So if you are a good killer and you sweat you'll win most times with no perks? That's still very killer sided.

No? That just means that you got into game where survivors didn't do same thing :D

It's RNG, it's contest which side is going to bring more nuclear option. That's not killer sided at all.

  • It's not like survivors would care if I use Bloody Party Streamers, so why should I?

This is tournament level treatment, which just can't be used for most groups.

This is "tournament-level treatment" in the sense that we are limiting the top performance ceiling for survivors that can exist in public matchmaking just the same. And precisely because most groups are not tournament-level teams actually stacking 4 DH, DS, BT, Deli, Prove, BNPs is why it won't hurt most groups much.

Like what the hell should new players do?

New players are the least affected by this because they do not even know what the strongest and best perks are, let alone go for coordinated or stacked loadouts across the board. They'll just play with whatever they have. And players at this level actually even just intuitively know to benefit from SWF/voice comms much more than they know about perk power levels and whatnot. I for one really don't expect it will change much about the SWF survival rates at that level.

The way to punish SWF for playing with friends

Personally I really don't feel like this would be "punishing" people. For one thing, they still outright benefit from teaming up in SWFs, so it's still a net-positive to do so, both in terms of overall performance potential and in terms of just having fun with friends. For another, I know I'm not talking for everyone, but I personally would not at all mind having to adjust my builds in SWF scenarios. In fact, I would rather enjoy having to come up with unique builds and coordinate with my fellow players, deciding who gets to use what. Seems interesting and fun to me.

Your change would piss off a lot of people and it would just be bad in general for the game. You don't want to punish players that bring friends to this game, that would be just dumb and bad for business.

Now you're repeating yourself and just repeating "bad". Why are you so upset over me suggesting SWF nerfs?

I actually think most people would get used to this rather quickly, but fair enough, BHVR might also think this would be worse for business, if merely on the basis of being a "nerf" when solo buffs and compensatory killer buffs would be "buffs".

There is not enough good perks for anything like this to begin with.

Big disagree. Finding 16 more-than-good-enough perks to use in a coordinated manner in 4-SWF is super easy.

You would have to make a massive changes for anything like this to work and you would mainly not do it for SWF only, you would have to do it for whole team -> soloQ too. Then probably restrict killers too, so they can't stack many slowdown perks etc. it would be hell to balance, which they just are not able to do. Anything like this would not be possible with patch every 3 months, just too slow.

This part I don't get at all. What massive changes, and why would you have to do this for solo queue and killers too, exactly?

Like I said, one major reason why I prefer my suggestion to BHVR's approach of buffing solo and compensatorily buffing killers, is precisely that the latter is much more time and effort-intensive, and is sure to take years given past development cycles.

I would do it for everyone so it doesn't feel like "punishing" change, but it would bring diversity instead, which might be actually good thing with enough buffs to weak perks.

It would be issue to implement something like that for a killers tho...

Another problem is that you would have to make exceptions for some perks like it is on tournaments for BT for example. I wouldn't limit all perks to 1, some core perks might be better for 2 per team instead imo.

For example We'll make it, BT, Kindred etc. just support perks should be limited to 2 instead imo. But this would be hard for new players when it wouldn't be just simple rule = everything once perk team.

But if this was implemented they should actually fix tunneling / facecamping imo, it would be kinda issue without BT / DS.

Can you please tell me how do you that quote thing on left? I have never found out how :D

  • Probably B, but I really don't like to play him.

He is kinda like billy, super high skill ceiling without a reward.

He is good against soloQ, because you have multiple / none survivors running for box, but SWF just have always 1 who is closest.

He gets punished a lot for any missed hooks, but even if you land then you don't gain much distance and it just don't give you hit on most loops.

  • Yeah, after actual patch notes, I can see why.

They had to rewrite whole Nurse basically, which is not easy and they finally fixed validation bug (probably).

But otherwise, yeah. Noone cares about addons, their changes pissed off players instead. Low buffs that don't matter and undeserved nerfs, like no ######### there are only 3 addons used when everything else suck.

Perk changes, again most of them don't do anything interesting.

Boil over will be used by toxic shits with map offerings, where killer will not be able to hook them, so fun...

DMS is only perk interesting imo, there will be some new builds at least, unless they nerf the hell out of it.

I am really disappointed they didn't nerf CoH.

Their addon / perk changes are just not something to be expected by 3 months waiting, too little too slow, but we should get used to it by now...

  • Just no. This is tournament level treatment, which just can't be used for most groups.

Like what the hell should new players do? They don't even have that many perks unlocked and you would just force them to use ######### perks even tho they don't know how to benefit from being SWF.

