Hillbilly - Doesn’t matter how bad he’s doing one mistake from the survivor team and it’s game over. One bad looper on your team and he will generate so much pressure from that.
Legion - Like watching paint dry....except somehow even less interactive
Ghostface - Busted, cheap, and they all camp anyway.
-
Games full of hackers. I had yet another survivor with permanent haste.
I blame the windows store that always seems to have the most hackers. Which makes sense, the XBL players get it for free so they dont really care.
-
“you can only hope the spiritplayer do a mistake”
Kind of like how the game has been for M1 killers for a number of years?
Undying/Ruin is overrated. I’m beginning to see that clearly now. As killer I’m already going back to old builds.
Also what you say about spirit...unfun, no counterplay, ironic with the dead hard avatar.
-
Distortion is fine as it is. You’re meant to learn and adapt. If you lose a token while self-caring then you know the killer has nurses calling and not to heal in their terror radius. If you lose a token after a hook you know they have BBQ and that you’re going to need to use lockers. You can play around auras anyway but Distortion lets you know for sure what they have. This is very powerful in SWF.
It’s not meta because 1) As above you can usually tell if the killer has any aura reading perks once you have experience with the game and 2) Aura reading isnt the be all and end all of the game. It a Pig comes at you with BBQ it’s easy to stealth by the time she gets there kr just loop her for the next 10 minutes.
-
As killer: When I get "outplayed" not by skill but by perks.
As survivor: If the killer is being campy or tunneling hard and the other survivors are waiting around the hook all too happy to feed the killer.

Interesting topic. This perk is unfair in situations when there is nothing you can do to play around it, and it buys survivor team a lot of time, sometimes making difference between win and loss, escape or death for survivors. My biggest problem with it is that not only it cant be counterplayed when its used for distance, but it counters a lot of killers abilities, and skillful plays using that ability just by pressing a single button. It feels extremely cheap in this situations, because there is absolutely nothing you as a killer can do to play around dead hard, and its not a skillful play by survivor either, all you need to do is press a button in a correct timing.
For example Punishment of the Damned is easily avoidable on reaction. There is literally nothing you can do, Dead Hard will always guarantee a survivor one "outplay" over it. I dont play Huntress, but i think same applies to her Hatchet throw? Blights Lethal Rush: in most situations killer wont have another object nearby to bait a deadhard or time/charges to do it, so it will be one free escape for survivor with DH. Hillbillies Chainsaw. DH over Bear Trap. This is probably the most notable killers abilities that are freely dodged by DH.
While DH for distance becomes less relevant the longer the match goes, since there will be less pallets and more deadzones, DH against this killer abilities is always free and easy unpreventable dodge. And its my main problem with this perk, since i main Blight and Pyramid Head. It always feels cheap when i shoudve landed a cool PotD shot, but a survivor just pressed "E" lmao.
And as others said the more survivors have this perk in a match, the more impact it has on the outcome. I lost many matches solely due to Dead Hard, and the time it buys for survivors. No doubt about it. I think if anyone will count how much time he lost due to DH every match, results are gonna be shocking.
This is why I consider it the most unfun thing in the entire game.
Against a standard M1 killer it's insanely powerful. You can DH for distance to a strong window/pallet and the killer can't do anything about it. That just adds so much time to the chase. If you mindgame them you should feel rewarded but then tap E to undo and you end up feeling robbed.
If you play a ranged killer like Deathslinger, Huntress (without add ons) or to an extent Plague you sometimes only have a small window to make a shot, you manage to get one in but they nullify it with DH. Sometimes you can go for long range skillful shots with DS or Huntress and it's a really good and impressive shot, but again instead of feeling rewarded you feel robbed when they render it void by tapping E.
Finally you have Blight and Nurse. It doesn't matter if you see DH coming or not, even if you don't swing you're still taking the stun. It's just another stun and cooldown you're forced to sit through until DH is out of the way.
DH is a reason why I don't like playing killers like blight/nurse/huntress/deathslinger, because it sucks the fun out of them by being able to perfectly counter their abilities without any counterplay itself. It's also why I think Huntress should keep her exhaustion add ons but all signs point to them being taken away from her sooner or later.
-
Just do totems. For my games honestly 9 times out of 10 Undying goes first.
-
All the survivors with that many hours play swf and swf make up most of the lobbies.
Play solo survivor and you get lumped with the people with 100-300 hours.
-
Yes?
-
Survivor: Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, Sprint Burst, Unbreakable, self-care, iron will, adrenaline, spine chill, borrowed time
Killers: BBQ, Ruin, Undying, Pop, NOED, corrupt intervention
The killer list is a little harder because it depends on the specific killer for example Infectious is meta on oni and nurse, sloppy is meta on wraith, thana is meta on legion, stridor for spirit, tinkerer for hillbilly

