Hmm. Bought her with cells, got her to 40, played a few games with her every now and then. Got the amulet yesterday out of the blue. So I don't think it's a buy in x platform kind of thing.

I think the fact that information perks that become completely redundant if you're in comms exist, but are practically a necessity if you are not is evidence enough of how poorly conceived the entire system is and because of it, balancing the game around this contradictory situations is never going to work.
Unfortunately, the game is what it is, and unlikely to receive such major modifications considering its age and niche player base.
I tend to be a very positive person in relation to the game's imperfections, but this is the one thing I really do have a problem with. Being on comms is like having all aura reading and info perks together in one super perk that also goes on a secret 5th perk slot. Does it sound ridiculously broken? It is. And I'm sincerely confounded about who failed to predict this outcome or (worse) who thought it would be fine.
-
Playing survivor is more stressful really, because I suck at it.
Besides there are few things more relaxing than listening to some classic music... While you watch a survivor waste away in the basement as Bubba. I'm actually offended when other survivors interrupt that little me time.

Clive Barker mediocre? Sure, Jan...
Don't miss understand. I love the franchise, the setting, the lore and all. But even as a fan I have to admit both clive's original books and the more broadly known derived video production aren't exactly something to write tome about. They are both quite... Well. Mediocre. Clive's writing is blunt and overly literal in his descriptions, more akin to teen fantasy writing (but definitely not for teens). And the movies. Well. Really. Love them but yeah.
However I do understand that reading someone write anything less than stellar opinions about something you like can be annoying, so I'm sorry if you were offended by my post and I do apologize for any discomfort it may have caused.
Also I don't really know the Jan reference, though I can surmise it isn't exactly polite.
-
No. I find the franchise to be quite mediocre, akin to those mobile investigation games I have come to associate with big fish and other similar companies.
It has very little going for it.
Then again we have pinhead, from another mediocre production with little more than a cult fan base. So who knows?
I do love the hellraiser first couple movies, so it has that going for me.

On demo you can run shack and L T walls the 'wrong' way and just shred em
Oh. I didn't know that xD. I have never seen a demogorgon in game I'm clueless about it.

Yes I do
Thank you! don’t make fun of me lmao
So, ok. Disclaimer I'm definitely not an expert at all, but just in the first 3 minutes I saw you make a few small mistakes that loose you time.
You respected a pallet completely unnecessarily, letting the survivor greed it. Don't respect pallets. Ever.
You ran shack the wrong direction. Just recently learned this myself, but you are supposed to make the survivors run it so they enter through the pallet door.
You ran back to a completed generator a bit late because you were finishing a hook. A perfectly fine move, but then when you didn't see anything, you remained, checked the rocks and whatnot. When the survivors finished the Gen they don't linger, there was absolutely no reason for them to be hiding around. On this situation you make a quick visual check to see if you can find where are they scurrying to and get into a chase. If you don't , you go back to hook and potentially get an easy hit on the unhooker, but you missed this because you delayed at the finished Gen.
Small things like this add up very quickly in the early game.
-
Ironically, as killer main, my guilty pleasure is playing spec ops claudette and do gens, bones, heal others and escape the trial without having ever interacted with the killer.
I don't know, it's just satisfying.
-
Yes.
Oh wait, I should probably elaborate.
So on the power part, it's not clunky at all, it's very fluid once you get used to not trying to strafe. You can also prep and cancel with little consequence which makes it powerful because you can use it as a treath and put survivors in a lose lose situation.
But overall he is fun because he is a powerful, monstruous bully. You can very easily intimidate even experienced survivors. Once they realize that they can't juke you consistently (which does depend on you) they tend to get real careful around and drop the silliness.
It's very satisfying to see them dart away and abandon their less fortunate teammates to suffer my punishment because they know they stand to go down as well if they try and interfere
-
All right. Time to put the theory to practice. Thanks again :)

Shockingly it is. A lot of players really don't know how to mindgame, the proper route to run tiles (so many run L t walls on the outside and give the survivor 3 fast vaults ???), moonwalking, etc.
Wait, what? So how do you play those annoying loops as m1? I mean besides just leaving. Is there like a secret guide to how play every loop as killer or something?

