3-genning yourself can be difficult depending on what killer you're going against and how officiant your teammates are

Nobody likes being camped or tunneled by the killer because of course it's boring. Who tf thinks getting tunneled and camped is fun !!??

Freddy's only boring if you make him boring

Same for Doc he's only boring if you make him boring

I didn't say it was only boring for survivors because it's boring for killers too. When I play killer and the other side 3-gen themselves, it's boring AF for me as the killer too because most of the time they do accidentally 3 gen themselves, they just become very immersed. So no, it's boring for both sides not just the survivors side.

Playing the game as a efficient teammate doing gens and maybe getting ehh idk flashlight saves is fun

Survivors maybe trying new fun builds in fun.

A killer playing fair and in a fun way is fun.

A killer trying new builds is fun.

You're missing my point. Anytime anyone doesnt like something in this game they call it boring. That was my point. If your last 3 gens are spread across the map even the most potato of potato teams can finish that last gen. If you dont find that fun or interesting idk what to tell you

You obviously didnt read. You cant combat commited 3-gen early on. Its the same gameplay with 3 gens as with 7 gens, if you ignore the other 4 gens. Which is what i call 3-genning.

Didnt mean to step on your feet. You do yours, i just find it among the boring and lame strategies in dbd. Like stacking 4 second chances and looping infinites while teabagging and clicking flashlights. They also dont care about your fun as a killer. Do whatever you want, but dont be selfrighteous and act like people shouldn't have an opinion on it. Ebony moris, Keys, 4x second chances, tunnelcamping, 3 gens, op addons etc... all things people have a strong opinion on. IDC if you think it shouldnt be that way

Yeah but once again, nobody does that. Nobody walks in a circle around 3 gens starting right at the start of a match. And if they do then that should be pretty easy to counter. I explained to you earlier why that was dumb. Did you read it?

I dont mind random 3-gen setups appearing, because survivors didnt skip gens. No one has issues with that, since its the survivors fault.

It all depends how early you start protecting those 3 gens. If you keep track from the start till the end, then yes, i would call that 3-genning. There's no difference in gameplay. There's a killer always denying you doing the same 3 gens and willing to break chases to protect them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293972#Comment_1293972

They have a hand in setting up their gens, unless the killer protects 3 gens from the start. If it randomly ends in a 3-gen setup, its the survivors fault, since they could've skipped gens. But a killer can also patrol the 3-gen setup from the start, making sure none of them gets done. The typical Overcharge Doctor, dropping chases to kick the 3-gen over and over. Because survivors dont have a hand in that situation, its a forced 3-gen later on.

Yeah but I was responding to your assertion that its boring because theres no interaction between the survivors and the killers in the early game because the killer is only patrolling those three gens, im saying thats dumb and nobody does that.

Outside of that youre just complaining that its boring because the killer is using a strategy that you werent smart enough to combat early game and screwed yourself.

Let me make this even simpler. Killers dont care what you find fun or boring. Its a dumb argument to expect the killer to make sure you have fun in game. If you find camping/tunneling/3 genning/freddy/doc and whatever else in this game boring, go play something else. I hear Civ 6 is free on the Epic Store. Enjoy

I've seen it recently from newer killers. Had to play against 3-gens twice last night and while its beatable, its really unfun and uninteractive. Protecting 3 gens later on is normal. I meant the players who would always break the chase and return to their precious 3 gen. Maybe look for free hits, but then straight back to the gen. What feels like holding the game hostage, because he only prevents survivor from finishing the objective and doesn't care about his own. Until boredom kicks in, but the killer is stubborn for 30 more minutes and ready to invest the time.

My point was, just because there is a 3 gen (even if the killer was trying to get one) doesnt mean the killer spent the entire match only walking around those 3 gens. Thats stupid, nobody does that.

Now once youre in the 3 gen, yeah you chase someone off. If their dumb enough to run right around the area you chase them, if not you remove 1 or 2 pallets and go back. Thats the game, especially with trap dependant killers.

"Boring" is generally code for "It made me lose" or "I didn't know what to do".

