  • PGTW. Never had a use for it, never saw the point of it. You can supplement regressing a Gen with other play styles.

  • The perk has its flaws but it also has potential. Not many perks can effectively work by themselves, and most don't even have synergy with their original Killer. The yellow aura of a Gen is also highlighted when Nancy's perk is used (Can't recall what the name is but it tells Survivors that someone is currently working on that Gen). Imagine ToT being used on say Freddy, and Freddy suddenly teleports across the map and finds a Survivor with no TR on him. I'd say that's pretty effective.

If a mori suddenly becomes useless because the killer actually has to work for his kills, then I don't know what to tell you. Spare me yet another paragraph of why you love moris though, I'm pretty sure I've already seen three of those coming from you.

The point of a Mori is to quickly and effectively end the match. Pig's RBTs work the same way. Survivors keys work the same way. I don't think anyone particularly has a problem with a Mori itself, it's the players who use it to tunnel other players immediately out of the game. It shouldn't be based off death hook. At that point, what's the point besides a drawn out (cool) animation? It's probably quicker just to hook someone rather than Mori them.

  • DS time in its current state is fine. The problem is the abuse of it such as hopping in lockers mid-chase to force it to go off or repairing gens while expecting the Killer to grab you.

  • So Mori's I can slightly understand the issue with. You'll get Killers who tunnel you into oblivion and kill you quickly. I think people have more problems with the Pink Mori than the Green Mori. Mind you, I only ever use a Mori when a ritual (or challenge) demands me to kill them by my hand.

Keys however, I still to this day don't understand what the problem is. You don't suddenly win the game when you walk in with a key. You still have to play and do a certain amount of Gens before you can escape. And that amount varies on how many are alive. If you want to argue that Moris should similar to how Keys work where a Killer needs to do x for a period of y before they can Mori someone, then sure, depends on how you approach it. But I don't see the problem with Keys and people don't like Moris when a Killer goes full "toxic".

  • Silent Hill will always be iconic. Not to mention the map and horror elements that are in it are currently the best yet.

  • I took a month break and I only came back because of Silent Hill. It's worth the break.

  • Sounds like whatever Demos you go against then aren't Demo mains. Portal placement is everything based on the map and is a slow set-up similar to Trapper. Shred in itself is the mind game. When Survivors are running to the next tile, Demo will typically open up for a Shred. Obviously if you're a good Demo, you'll note when a Survivor is looking at you while they run. If you notice that, you feign a shred to get them to juke themselves where you close back up and hit them with a basic. No different than Death Slinger aiming his rifle. The only thing that legit sucks is his stomping.

If Demo is a dream killer to face as a Survivor, it's definitely because he's a rare killer who is fun to play against. But most teams I've gone against with Demo, I usually end with a 4k with 2k being my minimum.

  • @MadArtillery said:

Probably why they decided to put time saving into pyramid head. If a killer can't slaughter in a chase like spirit, Freddy, and doc then they need something to slow down or speed up something these days. I mean heck spirit, Freddy, and doc aren't exactly missing that either. Killers like demo simply aren't worthwhile because instead of excelling at speeding something up their powers eat up time. I mean look at poor demo freddy has none of the setup AND teleports in a snap after an animation he can walk in instead of being stuck in a stationary animation followed by whooshes. Poor demo has nothing going for him lets be honest.

Except the difference is that Freddy's teleport goes away when there's no Gens to port to. His snares can only get him so far, he's essentially just an M1 Killer with blood lust. Demo can close gaps quickly with his shred. Demo is a good Killer, fun to play, you just don't see it often.

  • You lost me. Fix your post. I was a quarter way through because you essentially repeated yourself. And I don't feel like delving through to find out where it continues.

Instant fast vaults and windows never being blocked being changed wasn't some small balance thing either. Shack was an infinite when it had two windows.

Something being a big change doesn't by itself make the change unwarranted like you imply.

Your comparisons aren't making sense. Giving the Survivors the ability to Kill the Killer is goes against how this game is designed. There are no perks, no maps, no type of progression (besides doing gens and escaping) that would make sense for it to happen. F13 may be similar, they work completely differently. The only similarity they share is that your goal is to escape.

