What situation were you in where the killer was able to talk to you? That's going to take more explaining.

Xbox messages. Its not that uncommon since they can see our gamertag and send messages with 2 clicks

    I get that.

  • @Chordyceps said:

slugging isn't a punishment, you know that right? It's a just a decision killers make to put additional pressure on survivors.

I was playing survivor once, the killer said he wanted to farm. The second our guard was down he killed everyone. He was a rank 2. I let him know what I thought of him in dms.

The next day im playing killer and he shows up in my lobby. Suffice to say sometimes slugging them is a punishment.

Most Killers who do that just hit the hooked Survivors out of frustration.

I have seen a good leatherface that did not camp not even once and got all of us, I even praised the killer for it, since those types actually play it right and deserve a praise. While all the other facecamping leatherfaces is the biggest reason for high toxicity in this game and it even supports it if the devs don't make their points more punished for doing it. Why must all the other survivors get low score just because the killer decides to play toxic easy gamestyle? Facecamping right at the start with no way to save till hooked survivor dies sounds like taking the game hostage. Losing your rare items and not even getting a chance to play the actual game if you get spotted first. I don't mind tunneling cause you can actually try and defend yourself and have more time but with facecamping get spotted first and its just game over for you with low points and deranking. Leatherfaces have such a bad reputation because of high amount of people abusing his facecamping style, there needs to be something done so theres less of them. Like how come survivors being idle too long reveal crows on their heads which also deactivates some of the perks like head on but not killers? Killers should have a punishment aswell for staying in one place too long.

Coming across 1 dude who managed to kill everyone does not make leatherface a good killer. Hes awful. Thats why people camp with him, because he sucks at everything else

Yeah that's the main reason I got him. Kinda didn't occur to me until the other day lol. I took like a year or so break because my PC went bad. Switched to PS4. I usually don't buy these sorta things, but got more into the game and wanted to improve. I was always a survivor main, but the queue got ridiculous. At some points it was up to like 10 mins. Seemed especially so when I would make it to purple ranks.

Yeah i play killer when i want a challange or am farming bps?, survivor is much more chill, even when i lose its whatever

She doesn't seem good for the map. I just bought Freddy and Leather face today. I have everyone besides Oni,Plague, and Demo...so I'm willing to try pretty much any suggestions.

Ohhhh. Level up leatherface pronto. Bbq is the greatest thing for lessing the grind

  • Idk why you cant solo a KYF match. It would help a little in getting the mechanics for some of tge harder killers. I could sit in there all day just chucking hatchets for practice

The devs have stated the majority of games aren't 4 man SWF. So if you're losing enough to complain about it then you might wanna admit you're not good at killer.

Im not complaining about, just pointing out a well known fact. Killer is not the power role

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

Well, this is why I say MOST killers only care about a 4k.

As a Survivor, as long as I played well, I don't care if I died. As a Killer, I'm generally fine with a 2k and don't care about a 3k with hatch.

While I tend to follow the emblem system to gage how well I did in a match, I don't need a set of skulls or running stick people to make me feel good about my performance.

I second this, 2k is fine 3k with hatch is a w to me so idc

  • @Orionbash said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1283112#Comment_1283112

They do. I don't have any issues securing my 4ks as killer and Im up against red ranks all the time. Just because you're bad at the game and can't exert your dominance doesn't mean the rest of us can't.

Beating 4 solos, red or not isnt hard. The power role is tge 4 man swf group. This has been proven over and over again.

  • @Orionbash said:

Its balanced with comms. But not in solo queue. In solo queue every survivor has to stop what they're doing and run to the hook to see whats going on, which means less time for gens. 3 people have a much harder time completing all objectives than 4. Camping is an inherent abuse of the power role (Killer) and needs to be properly addressed.

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ imagine thinking the killer has the power role in dbd

Most of my trophies now are just to use the killers power to down people oh so many times or a few survivor ones which are just grind-y and not hard.

The few awful ones I have left are Tombstone Myers 4k, complete the last gen and escape while being the last alive and 250 unhook protection hits.

Not much of a point to this thread really. I'm just pretty happy and wanted to share my joy. ^_^

Anyone else a bit of a trophy/achievement hunter?

Congrats bobcat. I had fun grtting the adepts myself. Not sure if/when ill ever get tge from the void abd hubtress one though :/

  • @Fibijean said:

Congrats! The only killer Adept I have left is Deathslinger (got Clown a couple of days ago, and Legion the day before that). I'm having a really tough time getting it because I am not good at aiming, and Deathslinger and Oni are my least-favourite killers to play. At least Deathslinger's "use power X times" achievement is fairly easy.

