The issue is: it's inconsistent with the entire game.
BBQ and Pop are the most common killer perks since ruin nerf, making his power not activate Pop makes him a trash tier killer. "hurdur but you can just hook people" so, I must not use part of his power in order to use the perks? What is the point?
DS, BT, We'll Make It and Deliverance are perks that you see all the time and they are literally useless against this killer. It's not hard to imagine a build with all this 4 perks. My Claudette, for instance, usually runs DS + BT + We'll Make It. Hell yeah, playing with 1 perk!
No it doesn't if you play him right. Do you use Demo's shred for every attack? Or every hatchet throw of Huntress if they're right in your face? You can still utilize those perks consistently depending on the Survivors you go against (obviously) and your strategy. Right now, the optimal Strategy is to:
1 - Torment
2 - Down/Hook
3 - Down/Cage
4 - Tormet
5 - Down/Mori
Now if you're good enough, you can still use POP/BBQ/MYC, etc at a maximum of 4 times. That is still pretty effective. And even if you DIDN'T use those (meta) perks, you can still utilize other perks to compensate like chase perks. In fact, my Pig uses nothing BUT locating and chase perks (I.E M&A/Whispers/Endurance/Brutal).
It's about being smart

It's honestly BS that he gets an instant hook + counter to so many perks + no kobe attempts. Some part of that combination needs to go and it needs to go yesterday.
He counters Killer perks too. And we're basing everything off the fact that he has to get you tormented first to be caged. It's not impossible to not be tormented. And if there is an excellent PH player, you can still use your perks, but only once.

*laughs in Head On build*
Unless you're trying to PO a Killer with a Head On/DS wombo combo or you're in a SWF's, I've never found Head On to be that useful honestly.

and that should be a bug and something they revert back ASAP
If the Devs intentionally designed that way, it's not a bug.
-
And that's the risk of it. PH breaks the Meta better than Freddy by using a Power that instantly "hooks" people. It's a fun change because it requires you to run new and creative builds. I don't really see what the issue is.
-
Most of you are acting like it's the easiest thing in the world to tunnel now with PH's power. It banishes you ACROSS the map. On the off chance that there isn't a Survivor already over then when it happens to do an immediate save, PH still has to walk over there which takes a lot of time. Especially on maps like Ormond or Red Woods. If no one has done anything to distract PH by that point, can you blame said Killer? Usually when I hook someone, I'll patrol 2-4 gens before circling back to see if anyone is coming to do a save. The same applies here. On my way to the banished Survivor, I'm walking past gens to see if there's any Survivors. If I don't see anyone, then I will logically assume they are going to save the caged survivor.
-
Personally, I would be playing SWTOR, The Isle, OW, Wiz101, and probably any Survival Crafting game if my buddy and I played.
-
Probably one of the most easy to dodge hits there is.
-
So everyone did get the gifts (BPS at least). However the "gifts" seemed to be varied. Some people got 100k BPS with no shards. Some people got 50k BPS with no shards (such as myself and others). And now there are people who are getting 50k BPS with 1k shards. Seems odd that there is just a varying degree.
-
He's definitely not as easy as people make him out to be. Power can be easily dodged compared to Demo's Shred but still works similarly. I feel as though his power effect only works at vaults, narrow halls, or mind games. Any other time, you have to feign it for a hit.
-
You act like Nurse or Doc haven't existed before the release of this Killer. PH's power is super easy to dodge compared to Demo's shred too.

Spirit can literally approach speeds of 170% movement speed with add-ons in her power. Nurse can 30m with one blink and 12m with the second with her best add-ons. You're not going to get far if they're coming for you because of Discordance, Thrilling or BBQ. Spine Chill's 36m warning will have little to no impact. Same with Freddy. If he's teleporting to a generator, you don't need Spine Chill to tell you that so its not getting any value.
And all three of those Killers really don't care at all about vault speeds because they use their power to chase. Not traditional M1 gameplay. There's no true "counter" to Spine Chill because the perk isn't prevented from activating, but the perk's effects are basically a placebo in those scenarios because its so insignificant
Spine Chill is most effective against Spirit during chases when she phases. It doesn't matter about her approaching. Even then, a warning is still better than nothing. And a Nurse using a fully charged blink still takes time to activate.

