Its another reason why i hate casual players, but the devs are gonna do what they think is best to keep as much people happy as possible. Even if it means making a character terrible for survivors enjoyment (majority of players preferred role)

It's sad that this is SO true…

This is pretty wrong - since the game was out, there was no proximity chat. I am not sure if you talk about some Dev Build-features which were scrapped before the game went into Open Beta, but this is the first time I hear that. The Devs just simply did not implement SWF right from the start because of time constricts - they either implement Kill your Friends or Survive with Friends and they went with the first. SWF was joined soon after and was planned from the beginning.

That the game was designed without Voice Chat might be true, however you can assume that in 2016 the Devs were also considering that people will use Voice Chat when they play with each other. I mean, you cannot really ignore something like that in 2016.

And last but not least, Nurse was more a product of the game design. Back then the Devs had quite a poor understanding of Balance, which is why Nurse was created (she is a design failure like actual infinites or fast vaults without any requirements)… And possiblly also to counter infinites.

1-Crap. I wasn't around when Survive With Friends was a separate option instead of inviting friends to your lobby. Thanks for clarifying. 😊
2-Sadly we all know the fact that BHVR sometimes don't account for some things like BU + FTP. They probably envisioned the game to be balanced around having no Voice Chat and forgot you could use Discord. More specifically you could deny DbD access to your mic and allow it to Discord to fully bypass the proximity chat.
3-This makes more sense indeed. I'm sure she was made to counter infinites.

And talking about Nurse… she BADLY needs a rework. The way the Blinks work (going through walls and floors) should remain the same so Nurse players would not have all the skill lvl /muscle memory they've build over the years throw into the trash, but all the rest needs to be changed.
Maybe make her 4.4 or 4.6 and drastically change the way she get blink charges.
Making Nurse less of a menace would benefit all killers with better perks and other features because a lot of these needs to be mediocre to not be broken with Nurse.

Finally someone who gets it. All those survivors are terrible, the killers counterplay is clear, just read the fandom wiki an dknow her kit, its so easy

This is the same old issue that made Chucky getting ridiculously nerfed.
It's easy to cry for nerfs instead of learning the counterplay.

BUT I have to say that this killer is indeed overbuffed in some stuff (probably to increase sales), specially the dog's vault.
It's so ridiculous fast that the dog don't even have a vault animation anymore. It just teleports to the other side.

  • @Rudjohns said:

Killer's don't want to play the game to have fun with random perks, you know, trying to get value from them. They want to win no matter what. And because their build has no slowdowns they are playing as sweaty as possible. It also doesn't help when I am getting tunneled but I have Spine Chill, Cut Loose, Invocation and Still Sight

People don't understand the point of Chaos Shuffle I guess. I have more fun in normal queues than this mess, unfortunately.

Same can be said for survs forcing maps and bringing busted med-kits or toolboxes.

  • 4-STOP PUNISHING THE KILLER FOR HOOKING SURVS.

Even with tunneling being a thing survs being able to bring a full loadout of 2nd chance perks (in which most of them activates after unhooking) is stupid.

    5-ELIMINATE GEN RUSH

It's much more efficient to slug survs to make them stop working on gens. The issue here is, of course, not survs doing their objective, but speeding it up in a way the killer simply has no time to do theirs. And to be clear, Tunneling/Camping is braindead as much as Gen Rush is.

  • Gen Rushing is a braindead strategy that needs no skill to be pulled.
This is also true to Tunneling/Camping. Both these design flaws walk hand to hand/one leads to the other.
    Both should be eliminated.

  • Will drop a simple information here.
This game was not designed to have survs communicating exclusively between them. In the beginning there was a proximity chat that could be heard by the killer, but people playing with cellphone mics, listening to loud music without headphones (which made the other players listen to whatever their were listening) and other factors like these made BHVR remove this feature entirely.

And DbD was also not designed to be a Catch game, but a Hide and Seek one. That's why Nurse wasn't suppose to be the menace she is (because she would be ok in a Hide and Seek game).

It's decent for a proposal, but Nemesis' current kit can be furhter inproved before considering to add new things. The zombies are his only way to have somewhat of a presence across the map as well as some pressure, and they have lackluster performances these days and since launch, and improving the zombie mechanic isn't that difficult I believe.

The dash could work, but I'd rather they fix something that is there before adding more things to the mix, potentially breaking it even more.

    Makes sense.

