If I could only change one thing, remove Hillbilly's overheat. That change turned me from a 50/50 player who plays both sides into a survivor main who reluctantly plays killers for rift challenges (not because I "only played Hillbilly", because Hillbilly wasn't even my main he was my secondary, but I am too scared to have fun with another killer just to see them get nerfed down multiple tiers and become unfun for literally no reason).
-
If 4 out of 5 people aren't having fun in a match, that's bad game design, simple as that.
-
Not even a question about it, which is why I'm confused there's a question here about it. Meg is undoubtedly the best survivor in the game when it comes to teachable perks, not just best original survivor or best launch survivor, the best survivor.
-
I'm assuming that since you're asking this, you are new to the game so I recommend leveling up David to get Dead Hard because it's level 35 (as opposed to Laurie's level 40, it'd take longer to get to) and as you're getting Dead Hard you also get WGLF (used to get BP to level up faster).
-
I got to say though, I do love seeing Survivor Streamers reactions when I double heal them with For The People (they downed on ground at 98% and then I heal them up then FTP them), or just in general performing epic saves on them, but usually I'm not skilled enough to perform these frequently so killer sided gameplay is more interesting to observe what was happening that game.

Here's my unique survivor outfits
-
To be perfectly honest I've been so invested in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl (the upcoming game I'm most excited for, I mean come on Invader Zim can wave dash to Nigel Thornberry, do I have to say anything else?) that I haven't been paying much attention to anything else. So all I have to go off of is the trailers provided, and I decided on VHS because I like the potential of the game.
All of these games are kinda limited in terms of killers, all Haunt Chaser can get are ghosts, I don't even know what's going on in Carnival Hunt, Ash vs. Evil Dead can only go as far as the license, and Charlie is limited in that only a Doll can be a killer. In VHS, it's only limited by 80s horror monsters but there's a lot that can be done there and even a lot of potential for licenses (Stranger Things survivors could be there, and then a lot of popular horror icons like Jason, Pinhead, Michael Myers, etc. could simply be movies). So going purely off characters, I guess I go with VHS. Also, apparently it's free, which is great because I'm currently blowing my money trying to get Stranger Things cosmetics before it leaves and I also need NASB.
tl;dr: I know nothing about these games because of Nickelodeon, from what little I just learned I'm more excited for VHS because I like the near unlimited potential it has for maps, killers, and teens and it's free to play which is what I need right now.

Gnome Chompski 2: The Revenge
Incase you weren't aware, Gnome Chompski is a gnome from Valve who had a special event in DBD to celebrate Bill getting a tome. He would appear exclusively during EGC and during that time survivors and killers had to run around frantically trying to find and kick this thing and survivors also had to escape to get it. I loved the event because it wasn't anything too big, it was just for a charm and you only had to play 1 game to unlock it for both killer and survivor, but it was fun running around trying to find this dude with a time limit ticking down and trying to escape as well.
In Gnome Chompski's Event 2, you still kick Gnome Chompski during EGC and must escape as survivor or just find and kick it as killer. Now this time you must find and kick Gnome Chompski 3 times (in separate trials, having to find him 3 times in two minutes is too brutal). For each time you find and kick Chompski you get a cosmetic piece for Bill which eventually leads to this outfit
(this is an extremely rough draft, it would look much better in game)
Gnome Chompski's revenge is turning Bill into a gnome (chompski).

You've seen the amount of RNG this game has? RNG can be used in competitive games, look at Luigi's misfire in the Smash series, most times his side special acts normally but it has a random chance of going much faster and being way stronger. Or Mr. Game and Watch's 9 from his side special which picks a number between 1-9 with 9 being strong. These work because they are unexpected and actually bring hype. Seeing a survivor get a purple key out of a chest and hoping into hatch isn't nearly as exciting and I think it's due to it ending abruptly, while the examples I mentioned early feel more like strong finishes to the hopefully good match that was just happening.
I think the main reason I'm opposed to DBD being a competitive game is the fairness. There isn't any. One side is clearly more better than the other and this results in uninteresting matches most of the time, and how long the games take don't do any favors. Even in other games, going back to my favorite example of Smash Brothers, where a character has a really bad match up (like Ganondorf vs. Pikachu), the matches are usually short and due to the fair playing field of legal stages, Ganon does have a fair chance to try to beat Pikachu. DBD isn't interesting when you just see 3 people working on gens slowly (because the killer has a gen defense build) and a person looping a Nurse for a bit.
I guess by definition DBD is a competitive game by the fact there are players going against each other, but I think I'd rather see Gang Beasts in tournament than this.
Tl;dr: DBD is too poorly balanced and too luck reliant to be competitive in my eyes, and the meta's too stale for it to be anything remotely interesting in high level play. It's best a casual game with lot of knowledge needed to get in, like, idk, DnD? Can't think of a good comparison (don't even know if DnD fits my description, I was just struggling to find a comparison).
-
The big problem with this is that it's way too late to add it. This game has been out for 5 years, people got attachments to these characters, people spent money on their characters, and it's all okay because these survivors are just skins and have no advantages over each other so they were allowed to pick who ever they wanted. Adding passives to survivors who been the same for years is a million spits to the face to those who simply played who they liked.
Imagine being a Claudette main since the beginning of the game's lifespan. You bought her outfits, put in billions of bloodpoints, spent thousands of hours, and you even have your unique style with her no other person has. Now imagine if she got the worse passive in the game, you can still play her but she still sucks in comparison to others. It doesn't matter who the survivor with the worst passive is, point is the mains of those characters would be done dirty and I feel bad thinking about them even though they aren't even real.

