To be honest, I don't find Spirit fun not because she's strong, but because her power essentially demands the survivor to flip a coin and if they call it wrong, they get hit. There's not really any meaningful interaction there for me.

Granted, with sounds being bugged as they are, it's not quite like that right now, but it is essentially what it boils down to.

I'd rather face a Nurse than a Spirit any day. At least when a Nurse misses I know it was usually because I did something to make her miss.

Please keep in mind that this goes right back at you: Phase Walking demands that the Spirit too flips a coin and if she calls it wrong, she loses the chance to hit the Survivor she's going after. She is all about the mindgame, which I consider the fun part of her power, both when versing her as Survivor or playing her myself.

  • Add-on pass and rework are two different things.

  • What I learnt since his rework:

Play him as Legion (sounds paradox, I know): you'll lose against competent Survivors.

Play him as Spirit: you'll do good if you're a successful Spirit main.

@DocOctober They have received a ton of criticism lately, for sure. I haven't agreed with many decisions they've made either. I've posted my inconformity in a civilized manner and I've already voted with my wallet about some of those decisions.

You said it right, it will take some effort to fully regain the trust of their community veterans.

What I'm just saying is there's no need to get personal or rude with them. It shows a lack of maturity from many forum members, and it only guarantees that whatever is being said just gets discarded and ignored as a childish rant.

As I said, I too am against personal attacks, but considering how Feedback got ignored in general, constructive or not, I get why people turn to the less civil version of it out of frustration.

  • Unlike the conclusion eager Survivor mains such as you like to jump to, the Nurse herself does not get any nerf or rework. She gets an Add-on pass and that's it.

Survivors had nearly 3 years to git gud against her, if some still didn't then too bad for them.

And please, do everyone a favour and stop using the overused pallets argument, it's almost embarrassing at this point. Pro tip for you: don't try to use pallets against her.

  • It's better than running no Add-ons.

I keep switching characters and sometimes use some to level others, so it's not possible for me to sustain higher rarity Add-ons for each trial.

  • With their actions the past half year, they deserve being bashed as long as it's not a personal insult. They've had it coming. Their stream yesterday was refreshingly open and transparent again, maybe it's a sign that they're rethinking how they treated their community lately. However, they've done so much bad that it'll take a lot of time and effort for them to regain the trust and civility of their community veterans.

  • Mettle of Man no longer requires any prequisites to activate however it's effects are completely changed, any hit that would bring you from the healthy state to the dying state now only brings you to the injured state.

You'll be delighted to hear that that won't be the new MoM. The devs announced further changes yesterday that will come with the release of 3.0.0.

You'll have to be injured again and safe unhooks do not grant Tokens.

  • I don't give a damn about the devs and their stats. Everyone who isn't completely biased can see the balance flaws this game has in regards to Survivors and how it also screws over solo Survivors, not just the Killer.

Because Survivor mains would start screaming if they could not log in a 4-man SWF group and literally bully the Killers before waltzing off the map while ######### the dirt with crouch-spam.

Just wait; someday the devs will give the Survivors extra BP just for playing Survivor, probably out of the Killer's current BP balance. Steal +3000 BP for each Survivor who makes it off the map. +2000 if they are sacrificed. And the Killer's temp-banned if he does not have enough BP to steal, because Survivors DESERVE that BP.

True, but the problem is that stats already showed that it actually benefits the game to have strong Killers. Survivors lost their ######### when Curtain Call released, but the game was never healthier than during 2.0.0 and 2.1.0. I hate that the devs ignore those stats and also those that show that the game was never unhealthier than when Survivors dominated.

  • She is in experienced hands, but to assume that Ghost Face would rise to the same level should the devs listen to feedback is way too optimistic. They've not listened for such a long time again that I lost all hope for anything regarding a healthy, balanced game. Them saying that they care on the recent dev stream felt like a lie.

  • Why?? Literally one if the very few techs for survivors which are separating a noob from a good player got removed?

Why was it removed? Because it was abused too often, it's as simple as that. Survivors like you are the reason we others can't have nice things.

So, what, you think Freddy should just get endless free generator grabs & free hits with it? That's pretty obviously not what it's intended for.

And pretty obviously not what I'm asking for either, but I'm not surprised you jumped to that conclusion.

Toning the penalties down would help.

But personally, I'd prefer to keep Freddy as he currently is and give him some QoL changes.

We shall not speak of those atrocities. Poor Sally...

