  • Yeah, but it isn’t any less silly than survivor characters wearing mini skirts on Ormand. At least Krampus being a supernatural character accounts for snow that doesn’t melt.

  • The only time I have ever paid for cosmetics was like 3 years ago when I was playing Friday the 13th regularly (when it still had a future). For $3.00 you could buy sets of beach wear or Halloween costumes for most of the councelors, and I did it to support a game I liked not because I particularly wanted or needed them. That’s about the price range I could do for DBD, but I would be willing to spend twice that amount for a little bit less than F13 offered. At least it would still be a more reasonable price point than what they’re doing now.

  • @Hex_UrbanEvasion said:

Heartbound up there is right, probably they already heard the gen noises, or saw the sparks. I went on a break from the game for a bit, came back, and saw that gens now do that? My mind was blown. And then I played killer and realized just how easy it is to see on a dark map.

Again, very beside the point. Whether or not the killer heard anything is totally irrelevant to the problem.

  • I got the game for free two years ago thanks to PS Plus. It is definitely ridiculous how much they are, but if there are people willing to pay that much then I guess they know what they’re doing. Me personally I’d only be willing to spend a couple of bucks to support the game. $10-20? For a single skin? Pass.

  • @Heartbound said:

If it makes you feel better the killer probably heard the generator being worked on as he was approaching you.

...that said it still happens to me and I've been doing survivor a long time. It's just one of those things.

That was just an example of when it could happen, it isn’t what led me to post this discussion. It’s also happened when I let go of the gen to save somebody, too.

First of, if he downs half of the lobby that on you, you know it Bubba and that he is coming, if you stay close that on you. Windows destroys him, there literally nothing he can do about it. Locker also, there is timing when jumping out if locker so he won't grab you. Pre throwing pallets isn't a counter but it takes time from him, you shouldn't have be able to complete counter the killer, but you do it with and lockers I Bubba's case, also, close object and wall hugging can be nightmare for him. Even half decent teams won't have a real problem against him.

LOL. Downing half the lobby isn’t “on me”. I have zero control over how others play, and 95% of the time I witness these things going down from a distance. Be real.

Windows, lockers, close objects, indoor maps, head on, pre throwing pallets isn't really weakness but it can apply to all killers, zero map pressure, etc etc.. More?

Yes please. Things that apply specifically to him. He doesn’t have much in the way of map pressure but neither do many others. As I’ve said, pre throwing pallets doesn’t work against a guy that can shred right through them and barely miss a beat. He has a massive strength in being able to down people, multiple people even, without add ons. You would think that being balanced would mean also having a massive weakness and he really doesn’t. Not even map pressure is all that important when he is capable of downing half the lobby within seconds. And it doesn’t help that most of the time people spawn together even without burning an offering.

  • @Healthore77992 said:

    He is balanced.

If he is balanced that means he has weaknesses as well as strengths. List the weaknesses.

Is this trailer for real? Because I have never been more excited for a film that was released twenty years ago.

That trailer is definitely real. I’m old enough to remember when it was used as a teaser on a lot of New Line Cinema tapes that year (30 years ago!). About the only thing I remember about it was that it wasn’t nearly as good as Part 2.

  • Spine chill isn’t the perk that needs to be reworked. It’s the “undetectable” status that needs to do what its called.

Round 1: It sounds like you tried to make him bump into things with his saw, and he didn't. Meaning he played better than you did. Not sure what the issue is. Also - what is "tunneling" to you?

Round 2: If you're whining about Bamboozle, you need to learn how to run tiles properly. Also, again, what is "tunneling" to you? By the sounds of it, you're labelling it as tunneling when you're simply just being chased. As for him going between objects with his saw, that's just him playing better than you.

Also that Xmas present is awesome.

You may be good at this game, but you’re not very good at understanding a humorous story.

  • In reality, nobody would be getting up ever again from being downed or be completely healed from a hook impalement with a mere neck massage. And pallets and flashlights would stop exactly nobody. It’s probably best to not over think these things.

Aftercare is honestly amazing! I started using it recently and I’d argue it is better than bond and empathy.

I liked Aftercare up until the point when I got bonded with a trash player that tried to troll me whenever possible, try to lead the killer to my location etc and there was little I could do to get rid of them.

  • I only buy the passes when I know I can make it to tier 70. Yes it is a lot of grind, but it isn’t so bad if you were planning on playing a lot anyways. Some people can’t do that, and that’s understandable, but the rift isn’t for them. There’s a lot of things in life that happen in which you cannot participate in. It sucks, but that doesn’t mean that these things should have to change to fit your lifestyle. I mean, I’d love to club hop and go to rock shows in the middle of the week like I used to back in my 20s but I can’t.

