2v8 needs to be brought back, it's the best mode for casual players. 1v4 sucks.

My Wesker friend was playing 2v8 like crazy because there's A LOT of survs BS that can't be done there.
BUT I think the reason you're saying this is because how bad 1v4 is right now. This same friend decided to stop playing killer until Chaos Shuffles end (it will begin immediately after Blood Moon ends).
Says that he's getting very competent survs even with killers he barely play or with the ones he purposely play to lose only to complete challenges.
Split queues + VERY BAD MMR = this scenario where 1v4 is unfun AF.
I think it's the same issue you're having.

  • @Emeal said:

Is the Killer supposed to be able to vault and insta hit a Survivor, cause Im seeing alot of that.
I would have thought BHVR would be ontop of bugs like this now.

If you stay too close to the vault Kaneki and Wesker WILL hit you.
    It's an intended feature.
Thing is this is bugged (not happens 100% of the time), but survs can't vault back against Kaneki because his hitbox is larger, which is not the case for Wesker. Sometimes the scumbags will vault back unpunished.

NOTE: scumbags because they know they should get slapped, but try their luck anyway because of the bug.

Do Wesker and Bright have an ability cooldown when the pallet is destroyed?

No, but if they add it AND the possibility to cancel their power I would be completely fine with it since the cooldown is almost non-existent.

    @Stibfa said:

Nerfing the cancel cooldown would make him useless in any loop and destroy his skill ceilling, the problematic thing about him is the vault that i can i agree with but if you touch his cancel any fun to be had on this killer is dead, and he turns i to a legion 2.0

    Ok then. Makes sense.
BUT the cooldown before you can M1 needs to be increased.
OR keep it the way it is now, but make him keep sliding. That way he would have to use the cancel at the right moment so when he stop sliding he would be close to the surv. Cancel too late/too close to the surv and you'll past him/her and land in China.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

Exactly, I didn't notice any changes to his gameplay. Still oppressive and unfun.

Spent yesterday playing like a madman to farm BP and 90% of the matches Kaneki was the killer.Didn't saw anything different/changes were too small.

    @Thusly_Boned said:

If by "one small step" you mean like 85-90% of the way there, you're right. I don't expect much more is coming, and I don't think it should be. The vault speed is pretty much it.

And the Kaneki can't down you with his dash, which is what differentiates him from Blight/Wesker.

There will almost certainly be more refinement, but I'd be shocked if they nerf him out of S-tier.

Makes sense what you said about the dash, but the cooldown between it and being able to M1 is pretty bad/needs to be increased.

    @LordHeXaGoN said:

Enrage by itself is a problem its just easy to get.
Nerf its timer or cooldowns will affect him very badly.

Mb they need to make his enrage something he should earn before he will be able unstopable/
Its just easy to get now, i wont have problems with it, if it would be something he should earn.

    Yeah.
The issue is indeed the vault speed.

  • @Wezqu said:

It has nothing to do with interaction choices that is a bug. Its been reported before and happens because survivor has head on and it sometimes prevents the killer from picking them out of the locker if the another person is downed in front of it.

    Didn't knew that.
Regardless, killers need an extra button to map these actions separately.

  • @jesterkind said:

I think it's premature to claim Pentimento's dead in the water before we've even seen what its new numbers are. There are definitely numbers it could have that'd make it worth running, especially since you're inherently pairing it with other hexes.

Overall, the state of killer perk variety is doing pretty well, and a lot of tools that get nerfed are still completely worth bringing if you're not expecting them to be big central cornerstones of your build. Pain Res, Grim Embrace, and DMS may be those and can stand on that pedestal, but perks like Deadlock, Eruption, Surge, Gift of Pain, and a couple more complement basekit pressure and slowdown perfectly fine.

That's obviously just slowdown, too, plenty of viable non-slowdown perks exist. Outside the scope of this change, but worth remembering.

Not to say nothing could improve, of course, just that I think the current state of things is being overblown here.