Well first of all you posed a question with no quote, so I would interpret that as a free invitation answer it. So I did. But then you decided to get all butthurt about someone replying to you. Apparently I was supposed to be telepathic and figure out that your post, though having no discerning features that involve a direct reply to a singular individual, was in fact only directed toward one person and nobody else should even dare to acquire your attention for the few moments it takes to read some text.
Seems like you're the one that wants to argue over nothing. Indeed, you argue over someone trying to answer your question genuinely. So to you I say this: Deal with it, nerd.
Considering the fact that the discussion was created BY OP, that implies that no quote automatically means anything written is in reply to the original topic that was posted by OP. Do you think people just join random discussions and make an entirely new topic with no correlation to what the OP said? This must be your first time in a forum.
And considering that you answered the first part my obviously rhetorical question with a snide comment "genuinely" and completely ignored the second part that was half rhetorical, half genuine, I can (and will) call you out for it because all you've been doing is monitoring this discussion to argue with other people instead of answering OP's question.

@gatsby said:
If you really want a Spine Chill counter, they do exist believe it or not.
Try using Spine Chill against a Nurse, Spirit or Freddy. They can all get across the map quicker than most Killers so the advance warning doesn't help so much. Nurse and Spirit don't even traditionally loop so the vault speed doesn't really matter. Freddy can flat out prevent fast vaults with snares.
Also, Freddy, Spirit and Nurse are all in the Top 5 best Killers in the game and a common sight at high ranks. Spine Chill OP. eyerolls
Those aren't counters at all. Nurse and Spirit still have to look in your direction to move towards you. And unless Freddy is teleporting right on top of you from somewhere else (which you'll see him because by that point, you're retreating), Spine Chill beats him too.

I'm sorry, did I say I DON'T value what you say? I don't care if you don't care about what I think. My reply to OP wasn't a conversation that included you, especially replying to me with hostility. Quit making arguments over nothing.
-
Not that I want Spine Chill to be nerfed, it's an OP perk for sure but nothing that needs to be changed, but in what reality should a STEALTH Killer have to moon walk on their unsuspecting prey? That is just unnatural in an already unnatural game. If Myer's Tier 1, Pig, and GhostFace can counteract Premonition, why can't it counter Spine Chill?

As crappy as it is, you're not required to play as a team. The freedom of choice to be a solo survivor or a team effort is based on the individual. If you don't believe me, comb through all the Survivor perks and tell me how many perks there are that aid solo Survivors instead of providing for the team.
-
I don't see what you say as often as you do. Mind you, I play Rank 1 on both but I'm Killer main. So I'm going to go down and dissect a little bit of what you said. And a disclaimer, 50 feet is 15-16 meters which might as well be up in your face. So your complaint is face camping, not proxy camping.
Huntress: If a Huntress is sitting right there in your face, throwing hatchets at you constantly. Sounds pretty toxic or that you did something to PO the Killer.
Bubba: It is typical for Bubba's at any rank to face camp. Not really surprising.
Hag: That is what her traps are designed for..? To catch unsuspecting prey during mid-chases or in the midst of altruistic actions. I don't see what the issue is there.
Freddy: Probably sees someone in the area or just a really bad Freddy if he's face camping you.
Going off your edit for clarity, I'm going to be honest and say I don't watch Streamers or Youtubers on this game. I play my own way and have played with other Killers. And my experience is typically different. Yes, Killers will patrol after hooking someone. If I looped about 2-4 gens and have found no one by that time, I'm swinging by the hook to check to see if anyone has come to save the hooked Survivor yet. You would be dumb not too at that point. You as a Survivor are not obligated to get 3 hooks in a game. If that was the case, there would be no point to the timer while being on hook. I also don't understand how having slow down perks is going to change that situation. What does Corrupt Intervention have to do with you being on hook? In fact, what says a Killer has to have those perks?
It's not about "playing sweaty". It's the fact that you got outplayed. Anyone can bounce back from those situations of a "proxy camp". Mind you, I don't know the exact definition of Proxy Camp. But I assume it's when a Killer is still near the area or walks by the hook every now and then during a patrol. Just because a Killer wins doesn't mean it's sweaty play. It just means you made a mistake, and you lost.