Don't do both. Calm spirit prevents the scream but not the bubble. Doctor is also the second best user of Iron Maiden and many good docs make use of the perk.

Well, no. I generally wouldn’t use a closet to avoid his shock if I had calm spirit. But I’ll still use them for bbq.

  • I still haven’t found an acceptable counter to Leatherface. Yesterday was the first time in probably months that I was able to avoid his saw and that was by running around tiny tree on the edge of the coldwind farms map. He slices through pallets like butter so I can’t get any distance from him that way, and if I jump through a window his saw either still gets me or he hits me with the hammer. Supposedly you can outwit him by getting him to hit things, but even weaving in and out of tight passages doesn’t ever slow him down. There just never seems to be anything I can do against him except try my best to evade detection, which is also next to impossible if he’s using whispers. I’m just finding him absolutely frustrating to deal with, and that isn’t including the many A-Hole campers that use this killer.

  • Just went up against a rank 6 Doctor on The Game map. 3 of us survived out the gates even though it felt like an eternity before I even found a gen, or at least one that was safe enough to work on. I got hit but never hooked. I’m not saying this to brag, just to say yes it can be done, even in solo queue.

Well tbf for me at least a lot of games get decided during the last 2 gens or even in endgame collapse. Also the game is balanced around you getting 2 kills as a killer as the devs once stated and that is pretty much still possible if there is one gen left. Or maybe the survs 3 gen'd themselves which would make it so much easier to get the last gen. Or the killer runs blood warden. Like I dont think the games is automatically decided just cause u get to that point in the game. Also if u play by the survivor rules which means no tunnel or camp and hook everyone twice so u dont get hell in endgame chat almost every game will get to that point.

If you are going to allow the survivors to set the rules then you almost deserve to lose, don’t you? And if you’re going to do that then why complain about keys in the first place?

  • @Slashstreetboy said:

Ever since rumor has it that keys will be next on the chop block, the issue has become more obvious. I get key matches every other game.

I think they are severly unbalanced, since they share great similarities with the (now) old Moris. They effectively circumvent huge chunks of the objective to win a match prematurely (old moris cut off 1 hookstate, key can cut off several gens, usually 2 or 3 ppl escaping with 1 or 2 gens left), robbing the opposing side of either their well deserved victory or their chances at achieving them.

Add the fact Survivor can randombly stumble upon a key and you get yourself a pretty messy imbalance.

In my opinion, hatch should only spawn when all gens are done or there´s only 1 Survivor left. Key can only be used for 1 person to escape (so multi key escapes require multiple keys, to keep the achievements related to it doable).

So which is it, several gens or 1-2? Saying that keys are op is completely overstated. If 3 people are escaping via hatch then it means four gens were already done. Odds are you were going to lose anyways. If two people escape it means 3 were done and 2 people dead. That still falls short of “several”. The only way you can bypass several gens is by killing all except one and by then a key is unnecessary except reopening the hatch after the fact.

  • Never use it. Very rarely have any use for it.

  • If a strategy works for you, use it. If it makes the other person salty, too bad.

  • It depends on how fast you dropped them. If they all went down super fast and stupidly I might very well come to the conclusion that they’re not worth saving. Or that you’re using Insidious and it is a trap. I could go either way, honestly.

  • I’m slowly prestiging my Ash just to earn those trophies, plus him being covered head to toe in blood makes the most sense if you’ve ever seen the movies. Have him prestiged twice. Otherwise I don’t see the point. It’s a huge waste of bloodpoints.

  • lol. Whatever. I have problems with certain killers. The Doctor isn’t one of them. I suggest you try another strategy against him because clearly yours doesn’t work.

  • @Renfear said:

I've had a great many matches against Doctor where there's three people down in the first 45 seconds. That's not an exaggeration. I mean, I'm a pretty good player. Not great, but not bad either. I've never beaten doctor. Ever. And the idea that the only way to do it is to run a specific perk kinda pisses me off. You HAVE to run Calm spirit to not lose against doctor and you HAVE to run Spine Chill to not lose against Ghostface or Meyers. What's the point if your entire build is just going to be insurance against specific killers?