I made sure to get the difficult ones like Evil Incarnate and From the Void She Kills out of the way early on once I started seriously achievement-hunting a few months ago, and I got Left Behind ages ago by complete chance because it was bugged. The hardest one I have left is distance hatchets on Huntress, of which I have four so far. Luckily, I play on PC, so I only need 20.

Deathslinger was by far the most frustrating. Id go through having to learn nurse all over again than have to go through that again. I think it was mostly cause his perks are so bad that it was almost like have none

You need merciless? Rly? FML! I never cared much about achievements, but that changed yesterday for some reason. I finished off all survivors in two days. Now I was planning on starting with Killer later, but I thought ruthless would be enough. This is gonna be painful I think.

Its easier if youre a yellow or green rank. And not totally unfair if youre bad with a killer. It took me 15 games or so to get it with nurse at r13, im normally r1.

If they remove tiers then there would be no point in ranking up your character to lvl50 because you would get all the perks before you even reach level 30

Items and addons, and to say you did

  • @NeaMainNON_TOXIC3 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1281608#Comment_1281608

    How would untiered perks work?

They'd have to be stuck at a certain point. For example with each tier is an increase in something about the perk. What stage would they be set to permanently? Tier 1 or Tier 3? Also perks would probably need to be more rare. We'd only need to get the perk once for it to be strong.

Tier 3 would just become the default. Nothing else needs to change

  • Nobody cares what you find exciting or fun. People who play killer dont want ti get stomped, and sometimes that means camping and or tunneling, most of the time though it means pressuring survivors in ways they call camping/tunneling that isnt. if there’s no obsession I’ll rehook instead cause 3v1 is better then 4v1

It matters a little. Red rank killers behave very diff than purple, and in a match i can tell if im facing less than 1's and 2's

Well, its doesnt mean killer spose to slug in start and dont give a chance to play for others, u know that sometimes killers on high ranks slug you and try to kill u in first 5 minutes, like all party, i understand if they will be have a bunch off bloodpoints, but this give absolutely nothing, instead of bad chat and report in end. I`m saying again, EVERY ONE WANTS TO PLAY A GAME, yes, sometimes they gen rush (survs) but its dont mean you need to be TOXIC killer or surv player, as i sayed, the community in this game is toxic and i think nothing will changed, and i think DC penalty is a bull trash, because if killer or surv play TOXIC, why i need to take this??? Is no balance in game, and every time is getting worse. Survs getting nerfed, and all preferences get to the killers, if they know how to play

In the high ranks they only have 5 mins. And going into a match you dont know the rank of the people youre facing

Again, I have no desire to play Killer. I'm not going to waste my time playing a side of a game I don't enjoy to prove a point to someone who really has no legitimate argument in this thread.

And if you want to make false assumptions about my matches because you don't like the fact that I advocate for Survivor's with logic and valid counter points, that's on you. LOL I am very obviously a survivor main and will always support that perspective - especially in a forum that is dominated by Killer opinion.

Lastly, 2k hours in the span of time I've played is a huge number. Probably more gaming hours than I should be investing. I don't expect you to be impressed. I expect you to comprehend that I have played this game long enough at my rank to be able to form a valid opinion. One that you continually reaffirm each time you post here. So, I guess my point has been made. :)

Yeah thats pretty much what I figured. You want to ######### all day long about how killers play but cant prove that you can do any better. Youre like the bum that complains about being broke but doesnt wsnt to work. Glad everyone else could see this too. Peace

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1282009#Comment_1282009

...I have. Where do you get off assuming that I have not? Especially since one of my favorite Killers to play when I need a survivor break is good 'ol Trapper. It's incredibly common to have a gen or two pop before you really get your side of the match started, if you're front loading traps. LOL

I don't know why you're insistent on making sweeping assumptions about my game play to try and invalidate my opinion, when you already proved my opinion for me. LOL I have 2k hours in this game. I have a pretty well informed perspective. And if I had any interest in perfecting my skill as Killer, I would have done so by now. Why would I waste copious amounts of time playing a position I don't enjoy simply to prove a point to you? I'm sorry, you don't matter nearly as much to me as you seem to think you do. πŸ˜‚

But alas, none of what you have said invalidates my point. This play style is perpetuated throughout most ranks because most people don't seem to be able to work out how to rank up without camping and tunneling hooks. All you're doing by stating, "oh yeah, well you try it without playing this way!"...is validating my point. You clearly can't do it. Most people clearly can't do it. But I know it can be done. I have played against it. And I wish the rank system was such that people could feel they had the space to learn without feeling 'punished' by an unbalanced system.

