  • Hate to break it to you bud, but if you dodge the lobby there will be another killer within a minute. The long wait is only to get INTO the lobby, but when you’re there games begin relatively quickly even if the killer decides to bail for a new one.

  • This is a very old post. Do people still feel the same way? Because in my experience some killers have gotten so adept at using this perk that they can nail your position with pin point accuracy. Ergo, I do think some sort of counter perk is in order. What say you?

  • @MadLordJack said:

Plunderers Instinct. To be fair, though, I do very, very often get keys with it.

Plunderer’s, combined with Appraisal and Left Behind can be a godly combination in most games. I’ll often fall back on it if I have too many rounds in a row with potatoes that fall like dominoes or disconnect in the first two minutes. It does suck in the occasional round where you search all three chests twice and get nothing but flashlights though.

  • You act like de-pipping is an actual penalty most people care about. It’s actually a reward for the people that disconnect because it increases the odds that they will go against easier killers. They would love de-ranking twice as fast!

  • @Klakky said:

I don't even have 500h and I have every killer except 2 at prestige 2, 1 at p3, maxed out survivors have 6 still locked, 1 at p3 1 at p1... At lvl 50 u get 4 perks to choose from... Not that hard to get perks u want, u dont have to prestige, I do it cause of my OCD, you can just get all perks at lvl 50 no prestige, it's random so if u see perks u don't like don't get it! Otherwise chances to see that perk in t2 increase alot

Uh... no. I have every survivor except Quentin. That is 83 perks. You’re not going to get all of those by level 50. It’s mathematically impossible. I wanted self care on my Eloise and wasn’t getting it so I became stubborn and actively worked towards it. It was the 77th out of 83 to appear on the web, and because of the way in which they are offered I was easily above level 100 at that point. If your way works for you, then it is only because you haven’t gotten around to unlocking any characters other than the base ones.

  • I thought you were going to complain about all of the worthless luck based ones. The 50% extra bloodpoints in a category is far more worthwhile than more luck.

  • Don’t make the mistake of using Ruin, otherwise you won’t be kicking anything until late in the game, if at all. You might might get potatoes that won’t do bones.

Your truth maybe. Even 5k hours people can lose 3-4 gens in no time. The key is just a unfair mechanic like mori was. Kill one survivor right at the beginning and the chances of escaping tend to be 0.

Maybe this game isn’t meant to be “fair”.

Are mental or what? Take your pills before you write such bullshit.

Lol. The truth hurts, doesn’t it? 3 gen is a strategy that is a stalemate position that relies upon the survivors becoming impatient, and overcoming your own.

  • @BaldursGate2 said:

Be completely dumb. Doing the wrong gens, making a 3-gen-strat available for the killer. Be lucky and find a key. 3 ppl escape without a chance of winning the game otherwise.

    "Fair" mechanic my ass.

3 people escaping through the hatch means that they got 4 gens done, and to me that’s a sign you haven’t done that good of a job as killer. 3 gen isn’t a win, against good players it’s a stalemate where the game continues on and on until one side gets bored and throws the match intentionally. In that situation you don’t deserve the win any more than the survivors do. The hatch still serves its primary purpose of keeping the game from dragging on forever.

  • I love keys. Killers getting salty over them make me love them even more. More keys, please!

Comes down to a few things...

    1) If you unhook someone and the killer is not around - Wait 2 seconds to see if the survivor runs off; if they don't, then heal them.

    2) If you're working on a gen and an injured survivor comes to you; see where your gen progression is. 3+ gens remaining? DO THE GEN. 2 or less gens remaining? HEAL THE SURVIVOR

    3) If a survivor is self-healing with a medkit, do not stop them so you can heal instead. They self-heal at the same speed as you would, thus making it a waste.