How is a perk unfair what is not working 90% of the time.
Dead hard can be countered easily.
if you say Dead hard is unfair then a lot of things on the killer side are also unfair.
Dedicated servers, bloodlust, Spirit fury enduring combo, aim assist, lunge of killers, insta downs, moris etc etc
there are a lot of other unfair perks on the survivor side and you choose the one who is probably the worse because its not working mostly.
How are dedicated servers unfair? They were put in to make the game more fair
Bloodlust - Was put in to counter infinites which were unfair. Still some extremely strong windows where bloodlust does nothing. Maybe 2 and 3 are unfair but 1 is kind of needed to counter how strong holding W can be
enduring/spirit fury - takes 2 perk slots and 2 pallet breaks. If DH required 2 perk slots and 2 pallet stuns I dont think anyone would hate it as much.
Aim assist? It hurts more than it helps lol!
Lunges - Really?
instadowns - Most are balanced and have requirements. Keyword most.
Moris - Nobody is going to deny that moris are unfair. Not sure how that makes DH fair.
You’re complaining mostly about base mechanics. It would be like me saying pallets are unfair.
-
Don’t feel bad. Look at the recent tournament. Its a good example because it wasnt 1 player making mistakes, every team got multiple shots at playing killer and pretty much all of them got roasted.
You need to slug if you want to win. You can’t go chase -> hook -> chase -> hook, but then 3-4 Unbreakable makes slugging redundant not just due to the self-pick-up but the extra recovery speed gets them all off the ground fast enough that you can’t really take advantage.
Unless you’re going to play Nurse then there is a cap on the success you can have with killer. You’ll come across some games you just won’t be able to win no matter how good you were.
Play nurse and slug off the bat, or dodge 3-4 man swfs. Or just accept the game for what it is and try not to take it as a personal failure.
-
It does have a consequence he loses his power, however I agree he should have a further drawback to offset the risk of revealing him.
You can spend a few seconds trying to get the camera to focus on GF, if at any point in this he walks past a tree or something you get nothing out of it and he gets your location. It’s that part I feel is unfair. The reveal mechanics are so wonky often its a huge risk trying to reveal him.
I think depleting your own personal stalk meter is a fair trade.
-
Define tunneling.
There’s prioritising hooks or there’s chasing someone off the hook and not giving a damn about DS or not.
-
Bubba is pretty trash at camping too. Especially against a co-ordinated swf.
If you hit then even a second after the unhook animation starts the survivor on the hook magically levitates off.
Try to get both and either the unhooked survivor gets i-frames because it counts as them still being unhooked, or they get BT anyway.
Try to go for one a little bit away from the hook and they’ll just make sure their friends rush in for the unhook.
Basically latency screws him pretty hard.

Yep. That's what I said when they announced they would change thana. It was arguably decent only on Legion and Plague and the update will only benefit those two, imho.
Legion is also awful with Ruin. Being forced to mend and watching your gen progress regress. Now you’re hit with the choice of healing and watching your gen regress, or jumping on it and having a big fat 20% repair speed debuff. Lose/lose. In addition with 4 stacks of thana and Thrill of the hunt you now need to hold M1 on a totem uninterrupted for 26 seconds to cleanse it.
Sounds so much fun!