90 seconds. It takes 90 seconds to recover from being broken after using For The People.
why? -
Jonathan is definitely the rarest character and it's not even surprising.
To a Stranger Things fan, Steve and Nancy are likely more appealing being memorable fan favorites and might put money towards their costumes over Jonathan. (at least this is me, I watch the show and even though I know Jonathan is going for good, I already bought 3 outfits for Steve, going to get Justice Seeker for Nancy, likely going to get other skins for Nancy, maybe even a skin for Demo if I have enough money. Basically Jonathan is the last of my ST Fan Priorities.)
To a DBD Fan you might pick up Steve either because he looks cool or think him being in an ice cream scooper outfit is funny and pick him then, Think Nancy looks cool or funny in her Grandma Hair cosmetic (this headpiece) and pick her up, and then decide Mr. Jacket (Jonathan) looks boring and decide not to pay $15 for him.
-
There's also a lot of disappointing stuff. A lot of people (including me) really wanted the Ugly Sweaters to become real items and we got Monkey Paw'd.
This is David's Ugly Sweater in game
This is David's Ugly Sweater in store
These are not the same thing, these aren't even similar they are blatantly different sweaters.

Adrenaline
Always hated that perk and never thought it was even that good. Every time I bring It I wish I brought Hope instead (my opinion being Hope is miles better than Adrenaline because it's more consistent in it's effect and I actively find it more useful) because it either sabotages me (being exhausted by adrenaline means I can't use a secondary exhaustion perk if the killer finds me after Adrenaline is done), Matters not at all because I was already healed which leads to me being sabotaged by Adrenaline, and the few times it actually could've been helpful I become unlucky and the killer has NOED (which leads to me wishing I had Hope).
I don't like perks based around the end game, but 9/10 times I'd pick Hope (the 1 time being me thinking "I might've been too hard on this, let's try giving it a 234,682,652,997,658,054th chance" just to go back to Hope or another build).
-
Hillbilly
A lot of the killers were given bad hands or had something terrible happened to them, but Hillbilly didn't even have a hand, he didn't really have a chance at life. Take Spirit for example, yeah she was killed by her father in a disgusting manner but before that she had a perfectly fine life. All Hillbilly had was being trapped in a box until he could fight back and killed his parents, then all he knew was kill outsiders.
-
Memory Wipe, 10 Billion Percent.
Maybe I'd be fine if the Entity only erased memories of the survivors dying (as having memories of you dying would be completely illogical and might make survivors lose hope to escape considering they constantly keep dying) but survivors losing memory after each trial means there is no potential for character growth, completely contradicts previous lore, and makes everything even more pointless.
-
Instantly recovering a downed survivor (preferably on death hook) with For The People and both you and that survivor leaving unnoticed because the killer had no idea the survivor would just get up that fast (so they were doing something like breaking a gen), is one of the greatest feelings in the entire game. I just love FTP too much.
-
What we need from Anniversary Chapters is something big to spice up the game (for example 4th year giving the Survivors the ability to block gens).
-
My main goal and build as survivor is trying to make sure no one gets hooked at all (For The People to instantly get people up, Dead Hard to extend chases and to not immediately die if using FTP, then the other 2 perks I use vary but do fit when trying to get survivors hooked as least times as possible), Kindred would be extremely contradictory and if I were to use an Aura perk it'd either be Bond or Aftercare.
-
I know this isn't OP's fault, it's very hard to put a fair match against Demogorgon, but I think Oni Steam rolls a Demogorgon, even if this Demo was pulled straight out from the show (a.k.a. is harder to kill).
EDIT: If this also is too one sided and warrants another switch up, I think Blight could be a possible candidate to face Demo. Both are animalistic humanoid creatures that acts on needs (Blight Serum or Sustenance), Impulsiveness, and are both Strong and Fast fighters. Other idea I had was The Legion (using all 4 members, it kinda mirrors the fight in Season 1 with the 3 teens but this time with an extra teen. The Legion, mainly Frank tbh, also acts on heavy impulse and acts without thinking and I feel have strength in numbers), but that could be seen as a bit of a stretch.