People will go out of their way to express their sentiments of anger, frustration and unhappiness.
People who are content or satisfied will rarely feel the need to share or express it.
This phenomenon is exacerbated on the internet, because of several reasons. So when looking at it, it would appear that all you have is a bunch of complaints from unsatisfied persons, but for every complainer you have several silently content enjoyers.
I mean here in the forum I mostly see the same few dozen persons complaining over and over, a few new faces that also come to complain, a very few select members that actually come here to do things other than complain and that's about it.
When you look at the store opinions, you realize there are tons of people that just say "fun game, try it".
Or maybe I'm just crazy. Can't ignore that possibility

I think more than a few of us have called this "Toxic" right? Well I kinda disagree but also... agree. I don't know. I don't really find this toxic as I have played a fair amount of both sides. Usually from what I've seen when a survivor does either of the two things the killer will probably get frustrated allowing the survivor in the head causing killer to play worse. I've seen this before where a calm collective killer started getting angry making them make mistakes they usually wouldn't have other wise. Now my thoughts to Bming. Honestly I just find this funny. It usually leads to being tunneled which im actually fine with sense the killer is just wasting more time on you rather than protecting gens. What I find toxic, actually toxic is post game chat or dms to a player on console because they did or experienced the things motioned above. Really clicking or t-bagging makes you lose distance and bming on hook waste precious seconds. I know there's more things that I could have motioned as toxic but these are the things I hear about most. Tell me your thoughts and if you agree with what ive said.
Soooo.... How would you feel about taking the last survivor to the hatch, dropping him, closing the hatch in front of him and then proceed to hook him?
You know, just asking. Out of curiosity

The new surv animations that were once on PTB apparently fixed this issue.
and again, i might not be a good killer but I have enough experience to see it’s an actual issue for me which isn’t entirely related to my skill. Just saying ‚git gud‘ (which is what you are basically doing) doesn’t work for me and obviously for many others as well.
360s are a dumb ‚feature‘ and either should be made to consistently work against all kind of players regardless of input method or fix it so controller players aren’t at a greater disadvantage than they already are.
Well, I don't play on console, but I do play with a controller, because I'm a couch gamer, and I was also befuddled at first from this. Besides waiting it out, a little trick I have picked up that consistently get me hits against this kind of techniques is to either take a couple steps back as they start to spin so they just spin into my fov and get a guaranteed hit, or if the terrain isn't favorable (rocks and whatnot) step sideways while turning my camera into the other direction and it works as well. Works better when you move in the opposite direction as they are spinning.
They learn very fast not to try this against me just for fun. Though they always end up trying again when they are in panic.
Seriously, try it, ir works very well.

But something as minimal as the Doctor's electrics or lighting in some maps should not cause anything too severe even if you have photosensitive/epileptic people. And if you say it could then those people should stay away from video games to begin with.
What I'm criticizing is that the OP is blaming the game/players for macro flashlight clicking when he/she KNEW that such things were to happen regardless of whether or not the game had a warning sign.
He/she should've known better.
Wait so the doctor's treatment isn't only not working, but actually making you worse? But the survivors all seem to feel so much better....
Can't trust anyone this days

Would be kinda creepy to have him chasing you around... I think

I don't know. This might encourage more subtle hacking forms.
I don't know about you but I would rather take 5 back to back obvious flying nun hacker games than 1 subtle cheater game. Not being able to catch someone but not being sure if he is actually cheating or not can be very frustrating.
At least with the obvious ones I can still mess around since it's obviously not going to be any form of normal match I can just forget about it and get BP

Just an honest question. If a survivor complains about something that is OP, they are told to "git gud", but if the reverse happens, "survivors OP". So it takes no skill to play survivor, but also they should "git gud" (skill?), but a killer has every right to complain and being a survivor is just OP? So it is not at all possible for some killers to just suck at the game?
Source: This forum and dbd subreddit.
IMO, this game is very good at showing skill gaps for both sides. Plenty of killers can steamroll even SWFs(E.G. Otzdarva) who I would consider an extremely skilled killer, and plenty of survivors can run a good killers brains out. However, the average for both sides are nowhere near the skill ceiling of skilled players. I'm not here to say survivors are OP or that killers are OP. I think some killers/perks have their advantages and some survivor perks have their advantages, but I think removing skill from the killer POV is just ridiculous and completely disingenuous .
For the record, I think this game suffers massive balance issues from each end that can make either side frustrated. But from what I see on this forum and subreddit is that Killers are always right and immaculate in their thoughts, but if a survivor has anything negative to say about their experience...it's "bait, lol". How about some of you killers just "git good". Maybe you just suck and are a hypocrite.
I think one of the reasons for this way of thought is because the outcome of most killer/survivor interactions actually depend on the actions of the survivors. As a general thumb rule if the killer hits or downs a survivor, it's because that survivor made a mistake and the killer capitalized on it.
If the mistake hadn't been made, there would not have been a hit. It's not within the power of the killer to do it. Though it is within its power to induce such mistakes it's still very much a survivor "choice"
If a survivor makes no mistakes then the killer can't get to him. If the killer gets to him, the survivor made a mistake. Solution? Get good and make no mistakes.
It's a flawed argument and I don't entirely agree with it. It's also more prevalent with some killers, like basic m1 killers, but it explains what you asked
-
What? I love flashlight squads. They have a marked tendency to follow the killer around rather than do gens and are quite counterable even without specific perks. Running heavy slowdown and having a bit of awareness against this kind of teams is actually half a win from the beginning because they tend to have only one or two people at gens at any time.
And it's not uncommon to end a chase with 2 slugs for the price of one (get a down, approach your prey... Wait for it, turn around and hit the survivor conveniently hiding in the nearby bush or rock, chase and down.
Since I play pyhead mostly now this also often ends with a hook and a cage which is hilarious.
Now 4 toolboxes.... I wish I could change killers in the lobby.
Why can't we, anyway, BTW? It's not fair
-
Beast of prey now grants BP as an after game bonus, like BBQ does.