In fairness everything is M1, no matter what that killer presents a survivor.
And that’s an area the developers have disappointed in. They talked for a long time about less m1 and more objectives but nothing major has ever really come out of it.
Meanwhile Legion is like 2 or 3times as much M1 holding as any other killer
-
Dead Hard is like old DS. It can delay that highly important 1st hook.
Wish I could find that game of Umbra as Oni and an early game dead hard completely screws her as the survivor makes it to a god pallet and then just combos off that.
I’ve had a number of games where a DH for distance just adds so much time onto the first chase, often it ends with me having to change targets mid chase at that point which leaves me with an injure rather than a hook.
Anything on the survivor side that delays the 1st hook is extremely powerful. It’s why old DS was infinitely worse than new DS and people forget that. Exhaustion perks are the same.
-
Show us a screenshot of you looking at him that can help.
If you’re anything like me you may need to look up higher. Some of us look down a little bit to try and have him centered but you need to look up a little.
Its still wonky the killer will never be perfect but it helps a little bit. I think there’s a lot of latency involved with GF.
-
@TheClownIsKing said:
Because survivors find doing gens boring despite Legion giving the survivors something else to do besides gens. Go figure...
Holding m1 to mend/heal every few minutes......totally different to doing gens!
Seriously though its the “sat immobile while holding M1” that survivors complain about which is why so many despise Legion.
-
It will be forever legion.
-
For context just remember how much survivors used to complain about Enduring/Spirit fury when it was meta. “Itz Da fwee hIt”
Dead Hard is basically the survivor equivalent. Except it takes 1 perk slot rather than 2 and doesnt require you to do anything beforehand.
DH is like if killers had enduring/SF on a button press every chase. Grants you a freebie you weren’t gonna get otherwise.
-
Aim dressing aka auto-aim that doesn’t exist according to the developers.
It locks onto where the survivor was half a second ago rather than the position they are currently. Like it can’t keep up with the survivors wiggling/360 movement since they can pivot on the spot so fast, I wonder how much latency is involved.
Its always been in the game but got worse when dedicated servers were added.
Of course the developers will still downplay and deny the extent of it. Its basically a free dead hard for survivors.

Only problem I see with this is freddys lack of TR on sleeping survivors - does unnerving presence work then?
Probably not but ideally they'll be missing so many repair/healing skillchecks that they will mostly be awake.

Seems fun. Killers don't always have to run a sweaty tryhard build.
That's it really. Running the meta gets stale after a while. I'm trying to find new builds that synergize well and are a lot of fun. This build is high risk/high reward.
If anybody has any more let me know. It's fun to use non-meta builds for a while to make a change, if you get a few bad games you can always go back to a meta killer with a meta build and kick some booty.
I've recently been doing Trapper full totem builds. Got Devour active both times 🤣it's only the DS/DH/Unbreakable sweat lords that kind of ruin the builds. Your average survivors aren't too difficult and it's probably nice for them to have something different to play against.
-
@MrLimonka Honest people miss plenty even at red ranks. Bearing in mind even missing one causes a huuuuuuuge regression penalty. Basically free Pop.
You could use Doctor but everyone uses Doctor. Doctor doesn't have the dress add ons though which give you more %
In all honesty it's fun, gimmicky builds like these that make Undying fun which is why I hope it doesn't get nerfed just due to Ruin.
-
NOED is a bit risky as they may take out your totems before it's active.
Totem builds are quite gimmicky. If you're going to run a totem build you should have Devour somewhere in there imo as it has the chance of winning the game for you more than any other.

Is a free chase extender really bad though? There are many survivor perks that extend chases but we don't persecute them like we do for Dead Hard.
Sprint burst is just as bad imo and very powerful if all survivors run it.
BL and Lithe aren't as common because they are more situational.