That's just blatantly incorrect survivors have major differences between them (as I previously mentioned), and they can be as impactful to you as the killer you're facing. Survivors need Iron Will on at all times because they're so loud, others only have bright clothing available, male survivors are far easier to see, some survivors breath really loudly which really puts you at a disadvantage (even more so if you're playing a dude), their hit noises are also different (making you super easy to track if you have a long one), and for better or worse their P3's are different (which impact their games FAR more than a killer P3). So no, they are comparable because they both have gameplay impacting differences. As for playing one survivor, switching perks does nothing for me, I need that visual, audio, and game feel difference that they bring. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way and with each survivor's inherit advantages and disadvantages it makes it way too boring just sticking to one.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1150355#Comment_1150355
Which I have done, but you are very incorrect on running out of addons. It takes far too long to find what you need, regardless of what method you use. Killer doesn't have this issue nearly as bad, it's not even comparable with how much worse on survivor it is. With a survivor, when you get every perk, there's no reason to keep leveling them seeing as what you gain is mostly worthless and you'll get like 2 of what you want out of 500k BP. Even if you decide to just level one survivor, you still have to level every other survivor to 40 to get all the teachables, but doing so means that you are more limited by your main survivor's disadvantages (as I've mentioned before). And when challenges require you to use certain survivors who you have nothing/not much for, it inherently puts you at a disadvantage. So regardless of whether or not you focus on just one versus multiple survivors, you are wasting points regardless; either through going too many Bloodwebs just to get one specific addons or leveling a new survivor. It really says a lot when you can have 1,000 moris or Iri heads long before you get 500 keys on just ONE survivor. The grinding does not equate even if you ignore every other survivor that exists in the game. The problem is not spending points, the problem is getting nothing for it and losing what you might get even if you win the match.
First off, it's been nearly 3 months since this post was created. Let it die. Second, I've stated before that perks can be swapped between characters on Survivors, so any Survivor can run Iron Will if you learn the teachable. On top of that, Iron Will is the Meta anyways due to it removing grunts and pains at 100% when tier 3, regardless of which character you play. Most Survivors have some form of clothing that is dark and can easily hide you but ALL Survivors have bright clothing. I'm only saying most because I don't know if they all do and I'm not going to lie to you. If you the only character that has nothing but bright clothing, that's on you.
You're going off your own subjective opinion on which characters are easier to see. I've lost sight of Detective Tapp and Adam Francis multiple times more than a Blendette depending on the map. A player's cosmetics are again, universal and in a way, swappable. If you want to be a bright target for the Killer, you can wear that on ANY Survivor. If you want to blend in, MOST (don't want to say all) Survivors can do so. Killers on the other hand, have SPECIFIC powers that are UNIQUE to each INDIVIDUAL Killer. And yet they still have to lose their add-ons when going into a game. If a Killer wants to be flexible, they level up multiple Killers and train on them to get specific add-ons, which requires more BP use than a single Survivor who has no powers. You can argue that you get more useless add-ons before any good ones and that they may be true. But at least it's all central on 1 character instead of spread out between 3-5.
If you want to have different Survivors maxed on stuff, that's fine man. Play the game you want. But stating that Survivors SHOULDN'T lose their add-ons when Killers have to is just ridiculous. Especially when now, you don't even lose your items, just the add-ons you walked in with. Which means you can focus your BP more on add-ons than regaining items you lost in a match.
-
NOED is fine. Especially for an endgame setup.

But they did. Because if you're not hetero, you automatically fall under LGBTQ+ because everyone else who isn't straight falls under that community in terms of sexual orientation or gender. LGBTQ+ represents everyone that isn't hetero or cis. So the minute Behavior says they are going to 'Integrate Diversified Identities' during Pride Month, this is exactly who they're referring to and targeting when they speak to their audience.

