Let's see:

    • Blood Hunt from 14 - 18 June: check
    • Ghost Face release, a Killer-only Chapter, on 18 June: check
    • Anniversary Offering boosting Bloodpoints from 18 June - 2 July: check
    • New matchmaking making Killers wait for a lobby to then wait again for the Survivors to join that lobby: check

Totally the fault of Killers playing dirty, even though Survivors did that for the past 3 years.

Honestly I find the idea horrible for completionists as well. In the current system I can at least play the way I want and still achieve my goal of getting all Perks Tier III on all my characters at some point. With the perk challenges, I might have to play matches I don't really want to play or won't enjoy. And that not even once. I would have to repeat that with each character. I don't think that it solves the issue, how grindy and unpleasant it is. It makes it easier to get the build you want by giving more choice. That's true and some challenges might be fun. But it also comes with another big frustration potential.

While I see your point, I still think the benefits outweigh the potential frustrations.

  • @Redd said:

I would absolutely hate grinding 40+ perks worth of challenges on each killer. @Peanits This would not make the grind better for people like me who want to get every perk maxed out on everyone I play. It would still be an atrocious grind, with some extra unique pain thrown in on some of the killers I only like to play occasionally (aka not 100+ games in a row).

Not everyone can be pleased, that's unfortunately how it is. As you can see, the majority of people who came into this thread like the idea.

  • Safe Unhooks were removed from the PTB because it was too easy to gain the necessary stacks.

  • @Gcarrara said:

This is an original concept that could expand DBD as we know it, not only for Freddy but for Killers in general. I like it. But it's definitely something that requires a good amount of work!

It could also set a precedent for upcoming reworks, in cases of a divide in the community, where one side prefers to play a Killer's old Power and the other side would prefer to play a Killer's new Power.

I'm specifically mentioning a divide, because I don't think that every rework would need to result in a Killer with an old and a new Power to choose from, but in cases of a divide, it would be the best way to please both sides.

  • @ASpazNamedSteve said:

You know they would never do this.

    One can hope against hope.

  • He's not faster, but there are two reasons why he feels like it.

Reason 1: he is short, short Killers always look like they walk faster than their tall colleagues.

Reason 2: he has a unique running animation during a chase, almost like Legion's Frenzy.

If a Killer feels faster, it's just an illusion. Other examples are the Clown and the Trapper, mainly because both use a walk animation instead of a run animation like other Killers. That too makes it seem like they're faster.

  • @Mat_Sella said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/552222#Comment_552222

it was not fine the way it was on both sides. Actually, nearly everyone(both survivor and killer) was complaining that it was too loud. You could not hear the hatch, nor most survivor noises over the TR music. So, as a proper choice, they then made it quiet. Now that it's quiet, the other people are now complaining that they can't hear it (which, by the way, you don't need the music to determine killer distance, as the heartbeat, which can still definitely be heard, is as good of an indicator, without blaring in your ears)

That's not quite correct. The complaints about the music being too loud stems from a #########-up when the Legion released, which increased the volume to levels that sometimes hurt. Now the music is way too soft, barely audible even, which also isn't the intended state. What I and others want is for the music to be back to the audible (but not ear-piercing) levels from before Legion.

  • Well, maybe you shouldn't buy a Character for their Perks, but rather for the Character as such. Perks are subject to changes and Mettle of Man had it coming, experienced players predicted the problems it would cause even before it was released.

  • @Rizzo said:

There are issues in doing that.

Sound in general is something that can give a huge advantage to both sides and it's something to balance around.

In a different game, you don't have issues like that, but in Dbd, sound is a pretty delicate thing.

That's correct, especially since the game heavily relies on sound cues. However, in turn, that should mean that any sound issues, of which we have plenty, should be top priority for fixes.

  • Get your facts straight. That's just false.

  • It's been 16 seconds since the game released, there was never a change to that.

Oh my, it's actually hilarious that you think I turned my camera away from him intentionally.

I was reading chat at the time, having a conversation while playing, sorry that you think everyone who plays on twitch is faking stuff, you can see me stand off the generator because I ALT+TAB out of the game, lmao.

Always the same pathetic mentality on this forum "Hate on anyone that streams the game".

Convenient excuses, but whatever, I made my point.

  • "Next time" he says, yet changed the camera from observing his surroundings to facing towards the combine harvester as soon as Ghost Face's bright red cloth trails are spotted stalking the other Survivor, conveniently blocking Ghost Face from view to then act all surprised when he stands next to you.

Why people enjoy being lied to for entertainment is beyond me.

@Orion Survivors will learn quickly. And when somebody makes severe mistakes, then they are going to lose. That's just how every game goes.

Games need to be balanced around good plays, not around one team making big mistakes.

A 2nd objective for survivors would also not only help with balance, it would also bring a new impulse to the game. ^^

    Learn quickly / Survivors.

    Pick one.

  • @wisdom said:

2 of the 4ghostface changes are for consistency within the game

pallet stuns should break him out of stealth. It has nothing to do with power level and everything’s to do with him own killer powers interact with pallets (see legion, plague, and wraith)

the stalking marked survivors to indefinitely expose them isn’t not going to affect ghostface she gameplay, at all.

the stalk addon nerfs. Maybe they are justified? Maybe they aren’t. I will not comment on that.

and the extra vision for the center of the camera isn’t to help prevent ghostface from simply side stepping to reset survivor vision on him.

these gems are less about balance and about about more about how the killer is supposed to feel

I disagree with the exception of the Pallet stun for consistency's sake.

It's also less about the nerfs as such, but more about the message they are sending.