  • Stay in the low levels, and you won't deal with most of the toxicity.

Even a good survivor might have trouble with a killer that suddenly moves slightly faster than Bloodlust 1, and can still build up said Bloodlust. The exposed status is fine, it's the movement speed boost that's actually the biggest issue with the perk (other than bad killers relying on it to get pity kills, but we can't really change that unless the perk just gets completely overhauled)

So I'm in the high ranks on PC, seeing Killers running NOED is few and far between. The ones that do run it based on an end-game build (I'll run a build like that too sometimes). Even when rank resets and I play with the lower levels, NOED isn't a big deal. Because when a bad Killer uses it, 9 times out of 10, they're going to camp that hooked Survivor. You got 2 options, escape with whoever is left (Avoid the 4k), or go find the totem, destroy it, and do a save. It's not complicated, especially when the Survivor is good or the team is coordinated.

  • If Survivors were playing well, how did the Killer end up with a 4k? Killers don't suddenly increase in skill because of NOED. If you're that naive to not do bones, or for all 4 of you to run straight into his attack, that's on you.

  • A lot of y'all made some excellent points. I forgot that Myers/Ghost Face can't stalk through corn but a flashlight can still blind you at any distance. Someone also mentioned it about Wraith also needed improved invisibility. I think it should be something similar to Freddy's 'Pill Bottle' add-on where you can't be seen unless you're with 24 meters. What's the point of being "invisible" if you can still be seen from essentially across the map?

Pig also has a lot of issues (really quirks, still love her) where it just doesn't seem viable. Like how Survivors can still escape through hatches with traps on their heads or the fact that she along with Plague are the hardest Killers to gain deviousness on. Using ambush at high ranks is nearly impossible, since the only good time to use it is during chases.

  • Never understood why people hate Spirit. She has a learning curve, and it's a guessing game for both sides. The typical meta perk used that defeats her damn near every time is Spine Chill.

  • Ranks don't matter anymore. If you're honestly worried about pipping, I'm sorry, all you'll have is heartache.

  • You shouldn't be ruling out perks just because of XYZ. They are there for you to use, regardless of how others may feel about them. However the only reason why this doesn't matter is because the map and the players are random. You can't base your perks off something you don't know like their skill level or the map pick (unless you threw an offering).

You're going to have games were a group of players will know exactly what to do and how to beat you. Legion is no easy Killer on top of that. It may have been that you just weren't at their skill level. The only suggestion I might have is that you just go straight Gen patrol if all of them are running you that good. Especially if you're able to get them gen locked. I had a SWF's group destroying me while I was playing Freddy a long while back. I forced them to 3 Gen locked themselves where the Gens were all in view of each other and no more than 20 meters apart?

I spent the next 20 minutes just patrolling them, chasing Survivors off them but not too far. Hooking them between the patrol route I was doing until I finally got my 4k.

  • Nurse will always have the steepest learning curve. With other Killers, you can just revert to being an M1 user. Nurse doesn't get that luxury.

  • PC Red Ranks, Most common is Huntress and Freddy,

Least Common? Hag. I haven't seen a hag player in a long time. Rarer than Demo.

  • What does a group being a SWF's have to do with picking Light Born or Franklin's Demise when 3+ Survivors bring flashlights?

If you see the last Survivor, it's your call to either down them or hook the others. It sounds like you got greedy and made a poor choice that ultimately punished you. It doesn't mean you're a rank 20 if you ignore the last guy since you downed 3 others. It means you have a plan, or you want to prolong the game.

  • I think a chapter featuring a Scarecrow or a Siren would be pretty cool.

  • Survivors know you have BW AFTER the hook when the gates are open. That is 60 seconds of you finding Survivors anywhere but near that gate Pair it with another perk like NOED for example and you got the wombo combo. Remember Me adds 16 extra seconds to opening the door which is an extremely long time. Unless that has changed recently, it's a good perk for end game. Slugging encourages altruism in end game. You have no more objectives except to walk through the door. It's up to them if they want everyone to escape with them.

Now idk what's coming next patch, but Slugging is a good a strategy that is encouraged by slugging perks.

