If I get hit with an iri hatchet, particularly if the killer is one that can hit a fly from 50 miles away, I will kill myself on first hook and move on. I don’t have time for BS.
-
Camping Bubba is a lose-lose situation. The absolute best you can accomplish is trading places on the hook, barring the remote possibility that the killer is totally inept (which does happen from time to time).

Switch out Any Means Necessary with Self-Care and you're golden.
Nah. Self care is too beneficial. Any means necessary takes a ridiculous amount of time to reset a pallet and serves no real purpose other than maybe giving you another chance of stunning a killer if they didn’t break it first.

No Mither reduces the grunts of pain by 50%. Those effects seem to stack additively, so with Iron Will reducing by 100% and Stridor increasing by 50%, they all add to 100% -50% -100% + 50% = 0.
Yes. As I said I looked it up.
-
Nevermind, just looked it up. Running a perk where the killer downs you with one hit defeats the purpose of using Iron Will unless you are specifically using No Mither. That’s a huge downside just to counter the possibility of Stridor being used. If you want to use No Mither then Iron Will is mandatory, but if you want to use Iron Will then equiping No Mither is really kind of stupid.

Stridor is used as a counter to Iron Will for killers that rely on sounds, mostly phasing Spirits. The only way to become completely silent against stridor is to compound its effects with either No Mither or Off the Record.
Why would combining it with No Mither work? That isn’t even remotely close to being a stealth perk.
-
@Crowman said:
Likely it's because the killer has Stridor which makes IW survivors have grunts of pain at 50%.
Really? I didn’t think that would be something I could hear though. Kind of ruins the point of Stridor a little if I know she can hear me, imo.

I don’t play Trapper but I thought that he was all about primarily protecting the three closest gens because he has poor map mobility. If you’re running all over the map you’re probably going to lose. Also I’m not sure how good BBQ is against red ranks. Most experienced players will assume you’re running it so you’re not likely going to get much benefit out of the aura sensing. The hook bonus isn’t going to help you. I’d choose Tinkerer instead.

I mean, do we need more?
It affects self unhooks, and freeing from Trappers bear traps. That’s it.
The way it is now it feels like it’s worthless even if it actually does something. Who the heck chooses one of Ace’s luck perks over other things? If I want to escape from a hook I’d do better to simply choose deliverance. It should be reworked for other purposes, like chest searches.
-
How the hell can you lose 5 gens in three minutes without being asleep or being hacked? Just doesn’t seem possible.
-
If that’s true then I don’t need to spend blood points on her. If it’s Oni I’m going to need to because I still have him at level 1. Thanks.
-
I still find that survivor queues are fast at noon and slow at midnight. The opposite is true of killers. Plan accordingly.
-
My only complaint about it is how boring it is to play against, same with Ruin or most of the other meta killer perks. Too many killers run it.

OMG you're so close to being able to unlock the Mr. Puddles outfit for clown! You should buy clown and then unlock the outfit with shards. Clown is my second in command so I may be a little biased.
I haven’t unlocked the Clown but when I do I’ll already own the Mr. Puddles costume from completing that rift.
I haven’t unlocked them because there are still killers I’ve unlocked like Legion and Oni that I haven’t even gotten around to trying yet. Also, I’m kind of waiting to see what the next chapter is first.
-
I was in red ranks, but then for some reason I went all of the way down to rank 10. Because emblems are broke maybe?

He is licensed. You can't unlock him with shards.
Ditto Cheryl and Ash.
A while ago I asked a similar question when I reached 9,000 shards whether I should get Slinger or Clown. Well, I’m at 19,000 now and still haven’t gotten either. Lol
-
If I’m on a gen and you are on a hook on the other side of the map I’m not going to hop off to get you because every time I do that somebody else gets there first and then I’ve wasted time. So if you make it to second hook, sorry. Others are probably thinking the same thing I am. That can be an issue when nobody knows where anybody else is.
-
I can’t decide which is more stupid and pointless: streamers or people that watch streamers. Okay, if you’re really really great at the game then maybe I’d check you out, but most streamers seem to be self important knobs. Why watch somebody else play when I can play instead?
-
Definitely a bug in that locker. I was Ghostface and I could see the survivor clear as day just like in that pic. What’s more they’re not even really in the closet and just visible. They are literally outside the closet where they can take direct damage!