It's actually super common in almost every game genre. Blocking in fighting games is "boring", camping in FPS games is "boring", ganking someone from a bush in MOBA's is "boring".

It lets people complain without there being the usual opening for discussion that other terms would provide, so it's an unassailable rhetorical fortress. They can just complain and complain and no one can question it.

Yeah i think the argument is pretty boring honestly

  • @Weederick said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293908#Comment_1293908

3-genning is really boring. If it happens randomly, fine, survivors fault. But if a killer only defends and kicks 3 gens all game. Thats as boring as it gets. No chases, no interaction. Just 5 people waiting forever for the other side to make a mistake. Boooooring.

That would be a really stupid thing for a killer to do. Youre not winning a 3 gen with only 1 or 2 hooks under your belt. I dont think ive ever even seen a killer do that before. So it must be pretty rare.

The way you do it is every hook you go back to your 3 gen and check on it. Even playing trapper or hag i dont only walk in circles around 3 gens

  • Because its hard? Why is it everything the killer does to make the game more difficult on survivors is "boring?"

    Camping is boring

    Tunneling is boring

    Freddy is boring

    Doc is boring

    3 genning is boring

Can you enlighten us all on what in this game isnt boring? Is it running around in circles for 3 minutes? Is that fun?

  • @Respectfulnancymain said:

I played 30 games as doctor, hag and trapper where my only goal was to 3 gen

Lets just say more then 70% of my games were 4ks

With hag and trapper 3 genning is required at high levels FOR SURE.

    @danielmaster87 said:

People keep stressing how 'broken' 3-genning is, especially on killers like Doctor or Legion. I disagree. Unless you're up against nooby green ranks, any competent team of survivors can overcome a 3-gen.

The last time I 3-genned, it was Deathslinger I'll admit, I felt that I played it perfect and the survivors still somehow did a gen in my 3-gen, and that led to some getting away. I was even on Suffocation Pit which is supposedly the best map to 3-gen on. I kept everyone injured, kept braking pallets while also keeping gens in check, but then all of a sudden one popped. Last I checked it was very low progress and I couldn't have been away from it for more than 20 seconds. Turns out everyone being injured was irrelevant, because they were a bunch of gen rushing Adrenaline gamers.

So the next time someone says 3-genning is a fool proof strategy, don't take their word for it. It's just smoke and mirrors.

I disagree. I have games where tge survivors and I fight over tge 3 gen before 2 gens are even done. Keep thinking its overrated though, i hope everyone believes that

I see about 1-3 every day. I hover around rank 3-5. People who use them are using them to be specifically toxic, their names were something like “iplaytoxic”.

If I see them mori after first hook, I just turn into a mobile bush and make sure they take forever to find me. If I work on a gen and SpineChill flickers, off I go. I don’t care if I don’t get the hatch, would rather die from the entity instead of letting them get the hook if they want to play that way.

It always amazes me when survivors say that. You know you always die by the entity hooked or not right? You know 99% of killers dont care which it is, especially if they brought the mori right?

  • Cause pipping is really really easy as a survuvor, and with how fast gen speeds are the only skill you need to get to red is holding m1 for 160 seconds and getting 1 unhook

  • M&A, Nurses, MYC, and bbq (bbq is mostly for points)

I'm honestly just seeing a huge spike of NOED users, I honestly don't know why, but most of my Red Rank games end with NOED popping.

The gen rush is real. Until something is done about match speed weak killers have to rely on things like mori and noed. I just played as clown against all r1s, BARELY got 2 of them.

  • Im not sure what op means by broken, but if meant mechanically then nurse. Way to many bugs. If over powered I dont think any of them are over powered personally. Most of them are underpowered

  • Cant speak for everyone but i rarely use them so i have a ton saved. If i felt compelled to do so i could probably use those for like a month straight. What you might be seeing is killers getting tired of getting stomped due to gen rush being so easy so theyre using their moris

LF can down multiple survivors in one saw and is great for camping, Billy can't down a whole team at once but has more mobility and can counter looping. Not that similar at all.

