If the goal is to win, this is a smart play. There's absolutely no denying that. If the goal is something else like "fun" or "bps" then yeah this isnt the way to go.

Sweaty killers versus sweaty survivors will make no difference to nearly any of the community as that's like the top 1%.
If stats show that average players struggle after MMR changes, of course make changes to balance this better, but the MMR change is really only going to affect top ranked players, as that's where to really good survivors will be. Lower MMR killers should have a hay day because high ranked killers can easily smash lower ranked survivors, showing a skill gap between the average player and good players.
Well see, i dont think thats how its going to go.

Have you seen statistics on this? Any streamers I watch is 3k+ on average, both of my friends who play killer also average 3k+ and one was a green rank a few days ago that just got up to rank 6 and only has 200 hours on the game.
If people are averaging less than 2, that's not on the game balance. That's on their poor game play. If my friend with 200 hours in the game can do it, so can others, and he makes A LOT of mistakes in his matches. He streams it for my other killer main friend and I on Discord.
Many killer mains that play really well average a high kill ratio, which is indictive of the game balance right now. They play the killer optimally, we don't. They will still get stomped against really strong survivors, but again, that is very obviously far and few as I see less than a handful of games where a streamer gets less than a 3k during their stream.
Thats because the matchmaking and ranking system are broken. If youre always playing "strong survivors" then those averages are going to drop. A broken mm system doesnt make the game balanced

Trap setting speed used to be worse than it is now. Like many have already said he should start with more traps. My complaint is unless you have a bloody coil, which is ultra rare, there is zero negatives for disarming traps. The time it takes us to pick it up and arm it is nothing compared to how fast they can disarm it.
If you run the trap setting buff addons, them disarming traps is no linger a problem. In fact it acts as a quasi aura perk since you now know where someone is. If theyre running around disarming traps they arent doing gens and you know where they are. Rearming the traps now is easy since they fixed that.
Ive been running infectious, bbq, knockout and deerstaler with a bag and a honing stone. Been wrecking all day so far.

I really just want him to start with 2 or 3 traps as base kit. Help his set up time a bit.
Thats it, though id also buff his trap setting speed a touch. Like a quarter to a half a second. Something lile that

@Steel_Eyed said:
- You will find many of your complaints are universal issues for killers that need to be overcome in order to win. Winning chases, removing pallets, slowing gens are part of the game. If you do well in a few of these areas, when the map compresses the game gets easier and easier even against the skilled survivors.
- Trappers power is on the cusp of being broken. The wrong buff in the name of QoL could make it absolutely bad for the game. Imo he needs to be hindered to offset how strong the power is.
Are you serious? 😂

You discounted my comment on all the streamers who all seem to do very well on killer while also reading chat. All MMR will do is make sure super sweaty killers go against super sweaty survivors, making the game fun for none of the above. It will help for lower ranks and *hopefully* fix the rainbow colors. But again, ALL players are with or against rainbow colors. It can skew data, but people act like 4 man rank 1 elite survivors are the only thing they get which is far from true. It's actually extremely rare.
Many killer streamers don't have a hard time securing at least 3k+ per match. MMR is only going to make the lives of high MMR players, killer and survivor, living hell as everybody is going to be try Harding because they feel like they have to.
I also said fairly balanced. Not very. Killers haven't received huge buffs. Freddy and Doctor were reworked sure to being bad, yes, but Spirit and Nurse were nerfed and ruin was changed. Not exactly nerfed. It was nerfed for lower ranks for sure, but was heavily buffed for killers with strong map pressure. It was a nerf for some and buff for others.
Clown and Trapper both received QoL changes at best, not even true buffs. These are really the only changes I can think of that have happened in the past year.
Gens are problematic, I will agree. Early game pressure is an issue for killers, but the game isn't as imbalanced as people claim. It's doing alright. Still needs fixing of course, but not as bad as people claim.
Uh...did you read my comment? Because what I said included the words "across the board" which would include streamers reading chats. Ive been tracking my stats and average 3.2 kills per game, but i know the difference between a team of potato's and good survivors and theres way more potatos than there should be. Of course good killers are getting 3ks most games. Its fine if you dont believe me, everyone will see when mmr goes live. Because the imbalances in this game are going to become glaringly obvious.
-
@NightWolfsFury said:
The thing about killer is people put way too much weight into "I need to 4k to win" mentality, which isn't true at all.
0 kills means you got stomped. 1 kill means you lost. 2 kills mean you went even, both sides played well overall. 3 kills means you won. 4 kills means your stomped them.
This game overall is fairly balanced for the most part. A statistic was released that the killer with the lowest win rate on their worst map still had a 52% kill rate, which is VERY balanced when you think about it. Their worst map, they still kill at least 2 survivors on average.
People just need to get out of this mind set of where they must 4k to win. It isn't true. You will WANT to 4k, but you don't need to for it to be considered a tie or win.
The problem with this is those numbers are inflated across the board for a few reasons.
First and most important due to a poor matchmaking system I get rainbows a lot. I faced 3 20s yesterday in a game. Also due to a poor ranking system theres a lot of taters in ranks 3 and 4. A few at rank 2 but thats more rare. Tge point is between these 2 things my kill rate is way higher than it should be. People think im playin, im not, if they put in an mmr that actually functions youre going to see kill rates plummet because the best killer against tge best 4 man swf swat is still going to lose more often than win and even when he wins hes going to be miserable doing it. When that happens its going to have a domino effect and youre always going to be going against survivors that are just slightly to good. The games goinh to become a sweatfest.
2) dcs and suicides count as kills. If someone dcs or suicides at the beginning im being handed a 4k on a silver platter in almost all cases.
Ill also point out if its the numbers i think youre talking about theyre pretty old. Since those numbers came out weve seen them nerf ruin then shrink a bunch of maps, remove infinites and buff the ######### out of 2 killers. MOST of the changes theyve made have benefitted killers. So if we go off their actions and not the numbers they gave us, it seems they are aware how imbalanced it is. We also know theyre doing something to slow down the beginning of the game, they wouldnt do that if the game was "very balanced."