Then they need to actually invest in anticheat and hire someone that knows that they are doing..
Nah. Every "big" online game has a cheater problem, regardless of how much they invest.
And with great power comes great performance issues which this game actually doesn't have (communication issues are not performance issues).
Also increased costs and revenue loss which either results in a loss of financial viability on an already old and dwindling game or an increase in monetization aggressiveness.
Not sure many people would sacrifice, say 1k auric cells rebate from rift premium pass in exchange for better anticheat that won't stop cheating anyway and might cause stuttering, raise cpu use and other potential issues.
I'll just take the game as it is and nevermind cheetos
-
Claudette. To see the stealth community that only plays with free survivors raise with pitchforks and torches.
Of course I'm part of that rabble so....
-
I do hate cheaters. But there is gotta be lots of persons who claimed the game but haven't got around to play it.
I mean I haven't touched half of my epic library.

I was trying to test a new killer learning the kit and ended up against a toxic swf with flash lights whenever I managed to down someone they had boil over and the 3 others will crouch under the hook so I can't do anything while I can manage to hit 2 or 3 of them the one I'm carrying will escape they will run away and heal each other and repeat whenever I down someone they will either flashlight save and if you manage to carry one of them they have boil over you will hardly reach a hook then they body block you again it's totally unfair and toxic how there is no feature to ignore survivors and let you hook the one you're carrying even if others are crouching under a hook ? they did it 3 times to me and all of them are good at looping so 4 people communicating against 1 killer and they're good at looping there is no way you can hook 1 of them it's so toxic the game is fair when you play against 4 randoms but this is just too much I ended up disconnecting and the typical answer of injure 1 or 2 is not an answer you can barely move with boil over so you can't hit others easily and then they all escape and they have boons and they heal each other + self care and loops , flashlights and if you slug they use unbreakable or wait under a palette can't carry anyone from flashlight saves and can't hook anyone because of hook blocking , how is this fair at all for killers?
I can see that you're obviously a bit annoyed about the whole situation, I can understand very well but you gotta realize that your options against this kind of situation are limited and have already been stated.
The behavior you describe is actually a very silly thing to do (trade several injuries just to have one escape) they usually do this when they feel very safe or very confident and it's essentially a survivor mistake. A bad move.
On a normal situation I would tell you to capitalize on their mistake. Wound them and then drop the downed one just before it can escape, identify the worst positioned one and go for a down and try to snowball from there.
Also be aware of your surroundings. Boil over obscures hooks near you so might be actually walking farther than you need. Even with boil over I can always make it to a hook with plenty time unless I get the down in an extremely bad place (really away from hooks or through multiple doorways).
Other than that you also have to acknowledge the fact that if you really can't chase them effectively at all then they have you outclassed on pretty much every aspect. Maybe it's a poor map/killer pairing or a very bad spot, or they are just far more skilled than you (or a combination) in which case.... Well it's sort of the expected result. Bite the bullet, don't get too mad about it. You are a competent killer but that doesn't mean you can't indeed improve.
One thing that has helped me a lot when I realize that I'm completely outmatched is to forget about the win and just play the chase, take the opportunity to improve against better players.
Or play pyramid head and win every chase once you improve.
-
Yeah. It's a though one without survivor compliance. I managed by using the speed limiter and chasing a less skilled player using the chainsaw, then downed him, and chainsaw the rescuer. Eventually at the end gate, during the mandatory survivor gloating, they naturally stood at the gate and I chainsaw them all a few times before they left.
-
Sure, she invalidates survivors conventional healing but she is kind enough to bring her own health care alternative.