    4) Don't bring self-care, use Inner Strength or any sort of medkit instead (Bonus points for bringing Botany)

Re: #2. I don’t know. A lot of times those last two gens are a real hassle to complete. I’m going to really resent having to stop repairing to heal the person, especially if it means that time wasted healing could have been the difference between a fixed gen and not. If they can’t risk another hook they should probably not be hanging out in a high risk target area. If you’re there then you’re volunteering to be the bait. Because if at this late stage in the game if ruin or pgtw is in play I’m not stopping that repair for anybody. If it’s above 95% and I know the killer is coming I will still usually complete it even if it means going up on the hook. If it’s my last hook only then will I bail.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/219671/healing-etiquette

Some survivors want to heal you before a gen completes im case the killer investigates it. In the resilience case, let them heal you until 99% then hold shift to cancel the heal, work on the gen, and let them finish healing after it pops

It doesn’t matter what they want despite their good intentions, and that’s why healing etiquette needs to be taught. If a person doesn’t want to be healed then they should respect that because since we can’t verbally explain in game why not, they simply need to trust that they know what they’re doing. It’s their health, their judgment call. They know their own perks and abilities better than you do. If you’re worrying about their health more than they are, then stop. There’s a good reason for why they’re choosing not to heal.

I keep running into people who run WMI, and they'll follow me for up to about a minute tea bagging and flashy clicking because they wanna heal me, and forcing the interaction whenever it pops up

I dont ignore to be toxic, but the most common build I run is based around being injured, resilience and spine chill and dead hard and adrenaline, when I'm running this I'll only ever heal up if Its a dire situation and we need to do a clutch hook save, that cant be done whilst injured

But this wastes so much time and I think enforces bad habits, because they feel that its OBLIGATORY to heal, the amount of times I've been trapped on something and been knocked down whilst the other person refused to leave the heal animation.

That same thing has happened to me and one of the reasons why I posted this thread. A person pestered me for like an entire minute and kept trying to heal me while I was running resilience and wouldn’t take the hint even though I kept breaking away from her heal and literally pointing to tell her to go away. Stupid people!!

  • @GamerGirlFeng said:

IMO getting off a gen to heal is better than finishing it first. Once it pops, killers tend to go towards them because DUH someone is over there. Then there's an injured survivor being an easy target.

If a survivor won't get off the gen to help, then I move on to someone else who will and end up making them a last priority when they need help in return.

Do they, though? Maybe if they’re nearby and don’t have any other leads. Otherwise if I’m the killer I’ll go defend nearby gens rather than go to one that is already a lost cause and the survivors presumably have already run away. There are few safer spots to heal than by gens that are already finished.

And if you’d rather run away to fond someone else to heal than you are to fix the gen then it tells me that you have zero long term plan for survival. You’re sure not going to escape with that behavior unless it is through the hatch.

What I do is I get the gen to about 95% and then stop to heal them

If the killer comes, you can pop it off quickly and run like hell. If the killer doesn't come, you can give them the heal before the big neon "WE'RE OVER HERE!!!!" firework pops off.

I'd say I wait to 99% on the gen but since I'm solo, I can't/don't expect the wounded survivor to realize my plan so I have the 5% buffer so they can stop before it finishes. If they choose to finish it instead and risk it, I'm fine with that too but I want to give the hurt guy the option.

Definitely not. Helping a person like that who is so self serving that they demand that you stop fixing a nearly completed gen to heal them probably wouldn’t return the favor if the tables were turned. Or at least I wouldn’t trust them to. An attitude like that means they’re likely destined to die or worse get you killed.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

There’s something else I’d like to add. If another survivor has come to you, PLEASE stop doing your 4567 second long Self Care and let the other survivor help you dammit.

I’m divided on that one. Recently that same thing happened to me, I allowed the person to heal me, they screwed up the skill check, the killer noticed, and I wound up dead. It’s situational, so there are times when I absolutely do NOT trust others healing me.

  • If you suck looping against Bubba, why are you wasting so much time healing? He’s just going to knock you down again! Just use Iron Will and soldier on!