Plus, Freddy can force you into dream by hitting you once. And for the Gas, you need to reload, but for Freddy's snares, you can just spam them in an area essentially making them more effective since you don't have to reload. I don't want Freddy nerfed, but Clown literally can't keep up.

I didnt say they were exactly tge same, I said they were more similar than fred and clown.

I agree clown cant keep up, and I agree Fred doesnt need a nerf. What I am saying is people arent choosing not to play clown because hes similar to fred, theyre not playing clown because he sucks

  • @Poweas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1293596#Comment_1293596

He sucks because Freddy does what he does but also has mobility. Clown was somewhat popular before the rework, by that I mean he was played a decent amount.

That was before the ruin nerf. He fell out after that. With ruin he could somewhat keep up. Still weak but managable, after ruin rework hes completely useless.

Youre comparing snares which are only usefell when a survivor is asleep and only effect a tiny spot on tge ground to a gas that effects a whole area and can be used whenever. The only thing comparable between the two is that they both slow you down a little.

As an example, Billy and leatherface have more in common than Fred and clown do, and yet people still play leatherface (hes weak but at least he can be lethal too).

  • People dont play clown because he sucks, not because freddys snares have a somewhat similar effect. He has no mobility at all and theres nothing lethal about him. I play a lot of both because i like tge idea of playing a killer clown, I just wish he could keep up

From what I've seen, he's as bland as they come. Just a generic slasher/"torture porn", nothing that sets him apart from every other slasher ever. Saw had some vague philosophical depth to it and both it and Candyman had some psychological elements (and Candyman touched on racism). Jason is boring. All flash and no substance, as they say.

A common criticism of Candyman is that he's not that famous outside the USA, but neither is Jason. I didn't even know he existed until I dated a girl who was into F13th and A Nightmare On Elm Street. Other than her, though, nobody knew about either of them or cared.

Im confused on why you think your source proves your point. While it grossed more domestically it did quite well internationally. (Second column are US Numbers, 3rd column is international, im showing the last 2 made)

    Screenshot_20200522-092120_Chrome.jpg

And furtger you called him bland and generic, he was so influential that he helped define what the generic slasher is:

    Screenshot_20200522-092238_Chrome.jpg

I get that outside the US hes probably not AS well known, but hes MORE well known than the VAST MAJORITY of the slashers/horror killers out there. How many people outside the US have heard of Maniac, Pumpkinhead, Puppetmaster? My guess is very little. Want to bet more have heard of Jason than have heard of Candyman? In terms of Horror Icon status, its simply undeniable that he fits that definition.

    Yes!

  • Honestly a lot of survivors in red ranks arent that good. I had a game last night where during the game I genuinely believed MM had put me against yellow ranks. Unfortunately 3 of them were rank 2s and the other was an 11. Right now is a good time to learn whatever killer you want and use whatever build you want because every game is either a hit squad or people who kinda suck.

  • Think about it. Theres only three gens on the map, and theres a survivor hooked in the center of those 3 gens. What would you do as killer in that situation?

  • @MadArtillery said:

I'll proxy camp till the end of days in mu nice little three gen with you hooked in the centre :P

Okay now I can see why people keep telling me that the pig needs a buff

Yup. People dont care about those traps. At best you might get EXTREMELY lucky and get a kill, but most of the time youre wasting about 20 secs of the survivors time. There are add ons you can use that make it better, and if you dont mind being a dick (which i dont mind being personally) you can chase them away from a box their working on so they have to lose time getting back to it, but while youre doing that some survivor is working on a gen.

Basically when you play as pig you HAVE to be ruthless, theres no choice in the matter

When your channeling abyss, if you travel through a portal it’s lit up yellow to the demo, and when a survivor is near it a heart beat comes up that the demo can see, and then knows to teleport to. What I’m saying is atm there’s a chance where it’s not visible and gives you a false sense of security

I had no idea that was a thing. I really should play him more 😂

But if the person playing the pig is camping the on wit the key then....

