Honestly, the only fun exhaustion perk is Head on. And that perk gets you killed 1/2 the time, so it really is a mood.
I hate sprint burst. Lithe forces me to run away from loops 1/2 the time, which sucks (although this perk is a lot of fun and I do run it often, I'm not a huge fan of this style of gameplay anymore). Smash hit and the Jonas one are mediocre and not really fun at all.
Balance landing is so situational and map dependent that I'll never run it outside of challenges.
So all that's left is DH. If the devs made exhaustion perks that felt better to use, it would be easier to move away from it.
Exhaustion perks having conditional activation is the only thing that balances them. Otherwise it's just completely free chase time. Sprint Burst is the closest to being on command, but you have to manage it carefully unlike DH.

It's obvious that camping is a good strategy (if you disagree I will assert you have 0 hours as killer which magically makes it true).
Basement Bubba is really a blessing for 3/4 survivors as it allows them to pop gens and leave without any risk. 3/4 survivors + the killer = 4/5 players having a good time, which means objectively that basement bubba is 80% good, 20% bad. Most strategies wish for that kind of success rate.

I had a Bubba face camp me yesterday. Team got me off the hook. We all escaped. Players are finding strategies to combat face camping and I'm loving it.
Sad that most survivors feel so entitled to escapes that they can't contrive new strategies such as you do. Sad!
Personally as someone who has all survivor adept achievements, I haven't been scared of a Bubba ever since I got to 100% pallet stun effectiveness against his power.

Yes the forums are 'killer sided' that's why every thread about BM is full of people explaining how teabagging and flashlight macros are actually galaxy-brain mindgames and super strategic.
-
Probably they only mentioned the novel in marketing so that Kadokawa could see some profit from it as well as the film

I don't think it's fine. Just like how CoH counters M1 killers.
I know. I meant it ironically, since the idea is so silly.

there will be nerfs (NO COUNTERPLAY threads are already incoming)

It says, and I quote, "From the original story". People took that to mean the books when it meaning "not the American one" is also just as valid.
Not really. The book obviously came first and has a different story from the movie. Strictly speaking 'original story' should refer to it. Not that I really have such a strong commitment to the novel version, but they were weirdly ambiguous about it when they seem to only be adapting the movie specifically.
-
It's a new psychological horror direction (horrific for the killer)

Yeah, I am just so confused. Is there a sequel or something where Yoichi is older? Everyone is acting like it is normal and I am lost. But I only watched the original. So my knowledge is a bit paltry.
No, I believe he is only significant in the Ring 2 Japanese film (which ignores the second book entirely), but in that he is still a child.

@ThiccBudhha said:
Is Yoichi an adult in the book?
In the book, the protagonist has a daughter not a son lol.

Are they? Sadako definitely seems to be a kid (and also they aged up the homie for whatever reason), which is rad. I want a little girl to disgrace survivor mains. This is what we needed.
You can already disgrace them in a schoolgirl outfit with Spirit. Sadako is 19, they just made her really small in stature. They aged up Yoichi because they couldn't attain likeness rights is what is being said, which is funny. If they'd just used the protagonist from the book, they could have made him look however they want.
-
A Shizuko skin would be far cooler. A Samara skin would hardly even be distinguishable
-
Yeah I figure they thought the intersex (and sexual assault, not sure if the r-word is permitted here) elements would be too odd or too far for the game or something. They usually shy from sexual violence after all. They always said it was 'based on books and movies' both, but they are certainly leaning way further towards the movie.
Actually after looking at the wiki page, I can't see a single element that would actually be from the books specifically, but perhaps I'm missing something.

We have Victor? He is baby.
BHVR is quoted saying they don't want anyone calling him a baby (even though a dev said 'kick the baby' on stream)
-
Samara is actually underage (remember the people who refuse to look up Ringu and scream SADAKO UNDERAGE every thread about her) so she won't be in. BHVR is clear about not having any such characters.
-
Boon defenders are blockheads. The concept IS fundamentally flawed, they should be removed, and the playerbase will continue to shrink every day they delude themselves about CoH being ok.
-
More cosmetics for Feng. More cosmetics for Feng. More cosmetics for Feng.
OMG shirtless David and Felix so hot LMAO wait exposed midriff DISGUSTING horny OP.
More cosmetics for Feng. More cosmetics for Feng. More cosmetics for Feng.
Umm excuse me sweaty but [insert adult character name] is actually UNDERAGE??!!111
Cosmetic discussions in a nutshell.

It wasn't that. It's that survivors now have more info on you than you do on them, because Spirit has directional sound and Iron Will trumps Stridor.
Sound based killer being hard countered by a single perk is fine (BHVR can't be bothered to change Iron Will)

My friend BNgeniusHzgamma. He only played the game for Spirit. Couldn't stop talking about her. Now that she's nerfed, he kinda doesn't feel like playing anymore.
Without gen grabs, what's the point of going on
-
I would rather have no maps than more of Eyrie's ultra-survivor sided nonsense.
-
CoH needs to be removed, lmao. It's bad from conception, no numbers change will ever matter.
-
They don't want to give Yui good cosmetics