Why you talking so much ######### when you havent even fully seen how the killer is going to be played or what are the numbers for each action. Have you seen full gameplay of the killer to assume its bad? Or are you just jumping to conclusions from just seeing a sneak peek?

The perk is made to help the killer traverse through the map faster not to grab survivors off generators

First off, it's a power, not a Perk. Secondly, I'm a veteran player, I have more than enough experience to deduce a Killer's potential by now, especially since we have similar mechanics in other Killers already present in the game.

No, we got "leaked" info from "a" dev build. That build could have been the first iteration of testing.

We. Do. Not. Know. 100%. What. He. Plays. Like. Because. HES NOT OUT.

We know more than enough and as has been shown just now, we were right with most of the stuff. Barely anything has changed since the leak.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/65629/generator-teleport

its not meant to get an instant down or even an instant hit , it is meant to get you close to where you think the survivors are and then chase them

It takes 5 seconds to teleport and since Survivors are warned already while charging the power, they can gain a big head start before you're able to chase them. Depending on the location of the gen, they can break line of sight before it's ever established.

That power won't help him mid-chase as far as I'm concerned, and unless they address gen rush, they just took away his greatest skill: slowing the game down.

As a Freddy main, he's on his death bed with that rework.

  • @LastShoe said:

@Daniel101773 Don't forget that its also a stealthy killer, so he can approach survivors for a one free hit...

Yeah because weve seen and heard exactly how he works. /s

It may be a super fast stalk.

    It may cause other effects.

Just because its "stalking" doesnt mean it's exactly like Meyers.

Wait until the info comes out, and hes been played for a week or two.

We did see and hear exactly how he works. All the information was leaked already.

Naturally I can't confirm anything that has not been announced, so I cannot say whether or not a full blown chapter is coming soon.

Please let your colleagues know that it would be appreciated if you'd stick to the established terminology of Chapter vs. Paragraph.

  • Your idea was crap on the Steam forums and it is crap here. Git gud, stop relying on pallets against a Nurse and learn how to juke her, like an actually good Survivor would.

  • I'm not impressed by artificially inflated stats thanks to a free week-end.

When the game was mostly balanced during 2.0.0/2.1.0, we managed 50k players without that, the highest it's been disregarding free week-ends, but I guess the devs don't want to acknowledge that.

  • @Entità said:

@DocOctober It's very curious that you fear survivors would be too strong with a 5th perk, while @thesuicidefox is sure a killer with 3 add-ons would be unrelenting. Maybe the truth is in the middle: both sides earn power and a new balance appears... 5 perks vs 3 add-ons: I'd like to test it, it's amazing!

    @MJ_Out Read above, please.

Survivor Perks outweigh most Killer Add-ons, especially second chance Perks do. That's a fact, so of course I'm more concerned about facing 20 Perks as Killer.

  • Since Survivors do not have to rely on Add-ons, they could always run a fifth Perk slot, yet Killers who are dependent on using Add-ons these days couldn't.

20 Perks against 4? Yet another second chance Perk in the meta?

    Absolutely no thanks.

  • Do not use a fake Wiki entry modification to push your agenda. That's just low.

  • I've been playing SWF with @Orion a couple of times lately. We're old-school Survivors, relying on our juking and stealth skills to lose the Killer and I would consider ourselves a casual SWF when we play; we do not strive to win every trial, no matter what it takes. However, even as a casual SWF, playing in SWF and chatting with one another gives us a big advantage over the Solos. We both know who the Killer is as soon as one of us spots them. We know where the Killer is for a good part of the game, if just one of us remains somewhat close to them or sees them across the Map. If I get my stacks of Aftercare, Orion'll know the whereabouts of the other Survivors too, but without having to run the Perk himself. If one of us is injured, we know where the other one is to go for a heal. We can time completing the last gen with the other waiting at the Exit Gate switch, we can coordinate rescue attempts, etc., etc.

Yes, some of the information can be obtained as randoms with the help of Perks, but that's exactly the point: SWF do not need those Perks and can instead run other, stronger ones. And let's not forget all the information one can provide to their SWF buddies if they are dead: there is no Perk for the spectator mode and the amount of information you can relay over this is immensely advantageous as you can switch between multiple direct POVs.

Of course, if we'd play without chatting, all that wouldn't be possible and we'd just be like a bunch of randoms that happened to join in the same lobby, but then we'd ignore the reality of things: most SWF play in voice chats and do get those advantages.