So you had some jerk survivors. For this you will punish next survivors you faced? Seriously?
No, seriously. I have tried non campy Bubba as well. Quite insistently, not just a couple games. And sure against a potato team he will do fine, but as soon as you start going a bit higher (you don't even need death squads, just competent) he just becomes unviable. Hold W and stringing vaults just counters him so hard that there is no wining. I mean I'm no God killer but I think I'm competent enough and when I play several matches with the clear impression that there was very little I could do differently that would change the result, even I have to admit that's disheartening and not fun.

Yeah.... What?

I have come to the conclusion that original killers are way more meta than any licensed killers.
Originals:
- Trapper - Meh
- Wraith - Meh
- Hillbilly - Weak
- Nurse - Great
- Hag - Meh
- Doctor - Meh
- Huntress - Great
- Clown - Meh
- Spirit - Great
- Legion - Meh
- Plague - Meh
- Oni - Meh
- Deathslinger - Meh
- Blight - Great
- Twins - Meh
- Trickster - Meh
- Artist - Great
While licensed killers are:
- Shape - Weak
- Cannibal - Meh
- Nightmare - Meh
- Pig - Weak
- Ghost Face - Weak
- Demogorgon - Weak
- Pyramid Head - Meh
- Nemesis - Meh
- Cenobite - Weak
- Onryo - Weak
Not a single meta licensed killer I can think of that is above Meh. Am I right or what?
I'm gonna assume that "meh" actually means "I don't like it, so I'm gonna put it on the irrelevant list"
Otherwise I just can't see how pyramid head is not relevant
-
Freddy. I just really love his eerie lullaby. I often stay in the dreamworld for as much as I can without dying a senseless death just to have his lullaby in the background.
Gameplay whise, anything not stealthy. I'm very bad against those killers.
-
Huh. If I had a really hard match but in the end I managed to 3 Gen them and beat them I would consider it an awesome, fun game with a well deserved victory for me. I find it difficult to imagine this as an "awful" match regardless of whether they teabaged, clicked their clickers or anything else really (that isn't straight cheating). I would state so in the end chat and would consider a rematch an interesting proposition.
-
An inversed 2 vs 8 would be pretty crazy. As in the killers primary goal would be to complete an objective like breaking a number of gens within a certain time curtain while the survivors interfere with them. No hooks, no kills except special interactions or trigger based, slugged survivors can get back up themselves, just slowly.
It would be a "fun game mode" with plenty resources for the survivors to interfere with the killers and the killers can take downing the survivors as secondary.
-
So a perk I keep bringing but turns out useless....
Well as survivor definitely decisive strike. I'm a very bad survivor and averse to being chased by the killer so I hide a lot, when in chase do my best to get away. When I do get hooked and then tunneled.... I often forget about it and miss the skill check. So I either never get to use it. Or when I do I botch it. I have successfully used it like 3 times xD.
As killer..... None really. I mean every now and then pain resonance will be useless because random, but I would not call it consistently useless.
-
Mmmm
I would love to try farming with survivors and all, but the problem is that sometimes survivors bringing this offerings does not mean they care about the killer part of the farm. If I enter a game and assume they all want to farm with me and they don't, by the time this becomes evident it's already too late to correct course. So I will simply always play as well as I can and expect the survivors do the same.
The only exception for me is when I'm trying to do some silly challenge like have x number or people step on bear traps on the same trial or break a bunch of pallets. I'll clearly indicate this, take the tour and after my objective is complete gladly chase, hit, and get stunned to their hearts content then watch run into the horizon.
If a survivor also somehow manages to convey a similar message I'll always try to be gracious
-
I like it when I'm playing plague. For some reason I almost always do pretty good there and I have never been stomped, as long as I play plague and claim the upstairs as my home
-
And one on the game, below some stairs....
-
If it ain't broken....
-
T. T
Well I can barely hit a zombie with his whip. I would really like to be able to play him well. Love the design and the character
-
Eeeeeh. Don't think so. Honestly when I was JUST starting to play this game, about November last year, I played Billy and stomped everything in front of me, red ranks and all with his very own perks xD. Until I didn't. Now I can't stand the sight of him.
Same with wraith, I thought he was so incredibly OP. Until it wasn't.
And unless you're camping I find Bubba to be even weaker than those two. He can't pressure the map and the gens, has no catching up skills (not really) if you're getting 4k without camping it means that the survivor you were chasing simply didn't know to get away from you stringing vaults and predrops and/or the survivors you were not chasing were not doing gens very much. This is true even for camper Bubba. He might very well spend 4 gens worth getting his first hook, which is why many bubbas resort to camping.
Win 10 games and then you might start to understand why Bubba isn't the almighty monster you think.
-
Gotta find a window