"Just because a person can pass a test that meets your approval doesn’t mean that they will then play how you want them to play."
That sounds pretty defensive to me. But go off.
Telling me you make it to red ranks only says one thing, you play consistently. Ranks and pips are meaningless and no, pipping is not difficult. I didnt say you should stay at r13 because you disagree, but because you think some players take the game too seriously. My point was players like you under my idea can stay with more casual players rather than going into red rank with the attitude of, "I dont want to play sweaty so dont get mad that I wasnt trying as hard as you."
And if you dont have an issue with the average red rank survivor I'm going to assume either you aren't that good, (which is fine I'm not saying it as a personal attack.) Or you simply are okay with casual players. Which again, is fine but not everyone likes to play with casual survivors.
If you don’t want to play with casual players there are already solutions tailor made for you. Choosing the quick match/solo queue option is there for people that just want to play a quick game. I happen to like the randomness of rounds because I never know what I’m going to get. Playing with potatoes is equally as boring as playing with professional level players every match, imho.
Ultimately what you’re trying to do is akin to showing up to the neighborhood basketball court and forcing all of the local kids to conform to your standards when what you really should be doing is going to form your own league and build your own professional level gymnasium elsewhere. I’m sure there are resources available online where you can connect with others like you, Facebook groups and the like. Use them. Solo queue is not for you.

In my own post I said even players with 100s to 1000s of hours can barely loop. Clearly, experience alone is not working.
If you are having trouble getting pips that is 100 percent on you.
You sound defensive. Why you oppose helping players get better while having the option to stay in the more casual ranks is beyond me.
Lol. When you say I sound defensive, to me it sounds like you’re projecting. You made a post, I respond that I disagree with your central premise, and then you immediately retort that I’m being unreasonable and defensive. It’s preposterous. I routinely make it to red ranks and rarely have problems holding my own. Saying that I need to stay above rank 13 because I disagree with you is just stupid. Believe it or not, it’s possible to become good at this game while still not taking it totally seriously and becoming an aggressively competitive try-hard.

How would I fix this? I don't believe you. I have 5k hours and play this game daily. Most players are bad. Period. Most games are won because the killer does poorly. I believe I have real, practical solutions and you have yet to explain why my solutions wouldn't help raise the quantity of quality team mates and be healthy overall for the game.
Honestly if you care so little that my ideas seem "too serious." For you, just stay at r13 with other survivors who don't care to improve. Casual and competitive players should be separated.
The only way players will improve is through experience and playing with others that are better than you. Just because a person can pass a test that meets your approval doesn’t mean that they will then play how you want them to play. Like it or not, pipping is the test and those that are terrible already find it difficult to advance in rank.
-
I still don’t see the problem a lot of you guys have. Do I get rounds where I lost due to my teammates being potatoes? Sure. Is it every round? Definitely not. Most of the time when we lose it is because the killer is simply better than us. Playing solo is a grab bag, and will always be a grab bag. There is no fix to this. Really the only solution there is to your problem is to simply stop taking the game so damned seriously. Your complaint has nothing to do with bugs or anything the devs can do to rectify the situation. The only person that can fix you is you.