So prove it then. Should be simple rank 1 killer. Post a vid of you playing a game at rank 1 against rank 1s and 2s without doing anything that can be construed as camping or tunneling.

I "get off" making these assumptions because ive seen you say a lot of clearly very biased things on these forums in the week or so Ive been here.

And 2k hrs aint #########, dont post your hours at me like Im suppised to be impressed. Survivor mains live to do thst ive noticed. Idc

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1281932#Comment_1281932

I'm not avoiding your question - I just see the very transparent argument you trying to make: that because I am not a red rank killer, I can't have a valid point about the play style of red rank killers. Which simply isn't true. I play against red rank killers all day. So my rank as killer is irrelevant - either way my point is still valid and only further proven by your commentary.

But, to answer your question - since you seem to want to attempt to make your point anyway - I am typically around a rank 10 as Killer before reset. I don't play killer nearly as often as survivor for a couple of reasons. One, I prefer to play multi-player, team type games and always have. Two, I don't enjoy killing people in game. I don't find it nearly as fun as a riveting Survivor match...although when I have numerous sweaty matches as Survivor, I do find Killer to be a nice, relaxing escape and often feel it kind of necessary to give other Survivors a break from that behavior because I don't have a problem pipping as Killer, even as a rank 10 against the common red rank lobby.

If you're implying I think ranking up as Killer is easy, you are mistaken. While I am definitely a Survivor main, if you've seen me talk about BP and Rank gains in this game, you will know that I think Survivor is too easy to rank up (as evident by the complete potatoes I play with as a solo daily), and that Killer is too hard to rank up...which is why I think some of the worst game play comes into the game...because Killers feel like they HAVE to play that way in order to advance. I am a big proponent of equalizing the rank system in favor of Killers and fixing the match making system.

That does not negate the fact that the majority of Killers employ these tactics from moment 1 of a match and is most typically the only way they can get/keep their red rank. And, that this play style is not remotely fun to play against. When all a Killer does is proxy, you miss out on some of the most fun aspects of the game...getting discovered trying to reach your objectives...going for a spirited chase...mind gaming each other. None of that exists in matches where the Killer stays within range of a hook to be able to run back for off-hook, down the off-hooker and tunnel the off-hooked. I have definitely played against some really good Killers who never had to use these tactics and wrecked a red rank survivor team. So, I know it is possible. It's just isn't typically a level of skill Killers are willing to achieve, when the aforementioned play style will get them there at the expense of the things that make this game fun and exciting.

Yeah but youre opinion is irrelevant if youve never had a group of rank 1s fix 3 gens before you get your first down. Go through that and tell me how you came back without proxtmy camping.

My challange is pretty straight forward. Im new to these forums (though not the game) and I spotted you pretty quickly. You're every rank 16 killer rank 4 survivor Ive had in my dms complaining that i didnt let your friend unhook you. This is simple, if you think rank 1's should be able to get there and stay there without ever ptoxy camping or tunneling, do it. Show us. And when youre done teach us. Im sure we'd all love to know. Cause as far as Im aware there isnt a single person in red that has never camped or tunneled. But hey, if youve got the secret, prove it.

  • I dont think playing swf is sn issue inherently, but its just a simple fact a swat team can get gens done faster than a killer can do anything about it. What could/should be done about that is up for debate. Ive played against many teams where it was close/fun even though i lost (and vice versa). The issue is if both sides are equally skilled the survivors have an advantage that is insurmountable. The most efficient group of survivors will more often than not win

In what world does it take 3 seconds to kick a gen? I'm all for making it so survivors need to repair for a second or so to stop regression but let's not just outright make stuff up to prove a point.

What is it 2 secs? I dont have the exact time memorized, but am i reslly that far off? Your comment makes it sound like i said 30 πŸ™„

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1281895#Comment_1281895

But your comment wasn't whether or not I play both sides - because I do. It's that if I don't play a red rank killer, suddenly my opinion is invalid, which is a fallacy. I play a red rank survivor every single day and this is my experience. If there is a red rank killer in your match, 9x out of 10 - they are using a form of camping and definitely tunneling to keep their rank up. Very infrequently do I get a high ranked killer (or any killer) that plays to all of their objects and makes the match fun - even if you die. So your question has nothing to do with the validity of my comment. Also, your commentary does nothing but prove my point - this is how Killers play to get to red ranks. LOL So, I guess, thank you for agreeing with me? πŸ‘οΈ

I asked you what rank you got to and remarked how you come across. Its interesting how you avoid the question though. If you want to know what rank survivor i am ill be happy to tell you. Why are you avoiding it so hard?