The difference I see between casual and tryhards, is how much those advantages are taken advantage off, however, even as casual SWFs, we're quite a bit stronger than complete randoms and already noticeably diminish the Killer's chances at winning the trial (winning here being getting as many sacrifices as possible).

Freddy is in a terrible state, but Freddy mains have put so much time into the killer that they no longer see his flaws and shortcoming for what they are. He's functioning in ways that go against what would be proper game design for every other killer. He's got a very strong gimmick that can cripple game progress for survivors, but he actually can't play the game without his power. That is something he shares with the nurse except in her case while she'll never be viable without her power; Nurse will still be able to at great expense still hit and potentially down you without her power. Freddy can not do the basic gameplay at all. He can't pull off gens, pull off hooks, do basic attacks or body blocks without having someone asleep beforehand. Putting people to sleep isn't instant so there is a period of time where freddy can't even be considered in a chase.

He can't interact with the game, but can be stunned and blinded by survivors who are awake. That's a huge downside freddy mains are playing through which is respectable as hell. Yet, he has no reason to function like that. That is poor killer design. A killer should be able to take all the universal actions freely. I understand putting time into something and thinking it is great when by the design of the game it isn't. I know it feels bad to have it change when you've gotten strong despite the adversity, I also know when something needs to change for the greater good too. Freddy gotta get fixed.

Quality of Life changes would fix him already. A full on rework will likely break him for mains, just so that the noobish casuals can have fun in low ranks. That's why I'm 100% against the rework.

I did and you were wrong. I didn't want to embarrass you by calling you out in particular.

    https://youtu.be/GI0NOK6jrts?t=3560

I'm aware of this crap. It's another instance of them making stuff up on the spot, because they are unprepared for to give a proper answer. It's not the first and likely not the last time they contradict themselves.

Survivors do not become Killers. Killers do not become Survivors. That's how it's originally been and throughout most of the game's life with the Lore we had.

  • @Vlieger said:

They have the luxury with Freddy that he is in such a terrible spot there's almost nowhere to go but up. Even if the rework moves him to a mid tier killer I will be happy.

Question is.... who will be the new king/queen of the "Worst Killer" title?

@Shad03 Popcorn? Cold Dirt? Sounds like a party.

The problem is that he actually isn't in a terrible state, it simply took Freddy mains a long time to figure this out. Freddy is a very viable Killer in capable hands, something many do not realise as they never invested enough time into him.

I and many other Freddy mains dread the rework as we are convinced that the devs will ######### him up for us.

  • Some of the games I've played lately have had some pretty disgusting deadzones, like I'm talking a good 1/4 of the map is just tree with maybe a hill beside it..

Well, don't venture into them then.

    Map awareness isn't rocket science.

  • @Peanits said:

This is the first I'm hearing of this and I feel like it would have come up sooner had it changed, but if you could grab screenshots, that would be great.

Just to check, are you maybe thinking of the Overcharge skill check with Unnerving Presence? It's pretty common for killers to run both together, which would make the skill check pretty tiny. If you're not running it, it should be about the same as before.

It isn't. The pure unaltered Overcharge Skill Check has increased in size with a recent update.

It probably hasn't been brought up sooner because Overcharge is not used that often anymore.

  • @Snikers said:

If I remember correctly, in the lore stream they said that it would be possible for survivors to become killers and vice versa. I don't think they specified it would require a loss of hope in either case, just that it could happen. That said, they didn't get into much detail and didn't seem to consider it anything other than a hypothetical possibility.

Did you read the previous answers? The devs said no.

  • @ShyN3ko

You weren't obligated to farm with them though.

  • And because neither of them is bad given competent hands.

Freddy is a strong Killer if you learn to work around his weakness and maximise his strengths.

Legion is bad if you play him like, well, Legion. However, as a Spirit main, once I started playing him like I'd play her, he became quite viable.

Nevertheless, I still consider the Legion rework a big ######### up, because I'm of the opinion that a rework should make a Killer valuable with their intended playstyle, not with that of another Killer. That's also the reason I'm dreading the Freddy rework.

no because ghostface would be added to ash, then ash + ghostface = complete chapter, the map would be missing, however, perhaps with ghostface they release a variant of some map, as they did with leatherface

Ghostface has a Chapter code name (Oman). Ash does not, they do not belong together.

