High rank killers are no different to low rank these days. Its just people boosted by strong killers/add ons, tunneling and NOED.
Ironically DS is pretty good at weeding them out. It ensures that tunneling a survivor out of the game asap is more difficult for them
-
I agree. Red ranks were fun around late 2018/early 2019. Plenty of great players on both sides.
Now its just potatoes that have been boosted by swf and sprint burst vs tunneling freddys/spirits with NOED. It’s depressing.
-
Ranks are watered down. If you play solo its expected that you will die in 9 out of 10 games.
Rank reset changes and an influx of new players over the last year are to blame.
-
Do you mean rework or buff?
Rework: Legion, Ghostface, Freddy
Buff: Clown, Pig, Trapper
Adjustments: Doc, Dudslinger
Maybe Freddy could get away with a few adjustments actually.
-
1) Thumb across the throat. If you ever seen wrestling its what the Undertaker used to do before the Tombstone. This signals to a cocky survivor “you’re dead”.
2) Point down at the ground. This is for all the Wraith players out there. It means “I’m staying right here by the hook buddy”.
3) Facepalm. This is when you see a survivor make a boneheaded play that gets them hit.
-
The thing is once a gen is done its gone for good. You’ve probably heard some killers rant about “tunneling gens” which sounds ridiculous but there is something behind it. Getting a gen out if the game is like getting a survivor out of the game. Its gonna lower the objective count and change the efficiency of survivors. Consider this, 4 survivors trying to do 4 gens or 4 surviors trying to do 5 gens? 3 survivors doing 2 gens or 3 survivors doing 3 gens? In the latter example they can split up giving them more map pressure, or rush 1 gen in half the time
Heres how swf affects the game as an example from 2 games I had recently...
1) I knew this team wasn’t a full swf. Not sure if it was solo or 2 man combination. I see one survivor constantly trying to finish a gen thats almost complete. I kill that survivor and hit the gen. That one gen regressed to nothing because nobody knew about it. Thus saving me a generator.
2) This was a full swf team (all friends on steam). One gen was almost complete. I kill the Nea that was working on it alone (Only survivor there and Discordance didn’t activate) but I knew they would tell their friends about the gen. Nea is dead but i cant afford to stand around a gen so I turn my back for 5 seconds and sure enough someone runs to complete it.
This happens a lot. Hell I play 2 man swf and me and my friend will tell each other if we have a gen almost complete but the killer starts to chase one of us. This gets 1 gen out of the game and stops the killer making it regress.
Not to mention swf can communicate to rush specific gens like center of the map gens ensuring the final few gens are far apart. We do this on Azarov’s so that the killer doesn’t hold one side. As we only play 2 man swf though sometimes we get 3 genned as theres no communication with the other survivors and some survivors dont think about what gens they’re doing. In a 4 man swf though this wouldnt happen.
-
It’s true. They tell survivors that escaping doesn’t matter and yet they always feel tilted by a 2k.
Its ironic because people say Clown is underpowered yet its easy to get a 2k with him. Killer mains define balanced as the killers that can get the 4k consistently.

SoloQ is awfull and most times you'll die, but considering how points and rank work on survivor you'll be fine. I reach rank 1 as survivor without even being able to escape in most games.
What triggers me a lot is that when I play Killer I play against a 4 coordinated and god gen rushers survivors, but when I'm playing SoloSurvivor and the killer is chasing me for an entire 2 minutes, only 1 gen pops. That freaks me out.
But thats the problem with solo queue.
”most times you’ll die” “without even being able to escape in most games”
Who wants to play a game where you put in so much effort with little to no chance of winning? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. That’s why I gave up on solo survivor.
I couldn’t care less about pips thats just a consolation prize. I want to escape! Via the exit gates!
-
You can tell which people in here have never played survivor beyond rank 20.
Those survivors you come to the forums to complain about? The ones that run you for 5 gens? Yeah it took a lot of hours to be able to do that.
If survivors took no skill a lot of people wouldn’t be complaining about the current state of survivor and red ranks where many tend to last about 20 seconds in a chase.

