There's been a few times they've caught on when I'm the Doctor just shocking everyone or Mikey just stalking and not making move at tier 3. I tried going around oinking as the pig trying to get people to boop the snoot but everyone just runs away, 0 trust for the pig. 😂

Yes! I tried that with the pig, they dont get it with her 😂

Hey guys. I think we'll see another spike in users once this new chapter is released. So what are your top three tips for new players? Mine are as follows:

    1. Play both sides of the ball. Playing killer makes you a better survivor and vice versa. A healthy dose of balance will give you an unbiased perspective of the game.

    2. Learn map layouts. On almost every map there is a strong loop to use as a survivor and to counter as a killer. Knowing strong looping spots is beneficial to either side.

    3. Most importantly, this is a video game, not a life test. We all know that there's an appeal to PvP gaming but beating another human being in a video game gives you exactly ZERO ground above them in the grand scheme of things. Your opponent is usually playing the game for the same reason as you, to have fun. Don't be salty if you lose and don't gloat if you win. Throw them a gg and move on to the next match. No matter what side you play, you need someone to play the other side. Don't dissuade them from playing by running your mouth.

Mine would be (adding onto yours which are very good)

    1) ignore what other players tell you what you can and cannot do

    2) dont bother with self care, instead stick close to teammates to get healed

    3) when you play killer dont stand in front of the hooked survivor smacking them. Yes its fun, I know you enjoy it, but while youre doing that the others are finishing gens. Go get them. Ok one more smack and then go get them

Ouch that must have sucked for them. Did that rank 9 die on first hook?

I am rank 8 ATM and the highest killer I got was a 3 and that was a quick match lol

Yeah I think he realized what was going on and said screw it and suicided. The night before I had a match I thought was a bunch of yellow ranks so I took it easier on them. Turned out they were really bad reds. I thought this was that again then felt bad 😬

Only time I've had people DC is when I haven't used Ghostface and they DC because they don't like the killer so they would've DC no matter what. My go to is Ghostface because with the others people don't catch on as easily if at all. Not sure what it is about Ghostface, maybe it's the ability to teabag, but they catch on and trust I want to mess around pretty much immediately.

Santa Clause they catch on pretty quick too. Wraith too if you follow them just slamming your bell 😂

Yeah, they are trying to fix this but due to lack of killers reds end up getting a first come first serve style in match making ATM.

It sucks and after back to back games like these it can be frustrating.

I dont think thats the full answer.

How are you supposed to see it anyways? It happens. People do get banned on every platform. The only reason everyone seems to think reporting does nothing is the fact no one actually spends their time submitting a ticket with proper evidence and all that stuff the devs (obviously) need to actually ban someone. They can't just ban someone because a player hits that in-game report button afterall.

The people I reported with everything (ticket, video, subscription etc) were banned even before XBOX had dedicated servers. I'm not sure but about this but isn't it way more complicated to ban players without dedicated servers? Anyways the devs do take reports seriously regardless of one's platform as long as people take their time to submit a ticket with clips and everything.

Maybe i read her wrong but I took her to mean that if people were banned it wasnt the first report. Not that the devs wouldnt take rule breaking seriously. As in theres a pattern of them breaking tge rules.

I always let them break free - helps them understand I'm just messing around. Usually ones that want to farm will go stand under a hook for me to get some hooks in. Tbh I'm fine just slashing, chasing, marking. Hooks are bonus but not necessary. I'm getting more points anyway even without the hooks than I was as survivor being camped/mori'd. 😂

Sometimes I dress as santa claus with clown and do the same thing. Ive seen people dc before, rarely but it happens, this is the first time someone got mad

The new killer got his nerf already 😉

This is from Leaks by Daylight: "The first draft of power was excessively strong, so much so that they had to change it, now the killer have an anti-loop power and the map will create many discussions. This information comes from people who know the new chapter."

Another anti loop power? Cant we get something else? Anti healing power? Anti gen rush power? Like pig is interesting and unique because she adds a secondary objective (even if its slightly underwhelming). We need more stuff like that

What do you think about this one?