Yeah i don't get why they honestly even bother trying to "balance" weak ass perks like that. Its so stupid because
Ds, BT, SC, DH. There are a handful of perks that are so good that you are hurting yourself by not taking. Killer is a little more open because all killers are different and there really isn't a MUST bring perk but they still have a very large collection of trash perks that are either useless or have too many stipulations.
But again i know how long it takes for even the simplest of perk changes so I would hope they would focus on survivor perks. They need to nerf the god perks (honestly as much as people are freaking out DS is still the best perk in the game) and AT THE SAME TIME buff the perks that are useless or underpowered. They won't last a killer meta last more than a chapter or two but survivor hasn't changed since i started playing and there could be so much more variety
I do wish that survivor perks weren’t all teachable, and that each character had one unique ability like the killers do. For instance, if you wanted the ability to self heal, then you would have to choose Claudette. Die Hard? That’s Dave. Having all of the perks interchangeable just makes all of the survivors into skins.

If the word team makes you "cringe" go play killer or a single player game.
If you insist that everybody play as part of your team then go swf. Simple as that. I actually enjoy being thrown in with a random group and not knowing what to expect. It keeps things fresh. I am under no obligation to help you in solo queue. Emphasis on SOLO queue. I’ll do what ever the hell I want, thank you very much.
There would be a lot less stress if people simply adjusted to the fact that not everybody is going to play the same as you or have the same objectives. Again, if you want that: swf.

Yeah, you and those like you are exactly why Solo Que is such a nightmare right now.
If the queue is a nightmare it has nothing to do with me. As I said, I’ll help when and if I can. What I won’t do is sacrifice myself just so one person can live for a few more minutes.

I'm also a solo player. doesn't mean I don't try to help my team.
Honestly the word “team” makes me cringe. If wanted to play that way I’d swf. We have mutual overlapping objectives and thats it. I’ll help you when and if I can, but I’ll also throw you under the bus without a second’s thought if necessary. I expect no more or less from others, lol.
-
If I feel confident that my first hook isn’t also going to be my last hook then I’ll take the aggro. If I don’t feel that confidence then it ain’t gonna happen. The only exception I may make is if I have already completed objectives/challenges that have nothing to do with escape, or none of us are likely to escape anyways so sacrificing myself isn’t going to make a bit of difference.
Taking “aggro” only makes sense if you play with the “team” mentality. I’m a solo player, therefore I weigh benefits and almost always choose what is beneficial for myself. If it’s in my best interest to save you then I’ll save you. If not then you just may be ######### out of luck.

Yeah farming isnt everyones cup of tea, i do alot of farming late night on weekends because the matchmaking is usually terrible for me, and i have challenges on killers i havent leveled/played before. If they dont wanna farm i usually just corner up and open the gate for them as soon as the gens are done to move on and try the next one.
True. I confess I’m not big on true farming when it goes on. I’m talking about more “soft” farming. Depending on wait time between matches, if the game moves too quickly and I won’t be getting many bp out of it I’ll find something extra to do before going out the door, like cleanse a dull totem I didn’t need to. If I’m not likely to get into another game for an entire 15 minutes then I may as well get what little I can out of this one, imho.
-
@Mandy said:
yeah a lot of players just don't want to farm, they actually want to have proper matches.
I can understand you want to practice, maybe you can go into a KYF match with a friend to practice playing Nurse, the DbD Discord has some groups also where you could join to learn her.
Not really interested in that, nor do I ultimately care if they left so fast either. Just thought it a little strange that nobody even tried to get even a little more bloodpoints out of it, like the usual “run me around the exit until I get a hit in” bit.
-
@PerfectlyPink said:
I mean, it sucks that you weren't able to practice, but personally I just want to get out of a match asap if the killer is farming. I came to play dbd, not to spend 20 minutes farming bloodpoints
I didn’t expect the round to last 20 minutes, but I did expect at least one of them to stick around long enough to tea bag me. How disappointing. Lol