  • The problem that I have had when using Second Wind is that for that entire 20 seconds I would have other players pestering me and insisting that I allow them to heal me. 20 seconds they could be using to do something more productive. But that isn’t entirely out of the ordinary as I’ve had people tea bagging next to me while I’m wounded and fixing a gen, trying to get me to stop and heal rather than help me fix the damned gen. People are really stupid.

you can get another 9000 shards by the time new chapter is released if you play enough. i recommend deathslinger because you hate clown but you want to collect them, so deathslinger seems like the best option. if you don't want to play and grind shards until new chapter, just keep shards, maybe you'll get a skin you like for your main, or the new killer, rather than a killer you'll barely play.

I get them pretty fast. I bought Legion just last month (still haven’t played him) although there was some extra shards given because of Christmas. I’ll play them all eventually but unless there’s a rift going on I don’t have much motivation to be the killer. I don’t enjoy the feeling of having to “perform” for people, if you know what I mean.

  • @WretchedElk said:

We are not afraid of them. We are sick of them. It boggles my mind that Survivors will cry ENDLESSLY about No One Escapes Death, shouting "tHeY aRe kIlLs yOu dIdN't eArN!11!" and then turn around and defend Keys, even going so far as to hypocritically say "The devs put them in the game, deal with it".

Don’t lump me into that crowd. I’ve always been a vocal bone cleansing supporter. But moris are are a better equivalent to keys than NOED is, and I’m not against their use either.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

I have no problem with toolboxes. Using toolboxes to fight back against perks like Hex: Ruin is totally fair in my book.

Keys are not. Screw your keys. Keys are a cop-out. It's like DCing, but getting paid for it. You should not be able to win the game for yourself because you found the hatch early and pressed a single button.

If I see 2 or more Keys in a lobby, I'm out. And if you try that last second Key swap right before the timer goes red I will tunnel you into Oblivion.

Most keys go unused and/or wasted, and are chosen at the expense of more useful items for the rest of the game. Honestly I don’t understand why you killers are so afraid of them. They’re part of the game and have been for a long time so it’s about time to get over it. If you see someone with a key then prioritize them over others if they bother you so much. If a survivor brings a key into the game and manages to live long enough to use it then they’re exhibiting a lot more skill then you’re giving them credit for.

Keys? Big deal. Toolboxes? Whoop de doo. Med kits? Whatever. Flashlights? More than one? Watch out: troll alert!

  • Since you are a rank 1 killer, no why would you lobby dodge? However, if you’re rank 17 I think there are plenty of justifiable reasons to lobby dodge if it’s obvious that you’re going to be severely outclassed.

An argument could be made for any survivor except Feng for being the leader. But out of the two, I'd say Adam. He's smart and isn't nervous unlike Dwight.

I’d say that being nervous in a situation like this is a greater sign of intelligence. It means that he is less inclined to underestimate the killer.

If the perk you want is in the bloodweb, why bother buying the character with 9000 shards when I can just spend 2000 to get the perk I want already unlocked without the need to grind that character to level 40 (around a million bloodpoints worth of extra grinding)?

It costs 3,000 to unlock a perk from the shrine, and you’re going to have to grind out the bloodweb to get it onto the character you want anyways. Besides, I don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to try to earn all of the adept trophies. Don’t you like this game? Why are you so stuck on playing the same character(s) all of time? How boring. Don’t you ever want to challenge yourself?

Aside from that, solidarity and poised are both decent underrated perks. Jane is worth getting.

  • I’ve never had that run, but I have definitely noticed that there is usually a pattern where I get the same killer two rounds in a row. Not the same player, just the killer. I always find it a little odd.

  • @vbarraganj14 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1863363#Comment_1863363

Because I'm not gonna play them, and I dont want their perks? Why would I waste shards on that

shards aren’t exactly a hard thing to accumulate. What are you going to use them for? Skins? Now that is more of a waste to me than using them to get characters, and obviously you do want their perks or at least some of them. Otherwise you wouldn’t be using the shrine.

  • Next time just save up 9,000 shards for the character. I’ve never understood the draw for the shrine. Why wouldn’t you want all the characters, or at least the ones that you don’t have to pay real money for?