You know what, skip that. I have a better question, if its so easy why dont you do it? We all know youre not a rank 1 killer, so why not show us? Play as killer till you get to rank 1, do it without ever camping or tunneling. Seriously, whats the harm in giving it a shot?

  • @LALYTHIA said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1281855#Comment_1281855

Enlighten me, what is the relevance of your question? Other than to prove my statement correct? πŸ˜‚

The relevance is if you dont play both sides then you have no clue what both sides go through, and getting to rank 16 doesnt cut it. If you cant pick up the controller and compete on either side then your opinions have 0 credibility. Thats the relevance.

Survivors and killers have both their own unique / annoying strategies. For example, body blocking for a teammate if you're healthy and they're injured while running to an Exit Gate. It's not OP it's just a unique and a smart strategy survivors do. Slugging is a strategy that a lot of killers do, it's not game breaking, sure it may be annoying, but again just like the gen tapping strategy survivors do, it's not game breaking and it's an unimportant strategy that is very counterable, and that doesn't need to be touched or looked at. Slugging is a unique strategy that killers started doing, just like survivors came up with the strategy to body block an injured teammate while running to an Exit Gate. Like i said, if you wanna counter gen tapping, use Pop and / or Ruin. And if survivors wanna counter slugging, use Tenacity with Unbreakable, I get that there's a few annoying strategies both sides do, but the point is, almost all of them are counterable.

Are you seriously comparing gen tapping to slugging?

Lets say it takes 15 seconds to down a survivor, teammate comes along and it takes (idk the actual number) 5 seconds to pick them up. Thats play and counter play. Now compare that to 3 secs to kick a gen and .06 secs to tap it.

Theres no comparison to these two things because one has a fair mechanic and the other doesnt. And its not about pop. If i kick a gen with pop and somebody comes along and just taps it for half a second then runs off for 30 secs, then i lost 30 secs worth of regression because of a broken mechanic

If you dind it cathartic fine, its just odd that it still gets to you if youre in the reds. Like i dont get upset every time someone pallet loops me or gets a flashlight save πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Its pretty much the only way Killers know how to get to red ranks. And its "smarter" than straight face camping because survivors are more likely to try and save if you proxy, so you get constant hook trades without having to do much...and if you're really thirsty you can tunnel as well and make it 2 hooks for every 1 save attempt. Its most matches, if the killer is smart and wants more pts than the average face camper, and isn't very fun.

What rank in killer have you gotten to? Cause you come across as a rank 16 that plays once a month to do dailies

  • Both πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

Yup I just played a rank 1 proxy camper. I mean come on I have enough of a hard time as it is dealing with red rank killers tunneling me but this? I had kindred open handed so yes I’m sure that’s what he was doing. The other two were a good distance away and I was waiting in hiding. Finally I gave up and just went for it. Feels good to rant on here though thanks.

Presumably youre in the red ranks, and if so by now you should understand that sometines proxy camping is warranted. If you dont understand that by now its time you learn. Its part of the game, like pallet looping, why let it bother you?

  • @KettleWettle said:

I completely respect you're opinion. I'm sure it is annoying, but I just don't think it's a very game breaking strategy. Like i said, Ruin is a complete counter to gen-tapping and yeah I understand that it can get broken early into the match if you're very unlucky. But i feel like it just doesn't need to be touched. It's just a simple strategy survivors do. I don't think it's an OP strat at all and I personally don't think BHVR will do anything to it just because it's not game-breaking or even really something important to really look at. A nice tip I could give you, is don't even kick the gen if it's too low, it's just not worth it. That's why every killer uses Pop, because it can really hurt the survivors a lot and kicking the gen can actually be worth it !

If its not a legit strat by survivors why do they do it?

  • I hate it. I got it two games in a row. Killed my entire mood to play. Then i got really bored so im now sitting at a beef o'bradys drinking beer. What if I catch Covid and die? Haddonfield might actually be responsible for an irl death. True story btw.

Actually, it takes 5 and a half minutes to fully regress a 99% generator.

So it takes Survivors 1 minutes and 20 seconds (roughly) to solo a generator and 0.06 seconds to tap it.

It takes Killers 2 seconds to kick it, and 5:33 to fully regress it.

This mechanic needs tweaking. It's so stupidly Survivor-sided that it may as well not exist.

That. That exactly. Everyone keeps saying how useless of a mechanic it is to kick a gen in the first place which is a really stupid argument. If its that useless why have it at all. Gen tapping is very obviously a flaw