Thrill of the Hunt becomes a weakness when you face a SWF, you can't defend everything in the same time, they tap your totems to get your attention, they start to cleanse at the same time, the game you describe only works when you're solo (even in solo, 4 or 3 hexes ? You just have to start cleansing, and get away the second you hear terror radius, use sound notification at your advantage).
The game is broken in regards to swf. There’s no point in even mentioning it because with a good team coordinating over coms nothing a killer does is much good.
You say that a solo player can “just” do something, but realistically it takes half the game to figure out a killer’s strategy. A 4 totem tactic is so un meta and unusual that most players aren’t going to be prepared for it.
-
@PerfectlyPink said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1953060#Comment_1953060
That does seem like it would be good, but if multiple survivors got on totems, or you are playing a killer without mobility, you might not be able to defend the totems well enough
That only works if you know this is the killers strategy. If you think only one hex is in play then you are going to try to cleanse the first lit totem you see. What happened is one person tried to cleanse a totem, got hooked near the totem, and then everybody that came over for the save saw the lit totem and assumed that it was the ruin. It all kind of snowballed from there. Because we all spawned in the same quarter of the map nobody knew how many were actually in play.
Also the beauty of thrill of the huht is that it slows totem cleansing. This was Spirit, but any killer with good map travel can make this build a beast to deal with.
-
I recently learned the value of Thrill of the Hunt from a killer that used it wisely. They were using it with both Ruin and Devour Hope as well as I think Huntress Lullaby. They made it impossible to ignore totems, but with Thrill of the Hunt they kept getting notifications when totems were being cleansed. I don’t think anybody managed to cleanse a single one without being interrupted. We thought it was just a standard Ruin/Undying combo, but when Devour Hope kicked in, that’s when we knew we were really in trouble. Genius play, actually. I don’t think any of us expected a full totem build. Hindsight being 20-20 we should have just gen rushed.
-
I think having the chain realistically getting snagged on things would help a lot. We should be able to use the environment to snap it instead of it magically cutting through things like trees.
-
I feel kind of bad about bowling over players that are obviously new to the game, so if I know where the hatch is I like to carry the last survivor over to it and allow them to escape. I only play killer for rift points and stuck at rank 20 so I run into these knuckleheads a lot. I don’t know if they all appreciate it but it’s fun.
-
As people said, just relax and play the game normally. You’ll find them inevitably. It may take more than three rounds but you’ll find them. For me it took about 6 or 7.

Also thank you for the video. I honestly thought pallets against nurse was useless.
I got off a pallet stun on a nurse while blinking the other day. I think it really surprised him because he tunneled me hard after that, lol. If it wasn’t for another fool stumbling into the chase I wouldn’t have gotten away. That time at least, still didn’t make it out that round, but I was the last one at least.
-
It wasn’t too terribly difficult. I managed to get all three in probably 6 rounds. In one of them another player just barely beat me to the punch. Basically just play the game normally and don’t actively search for them and you’ll probably just stumble upon them. They’re no big deal.
-
I play PS4 and I’ve disabled messages appearing onscreen while I play so that if I want to read or answer them it’s easier to do it on my phone app. And since Ive initiated cross play my troll count is way down because apparently you don’t get messages outside of your platform.

that literally just sounds like a garbage team
It was a rank 1 Legion that I think was only pretending to be afk to challenge himself. We were all red rankers. It wasn’t a 3 gen situation, but it was close. I gen in 2 corners on one side of the top floor and another closer to the other side on the bottom floor. He was able to get everywhere with high speed and of course with it being Legion it was almost impossible to hide from him. It wasn’t that we were bad it was that he was a very good killer and the map is too damn small.
-
Appraisal, Plunderer’s, Left Behind can be a godlike combo, but I don’t use that build often because I don’t always make escape the highest priority. Still, it has saved me many times when I’m teamed with dominos.
-
I gave up on trying to use them. I’m better with firecrackers. But flashlights can still be handy against hag traps, from what I hear.
-
To be fair this map is really small. Survivors needs something to slow killers down that already excel with map pressure. I had a match the other day where it took fifteen minutes to get the last gen done against a legion, and he was afk for the first 4. It wasn’t even a case of being 3 gen either.