The way to punish SWF for playing with friends would be really bad for the game. Their approach is just better. With that everyone can be happy, soloQ will get info and we can get killer buffs.

Your change would piss off a lot of people and it would just be bad in general for the game. You don't want to punish players that bring friends to this game, that would be just dumb and bad for business.

  • It's so useless it hurts using it.

  • STBFL is must have imo, it's kinda last thing going for him compare to other ranged killers.

after new DMS change, you can try pain resonance, DMS, STBFL, Thrilling tremors / BBQ.

Alternative that I used was BBQ, STBFL, Pop, I'm all ears / A nurse's calling.

You might like him, but it's mainly because you haven't play him before nerf. He is not worst killer in dbd, but he is just less fun and more clumsy.... but gl

Classical Overreaction. Maps usually have Hooks close enough together that you dont really reach the end of the Wiggle-meter at all. The only exception might be Swamp-Maps and maybe Midwhich, however, I have now seen a Midwich-Map with a Hook right on top of the Basement (next to the entry), so probably more than enough Hooks back on this Map again...

But I guess players will draw Horror scenarios, obviously mentioning SWFs (the ultimate strawman), Breakout, Boil Over and the new wiggle...

In the end, it will not matter at all in almost all cases I guess.

Personally, I would prefer extra BPs in Survival instead of speeding up the Wiggle-Progress, but if they keep the Progress of 1 second (at max), it would not have much impact anyway.

Basement hooks, Scourge hooks, bodyblocking, main buildings without a hook.

I don't think it's going to be each game thing, but it's also not impossible as some are trying to say.

They should move it by 0,5 second, so instead from worst to best 16 to 15 it would be 16,5 to 15,5. This way you have both reward and punishment compare to previous version.

Thanks for taking the time to analyze this! @zarr

Given how salty people are regarding dead hard and pallet hit validation, doing it for every "hit" would probably cause an outcry (tbh. I would love to see it), but it would be fair. Currently, a lot of hits connect that just shouldn't, and yet, people think it's "skill", when very often it's just client-side hit registration advantage.

I'm still thinking: not everything in the DBD-P2P-age was bad. All you had to do, was to monitor the lobby ping for a couple of seconds to see if it's good (and leave if it's not). Dead hard was also working flawlessly.

PS: funny that such a core mechanic of the game is killer sided. Think about it.

I would hate it so much. Simple reason, I have under 30 ms ping, so I know that most validations are because of survivor's ping. It is really frustrating to lose, because of their ping. It's not my fault we see different things.

  • I have done and never got banned. I have teamup with survivors and got reported a lot and never got banned.

I wouldn't really care, good reason to have a break :D

I have a rule, validated three times = afk.

I am telling you to actual try to learn, my dude. Your attitude right now tells me you just want to be good without actually trying.

Use the brown addon that shows you where your blink will be and just play. Don't worry about winning or losing, focus on learning. That's it. Nothing else. The only reason losing is a problem is because you are taking it as a problem. You're brand new to something, stop expecting to be a master instantly, and understand that you're going to make mistakes and you need to learn from them.

It seems to me that he gets annoyed more by survivor's reactions, which I can relate. Just escapes are normal.

That of course depends if he would be good with them, I like to learn new stuff. I would not watch many if he would show only basics.

And here you are in yet another post, ranting about flashlight clicking.

It. Is. A. Game. Mechanic. It. Is. Not. Cyber. Bullying. Nor. Is. It. Hate. Speech. Behavior.

I still have yet to see you bring up the Doctor's power effects on survivor HUD, flashing lights on the generators, fireworks, flashbangs, or killer generator-popping perks which cause flashes on screen. Wonder why.

Literally every other game that contains flash warnings says "if you experience any adverse effects to this game *please stop playing immediately and contact your medical provider*". So, yes, ask your friend to stop putting themselves in a position to be MEDICALLY IMPACTED by in-game lights, and do us all a favor and stop equating epilepsy to ACTUAL RACIST ACTIONS.

And you may have yet to see it, but it's been posted few times already.

Here is some example, enjoy if you care so much...

    @Pyrulen said:

    This is a 2 part request/suggestion.

First I want to inform the playerbase that flashlight clicking is more than a toxic mindgame, it is a serious risk for users or spectators who are sensitive to flashing lights, potentially causing seizures leading to harm or worse. Consider what kind of harm you could be causing to real life, and disable those clicking macros.