Should survivors who have been standing inside the escape gate for more than 5 seconds be able to escape if they have been downed while in the gate? This would exclude any crawling survivors who were outside the gate area and are now crawling into the escape area. This would only affect ones who are wounded or healed that remained standing inside the escape gate area for more than five seconds.
Yes, to the general title of the post. Downed Survivors should be able escape through the exit gate (unless a perk, power, or add-on blocking the gate is in place).
No, to the idea in the post that the survivors have to wait 5 seconds to escape, that's stupid and doesn't even make sense lore-wise.

The problem with the argument that Caleb can capture Demogorgon is that, sure, The Russians did it, but they had millions of dollars, years of research, thousands of employees, and more modern technology.
Caleb is smart, that shouldn't be underestimated, but at the end of the day he's still a human that fails (the speargun, his gun, took multiple attempts and modifications to make, to quote his lore- "the speargun. The first trial occurred when a thief robbed a Chinese laundry. Seizing on the opportunity, Caleb unleashed his prototype. Metal joints screeched as the spike shot forward, gouging into the target's abdomen. But as the spear tugged, it caught the thief's intestines, and, with an ungodly sound, yanked them onto the dusty road. After several iterations, the disembowelments dwindled, but Caleb had already earned his new nickname: The Deathslinger." - that text highlighted in his quote proves he killed people trying to make his gun so that it didn't kill).
Even if Caleb has a great idea to kill/capture Demogorgon, we can't be guaranteed it'd work the first time and if it fails he might not have a second chance.
Also, Demogorgon can influence technology and random objects (as seen in episode 1 where he unlocks the Byer's front door), Demogorgon maybe could render Caleb's Speargun obsolete.

Still want this, even after an entire year after I made my original post showing him off to the world. All I want for Christmas is for Bill to kick your [BEEPED LINK], is that so much to ask for?
-
Still disappointed we never got Steve's Harrington Jacket
Likely would've been my most used torso piece, tbh.
-
Lore wise, I like to think the ST characters are somehow really bad in the trials, which makes the Entity place them in trials more rarely.
Demogorgon is just a mindless animal, I imagine they struggle to do basic things like put survivors on hooks and damage gens (Demogoron does damage gens but that's just passive, they don't really know they're doing that and aren't conscience of the gens).
Nancy is too busy trying to find ways to kill the dang things after her, observing them. I will say I do think she could be good in chases but if she gets out of them she's planning on killing the killer, so unless the Killer is on her 24/7 she's basically useless.
Steve is recklessly altruistic, but unlike Bill isn't Smart enough or skillful enough to justify his actions. I imagine him trying to do gens but if he has the feeling anyone's in danger he'll try to help them, and it isn't uncommon for him to die first. He also doesn't even give off much hope, he doesn't inspire others by being a veteran soldier like Bill, and while Steve would like to Survive I still see him protecting others if needed, especially when he sees his friends Nancy and Jonathan.
Jonathan I feel is the best plaything for the Entity out of the cast, but that isn't saying much. Admittedly he does give off a lot of hope, I imagine he desperately wants to see his brother again, and wants to be there for him during his weird adventures. Even though it's in completely different fields, I think Jonathan is the most familiar with technology being the Photographer so maybe he could do a generator. He seems smart, I think he could be a decent looper. The problem here is I don't think he'd trust the other survivors, he didn't trust his mother during season 1, dislikes a large majority of people, didn't have a lot of faith in Nancy for Season 3 (during the first half, I think. Haven't seen him in a while). Unless he sees a friend in trial, I don't see Jonathan communicating well with his team (I know Yun-Jin and other survivors are also loners, but I never said they'd be good in trial)
-
Blinking sounds like it hurts as hell, but I'm sure I'd get used to it. Builds up resilience, I think. Nurse also has some passive powers as well, like levitating, and telekinesis (she carries survivors and puts them on hook by floating them if I remember right).
Imagine being able to teleport (albeit in pain, but not anything that'd kill, just hurt for a couple of seconds), levitate, and move objects as strong as a human with your mind.
-
The characters and skins just won't be purchasable after November 17, if you obtained them beforehand you can still play as the characters with the cosmetics.