    ______________________________________________________________________

MANY OF YOU ASKED WHO THE NEXT KILLER COULD BE, its pinhead

Some people who know who the new killer is, say that the next killer will not be Candyman and will not be Pennywise. To this it must be added that Jason Voorhees is currently very difficult to obtain, although not impossible, but therefore it is better to make an agreement for the license when the lawsuit ends. Chucky we know that the developers don't want to put it for technical problems with the game, Pyramid Head is an extremely difficult license, and Alien has also been denied for this chapter. At this point, the only killer left that could also coincide with the words related to this chapter is Pinhead.

A couple of things to support why I think Pinhead could be the next killer:

    • The code map "Level_01" its possible related to the level/sides of the map, so a map that have cenobities world and "normal" world, as the stranger things map that have two sides different. And maybe also for this the map is going to create discussion, for the differents levels/sides.

    • The killer is antiloop: Pinhead have the chains that can help against the loop with ranged attacks;

    • "Classic license" could easily connect to pinhead, he is part of the classic horror killers;

    • "The map will create many discussions" maybe for the two various levels/different sides (as Stranger Things map);

    • "Very emotional milestone for us": Mathieu Cote, the game director of Dead by Daylight, has always expressed his love for the series in interviews, and also said that Pinhead would be the most cult killer they would add;

    - "Mysterious survivor": it could be connected to the fact that in every film whoever finds the cube is always a different person, therefore the survivor is "mysterious" because it always changes.

    you can Quote me later

    I really, really hope you're right 😭

  • @bm33 said:

I can't imagine reporting a killer for not trying to kill me and just having a laid back round. I go in as Ghostface all the time and just hop around the map letting the survivors farm with me if they want. Sometimes after playing survivor and having multiple matches against campers and moris just want to play some laid back matches for points.

Thats what Im saying! Look I totally get sometimes people just want to play the game, thats fair, but we were just messing around she could have broke free from my grasp and went back to the gen if she wanted 🤷‍♂️

  • Yeah i thought I saw somewhere in another thread that you get suspended a few times in increasing lengths before out right banned?

  • @TragicSolitude said:

I try to be very careful about that stuff, because it's a precarious slippery slope of what might be considered "working with the killer"/griefing. I remember a match where two of the survivors were memeing and stuff, so I was friendly with them, but when they started trying to sell out the other two survivors I smacked them to the ground, not to be mean, but to try to prevent them from getting any of us in trouble. I worked hard to show the other two survivors I was friendly, and I would only ever do anything like hit them or hook them if they initiated it. Best to be safe.

I've also had survivors who were farming with me let one of the others who was participating die on the hook (to be funny, I guess?), so I also killed them in return, because 1. that's not cool, and 2. it can't look like I'm griefing or playing favorites.

Yeah i agree thats messed up. I guess from her pov maybe she thought I was going to kill her, I can see why that might be frustrating. But 4 gens were done and we'd been messing around the whole time so idk maybe she missed it

  • @PigMainClaudette said:

You were being a jerk for working together with a survivor and not playing the game. If people being upset by you wasting their time makes them a Karen, then so be it.

But I can see this will be a super constructive and good conversation already so feel free to smugly declare yourself the winner of the argument while I abandon thread.

Nah, she could have just done gens and left. Or she could have dc'd. Her going to the manager because people were having fun is what makes her a Karen. There was nothing "jerky" about what we were doing from my pov. If its against the rules its against the rules. Just seems stupid to me that people take the game THAT seriously.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1297175#Comment_1297175

If the clip shows obvious teaming between you and a survivor and also covers all important details (killer and survivor gametags) expect a mild temporary ban IF said "Karen" really spends her time reporting you with a ticket, video evidence and match subscription.

Most people don't submit a ticket and only use the in-game report which does absolutely nothing, though - so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

The worst thing you can do when you meet survivors you like is take advantage when a they decide to sandbag another survivor for you as it can meet the requirement for "teaming with the killer". If you want to farm and goof around just do so while ignoring those that don't want to participate.

Fair enough. It is what it is.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Then yes, it is bannable (you probably won't get banned assuming it's the first time you're doing it and that she actually reports it) and no, I will not "laugh at the Karen" because you were being a jerk.

Some of us don't have a ton of free time so having a game ruined by a survivor and a killer working together instead of getting to play the game as intended is super irksome.

I was being a jerk for giving her free points? Ok karen 😂😂😂😂😂

Honestly if i did get banned it would be a favor 😂

I just feel like it wasnt "teaming up" like that since i wasnt going to kill her 🤷‍♂️

  • @Yamaoka said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1297149#Comment_1297149

That's a bannable offense named "working/teaming with the killer".