The second part of this is a call to action for BHVR to implement a 0.5 second cooldown in between flashlight clicks in order to meet safety requirements for photosensitive epilepsy:

    Photosensitive epilepsy triggers:

    – Any sequence of flashing* images that lasts for more than 5 seconds

    – More than three flashes* in a single second, covering 25%+ of the screen

    – Moving** repeated patterns*** or uniform text****, covering 25%+ of the screen

    – Static repeated patterns*** or uniform text****, covering 40%+ of the screen

I would also like to point out that Dead by Daylight does not present a warning for Photosensitive Epilepsy on launch or in the EULA, which creates a risk of legal liability when posts like this are made public and met with inaction. Please add a warning, along with the functional cooldown of flashlights mentioned above, as these are very real health risks to many players/spectators.

This isn't a demand, or a threat, this is a genuine plead for assistance in helping to minimize the health risk for players and spectators of the game.

I don't recall any official statement being made regarding Flashlight rapid click macro use by the dev team, but the problem is still very present in the latest PTB from today.

    Thanks,

We have talked about doctor, gens, rooms, police cars and yes flashlights.

Whenever I decide to talk about it, I just choose the one that would be easiest to fix.

It's a mechanic? Well, tell me a purpose. Why do survivors need to be able to use flashlight for 20ms several times per second? I can understand to stop it once, maybe twice when you start to blind early, that is part of the skill, but stop it hundred times? Why?

Even Dota, game where even heroes are toxic have cool-downs to most actions. But that's something you can't get offended by, so I guess advice to stop playing is better for you :D

I don't really understand what you are saying. I've had the game for 2 years and MMR system was collecting data for month before it was turned on. I don't "rank up". I stay at the same rank all the time. Also, it's not even about me. Otz has been playing it like a job and you can't say that MMR doesn't have anough data on him. He steamrolls every match.

System has data, but system doesn't have players equal to him all the time...

It used to work like that and Dowsey had to wait few hours to get tournament squad.

  • I would watch random samples. Just to learn how he played it and how survivors played it.

  • @tester said:

Average kill ratio of 2 they said? How about 3?

Average wins same as losses they said? How about 3.65?

And I'm just a mediocre killer with most, other than Cannibal, killers. Individual mmr per killer they said? How about 10 wins streak on Cannibal?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/1NEXBYAAO0ME/stats100.jpg

But... Don't take my word for it. Otz had video on the same topic a few days ago. His stats are even more damning. Clear proof that MMR is a failure.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acHiwnCW7eI

Play 100 games on one killer. Someone in middle, like Nemesis, or Demogorgon.

That's only way to get some results with how MMR works. Don't keep changing killers.

  • Not sure how I feel about your boon nerf. Problem is that it would make CoH only boon viable. You need to nerf CoH in a way that is not going to affect other boon perks.

You don't really get CoH. Issue would stay same, everyone could just safe-heal and recover anytime and you would remove any reason to actually group heal. I mean, it would both be 16 seconds, so why waste time of two survivors? It would be better to actually remove self-heal option and make it we'll make it on boon.

They don't want basement be scourge hooks, so it's not stronger than already is. It should probably stay this way, so you have to choose, either strong hook or perk. But I would change scourge hooks to be based on number of hooks total spawned instead of just 4. You can have 6 hooks and you can have 13 hooks on whole map, I don't like that RNG effect.

Beast of prey- just red stain or also your TR? It might be fun perk if you could remove your TR too, but if it is just red stain then it's useless when you can just moon walk...

Iron grasp- that would be cool. It's just worse agitation now imo...

NOED - that would be so useless without speed boost. Limit number of attacks to 4 and also keep hex weakness. If you want to do this, it shouldn't be hex.

Overwhelming Presence - that's really weak and you would never use it. Make it your TR instead of 10 meters might work.

Shadowborn - that would be really good for Legion and Wraith. Well, not against CoH...

Deathslinger would not get saved by movement speed. It would help him get stronger yes, but main issue is how it feels to play him. His whole ADS mechanic need rework. Higher sensitivity and higher FOV. It just sucks to use it.

I really want that Demo change...

I agree to most, some would need to be actually tested tho.

  • Holy #########, ok that will take a while...

  • @Zozzy said:

Something balance decisions should not be made around.

They can, you just make it in a way that it doesn't affect actual balance.

For example, if there is something unhealthy for the game, you nerf / remove it, but you buff / create something else to help that side. Sadly, devs don't understand that concept.

So you have become a seal clubber by being nice... Well, you are staying there by your choice, so don't be surpised you are going to see NOED.

There are two types of killers that use NOED, either really low MMR, because they need, or really high MMR, because they need too, they just get into end-game for different reason.