Individual pieces never go on sale, its always the whole outfit
I know what you are trying to say, you mean in an outfit individual pieces never go on sale in the outfit; I just wanted to mention both Nancy's and Steve's sweater are 50% off right now (being 125 AC), so that's technically not true.

Thank you for the response.
So if they don't have that icon then it's safe to assume that I could buy/unlock it as an outfit and be able to mix and match? Or just buy everything else individually?
If you buy the outfit as 1 you get a 10% discount (for Ultra Rares it's 1080 cells if you buy it as an outfit), if you buy the pieces individually if's more pricey (for Ultra Rares, a single piece is 400 AC, so if you buy an outfit individually it'd be 1200 AC).
So if you like every individual piece buy it at a bundle, if you only want 1 piece buy it seperate.
-
Yeah, I said I would get all of Steve's Ultra Rare outfits and his Ugly Sweater so I did.
except I somehow did my math wrong so I wasn't able to buy all 4 Ultra Rare Steve outfits and Sweater like I said I would, so I made a sacrifice and didn't get the This-Is-Not-Happening outfit (for those wondering why I got High School Hunk over it, I decided that the TINH skin wouldn't be good for mix and matching because it's dirty while all of Steve's other outfits are clean. That, and I like having Brown pants as all of Steve's other pant options are Blue so this opens up possibilities)
If I get more money for Auric cells, my plan is to go immediately to This-Is-Not-Happening so I actually have all of Steve's outfits, then go to Nancy to get Justice Seeker and then either Business '85 or Snow Ball Dress.
-
Outfits are mix-and-matchable, Sets are not.
Just lock for this icon at the top left of an completed costume in store, if it's there it means it's a set and you can't mix and match. If it's not, it's an Outfit with parts you can mix and match
-
Getting every Ultra Rare Steve skin, I always wanted to play Steve but I thought a $10 price tag for a single skin was a big much, but now that it's around $24 for all his skins it's a fair deal. Also getting his ugly sweater, and I might get Jonathan if I get more money before November 17.
-
Not particularly excited for tomorrow as I'm a console gamer so I can't play on the PTB, but I am excited about the day after tomorrow where I get new Steve skins because of the sale if that counts towards anything.
-
I might get him if I am able to buy more auric cells before November 17, but right now my plan with my remaining cells is to buy Steve's 4 Ultra Rare outfits and his Ugly Sweater (when the sale comes on), so I'm trying to preserve the amazingness of Steve "The Hair" Harrington.
-
I mentioned it earlier, but I'm buying all of Steve's Very Rare outfits and Ugly Sweater when they go on sale and will become a Steve main.
Not becoming one now though, I still have to play Bill while leveling up Steve, but when Steve is P3 with every perk I want I'll officially become a Steve main. -
I also think they knew, they tried hyping up a Stranger Things Live Stream by having Gaten Matarazzo and Ninja play together. It really seemed like they had a lot of attention put to Demogorgon out of nowhere, and I think that's mostly due to BHVR wanting Netflix to extend the license by showing them the DBD Fanbase really cares about these characters.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l--lHVhmHy0Unfortunately, a lot of us wanted to see a new skin for the characters and they didn't give us one for a long while (from what I remember) and the Demogorgon touch-up came a lot later so the live stream really didn't matter.
I think BHVR fought to extend it, but because we had no idea the license was in danger and it all coming from nowhere and not making sense led to it not being extended. I think Jonathan was the last major effort but because Jonathan didn't get new voice lines people thought it was a $15 scam and didn't buy it
-
They become generic shrine perks.

On this I'm not sure - I will have to check that, it's not something that's been discussed as yet. I have a feeling it might be a yes we lose them but that's not definite. I will try to get an answer on this and let you know.