Out of those 2 ideas, the 2nd one really does strike me as a fun idea! It gives an extra objective for survivors to do.
The reason I prefer that over 1 is that the game really needs some more diversity in game play options, and just working on totems is pretty much what survivors do already.
I like the idea of adding something new and challenging into the mix!
Yeah im good with either, just need something

Split up so it's more efficient buff to 120s then gen rushing is a problem as its not hard
Yeah its the splitting up. When survivors do that the only effective way Ive found to counter it reliably is to drag someone in the basement and hope theyre altruistic.
Im with the people that say extending the gen time directly is a bad call. I think holding m1 for 80 seconds is already boring enough. The game is in dire need of secondary objectives. Ive heard a few good ideas but the 2 I like the most are:
The number generators that can be actively worked on is equal to tge number of totems that have been broken until only 3 gens remain, tgen all of them can be worked on. 2 totems should be easy to find, 2 should be medium difficulty to find, 1 should be hard to find.
The other is the map is split into 4 quarters. For each quarter there is a lever, pulling the lever activates the generators in that quarter. No one quarter should have 3 gens (to prevent the killer from camping the best lever) and pulling a lever should take 20 to 30 seconds. Once a section has been activated survivors should be notified that gens in that area are ready, but the killer should not be.

Ngl, I thought MMR might bring balanced matches but it's actually becoming really stressful to have strong opponents aaaaalll the time. I want to have some chill matches in between.
Happens to me for both killer and survivor.
I dont know that its live yet but i have a feeling this games balancing issues are going to come to the forefront when decent killers are no longer being fed potato's

The base is actually 80 seconds. Do you and your friends split up and work gens seperately at tge beginning or are you bunching up?

I reveal him all the time. It takes a bit of practice but once you got it you got it. A good way to get practice is to drop a pallet then have a stare off. Youll get it right eventually

Oh my god this thing truly exists, when i heard that some ######### killers have maid this page, first i laugh and think "poor" little baby killer they fell victim and try to make a support group for dumb children.
Then, i red the comments and this page, and from there i definetely stop laughing, All those unsecure people, who need to camp for the win instead of use their tiny brains, are the most reason why the community as such a toxic reputation.
I play both side survivor rank 1 and killer rank 5, and i never had to camp to have fun, which is basicly the purproe of a game, thing that many of the kids on this page seem to forget. If your live depend of your win on DbD, i'm really sorry for you, maybe your parents should have use some condoms to protect mankind from such degenerated child.
To those who really wich to progress, here is the right strat to use, choose a patern of 3 or 4 gens and secure them, of course survivors will have the time to do 3 gans, but you will see that only a few survivor take a look at the parten and nearly always have issues to do the 2 last gens.
With just a little brain and practise you will easily done 2 or 3 kills following this tacts, and realised that the game is quite more fun than while you use camping techs.
I will simply conclude by this, this game is based on "slasher" movies, have you ever seen one of this film? Did the killer win at the end? Of course no, he took some kill, and failed in the end. Playing killer is supposed to be hard and a 4 kills game should be rare, but all this crying babies who needs camping, tunneling and slugging to win, destroy all the fun in this game. It 's because of them, that we now have a stupid end game timer, which just give the win to the killer, exept if you can handle the 24% door techs. It-s because of them that "mantle of men", a very good perk, which was the only reason to buy ash, was nerf. It 's them, always victim, who constently ask that survivors perks to be nerf and of course, never ask themself about their gameplay, thinking they are best lmao.
To all of those, who will recognize themself, stop playing like toxic trash, use your brain, learn to have fun on a game, and if i meet you when i'm survivor forget your noed, i will clean it before it spaun and laugh when i see the perk on the board, because only lame player use it to compensate their hunting incompetence.
See you in the fog, if you can find me, and if you still use camping or tunneling, i hope you and everyone you care in this world, will know what is real pain and suffering.Enjoy It.
Kiss.