Actually, Ash, if anything, would belong somewhat to Chapter XI, as his file is prefixed as MS2 (Mali Survivor 2). Jane is MS (Mali Survivor) and Plague is MK (Mali Killer).

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/476766#Comment_476766

    a) We have not confirmed anything. Nobody from BHVR is able to comment on any potential leaks. If someone did confirm it, they likely aren't actually from BHVR.

    b) Chapter can refer to a single character as well.

Could we ask BHVR to stick to established terminology?

Bill was a Paragraph, Leatherface was as well. Paragraph = 1 character; Chapter = 2 characters.

I still don't understand why Ash was called a Chapter all of a sudden. The inconsistency is annoying and confusing.

  • I bought Ash for several reasons, but not for his Perks. I don't use MoM.

  • @Peanits said:

I was also told many times that we wouldn't be changing Mettle of Man, but we're currently working on changing that as well. We're not here to twiddle our mustaches and laugh nefariously, we are actually taking feedback and trying our best to make good changes.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/480061#Comment_480061

One of the biggest differences is the amount of counterplay those perks you listed have. When a perk is passive, it's okay for it to be hard countered by another perk. You gain a benefit and a perk on the other side takes it away. To use Spies from the Shadows and Calm Spirit as an example, the killer gains information on all survivors, and that particular survivor counters it with Calm Spirit. Neither side is earning the benefits, they're always active all the time. It's like a game of rock paper scissors.

When you have a perk that has a requirement, that's when it starts to get a bit more tricky. To go back to the decisive strike example, it's already pretty situational and very easy for the killer to play around it and avoid it completely. Having a perk hard counter it on top of that would be overkill.

That's not the point. Unless you wanted to actively drive Killers away from the game with letting current MoM become meta, it was clear that sooner or later, you'd have to change it. The point with the MoM hate you guys get is that it shouldn't have been implemented in that form in the first place and that even though the majority saw its flawed design from the second it was leaked, you still thought that it might be possible for it not to become the trouble it's currently starting to do, and waited for Feedback we already gave en masse.

Also, considering how the Hatch took you 1 year and DS 2+ years to get fixed, you saying that you are fixing it doesn't have a lot of value at the moment, especially considering how everyone and their mother will now try to get broken MoM and use it before it gets changed, thanks to the announcement.

All end game perks are pretty much useless now.

    Remember Me, Blood Warden, etc.

Blood Warden useless in EGC? Oh boy. If timed correctly, it will outlast the remainder of the EGC timer, killing all remaining Survivors.

@DocOctober Considering that you can easily compare eating habits of the humans and the octopuses, i don't see the reason why you couldn't do the same with humans and an immortal entity with and unknown limitation of power that can create its own reality and enslave even ghosts of the dead.

The Entity is not just a simple creature, it is much more than that.

Though unless the devs add any Lore in this regard, arguing any further is pointless.

@DocOctober But look at this that way: People are often more like things as they eat them more frequently... that, or they are getting extremally bored with this... so if you look at entity never being fussy for the hope, she must definitely prefer this over other things... just like various trolls prefer different ways of trolling.

I'll disregard the trolling insinuation, and I wouldn't go as far as comparing the Entity to regular people and their eating habits. That's not just stretching it to the extreme, but way beyond actually.

  • @LastShoe said:

@DocOctober Are you sure that hope isn't the most nutritious? Survivors have even a perk called Hope after all... well, maybe affection is even better and hope sometimes is boring for her due to the fact, entity always have this as a main dish.

From what the devs revealed throughout their streams, all strong emotions are the same in terms of sustenance for the Entity.

  • @LastShoe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/474041#Comment_474041

Well, actually you should feel a hope that you can still escape (the most nutritious meal for the entity)

You had time for that all throughout the trial. Consider EGC the Entity's way of getting an amuse-bouche before it's diner time.

Joking aside, the Entity feeds off of all strong emotions, hope isn't more nutritious than other emotions, it's simply easy to induce with how the trials are set up.

  • @Starlobster4 said:

@ExpectTheW0rst I agree, its a good concept but totally unfair if you are a last man and the killer finds the hatch first which is 9/10 guaranteed. At this point unless you are extremely unlucky then killer has 99.99% chance of killing you as you are forced to go to an exit, revealing yourself and all the killer has to do is camp exits

You're a puny little Survivor going up against an Entity-empowered killing machine (at least that's how it's supposed to be). Feeling helpless in the eyes of inevitable doom is exactly how you're supposed to feel in that situation.