  • The aura reading on dull totems is pointless. It should be only on the hex totems that way the killer can opt to protect them. Why would he care about dull totems? Survivors could use this as a distraction so others could fix gens.

No it wasn't. It was called negative input to attempt to dematerialize an idea.

You gave your feedback. My feedback is that I don’t like your feedback. And now you don’t like the feedback that I gave your feedback. And so on and so on. If you know anything about guitar amplification this whole conversation is the perfect description of feedback.

  • I’m finding that under normal conditions (playing alone with random players), a good red rank killer is more than powerful enough with one or two perks to handle 4 survivors. But there are combinations of 4 perks that make that same killer ridiculously overpowered to the point where it’s often very difficult to get more than one gen done. Yes, swf groups can be a huge problem and effectively break the game, but I don’t think the answer to that is to make every perk more powerful. Most players don’t actually play in swf groups most of the time. I’m personally a little bored with having to deal with PGTW paired with discordance or tinkerer virtually every round, and having to deal with ruin/Undying too on top of that is just annoying so I am fine with the nerf. 90% of my games lately are usually either over super fast because they’re shredding through everybody or super drawn out because of perks that make it impossible for two survivors to win against, so it becomes a matter of which side gives up first. Neither is much fun to play.

  • The shrine only unlocks it in your bloodweb. Depending on how many characters you own and teachable perks you have already unlocked it could be months before it appears on the web and you get to use it on the survivor you want. Sorry.

Exactly. please refer to the 2 fat shaming spots on Pale Rose. Still there, map not disabled after months?

If it’s the same spot I’m thinking of, survivors can’t get through it either.

There's a difference between being offended and pointing out that someone is simply wrong.

You can point out that something is wrong without getting emotionally bent out of shape about it, and some people here aren’t doing that.

  • Tinkerer basically turns every game into hide and seek once two survivors are killed off. It basically makes it impossible to finish any more gens beyond that point.

Totem placements have been incredibly strange since the recent patches. Yesterday on Gideon killer was running the usual Ruin Undying, and I couldn’t find any totems at all in any of their usual spots, not even evidence of cleansed ones either. Somehow we all got repairs done, and NOED procs. Again I tried to find ANY totem before leaving but couldn’t find any at all. I left. It was a very very strange match.

That’s because I am convinced they’re glitched at the moment. I run small game all of the time and there has been times where the perk pings and I can circle a spot for 5 minutes and never find it, like it spawned within a wall or rock. This is a very recent problem for me.

  • @chieften333 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1853067#Comment_1853067

The perk reduces the atrocious bloodpoint grind. While at the same time having a decent effect with counters.

If you hate it so much, hide behind a gen, hop into a locker, or get within 40m of the hook. It is not overpowered by any means.

Lol where did I say I “hated” it? It has easy counters but It is what it is. Stop getting offended so easily so because it’s being pointed out that most killers rely upon it in every round they play.

  • Yikes. So many killers here getting offended by the use of the word “crutch”. The truth is, yes, most killers I run into do in fact use this perk, and it does make me wonder how much a lot of them depend on it. Probably a fair amount, but probably not as much as it would if we took NOED from some and Whispers from others. Everybody has their favorites, but some are clearly more popular than others.

First of all, those 2 addons are really expensive and rare.

Second is, that killers using those addons are not really good at aiming.

Lol, wishful thinking. In my experience that often isn’t the case. There are plenty of Huntresses that know how to aim and will use iri heads if they have any available to them.

  • I don’t play killer often, but when I see two or more people in a lobby with flashlights then Lightborn immediately is chosen. I’m not sure why people in a party would choose so many of them knowing that perk exists. If the killer doesn’t use it they either are stupid or they really know what they’re doing. Barring that, maybe they don’t have the perk on that particular killer.

  • I think that dealing with a killer that is too good is as unfun as a killer that is bad. By that I mean one that takes the game waaayyy too seriously. You can generally get an idea of the player’s personality when you play against them. Some are great killers but play like robots and others are great killers but have a clear mean streak in their nature, constantly stabbing people for no reason on the hook and the like.