It makes sense to me because you’re ensuring you win the game with virtually no input from the survivors using cheap tactics, when you literally dont need to at that point in the match.
i just dont really understand why anyone would wanna just sit in a tent and look at survivors on a hook for 2 mins after 1 chase.
like, if you wanna do this go ahead, i couldn’t care less. i just don’t really understand how its fun
"Cheap tactics" is bs. They put themselves in the situation and there are like 15 second chance perks. If they coordinated they could come back from this. And i told you why, it puts the pressure on the survivors. Simple as that.

standing there to ensure 2 kills at 5 gens completely wins the game for you as killer, so yes, thats very much sweating in my book
but, the sole reason its sweating is because there’s 5 gens. Would understand more if you were at like, a couple gens or something

It is normal for a player to make the best use of what is available to him, that he is "smart", but this in no way constitutes an argument in favor of the existence of the actions that are allowed to him.

I can easily find situations where using a Mori was the best decision possible. Does this imply that nothing should change? No.
It's the same for camping, worse: it's not even an item, an addon, an offering, or even a perk. My opinion does not change: camping needs serious restrictions. Just like loopings have also been restricted, for example.
It already has restrictions. Perks exist to help counter it, the killer can lose points towards pips and if only 1 survivor is being camped from the start the other 3 have time to do almost all of the gens. Outside of that, what exactly are you expecting the devs to do?

While it is a good idea to camp in that situation and force a second state, it is incredibly boring to sit there for a while and not chase anyone. When I'm in this situation I just go for whoever I see on barbeque. It is also very boring on the survivor side when they get camped because they just sit there and you just sit there.
Oh I agree its boring, thats not really the point though. Neither is pipping or bps. If a killer is trying to win a game, which is 100% legit thing to want in a game, then in this particular scenario this is the best call. I dont always care about winning, sometimes i just want bps or im just playing for fun. In any case all are legitimate.
-
@HawkAyeTheNoo said:
If im one of they survivors and you're camping with 5 gens up im bailing from that game and finding another. I dont need the bp as most characters are maxed or care about rank so im loosing nothing but time.
The reason i continue to play DBD is for fun and fun only. If i dont find it in your game i'll go find it in another.
People will say "ooh but your teammates". I've been a solo survivor main for over 3 years, ive been screwed over by teammates and also screwed over my teammates, comes with the territory of soloing.
Thats what Nea did. She was out, and I dont blame her the game was over anyway.
-
@Mew said:
yes, its smart to camp in this situation, but do you really have fun standing still for 2 minutes?
i could understand if you were at 1 gen, but at 5 gens theres no reason to camp other than wanting to be sweaty and win with no real interaction with the other side
Its rare you end up standing there for 2 mins. What happened here was a steve came in to rescue kate and i slapped him. After 20 seconds or so nea said f it and suicided. Steve made another attempt and I went ahead and chased him allowing feng to save kate who was in the struggle state. At the end I gave Kate hatch, steve and feng died.
See that 2nd paragraph is why i made this thread. You expect me to give up a win and if i dont im a sweaty try hard. Thats bs. Im just standing there, i was neither sweating nor try harding. I forced the survivors into a position where THEY had to sweat and try hard, and I think thats what a lot of this boils down to. The survivor experience is for the most part pretty casual, so when they get pushed out of that comfort zone they react negatively.

The map is just not fun. If the game gives it to us by chance, fine, but im sick of being brought there.
People are tunneling Lisa so that the devs will notice peoples problem with her, and I think killers should do the same with Haddonfield so the devs fix the map. Even if they don't fix it, survivors would stop spamming that offering if killers facecamp and tunnel.
I do this if Im playing as bubba.