I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, honestly. If you don’t have calm spirit then get yourself into a closet. You can hear his power wind up for Pete’s sakes. I’ve died at the hands of the Doctor plenty of times, but I’ve also escaped from him plenty of times, too. If he’s getting 3 people down that fast then you’re playing with potatoes. His power doesn’t have that capability even with add ons. He’s no Leatherface!

  • Use Calm Spirit and closets.

Disconnecting after ONE hit or ONE down is such garbage, as is disconnection in general.

I was playing a survivor and the other three had Disconnected literally seconds apart from each other leaving me with only 1 generator done and the killer throughly angry.

If you don't want to play the game. Don't play the game

I generally agree, but I have to confess that a few days ago I got downed within the first minute or so by a Huntress with an iri hatchet. Usually I’d continue to play but damn it this particular case just pissed me off. Killed myself immediately on the first hook and moved on. Am I proud of myself? No. But these kinds of add ons to me are completely BS, particularly when they are being used by people with the obvious skills to not even need it. You’re are damned rank 1 killer. Why are you using training wheels?

Ah yes invisible killer that moves towards you at Billy speeds, how avoidable.

I'm not saying that all complains are completely valid- trust me I've heard my fair shair of bullshit in my time, and most of the time it's because they played dumb but it's not like it's particularly easy to avoid a Spirit. If it was, she wouldn't be one of the two killers that almost everyone in tournaments flock to.

I can avoid the nurse far more often than I can manage to avoid Leatherface’s chainsaw. Try running away from her and then straight in her direction when you hear her “hooting” sound. She’ll overshoot you for at least two or three times before she catches on.

  • EGC only happens when either the gates are open or the hatch is closed. If the hatch is open it either means that there is only one person left alive and therefore blood warden wouldn’t activate because there is nobody left that you can hook. And if a key is used to open the hatch earlier it still wouldn’t change very much.

I guess I kind of understand what you’re saying but I still don’t know what starting EGC earlier has any effect on Iron Maiden. You still need to have a person on the hook and the gates open even if you do time it to the last generator.

  • The thing that really drives me crazy is performing a vault, falling 20 feet and still getting hit halfway down. They really need to fix that crap.

  • @Chaotyx said:

Easy solution: next killer has a perk that is the ability to kill survivors by your hand inside the exit gates, and only inside exit gates.

Happened to me on a Myers we trounced and I teabagged waiting for my hit to leave, and instead got hoisted and eviscerated - I laughed my ass off because I totally deserved it. He had tombstone but didn't hit anyone while in T3 so I was clueless. Funniest thing I've had happen to me.

Lot less enticing to stick around if there's a chance you'll get murdingly-urdered

Same thing happened to me several months back. Same exact situation except for me it was Spirit with rancor and I happened to be the obsession. Like you I also laughed hysterically and never forgot about it.

  • @The_C12H15NO2 said:

I don't mind the basement hooks offering. That makes enough sense to me as a surv or killer to want to know from the start where the basement is. But the hatch offering needs to go. It's been abused from the start by survivors. It takes what amounts to a participation award in the form of an escape from RNG to full on skill free escape in those situations.

The offering works both ways. It is just as much of a handicap for the survivors if the killer knows where the hatch is going to spawn. It gives him a heads up to plan accordingly.

  • People get so angry over stupid crap. 25,000 bp is a respectable score. Nothing more pathetic than a sore winner.

  • Let me guess: the one person that died, right?

  • Anything that affects skill checks for the worse and regresses gen repair I consider a perk/ability that slows gens down. Making skill checks appear in random spots on the screen and run both clockwise and counterclockwise and not allowing you to do anything until you “snap out of it” is highly distracting to most people, plus it can affect more than one person at a time. It certainly affects them more than a perk like Lightborn, lol. I’ve had all four survivors in third tier insanity and messing up their skill checks all over the place many times.

"Really the trick is just to keep doing matches over and over and try not to force it in one match. You'll get it."

    I love this advice.

I think the biggest thing people forget about when it comes to the killer adepts is that you don't need to get them on the first try. If you do, awesome, but making that your overall goal will just put unnecessary stress on yourself. Wraith took me a little over 5 tries, and Huntress took me days. It's okay to struggle a little bit.

I’ve also found that if you’re new to the killer then attempting to use their special abilities is actually more of a hindrance than anything. When I got my adept Hillbilly and Huntress trophies I doubt I managed to hit a single person with the saw or a hatchet.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1832855#Comment_1832855

On competent survivors that is no hindrance. Takes a few seconds to snap out of madness and the madness skill checks are easy.