Alright so 1) Wouldnt i have to kill her for that rule to apply?

And 2) lets say it was against the rules, is it out right bannable or just a suspension?

  • @tippy2k2 said:

It's only against the rules if it is being used to grief them (knock them down, survivor picks them up, you knock them down again; that kind of thing).

Basically if you are forcing them to participate in your farming and taking them hostage to do it is when it is against the rules

One of the girls sandbagged her and i downed her, but then she immediately dc'd. I wouldnt have stopped her from doing gens and leaving 🤷‍♂️

I came across a video earlier that showed a bug where two killers got into a single match. Got me thinking, in some alternate game mode where it was like 2v6 or 2v8 or something and you could bring 2 killers into a match, how would that change the game? What strategies would the killers adopt? Above all, what would the craziest killers combinations be?

Imagine if two killers could play SWF? EPIC!

Disclaimer: I'm aware in the current games implementation this would not be balanced or fair. Speeds and objectives and obstacles would have to be different, just roll with me. I wanna hear your crazy killer combo ideas.

Me, personally, I'd take a doctor to find them and make them scream, and get a Pig in there to stalk them while they're running from imaginary docs.

Just curious what is your player level?

I've been rank 1 as both survivor and killer since September 2018, the reason red rank killer games are more frustrating then lower rank games is due to how survivors focus on completing their objective. Which is completing generators.

The biggest issue with DBD is that survivors are able to complete generators too quickly, even if you are applying a lot of pressure.

Going by your post I assume you've been having survivors swarm you, trying to get you to chase them. What you have to remember if you get all the survivors trying to swarm you, trying get you to chase them, as they are not working on generators it will make your objective of sacrificing them easier.

I'm assuming you're still new to the game, but there are a lot of tutorials available on Youtube about structures and how to counter common loops as killer. Plus there are many Youtubers who upload a lot of killer gameplay, who you can learn from. The videos I'm linking are old but they have helped me to get better as a killer.

You don't need add ons to play as a killer and it doesn't take long to build up a large pool of add ons to use anyway. I am not arguing that killers deserve less bloodpoints than survivors. No one is trying to take killers bloodpoints away. My argument is that my time is just as important when I play a survivor as when I play killer. My time deserves equal compensation.

And im fine with survivors getting more bps, but i do think its fair for you to lose your add ons just like the killers do

  • @Dreamnomad said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1294538#Comment_1294538

It absolutely does not cost more bloodpoints to play as a killer. That is a fallacy. In terms of how many bloodpoints it takes to get all the survivor perks to rank 3 vs all the killer perks to rank 3, it takes substantially more bloodpoints for survivors since there are more survivor perks than killer perks. Also, there is no such thing as "killer bloodpoints" and "survivor bloodpoints". You should be able to play whatever you want, earn a reasonable amount of bloodpoints for your time and then spend them on whatever you want. The way it works now, if you wanted to level up a survivor the most efficient way to do it is to play killer. On what planet does that make sense?

Im talking about game to game. You can go into a game as survivor with no items or add ons and be just fine. Killer you need add ons. So the cost of a game is more than for a survivor

  • @Chatkovski said:

You can only read the end, but I strongly advise you to read the whole argument before reacting negatively, as providing an answer may be very easy for me.

    Some preliminary truths:

    1. camping is a legitimate strategy.
    2. no one has the right to judge how the other plays, nor the right to prevent the other from having fun.
    3. camping essentially results in a killer wishing to limit his search and hunt for survivors as much as possible, to avoid the condition of accession to his main objective as much as possible.
    4. survivors are not the only ones able to advance the game by repairing generators, the game also progresses when the killer kills survivors.
    5. being hidden is part of the survivor's gameplay.
    6. EGC exist.

    Some logical deductions:

    A. Logically deducted from points 1 and 3: genrush is not the right reaction against camping. We must not accept and participate in the acceleration of the game (of which the killers complain), but act the opposite, which will also be a legitimate strategy.

    B. Points 2 and 5: the survivors are free to play while remaining hidden.

    C. Points 4 and 6: point B does not result in a hostage taking, since advancement of the game is perfectly possible. The killer can find the survivors and kill them, the game progresses. It depends on the killer. There is no hostage taking, there is only a killer who is inexperienced or refuses to seek the survivors. The last survivor do not block the game since he can escape through the hatch, or through a door, or die with the mechanics of the EGC.