So in many sports and games, there are plays that are really good and beneficial to one player or team, but often come at a cost of being viewed as "cheap" or a "bad sport." I'm not exactly saying this is what it is now, but I guess it's what the gamers today call "sweaty." I respect it when a killer chooses to not tunnel a farmed survivor, for example. I wish there were more soft rules in place to help this.
I get that, but its not like people view splitting up to do gens as cheap even though it puts the killer at a serious disadvantage. It seems like an arbitrary thing to view as cheap. And sure, there are plenty of times I let survivors recover from misplays just to extend the game or punish a dick survivor, but its the expectation that I behave that way that I take issue with.
-
Its actually really good to run both. Bbq, discordance and pop work amazing together.

@Huff said:
You could probably think of a million slightly nuanced situations, but most will boil down to one thing: it's advantageous for you in that situation, and letting them go would be shooting yourself in the foot.
Now, it's up to each individual to decide if they really need to try that hard. It's not a sleight against people who want to win, just not everybody is interested in sitting there the whole time. For me personally, if they survivors aren't trying to be jerks, I'll happily walk away just so I can start looking for other things to do more quickly and not be bored.
I get that, my point is really that not everytime a killer camps is it personal. In fact it usually isnt.

If 3 gens are gone and the killer just got his first hook whats he supposed to do? Theres only 160 seconds left worth of gens at absolute maximum and he needs 11 more hooks or at least 3 more. Hes out of time. Forcing the survivors to be altruistic if they want an unhook isnt a stupid play.

@BaldursGate2 said:
It's always a smart play to camp the first survivor you hook. Winning with 3 remaining survivors is very hard and you most likely will win it. Survivors tend to get over altruistic most of the time. If they aint having kindred and only one tries to save the hooked one, another one will thinking, nobody is there, so he gets off the gen as well and wasting time, not knowing you camp.
Of course, if you want a sweaty game, don't camp, but it's the best option to secure a win.
Idk about always. 3 survivors that are smart can have almost all 5 gens done in 2 mins. Theyll be pretty close anyway. If you camp the 2nd person thats all youre getting. Thats assuming theyre not overly altruistic of course.

I had to camp the basement yesterday as Old Man because of pesky Survivors. Both exits were also prepped. Funnily enough, my dedication to guarding the top of the basement stairs earned me a 3k versus a 1k (the person who was already in the basement)... got some GGs after the game, too! I guess they realized that they didn't play smartly at the end-game... 😛
In your case though, I guess you just have to make the choice between points or an ez game. Skipping hooks on Survivors doesn't bode well for your score, but there's always the risk that they gain momentum after they're unhooked and pull off a win. I personally would not have camped in that situation, especially with 5 generators left, since I like for my games to go on a bit longer and earn more BPs in the long run.
Remember: The simple, ez 4k isn't what gets you the points... it's the hooks, hits, chases, e.t.c.!
Yeah as far as bps go youre right, but I get a ton of those anyway. If a survivor is gone early I can take my time, play around, get plenty of downs and hits to make up for it. If I even care which half the time I dont

Truetalent is (in my opinion) the best player in dbd along with otzdarva. True streams dbd for 8 hours a day,and plays every killer to a very high level (besides the hag). Some months ago he did 2 experiments. 1: He did a full day of playing ghostface and claimed he was the third best killer in the game after spirit and nurse. 2: He did a full day of wraith and claimed he was the fourth best killer. When true did these experiments, a lot of people did a complete 180 on these killers and their mind was changed by him. True says that he is going to do a full day of leatherface soon because he thinks he is underrated. True's playstyle with leatherface is to brute force every pallet with pwyf and nemesis and not go for any basic attacks. Whenever he reaches a pallet, he doesn't respect it and revs up the chainsaw and the survivor goes down, because they wouldn't expect it. However if the survivor drops the pallet on him, he gets a pwyf stack, which will benefit him a lot. I am very curious for what he is going to say, when he does a full day of leatherface. You can find a video of his playstyle here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eM_LfcW3YL8
With a very specific build and addons yes leatherface is good. But thats true of all killers and thats what makes the weak killers weak. I can run whatever dumbass meme build i want on Freddy and there are people that can do tge same with nurse billy spirit, and well still do fine in game. Thats not true for LF.

Its like bitching about moris and keys. Yeah its annoying (as is iri) but until the devs change it theres 0 reason to send hate mail to simeone as its part of the game.

My first 10 minutes today i had at least a 3 man, possibly 4 head on squad with a cocky annoying claud on their team. I hadnt even finished mt coffee yet and they found ruin before tge first gen popped. I managed to keep my cool. Only chased claud when i knew i had time, slaughtered all 4 and got merciless with 1 gen left