Theres no way for her to know which box has your key...and its a really dumb play to camp 1 box out of 4 hoping thats the one the survivor needs. Not saying some noob pig out there wont do it, would just be really stupid

  • Um, i play as pig often, and often see survivors working on gens while they have a trap on, especially if its late game. Putting a trap on a survivor at one gen is virtually useless since they can leave through hatch

  • Wait, nevermind, what heart beat?

ahh, i wasnt aware they changed reset, ill probably just wait a few more days or so before i play again because most of these matches are just hold m1 for 6 mins go to queue and then rinse repeat.

Why not pick a fight with the killer? Body block, run OoO, whatever it takes to piss him off and get him to chase you instead of the dude being tunneled

  • @Noire said:

I've seen the community be very split about the possibility of him coming to the game. Ive seen 50% of people say they would be extremely excited for him while I've seen another 50% say that they'd be absolutely disappointed.

So what are your opinions on the idea of him being in the game?

Id be somewhere in tge middle. Hes fine but there are a few others id rather have

  • @Sluzzy said:

I hate him because his kills are delivered on a silver platter. You shouldn't be asleep the entire match with clocks on the opposite side of the map. No killer should teleport across the entire map and remove a portion of the opponents objective. It feels cheap and boring.

    So is looping 🤷‍♂️

  • @Deadman316 said:

I just don't understand why they do this? Are they frustrated with their lives so they come on the game because they have control over it? Or they're on a losing streak? Or got owned in SWF? All 3? Either way, there's no excuse for it. Hitting hooked survivors should result in a 2 minute cool down of swinging their weapon. Just hook the survivor and camp, or move on. No need for the abuse.

  • Not really, deerstalker isnt a meta perk thats run all the time and gives that perk a counter 🤷‍♂️

Average 5 million if all perks were only in p3-50 bloodwebs with 50k a bloodweb / 50k average per 8-12 minute match with bbq give you about 1000 minutes of grinding with 100-200 minutes for load times. Playing the game for 20 hours at most not even considering bp addons gotten from the web cutting it down to about 80% or 16 hours to max 1 characters perks.

    Also about 2 million to p1 - p2 -p3 each for 6 million or about 24 hours - 20 hours.

Yeah, sounds about right, the only bit youre missing is you first have to get each character to level 40, which is a lot in and of itself. But yes, good maths and looks accurate

I've been steadily working towards higher ranks (got to rank 6 this morning) but what I've come across is that killers that let you gen rush them or are just simply afk. Whenever I escape those games, I lose pips. I shouldn't be getting punished for the lack of a game on the killer's part. Now I am currently rank 7 because of this lack of effort from killers. I don't know if they do it to make you lose your addons if you bring in items or for the sole purpose of making you lose your rank. I don't want to be punished for actually trying in this game.

Anytime i want to depip for some reason i dress my clown up as santa claus and let the survivors farm off me. They seem pretty happy with my method.

That said if the killer is afk but not wraith, run around in circles in front of him and get chase points. If it is wraith report him for being a douchnozzle

If you can't handle a red ranked survivor team then maybe you are not meant to be in the ranks you are! i play multiple red rank teams everyday some i loose some i draw some i win. but to suggest that every game is a festival that just means you are not as skill based as the survivors you are facing. In simple words yeah maybe you should downgrade and get back to red ranks when you are more experienced in handling such groups.

This. All day. Win some, lose some. Is what it is

  • I love using pallets, snares are stronger but pallets more fun. Pallets should be base and snares should be add on. But yeah basically just shuts down a loop

I mean this works for a bit, but if you drop the pallets to early, he just breaks them, and if you do it to late like you said he just uses his ability, and then you get hit.

I mainly just don't want to have to rely on the map in order to counter a killer because that can be very unreliable ( bad loops, bad survivours that use all the pallets before you get in a chase, ect.). I get he isn't that complicated most of the time, but if they're using whispers I just find it virtually impossible to counter play them, then you end up replying on the map, which as you probably know is a horrible fail safe hahaha.