For me the big issue is the aura reading.
    WHY?!
Now Pentimento will only be useful on TP or dash killers and you HAVE to bring something that will lit all totems and then go 0 to 5 in one go because if you don't survs will see the aura of the lit totems and cleanse/only viable way now is to get all 5 for the block effect.

  • You can take a peek at any lvl of an evt tome by simply selecting a reward from it and pressing the correspondent button to "go to the evt tome".
BUT something different happened with my friend. He is doing the challenges from lvl 2.
How? He said he accidentally pressed RB to go to the Current Tome tab the exact moment he was getting the lvl 1 rewards (clicking on the "Eye" at the end of the path) and this somehow let him go to the lvl 2, select the challenges and indeed complete them.

ngl i would love to see some sort of blood offering/blood altar where the killer can put in blood (gotten by hitting survivors/interacting with blood gens. wich if reached a certain threshold gives a permanent buff (for example increased lunge range) (survivors can deny this by "cleansing" the altar (same animation as invocation) but once the threshold is met its permanent. This would make it so both sides can interact with the event but would also solve a little bit of the issue of gen rushing because survivors wil have to cleanse these altars to not give the killer free buffs.

    Damn!
    Great idea!😍

    That too?!
    I didn't noticed.πŸ˜‚

  • @Bodark said:

Yes the gens are devastatingly fast. I wish killers got something new to do. At least in the last version we got an insanely huge M1 lunge. In this one we only get nerfed. Kind of strange but oh well.

According to night light, badham preschool 1 has the highest killrate (of all the variants) at 52, and the 5th variation has 44% kill rate, the lowest map kill rate. So it makes sense why they would just keep the 1st variation

    Makes sense.
    Thanks for the info 😁

  • @MoZo said:

just be happy they didn’t keep badham II. That map was so busted since there was like 5-6 fillers outside of shack that could be connected almost infinitely

  • @Daniel_Silva04 said:

Absolutely not, this variation is the fairest of all. And yet it continues to be broken for survivors.

    Really?
For me this one is the worst.
All of the 5 are bad actually, but IV seems to be the least worst.
MAYBE they left this one because it's the one that's gonna be reworked for Operation Health? Who knows.😁

  • @Fluffylynxie said:

I also noticed there's a lot of issues trying to pallets on him for a save because of his hitbox especially if he is turned sideways. It's annoying that a killer gets an exception to a gameplay mechanic because of their hitbox.

That's something that needs to be addressed indeed.

This is actually a common tactic against wraith. I am surprised you have no seen that before, yes it forces you to uncloak or at least fake it to make the survivor move on so you can break the pallet.

    @DemonicDemons said:

I just had a match where this Lara Croft kept instantly vaulting back and forth over the same vault not allowing me to break it while I was in the wraith invisible mode I had to fake coming out of it to get her to run away she did this no joke 13 times before I decided to come out of the mode, there should probably be a cooldown on how fast you can jump back over a vault or at the very least set it to 3 vaults before blocking the vault

    Indeed a common tactic.
BUT this is not a bug. Vaulting back against Wesker and Kaneki is. Survs are suppose to take a hit if they try this, but it does not work 100% of the time (bugged).

thanks! I mean I’m open to them toying with some angles so killers can see their skins more. I hate when i buy or get skins in a game(looking at you Diablo) but can’t really appreciate them bc of camera angles or pov. I think there’s some wiggle room without just giving away everything considering zoom or even adding a blurred effect to surroundings when it happens.

I also have to say that this is a great idea!😍

  • @buggybug said:

Tbh I wouldn't mind if survivors get 1st person view and killer 3rd person. I wonder if they think killer in third person will be too easy?

MAYBE the killer model in the middle of the screen would give survs some sort of advantage they don't have now with killers being 1st person.
A while back BHVR made a survey asking about which modifier from a list you would like to see coming to the game and the Switched Perspectives (surv in 1st and killer in 3rd) was one of them. Hope they don't scrap this idea so we could test these things out.

  • @Na1ts1rhc said:

Solid. Could be good for info as well - seeing if there's anyone hugging your back for the save etc.