  • Y'all keep saying Ruin was a nerf but honestly in the right hands, it's a buff. You ever ran Ruin/Surveillance with Freddy? He will dominate you till kingdom come unless the totem is destroyed. And now that Ruin has had the effects changed, not many people go totem hunting as much unless the Killer is extremely good at maintaining pressure or they happen to stumble upon it.

  • Since you want to call me out without tagging me. Let me post this pic of the last discussion you abandoned.

Great..so what will be given to killers since they will no longer be able to salvage hooks after the gens are done? because right now the killer cant stop survivors leaving without noed because doors open really quickly...plus ds becomes insanely overpowered at that point of the game as well..

Unless you're running Spine Chill or Wake Up, doors do not open that quickly.

Killers can also stop Survivors from leaving by Blood Warden, Remember Me, Slugging, Camping, etc.

  • You can if you use the right perks and/or Killer. If you see a team that has all flashlights, why aren't you using Light Born (my favorite) or Franklin's Demise to counter that?

Why are you slugging all 4 instead of hooking after each down. I can understand slugging 1 and going after the other, slugging all 4? What strategy is that? It sounds like bad one if at all.

  • @MiniPisa said:

The devs will never ban someone for it, but they're working on a way to make it so unappealing that only pure idiots will do it.

It could be something to do with BP - maybe camping will guarantee 0% BP for a sacrifice, making it completely useless to camp.

Or it could be a more survivor sided solution - making gens go wayyy faster when the killer is in a certain range of the hook, enabling them to get all of them done before that 1 survivor dies.

Or even better, could be both.

What if Survivor's 3 Gen-locked themselves and a Killer hooks a Survivor in the middle of it? Should they be punished because the Survivors made mistakes?

What if exit gates are already powered and the best way to get a kill is to face camp to get a possibly guaranteed 1 Kill?

Everything is based on the moment.

  • I don't think most people have a problem with SWF's per say. It's the grief and toxicity that generally comes along with it. I could run build on my Survivor that's ask as a "Solo SFW" and get the same result. A lot of SWF's teams aren't that great.

  • @Dolls said:

Lol. I was on a Entire team that was hoping someone else would win the game for them. (Or was there to be toxic to Killer by doing nothing) Dude, nice try putting blame on only person trying.

I didn't blame anyone, you said it yourself that YOU were the one who did hook suicide. Unless you stayed the entire 2 minutes on hook through struggle and died, then no, it wouldn't be a hook suicide, it would clearly be your teammates/killers fault. But you didn't, because you saw them "milling around" and you "peaced out to find a better game" as you stated. What if they were looking for totems to cleanse or chests to open because a Killer may have a certain hex perk or they have a challenge to complete? What if they thought someone else other than them was coming to get you? What if the Killer was near them and they were trying to hide or find a way to get to you? Hell what if they're just recently new players that don't understand how the game works yet?

Regardless of the reasoning, you essentially DC'ed without getting the ban.

  • @Dolls said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1330552#Comment_1330552

You've seen someone get banned for it?

I havent heard about anyone getting in trouble for suicide on hook...

I remember once a killer found me early..like seconds in the match. I had a glory moment of running him for 2 minutes or so. I felt amazing, cause I suck at escapes. I stayed in one area of the map..during the chase never heard any gens go off. When I was hooked I saw all my teammates just milling around the map doing NOTHING. So I peaced out to a better match.

Obviously not, Devs don't post information about people getting banned. It's why I said "Could" be considered griefing.

And cool, you left your teammates behind because you felt at that moment they weren't doing enough. Purposefully hook suiciding is honestly a scummy move. That's as bad as DCing because you waste everyone's time, fun, items and offerings. Idk what platform you play, but it takes me sometimes up to several minutes to in a lobby as a high rank survivor on PC. When a player hook suicides because of X reason, it severely wastes my time and gives other players the incentive to give up.

  • Should you be administratively punished for deploying a (poor) strategy? No. There are times when face camping is needed during the match. Now if you wanted to incorporate an in-game punishment such as, "There will be an X decrease in Y when you Z meters away from a hooked survivor", then sure. I can kinda agree if it's not too severe.

Now I play High ranks on PC, and I rarely see Face Camping. After taking a month hiatus, my rank was lowered so I briefly played with the low levels. I delved into dozens of matches and only met one "Face camper". And he face camped me because the exit gates were powered. It's not THAT common as you say unless it's on a different platform.