Indeed, it doesn't matter. So why are you making a big deal out of it? All the devs said is that they had already added heterosexuality, so they were going "all in" and branching out.
Because it's seemingly disingenuous and shallow that they feel the need to "shout from the roof tops" that they are going to represent a specific community instead of just letting their work both present and future speak for itself. They didn't have to say anything at all or at least until after the work was done on why they went back on what they previously said about leaving it open to interpretation. It feels like a crappy marketing strategy they're using to get more people playing the game. Which is whatever, you gotta hustle, but that's pretty cucked if their way of getting more revenue is to exploit a specific community for more monetary gain.
-
My personal problem isn't the fact that some of the characters are beyond heterosexuality. Kudos, don't really care, just like how I don't care about how David supposedly has an ex girlfriend or Frank and Julie are smashing. My problem is the big deal they're making about this with these announcements. They could've easily incorporated their life story into the lore with mentions of ex (insert gender here) lover and most wouldn't have cared.
Also, why? Why does it matter that you need to hear someone's sexuality? I promise you that most people who play this game, don't give a fly duck about who's straight or not. They enjoy the lore, but that's not why they're playing it. And lastly, you couldn't feel represented and relate to characters before such as Dwight who suffers from anxiety and wants to fit in? Or Claudette who's a science geek and loves botany? Why is it when someone's sexuality or political stance or anything outside of a character's actual personality matter to people instead of the actual traits that define a person?