They didnt know i was a r1 when they quit. Dont excuse their behaviour, as far as Im concerned they should be banned for a week. Theyre lucky im not the head of bhvr or tgey would be.
They knew they went down fast, and they knew you were using a killer that has likely been dominating them previously.
Fact is you WERE rank 1. They could tell something is amiss and you should not have been playing against them.
I dont know why you’re so tilted and think people deserve a weeks ban for quitting. Thats so entitled. “Dear new players, you need to stay in the game and let me walk all over you or its a weeks ban” yeah theres that killer main entitlement right there. Keep that up and you’re gonna put new players off from sticking with this game.
-
oh man. The posts in here. Let me play the worlds smallest violin.
The game isnt that unbalanced. A few maps need changing and a few perks that boost mediocre players could be changed too but the game isnt completely one sided
-
Imo Billy is the only one that needs a hard nerf and he’s getting It.
Some of the others like Freddy just need tweaks.
-
It depends. As others have said it pairs well with Nurses but please dont do the sloppy/thana/nurses wraith or ghostface builds they are so boring to play against.
Sloppy can be more of a snowball perk. You can feel it as survivor. The killer is hooking his next survivor but you’re still healing with someone. It does increase the chances of you finding survivors injured too.
-
They’re baby survivors. Probably been getting wrecked all day. They go against a Doctor who dominates low ranks, a rank 1 no less and you say yourself you down them “pretty quick”.
People want to have fun. Ive seen multiple rank 1 players post screenshots like this.
The matchmaking is atrocious and I don’t blame them one bit for disconnecting.
-
This is why I don’t get the devs mindset when it comes to the game...
Devs: We’re nerfing gen times of multiple survivors on a gen so that killers have a chance to get across the map before a gen is complete
Players: Why not just stop making ridiculously large maps?
Devs: 😠
This post inspired by Ormond. Start out and Discordance lights up on the very opposite corner gen within 5 seconds of the game starting.
As for the strength of holding W this is true and has been noticed for a while. It’s especially prevalent on indoor maps. This is why despite some people calling for Bloodlust to be nerfed I think Bloodlust 1 has a place in the game. Bloodlust 2 and especially 3 should go since those are normally used by bad players to tackle loops on a 5 gen chase, but bloodlust 1 is mosty used when it comes to survivors holding W.
-
Only as killer, usually when using aura reading perks. They can see the perks themselves but I assume some of them either dont know the game that well or only play survivor.
-
He aint that bad. Leave my boy alone.
Sure he will suffer against a swf that splits up, or large maps, but which killers dont?
-
Yeah its happened to me since 2018 on 2 different PCs. No idea what it is, but yeah that little hitch causes you to miss attacks
-
Yeah red ranks are completely watered down. Thats why its almost impossible to win as solo survivor.
Rank changed and an influx of new players over the last year and this is what we get. Also solo becomes more miserable so players like myself dont play solo anymore and only play survivor if its gonna be swf which contributes to the problem.
Around late 2018/early 2019 aside from the occassional potatoes red ranks were fine. Its true for killer too, you used to see so many good killers at red ranks. Good huntress, good Bubba, good Myers. Now its just potatoes carried by Freddy, spirit and NOED.

Maybe they should fix the frustrating gameplay mechanics and designs which is causing people to dc in the first place, just a thought.
Why do that when you can take the easy way out?

The game is becoming unplayable. In 4/9 games I played last night at least 1 person dced at the start of the game.
Don't like the killer? Dc.
Get downed first early in the game while out of position? Dc.
A teammate makes a stupid play? Dc.
So many survivors are acting like petulant children. This is why the dc penalty was 100% necessary. Pls fix. Thanks.
I dont see how its any different to before, except replace dc with 1st hook suicide.
In most of my games as killer a survivor will give up on either the 1st of 2nd hook. Its only full swf groups that seem to go through all 3 hooks.
Most likely this is due to how depressing solo survivor has become
-
Agreed. I had a speed hacker the other day. It wasnt 200mph speed hacking but it was obvious something was amiss. He denied it but his long list of vacbans/gamebans tells me this guy is no angel
-
What they did with his add ons is probably the best way for them to go in the future - by that I mean add ons that dont affect the charge time or cooldown.
Everyone complains killers powers are weak without add ons. But when you have add ons that affect the charging, cooldown or effectiveness of a power you need to make them weak at base. If they ditched these kinds of add ons and made more creative add ons, then killers powers could be stronger at base.
-
It doesnt take THAT long to get it guys. Both red add ons? Sure, but just tuft of hair? Not too much. Especially not with judiths journal and nemesis. I tried it out the other day and it was surprisingly fast.
-
I dont wanna say “git gud” but....
These 5 gen chases become less and less frequent as your skill and knowledge increases. I used to get looped so bad but that hasnt happened in well over a year