  • Wow!
So many replies! Thanks guys! 😁

I didn't knew about this collision bug! So Flashbangs SHOULD BE countered by walls.
That should be the reason I'm seeing it more frequently.
Also some here suggested perks to counter them, but that's my point. Having to sacrifice a slot just because of these damn bombs…

To finish I would like to bring to light again my point (that was mentioned by a few people here) that if the surv time it right you can't look up. The exact moment you would be able to the bomb explodes, so nothing that can be done indeed if timed right.

  • @DancewithmeKate said:

They are not problem, they are very much counterable.

    @Aven_Fallen said:

Flashbangs in itself are fine. The Bug that they are silent sometimes needs to be fixed tho.

    @OnryosTapeRentals said:

Flashbangs don’t bother me other than the bug where they don’t make any noise. That’s annoying and needs fixed ASAP.

As far as I know the bug it's only for the sound queue of survs dropping it that's not playing.
My point is that even with or without the bug Flashbangs are 100% uncounterable if dropped at the exact time. No walls, no Franklin to make them drop it…

lol That's fair. I think a lot of people have complaints about RNG-based stuff in DBD. Even Pain Res gets talked about in that context. I've personally had three scourge hooks spawn near each other, though I usually don't mind RNG stuff; sometimes it's in my favor and sometimes not. And as long as the odds are reasonably balanced, I'm happy :)

I think the most common complaint I see surrounding RNG is hatch. I honestly like hatch the way it is, but I think there are some people who would be appeased by a carefully balanced skill-based hatch mechanism.

I've been playing this game for 3 years now and still EVERYTIME it's hatch time my heart start to pump faster no matter if I'm a killer or surv.🤩

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3871610#Comment_3871610

If a survivor hasn't waited on hook and immediately uses all three of their 4% chances, they have about a 1/9 chance of self-unhooking. If they waited for an unhook for very long, they have fewer chances, leading to lower odds of a successful self-unhook.

It should also almost never be the case that the last two survivors both have zero hooks. Without hard tunneling, that should practically never happen.

Together, these things suggest that this phenomenon of the last two survivors self-unhooking should be extraordinarily rare. And even then, it's not so hard to find and down the survivor who self-unhooked since you know where they were when they did it.

How often would you say you find yourself seeing a survivor self-unhook, without an unhook-related perk, in a way that impacted your ability to get the kill on that survivor when only two are left?

    Honestly… I have no idea.
Maybe I'm confusing the recent games from weeks with the result of months. I don't hard tunnel because it's a braindead way to achieve your objective as much as gen rush. Also there are some matches that I simply forget that one of the guys on the floor already had a hook.😋
If I'm a surv and this happens to me I simply say "well, I'll go make a sandwich while I wait". No big deal.

All I know is that 4% needs to go regardless. Luck based stuff is stupid. It was a pain to watch Yugioh everytime it was Joey's turn to duel😂

Oh dont pull that line it gets old. If you down the third and refuse to hook them to seek the fourth, its on you thar the third waste your time as your wasting theirs first if you managed to find and hook 4th.

I am sure they would want you to hook them when you down them but you choose not to. So I doubt they do like being slugged.

What is this mind set of killer rule book lately stating a third person I down and refuse to hook should wait out in the open for me while I try find their last teamate?

I also want to know why pursuing a 4K seems wrong these days…

This will only make things worse. Bots don't even know how to use Plague fountains.

Currently if bots get (or start infected) by Wesker's Uroboros they keep running in circles don't knowing what to do.
They work normally until getting infected, which is when they will "loop" around "I'm infected→don't know how to cure myself but I know I can't do gens until I'm cured". You need to hook them twice so they finally figure out that they need to use the spray and then go back to gens.

  • Aw crap…
I have a friend who mains Wesker and Dracula and he refused to play 2v8 as killer until one of these two were added and now his first match as killer in this mode will be against bots probably.
Please give us an option to queue for matches that can or can't be filled with bots.

  • 4% needs to go.
It's quite a considerable amount of matches that "I can't" hook the 3rd and 4th surv because they were never hooked and if I do it they can 4%. This is also aggravated when one of then have that amazing idea of crawling to some corner to deny the hook (these ones seems to love being slugged or they wouldn't do such a pointless thing), so I have to wait this one to bleed out to hook the last one so he/she can't 4%.

But sadly this would hurt queues A LOT.