little weird to tell me what I should be happy about. Also if you want to hear my whole life story I can start on my book and give you a copy, your obviously my biggest fan. As for saying behavior didn't support me or LGBTQ+ I never said that. Youre twisting my words. Im simply stating im happy that they are ready to be vocal about it and not only that but ready to write about sexual orientation.
Its also weird you mention role models. I never said they were going to be role models to me but its nice to be able to say "that person is like me." Also the concept of role models was originally boiled into fiction instead of reality. Superman is an American icon that is suppose to be a role model for what we as people should stand for. super heroes are our versions of greek gods and all that. Fictional characters are made and can be made to see as to what we should be and act like and what we shouldn't act like. fiction mirrors reality.
"While many people still despise and outright hate LGBTQ+ members there are many many more who don't and support us and treat us like we are people. I'm glad behavior is finally ready to do that.'
Didn't twist your words. You wrote that yourself. You implied that before when Behavior didn't outright say 'X character is X sexuality', they weren't supporting you or treating you like a normal person. Also never told you what you should happy over and that your role models had to be based in reality. Even though the term 'role model' was not boiled into fiction, it was coined by a sociologist when it was talked about and compared to Athletes or Entertainment Artists. What I said (and what I should've phrased better) was that getting overjoyed over a game character who doesn't talk and sole purpose is to be mutilated thousands of times in a trial about murder and possible hope just because you can "identify" with that individual on the basis of their sexuality is seemingly shallow.
Were you unable to identify with the character before just because you didn't know their sexuality? You can't identify with Dwight's nervousness and wanting to fit in? You can't identify with Meg who through hard work and determination, got a scholarship through her athleticism? What about Claudette who's a geeky introvert (possibly autistic) who likes to study botany?
Lastly, the whole point of telling you not to share your life story is that it's no one's business. And it definitely doesn't correlate with you getting beaten and choked out on a bus and Behavior suddenly wanting to detail characters sexuality in a video game.
-
Stop giving your life story. I can understand representation to a point, but if you're that over joyed over a video game character being gay when their sole purpose is to escape a trial, you probably need to find better role models.
What's more frustrating are people who hint at or outright say, 'If you don't have representation of X community, you don't support said community'. Which is basically what you said when Behavior's focus at the time was on creating a fun and competitive game for everyone to enjoy. Behavior's initial idea of leaving it open to interpretation was that it didn't matter what your sexuality was. You're still a human being and having a preference or skin color or gender doesn't make you any less of a human being. People can still support you without shouting it from the roof tops.
I'm not angry at you, good for you for being happy. It's this general idea that people get that personally just annoys me because it's almost ridiculous that people have to do this to feel some "normal".
-
SWF's aren't effective enough to require a Killer to have more than 4 perks.
-
What's immoral about playing normally? The only thing you could argue being immoral is that clearly the Match Making System is broken since they put potato survivors up against you.
-
Using DBD as an escape to forget the fact that we live inside a simulation? Yeah.
-
Seems bugged. I completed mine by running a Treasure Hunting build and looted toolboxes out of chests on the map and fully depleted them.
-
1st Argument - So you only find fun in getting chase and doing altruism. But find the integral part of the game, doing Gens to escape, to be boring. Then run builds that complement what you want to focus on. There are perks specifically designed for being who love doing chases and altruistic actions. No one ever said camping was balanced, at all. I don't even think that is an argument that can be made in favor or disfavor. It's a strategy depending on the specific scenario and situation. And no, fun is not more important than balance. They are both equally important when it comes to video games. If a game was unbalanced, anyone who is on the side with the most disadvantage wouldn't want to play because it's unfair which leads it to being not fun. No one goes and plays a video game where they have no chance of beating the opponent what so ever, no matter what they do.
2nd Argument - You can't start off your post by saying, ' Camping and tunneling someone pretty much removes any chance of that person escaping' and then immediately follow with 'Yes, I agree, it is possible to escape such a situation'. If you agree that you have the chance to escape and survive such a situation, you agree that there isn't really a disadvantage because EVERYONE is being affected by it.
3rd Argument - Never personally heard anyone say that, ever. I've no doubt some people say it, but that doesn't mean anything.
-
Yes, there is some disgruntled people within the community on how everyone only uses Meta perks and doesn't switch things up. I can attest to this because I usually see the same 4-6 perks being used among all 4 players at Red Ranks every match I go into. However it's not really the complaint of the current Meta perks being used constantly that most people have a problem with, it's the fact that some of those said perks are "broken" or that they have "too many second chances" (DS being a prime example of a hot topic these days).
The beauty of the Survivor system is that you are not tied down to one specific play style when you select a character like other games. You could use any perk on any Survivor for any combination of things. You'll get perks that have amazing synergy together and you'll get perks that clash against each other. But regardless of what perks you select, you had the freedom to choose which ones you wanted to run and play with. It is up to the player, not the game, on what perks they can use.
With that being said, what's stopping you as a player to not use Meta perks? When I play Survivor, I'll run different builds that usually gets me more wins than I normally do with my "main meta build". I'll run a Treasure Hunting build where I scour for chests for goodies to aid the team in the match. I'll run an all-out healing build to ensure my teammates are at peak health throughout the match. I'll run a chase build where my goal is to keep the Killer focused on me and evade him as long as possible. Hell, when I want to dick around, I'll run all the 'Eye-Designed' perks just for fun and I still usually come out on top.
Forcing people to select categories just isn't beneficial. And what if a Character like Meg can't use the combination of her 3 base perks because of your system? Especially since Meg's perks are essentially apart of the Meta build. Nor should it force players to quit. That's a loss of money and it affects the already fragile ecosystem that is DBD.
-
I don't believe this idea is sound, no.
-
There are only 2 instances where I will ever hit someone on hook.
- Survivor I'm hitting was being extremely toxic through the chases, so I'll camp tf out of them until they die while nodding, shaking, or hitting.
- I'm playing Demo and I just love his roar so I'll hit the very last survivor constantly as they're being sacrificed.
-
That's pretty petty.
-
Never liked Streamers, don't watch any personally. So when I see them in-game when I'm Killer, I make extra sure they're the first to die.
-
You don't need to hear with Whispers. Simply notice that the perk lights up.
-
I'll just post a bunch of different builds I do to give flavor to the game.
Main - PGTW / STBFL / Infection Fright / Optional 4th Perk
For the 4th, I usually run Devour Hope or Bamboozle. If I see a whole team running flashlights, I'll use Light Born. But honestly, that 4th could be anything you want it to be.
Fun Builds:
- Rancor / Nemesis / Endurance / Infection Fright OR Rancor / Furtive Chase / Dying Light / BBQ
Nothing speaks fun and tension like a game of Mori Roulette on who's going to get their face devoured.
- Ruin / Surveillance / STBFL / M&A or PGTW (in case Ruin is disabled)
If you want complete map control and awareness, this is the combo. Ruin / Surveillance is a heavenly combo that is more reinforced in Freddy's power but Demo can use it too if you're quick to set up your portals.
- Knock Out / Infection Fright / Deer Stalker / Fire Up
If a total Monster/Slug build is what you want to go (Where you don't hook anyone since Demo cares more about eating than hooking for the entity), this is it. These perks are design to make it realistic where players can't realistically see each other crawling on the ground from across the map. NOTE: People find this extremely toxic and you will get massive hate.
- Distressing / Coulrophobia / Sloppy Butcher / Blood Echo or BloodHound or Thanatophobia
Nothing speaks thrill of the hunt than chasing your prey off the blood they leave on the ground. This is designed to ensure no one ever heals, making the game much more on edge.
- Endurance / Spirit Fury / MYC / Thrilling Tremors
If you want a quick way to end chases on top of your shred while wanting to quickly locate prey, this is a noice little setup.
That's just a couple of things I switch through. Sometimes I just throw in random perks and see what comes up. Good luck.