    Some additional observations:

    • staying hidden without repairing the generators in no way prevents the survivors from having the same objective: to escape. Just like camping, focusing on one goal: killing one survivor. Staying hidden is therefore a coherent and legitimate strategy: stay alive the longest and escape. Every survivor works actively to achieve this goal by remaining hidden. Survivors are not forced to act for the escape of all survivors just as a killer is not forced to act to kill all survivors.
    • there is already a mechanism for actually punishing inactive survivors, and it is a mechanism that does not consist solely in the loss of emblem points. Hiding is obviously different from being inactive.
    • since all of this is perfectly legitimate, and fun for me, all of this can be done against any killer, no matter how they play: the killer must adapt.
    • killers complain that the generators are repaired too quickly, this strategy gives them total satisfaction.

    TL; DR:

So, help me build the perfect stealth survivor.

I'm thinking about a locker to bush survivor: Urban Evasion + Distortion + Left Behind + Wake Up!

However, Calm Spirit, Object of Obsession, Diversion, Fixated and Spine Chill also seems interesting to me.

The objective is to avoid as much as possible the main condition for escaping, by remaining hidden, and to escape by the hatch or by a door, maybe being the last survivor alive. It is a legitimate strategy : the survivor can escape or can be found and killed, just like camping.

Together, killers and survivors, let's be tolerant, unbiased, and accept that everyone can have fun with this game.

I think playing stealthy is a legit strategy, tge best survivors are stealthy, and then once tgey are found are able to force the killer into a chase thats 30 to 45 seconds at least. If you can do both of those things youve wasted a considerable amount of their time.

That said...you should absolutely be working gens. With how fast gen speeds are its tge best strategy to get everyone out...not just yourself.

If you play your way and escape every game im pretty sure youre going to be stuck in green ranks as youre not getting much altruism, chase or objective points

I'm thinking on basement build: Misterious Shrine + Agitation + Iron Grasp + Bloodwarden

  • @DelsKibara said:

To me, tunneling is ignoring every other Survivor in the match even if they are literally giving you free hits just to ruin the game for one other person.

Camping on the other hand is when a Killer refuses to leave the hook even though it's disadvantageous for him to do so.

I agree with tgese except id say you can camp whether its disadventagious or not. If its to your advantage do it, i sure do, but its still camping.

I don't know how you guys did it but 9 times out of 10 a killer has been leaked or accurately speculated at least a week or more before the PTB. I remember Ghostface and Oni leak, Netflix clues on the Demo, or "Gunslinger", the community found out way too soon but this time we have no idea. As much as I like figuring it out early as much as the next guy, I liked having to find out the new killer and playing them right away instead of counting down the days to play them because I found out too early. This amount of hype can be dangerous though, let's hope the new killer lives up to the team and the players' expectations.

Let's see... on one side of the equation you have Trapper who:

    1. Can... place traps

On the other side, you have Freddy who:

    1. Automatically puts survivors asleep, with very limited options to wake up
    2. Has the oblivious status effect at all times against sleeping survivors
    3. Has 10 puddles to slow survivors down and make them scream, or 10 fake pallets that can be placed an unlimited number of times
    4. The ability to teleport to any uncomplete generator

Tell me again there is nothing disparagingly wrong with this killer?

I mean you can sit and do math about it all you like, it doesn't apply to every games scenario.

Generators are the biggest problem in the game, simple fact on both sides...boring dumb mechanic that separates players in the game. It would be better to have everyone working together to solve stuff to escape whilst running around the map trying to avoid the killer etc...but they said they would never change the core of the game which is sad really because imagine this game without the dull basic mechanic of Generators and instead survivors had to find items hidden around the map and join them together or whatever before they leave. I don't believe this would cause it to be linear as the devs have said they don't want people to be learning the easy escape strats...when reality is that is what is already happening with gen spawns etc...

Its not about game scenario, its about what is possible. And right now because of that 19 secs, the only way the killer wins is if the survivors make mistakes. Luckily they do, a lot, but when they dont you get those games that felt impossible to win. Cause they were

I honestly just don't want Pennywise to be added into the game unless they find an actual logical reason that makes sense inside the lore of the game. Other than just "Making a deal", which again won't happen.