Dead Hard is one of the more OP perks in the game. It's just been in the game long enough for people to accept. It always blew my mind that people lost their minds over original Mettle of Man when it was a one timr only use perk with an aura reading down side. Dead Hard can be used at least 3 times per match and extends chases big time. Even DS and unbreakable can only be used once.
Like many of the stronger survivor perks it's really more of the fact that multiple survivors can use these perks that creates the issue. If one guy has Dead Hard it's not that big of an issue. If 3 or 4 have it? Different story. Same with the other strong perks.
They really need a perk budget of $12. Depending on usage you'd have a list of $5 perks (DH, DS, Unbreakable), $4 perks (spine chill, we'll live forever, etc). This would lower the amount of second chances (there would still be some). It would also lead to more perk variety.
But they'll never implement that. So just be ready to go against multiple DH, DS, Unbreakable, etc.
lol speak of the devil. Just saw this and had to share.
Yeah it's interesting how everyone is so focused on how Undying/Ruin needs to be nerfed because it's so popular yet we've just "accepted" these kind of combos.
They can't be picked up, they can't be slugged. Even outside of the 1 self-pickup part of the perk, the faster recovery itself is extremely powerful and renders slugging for pressure mostly redundant.
It's funny because at one point in this game there was a gen 90% complete. Someone gets unhooked before I've even taken 5 steps away by the person with BT. Now I know I can't hit them because they'll have BT, I wanted to keep them off the gen they had been working on near them but I need to hit them to get BT out of the way, and then if I chased them I can't pick them up, if I slug them they get up anyway.
So I just left them and surrendered the generator to them. Chased the other guy instead. No matter what I did the survivor had a way out.
I know people get fussy over any accusations of bias but when one side often has to have commonly used perks changed and the other side is allowed to keep the same meta for years it's easy to see why these kind of feelings crop up.
-
To me it's the most unfun thing in the entire game.
DH like a lot of perks depends where it is used. In the middle of a dead zone it's not a major problem, using it for distance to reach an extremely strong window however and it's insanely powerful and can buy the team so much time. That's not even mentioning those times where you mindgame a survivor, close the gap and they tap E to undo it.
It's essentially a third health state when used correctly. In fact to be honest seeing how often this gets used for distance it's not that all that different to old Mettle of Man. You don't see it visually but it's an artificial chase extender which requires very little skill.

its enough for one person to have ds for killer not to tunnel you, if you have at least one ds or just obsession perk, good killer wont ever try to tunnel unless hes in a situation where there is basically nothing he can do
Nah from what I've seen most that intend to tunnel don't give a damn about DS and tunnel anyway. You can feel the difference when a survivor doesn't have it and they're out extra early.
-
@CashelP14 said:
You need to learn to identify where all the gens are early on that map. As long as the survivors are decent then it's never that much of a problem.
Will say in solo q this map can be extremely annoying since they nearly always create the 3 gen.
Last time I got this as survivor me and a friend re playing 2 man swf and we rushed down the map to try and take out the middle gen while the two other knuckleheads did all the gens on one side and handed the killer an easy 3 gen.
The end was so much harder than it needed to be. Its like some survivors just dont look at how many gens are on one side. They were a 2 man as well so there’s no excuse.