But the fact is that NOED is just a way to get extra kill, that's all. NOED can also be reason why you got that far in first place, maybe if he had some slow-down perk instead, he might get 4k.

  • @Trickstaaaaa said:

They buffed a killer perk that literally no one uses. AKA dead man's switch. And turned in to a 'A+' tier perk. I can say that if the perk remains in the way they buffed it, it will surely become a meta killer perk. Since it's literally an upgraded deadlock. I mean the perk has the potential to be used 11 times, already better than deadlock since it can only be used 4 times max. And dead man's switch has a max time usage of 45 seconds, again better than deadlock since it only last for 30 seconds max. And I actually liked that they buffed a weak useless perk, and turned it into a strong meta perk. And I used it and it slowed down the gens, so it's a good buff. So lets hoped it does not get nerfed badly. So everyone is getting something good out of this update.

I wouldn't say it's just better deadlock, simple reason.

Deadlock is way better as alone perk. DMS is quite bad alone, you need something with it and you can't use pop or ruin with it, because pop is 100% useless and ruin is worse.

Pain resonance will be really good combo, but I wouldn't say it's better than ruin, pop for now. Mainly because pain resonance is RNG perk.

It just blocks gen, you can't regress it, so that gen is protected from you too. If you went there, well most of the times noone would work on that gen anyway.

There are two killers where I think DMS will be really good and that is Freddy and Artist. Deadlock can be used on anyone, you don't need any hooks to activate, it just always work. Just for that it's more reliable than DMS.

I have 4500 hours as surv and I play with killers with 100hours and always with noed. Imagine why

Funny thing is, that while we have SBMM, you are playing against killers with 100 hours, while you have over 4k and you are losing because of NOED?

Are you sure that is main issue?

If you play against 100 hours killers and it seems normal, then you are either really bad or seal clubber losing on purpose just so you can play against new killers....

And are you sure you want use argument: "it's used a lot". There would be so many nerfs for survivors with this logic...

  • @gendoss said:

You should play 200 games where you guarantee all 5 totems are cleansed to see how high the kill rate is. If NOED is truly balanced the kill rate wouldn't go up that significantly.

Problem is that what you said is not really that good way how to deal with Noed. You are wasting your time against something that's not going to be that impactful anyway.

It's possible with totem hunting perk, but it's usually better to only track totem location, so you don't waste time, but you can easily find it if needed.

As a matter of fact, some of the best survivors i´ve been teamed up with, were console players. Yet, there is this myth, that they are bad.

I don't like to play with them, but that's more because they usually use discord over phone or somethinig weird and I don't like to listen to that.

I have seen bad players and both sides and good players on both sides. Some of best teams I lost against were actually console. But not many good console killers tho, those are usually bad.

If you're not actually going to watch the video and at least try to understand how the mask was being used to target black content creators then I don't have an interest in continuing this conversation with you.

I understand how it's being used. I just don't think removing a cosmetic is going to change anything. Better reporting system would help a little.

Problem is you just can't get rid of it. As you said, that would fix only morons that talk about it and don't hide it at all. But removing masks is not going to fix even those.

"It's still just a feeling" Huh? How?

In what way is having your stream raided by 500 bots spamming racial slurs not an obvious indicator that the person is doing it because of race???

Why can't we improve the report system AND remove the tool that is being used by racist players to act out their disturbing fantasies? Racist players picked the SF cosmetic because of it's resemblance to blackface and hence used it as a tool to amplify their racist behaviour.

What about the situations where Leatherfaces wearing the cosmetics are going out of their way to grief POC characters/streamers but not actively saying anything racist in post-game chat. It's pretty obvious what they're doing but not necessarily proveable and so they can't be banned for it. It's not fair that black content creators have to be subjected to that kind of in-game harassment. Removing this mask takes away that tool.

Stream raided by bots is twitch / youtube issue. Black mask cosmetic is not going to fix that...

Difference with dbd is that it's 1 game. Twitch can be raided over and over again.

Thing is, you think they care about not having a black mask? The actions are still going to be exactly same, nothing will change. Well, only change is going to be how that killer looks in game. I am pretty sure that actions are what is annoying for them, which is going to be exactly same, because it's a player issue.

Watch the full video before making ridiculous comments like this.

If you watched you would know that the LF in these situations DID make it clear they were doing it over race because they were saying slurs in post-game chat and even going so far as raiding streams with hundreds of bots...

Can't believe this community is actually blaming the streamers being harassed and not the people harassing them 🤦

    I just don't care, that's all. It's still just a feeling.

Maybe make a better report system instead making pointless gesture and removing everyone quite hard to get cosmetic...