I would love extra info as well, but foreseeing that people could complaint that the killer is getting a buff is the reason I, for example, said "hooking" only and not "while you have a surv in your shoulders".
Would be pretty sick to be able to be in 3rd person while walking towards a hook for the hooking.😁

I'll post here what I wanted to have added in there:

It's hard to know if these changes are indeed good without any visual or even gameplay.
On paper they seems to be pretty good.😁
And thank you guys for this new direction of asking us what we think about this kind of big changes!😍
    Seriously.

And talking about us helping you, there's another thing to add regarding this: asking for outside help is needed because sometimes you guys are so "isolated" in your own world that you let basic stuff unattended or make bad decisions about simple things and then one of us point that out and you guys at BHVR end up looking like fools, like "why we didn't thought about this? It's so straightforward. We dev this game and did this mistake/didn't saw/thought this basic stuff". This is not a critique on you guys specifically, but humans in general anywhere in the world. We need help from people outside our boxes. They can see better other things that we sometimes overlook or didn't noticed.
I would say all that even if I was one of you guys in there at BHVR and would be pretty happy with someone pointed out things like that to me (I do get happy indeed when someone outside my box gives me an obvious tip with anything in my life).😁

Thank you SO MUCH for going this direction!😍

  • Skull Merchant is BY FAR the killer who got most affected by one of the issues still plaguing this game: dumb/lazy survs.

  • Between all challenges from all books this one is indeed one of the most stupid.
Saboing a hook while 10m from the killer while he/she is carrying a surv is pretty strict, but you have a good amount of chances to complete it in each match, but this one? GOD DAMN IT!

When this challenge comes me and my friend do it together. When we win a match one of us purposely fakes a huge screw up trying to make fun of the killer to get hooked so the other can complete this crap.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Well, a base Corrupt for totems could be nice. Kind of like that Dracula perk, or does that only block chests?

That would be better than nothing, but this wouldn't keep the surv to remembering where the HEX is and coming back after the block timer expires to cleanse it.
I think a better idea is to make HEX totems effects be active at the start of a trial as it is now, but only light up a minute after the match started and, of course, light up only on available totems to prevent the low chance of a surv spawning close to one and proceed to cleanse or bless it.

  • Played a lot of 2v8 with my Wesker friend and he was using the new RE4R skin + Shadow class.
We realized that this is Wesker most "ordinary" look and having no TR made him look like a surv. He did A LOT of grabs in our matches. Even I sometimes would try to punch him on how "survy" he looks when he crossed in front of me.πŸ˜‚
With this in mind he decided to try a for fun stealth build (Plaything, Trail of Torment, Dragon's Grip and Pentimento for some form of gen defense) with this skin and so far it's working to give him wins and heart attacks for survs.

He also "coached" me these days to find flaws in my Nemesis gameplay and to find a suitable build for him.
His first idea had flaws and I ended up losing, but the next 9 matches I ended up winning with his second idea of a Nemesis build. It's not fun, but works pretty great.
I hope Operation Health does something so survs can't makes gen fly like rockets (maybe FINALLY a native 2nd objective for them) so I too can find a fun build.

  • Iron Will being 100% is definitely annoying, but for me it's only when I'm trying to find the last two survs and this should be "fixed" when the anti-rat mechanic comes.

  • @DeBecker said:

Its not a bug. And literally nobody does this for a reason: its ineffective beyond anything.

If you ask me, can confirm.

Quite important to stop and play other games for a while and dont force yourself to play.

Also helps if you just stop caring of everything and just "go". There is a point where no matter what, you will get flammed xD

I guess that deep down I'm too damn competitive and still care what people think of me.
If I play surv I consider a Gold or Iri Evader emblem a win even if I die. Killer feels like you're lying to yourself if you get a 4E and still think that you did great even when you ended some chases in a awesome/smart way.