Honestly, if we ignore original Killers, I think Pinhead (or one of the Killers from the Hellraiser franchise at the very least) would be an excellent edition to the franchise both Lore wise and and sales. Not many things top iconic horror than Hellraiser. Even though the poor franchise got dragged through the mud in its late years.

No. Is it morally wrong? Yes. Does it suck the fun out of survivor? Yes; but when the developer takes this vital piece of information, and stores it on your PC in plain text, it is not cheating to look at it. You can not turn around and call it cheating. Of course, you, in your opinion, can consider it cheating, but that doesn't mean it is. It's on the thin line between cheating and not cheating for sure, but given the nature of the issue, and that you can literally just use your OS to inspect the file, it can't fully be defined as cheating. It's an oversight from the devs.
It's not the players giving themselves the advantage. It's BHVR giving the players the advantage due to their typical nature of overlooking things.
Regardless - it lands very securely in a gray area that exists between cheating and not cheating.
That makes no sense. That's like saying using Cheat Engine or some kiddy script to gain an advantage in game isn't cheating because you're using the information the game has stored locally on your PC. It is cheating, and it is not natural. You as the individual player are not supposed to utilize, modify, or tamper with information that goes against the spirit and rules of what's happening in game. If you break the rules, you're a cheater. Plain and simple. Even if BHVR may have mistakenly given players the opportunity to use that information, that doesn't give you the right as a player to abuse it. That would be similar to blaming BHVR for having an unsecure server when you delved into their system and took that information (if it wasn't stored locally). Then turning around and saying, ' Well it's your fault for overlooking your security'.
If you saw some old lady walking by your house and accidentally dropping wad of cash because it's her "typical nature" to be clumsy and forget and to check her pockets before leaving an area, would you just take it because it's free money sitting on your property or notify her?

Just because you run those meta perks doesn't mean everyone else does. I used to be Rank 1 Survivor before I took a break from the game, and I'd run Treasure Hunting builds like Ace In The Hole / Plunderer's Instinct / Pharmacy / Urban Evasion. I'd win most of my games with at least 1 other person Surviving with me because I always pulled out a key or had good supplies to heal/repair our way through the match. And I strictly play solo.
Shoot I run crazy builds just for fun like Nemesis / Rancor / Endurance / Brutal Strength on Oni when I want to play Russian roulette with survivors. Mind you, I play as a Rank 1 Killer. Sometimes I'll depip because of an OP team, but then I'll demolish another team and become Rank 1 again while using wacky builds.
Side note: How the hell you going to cross out UE when by itself, it is a fantastic perk that evades a lot of Killer's powers and prevents a lot of chases?