Like really, do you think this will do anything? He is still going to do it, just with different skin. Probably with Pretty Lady Bubba, or some different killer. Trickster is good camper too and asian, so that works. Skin doesn't matter, that player is an issue, not a free skin.

and flashlight macros are still issue. They remove this, but macros are fine...

This video explains pretty comprehensively how people "spread hate" with the mask.

I am too lazy to actually watch all of it, but so far it seems like she got bullied by bubba and made it a race issue. It's not like Bubba said he is doing it for that reason. It's just what she thinks happened.

So everyone got cosmetic removed that was not really that easy to get, because few people got offended by a toxic gameplay.

Hey, so now I think everyone with flashlight macro know I am an epileptic and trying to give me seizure. Remove that #########!

You can already do this with artist using nemesis. They will let go of gens before you hook which counters pain resonance from triggering DMS. They can wait for the artist to fire crows then depending on how many she fires it's a longer cool down. Or just work on a gen that has different elevation compared to the artist like a hill or a lower floor. Maps like the game will counter this strategy.

I've been running corrupt, nemesis, DMS, and pain resonance. So the only thing that will change in my build is nemesis

I am not saying there is nothing you can do about it, but it will be hard for soloQ. Decent SWF can probably deal with it after you use it once...

I completely agree that it's pretty nice to buff weak Perks, it's just the way how they buffed some of them.

Furtive Chase is still a useless Perk with no use other than the Obsession switching.

The buff to Buckle Up doesn't make it good or usable, it still for some reason does have the range limit, and even if that was removed, nobody would use it, because it only gives you information you already know or can guess pretty easily.

Remember Me got a good buff, however there is a much better option that does work on everybody, it's No Way Out...

The buff they gave to Distortion doesn't really solve it's issue, that being finite amount of Tokens. Just make it give you tokens for save unhooks.

Power Struggle buff does only make it stronger with Flip Flop, otherwise I don't see it pretty good on it's own, but I might be wrong.

Coup de Grâce got a good buff, but it's still worse than it's PTB version, and the PTB version wasn't very good either. I wish it would give me more Tokens somehow.

Gearhead, Boil Over and DMS buffs sound interesting tho, the only thing that's exciting about this Developer Update.

It's just that we waited three months for several unwanted changes (addons nerfs) and three buffed perks (to a decent level).

It would be fine, if it was like each month thing, but those are just number changes...

  • Just let me swap during that hour long fatigue...

  • @Aneurysm said:

There must be more changes in the PTB than what was mentioned in the dev diaries. Who would spend time installing and uninstalling that to test buckle-up and a couple of minor buffs/nerfs to some addons?

You just have to test 2% difference on some addons!

Yeah, basically you have two perks on each side to test, so kinda waste of time installing PTB, maybe that's why they wanted to make it faster?

If the nerfs to those add-ons are so minimal, why include them at all in the first place? I don't get it.

The changes seem pretty random, like they literally had to fill the second part of the Dev update somehow really fast, so they just took some random add-ons and nerfed them for the sake of the Dev update only having 5 lines of text without those changes.

I think there is quite high chance it's true :D

Most of this is pretty good? I mean, sure, nothing's being buffed to particularly amazing levels (save for maybe DMS and Boil Over), but nothing's actually that bad either. Maybe a few addons that didn't need nerfing, but even those haven't been nerfed into the ground, they'll still be usable- and the majority of changes were buffs, too, killer addons overall got buffed.

Some weak perks/addons being buffed and some accessibility options makes for a pretty good patch, to me.

They were not nerfed to the ground, but it still wasn't needed and there is still nothing to test except two perks...

Maybe if they made other addons viable instead, those wouldn't be overused. Some addons are overused, that's what happens when most addons suck...

We supposed to ignore the numerous Survivor nerfs as well? Or does that not fit your narritive so well?

Sure, list me 2021 survivor nerfs.

BT was more a buff imo and DS was nerfed that's true, but fun part is that it started to work better because of it, when killers don't respect it anymore.

    OoO and keys were nerfed.

    Anything else?

  • @Bloodwebs said:

@Dino7281 I did think of that, but swfs would just group up anyway right?

@Midori_21 agreed. 48 meters is literally mind boggling wth

Yeah, but they would actually need to group up. They don't have to do it now, everyone can just play and heal solo. That's the broken part imo.

We'll make it on boon would not be that broken.

  • @Bloodwebs said:

@Myla it's literally disgusting. It should be a one time use and even then, the perk would be so powerful on large maps like RPD...

One time use would be fine for CoH, but probably too much for any other perk.

Just remove self-heal part from CoH.