    Thanks for the tip, but…
    How would this help exactly?πŸ˜…

    @angel_pellegrino said:

I don't play killer anymore because I find the "killer anxiety" to be just too unpleasant. For me, I think what causes a lot of it is how survivors act just over me just casually playing the game. I'm not even going into games with a super competitive playstyle or meta build and I still get lots of tbags, nods and pointing, and people hanging out at the exit gates, almost getting sacrificed to the entity because they just want to get in that last tbag. If it happened on a few occasions, that would be one thing. But it happened frequently enough that I found myself preferring to play in custom matches instead.

It's interesting to me that in game about a killer hunting down a group of people, I've always found survivors to be a lot scarier than the killers. Maybe it's because I just expect the killer to try and get their kills in the fastest, most efficient way possible. Some of the stuff survivors do just comes completely out of left field. And, for me really feels a bit more insulting and personal in tone.

For me is not exactly how they act (tbags, nods, hanging at exit, etc), but the things they can do to counter the killer.
Not saying that using flashlights, flashbangs, sabo hooks and etc is wrong, but's infuriating AF.
Have to agree that survivors are WAY more scarier than the killer in this game. The killer is just a jester/clown.

Had that when I started playing. At this point though, playing killer feels like doing the dishes. You know you often dont want to do it, but youve done it often enough that it becomes routine.

Dont stress yourself when playing a video game. Real life is already stressful enough.

    Makes sense.

    @Pulsar said:

Maybe when I was first playing but it faded for me after a while.

Just about mindset for me, personally. Once I figured out I could set the tone of the match just as much as Survivors could, it faded away pretty fast.

I would say making an occasional "no no" to survs when they do something REALLY bad or stupid indeed made it better.πŸ˜‚

    @tjt85 said:

When I first started playing, I certainly did feel a degree of "Killer anxiety". But this was mostly down to the bully squads that purposefully hang out at low MMR in order to torture the new Killer players.

These days, however, it's the more relaxing role for me. I just stick on Iron Grasp and Lightborn to be ready for the Flashy saving sabo squads and I'm chilling. I don't really care too much if I lose a few Killer trials because I know I can switch characters for some variety in my games and I'll typically get at least a couple of wins during a play session.

That said, I would not touch Killer if I'm playing on my Nintendo Switch. The kinds of Survivors I go up against on a regular basis would eat me for breakfast on that platform. Trapper is my only viable Killer on Switch because catching Survivors in your traps is the same on any platform. It's so bad, I consider a 2K a "win" on Switch. I feel like I've totally ruined the Killer experience for myself by linking cross-progression to my Switch account. So yeah, it's definitely a stressful time playing Killer on Switch.

I will admit I did experience quite a bit of anxiety when playing 2V8 with another Killer. Especially if I played poorly and couldn't get any pressure or cages, I felt like I'd let the other player down. But it might not have felt so bad if they hadn't been waiting so long in a queue to play.

I guess part of what I like about Killer and Solo Q Survivor is that they are primarily solo experiences. You don't have to worry so much about letting others down because you're mostly playing for yourself and self reliance becomes more the focus of the game play loop.

for me it’s about getting embarrassed that I get somewhat worried about when I play killer. Losing for me is not an issue. I have had many draws and losses that I felt I played well and I was positive about. I have also had some terrible games where I can’t do anything and the survivors rub it in your face. It sucks and while those experiences I can’t forget, I always try to go in just hoping for just a few good plays.

I guess another part of that nervousness is the fact that you are alone. I think many can agree that in 2v8 the losses feel better because you’re with a partner.

I feel like if you asked this maybe 4 or 5 years ago then I think everyone would agree that people would have anxiety as killer as back then survivors were the power role and had way more ridiculous stuff to use against you. The devs have made improvements that the feeling about being nervous has gone down significantly

I did watch the entire video to get the full context. And god was this video tough to get through

    @GlamourousLeviathan said:

I feel like killer anxiety is mainly caused by the fact that you are in a 1v4. So if you are getting bullied, it is you alone against 4 people. It never feels good to be ganged up while you are alone, and people who have experienced this at school can say as much.

On that note, I have talked with people about 2v8 and they have said that they are much less anxious when playing killer in that mode. Even though there are 8 people ok the other side, the fact that the killer has a buddy to back them up helps them relax. Humans are a social species after all, so being with someone else makes us feel more secure.