DC Penalty is needed for a reason. Since they removed it i get tons of DCs per day again.
I had a cheater earlier. What was I meant to do sit and carry on?
Cheating is getting worse in the game. Penalties shouldnt be back until the devs do something about it
-
Clown main here. Hes good at chases but not quite good enough to be top tier. By that I mean Nurse/Spirit strong. Clown still has to respect god pallets if you cant get the survivor before they make it there, Nurse doesn’t.
I’m working on builds for him though. Normally everyone goes full gen regression with mixed results. Im trying a different strategy
-
Oni. He’s fun and strong.
Then Clown, hes an acquired taste but I find him fun.
Deathslinger I didnt enjoy too much, and as you say a controller isnt as ideal as a mouse
Legion blows. Dont bother with this one
-
Dont trust the recommended or minimum requirements. The game is extremely poorly optimized.
-
And there we go, resident killer mains to say everything is fine yet again.
If you just stopped the screams for 60 seconds what difference would it make? Survivors would still need to waste time snapping out of it. Only difference is they wouldnt give away their location for the easy tunnel.....unless thats what you want
-
Its really not fine. Solo survivor is an unplayable crapshow. Killer is ruined by toxic 4 man groups that only want to troll. Some of the map design is hands down the worst map design of any major game on the market right now, and some things in the game from years back are still extremely unbalanced
-
If theres a Blendette spending more time blending while the last survivor does gens, I always let that survivor go and hunt down the Blendette.
You arent having the hatch is you sit and do nothing.
-
It should actually be Dead ‘Ard
-
Fix his terror radius for a start.
-
Killer can listen for sounds?
Lol are you playing an old version of DBD? Half the time you wont hear anything in this game even with a good headset.
-
Its been in the game since before dc penalties came in and still hasnt been fixed.
Be thankful the penalties are disabled for now because in future you will be eating a time-out for this. Apparantly you would deserve one for quitting the game 🙄
-
The least fun killer to play against by far. I actually hate this killer.
Like old Freddy he can be fun to play as ironically just due to how broken he feels.
The sloppy/thana/nurses build is cancer. Deffo a hook suicide on that one
-
Yeah I like how Monto has Jake with the man bun, Puppers has Dwearder, now even Tru3 can slap a flatcap and vest on David.
Where are the lookalikes for the rest of us? 🙁
-
No, the point of BT is to allow you a safe unhook when its impossible. When I play so many killers circle the hook endlessly that if you dont have BT you dont get a safe unhook.
Dont give me the tanking a hit excuse either, you shouldnt have to let some camping chump have a free hit. They will likely get one anyway though.
-
Hook suicides exist due to slowdown Legion and Hawkins
-
Yeah it’s awful. I see so many mediocre survivors carried by this perk. I have so many games where I run the killer for ages, no exhaustion perks. I had to put a lot of practise into this, and now when I’m chased there’s pressure because I’m not allowed to make any mistakes or I go down early. Meanwhile when I play killer I see so many who mess up loops or shack but it’s ok because they have an “undo” button. Which makes me question why I bothered “getting good” when I could have just took the easy way out and brought a perk like everyone else.
It also really makes new Nurse not fun to play. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Even if you predict DH and don’t swing, you still need to blink and then eat the fatigue. So you do a blink to catch up to a survivor, then do a second precise blink to cut them off....the fun of nurse is the rewarding feeling from landing those blinks, but the survivor just taps E and robs you. So even if you dont swing on the second blink, you need to eat the fatigue, and then wait for tokens to recharge before you can go again. At least with old nurse after DH you could blink immediately but with new nurse the slowdown of the token system against survivors just makes her unfun to play.
Likewise for Huntress. I see so many good Huntress players on twitch and they put so many hours into practising their aim and learning about which objects in the game you can through over, or holes you can throw through. Seeing a Huntress have 1 second to get a tricky shot, and she times it perfectly and does an amazing throw that looked impossible.....just for a survivor to tap E and rob her of that shot. Its really not fun design for the killer. She has exhaustion add ons now but I think it’s clear they will be removed when they give her an add on pass as survivors are complaining about them the most after Iri heads.
-
This happens to me too and people thought I was exagerrating. Moris can be extremely frequent some days.
People here talk about how hard killers have it but they also seem to forget how easy killers can have it. Bring purple/red add ons, NOED and an ebony and killer can be braindead easy.

So what will you do when you learn that you aren't losing from OP OoO?
Its not just about the huge advantage it gives them, its the fact that aside from Adept Laurie hunters the majority of people only use this perk to be toxic and ruin the game for everyone else. Its always a 4 man, theres the OoO with wallhacks that wants to distract the killer, then theres the buffoon that runs around click click clicking with the flashlight waiting for the saves, then the 2 left to rush gens.
It irritates most people and ruins the atmosphere of the game.
-
Lol the lone red rank. Thats normally me when I play solo. Its impossible to escape.

I really hope the DC penalty is not gone for much longer. The game is practically unplayable now that anyone can and will leave when the match doesn't go their way. I've even stopped bringing items and offerings into matches because it all goes to waste when 1 person DCs.
And its funny because I called this months ago.
I knew it would be removed eventually due to a bug. 100% knew it. Now after months of players being confined of course its going to be worse than ever.
They should have never had it and just gone with the points penalty like other games.
I can guarantee you this wont be the only time its removed.
-
I keep getting Hawkins. Like the past 3 days it has been the most frequent map every day. Somethings not right.

didnt the devs mention that they had more maps they were working on but didnt have time to include them? youre leaving out a bit of information thats pretty important.
Hawkins is the most unbalanced map in the game and yet it stays and no confirmation of them touching it so no, no I didn’t leave anything out.
Also all the maps were adjusted in the killers favour so when they say they were working on more look at the context
-
And killers aren’t?
you get chased by a huge guy with a knife....you run.....and they get salty and camp you if you dare to evade them for too long. Like is there some kind of “you get 3 pallets then you need to go down” rule I never heard of?
-
Ah the typical killer main persecution post.
Funny how you say the game is survivor sided and mention maps...
2 of the 3 safest maps, which a 53% and 55% kill rate had to be nerfed because they were “too strong”
But 2 of the deadliest maps with a whopping 69% and 66% kill rate remain unchanged.
But please, do tell us how the devs are survivor sided...
-
Cus survivor blows. Its just full of people who have no intention of playing normally. They just want to troll other survivors or troll the killer. That or you get put with rank 17s who blow up your gen because they cant hit skillchecks and just spend the rest of the game hiding at the edge of the map.