I asked Mandy this very same question and got no response.
It would be logically easier to deal with one perk that is already causing a nightmare in this game than it is to try to recode multiple killer powers. This move does not make any sense from either a workload perspective or a game design perspective. Dead Hard is a poison in this game and I have no idea why such efforts are made to defend it.
"We're reworking Dead Hard" = survivors leaving = less cosmetic sales.
-
Can't wait to see her anti-loop power!!
-
Weird that Mandy contradicted herself. In this thread she said abusive messages are bad in post game, whereas before she said it was 'just a part of any online game'. Instead of gaslighting and denying that anything toxic exists, a rather repulsive farce, they should openly state that they don't care enough to moderate the behavior (or find it too difficult) and simply judged that the players they lose from people who don't like being taunted and insulted are acceptable losses. Like any business, they only care about profit; if people had been paying every time they facecamped Claudette with the mask, you can be sure it would never have been removed.
-
If it were just because he's good at camping, his pick rate would've obviously always been so high. The reality is that poor decisions on BHVR's part have made it so people feel forced to camp to win, and Bubba is the obvious pick.
-
We all know Dead Hard will never be nerfed no matter what they tease in QnA sessions... after all, 80% of all survivors are using it every match. If it's made fair (i.e. completely changed), how many of them will never buy a Feng skin again?! You understand why the idea has BHVR trembling in fear.
-
Just because the map is average in size compared to other maps, doesn't mean it still can't be called large. Because it might be the case that the average is still in fact too large in absolute terms, given the game mechanics. And this is actually the case - medium-sized maps in this game are already too large, even before we get to monstrosities like Mother's Dwelling.
But in any case yes it is the tile layout packed like canned sardines that makes it feel even larger.
-
It'll be a stronger map for survivors
-
Interesting how there's nothing even close to the dominance that DH has for survivors, almost like it's a busted perk with no equivalents on killer side.
-
Interesting that there's been no mod posts since the issue was 'fixed'
-
Very cool that they stopped posting in here as soon as it become clear their big fix didn't fix much at all. Personally I got mine, but it's obvious many still are waiting.
-
The icon in the store hasn't been changed to match though, lol

Why don't we just give the killer an insta kill button too?
There is one, the Mori.
-
Rebecca or gtfo
-
If they shadownerfed Spirit, they will suffer accordingly (negative posts on social media)
-
Best way to deal with boons - delete them from the game entirely
-
The issue is being swept under the rug. You will NEVER get your Bubba shards. Enjoy
-
Because Twins are MONSTERS at high MMR
-
ending tickets early as the first step towards ignoring the problem entirely

I wanted to make a post in appreciation of Spirit for all you Spirit mains and fans out there. Now let’s all comment on Spirits greatness and how much we love her. If you don’t love The Spirit you don’t have to comment only true die hard Spirit lovers should comment.
I’ll start with what I love about Spirit I love everything about her from her blue complexion to her long flowing hair like a river. May she cradle me in her arms and embrace me in her bosom.
So what do you Spirit lovers and true Spirit fans have to say about Spirit please let everyone know on this post.
P.S. This post will be valid to Thursday February 3 after that further comments shall be deemed as not true Spirit fans.
I only had 50 hours in the game
I loved Spirit so much, I had all the cosmetics
I pray to Spirit every night, thanking her for the 4Ks I've been given
"Spirit is love", I say, "Spirit is life"
My SWF partners hear this and call me a simp. I knew they were just jealous of my devotion to Spirit
I called them survivoroids
They DDOS'd me and shut down my game so I went to sleep
I'm crying now, and my computer has exploded
I lay in bed, really cold. I feel something even colder, almost deathly...
It's Spirit! I was so happy. I call her "Rin-chan" because I really main her
She cuts me and I die.

Honestly, that's a fun way to look at it but it's not great when every game I double pip up from, I get 3 where I de-pip and when wait times take 10 minutes. It also takes the fun out of it if any second chance perk just goes with the wind and does nothing and there's no way to defend yourself (BT, DS, etc) There's some games where I don't mind dying because it's a lost cause and I can't be bothered getting hatch.
Btw, nice name OP ;)
I agree on pipping. In my opinion every game should be 1 pip. Make it purely based on time spent as the devs keep insisting it is now. Maybe allow 2 pips for a perfect all iri game.
Wait times are the fault of the developers not wanting to acknowledge bad killer-survivor ratio as far as I can see.
-
People will continue to leave because of poor balance, and also to avoid dealing with the pathetic behaviour of many players which the developers have decided to accept as 'inevitable'.
-
Yeah the game health is the biggest problem with Ringu. People are leaving the game. The DLC gets people back (or perhaps new people in their place) for a while, but if they don't solve the overall issues, it's a drop in the ever draining ocean.
-
Sadako not Samara, though I also think Reiko is the most likely survivor (then again they seem to to basing things more on the novel which had a male protagonist). Hex totems kind of make sense with Sadako because she does curse people, but hopefully not honestly as they are quite weak in the meta.
Haddonfield remake yes, time for it to get even worse like all the remakes
-
I don't know. I played quite a few games on Eyrie and never saw anything but the normal fence arrangement. After the patch I watch Otz stream a few games on it... and boom, second jungle gym I never saw before. Someone in his chat mentioned it too
-
I'm disappointed, I think the promotional material looks great and the hair is the only part of the skin I really like anyway (was going to get it with Bubba shards... oops LMAO)
-
Yeah exactly. They don't 'ignore' toxicity - they openly support it and always will.

It seems they are actively trying to do everything to antagonize the community. At first they remove the masks with no adequate reason. Then they decide to compensate with 6k shards for 4 masks (look in the store how much a single head cosmetic is). THEN they are unable to do it instantly, and tell you to wait 24 hours, as some kind of real life state bureaucracy, and THEN then fail to do that! Is the company getting dissolved and shutdown or what?
Yes, it is somewhat Kafkaesque.