    That's how I feel about 2v8 too.
You have a partner to "alleviate the burden", but I also think that survs not being able to frustrate EVERY SINGLE ONE of your hook attempts also helps.
AND when you have 6 to 8 survs escaping and then go to the results screen and see that you scored 32K and your partner less than 20K you end up laughing because 1v8 is impossible to win🀣

    Dualsense Edge.

Gives you two paddles to choose from, three different analog sticks, lets you customize how far down you push the buttons (as we have adaptive triggers), and custom analog stick sensitivity.

Upon further analysis, you can do both. They say the Nacon Revolution 5 is more durable and doesn't experience stick drift as much from what I can see but I never heard of it until you mentioned it, haha! Makes me think twice on which controller to buy now. πŸ€”

Yeah, with the new Dualsense controllers - you can customize your sensitivity, your analog sticks, you can swap between paddles (large and small), it's easier to clean the thumbsticks, etc.

It's just like a super expensive controller, we're talking 100+ lol. I was thinking about buying it my next semester just so I can swap crouch to a backpedal. She says it was worth the investment, so yeah. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

Yes, my friend got the Dualsense Edge controller if you play on PS5, which allows you to control your sensitivity and play more like a PC player.

Obviously that shouldn't be the workaround, but at the same time like I've mentioned it's the only thing you can do as a survivor is to 360 or run at the killer. I didn't have as much of an issue when I was playing, at first I did, but after playing and watching survivors move β€” if you are patient and time your hit, you can catch them off guard. Not many survivors can routinely pull off multiple 360s over and over unless they're someone like Improbzz, which is a PC player. Not many people have the skill set to continue doing it over and over, at best one or two 360s.

But like I mentioned, you can practice with someone trying to 360 and timing your hits properly. If it was removed, it would just be a removal of skill expression that I feel like is slowly being taken away from the game regardless making a lot of the matches feel a bit "samey".

Edit: on further note, you could wait until they're done 360ing you and just hit them point blank. A survivor cannot continually keep 360ing over and over, at least from what I have seen even from popular streamers who have thousands of hours more than me.

    Damn!
How do I set up this magic with the Dualsense?
My issue is the stupid lag that playing on console has.

  • @CautionaryMary said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3891327#Comment_3891327

Ah, I'm a bit iffy about that one personally!

But I can see your point, at the same time - if a killer is zoning you, the only thing you can do is 360 or even try to run at the killer. I've done that in one of my chases in my compilation where I ran towards the Hillbilly after unhooking my friend and the Hillbilly missed point blank with his basic attack (I'm already injured as Dwight) - mind you, I'm literally just running past him like I'm passing Billy in a hallway of a school, haha.

What I would recommend for you to deal with that is more so focusing on the survivor and hitting them. A 360 is a risky maneuver because they are banking on the fact that you miss, but if you focus on the survivor, you can avoid being 360ed because they can only 360 so much before losing distance if that makes sense. 😊

    Thanks for the tips. 😁

My Wesker friend is on PC, so the way he deals with 360ΒΊ is always lunge and rotate with the surv. He almost never misses by doing this. I also try doing this, but being on console make this strategy not that much effective.

I understand your point about hugging the killer sometimes being the only way out, but if it comes to this and you have to exploit the killer's bad view I think the killer should be awarded with the hit.

That's basically impossible. Because the gen speed up/slow down mechanic in 2v8 is such good design (not), the survivors are gonna be flying on those gens the moment a few cages are made.

Comeback mechanics are SO DAMN STUPID in EVERY game they exist.
The winner gets punished for winning.

Are you talking about the FOV tech? Where like the survivor abuses the first person perspective to confuse the killer to avoid being hit?

    Precisely.

Well, there it is, lol. I was wondering if it was even possible.

I've also been on teams of some almost comically bad survs and still never saw anything close to an 8K at 8 gens, which is what got me thinking about it.