No, if we completely remove the pfp from our sections, then they would completely go.
Possible Solution: Instead of completely removing them, change the icons into the slots of Ultra Rare killer skins (Krampus, Minotaur, Ferryman of the Underworld). Even though it doesn't make sense to put Steve to the slot of Minotaur, if someone on the forum had their icon as the "Minotaur" before it was updated they still keep Steve (assuming it's not forcefully updated like the 2018 icons) and this is where we can also get Ultra Rare icons on the forum like some people wanted.
Obviously I don't work on the game or forum, so I wouldn't know about this, I just wanted to submit that as an idea and ask if it was technically possible.
-
I imagine there's a chance that if you don't switch you can still keep it
For example, the above image are the icons on this forum from 2018 (it looks more big than the updated icons on the bottom, and it has the grey outline), while you can't switch to the icon up top some users can have it as long as they had it equipped and don't switch to another icon. I imagine that being the case for the Stranger Things characters and perks, can't be switched to but can still be used.
-

Can someone clarify the situation for me? Are they just being removed from the store, or taken out of the game entirely?
Also #########? I don't recall them ever removing characters before. This can't be good.
Being taken out of the store, previously bought characters and cosmetics for the Stranger Things characters will stay.
-
I know nothing about you from your description, but personally I say wait till August 18 to buy Stranger Things skins (they'll be 50% off then) to get exclusive cosmetics that likely won't return at half price (you can get 3 skins with that money as long as they're for Steve, Nancy, or Demogoron).
As to what cosmetics specifically, if you want a skin for each character I guess get Steve either Last-Minute Babysitter or Scoops Ahoy, get Nancy either Justice Seeker or Business '85, and get Demogorgon either Geo Mutation or Twisted Demogorgon.
If you want to focus getting the 3 skins on a specific character I say either get Steve Scoops Ahoy, Last-Minute Babysitter, and This-Is-Not-Happening; get Nancy Justice Seeker, Snow Ball Dress, and Business '85; or get all of Demogorgon's 3 skins.
But like I said you really gave me nothing to work with, I don't know who you play or main, what side you play most, what your tastes are, etc.

I have werewolf vibes. Like, for the shred attacks. A big wolf jumping to you. And the portals could be the Killer digging inside the ground and making kind of tunnels.
I mean, I can see it but I feel it'd be a big let down to finally get a Werewolf killer (one of the most wanted killers in the game) and it's just an exact copy of an existing killer.
But what if it was a Mole Man?
Has the portals, might be able to use Of the Abyss to check survivors with Killer Instinct due to him being one with his holes (he likes his holes so much and can feel vibrations around them?), and the Shred is just him lounging forward. Also, I don't think many people wanted this, so it's not sacrificing a character people wanted to be unique.
-
@TheMadCat said:
I wanted Robin... So I could main her alongside Cheryl... 😭
I also really wanted Jim Hooper, Steve was my #1 most wanted ST character but Jim wasn't far behind at all. I wanted to main him alongside Steve, even though I think Legendary Skins are a scam I still would've bought Hooper if he got in.
-
My most wanted Paragraph was always Jim Hooper, but now that it's somehow more unlikely than it was, I'm going with James Sunderland. Mainly because we get to play James vs. Pyramid Head which is a fantastic rivalry I want in DBD, and it also opens up Legendary Skins for male characters of Silent Hill.
-
Panic, be scared, and depending on the license either buy cosmetics for them before they're gone or not (I said earlier I'm buying every Steve skin but that's because I love Stranger Things and Steve, but I don't think I'd do that if it was Tapp for example)
-
When the sale comes I'm buying every Steve outfit and his Ugly Sweater (not getting Jonathan though, he's not Steve) and become a Steve main.

1,274 hours, 130 achievements. On average I unlock an achievement every 9.8 hours.
-
Steve in Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Cloud in Super Smash Bros 4 look like absolute jokes in comparison to adding Pinhead Larry in DBD. The moment this DLC is leaked, and then the moment the skin gets purchasable in DBD will both go down as 2 separate days to be remembered in history.
If this DLC happened, World Peace can finally be achieved as everyone is too busy trying to play Pinhead Larry in DBD (Survivors are now replaced with Bots to accommodate the 100% killer play rate) to notice the world around them. And even if they do to get Water and Food, everyone is acknowledging that Pinhead Larry is the greatest thing ever and no one argues that.
This is the DLC we don't deserve, but need.

Even though Nea is constantly compared as "Cat-Like," I'd like to see more Rat with her considering she does canonically have a rat.
To quote the event cosmetic from 2020, "The design resonated with Nea, a reminder of her charming pet rat, Milo."
We seen enough quotes and cosmetics, we get Nea is like a cat. Now let's take a rare opportunity to admire how she's a rat.
Also, would love if Bill got a Dog outfit considering Dogs are the most popular service animal (from what I remember), and Military use of Dog Tags.