  • I really like this game, but I'm foreseeing the FNAF chapter will be a major disaster.
It'll surely break the peak players record of 105K set from Nemesis DLC and with the amount of bugs that keeps getting bigger, old bugs returning and the fact that there's so much people playing during anniversaries that the server almost melt down (ping above 100) + newcomers for this chapter = catastrophe.

Oh myyyyy but what a wonderful thing a complete recoding from scratch would be!

Imagine if you will, a built-in match replay system that not only takes the heaviest burden of reporting off of the players, but also allows them to rewatch their trials for improvement's sake. Could also iron out the most notorious of the long standing bugs. Perhaps including stat tracking as well, maybe even showing ally perks somewhere too. An opportunity to do a thorough optimization, and have the game play nicely with UE5 also.

The list goes on. Here's to a fansical DBD2 some year! 🎉

I think it's past time BHVR hire a entire new dev team to rebuild DbD from scratch.A DbD 2 would result in the need to renew all the licenses, so I think if it's the same game, but with a better skeleton we would be fine.

    @100PercentBPMain said:

Dbd cant get people to stick. The game can attract hordes of newcomers but they get chewed up and spat out, never to return.

That's fine and somewhat normal, but I think its a bullet that can't be dodged forever. This game has always survived by constantly bringing in fresh meat for the grinder but we really could be so much better off.

For example, we hear a lot "we can't focus on health, it's new content or we get BORED!" but I believe confidence in new content is at an all time low; why get excited for new content when it could be Chuckyd or Skull Merchanted?

I want to be hyped for Springtrap but I don't even want to get excited anymore. If somethings good it'll get nerfed. If it's bad, then it'll get buffed then nerfed.

    THIS 100%!

  • It's your fault to not having the decency of buying a $5 cable and screw the match for everyone else not only in DbD but all multiplayer games you play.
    You deserve the punishment.

I ran Screech Cobbler and Terrormisu all morning. I Got sick of the survivors giving up on hook or just getting stomped so quickly that I didn't earn much. As soon as I take them off, the next match someone offers one and it makes me so mad because I would love to stack. I have the SoloQ Blues.

I'm playing almost non-stop as a surv to farm as much BP as I can since it's much chiller than doing it as a killer.
I literally have thousands of 8th cakes between some survs, so I don't mind losing them when the match goes sideways.
What makes me mad is that if more people use cakes I could achieve my goal faster and, mostly, that we have the new News notification and this (offering being bugged) is not on it.

And talking about solo queue… damn!
It's indeed SO BAD right now and my head is full of ideas on how to improve it like being able to make an emote or something like that saying "I'm getting that surv off the hook" to avoid two stopping gen progress to go for the rescue or even a flashing red blip on the HUD over a surv's portrait that's on a gen when you're in a chase to avoid bringing the killer to these teammates.

  • That's an amazing idea!
It would make things SO MUCH simpler!😃

As I said: "crazy idea that just popped in my head", which means "I didn't considered other implications".
Give me your best idea for 2v1 scenarios where both survs keep hiding doing nothing to progress the match.

  • Gonna play a little bit of Devil's Advocate now:

IMO the "Slug Meta" wouldn't have become so popular if the killer was not unincentivized to hook because of gen rush and A LOT of good perks that activate after you are hooked/unhooked. By slugging you apply more pressure to slow the gen rush and don't need to deal with said perks.
Just to be clear: gen rushing and hard Camping/Tunneling are both braindead strategies that anyone with a 37 IQ can use to win. I personally only tunnel/camp as killer if gens start to fly faster than a rocket because I don't have any other choice.
    So:

    1-Do something about gen rushing.
2-Limit survs to only use one 2nd chance perk per build, but to do that hard tunneling should be addressed first.

Of course, let's do something about slugging, but first about these other issues described above.

  • Crazy idea that just popped in my head:
Instead of removing hatch as some here suggested, what about idle crows also appear on survs's heads that are not doing gens in a 2v1 scenario?

  • We got to a point where playing the normal DbD with MMR working as intended (instead of you waiting in the queue for longer times and being matched with comp players) became the event.

    @Zakon05 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857886#Comment_3857886

It's not competitive players. Competitive players want to play against other good players and be challenged. Winning effortlessly all the time isn't fun. This is why comp players in this game tend to either play in custom matches with other like-minded people, or they play pubs with self-imposed restrictions like M1 only Trapper or other challenges.

The kind of people who are asking for a casual mode in this game are the toxic casuals. The people who want to win most of the time but don't want to put forth the effort necessary to actually do that. So they want to go up against people who are either worse than them or trying less hard than them. Because anyone who tries harder than them is, of course, a toxic sweaty tryhard.