He's playing 2v8 as killer like crazy and I mean A LOT of matches indeed everyday, so the minimal possibility to get an 8K with 8 gens happened.πŸ˜„

  • Nemesis main here.
This exact reason is why when you get Undetectable from a perk or any other way that is not your power the killer should also have all his SFX muted.
Me and my friend Wesker started playing 2v8 and I was using Shadow. It was completely useless because of Nemesis dinosaur footsteps.
Now he uses Shadow and with the RE4R skin that is the most common/not "fantasy" look he has there's A LOT of survs who think it's one of them coming and my friend get a catch or free hit🀣
Hell, even I sometimes punch him when he appears in front of me thinking it's a surv.

Here's a video from my friend Wesker doing this.
Sadly the audio is desynched. It's a beta feature of Steam for now, so these desynchs happen sometimes.

He also said that he too played a match were the survs were SO BAD that he died on 1st hook and it ended with all survs killed without a single gen completed.

Yeah, 100% looks like a bug or exploit.

There is 360ing a Wesker, there is Wesker not having enough distance to hit the survivor, and even other types of counters you can do to Wesker.

No reason for her to have invincibility, especially in a 2v8 situation. That is indeed wildly suspicious.

    Too much suspicious.
And about the less than one meter thing = no dash: It's another situation that feels completely stupid that you have to hug the killer to avoid an attack. This should be addressed (and I know it's not a bug).

Yeah, from the clip it's very hard for me to notice what happened! 😭 Sorry, for the response to the initial one. It definitely does look like Feng Min for some odd reason crouched before being hit.

That is super odd to see, as I've obviously never seen it before.

It probably is either a bug or subtle cheats, it's crazy that with two killers there that she managed to get out completely unscathed - no down, no nothing. Was she cross-play?

    No worries 😁
We don't have the entire record anymore because of the PS5 immediately discarding anything that is not recorded and also my friend only exported this clip from his Steam record so we can't say which platform she was on, but I've reported her for Exploits just to be sure.

EDIT: forgot to clarify that we both do not posses the full record anymore.

Crouch tech does not affect Nemesis. -> Think of Huntress, Xenomorph, Deathslinger and other ranged killers.

The reason why survivors are able to crouch and avoid your whip attack is because of how Nemesis' hitbox is.

Think of a scenario where you are tier 3, break a pallet, and the survivor crouches to avoid getting hit by it - by design it is there to continue chase and allow counterplay.

Whereas view it from Demogorgon's, Blight's, and Hillbilly's perspective - these killers are charging directly at you, a survivor crouches to make their hitbox smaller, and the killer misses their main attack.

Put any of the other killers in this scenario, they will hit the survivor, but because there's an obstacle or object blocking the path - the survivor has counterplay to avoid being outright downed.

Put simply, avoiding a Nemesis attack isn't crouch tech at all.

Thanks for the time invested into this reply. :)
I'm ok with survs crouching the Tentacle and know it's by design.
What I want to point out is this crap that happened with my Wesker friend on the clip (it's from his YT account BTW).

  • I would be COMPLETELY satisfied if Gen Rushing and Tunneling/Camping got removed from the game somehow.
Both are braindead strategies that anyone with a low IQ can pull off.

  • Nops.
Doesn't need to be reverted at all. BHVR just need to add a condition to it that is if all other survs are on struggle you can immediately mori the surv on the ground.

  • Actually the bug can happen to ANY killer.
I've tried to catch a Meg opening a gate and when I did I, as Nemesis, got stuck the same way.
Catch/grabs are bugged. Something related to the transition to the automatic hook animation that sends the survs to the cages.
Thing is with Wesker this happens WAY more often because he's frequently grabbing survs

Na no one's waiting that long even when it first dropped the longest queue I've ever had had been around 19 minutes. I've also played all 3 exclusively as killer.

    For me it's basically a 10/15 min queue time for a 10/15 or even 20 minutes match.😁

People, for the most part, become loud when they are unhappy. When they enjoy something, they dont see any reason to speak up.

Thats why you see less positive posts around here.

    Makes sense.