It sucks I know, but there are ways around it.

  • What a terrible build for nurse.

  • @Dolls said:

This is why suicide by hook is fair play. If your team can leave you to rot..than you can also rot by choice...

Suiciding within the first 2 minutes of the game could be considered griefing. Especially when you did it because things didn't go your way.

    $$$

You need to give a reason for players to buy the DLC.

If it was about $$$, then they do it to at least 1 perk for every new character. I think they just didn't realize what they were causing when they put it live.

  • The nerf to Mettle of Man was needed. The perk was overly-OP when it first came out.

  • He picked a woman up with one hand and ripped her entire skin off her body with the other. I'd say pretty powerful.

  • Honestly, it's a toss up between Freddy the Immortal Dream Demon who can't go to hell, Oni, and Spirit. Mainly because we have never seen Freddy interact with Spirits, they probably don't even dream. And who knows if Spirits can even possess dreams, let alone harm Freddy.

  • Depends on what Rank you're at. It's hard asf to get it at Red Ranks but easiest when you're in the mid-low tier range. I'm at Rank 1 right now and I am having the most difficulty getting it with Clown and Plague, especially Plague. Her own power at Red Ranks screws her over in the emblem system when Survivors cleanse.

    Clown is Clown.

  • Anyone who starts with 'As X main, why is X still the way it is', I just don't believe them.

    @MadArtillery said:

No idea how this thing exists in its current state. I will say it'd be a lot more balanced if it worked like Death Slingers coin.

No one uses the coin though because it's so ineffective and requires the perfect area to use it.If the meters were shorter, I'd understand and whole-heartedly agree.

  • You need to do a TLDR; because I'm not going to sit here and watch an 11-minute video.

  • @Seiko300 said:

I purposely stay away from both of these characters because neither are fun for me, however, the Pig doesn't exactly have much to go on here. You can ambush but when it takes a few seconds to crouch, your FOV is limited because of how low to the ground you are, how slow you move (90% mov. speed so slower than survivors) and the ambush itself has a very loud audio cue, it's not exactly what you would call reliable. The RBT's might as well not even exist, since they're completely RNG related, there are a bunch of problems with those but since they are unrelated to the topic of deviousness I'll hold off on the rant.

The Plague on the other hand might not be as better off, but she's got something that she can use somewhat consistently throughout the entire match. It's boring, it's poorly designed, and about as bad as the Pig, but when it comes to deviousness and BP she's got something. You can throw up on Survivors whenever, and if one of them DOES decide to cleanse then everybody will likely cleanse. Even if they don't you've got one Corrupt Purge to work with at the start of the trial. Even if all the survivors are broken you can still throw up on generators, pallets, windows, lockers, etc. which you should be doing that if they aren't broken but that's besides the point. You still get points for those actions and since there's a static supply of those across the map you'll never run out of things to throw up on

If you haven't been doing this all the time, that's why you're not getting as much deviousness points while using the Plague.

Infecting items such as Gens, Vaults, and Pallets only grant you +25. And the amount of time it takes to effectively infect something to ensure it lasts awhile is too long. It's just not worth it aside from getting strategic value. Fully infecting a Survivor is +150 and then anytime you do a basic attack on a Survivor, it's +200. +300 if you use Corrupt Purge. For basic purge hits, you only get those points if the Survivor is already infected, I can't speak for Corrupt because I only use it when they are infected. So realistically, you only get to use (1) basic attack on a infected Survivor to gain Deviousness. Max 3 hits before their Death hook if they stay infected. There's no definitive way to effectively gain Deviousness through her unless you go through a slug build and constantly down Survivors.

  • Who tf defends a Dull Totem?

  • They also changed the loop on the Tractor in Billy's maps. When a Survivor would vault onto the bale of hale and stand there, Killers would typically go up and run to the side over the little bump to swing around and hit them before they could vault back. You can't go over bump now.

  • I only go for 4k's for challenges, rituals, achievements, and depending on how toxic team is. Rank truly doesn't matter anymore and honestly I wish I was a lower rank just so I don't have to deal with toxic teams as much at high ranks.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 19