Totally agree and have to add that these same toxic casuals greatly contribute for unjustified killers nerfs because they don't want to learn the counterplay.

First of all, he didn't have "uncounterable free hits", it wast that hard to counter, I didn't have any problems facing Chucky. Screams skill issue, but I digress

Second, he needs to have very strong chase power, because he has nothing else going for him, no map pressure, no slowdown. He's feast or famine killer, if he doesn't get very quick downs and snowball rolling he just loses. Now he doesn't even have strong chase.

His dash is not much better than Pig's now - killer who has no cooldown on her power, retains full control of the camera during dash (unlike Chucky), is 115% AND has whole second power that is the best passive slowdown in the game. For anyone curious here is a gif with side by side comparison. His dash is quite pathetic now if you consider all of that.
He was fine after the first nerf with 12s cd and nerfed rat poison, that second nerf in hotfix was totally unnecessary, he could maybe stay at that 14s cd (but I still disagree, it's not needed), but those dash changes, both speed and duration need to be fully reverted, full stop.

I think people doesn't know what 180º means.
Just do that and Chucky was screwed.

    @Vishlumbra said:

Another community driven emotional nerf. It’s terrible.

Slowly but surely we getting to the point killers are supposed to provide entertainment to survivors while having no real chance of winning unless survivors want to play bad.

Chucky has terrible map presence, mediocre stealth that is revealed to survivors, gutted add ons and now crippled chase. He went from A- to D tier. It does feel like a business strategy, Houndmaster is OP for now, when the next chapter hits she will get nerfed, repeat.

We don't have killers in DbD.
DbD is a game of 4 Survivors players x 1 CLOWN player.

Eh, crouch tech is something that people learn once they get hundreds/thousands of hours into this game and the casual audience (most of DBD is) isn't aware of it.

Removing it would just make dodging certain killers M2 attacks harder and it does in fact remove skill expression (losing more as time goes on) in the game.

Just because you crouch near a Blight, Hillbilly, or Demogorgon doesn't mean that you're automatically going to avoid being hit/downed and there's counterplay to it in general once you recognize a survivor keeps dodging your ability.

Person above me explained it perfectly, so I have nothing to add except it's so easy to see bias like this from hardcore mains of one side when you play both.

It doesn't matter how easy or hard is to exploit a bug.
It's a bug, so by exploiting it you're literally cheating. Wesker's hugh tech is also hard, but it's another bug being exploited.

  • @AlexXHunter44 said:

I consider it a feature not a bug. It's not an easy thing to pull off at all and shows a great deal of skill expression from survivors. It's not like you can just crouch anywhere at any time and it misses, you actually have to precisely time it in most cases and be at the correct elevation on the map compared to the killer.

Skill expression is the general excuse to exploit the bugs the game has.

I definitely think the amount of antiloop Killers has ruined a lot of the fun of the game. It's way more fun to me to mindgame in chase with a Myers or a Skurchent (gasp!) or a Houndmaster or something than it is to just get hit over a pallet or vault by Xeno or Huntress.

Instead on introducing a bunch of antiloop Killers, BHVR should have fixed maps and nerfed the loops heavily from the start so we never NEEDED all these antiloop Killers.

I definitely think a lot of the skill as Survivor has been automated, particularly certain perks and stuff like Flashlights. it doesn't feel like you have to try, it doesn't feel risky. It just feels like if I put this thing in the right spot or do the right thing with the right perks, I get free second chances and easy wins, and if I don't do those things? Well, then I just get smacked around.

    Totally agree!
Yesterday I was talking to my friend (who is a Wesker/Dracula main while I'm a Nemesis/Vecna main) about how less frustrating and fun the matches with our second mains are. Why? Because they are better anti-loopers. The amount of loops and stuff that are in survs's favor in almost every map is ridiculous. Instead of giving killer players more anti loop killers BHVR should properly balance the maps so survs wouldn't get a considerable amount of advantage.

    @Vishlumbra said:

If you believe the game is killer sided it just means you are a solo survivor player, like me.

The game has core issues with what’s possible to achieve, yet gets balanced by community complaints.

No one is asking why strategies emerge, like slugging. They blame the player instead of the game design.

There are at least 25 weak killers by all standards, a few of them borderline laughable and even 2 completely killed switched waiting for reworks.