On competent survivors NONE of the things killers use to slow gens are of much hindrence for long if they’re the only things a killer is relying upon to win. You think Ruin or Huntress Lullaby is any tougher? They’re not. So what is your point exactly? Because to me it sounds like you’re arguing just for the sake of it.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1832653#Comment_1832653

Most killers, including the ones you've mentioned there, don't have perks to slow anything down except maybe overcharge on Doc. Myers at least has dying light. Pwyf for speed boost. And STBFL for faster recovery on attacks.

I found his adept one of the easier ones to get. I did it with scratched mirror, too.

The Doctor doesn’t need perks to slow down gens. Sure they help, but shocking people to insanity works wonders all by itself.

  • @tactic said:

Seem similar ideas before, limiting players even more wouldn’t be great

The fourth tier could offer better versions of perks than is currently available. The new system would apply to killers as well as players. I don’t see it as limiting players so much as removing the potential abuse of crutch perks. There would be less complaints about things being OP if you couldn’t chain perks in an OP way. It isn’t individual perks that are OP, it’s the possible combinations that can be deadly.

  • @Negi said:

I don't know why it's not just a 4k. Survivors don't need to double pip to adept, but we do? Okaaaaaaay.

I actually thought it was that way all along until last month when I tried out Ghostface for the first time, got 4K and got nothin for it, presumably because a person I was chasing refused to move farther from another player that was hooked. It was like, #########?

  • @lagosta said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/215068/making-adepts-as-killer

Yeah, some achievements didn't age well. Check Left for Dead: as the last survivor alive, manage to repair the last generator and escape through the exit gates.

I got that one in February without even trying for it so it’s still possible. Basically it needs to be 99ed when the last guy snuffs it, and killer to be fairly oblivious.

  • I don’t play killer all that often but I’ve gotten all of the ones that I’ve tried for with relative ease, all except for Myers who doesn’t really have very good perks to work with to slow anything down.

I’ve earned Adept Doctor, Hillbilly, Huntress, Cannibal, Spirit, Ghostface, and Demogorgon. It’s funny because some of these I don’t even remember the last time playing them so they may very well have been one and done. I’m a little surprised that I haven’t earned either wraith or hag yet but it’s probably because I thought I had already earned them so I’ve been using other perks. The others I either don’t own or haven’t played yet, or in the case of Twins and Blight have only tried just to dick around with. The trick to getting the adepts is probably in not waiting to get to red ranks before trying.

  • I had to forego my usual totem sweep when I discovered some bones that were inaccessible and uncleansible next to a hay baler. Not doing bones in this case at least leaves a chance of NOED going to one of the others. Fortunately, the killer wasn’t using hexes this time.

  • Teleporting seems like too much of a rip off of the Friday the 13th game. He didn’t have this ability in any of the movies except for bad editing. Copying that game in any way opens up grounds for lawsuits. They’d be wise to come up with different ideas.

Teleporting would be OP in this game as most maps aren’t large enough to make it necessary, and Jason in most of his incarnations isn’t slow, and certainly never was slower than Myers even when totally undead. I could see him as something of a cross between Myers and Trapper, but at this point other than his skin I don’t see him adding anything special to the game, honestly.

  • Let’s face it, people are useless, which is why I usually take it upon myself to be the one with small game and seek them out. Even if ruin or dying isn’t in play I still want them gone in case of NOED. Also, Huntress’ Lullaby eventually becomes a huge handicap that can’t be tolerated.

  • I could see Hodder working on a Hatchet video game before anything Friday the 13th related. I don’t think that lawsuit is going to settled anytime soon, and it has to be completely settled before anybody starts on a new F13 game. We’re talking years before we’d get to play it.

One survivor was dead, one escaped with a key via hatch which I promptly closed and triggered EGC, one survivor was slugged without unbreakable and one survivor was looping me at killer shack. Neither gate had been opened. Unless I'm missing something, it has to be hacks.

    A second key, maybe?

  • I absolutely LOVE contesting hatches at the end of the match with the killer, and its always the best when they are already standing on the hatch waiting for the third survivor to die, confident that they have everything under control. But then I come from out of nowhere at the last possible second, taking them totally by surprise and get in their face. The really good players will keep their cool and close the hatch, but many of them will reflexively hit you without thinking and when they do, that’s when the joy happens!

  • I’m not sure in the OP’s case what there is left to “give up”. The survivors opened the gate and have effectively won because there is nothing you can do to stop them from leaving. So honestly telling the OP “Don’t give up” is pretty pointless.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 20