There's a difference though, most people don't have a problem with corrupt and pop. Well i don't at least. Because yes it can be effective and good but it doesn't just do the work and win the game for you.
Ruin, Undying, Tinkerer dont win the game for you. If anything its actually a worse combo than corrupt and pop against swf. They’ll shred through your totems fairly quickly.
-
Pretty much. The red ranks are just tryhards these days. If you don’t bring the meta you suffer for it.
-
If shes proxy camping too then there’s nothing you can do. Best option is to force the trap and use borrowed time.
If by some miracle you’ve met a Hag who actually goes far from the hook then crouch walk when you get close enough to the hook. Maybe 12m or so.
-
“But how is that not the single best add-on in the entire game?”
Because at the end of the day it’s still just a Wraith. If a top tier killer has these add ons it would be scary but wraith isn’t exactly a powerhouse.
-
Proxy camp goes hand in hand with tunneling. The killer won’t stray too far from their prey.
It’s probably most games it happens it feels like, whoever gets caught first gets tunneled. It tends to vary by killer though.
For example if it’s a Myers or Plague you might be ok. If it’s a Spirit, Freddy, or stealth killer then it’s almost 100% confirmed that player is getting tunneled hard.
-
Its a trash map. Everytime I pick a slow killer I’m guaranteed to get this map. Camp 3 gens or lose, yay so much fun 🙄
-
This year has been horrendous.
-
If you have to ask...
-
I don’t think many people will disagree with you there.
-
BT, DS and Unbreakable have a place.
Anything that causes exhaustion not so much.
-
He was fun to play as due to the invisibility and aura reading but those same things made him awful to play against. So as killer I miss old freddy but as survivor I'm glad he's gone.

Wraith are too weak, Clown the antiloop is so weak without addons, the Trapper.. yes but without addon it's hard, for me sure.🤤

The Nurse was my first.. design and its power was my first interest from my first game on DBD... But after her nerve it was not the same.
I tried on Thursday to give her a chance... I won a lot of games, my teleports was perfect, I didn't miss any teleports and I was very fast without thinking... The obstacles were nothing it was hit, slugging one survivor for down another.. the speed, the speed at which I was doing it...... But the next day it was worse than bad, I don't know if it's me or the Nurse but I can't teleport myself to the survivor without missing a hit... a few centimeters
I want to give it another chance but I'm afraid of tbags and clickclick..🙃
Hag has remained unchanged for years. Maybe she is not popular enough to get nerfed. However a certain streamer has been making a lot of noise about Hag so I wouldn't be surprised if she got some changes. She's also vulnerable to clickclick groups as they set off all her traps while you carry one of them to the hook.
Play Spirit and enjoy her before the nerf/nerve. Don't worry about what happens in a few months just enjoy what you have now. Like Undying/Ruin, you have to enjoy it while you can 😊
-
Imo you're only hurting the team if you don't bring DS. You're giving the killer a free pass to tunnel you out of the game asap. At least with DS you have the chance to buy more time.
-
Spirit and PH will most likely be receiving further nerves. Deathslinger will get a nerve sooner or later.
Play wraith, trapper or clown. no nerves.
-
Yeah it's one of the most frustrating things about him. With m&a it's meant to be 16m but there's a huge difference between Myers at 16m, Hag with m&a at 16m, and then this guy. He feels more like 8m.
-
All you can do really is run the meta. Daily challenges become tiresome if they want you to play a killer you're inexperienced with or who is just plain weak.
-
Doctor is a noob stomper. Anyone can pick him up and destroy weak or even average survivors. However your best of the best survivors know how to exploit every weaknesss he has.
There has always been noob stompers in the game but I’ve never seen one quite like new doc where it appears like 2 different killers at times based on how he comes across in strength between the two teams.

i think they should switch thrill's effect of making totems take longer to break with undying's aura reading. it would match both perks better anyway since thrill of the hunt would be for info and undying would be for keeping totems alive plus it would allow you to know if theres a remaining totem for a hex to transfer to.
The point of making totems take longer to cleanse is so that you have time to get over to them and defend them when you hear the notification. Thrill needs that.
Besides if you had Ruin constantly respawn and it took longer to cleanse survivors would be very unhappy.
Thats the problem with the original suggestion here. Removing the aura reading wont do anything long term but nerf Undying into a luck totem, since at that point you would purely have to rely on luck and wouldnt be able to defend your totems without the knowledge of when they’re being cleansed.
Survivors just dont want to deal with taking out totems, or taking out Ruin multiple times. Thats the big issue. No matter what you do with aura readings its always gonna come back to that eventually.