Spreading hooks is the worst strategy if you want to win.

There’s a plethora of second chances perks, regression perks are nerfed every patch, chase perks too. Killers good at chase get nerfed then forgotten.

Stats are not the end - all. How many games you lost as survivor because of people giving up first hook, being afk, being new or just messing around? And the chances of getting those players is higher due the nature of the 4vs1. Those all add up to the survivor stats. If you get a group of decent, not even swf, just competent survivors with good perks, having DS, Unbreakable, Shoulder the Burden, etc, the game becomes impossible to win as a killer. That’s it. That’s how it is.

So to answer your question, is because the lack of questioning of why gameplay and meta evolves into “not fun strategies”. They just perk patch the flavor of the month strategy, proceed to forget about the nerfs and never actually consider the reason.

Also have to say I agree with this.
Imagine that you end up ran over by a car, broke your leg and had to use a cast in it for 3 months and now you need physiotherapy. First sessions feels like hell because you didn't used your leg in so much time that it now hurts to the point of crying.
Same thing with most survivors in this game and that whine so much in this forum. A new killer enters the roster and now they have to use a part of their body (the brain) that they barely use to learn the counterplay and while doing so it hurts SO MUCH that their cries make BHVR nerf the killer.

  • If you take pro killers and survs into consideration the game is indeed surv sided.
The only argument you need is the restrictions survs are put through in tournaments just for the match to be more equally fair for both sides.

I understand your point about Exultation. Yes, Build yo Last is much better if we are talking about recharging an item, but that's not the true purpose of Exultation. Changing item's rarity is.
Recently I got a like on keys and realized that the Skeleton Key has a 30s use! Wow!
So while we have no evts to farm BP and incentives are trash I've decided to take this time and upgrade as much of my keys as possible. With keys you have the purple add-on that you lose it instead of the key if you die holding it. Just pallet stun the killer two times (with a 30s time between the stuns) and you get a new Skeleton Key every match.

What about when a killer has Franklin?
Simple: you force the killer to down you with M2 and if it's a M1 killer I have Plot Twist.

  • Few years?
This should have been done yesterday.😂

  • Just got a match like you guys described.
Funny thing is I'm sick and I just lost one of these clowns through the hatch because I was on top of it and I coughed the exact time I should close it.
"So you were being toxic wanting to close the hatch on the survs face?"
Nops. I lost her (Yu-Jin), found the hatch and was waiting for her to bleed out. Can't risk Adrenaline 😂

    Honestly.

Im seeing deadzones and just blank spots nonstop on maps now. Entire sections of the map where there is just a single or NO pallets. Or the pallet that is there is like the ones in ormond on tables and a snowman lol.

Not sure what the map logic is turning into but its a bit annoying.

    Yep.
    Agreed.

Everyone is a 4 man swf in the killers eyes on this forum. They cry because they get whooped one game and think it's unfair that they can't kill everyone every time

I for instance say this only when I have good evidence like chasing one surv and the moment he/she is about to go down another one appears out of nowhere to take the hit, the combination of offerrings…

    I mean… If you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not happening.

    Of course.
I'm still shocked I didn't match with any of these clowns.

  • Something that we could do is a system for you to not be matched against the same killer for 4 or 5 matches.
BUT I believe this would impact queues too.

I would love never facing Wraith, Nurse, Legion and some other killers ever again, but this can't be done.

  • What the hell?
All my games are either full of SWF with my mains (Nemesis and Vecna) or average survs with the killers I barely play.
I'm not facing these clowns you guys are talking about here.

My queue takes 1-2 minutes, idk. Probably your region problem.
Upd: Streamers across the world I watch also have nearly instant queue on killers, so have no idea.

I think it'll get better in the next hours, but at this time it shouldn't be that bad.

Steam is only a fraction of the players. Majority play killer so you need more survivors than killer. No one wants to play survivor very much and the ones that do are either toxic, lazy, or they are trying but get set back by useless teammates. Survivor isn't attractive anymore.

How surv isn't attractive when they can made a fool of the killer (because the killer is not a menace anymore/he is just a clown to be bullied)?

I understand the complains yet I still like the idea to finish a match with a mori. Feels far more cinematic than just hooking everyone.

They could just make it so you can instantly mori the last survivor when everyone else is either dead or hooked and already on second hook state.

That's the only issue with the Finisher Mori.
Killers should get the prompt to mori and end the match if all other survs are incapable of unhooking or getting the other up.
